I take my employees there for lunch quite often, the food is good and you can't beat the price

I frequently have lunch there and the senior meals between 2 and 4 is a great price. The food is good

Be forewarned. Golden Corral is a popular spot among tour buses. Why? Because they can accommodate very large parties. I was here today with my 200 students (right after another large group from Ohio). Be prepared to tolerate noise and endure longer lines when a group is present. The food was decent .. if you're an omnivore. Most of the students seem to have enjoyed it. However, vegetarians like me (and a handful of others) have little variety beyond sides, salads, and cheese pizzas. Bonus points to the wait staff for periodically refilling drinks and clearing off empty plates from the table.

This golden corral is pretty hit or miss...Few times I've come here and the steak had no flavor...just salty. Aside from that, service is good. YOU GOT TO TRY THE FRIED CHICKEN. OMG. Popeyes and KFC? scoot over. AYCE chicken is here baby.

I agree with the other reviewers here, all you can eat, food is good, and the price is right, it's not too loud, buffets don't get any better than this

Plenty of good food to go around. The bars are full of yummy food. From the salad bar to the hot bar, the grilling station and the dessert bar. I think they are having an all day breakfast one of the server told me that they do promotion every month and it just happen to be my favorite of all time Breakfast. The pancakes were so good ham and bacon plus tasty hash browns to go with it. After that I tried the fried chicken which is so good. The server keeps coming back to check if we need anything else. The desert bar was great had a chance to dip some strawberries on the chocolate fountain and they have quite a varieties of different cakes, pies and ice cream. The food is outstanding and so is the service.

Avoid the Chocolate Fountain. Too many times I've watched kids stick their dirty, germy, snot-covered fingers in the chocolate fountain, with no response from the staff. Yes, throwing out all that contaminated chocolate would reduce your profit margin, but then so would loosing those diners who went home with food poisoning.

If you are the type of parent that doesn't care if your kids run circles around the table, scream at each other, and use their booster seats as drums, then this is the place for you. I thought I'd try the place for their brunch buffet, and I have to say, my standards are pretty low, but this place was just terrible. Nothing says tasteless fat American like the Golden Corral. Dirty, noisy, bad food, and not much in the way of healthy choices.

This place is always packed with people. The waitresses and waiters are always nice and professional. I like to go here because I haved a family of 5 and its cheaper to eat here. You can get an appetizer, enttree, and dessert for a decent price. Everytime we go we ask do they take Military discount some people say yes and some say no. So I guess it depends on what cashier you get.

It's alright that's all I can say. My daughter loves it the most because of the dessert section.

Don't want to cook but want to eat several different types of foods and not spend a lot of money? Then Golden Corral is the place for you. Food and drink for about $15? Sound like a good plan to me. They have salad, fruit, fried chicken, breakfast food, steak, etc. They also have a big dessert buffet that includes cotton candy and 2 chocolate fountains. My sisters and I love to come here for a bite to eat. It may take 20 minutes to drive out here but for the price it is well worth it.

I can't really slam this place or praise it. It is what it is a typical golden coral. Most of the food I've tried here has been fine for a buffet definitely no where near as good as you would get at a sit down restaurant. I do like that this location keeps the options turning over. I personally like the meatloaf here and always found that when I'd go up for another piece a fresh one was out. Waitstaff has always been pleasant and I never wait to long for a refill. So if you're just really hungry and don't want to spend a lot of money this place is great. Just don't go in expecting a 4 or 5 star review type of place.

I am a little embarrassed to admit that I will happily drive 20 minutes to Frederick for Golden Corral. I am a "foodie" for goodness sake! LOL I cannot think of any place else where you can eat all the sirloin steak you want cooked to order for $15...and that includes a drink! This is why I come here. Granted, these are only 5oz petite sirloins, but you put 2 on your plate with either some rice or mashed potatoes and it is definitely worth the price and the drive! Throw in a salad bar with all the fixin's and this girl is in heaven! They advertise that nothing is frozen and everything is shipped in from farms. The amount of fresh fruit is definitely worth the wait. It is your typical AYCE buffet with mostly American fare like fried chicken, roast pork loin, meatloaf, liver and onions, fried fish, popcorn shrimp and pot roast. There is a little section for Mexican with enchiladas and make your own tacos or fajitas and even a section for Chinese with lo mein and General Tso's chicken. After 4pm they bring out the wings...bbq, hot, teriyaki. Plenty of pizza and mac and cheese for the kids. Corn, baby carrots and green beans. Dessert. Cotton candy and 2 chocolate fountains! Lots of ice cream to choose from. Pies, cakes and fresh baked yeast rolls from the bakery. Come early or come late. Lots of tour buses stop here. Lots of kids. Be prepared. It is not Ruth Chris but seriously, what more do you want for $15?

