Went here on 29 July 2015. It's a nice place. Server was great, and the food was decent. I got the NewYorker sandwich. I'd go back again.

Decent food, super slow service. I felt bad for our waitress, who was responsible for a table of ten, and had to carry all the plates and everything quite a distance through the restaurant on her own. That might be why lunch here took approximately two hours on a Friday starting at 1:00PM. However, I was pleased with the restaurant being able to accommodate substitutions of fries and coleslaw for a healthier option of salad and beans to go alongside an already heavy lunch of pulled brisket sandwich. We were given cornbread to start as well, so this was a really intense lunch. The sandwich was pretty tasty, and the beans were a good side dish. The salad was totally boring, but most side salads are. Definitely be prepared to take a nap after eating here!

Not quite what to make of this place. I went when they were having a Wednesday special where they have 1986 prices or something like that. Due to that the food was super cheap. Cheap mediocre food is so much better than expensive mediocre food. I had the ribs and a side of fries and slaw. I don't eat slaw so I couldn't tell you much about it. It seemed on the 'wet' side of slaw if that means anything to you slaw eaters. The ribs were 'fine'. Not chewy as some reviewers mentioned. Mine were cooked pretty decent. You want them to stick to the bone as you pick it up but for the meat to come off easy when pulled/bitten into. The bone should be dry and clean as the meat comes off. They accomplished that. Now, was it smoked for hours and cared with attentiveness like each rack deserves? no. There was little smokiness to the taste. You can also get your ribs, 'well done' I think they called it. This essentially means, extra grilled until most of the surface is burnt. I would imagine it toughens the meat up and I can't imagine doing that to the flavor but 2 people in our party said they do it all the time. I am guessing they also order their rib-eye well done which makes them lucky I still talk to them. The sauces had a lot to be imagined. This was the most disappointing part for me. If you are going to be a BBQ place, you have to take pride in your sauce. I don't need more than 1, maybe 2 kinds, but they should taste like they didn't come out of a gallon bucket. Even if they do, add some spices and flavor for goodness sakes. All-in-all, since I paid less than $10 for my ribs it was 'okay'. Otherwise I might have been a bit pissed.

Sigh. The time has come. After 35+ years of frequenting Adam's Ribs Edgewater (dine in and take out) it's time to call them out. Great: The ribs - 90% of the time. They run into some rough patches where they are chewy and lacking in any flavor - sans the sauce. Good and consistent: BBQ chicken; Pulled Pork BBQ; Dinner rolls: tasty, with slight sweet note; Steamed shrimp; Onion loaf: Good 2/3 of the time. Too often over cooked and/or absolutely dripping in oil. So-so: Crab cakes. Very Meh.; Cole slaw: Remember what you ate at South River High School?; French fries: Very sad. Dry, reconstituted, frozen things? Mashed potatoes: except recently very, very dry. My kid said they were like eating play-doh. Terrible: Most of the veggies (broccoli is pretty good). "Kitchen cut" green beans that seem right out of a Sam's Club can; Overdone baked potatoes' And the worst ever sweet potatoes. WORST! Take a look at the pic I uploaded here. Cooked to smithereens every single time, dry as all get out, and not much bigger than a toddler's fist. Have not eaten anything that is not listed above - so can't comment on those. Somebody needs to clean house here. It ain't what it used to be. Woefully inconsistent in the kitchen and too much sub-par quality of certain ingredients and core food items. Pretty darn good: The wait staff and bartenders. On the ball for the most part. Attentive. Quick. Friendly.

Went for dinner. No wait for seating. Establishment was 75% full on first floor. Our server was prompt and my wife and I started with a diet soda and a draught beer. We had the Chili Con Queso appetizer which arrived within 10 mins. It was a plentiful dish with lots of warm, crispy tortilla chips. The dip tasted scrumptious and was filling. For our entrée, we had the Ribs and Chicken. It came with 2 sides. The ribs were hot, smoky and oh so tender and moist. The chicken, a full half, was hot, moist and tender as well. My wife had the baked beans and a sweet potato for her sides and both were so good. I had the baked potato and cole slaw. The potato I got was barely lukewarm. Our prompt server was quick to bring it back to the kitchen and back to me within a few minutes hot and tender. Our server was attentive but not bothersome. When finished she offered dessert, but we couldn't finish the entrees and she brought us carry-out containers straight away. A most wonderful experience that left us feeling full and satisfied. We will definitely be returning.

