I've been looking forward to Jersey Mike's opening up in Frederick ever since I had a sub at their Charles Town location this summer. Their fresh baked bread and fresh sliced meats set them apart from other chain sub shops. It's not my favorite sub in town, but it's a half step up from Subway or Quiznos. I'm totally confused by their number ordering system. The subs all have numbers assigned (e.g. 8 is a club sub, 10 is a tuna sub), but there are numbers missing. There's no 1, 4, 11, 12, etc. I got an explanation for this at the Charles Town location, but it didn't make a whole heck of a lot of sense. I guess they have other subs than what is currently on their menu? I got the grilled Rueben today. My boyfriend got the turkey breast and provolone cold sub and asked if he could also have it grilled, but they told him no. I thought it was kind of weird since they already had grilled subs on their menu, so it wasn't a totally bizarre request.

These subs are enormous. So if you get the large you might have some leftovers. They have hot and cold subs, although the cold cuts seem to definitely be a little more hearty in regards to the portions compared to the hot subs like the cheesesteaks. The only gripe would be sometimes the subs can become soggy if you take out, but not usually the case. The staff is also very polite.

This was my first time here and I actually had never even heard of the store. So I walk in and I guess the guy behind the counter could tell I was confused. He was very helpful and I ordered the ham and provolone - #3. The place was busy since it was lunch time on a Saturday, but I received my food quickly and the order was correct. I took the food to go on a drive to Warrenton, PA and the bread was not soggy. I would come hear again and again. I just loved it.

I've heard wonders about this place, yet have only been here once. Although the experience was slightly bumpy, I'd go back and would recommend to others as well. Pros: FOOD. This is no lame subway or Quiznos: these are beautiful, real subs for a similar price. They cut the meat and cheese right at the counter. We (easily) ordered one cheese steak w/peppers & one w/o, and a tuna sub with extra pickles (all shorter size). All came just as we ordered and were heavenly. We viewed other subs being made, and let me tell you: HUGE! and stuffed with meat & toppings. No one-slice of ham Subway-style here. The staff was charismatic and pretty efficient. Cons: the store size. it's WAY too small. The line was to the door and so people sitting at the tables were squished by people waiting in line. They should expand to the two adjacent empty stores. We took ours for a picnic after seeing there was literally no where to sit w/o someone's bum in our faces. This also makes it a bit chaotic when ordering, and if your sub is not ready when it's your turn to pay, there's really no where to wait either.

Soft fresh bread, meat and cheese sliced fresh to order. Club #8 Mikes Way with easy on the liquids and mayo is my favorite. The staff was upbeat, friendly and fast.

Had a roast beef sub, it had plenty of rare beef and was tasty. The downside is that it was very soggy by the time I got it home. The price was ok. All in all, I'd prefer Subway or Quiznos.

My husband loves subs, so we thought we would try this place. We had never been to a Jersey Mike's before, so it was a new experience for us. My husband ordered the Italian and loved it. He felt that it was one of the best Italian subs he has eaten at a fast food type sub place. The bread, meat and veggies were all fresh. The subs are a good size as well. I ordered the mini turkey and really enjoyed it. The staff was polite and the line moved fairly quickly. We will definitely return!

I completely agree with the comment about the haphazard ordering system at this place. It is a complete joke!! I have been here twice and each time the act of actually placing my order has been a royal pain and is extremely frustrating to the point that I doubt weather I would go again. So each time I have been there I went in and was asked for my order. I often place multiple orders (to take back to the office) and after giving my order the 1st sandwich maker will say "I only deal with hot sandwiches, you need to go down the line for cold sandwiches" I will get a receipt from him for the hot subs. After going down the line I have to repeat myself all over again to the cold sandwich makers. They never give me a ticket. Upon paying the person at the register they see the receipt and charge me for the hot subs only. I then have to remind him that I have cold subs ordered. By the time I am done with this transaction my hot subs are ready but wait, I need condiments. I now have to push back into the cold subs line to pass on the message that I need lettuce etc. These people need to get technology!!!!! Going to Firehouse Subs is a pleasure. You place your order. It gets put in a computer and you are done job sorted. If Jersey Mikes is to survive at this location they need to figure out a better system than they have right now. Don't even get me started on the numbering system for the subs. It just makes a confused ordering process even worse. One more thing, some subs you can get small/medium/large and others medium and large. It's not a major gripe but don't these people know the concept of KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) The subs themselves are ok. I had the cheese steak, and the southwest steak. The meat is the standard sandwich shop meat (think subway), however the famous roast beef has pretty rare beef which can be a treat. Either way the quality of the food comes nowhere near to making up for the pain that is ordering your sandwich. A disappointing 1 star. Go to firehouse subs you will get a much better sandwich and a lot less hassle.

