Haha, if you think this is good BBQ then you haven't traveled much! One sandwich with NO accompaniments costs $8.00+. I can eat a whole meal of BBQ - 2 meats, 2 sides, bread, onions, pintos, and pickles for less than that in TX. Oh, and it's actually good. This place is raping yuppies that don't know what BBQ is.

Great BBQ , not much else to say. The truck is hidden from view and a little hard to find for those who don't know where to look. Follow the sign and go behind the tattoo shop and the "massage parlor", you'll be rewarded with good food.

Nothing to add that the other reviews dont already rave about. I scarfed down the smoked brisket sandwich as fast as i could. Also had a bowl of the chili which is made with brisket instead of the lower end ground beef you get at other places. Can not wait to get back here again. I just ate here for the first time last night and am contemplating driving an hour back right now!

Blues BBQ is a little operation based out of a big blue truck parked behind a tattoo parlor. I actually really dig that. I like my BBQ like I like my music. I want it a little threatening. I want it to challenge me. I want it to possibly make me uneasy and question things I once thought true. Once upon a time, a friend of mine asked where he might find the best BBQ in a town I used to live in, that he was going to be passing through. I told him it was tough to say, as all the best places were road side deals, and those guys moved around all the time. I liked that. Hell, it was a challenge just to keep track of where they were! Kind of like a BBQ treasure hunt. If you don't want a challenge, or to feel maybe a touch threatened - best to just go find something like a 'Smokey Bones'. Or perhaps 'Denny's' has something that they call BBQ on the menu now. They offer a nice menu beyond just the Pit Beef, and for the first go, we went with the pulled pork sandwich and ribs, and then grabbed some fries and onion rings for the sides. My thoughts on each: Pulled Pork Sandwich - My own personal preference for a pulled pork sandwich is typically something along the lines of what I consider 'Memphis Style', specifically, a nice smoked pulled pork dry (not blended with sauce), a good slaw on top, and then a sweeter, thicker, tomato based sauce with a touch of spice and tang applied. The Blue's BBQ pulled pork was more along the line of what I consider a 'Carolina Style', specifically, a smoked pulled pork, already mixed with a thinner, more vinegar based sauce, and then topped with a slaw. I very much enjoyed their take on the pulled pork sandwich, and thought it was a very good presentation, something I would definitely get again. The pork was nice and smoky, but not over powering, and had a nice touch of pepper. The sauce was a very nice compliment and blended nicely with the meat, not overpowering it - which is typically one of the things I tend to not like about a pulled pork sandwich where the pork is already blended with the sauce. It tends to be so up front that you lose the flavor of the meat. Not so in this case. For me, BBQ is about the meat, the sauce is only there to bring out the best in that meat. I don't go to an expensive steak house because I like steak sauce, and I extend the same line of thought to BBQ. And no, I don't use steak sauce on a well prepared steak. It's an insult to the Chef. Ribs - Baby back ribs served up wet. Overall, not at all bad, but far enough outside of my personal preference, that I don't think I would repeat. It wasn't something that wasn't worth eating, just not what I go looking for in a rib. On the plus side, I thought it was a very good cut of meat, and it was just to the point I like, where the meat is juicy and falling off the bone. The sauce was similar to what I had on the pulled pork from what I could tell, and added a nice tang to the meat, without overpowering it. Another plus in my book. On the downside, I got no smoke flavor whatsoever. It didn't seem that they were cooked in a smoker, but I got the hint of flavor that you get what you cook something with gas. I really missed the smoked pork goodness, and these seemed more like what I might get from someone's oven or gas grill. I will say however, that there exists a good bit of potential there. Throw those bad boys on a smoker. And if they are on a smoker, check it. Something is off. Fries - The fries were very good. Some of the better fries I have had. Definitely a boardwalk style, I wished I had some malt vinegar with me (they may have had some at the counter, I don't know...actually didn't look before we left with the food. Definitely greasy, but not soggy. Reminded me very much of the fries I would get at the county fair. They are very nicely done. Onion Rings - I suppose that reviewing sides from a BBQ place is like saying you enjoyed a movie at a theater because the popcorn was good. Personally, I enjoy the sides when I go to BBQ. I love a good brisket, with a nice side of beans, and finish it up with a nice warm cobbler. To me, that's BBQ tradition. It doesn't add to or take away from the overall experience for me if the sides aren't up to snuff, but it's all the better when they are. The onion rings were very good, a nice batter, and a nice bit of crunch, deep fried and served up with a spicy dipping sauce that I thought went very well with the rings. All in all, I rate my visit at 4 stars (4 for the sandwich, 3 for the ribs, 4 for the onion rings, and 5 for the fries). Enjoy!

