Perfect medium rare pit beef. Delicious coleslaw. Regular size fries enough for two adult. Nice ambient. Overall very satisfied. Will be back to try the other offering in the menu for sure.

After living in the area for several years, my family finally decided to try this place out. On the recommendations of others on yelp we tried the pit beef, which was good though nothing special. The ribs were drenched in an over powering sauce, but it's a darn good thing they were because the ribs themselves were dry and totally without flavor. A portion of then were so tough we were unable to eat them. The pulled pork tasted like it came out of a can. It was entirely inedible. Of the menu items we tried, the pit beef and the fries were the only things passable. But the beef is worth a return trip.

Large pit beef is one of the best that I have had. Huge pile of super tender pit beef. The regular fry is huge! Local private owners that support local sports teams.Just the kind of place that I like to support. TRY IT OUT!

Food is good. But the staff is not friendly at all. When I walk in , they should have a smile and ask me how I am doing and what can I get for you. Be personable. Instead they just stand there and wait for me to say something.

Best pit beat, ham, and turkey around! In fact all they're food is great here. We come from my airy all the time to eat or pick up food here. Sandwich portions are generous. The beans and potato salad are the best. We actually get containers of both when we have got togethers at our house , they are fantastic. You can't go wrong with Smokeys. The only place we go for pit sandwiches.

I've been going here for at least eighteen years now - since it was the Canopy! What's amazing is that it seems like nothing has changed - from the inside of the restaurant to the quality of the food. I've really only had the pit beef and turkey when it comes to main courses, and they are truly so delicious. Maybe not the best ever, but definitely the best in the area! The boardwalk-style ocean fries are excellent, and the cole slaw is my favorite ever. The junior special is certainly the best deal you can get! Overall, you get great, quick food for a great value. What's not to love when you're in Eldersburg?!

We have been here a few times over the years. Their junior sandwich meal is the best deal, the smaller sandwich is just the right size which I get with the fries (you get a hearty serving of these and they are the yummy boardwalk style great with vinegar) and chili (fairly good but not awesome, has a BBQ sauce feel to it). Both the pit beef and turkey are really good, bread is fresh, and the tiger sauce is my fav (I am a fan of horseradish). I will say it is best to stick with the pit sandwiches, we have strayed before and tried the half BBQ chicken (dry) and baked potato (obviously not a big seller, tasted like it had been sitting for too long waiting for an unsuspecting customer to come along). The real star of this establishment has been the owners who have been generous to the Eldersburg community. Over the years they have supported several of my parent's church's events.

This is a family favorite. I always get the juniors special with ham & the baked beans. It comes with enough fries for two people. The ham is one of the best around. My husband gets a ham/turkey combo sandwich and loves it. My kids get the open face turkey or the ribs. I tried the chili today and it was really good, thick and not like a soup. Just the way I like it. I have tired the ribs in the past and they are always a hit or miss. Most of the time they are overcooked, but the few times we get them just right. They are good. Unfortunately the ribs are a gamble and you never know. Maybe you can ask to look at them first. They put the sauce on for you so you can control the amount. I've tried the pit beef and had it better at other places, so I stick with the ham. Overall a great place for sandwiches especially ham.

Great food and good prices. Huge portions and this is some of the best pit beef and turkey that I've had in a long while.

Best BBQ in the area, but not the best around unfortunately. The pit beef is solid, the pit ham is good. Ribs and chicken are just OK, usually tend to be too dry imo. The pork BBQ is disappointing. Their standout item by far is their cream of crab soup. Fantastic!! The sides, eh. The fries are good, boardwalk style. The green beans are from a can, blech. The baked beans and potato salad aren't much better, unfortunately.

Don't fool yourself thinking what you get at Arby's is roast beef. You need to come to Smoky's BBQ. This place is great. I even make the 45 minute drive quite often to get here. Make sure you try the Cream of Crab on the weekends. Also, the cole slaw is the best I've ever had!

Had the ribs. Excellent. The sides were tasty and generous as well.