We have to drive a good 30 miles to this place, and we keep coming back. Decent food and very affordable price, drinks included. Service is OK. Good place for family with kids. My daughter is so "alive" whenever we come here. She finishes her food so quickly, and then move on to the chocolate fountain, ice-cream bar, and cotton candy station. I don't mind the noise since my own little devil also participates in making the noise.

Food was horrible. Cold. Zero seasoning. Don't even bother trying anything besides the steak and the steak ain't even that good. Steaks better at Fridays. 25 for 2 people with one cup....Not my type of place. Maybe for others. I think I can find a whole lot better buffet.

We ate here a few months ago in April so honestly by now I forget the details but I mean a Golden Corral to a point is a Golden Corral and most fall into two categories: 1. Dumpster fire of artery clogging MSG acronym laden slop. 2. Something that quasi resembles edible food with drink schleppers who come by more than once every Haley's Comet sighting. We showed up in the early afternoon on a Saturday after visiting the Monocacy Battlefield right down the road. GC was busy but thankfully we were blessed with no buses or groups so things were manageable. No specials were happening as it was lunch and the steak feature was only being offered during dinner, post 4pm. The food that was here was the same standard offerings you can find at any GC but I will say that the buffet area was replenished often enough and things were not allowed to get out of control mess wise like at so many other GC's. As others have mentioned, this isn't five star cuisine and I think even going four stars is a bit cray cray but considering what was paid it wasn't bad and we could have done worse.

For a buffet, the food here is great. There are a few questionable dishes, but for the most part, I've enjoyed the food. My kids love the chocolate fountain and cotton candy! The only reason I'm giving a 4 star and not a 5 star is because of how crowded it can get. I understand it's a large place that takes on large parties, and that's great for business... But it can become unbearable for the average patron. The past two times I've gone, they've had 3-4 tour buses full of people show up after I've come, and the restaurant floods with people. Even when we aren't done with our meal, the thought becomes "how quickly can we get out of here?"

"They have Awesome food, taste great and have everything but they have terrible pizza. ", Said nine year old Dustin. Critics of the food have refined tastes. Food taste good to me. We keep coming back when in Frederick. The buffet is always stocked well. The crowds that eat there are evidence that the Golden Corral has great appeal. The crowds add to the eating experience.

I came here during the week and it wasn't crowded. It was between lunch time and dinner time. The front staff all seemed nice, they get your drinks for you, and then you can pick your seat. The place is big. Some of the selections were okay and some were not so great. I saw that they had deviled eggs and piled onto my plate. When i tried it, it tasted very artificial. The fried chicken was good but a little too salty. The pulled chicken was a little greasy. The sweet potato salad was very good and so are the rolls. Once dinner time came, like 4pm ribs are offered, though they are pork ribs, I wasn't able to eat them, the steaks were good but again, they were salty. They have different steaks according to how you like your steak done. The desserts were not that good. Most we're like something you see at a cafeteria. Though, the cotton candy and the soft serve ice cream were my favorites. The waitress at first was good, she refilled our drinks and brought out baked sweet potato or regular potato. Then towards the middle to end of the meal, she forgot about her area and never came back. Our plates were scattered everywhere. We had to use another table to clear our table. The lunch price wasn't bad especially when you come right before dinner time. That's a value right there but the food lacks taste.

Better than your average AYCE buffet. It's GC, typical American foods being served to millions of folks at once. I personally enjoy GC, it's always a good cheap place to go to if you want to OD on all things American.... Puddings, cakes, country food, chicken in all ways imaginable, huge salad bar, soup selections, and plenty of side dishes to pair with your chicken served a million ways. They always have some sort of promotion going on, shrimp & prime rib, endless wings, blah blah blah.. All good for the price you pay. But don't expect a 5 star dining experience, GC is a popular spot for tour buses and such. The only thing I despise about going to GC is the fact that the seating is all soooooo close. I can literally touch elbows with the diners at the next table to me... UGHHHH. But totally worth the $12? Yes. P.S. it's not like a typical buffet bc they don't let stale food sit on display until someone eats it.. There's always fresh foods being served.

There is very little to be said about this experience. It was very crowded on a Saturday evening. It was hard to get around and there was no order in terms of lines and how folks were to grab their food. The food was not worth it in my opinion. Things that were supposed to be hot, weren't and things that were supposed to be cold were room temp. Only positives in my opinion were their roles and the chocolate fountain. I do love me some chocolate.