There are only a few times that you have a dish that redefines not only how you judge all others you have after, but changes your entire prospective and importance of the dish. Before pulled pork was just a last resort or I would eat it if I was hungry. If there were ribs on the menu with it, the pulled pork wouldn't get a second thought. After Having the Carolina Pulled Pork Sandwich at Blues that all changed, first the pork is served on a sturdy Kaiser Roll not some generic hamburger bun that gets all soggy if a drop of moisture touches it. Then you have perfectly made slaw, not that trendy stuff or that nasty crap with raisins, crunchy mayonnaisey slaw. Then you have the star of the story which is the pork itself, the meat is tender but not overdone, juicy, fatty, spicy, wow! The price is perfect for what you receive, the sandwich weighs a ton! The lemonade is fresh squeezed and refreshing. The beans were a tad sweet but the bits of smoked pork goodness in them saved the effort. No one in Frederick can beat Blues when it comes to pulled pork right now, after a few more visits i'm sure I will extend that claim to ribs and so on! Outstanding!

A hint on the location, basically turn into the parking lot at Snakeman's Tattoo. The "big blue bbq" truck is nestled back there. This is really the best BBQ in Frederick, hands down. Had been to Black Hog earlier in the week, so the comparison is fresh in my mind. Here, the portion size is generous, and definitely worth the price. Recently had the Memphis pulled pork sandwich and "small order" of hushpuppies. Both were delicious. The hushpuppies are more like hush-doggies--they were the size of a racquetball and tasty. My group shared fries, which were also tasty. I could not finish my sandwich and took it home for later. Hours later, still full. This is a food truck, so there's no real seating. We saw some picnic tables around, but weren't sure if they were from the car or tattoo place. But we were prepared anyway with camp chairs and a table. Trading fussy for taste is a good tradeoff.

If you live near here, are driving through here, live within driving distance of here or no matter the distance just want great BBQ this is your place! Based on fellow yelpers we went here looking for great food. My husband is VERY picky about his BBQ and this place left him in awe. We got the memphis pulled pork sandwiches, fries, hush puppies and a slab of baby back ribs with sweet tea to round it out. The pork is tender, smokey and well cooked. The sauce is a blend of slightly spicey, sweet goodness for your tounge and the roll... let me tell you about the roll. It traps all the pork and sauce goodness inside without going soggy on the outside. It tastes homeade and makes this sandwich a heavenly delight to eat. The fries are crispy with a great salt and thyme ( i think) mixture on them which is really tasty. The hushpuppies come with this lovely butter sugar cinnamon mixture to top them with and the slaw that you can have on or off of your sandwich... well I wasn't sure so I got it on the side and ended up dumping it on the sandwich it was that good. The ribs are fall off the bone tender, smoked to perfection. You would never know this place was here unless you looked it up. It sits behind the snakeman tattoo place and is absolutely worth the trip. There is parking and there are picnic tables if the weather is cooperating the day you go. I have lived here for 6 years and this is the first place that I have found BBQ worth eating. I grew up in the south and know what good BBQ is I promise you this is it. EAT HERE! You will be missing out if you don't.

