This place rocks! It is a family restaurant that is family owned and run! My first visit was 20 some years ago with my parents friends on the way to go sailing out of the Sassafras River. Great food then and now. The owners are the next generation and they update the menu frequently. They keep the old favorites, Meatloaf Monday, Ham and Cabbage Wednesday, Chicken and Dumplings Thursday, Prime Rib Saturday. Now I live in the area and frequent the restaurant whenever I can. I hardly cook, Friday Mac, Cowboy Rueben, Robin Hood panini , Mussels, Shrimp and Scallops, did I mention the burgers? There is live music in the bar on Friday and Saturday nights, and I just celebrated my 50th birthday on their outdoor patio. Thanks for the shout out Jamie S. If you haven't tried this restaurant in a year or so, or if you've had a one time bad experience, come back! They have 3 menus, including the bar menu, you're bound to find something that strikes you. Renovations were made in 2013 and this year to add the stage, update the restaurant and add bar seating. I love this place!

First we ordered the crab dip, it came and it was basically cheese dip with zero crab. No flavor and otherwise blah. Waitress was meh. She seemed like she had something better to do and was pretty much unpleasant. My wife asked for the prime rib, and she replied with it will come out how it comes out. Probably medium though. I ordered the shepards pie which when came out was covered in cheese and had no vegetables in it. Very bland and tasteless. It had a very thin layer of ground beef, and then white corn, cheese and mashed potatoes. That's no way I've ever had a shepards pie. All in all we won't be coming back.

We have been going to Baker's for years! Thursday nights Chicken & Dumpling Special is the BEST! You can order take-out OR bring your own pot and they'll fill it with goodies to go! They have a fast, friendly staff and the food is always served hot and fresh. Keep up the good work! Looking forward to coming back again soon!

I really can't find a bad thing about this place. OK, to be clear this is a place for "old people". Interpret that however you want. I came here with my senior parents and we had a blast. You wouldn't go to a hooka bar if you didn't smoke, would you? You wouldn't go to a steakhouse if you were militant vegan would you? Well, yea, you probably would but that's probably because you're a jerk. So, if you complain that this is an old person's place I pity you because you are really gonna be bitter when you get that age. You should probably stay home. Oh and the pillow. There's a nice small throw pillow in every booth. This is a nice touch that just might come in handy at times. So yea, we walked up to the place and the patio was reserved for Denise's 50th birthday party. Happy Birthday, Denise! And people kept showing up through our entire stay. That tells you that this placed probably has some good roots. +1 They have the Dogfish Head Punkin Ale for $4.25. Let me repeat that. They have the Dogfish Head Punkin Ale for $4.25. Everything about my meal was impressive. The side salad was a real salad not just large leaf iceberg with 2 giant cucumber slices and a cherry tomato cut in half. It came on a pate big enough to spread it around and it was chopped up nicely. Ooh. Ingredients! Since it was Mac Friday I had one of their many offerings of mac and cheese. Now, mac and cheese has never really caught my eye on a menu but I gave this one a try and went for the crab mac and cheese and yowzer! There was more crab in this mac and cheese than in the last crab cake I ate. Crabby mac was outstanding! I got up to walk around the place and noticed a nice size bar on the other end of the restaurant and a small stage where someone was just starting to set up for some musical stylings. I could really get used to this place. Everything about it just felt good. I'm a fan.

Had a great family dinner on Saturday March 29, 2014. Celebrated our grandmothers 83rd birthday with gang of 7 including her two great grand kids. We enjoyed everything, crab fries amazing, the specials were great, crab bisque delicious, good prime rib and even a well received kids menu. Our waitress was most pleasant and even helped with our brought in cake. The bill was even very reasonable.

"It's a diner for older people" The big sell for this place seems to be that it has been around for fifty-odd years, which would explain their clientele, who have all most likely eaten there since they were 15. The food, as noted by others, is basic diner fare, though the menu is minuscule by the standards of most diners. I got their beef liver with onions (yes, eww, I know, but I like it, normally), and the lack of a "how would you like that cooked" should have been an alarm bell. What I got had been cooked to the consistency of shoe leather, and was barely edible. The fries and cole slaw were good, however. My girlfriend had the turkey sandwich, which was, I quote, "the worst thing I've ever eaten". Maybe if I was 30 years older, this place would have some appeal, but for now, I'm avoiding it like the plague. Please note that the staff were all very friendly and accommodating, but that doesn't help the food much.

Was just in and I wanted a chance to say how much I enjoyed it. The food was Delicious and I loved my waitress she was hysterical. The atmosphere was beautiful I loved the attention to detail and the store. I will defiantly be back. Thank you!

I love this place. The crab bisque, crab ravioli, house salad dressing, crab cakes (broiled), and pot roast are great. But still my favorite is the whiskey bread pudding! Yum! Service is usually good, have had an unfriendly visit once or twice (over 6 years), but that is definitely not "the norm". The remodel did a world of good for the atmosphere.

One of the best places to get chicken and dumplings! I look forward to the hospitality from the most accommodating hostesses. The atmosphere is friendly and inviting. Definitely a repeat destination. I would not say it is for old people unless you find yourself old at the age of 30? The seating is comfortable and invites you to relax and enjoy dessert!

Our Nacho appetizer was good. As for the steak our server didn't know if it was pan seared or seasoned. Not that it is a big deal, but maybe they should try or observe how the food is made. A good steak doesn't need A1 and this one did. It lacked flavor but was cooked right and a decent Ribeye cut. My Fiance said her salad was very fresh and tasty. Her Filet Mignon was also lacking in the taste department. Note to the cook staff: Take note of how an Outback steak tastes and come up with a good seasoning pack. We will eat here again just not the steak!

Ordered a New York strip medium rare and received a flavorless, beaten shoe leather scrap that was medium well. When I brought it up with the waitress, she acted like nothing was wrong. Never again.

Good food, cheap. Try the burgers, fried chicken, or chicken and dumplings.
