Shea's has been around for a long time and for a good reason. They serve a great breakfast at a reasonable price. The old Shea's is gone and a new one that is much bigger and better has replaced it in the Country Ridge Shopping Center where the old Ames sign still hangs. It is much larger and looks great. There are booths and tables with plenty of room between them. I went on a Tuesday morning for breakfast with friends. I ordered the $1.99 breakfast with two eggs over easy, home fries and two pieces of toast. I have not been to Shea's in years and was totally surprised they still had this. The breakfast menu is fairly extensive. Others remembered the pecan waffles and tried them. They thought they were delicious. The cinnamon roll french toast seems to be a popular choice. I will definitely be back to try other items on the menu. The waitress was friendly and did not rush us as she came back several times till we were ready. The food was delivered quickly and was hot. I see that they are serving lunches now but this review is only about the breakfast. I would feel confident to try lunch there as the food has always been fresh and delicious. So if you are in the neighborhood this is a great choice for breakfast. You will not be disappointed. It is a unique experience.

This place is a staple in ALL my visits to Maryland. Every time I come here I'm warmly greeted by a friendly face and promptly seated. Service is always on point and is probably one of the best hearty breakfast's I've had. The array of breakfast food's is every-growing and there are SOOOO many options, one of the biggest breakfast menu's I've seen. They have perfect portions to choose from for any appetite. You can't go wrong with Shea's unless you're a food snob and can't enjoy a hearty, homey and awesome meal.

New location offers some challenges(size). Service is decent. Food is consistently tasty and fresh. Breakfast is their specialty. I love their breakfast burrito.

There were no breakfast menus or indication that they noticed that we were there for breakfast at 7:15am.

Sheas is one of my favorite places to eat. Billy does an awesome job. Recommend this to anyone

I used to go here all of the time, we stopped about six months ago, the food went downhill and the new staff was not nice at all. I was eating lunch with my father when one waitress slammed salt and pepper shakers on the table. It's sad to see this place slide under.

My husband and I live down the street from Shea's and go there about once a week. It's exactly what you would expect for it based on it's location....a small restaurant frequented by locals with decent food at reasonable prices. The best thing about Shea's are the waitresses. For the most part they are friendly and great at their job! We are creatures of habit and they always know our drink wishes when we walk in and usually remember how we like things cooked(eggs over medium, etc.). I'd give it 5 stars if it weren't for the fact that occasionally when you sit down you get a sticky seat or a wall with food splatters all over it. They could be a little more thorough with cleaning. All in all a great little place to eat.

Shea's is an outstanding restaurant doing what it does best, serving inexpensive meals that taste good and still provide outstanding service. And that's exactly what I experienced on my last visit there. We went for supper, at around 5pm on a Sunday. Only 2-3 tables were occupied. We received a friendly greeting when we entered and were allowed to sit wherever we wanted. Our waitress (and I wish that I could remember her name) was very polite and provided us with excellent service. We ordered hamburgers and fries. The hamburger patties were very good, cooked just how we liked them. The fries also were good. It was tempting to have dessert but the portions are so larger that we had no room for anything more. I have had desserts before from Shea's however and they are delicious.

Good little place for breakfast. I got the two eggs, breakfast meat and pancakes/waffle/french toast combo. Eggs prepared perfectly and the link sausage is delicious. French toast was just ok, so I'd probably try the pancakes or waffle next time. They have pourable syrup rather than in small disposable tubs, so they win out over the Silver Moon Diner in that respect. Wait staff was friendly and helpful. That breakfast plus coffee cost me a little over $10, not including tip, so the prices are reasonable, but I wouldn't necessarily characterize it as "cheap."

oh Shea's, you are the ultimate cheap breakfast in a somewhat clean environment. I remember when you used to be Jad's. One of the better eateries in Essex.

I went to Shea's this morning for breakfast and I expected it to be busy because of the holiday. I did not expect to wait nearly 30 minutes for my order. The bright spot was the fact that the server was friendly and helpful. When my order finally came I was very disappointed. The scrambled eggs had no flavor and the pancakes were as heavy and as yellow as cornbread. They totally absorbed the syrup I put on them. I've never had pancakes so thick, dry and tasteless. The meal was definitely not worth $10.00. I really cannot see why they are called the best breakfast in Baltimore. I've had better. #weneedawafflehouseinbaltimore

Ordered a Supreme Omelette with home fries, toast, and a coffee. Total came to $10.79. Omelette was good and had just enough filling. They were out of onions so the home fries were just fried chunks of steak fries, but they were good and crispy. Coffee was good as well. The waitress was friendly and service was fast. The crowd was mixed with the finest people known to Essex (see also: people of Walmart chain email).