For what you pay for ... this is a five star joint. Excellent sides ... excellent meat ... large portions ... etc. Usually, I like the turkey but don't like the brisket (Capital Q) or I like the chicken but I don't like the pork (Rocklands) ... here ... IT'S ALL GOOD.
(5)Steve K.
Love the brisket here. It is piled on high, and always awesome! Fries are probably the best I have ever had. Ask for the $10 special...sandwich, fries, and a soda. What a deal!
(5)Allison D.
I'm not sure what all the hubbub is about this place. I'm not going to be one of those idiots who say "I know good BBQ" because I probably don't. I've just had what I think is much better (although not really around here). I like Willard's in Chantilly and I like Black Hog downtown although their sides are tiny and their prices are exorbitant to say the least...but that's another review. I'm just doing some comparisons... I do agree that the fries were excellent; double fried and perfectly crispy unlike most other double cooked fries I've had that were mostly limp and greasy. The sweet tea was good...refreshing and not too sweet. The Kaiser rolls were good, although I wasn't able to pick up my Carolina sandwich because the vinegar and all the juice from the pork and slaw had soaked into it, creating a sloppy mess of the bottom portion of the roll and it was put in the same container with the fries so it was way too hot and greasy to pick up in the foil. I ended up eating it with a fork...not a huge deal but I'll definitely ask for it to be left out of the fry container next time. The pork just didn't taste smoked to me; it was very similar to a pork loin roast that we cooked in the crock pot a couple of weeks ago...kind of mushy and flavorless. The vinegar sauce was loaded with red pepper flakes that got kind of overpowering after awhile; luckily the slaw tamed it down a little. I had a taste of my boyfriend's Memphis pulled pork sandwich. It was OK but needed more BBQ sauce and had the same mushy pork. I noticed that everyone else who ordered before and after us got either the pit beef sandwich or the brisket by the pound. I'll probably go back some time and get the pit beef along with some of their onion rings that I'm dying to try after having their fries. I would have been happy with a selection of additional sauces or vinegar for the fries on a table outside.
(3)Steve M.
Outstanding! This was the best BBQ I have had in a long long time. There are a few places in the Frederick area that I thought were pretty good but Blues BBQ Company was the best. I had a brisket sandwich and it was massive and at a fair price for the size portion that I was given.
(5)Christa S.
This place is more than delicious! I LOVE this place - it's my favorite place to eat in Frederick. The pit beef is the best I've ever had anywhere. Not to mention, the staff is great, so friendly!
(5)Seth R.
One of the best BBQ places I have ever had. The place is a total whole in the wall, but so tasty. I had the carolina style pulled pork, which had the perfect amount of spice in it. The fries were the best part, whatever is in their seasoning makes them amazing.
(5)Amelia W.
I consider myself a Level II NCAA college athlete when it comes to recognizing good barbecue- I have eaten enough to know really good barbecue, but I'm not talented enough to have the skill to make it on ESPN during the season. Hence my opinion that this place is great for where we are in Maryland and for the price. The spices and sauces add enough to enhance but don't have the added effect of drowning the natural flavor of the meat. I haven't had all of the sandwiches (I'm not a big fan of barbecue chicken) but everything else has been soooo good. My personal favorite is the brisket, but when they are out (as it often is by the end of the day) I opt for the Memphis pulled pork. What makes the difference is the bread they use. The buns stand up to the sandwich; they don't fall apart and disintegrate due to the juice. Buns are big pet peeve of mine when it comes to barbecue- many places use a small, white bread bun that has no business being served at at anything besides a backyard cookout. Not this place- they have huge buns that actually enable me to eat the sandwich as a sandwich, and not get out my fork and knife. The sides are good too- we have gotten the onion rings, french fries, and scallion hush puppies. The hush puppies are what everyone raves about, but I prefer the french fries- a ton of spice and not at all dry like many other takeout joints. Fried to a juicy, greasy mess that makes my mouth water just thinking about them. I believe that food needs to be directly proportional the the price, and that's what I strive find anytime I step out my door for a meal. This place fits the bill when it comes to meeting that need, and I recommend it to all my friends. Big fan.

Great portions. Pretty good Pit Beef. I would have gave 5 stars, but I have to compare Blue's to the Pit Beef places I've tasted. Very good, but they add a too much dry rub. Classic Pit Beef should be simply seasoned so that the flavor of the smoke and beef are prominent.
(4)Alison S.
Today was my first visit. Loved it. Everything was delicious- Carolina pulled pork sandwich, spicy baked beans, hush puppies. It was a beautiful day, so I ate at one of the picnic tables. And I love that it's a food truck. Sometimes the best food comes from such eating establishments. I shall return.