  • Belinda B.

Most of the food was bad to mediocre. Its a great place to fill hungry bellies on a budget, but not the place for picky eaters. The highlight of the place is the chocolate fountain where you can dip fruits (like fondue). The hostess was rude because we had a group of 30 asian people standing around - but in our defense we had reserved a table in advance. They made us wait for a while and expected us to stay confined in the exit hallway. On the other hand, our waitress was sweet and was quick on refilling drinks and clearing plates. Despite the price, the food was mediocre and first impression on walking in was horrible I wouldn't return here again.

Oh yeah. I've never gone when it's too busy, always get hot fresh food in surplus quantities. Bathrooms are a little iffy but who cares. This GC in particular seems like it's nicer than others. Best Dinner Rolls in the WORLD. Honey spread is so good.

We recently moved to the area and have driven by the Golden Corral, Frederick, MD many times and often have seen lines out the door. So one would expect it to be fairly acceptable. So on Tuesday 6/3/2014 we decided to give it a try. We entered at around 7:10 p.m. and waited several minutes before the attendant noticed us (she was busy reading something). We then paid for 2 adult meals and drinks for $27.95. There were plenty of empty tables, a problem became as we tried to find one that was clean. A lot of the tables had been haphazardly wiped down obviously with dirty towels leaving an unpleasant residue that was clearly visible. Unfortunately, this lack of concern for cleanliness carried throughout the restaurant. We attempted to get our plates that were stacked upside down in the holders. It was kind of a turn off to see a lot of the plates had large chips on them. This would not affect the functionality but to me showed a lack of pride in the restaurant. The lack of concern for cleanliness appeared again when we noticed globs of food stuck to several of the supposed clean plates. When we turned over many of the plates and noticed what appeared to be grease smudged fingerprints. It took about 5 tries to find plates that we were comfortable with putting our food on. No problems with the flatware. All knives, forks and spoons seemed clean. When walking up to the food areas the first thing we noticed was how incredibly dirty the hard surface flooring was surrounding the food areas. They looked dark and greasy from heavy foot traffic. Obviously had not been well cleaned in days. The food bars themselves also needed a wipe up. There was evidence that someone had made an attempt to wipe around some of the food portions, but again, it was done haphazardly and smeared food was left to dry after the attempted clean up. Looked really bad. The dessert bar was the worst! Especially near the chocolate fountain. It was stomach wrenching, YUCK! Most of the food was sub-par. We weren't expecting a gourmet meal but we were expecting a little fresher experience. The food had been sitting out for quiet sometime leaving the vegetables quite mushy. The squash was the worst. It had been sitting out for so long it was like soggy toilet paper. The meat that was sitting in gravy was dry and over cooked. The chicken was barley warm and also over cooked. We did enjoy our steak. It was seasoned nicely and cooked the way we liked it. Rolls were also good. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. We have been to other golden Corrals in other states that did not have these cleanliness and food issues. We felt that we got less than we paid for and unfortunately for Golden Corral, we will not be back. Management really needs a wake up call here.

Definitely on the low end of the local places to go. When we were there, there were tons of flies in there. We have not gone back.

Guess this is the place to go when you're living off welfare. No gourmet foods here, probably a bunch of latinos in the back kitchen defrosting and microwaving half the food. No real Chefs here. Nasty s***. On top of that, all they have to drink seemed to be soda and water. Had one fat red-neck guy sitting couple tables over ripping a** several times. I'm sure a soup kitchen would be more decent then this place.

When in Frederick and have a huge appetite, you chill at GC. This place knocks Old Country off the map... Too bad there is not one in Moco. The seating is very cozy, its not like one huge mess hall like that other place. Service is nice. You get your drinks refilled, rolls!!!!!!!!!!!! Omy the rolls are the best especially with the secret honey butter sauce.. What I dont like is the bus loads of people from Peter Pan or Greyhound or where ever hoard the food! This one lady took a whole slice of pizza. I kid you not. She stacked her pizzas and they looked like she was playing jenga. I dont like greedy people. I dont like bratty kids who make a mess and not clean up after themselves. The ice cream parlor looks like a cyclone hit it because yes you guessed it. Some brat kid decided the shower the counter and the floors with sprinkles.

It's a buffet, what do you expect? But it's actually pretty decent food for what it is. It has a really nice salad bar and the soups are tasty. Most everything is cooked fresh, and the stuff that seems to be from the freezer is good restaurant quality. There are sometimes unwelcome surprises, like cocktail sauce being placed at the taco bar. You certainly would never think it was anything but taco sauce. For what it is, it gets 3 stars. I bumped it up a notch because I like the fact that they offer veterans free meals sometimes, as a way of saying thanks for their service. I support that gesture 100% (though I would stay away from there on those days due to the crowds!). Anyway, I would much rather eat here than at a fast food restaurant, and for roughly the same price.