It makes me sad to write this review because I remember a day when I loved Adams... I can't imagine what people that think Adam's Ribs "ribs" these days are fantastic or even good normally eat! There was a time in the last century when Adams had good food. That time has long since gone. As an example, their ribs aren't smoked at all -- they are boiled and finished off on the grill with regular old Open Pit BBQ Sauce. The ribs are touch and chewy -- hardly quality BBQ. The last time we ate Adams, not a single food item tasted good. The ribs in the cryopacks at the grocery store are better than Adams.

Great local restaurant, good food, good service in my experience (timely but not fussy or intrusive), casual atmosphere, reasonable prices. I love their cream of crab soup, loaded potato skins and Caesar salad. There is so much more here to like beyond ribs - usually a great "special" choice like meatloaf or pork chops. Seems like a lot of people have crazy-specific opinions about how ribs should be prepared and how the only way to evaluate them is by a particular attachment to the bone and flavor of the sauce and smoking procedure, so I'll leave all that debate to them. IMO the ribs are GREAT and I always get them if I'm ordering takeout - I just never seem to think to order them when I'm in the restaurant.

Adams has some really good points and some really bad ones. Pros: Food is usually well above average, the brisket sandwich, 1/4 chicken, ribs, and fish sandwich (when on special) are all very good. The service can be a little slow when they are busy but usually it is good. The atmosphere is very dated but still it has character. Carry out is a nice touch. Cons: The worst happy hour ever! Every restaurant from edgewater to annapolis does a better happy hour, they really need to step it up. The place smells about 25% of the time I go in, a mixture of old mop and bleach smell, if I smell it when I walk in I turn around and go elsewhere. The crowd seated at the bar is frequently the regulars and they are sometimes a bit dickish about you trying to slide in to get your drink from the bartender. They keep adding small kind of crappy TVs, they really need to put some money into a remodel of the bar and upgrade the A/V package.

Some of the best barbecue chicken I've eaten. Good place to watch a game and have a drink. Do Not order the onion appetizer, it's extremely greasy and tasteless. Good service earned the 4th star. I'll be back to try the ribs.

I frequent Adam's at the Mayo location from time to time over the last 4 years for the great wings. They have some pretty good ribs as well and good variety of soup and other food. The special part of this place is the local feel of the restaurant and the real wood smoking of the meats. Food is a 4 if you get the ribs otherwise 3 Atmosphere is a 3 with a local bar feel. Staff is a 3.5, they have always been nice but sometimes slow to refile

Go to place in Annapolis for barbecue. Ribs and pulled pork are great.

No matter what you get here, you need to start off with the famed "onion loaf", a delicious fried onion appetizer. Likely, a half loaf will be sufficient for a party of 2 or 3. The ribs are decent and the burgers are pretty good as well. Family friendly.

RIBS, RIBS! fall off the bone tender this landmark restaurant is dependable simply said their quality of their family recipes has stayed the test of time. i first enjoyed their BBQ when they first opened 25 years ago and today I can dine there knowing the quality and service will be the same. Bravo to the owner Bill!

We've only ever tried their takeout, but I'm a HUGE pulled pork fan and theirs is fantastic. The only thing is that they NEVER give you enough BBQ sauce, no matter how many times you ask for extra. Their potato salad is PHENOMENAL. Seriously, it might contain some sort of addictive substance because now I've moved to MA and I crave it ALL THE TIME. Every time I visit, I insist on getting their take out. The take out service is ok, they can be pretty slow to pay attention to you when you show up at the counter. Also... what self-respecting BBQ place doesn't have Cornbread? Honestly! Stingy BBQ sauce and so-so service aside, I can't get enough of their pulled pork and potato salad, and I'd KILL to have them airlift it to New England.