Three and a half stars. Truck is barely visible from the road with a thin BBQ banner and lettered sign routing you behind Snakeman's tattoo/piercing/leather shop. Table and trash can nearby when the weather's willing, somewhat limited parking in the shared gravel parking lot. Blue's staff were friendly, though the money-handler was under the weather. Soda beverages available. They overcharged me on a different amount than their displayed menu stated, and forgot one of my sides-- both were resolved in a timely fashion. It's rare that I like the sides more than the meat at a BBQ spot. Fried pickles were awesome, definitely get those. Warm hush puppies were light on scallion, with a good crust and soft interior... sadly served with cold, hard butter. Coleslaw was okay. Half-tub of BBQ white & pink beans were hearty, with some pulled meat mixed in. Carolina style pulled pork sandwich was pretty dry, which the cashier insisted it was supposed to be despite the menu's apple vinegar sauce description. Smoked brisket sandwich was better, though the meat was sliced thin and there was barely any minimal bark. Kaiser rolls weren't super plush. Future hit list: the missile, pit beef/ham, baby back ribs, fried mac n cheese, ultimate muchos nachos, chili cheese fries, loaded baked potato salad.

So glad we came across this place thanks to Yelp while in the area! At first we had a hard time finding it as it was a bit hidden behind two buildings so we missed it at first. It's just a truck with a little shack built next to it. No indoor seating. I am forgetting the exact name of what I got but I think I got the Carolina - with slaw on top and a side of hush puppies. Really so yummy, I think some of my favorite hush puppies I have ever had. The sandwich had really great flavors and was HUGE. My only wish is that it had more slaw, but no other complaints!
(5)Jim O.
We have their ribs once a week. I think they have the best ribs in the Frederick area. Better than Black Hog in my opinion. Also they have very good hush puppies and fries.
(5)Amanda H.
I went to Blues on the recommendation of a friend because I was craving a pit beef sandwich. It takes them a little longer than expected just to put together one sandwich when I was the only customer, but it was a good sandwich. It came with the house bbq sauce already on it, but it didn't seem like there was much on it. There was a lot of meat on the sandwich, so that was great. My only complaint is that it was really peppery. I like pepper, but it was a bit much and I know I'm the only one in my family that could possibly stand to eat that much pepper, so I probably won't be going back very much.
(4)Stephanie B.
Come out here for the ribs and to score bonus points with your guy. This permanently parked food truck screams man food--and their ribs and fries are indeed tasty. They have four outdoor picnic tables under trees. Wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty or pack diaper wipes. A bathroom to wash your hands covered in grease? Fuhgeddaboudit. It's hard to find if you plug the address in to Google Maps--for once Yelp's map is more accurate. Don't even try to come here without GPS on a smartphone. Even on our second visit we accidentally passed it and had to turn around. A full rack of ribs and fries is plenty of food for two adults. The fries are seasoned beautifully and remind me of curly fries...but they were not very warm. The ribs are pretty good--dry rub and smoked--the way any good Texan (my husband) would like them. They're not as good as The Salt Lick, but we are a long way from Austin, TX. We had the brisket and ribs on our first visit--although the brisket is decent, just get the ribs. The only thing they need to improve is speeding up service a bit. It was about a 20 minute wait each time we came--which would be more tolerable if it were a regular restaurant.
(4)Kristi D.
Best BBQ in the area and maybe Maryland. I've only tried the Carolina pulled pork with slaw and it is amazing. The fries are better than Boardwalk fries and the hush puppies were good with the honey butter they give you. My kids love the ham and my husband well he eats anything. I really want to try the ribs but every time I go I get the pulled pork because it is that good. I recommend this place to a coworker who now goes there at least once a week. He said everything is delicious and I really need to try the ribs. They do take credit cards but sometimes the machine is down. The only seating is outside at picnic tables so plan to bring it home or dress appropriately for the weather. You won't be disappointed especially if you want good pulled pork.
(5)Shahryar M.
My god the food here is good. Pit beef sandwich is the way to go, although their brisket is signature. Plus, its the only place in town you can find real hush puppies. I knocked off a star cause they got my order wrong. I love their hush puppies, so you can imagine my surprise when i got back to my desk at work only to see french fries... which I enjoyed consuming as well, and shared with my coworker because they literally fill up the entire container with fries...so many french fries! and the salt...not sure if its too much or just too good, but whatever kinda salt they are using on those fries, they need to keep it up cause it is oh so good...and their bbq sauce is one of kind and they add just the right amount to the pit beef sandwich. Man...I thoroughly enjoyed eating that sandwich at work...its a great go to meal, and the wait is not bad if you don't call ahead. You can just walk right up to the window and order. I was a little apprehensive at trying this place out the first time I went, because it literally looks like a little shack with a deck attached to it, so its carryout only, but man good food comes from many places so I tried to be open minded and in the end, it was well worth it. Oh and like 90 percent of the menu is under ten bucks, WTF!