Mini 13 on wheat! Plenty for me. Very good food, good price - going back. The place is small so plan on take out! The line was long but the staff got us through pretty quickly and the order was right.

I visited Jersey Mike's recently with my wife and daughter. We all had Philly Steak subs with different toppings. The quality of the food was what I expected for the price (our tab was about $25 for three regular subs and 3 drinks), but the quantity just wasn't there. With every bite, I felt like I was eating a mouthful of melted cheese and bread, with a scant amount of meat. My sandwich paled in comparison to other steak and cheese subs I've had, such as Ledo's. On a positive note, the restaurant was neat, clean and well stocked. The young man behind the counter was an aggressive, fast-talking (former used car?) salesman for the cold subs, which he said were Jersey Mike's specialty. It may be worth giving JM's another try on the cold subs before completely writing them off as another bad fast food deal.

This was my first time at Jersey Mikes.I came in about 7:30 pm. on the 15th of April. Not to busy maybe 3 orders ahead of me. By the time I got my order 15 minutes had past. The tall boy cutting bread and meat was brain dead, the rest of the crew just didn't have it together. Though my sandwich was ok, (Big philly) with Extra meat and cheese, I will have to complain about the lack of mushrooms and cheese. ..very little cheese. It's supposed to be fast food.

Love Jersey Mike's! This location is exceptional great! I order online on our way skiing and they are always ready when I get there. So easy to order online. Always our go to stop for great subs and great service.

This place is amazing. Everything is always fresh. The deli meat and cheese is sliced when you order. It's not piled up in stacks like most places. The subs are made in front of you to your specifications. The subs are huge. I've eaten both their hot and cold subs. It's become our go to place since moving north. Great place. Just don't go to Jimmy John's. That place is awful.

I've been to Jersey Mike's twice now and had both a hot and a cold sub. I was impressed with both. My hot selection was the grilled pastrami reuben with mustard instead of thousand island dressing. The sub was packed full of meat, cheese and sauerkraut. It was served piping hot. The bread is that delicious, crusty bread that really holds up to all of the ingredients of a sub sandwich. My cold sub was the original Italian. Once again, stuffed full of meat and cheese. I really like that the meat is sliced to order. Cold subs are served with shredded lettuce, thin sliced onions, tomatoes, oil, vinegar and spices. You can request they leave any of the preceding off of your sub if you wish. The only reason I knocked a star off is because of the service I received on my first visit. Two surly teenage boys were manning the store and they didn't seem very interested in giving good customer service. They just slapped my sub together and rang me out. My second visit was much better with a completely different set of employees who were friendly and fast. Oh, and sign up for their email club on their website! You will get a coupon for a free regular sub and 22 oz fountain drink on your birthday!

The Jersey Mikes in spectrum dr. Frederick is the best ! I stopped going to jimmy jones in urbana when I got a stomach ache twice and the service was poor. The Jersey Mikes management and staff is great always friendly. Our kids like their kids menu and it has become my hubby and I's lunch date spot when kids are in school. I hope they stay this way so we can keep going because my husband likes their bread and I love my mini sub :). Iris

Mmmmmmmmm. Perfect cheese steaks. I was hesitant to come because they don't serve fries and now I know why, fries would mess up the cheese steak experience. Jersey mikes Philly steak comes with onions and peppers, the peppers have some kick which sets off a huge food orgasm in your mouth, combined with lots of beefy steak stuffed onto a delicious roll, add cheese and you get real melty cheese, fresh and delicious......

Awesome food as always. I like to get a sub before I go into work and it always tastes fresh. They also pack their subs with meat and cheese. I'm glad this chain seems to be consistent with quality food.