The best breakfast in town! I've been going to Shea's for years and I have to say they have the best and cheapest breakfast hands down! Try the cinnamon roll french toast! I could eat them till my heart stops!

Ok, so I have been coming to Shea's for years and the first review is pretty much the most inaccurate thing I've ever read on yelp. While I understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinions, I think they should still recognize the facts. Shea's is a cute, small, friendly place. It's true the tables are really close to one another but I've never felt that was an issue (just my opinion). The menu is HUGE and includes everything from standard bacon, eggs, and toast platters to breakfast burgers to breakfast quesadillas. Their six egg omelets are amazing and a bargain with all the topping they put in them and are the same price as a regular diner's 3 egg omelets. I personally recommend the seafood omelet, which is delicious if you like seafood even if you've never considered putting crab or scallops in eggs before. Shea's recently started offering lunch as well and the menu includes stuffed burgers which sound amazing, it's too bad I always come here ready for breakfast. The bottom line is this place is a little gem in the middle of nowhere in Essex and I rank it on my top places to go to when you want breakfast done right.

So the crowd isn't what you'd find at Miss Shirley's or Blue Moon... so what? You're in Essex. It was bustling at noon on Saturday. Service was friendly, and food arrived promptly. It was good. Not gourmet, but I was wanting to eat something close to my grandmother's cooking. For the most part, this hit the spot. Not many places around Bmo can pull off decent gravy. Shea's isn't bad at all with a bit of salt & pepper. My meal came with bacon. Most places give you 2 pieces; Shea's gave me 8!

First time in Essex and I picked out Shea's based on previous Yelp reviews. The breakfast menu was pretty massive and I felt a little overwhelmed but I went with my ol' stand-by: biscuits and sausage gravy. It was as good as any I've had in the south. A nice touch was getting a whole carafe of coffee so the staff doesn't need to be bothered with refills as often. Not sure if I'll be in Essex again anytime soon, but if I am, I will make an effort to return to Shea's.

What's happening to Shea's? When they first moved to the new location I was impressed with the expansion and the quick and tasty food. Unfortunately, none of the things that made Shea's great were not present today. After waiting 30 minutes for a booth with open tables and one guest ahead of our party we finally were seated. Ten minutes go by and the hostess feels bad and takes our drink order, no sign of a waitress. Now at 40 minutes our food order is taken. Another 30 minutes goes by and half of our food shows but the server doesn't know whose food is whose. They were breakfast burritos so there wasn't anyway to tell unless you cut them open. You'd think the person picking up the food would have some communication with the cook. The overwhelming feeling the staff gives off is that they could care less about the customers and are looking for jobs somewhere else. As I look around the restaurant now with my food, I see the unhappy faces of other guests, noting that the party ahead of ours still hasn't gotten food. It appeared no manager was in sight to expedite the lag of food but with 8 people in the kitchen you'd think 2 would be doing something useful. The only saving grace is that the food is actually good but with apathetic staff and a 2 hour experience I'm sad to say this will be my last visit. Hopefully they can find a manager and some better servers to restore Shea's to the way things once were.

We visited Shea's because a friend from the area stated they had the best breakfast in the area.Well everyone is entitled to their opinion. The pluses:The wait was not that long even though it is a lot smaller than it appears. The wait staff was very friendly. They had a cute condiment stand and fresh flowers at the table. The coffee and fruit juice were tasty. The minuses:Alot of the tables were wobbly. The prices were higher than I expected and alot of things were a la carte.I got french toast..and it was not that great...at all.tasted more egg than anything. My eggs were blah as well.My husband got bacon and I tried a piece and it was good and well cooked.Because of the size of the place you can hear alot of the conversations. We had the pleasure of sitting near some ignorant rednecks.I would not waste my time or money.

I already reviewed this great place but I have one request for this site and that is to update the photo of Shea's. They moved to Country Ridge Shopping Center which is a little strip Mall further down the street and across the street from its original location. Any one looking for this place by the photo of a single large building on the wrong side of the street may miss this exceptional place. Not fair to Shea's or anyone hungry for great food and service.

Service is usually slow, but the food is great. Avoid the omelets.