(4)Lauren S.
Great BBQ, had Carolina style, with hush puppies and sweet tea. Felt like I was back in the south. Not visible from the road so I recommend following the directions from others (located behind the tattoo and piercing place near the car dealership). We went on a beautiful spring day an ate at the picnic tables. Highly recommend!
(5)Susie N.
Best brisket sandwich I've ever had, and obsessed with their onion rings. Haven't had anything bad there and the staff is great. May be a little hidden but definitely worth looking for.
(5)Jeffrey G.
A little hard to find, but well worth the hunt. The brisket is tender and very flavorful, the only thing better are those darn hush puppies. I had to force myself to stop eating them. I always try to visit when visiting Frederick.
(4)Tori K.
Although somewhat hidden (there is a big BBQ sign in front of a tattoo and body piercing parlor and close to a KIA dealership), this is a real gem! We stopped for lunch with a party of six people and got an array of items off the menu (Memphis pulled pork, chicken sandwhich, ham sandwich with American cheese, fried pickles, hush puppies, fries, beans and the donuts with raspberry sauce) they were all excellent. It was fresh, hot and soo tasty. We will definitely be back.
(5)Ronnie T.
I am telling you that they are great deliciously taste plus combo are good reasonable! !
(5)Sam C.
Finding good BBQ in Maryland is like finding fresh crabs in Kansas; you compromise, you take what you can get, and you're happy you got any at all. Blues BBQ Truck is certainly a compromise, at least for those lucky enough to have been to Texas, Kansas City, St. Louis, or one of the other American BBQ Meccas. For those unfortunate souls whose idea of good BBQ is a McRib Extra Value Meal, Blues is the Bomb. Pit beef, pulled pork, hush puppies, fried pickles, and all within walking distance of an Asian massage parlor. Have some pulled pork for lunch, and get your pork pulled for dessert! Seriously... they should go into business together. Alright then, so where does this place come up short? It's a food truck. An old, weather-beaten, shady-looking food truck, parked behind Snakeman's Tattoo & Body Piercing. I'm sure the rent is hard to beat, but it's also hard to find. One has to ask the question, "where do they keep the smokers and the ovens?" Offsite? In Snakeman's basement? The food quality is good overall, but the brisket is too inconsistent to recommend. Sometimes it's fine, sometimes it's so fatty you can't help but wonder if the obesity epidemic has spread to America's stockyards. But I'd pick Blues any day over the Black Hog, or CarterQue, or Famous Dave's, or any one of the other local posers serving up sauced-covered meat. If you travel much and get a chance to visit Arthur Bryant's in KC or Franklin BBQ in Austin, you'll experience this culinary art form in all its smokey glory. And it doesn't come from a dirty lookin food truck.
(4)Ace Of S.
I was told by a friend they have good bbq so I tried it out a couple times. Really disappointing. Not good at all.
(2)Joseph F.
Best BBQ in Frederick If you get the lunch special (either fries, chili, beans, onion rings) just be careful its got some serious weight to it. Seen a girl once, almost drop it and scream wow its really heavy. The pulled pork both ways is fantastic. Get it with the coleslaw. Just be careful its messy. Don't go there wearing something nice. You will get bbq sauce on you some how. The seat in my truck is permanently stained from blues bbq sauce that fell between my legs. But the best thing their is the brisket. It melts and falls apart as if it was a petie fillet. Now its very hard to fine. 1st time I went (this was several years ago) I drove past it several times until I stopped at the case equipment dealer up the street to find out where it was. Its behind the tattoo place. The owner really needs to buy the tattoo shop and turn it into a sit down bbq joint. The line during lunch can get really long but its so worth it. Oh an maybe a sink outside some where for customers to clean up. But I doubt frederick health dept is going to allow that.
(5)Ellen T.
Yelp does it again! Decided to consult Yelp for lunch suggestions, this showed second on list. I had been to the first on list, so BBQ it is. Got the Carolina pulled pork sandwich and fries. It is enough food for 2. The sandwich is huge, they give you a zillion fries. Everything is delicious. I will be back!
(4)Dan B.