Wow. I love this location!! Everytime I visit my parents, I insist on getting take out. They are always are accurate and super friendly. I wish they would update the online menu. But wow, Tom actually read me the menu because the item I wanted was no longer available. Super service!

I've been spoiled by eating at the Rib House in Colorado... :-( I used to love Red Hot and Blue, and it's been a while since I've been to Famous Dave's, so I'll have to give that one a try, BUT...my boyfriend and I craving GOOD BBQ, and hearing good things from other people about Adams Ribs, we thought we'd give this place a try. FAR CRY from Kansas style BBQ, but then again, I guess we ARE in Annapolis...and as I said earlier, I've been to BBQ places in Kansas and in CO (RIB HOUSE!!!), and I guess I've been spoiled. First off, we called BOTH locations (Annapolis and Edgewater), asking if their salad dressings or their BBQ sauce had soy as an ingredient. If you've seen my prior postings, I have a soy allergy. Anyway, BOTH locations claimed to not have soy. Now, being I've been given incorrect information before, and almost died as a result (Thanks Claddagh's in Baltimore), I now double and triple check. So far, it seemed to be a winner. When I got there, I asked the waiter again, if the ingredients had soy in them, and I just wanted to be sure, so I wouldn't die up in their restaurant just trying to get some good BBQ! The waiter went back, and came back to inform me that YES, there was soy... :'(. Well, my boyfriend, who does not have any allergy, got the ribs. I got the Mediterranean Chicken with a side salad and green beans. It was just OK. Any place that serves their vegetables out of a can is not really my type of place. Not that I am a food snob, some of the best places to eat are hole in the walls! But canned vegetables...? Come on.... Now, my allergy is not the type where I'll die if I eat this type of food, just if I've exercised before or after (yes, I know, wierd). We had gone hiking that day, so I still have to be careful, but being I did not do high impact cardio, I took a bite. UGH. I was not missing out on anything. I mean, if you like basic bbq ribs, then I'm sure it will be fine. But if you are looking for some GOOD ribs, I cannot vote on this place. Their chicken was pretty tasty, and they did give me a good amount of it. Unfortunately, the canned veggies, will not have me going back....

The food was pretty good, but Charlie the server was awesome. Great crab cake - I usually hate them because they are too bread filled, but this one was mostly big lump crab! Fries were meh. Was too stuff for desert, but the menu looked promising. Would go back again if I was in the area.

Adam's seems to be the place we go to most often. Their ribs just fall of the bone, their cream of crab and Maryland crab soup is great, the barbeque shrimp are wonderful and they always have plenty of seating. And their Gator Wings and Onion Loaf!! OMG!! So good. The only reason why I didn't give them 5 stars is because of their Bloody Mary's. I keep ordering one here and then I remember "Oh yeah, I forgot their Bloody Mary's suck". This is my favorite drink to order out and theirs is terrible. Watered down tomato juice, all you taste is the liquor because of it. A half yellow lime stuck on the side, no Old Bay or Worcestershire Sauce added. I make a better one at home. Aside from the lack of a good drink the food is excellent.

I visited today for a late lunch and immediately ordered the loaded potato skins for an app. They were loaded all right with more bacon and cheese than I've ever seen. They were alright but I didn't go overboard since I came for the Ribs. The service was great with a very friendly waitress that answered all my questions and kept my ice tea refilled. I ordered the full rack of a Baby Back Ribs! The ribs arrived looking so good I had to take a pic for you ! They definitely satisfied as expected. The cole slaw was amazing and the fries cooked perfectly. Another great lunch... Doubt I'll need dinner this evening. I've tried their Eastport location as well... Also awesome.

We had heard great things about this place, so we went tonight. Less than impressive. Hot crab dip appetizer was OK, but there are other places in town that serve better. We both had ribs with side of coleslaw and baked beans (me) and corn on the cob ( my wife). Ribs were fine but the BBQ on them was rather tasteless. Corn on the cob was inedible. Soaked in a pot so it was water logged. Blueberry pie desert was straight out of the can and the crust had too much salt in it. Service was good. We probably won't be back because there are better places nearby.