We love this place. The amount of food you get for the price is crazy. Good BBQ, lots of seating. Staff keeps the place clean. Definitely no other place in Eldersburg that comes close to Smoky's for best taste and quantity for the price. In fact, we have been going here for about 4 years but I intentionally never wrote a review before now out of pure selfishness. They get a lot of business as it is, and sometimes there is a long line for food. If you life I the area, love BBQ, and have never been to Smoky's, you're missing out big time.

The pit beef and turkey are both excellent. Cream of crab soup you can get on Friday and Saturday is also really good. My favorite place to eat in Eldersburg.

My never ending search for good barbecue led me to a strip mall in Sykesville, MD. Well actually, a cavity led me here: my dentist is located a couple of store fronts down. I had heard about Smoky's from some friends who were enamored with their ribs. So, when opportunity meets desire.... I stopped by determined to see what all the fuss was about over these ribs. Sadly, the best ribs that I have had north of the Mason Dixon were from Famous Dave's (I feel dirty having to say that..). But its true! Most of the ribs I have had have been boiled in sauce with nary a smoke ring in sight. Could Smoky's hold the answer to my soul's deepest longings? I walked into Smoky's determined to find a great rack (of ribs) and I walked out with... a BBQ pork sandwich.... How in the heck did that happen?!?! My love for ribs is trumped only by my love for chopped/pulled pork. Whenever I visit a BBQ place, I gotta try the pulled pork. So to make a long story short... I got distracted. I should have known better though when the workers couldn't answer most of my questions about the pork. What kind of wood is used to smoke it? How long does it smoke for? Is it smoked dry? Dry rub? Vinegar baste? From what I gathered it's oven steamed, pulled, and then mixed with bbq sauce and left to simmer until it loses all textural semblance to actual pork. I still can't figure out why almost everyone in Maryland cooks pork shoulder like this. Smoky's seems like a nice neighborhood hangout. The prices are reasonable and the portions are big. Really wish they had sweet tea though. If you're looking for good northern bbq, this is a good place to eat. ***To be fair, the guy behind the counter warned me that the pork was not going to be similar to North Carolina. So I blame myself for my stupidity.***

I don't claim to be a BBQ connoisseur either, but this is tops for the Eldersburg area. I had the Pit Beef sandwich and, with a little extra BBQ, it didn't disappoint. They also give you a healthy size serving of fries so a regular will do, and they are delicious, perhaps also the best fries in Eldersburg. The bottom line: reasonable prices, family owned and operated, good food cooked fresh.

Just walking into Smoky's makes my lips smack with anticipation. As soon as you walk into the door your senses succumb to a rich smoky smell and BBQ sauce. You get your food cafeteria style which allows you to see all the food and food prep. Several types of BBQ sauce are available to satisfy different tastes. Our whole family is especially fond of the ribs and I always have to get some extra for left overs. The staff has always been great, friendly, and helpful. They do make comments on my Steelers shirt when I wear it as they are mostly Ravens fans, go figure. But it is all good natured. The sandwiches are good here as well, as is the coleslaw and fries. I've not tried the deserts or soups. I would highly recommend Smoky's to anyone who likes BBQ, either to eat in or carry out.

Excellent open face hot turkey sandwich, fries are great. Definitely repeat customer.

This is more of an authentic bbq joint. Considering it's location, it still attracts lots of diners and I'd say that speaks volumes. My husband and I really enjoyed our first trip to Smoky's because an acquaintance of ours really talked it up, so we naturally were excited to try it. We sampled ribs, pulled pork, chicken wings and fries. Overall, our experience deserved an "A" grade for it's food. The pulled pork, for me, is always the litmus test for bbq places. The portions are very hearty. The ribs are truly authentic smoked meat. Flavor is spot-on. The fries, of course, are terrific. It's a great place for bbq, hands down. Certainly nothing fancy, no fanfare, but simple, great food.

Now, I'm just a novice in the BBQ arena, so I've certainly no authority to say what's the best or the worst. I do know this: the ribs I had here were delicious. When I visited, it was pretty busy and this place was moving like a well-oiled machine. Nothing was standing still in this cafeteria-style dining room. My wife had some ribs with a different flavor sauce and hers was just as good as mine (if i recall, there were three sauces to choose from). The fresh-cut fries were also fantastic. I'll definitely be stopping back.