Hear-yea! Hear-yea! You's gots to gets some Blue's BBQ!!!! This place is no joke! I'm a first timer and dropped by today to try the beef brisket sandwich and an order of hush-puppies. After receiving my meal, I was amazed by the size and weight of the sandwich. The damn thing weighs almost two pounds. The sandwich was huge! The meat was slathered in a sweet tangy, mildly spicy, BBQ sauce; which, complimented the smokey flavor of the brisket. The potato bread flavored kaiser roll could not cover all of the meat that was spilling out the sides. The hush puppies, had a tasty sweet cornmeal flavor, were fried to a crispy golden-brown, providing them with a satisfying crunch. They are out of this world and will sit in your gut like lead bricks, as hush puppies should. A great lunch value, including a coke for $10.00. Though not much to look at, this truck stand serves up some mighty tasty and filling beef brisket BBQ sandwiches. Final judgement will be handed down after I try the baby-back ribs and see how they stacks up to Famous Dave's St. Louis spare ribs--definitely my favorite in Frederick so far. In the mean time, come and get some brisket! The food can be eaten on picnic benches under shade trees. Blue's is located right behind Snakeman's Tattoo, in the vicinity of the Harley dealership at 5822 Urbana Pike, in the back parking lot.
(4)Robin S.
This place is awesome! I've eaten here several times. It's way better than the other BBQ places in town (i.e., the Black Hog). Don't judge this book buy it's cover. All the sandwiches are awesome. The Memphis & Carolina BBQ Sadwiches are so freaking tasty. The fries are seasoned just right. The hush-puppies and the accompanying butter are so dang good. You have to try this place. Awesome for lunch, espeically when it's nice outside.
(4)James B.
Passing through Frederick at lunch time, Blue's BBQ had good reviews so I thought I'd give it a try. First, this restaurant is actually just a van on a gravel parking lot, hidden behind a tattoo parlor. It's -really- easy to miss, I did. Once making a u-turn and finding the van, I noticed the seating was at picnic tables under shade trees. OK, it was a beautiful day, eating outdoors was fine. Once I got my food, and looking for a seat, I found all but one table were filthy, stained, covered in debris from the trees and bird droppings. And the table I sat at wasn't exactly clean, just cleaner than the others. Yuck. The owner should wash off these tables before each meal if they are actually intended for guests to use, it would only take a few minutes. Others were sitting there eating lunch, so maybe this is normal??? If you are still reading, I'll tell you about the food. They offered Memphis-style or Carolina-style BBQ sandwich. I got Memphis-style with slaw on the sandwich, and a side of hush puppies. Normally I order beans as a side. I don't believe they offer beans (or they were sold out), seemed odd for a BBQ restaurant. I really wanted to like Blue's BBQ. After living in Memphis and Austin, I admit I'm a BBQ snob. Blue's BBQ was OK, not great, far from 5 stars. I would not recognize this sandwich as a Memphis-style BBQ. But the sandwich was huge and filling. The hush puppies tasted like they were fried in old grease, and they were over cooked, almost burned. I would not order hush puppies again. If you live/work nearby and are taking the food with you, I'd give Blue's BBQ 3 stars. Skip the hush puppies. If you need a place to sit and eat, I'd give Blue's BBQ 1 star. Go somewhere else.
(2)Dana Z.
I feel like I've done an injustice by my short previous review. As much as Blues BBQ leaves me at a loss for words by it's amazingness, I really need to stress that THIS IS THE BEST BBQ I'VE EVER HAD! Pretty much, anywhere I go for BBQ, Blues Truck is the place to beat. As of yet, I haven't been able to find better. My favorite is the Carolina pulled pork with slaw. The fries, are probably the best fries you will ever have. My brother usually gets the Pit Beef sandwich, which I've also tried and is just soooo good. I know most people won't make the trip out to Frederick for a food truck which is just sad to me. If you want to try the best BBQ, get yourself up to exit 31 on 270. They have a new location behind a tattoo place on 355.
(5)Kenzie F.
I wouldn't call myself a BBQ buff by any means, but I do appreciate good food, and this place has it! Conveniently located right around the corner from my boyfriends work, I finally got a chance to try what he had been bragging about when he brought us some sandwiches home. I loved it. I prefer my BBQ with sauce, and they used just enough without it being overkill on our sandwiches. Oh and the fries, the fries! They are some of the best I've had, and I can't wait to try more from this excellent BBQ joint.
(5)Kevin N.
I'm going to make it easy. GREAT BBQ!!!
(5)Victoria Z.
Every single time we have BBQ, my husband compares it to Blue's. If it's very very good BBQ, it will get a 9. Only Blues will get a 10. I'm not a huge BBQ fan, but I can tell you that this BBQ is something special. As proof, we have them cater our annual summer party and this year not a single scrap was left!
(5)James H.
I give these young ladies five stars. Great personal service. Beef sliced fresh. Great sauce. Wonderful fries seasoned fresh in a bowl right in front if you. I tried to order onion rings but they were already sold out. I will most definitely work my way through the menu over the coming year. Well done. With lots of competition, please give this local business a try!
(5)Colleen R.
I'm in love with the fries here, the BBQ is amazing and by that I mean best in all MD! I have been obsessed since I found them in old New Market and It has been a fave ever since! (The food truck now is somehow even better)
(5)Matt S.
Best pulled pork sandwich I've ever had. These folks know what they're doing.
(5)Chris Y.
This place is nothing to look at. I tried this place after reading about it in Washingtonian magazine. the bbq is money! I had the Carolina pulled pork sandwich and it was amazing. The fries were good too. Don't worry about the appearance, looks are very deceiving.