Adam's Ribs just catered our 10th Anniversary party and it was fantastic! We had arranged for food for 45 adults which included ribs, chicken, cole slaw, beans and rolls. They were on time, did all the set up, served, cleaned and wrapped up all the leftovers (what little was left). The ribs and chicken were cooked perfectly and my kids loved the "5 Bean Baked Beans". The gentlemen that came (Mike?) was gracious and courteous. The whole party was a big hit and Adam's Ribs helped make the day stress free and fun! Thanks!

The ribs are good and so is the pulled pork...usually. Been there numerous times but have had a few instances where the food was awful and I won't go back for quite some time. If they were more conistent I could easily give a higher raiting.

Adams by far has the best ribs in town. There is no competition. They have it hands down. I used to go to this restaurant when I was a little girl and I go their with my own family now. I love the ribs and the salmon. My husband likes the pulled pork sandwich over the brisket. The service was a little slow the last time that we went, but I think that it was an isolated incident. We are usually really pleased with the place overall. I would check out Adams when you get a chance. I've only been to the one in Edgewater, but I'm sure that the other locations are just as good. They've been around forever so that must count for something.

It is very "hit or miss" when eating here. The service is usually painfully polite and sometimes the food is really good. It is rare to get both great service and great food at the same time. Sometimes the ribs are very chewy, as if they were just thrown on the grill and other times, they are very, very soft to the point of being overcooked. The chicken is usually overcooked and dry with the sauce painted on as it leaves the kitchen. It's just not consistent service or food quality.

The ribs were OK, the cole slaw was wonderful, baked potato was fair, the corn on the cob was out of this world. The pie was flavorless. I had the coconut and my partner had the pineapple, both bland. The reason for only two stars was we were freezing. It was August 2, 75 degrees outside, and totaly frigid inside. We were near a door and when the door opened it felt like an oven door was being opened and it was onlly 75 degrees outside. We were in the dining room not the meat locker. The servers need some refinement. One reminded me of Flo on Mel's diner complete with her gum chewing. Eweew. If I am really hungry and it is in the Winter when the air conditioning is off I will try it out again.

Adams is a great neighborhood spot. I would rename them... Adams the place for Chicken, because their bbq chicken is lip-smacking, finger licking goodness. Sides here are decent and, yes, so are the ribs. I'm a Kansas City BBQ boy and while this isn't Arthur Bryants or even Gates, when you're a long way from Kansas City, Adams will do in a pinch.

This place sucks, I hate bbq sauce and everything they offer without it is bland and tastless. Dont go there for any reason...

I'll take the heat for this review with pride as most locals I'd bet consider this place to be 4 or 5 stars. I'm not most locals and I'm repeatedly disappointed with this place to the point that I doubt I'll ever go back again no matter how desperate I am for ribs. Their name should be 'The WORST Place For Ribs'. Carry out service at this place is typically run by a bunch of teenagers and I've gotten home more than once to find out I got either someone else's order or my order done incorrectly. Service in the restaurant itself is good but once you see and hear what goes on in the kitchen (visible from the carry out area) you'll probably think twice about eating there at all. Sorry locals but this place only appeals to people that don't really know good BBQ (or cuisine for that matter). In Anne Arundel County we are HURTING for good BBQ as it is - this place and it's sister restaurants do nothing to help the cause. They only have baby back ribs which I'm not a big fan of anyway but they lack any smoke flavor at all and are always cooked inconsistently - sometimes very dry on the ends and other times falling apart (well cooked BBQ folks does not FALL off the bone - there should still be a little resistance and the ribs should be able to stay intact if cooked properly). Every piece of chicken I've had here was dry and then slathered with sauce which leads me to another rant - their sauce. One thing alot of people forget when reviewing local restaurants is that most of their staple fare (mayo, ketchup, seasonings, salad dressings etc) come from the same company (in this area's case a company called Sysco). I love hearing how some people say 'this place has a great ranch dressing'! It's the same bloody ranch that is being served across the street and in virtually every restaurant in town. I'm certain Adam's BBQ sauce isn't home-made and they buy it in bulk from Sysco - if it is their recipe it sucks. I've been through the hills of Central and West Texas where the mecca of good BBQ is - no one in management of this place has ever set foot in Texas I reckon...
