I came here for Father's Day, which I understand can get busy but my experience at Happy Harbor was ridiculous. The hostess told us it may take 30 minutes to get our food which we accepted. We ordered our meal and an appetizer. Everyone in my party really wanted to get a burger they had but the waitress informed us they ran out of two ingredients for the burger go clearly we didn't order it. 45 minutes later we still hadn't gotten our appetizer. After an hour the waitress came out with a dinky amount of crab dip and one loaf of bread for 6 people. They also only had four plates for us. IWe asked the waitress if our food would be out in the next 30 minutes after we had just waited an hour just for our appetizer. She said "maybe" quite unconvincingly, indicating it would probably take another hour just to get our meals, meaning we would be spending a total of almost three hours just to get a simple meal. In fact, after an hour and 15 minutes the kitchen hadn't even started preparing our food. While the crab dip was quite amazing, I wasn't about to spend any more of my day there and so we canceled our orders and left. They didn't give us any discount or anything free even though we waited forever. To be honest, the establishment should reconsider calling their restaurant "unhappy harbor".

Brunch this morning. I had the veggie omelet and grits. Very good. My cousin had ham and cheese omelet. Also said it was good. My aunt had eggs, bacon and toast. She was also pleased. The coffee was great as well. Sitting on the outside deck over the water made the meal even better. I hadn't been there in years! Nice morning.

Good place. Basic pub food. The ingredients are definitely first rate - four stars. My burger came out well underdone (I ordered medium rare) which was handily dealt with by the owner who was on-site. It took a while and frankly staff could have been more attentive. Still, Happy Harbor is what it purports to be - a locally focused bar and restaurant that serves good food based on good ingredients. Current ownership is about a year along. I saw absolutely no sign of the cleanliness issues posted earlier. We'll definitely be back and will try the evening service to see how that goes. I'm hovering on four stars. I think Happy Harbor has the potential under new ownership to become the Deale version of Davis Pub in Annapolis. That would be wonderful.

I am so disappointed. My boat is parked 5 minutes from here and I hoped for this to be my local hangout this summer. Well I am guessing not, the food is pretty awful and as we were here during March Madness, you would have thought they may have been able to figure out how to find the channel with an elite 8 game on. But after asking 3 times, nothing. On the positive side it seems a lot of locals come.to enjoy a beer and some comradre, so maybe we will come back for that.

Cold, greasy food served slowly. Onion rings cold, fries almost dripping grease, incredibly slow service, inattentive wait staff. Nice location on the water, but a restaurant needs more than that......

This restaurant is walking distance from Mermaniac Charted Sport Fish where we were went on a fishing day trip. We got the early bird special which included $5 burgers and drinks. The atmosphere was very cosy. The food was outstanding and the service was good. Great value!

I've eaten here four times in the past few weeks. On one level I love this place. The food is pretty good, the location is amazing, and I love the live music. But the service is terrible. Tonight I waited 20 minutes before someone waited on me and it was 32 minutes after I arrived that the waittress finally brought me a drink. The last 2 times I had to go find the waittress just to pay my bill because they disappear for so long. Great place in some ways but they either need to hire more wait staff or train the ones they have.

This was stop number 2 on a party bus tour through South County, Md. Don't ask my why South County, but I think it has a lot to do with the cheap booze. But the Happy Harbor would give our rather large party sustenance to delaying the inevitability of seeing double. We definitely gave a test to the venue as we scooped up seats and tables and extended our already large table. By the way our waitress may have looked tiny and meek, but she was a total pro, as she got everyone's orders right and kept slogging booze left and right, not to mention she also had the rather large party next to us, not sure why she was working 2 large tables but again, pro. I delved in to nice giant burger called Itchin' for Summer which had fresh jalapenos and pineapple on the burger. I asked for medium and that is what I got. The burgers always come with chips, but I subbed in some greasy fries, if I wasn't drinking, I may have an issue with that, but I really didn't care. I was introduced to what is apparently a Md waterfront tradition, Orange Crush. Now, I had no idea what it was, until I ordered it. I was advised to sip it as it is heavy duty sweet and laden with a LOT of alcohol. It was divine, took me back to my Orange Tang days and yes, I took my sweet time with my crush. Not sure this would have been the best place for a Crush, but gosh darn it, it really was tasty.

This place will never change. Even though the new owner was thought to bring Happy Harbor into a more-recent past, she bought a place with roots. Deale, however, has come a long way. The good news is: there are other, more classy choices. With better food and the patrons more 2015.