Un-frickin-believeable! I always drive past the blue truck but today I actually stopped. Can't believe I have been missing out this long. Just goes to show that you don't have to be a tv chef to know how to make incredible food. Don't pass this place by.

Best BBQ in Frederick. Pulled pork with fries a good portions. Out of the big blue bus no frills but great food. Give it a try when in Frederick.

Love it love it love it. Despite being relatively close by, the location is not on any of my regular routes. A few times a month though, I swing off 70 on my way home from Baltimore and my car just seems to go there by itself. Carolina BBQ w/coleslaw, HUSH PUPPIES to die for! Sometimes to save room for the hush puppies, I ask them to give the the Carolina BBQ and slaw without the bun. I beg to differ with D.C. I am a huge BBQ fan who spent more than 4 years commuting from Florida to D.C. I have eaten at at least 20 different barbecue places between Frederick and Florida, not to mention about a dozen along route 40 across the U.S. including Alabama , Louisiana, Mississippi and Houston (My husband doesn't like to fly). This is good bbq. My personal opinion is it's great, but everyone has their own favorite. I do wish they had a sit down place - otherwise I seem to scarf everything down in the car before I even get home.

It's BBQ. It's a van. It's GREAT! Personal favorites are the Brisket sandwich and puppies. The fries are very good and the onion rings are huge. Pretty damn good BBQ all the way up in Frederick. Can't beat that!

Great food!! The pulled pork (with extra sauce) is phenomenal. I usually get the onion rings or hush puppies as a side; both are good. As for sauces and spreads, I don't eat their honey cinnamon butter because I make a better one that's not melted and tastes sweeter. The onion ring sauce doesn't have horseradish in it (not that I can tell), so I don't like it much. Neither are bad, they're just not my preferences. In terms of service, they are always friendly, fast, and accept credit cards! This place is definitely a favorite in Frederick.

They've moved the truck. It's at 5822 Urbana, behind Snakeman's tattoo. I had the Kansas City Pulled Pork sandwich. It was pretty good. Fresh cut fries were delicious. We also tried the ribs, which were okay. I think that the ribs were par-boiled, which I'm not a fan of and the sauce was way too sweet. So overall, it was average.

