Rita's as you'd expect! Cold, delicious and a shining STAR in this neighborhood! We all need a Rita's close by right? SE, DC could use a Rita's ASAP! Things to note and why this isn't a five star review: Ok. You decide and rectify any order and pay FIRST. You move down, if you can, to where another server takes your receipt and you wait for them to clarify the order and make your treat. It's like doing this TWICE, when I'm used to going through the order and what I want once. Maybe this is better for their business and to handle the volume of people, but for the customer, it's a bit annoying. I feel all of the portions of my treats are slighted (don't want to call it stingy but...) Inventory control? The prices aren't cheap here for what you're getting, but I always look at my treat and notice that I feel the serving is smaller than I'd get at another location. I justify it by convincing myself I don't need more anyway. (Chinatown location is my preferred choice.) You have to request to scan the QR code for your Rita's rewards. When you don't see it, you forget! A visit wasted. If you want Rita's on this side of town, this is where you get it.

Rude older woman working as manager, does not kknow how to treat customers. I went to this location in Forestville with my two children. Rude older woman says customers are not supposed to grab their own spoons for sanitary reasons, I ask her where is the sign, she replies we dont need a sign you should just know. I will not be going back because of the rude woman. If customers can't get their own spoons then create a sign or put them somewhere where customers cant have access to them and please work on customer service instead of being rude. When getting icecream with children, the experience should be fun and I should not be met with rudeness

Location, is well staffed, young and enthusiastic. Uplifting musical selections, well, run establishement. Wish they had a few more flavor options. Otherwise, It's water ice, plus more. Get you some.

Yesterday, I had Rita's Italian Ice for the first time and I am hooked. Low price, great taste all around sweet treat. The location in Forestville is not ideal because of cramped parking. It was kinda hidden next to the GameStop. Other than the geography it's a clean space, courteous employees and right down the street. Can't wait to try the other icee flavors then maybe move on to custard.

Riddle me this: why is Rita's not open year-round? I mean, I understand that everyone is not checking for Italian ice and gelatos in the dead of winter but... they should! I really like this location because it seems to stay under the radar, which means it's never overly crowded. Even when there are a few people in line, it tends to move rather quickly (though some days are a miss when it comes to quick service). The place is always immaculate and every time I'm there, there is always a seat to grab if you'd like to stay, relax, and enjoy your frozen treat. Of course my recommendation is the gelato (and I can't help but get the large one because (1) I don't get to Rita's very often and (2) it's only like 50 cents more - such a deal!). My favorite Italian ice flavor is pear (ooooh... pear!! ) but I don't usually find it that often so I also have my back up flavors (like tropical punch or strawberry margarita). Whatever your preference, just make sure you make it Rita's at least once this summer!

On Saturday June 28, 2014, I visited this Rita's store location for the first time and ordered the vanilla custard cone. When I took a small lick of the custard I noticed it was thicker than usual much like frozen pudding and the custard had a weird taste. Even the associate who prepared the custard ice cream cone apologized when he handed the cone to me because of the appearance of the custard. Also, he had a hard time squeezing the custard out because the custard was getting stuck in the machine. After tasting the custard, I informed the young man who handed me the cone that the custard had a weird taste, so he informed the young lady working at the register. The young lady asked me what I didn't like about the custard and I repeated what I had told the young man that the custard has a weird taste. She then told me that I couldn't make an exchange at the counter that I had to go back to the register to do an exchange. I did not understand at that time why I had to return to the register to replace an item I had already paid for, but I did as requested so to not to cause any trouble or confusion. After standing in line for over 5 minutes the young lady apologized and told me she would give 50% off what ordered to replace the custard. Now, I thought this was part of the apology, I thought she was taking 50 percent off the $4 I had already paid, but I was obviously wrong because the young lady preceded to tell me that I owe her $1.45. Now, this really confused me because I thought the transaction was an exchange. She then told me Rita's policy was that they (Rita's) cannot do exchanges for products already made. The young lady did not explain this to me prior to me standing back in line. Prior to me returning the custard ice cream cone. 1. I understand my returning the custard ice cream cone is a lost for the company, but as I told the young lady, I already paid almost $4.00 for something I did not like and did not eat, then to pay an additional $2.00 does not make sense. 2). The young lady did not attempt to reach out to someone, in particular the mgr, nor did she direct me to a posted policy ... As she stated that once they (Rita's) prepare it Rita's cannot exchange 3) I'm really not sure what exchange means in this case, but this is the term the Rita's associates used. 4) I have visited other Rita's locations quite often. I have had the vanilla custard many times before as a Gelati and Blendini just not on a cone by itself. But I know what it tastes like, even if I had never had this before, it does not change the fact that something was wrong with this custard. 5) I wasn't looking for a refund nor was I seeking a freebie. I just wanted something refreshing on a hot day; most importantly a custard ice cream worth $4 6) This experience to Rita's was an unpleasant one and I left robbed because I spent $4.00 on a product that was thrown away by one of Rita's employees. Suggest Rita's store cashiers and others need to be educated properly and thoroughly regarding your products. As you can see, I am very passionate about Customer service. I am disappointed and unhappy with this Rita's establishment.

This is my favorite local Rita's by far... Consistent flavors and hard working employees.

Still completely impressed with this location... The staffers are patient and friendly, and they still are very diligent in keeping the tables spotless.