It was my first time dining here in August 2011 and I went with a large group of family and friends (20+). It was a birthday celebration and I guess a buffet would be a good place to go to with such a large party. As soon as we arrived, the front hostess was rude simply because of the size of my group. She frequently rolled her eyes when spoken to and made rude comments to her co-workers. She wasn't even subtle about it as if she wanted us to know we weren't welcomed. It was uncalled for. Despite my first impression from the hostess, the server was nicer and checked with the entire party frequently. I think she did a good job with such a large party, but it wasn't anything over the top. A smile or two would have been appreciated, but I guess she was just doing her job. The food was not good. It seemed like all the foods were dry as if they were cooked much earlier and left out under the heating lamps. I tried the roast beef, rotisserie chicken, fried shrimp, and sausage and veggies. Disappointed, I didn't bother to try anything else. My wife had some of the Asian cuisine and also said it was mediocre at best. Sadly, the best dish was a dessert; the chocolate fountain and had the options of dipping strawberries, rice crispy treats, macaroons, and pineapples in it. I also tried the chocolate cakes, brownies, and apple pie. All of them weren't good. You might as well buy your dessert at Giant or something. I will not be going to the Golden Corral again and if my family members suggest going there, I will suggestion another place.

The Golden Corral is not a traditional restaurant; it more resembles the main dining hall at my college in the 1980's. Lots of food aimed at pleasing the most people, most of the time. I got there at 10:30 a.m on a Sunday , early enough to catch the tail end of the breakfast buffet and the beginning of lunch, all for $8.95 including coffee. Though it is a self serve restaurant, you are assigned a wait person who refills coffee/ removes trays etc. I chose carefully, trying to avoid the multitude of high carbohydrate pastries and fatty breakfast meats. I had French Toast, which was somewhat dry but passable, with "fresh" melon, and some slivers of a carrot cake (people had scraped the frosting off unceremoniously to the side), and some sort of chocolate fudgie thing that actually was quite decadent. The coffee wasn't bad, and the waitress did refill it time and again. If you're hungry enough, you could sit there for hours and for a small price, have lots of bland cafeteria style food. And that seems to be the secret of its success; it is a food delivery warehouse more than a restaurant...people go there to eat, and atmosphere is not intended to enter the equation. But it is what it is, and apparently quite popular as seen by the ubiquitous tour buses in the commodious parking lot. For $8, you really can't beat it with a stick. Costs are higher for lunch and dinner.

Had delicious fried chicken. Hand breaded chicken tenders were good as well. Lines were kinda long due to the good food. Good food for the price!

So you don't come here for a 5 star meal. You come for the quantity. To my surprise it was actually quite good. I went on a Sunday afternoon so they had the all you can eat steak as well. While this was not grade AAA choice cut meat, it was quite tasty and flavorful. A little chewy, but that is why you pay $35 at a quality steakhouse for. Got $11, I can deal with a little chewiness. Has 3 chocolate fountains, amazing chocolate cake and lots of dessert. Fresh/canned fruit. Good pizza. Kids 3 and under are free. Total for 3 of us to eat was $25. I can't even go to a decent fast casual restaurant for that. My son loves it because he gets to pick what he wants to eat. Very busy so turnover on the buffet was great... Things didn't sit too long. All in all decent food, great price. Beware that the have a senior discount though so lots of old people especially later in lunch just trying to buy 1 meal that day!

    (4)
  • Chef A.

Also known as "The Feeding Through", CG offers a lot of food for a reasonable price. I will admit, the military discount is equal to the sales tax doesn't feel like much of a discount tom me, but hey,¢80 is is 8 Swedish fish at a penny candy shop these days, right? The downside to a place designed to cater to 900000000000000 people at once is pretty much everything is standardize to a point where the dining experience is more about how much you eat and not what it tastes like. Simply put, the food is bland, and I'm pretty sure it is pushed out at such volume that there is no QC going on at all. The food is a crap shoot, it is overly busy to a point that just getting to the food in itself is a massive challenge, and the Great Walrus G-d of Zorth forbid a tour bus from Des Monies, or a van from the senior center pulls in, of having any hope of having a pleasant dining experience. Yeah, the food is marginally palatable at best, but the experience of being crammed in to the Tokyo Metro at rush hour just puts me off.