I must be on a BBQ kick this week with my third review in as so many days. Getting to the point, I had just finished a covering an event when I decided to stop for some chow. Was on the south end, and had been meaning to try the road side truck for a while. Gotta admit, I'm a bit weary of buying food truck food, but figured it couldn't be any more dangerous than some of the places I ate at in Singapore off the street. My first reaction looking at the menu was, "Damn, seven bucks for a sandwich, and it doesn't even have fries with it!?" clearly my thoughts of lunch truck food for the blue collar worker went right out the window. I went lgiht today going with a beef brisket sandwich. While I waited and snapped off a few iPhone pix, I couldn't help buy notice two things. First, the number of people waiting, followed by the actual wait itself. I'd clearly suggest calling ahead. I have to assume that the truck can get quite backed up with customers during good weather. However, once I got my food and was able to try it, I have to admit, it was more than worth the wait. Unlike a lot of joint who pre-cook then reheat, Blue's makes their food to order so it is ready to eat the moment they are done cooking it. This makes their BBQ top notch for Frederick. Again thus blew my preconceived notion of a lunch truck meal. The first thing that hit me when I took a bite out of the sandwich was, it was moist,.The second thing I noticed was how much meat they stuffed in to the kaiser roll. I mean, it was a lot of meat, a good half pound or more on there. The sauce was pretty sweet, though it could have used a little more just to cover all that meat in there. Overall, I intend to head back over to the south end and try their fries and another sandwich between now and spring. It is clearly worth the cost, and the quality and service are well worth t he visit. Definitely one of the better BBQ joints in Frederick County. Location sadly is not easy to find, and you're not going to see it from the street. Sad they have yet to open the Carrol Creek location yet.

Went there for lunch today. All I can say is WOW! We had the brisket, pulled pork, BBQ beans, hush puppies and collard greens. All were incredible. We think this is the best BBQ in Frederick County. We will definitely be back again!

It's not often I find good barbecue in Maryland, much less up north in Frederick, but this is one establishment that I'm willing to trek the entire length of 270 North to visit. Blues has one of the best taste to square footage of establishment ratio given that everything is served ... out of a bus. Ms. Frizzle wishes her bus could do this. From Carolina pulled pork sandwiches to Beef Brisket with their tangy bbq sauce they just about nail everything on the menu. Their "Crack-a-lackin" fries come out crispy, well seasoned and generously portioned. Be sure to order the fried mac and cheese! There are a couple random tables outside the establishment but its mainly a carry-out place. I hereby dub the "The Magic Blues Bus"

I was so excited to try this place , I've heard good thing and read awesome things but it didn't meet my expectations . The food was good , not amazing . I would have rated them 3 stars but I was shocked when I saw their Facebook post on the top 3 BBQ places and put "this is the funniest thing I've seen all year" I didn't like the idea of them doing that . Give credit to the other places that has won . Don't me mad you didn't place . There is always next year . I'll stick to my black hog .

MMMMM. This review is brought to you by an almost-vegetarian. *Shaaame face* The Blue's BBQ Truck is one of those places that local people just seem to magically know about... and it's no wonder, considering it's hidden behind Snakeman's Tattoo parlor on Urbana Pike. You've got to be looking either for Snakeman's or for the waving banner proclaiming BBQ in the back. Park on the gravel, wait on the porch while they put your order together, and if the weather's nice, take advantage of the picnic bench. Or do like me and sit in your car with the music blasting, because I can't stop myself from eating it all before turning the car back on to drive someplace nicer to eat. My vegetarian honey loves their french fries and onion rings. But what I die for is the smoked. pulled. chicken. OHMIGAWDDDD. They announce their daily specials on facebook, and if I see that the smoked pulled chicken sandwich is on the menu for the day, I will actually change my plans for the day so I can get there. Regardless of the weather. Regardless of whether I already had lunch. Regardless of human decency. I've also had the beef brisket, which I liked quite a bit, although I rarely eat beef. I've been informed by good friends that their pulled pork is "OM NOM NOM." I also agree with my poor, deprived, vegetarian darling that their fries are delish, although I don't think they're *that* extraordinary. They're good, and you're given a HEAPING portion (it's usually a good sign when grown men say, "Damn, I'm glad I only got the small"), but nothing I'd write home about. (Although they get bonus points from me for keeping the skins on... why does everyone insist on naked potatoes? The skin's the only healthy part and the only way I can justify eating them, guys!).

Closed Sundays. Somehow this was not obvious on the Yelp app. So after a 50 mile ride for lunch (oh ... sure we came to Frederick for its charming Old Town, river walk and historical sites... ) pretty disappointing. Clearly this is worth the trip. Note, the Yelp / Google Map gets you around the corner from the truck. The entrance is off the main road ... The truck is behind the tattoo parlor. We'll be back.