Mike must be at the Jersey shore flexing his washboard abs cause the kids who run this joint need some serious supervision. Yes the food is good (when they get your order right), but when you've got a bunch of amateur circus clowns performing behind the counter, food safety comes into question. Too often I've seen an employee stop to his remove his dirty sweat-stained hat and scratch head, or rub his nose with his hands, and then go right back to making sandwiches without changing gloves. That is gross. Beyond gross. It's unhygienic and unsanitary. What's the point of wearing gloves if you're too stupid or careless to change them when they're dirty? They're not magical gloves with the power to kill germs on contact. Placing a phone order is also a nightmare. More than once I've hung up in frustration after trying to give my order to a kid who either wasn't paying attention, or was too busy carrying on a conversation with another clown to hear what I was saying. Don't bother answering the phone if you're not going to listen. These issues begin and end with management. Poor management. One night I walked in at 8:40pm, 20 minutes before closing. Instead of greeting me, the manger (an overgrown teenager with an oversized attitude) looked at me and sarcastically said, "have you ever heard the song Closing Time?" I looked at my phone to double check the time, and yes, there were still 20 minutes before Closing Time. If you don't want my business, just say so and I won't come back. If you don't want to serve food until 9pm, change your hours. But don't be an asshole when I come in to give you $12 for a turkey sandwich.

I love Jersey Mike's but this location has slowly gone downhill. They use to have some good friendly employees but seems the kids working in there now can care less. The tables and floors are always dirty, even when it's slow. I think I'll just get my subs to go in the future.

Let me just say this place is HORRIBLE. One, the people there are sooooooo rude!! I've never been to a food place with such horrible manners. Also the food is terrible. I got the roast beef such , which was horrible and had no flavor. The bread was also horrible!!! If you want a good quality sub.. go to Jimmy Johns!!

I am originally from New Jersey. I have been to the original Jersey Mike's in Point Pleasant, NJ. Let me tell you, this is how you do a sub sandwich. The bread has made fresh, is soft without being chewy and it has flavor! (Try and say that about Subway's bread). There are dozens of sandwich fillings and the meat is cut fresh in front of you. It was a joy to have a real sub sandwich, wet (that is soaked in oil and vinegar) with just the right balance of meat to bread to veggie ratio. Can't wait to come back!

Really expected to give this place a much lower rating based on the other reviews, but it seems like most of those reviews are based on people's inability to read numbers or something. I have no clue why the ordering is so hard for most of the other reviewers. It's not hard, tell the guy the number. It's not rocket science. Hell, every fast food place in the 90's and early 00's did the same thing. Walk in to a McDonald's, ask for a number 7 value meal, and pay the monkey. Jersey Mike's is no harder. As for the gaps in the numbers, those are of subs that are not available or no longer available. Just like retiring a jersey number. Again, people, it's not like a Rubik's cube or trying to figure out how to make love to a transvestite! Ok, so on to the food. I had the chilpotle steak and cheese and it was amazing. I wished I splurged an extra couple bucks to get the one that was twice the size cause man it was awesome. I think Firehouse has a new competitor . The bread was fresh, and the meat hot. The quality of the steak was also pretty high IMO. So, I plan to hit this place up again sometime.

This place is addictive!! So some friends asked if i had been and wanted to go for lunch.. they know im a bit of a food snob... but i decided to give it a try and WOW im glad i did!! I ordered, and have only ordered, a steak and cheese here. The rolls are in the traditional philly style.. the provolone is fresh and creamy, the meat is bountiful and tasty.. and they dont skimp on toppings. Staff is always friendly.. joking with you. They make you feel welcomed. Sure, its $$, but its well worth it to me. I used to be a Jerrys Subs fan but wow have they gone down hill. Jersey Mikes is the only place i will get a philly cheese steak - outside of philly. lol go there. try it. love it. dream about it. go back and get more. End of story. Also - to the 'reviewer' that gave this palce 3 stars because 'sandwhich was good but by the time i drove home it was soggy'.. learn how to correctly review an item or a product. Its just as bad as giving an item on amazon 1 start because UPS mashed in a corner or you picked up conrete mix bags at lowes and some of the dust got in your car. NEITHER are the companies' fault! Its YOUR fault.. I laughed out loud and decided to write my review simply to tell of how awesome their subs are and to counter that pathetic review. Meat has juice. When meat is cooked, juice comes out. If you drive 10-15 minutes home the meat is still hot and juice will come out. Dont blame the restaurant because you decided to take your food home.