Went here on a Monday night. 25 cent oysters from 5 to 8 and $5 burgers all day. We were there for Happy Hour which goes until 7, so we went with 50 cent wings and a pound of mussels for $5. The wings were crispy and the mussels were good. Not a bad dinner for $10. People were eating the oysters by the dozen and they must have been good at the rate people were consuming them. The burgers looked like frozen fare so we passed on those. Bartenders weren't the friendliest but they seemed to cater to the regular customers and not the wayward sailors that ventured in. Nice deck on the back to watch the boats. Worth a stop if you are walking from the marinas off the river. Closest place within walking distance to Herrington Harbour North. If you go there with dive bar expectations, you won't be disappointed.

Went for a lunch with two kids, wife, and my in laws. Everyone enjoyed the meal. Definitely a dive, but has its charm. Would have been nice to have the indoor restroom not smell like a pit toilet. Food was good, not great, good. Cobb Salad, fish and chips, and ahi tuna sandwich were all good. Beer was cold, food was edible, location good, not alot of other options makes this one of the best I have been to in the area. I'd go again for sure.

Had a hankering for a crab cake Benedict. They don't have one, but you can get close. The crab cake was good. The poached eggs were perfect. The home fries were excellent. Country atmosphere. I forgot to ask if the bar was open for mimosas.

Dive bar only redeeming quality They must get their food from the local Walmart and microwave it. Had the "home made" pulled pork sandwich. It was dry like it was laying out in open air for an hour. Save yourself the time, drive to Walmart, buy some frozen food and make it yourself.

Let me start off with when I was drug into this place for the first time a few months ago I was not a happy camper. I grew up hearing terrible things about this place and the people who went there. Well let me tell you since it has been under new management it is amazing! I bring my 3 year old son here for breakfast after church on Sundays. The staff is super friendly and the food is awesome. The only thing I haven't likes is the cream chip beef because it has onions in it. On Mondays they have $5 burgers and a weekly specialty burger and the best raw oysters I've ever had for only 25 cents an oyster!! Don't write this place off b/c of its past, you'll be happy you gave this place a second chance! The bar is still a little "divey" but the restaurant half has a nice layout and a beautiful view of the water.

My wife and I come here often because it's a chill relaxing place to come. Drinks aren't expensive, food is good, and live music. We recommend it to everyone we know.

A little dive located on the water, bar on one side, restaurant on the other. Another place needing a renovation. I had the seafood platter, steamed shrimp, clams, mussels...portions were slim. Think I had 4 shrimp, few muscles and clams. I had to hit McDonald's to fill me up.

Happy Harbor is a great neighborhood bar with plenty of locals. The atmosphere is great and in the summer with the back deck and outside bar open you have a fantastic view of the river. The food is hit or miss though, I've had the same thing cooked great one day and terrible another. I still go back mostly for the atmosphere and drinks, however it's a great place to meet up and hang out on a Saturday night when you don't want to go to the city.

So this place only gets three stars because it's on the water and I happen to love dive bars. The bar smelled like poo. Yes, poo. I don't know why I thought I should eat here after that, but I did. I didn't get sick and the food was ok. I'd say good place to drink on the water, but skip the food. Bartender was friendly and she let me play Keno. Would give a half star for that if I could. Keno is fun.

Went to $5 burger night. Burger was a pre-formed meh. Roll and toppings were ok. I asked the waitress what craft beers they had. Not sure she knew what craft beer is. Sam Adams Shandy was as close as I could get. The service was very good. The dock bar is a nice atmosphere.

In Defense of Happy Harbor, I have to say they do a really good breakfast on weekends. Sometimes lunch is great. But you don't go for the food. You go there for the DRAMA of South County. Always someone breaking up and crying, men parading around in their baseball hats and new vulgar t-shirts stretched over round beer bellies. AND this is where the fishing boats dock if you are going on a charter. Historically a place of racial slurs, motorcycles and dirty bathrooms, if you want to go fishing and like to talk about boats and fishing, you're at the right place.

Had breakfast here this morning. Food was good, service was good and you can eat on the porch overlooking the water. Not sure it would be my choice for fine dining in the evening, but to get the day started it was fine

I do not mind a bar tender training and I can understand mistakes. However, taking three dollars for a 2.50 beer on a Saturday and not bring back the .50 is a shame especically when you saw her put it in the tip charge. This a another newbie and not Sus the regular person. If this is how they run a business than it is off to Skippers. At least the wait staff does not try to rip you off.
