The two main things I look at when reviewing a restaurant is how clean the place is and the service, because the taste of food is subjective. So, I would say that this place appears to be very clean, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. I have been here about 3 or 4 times and each time, I can confidently say that I have been made to feel like it is a privilege for me to be served by this establishment. My husband digs on the beer selection at this place and drags me along for the ride. I have had a number of different dishes and I have enjoyed everything (a bit overpriced IMO...especially the beer), but I can't get over the customer service. I will say that a couple of times we were helped by a man behind the bar that I assume is the owner or manager and he has provided great service, but everyone else from the hostess to the servers to the other bartenders need a lesson in how to appear less annoyed with their jobs. If I had not experienced such poor behavior on each visit by one of these people, I would chalk it up to an "off" day, but every visit is unacceptable. These experiences were unfriendly and bordering on rude. I think this place does well because of it's location, food and beer selection, but I cannot be the only patron that has experienced the same lack of good customer service, can I?

Great beer selection, amazing food, no tourists, outdoor deck, private parking lot, good bar, decent service, ... what more do you want in a restaurant. I wouldn't come here looking to watch sports at the bar though. The bar is a nice little small bar with two small tvs, but not really much for watching sports. I have had a number of food items here, and they were all amazing, just make sure they don't overcook your meat. I have always had it cooked perfectly, but other people at my table have not always had their steaks cooked to order. They have an excellent beer selection including a number of great microbrews, though they are a slight bit more expensive than in my opinion they should be. Off the brunch menu I recommend the steak and eggs: get the steak medium rare and the eggs over easy. Off the appetizer menu grab the crab meat, shrimp, cheese, tomatoes, and sour cream on top of chips. It will blow you away. Easily one of my top 5 appetizers of all time, though I would ask for some extra old bay on the side. I tend to drink a lot of water, so some times you have to flag down the waiter to keep your water glass full. One item of caution is that they don't split checks, but most waiters/waitresses will bill it to multiple credit cards.

I really want to love this place. I've always found the service to be good and the restaurant to be clean and inviting. I really like the new renovated space up front. They could really use more parking though. The beer selection is great for this area. Get there for the happy hour special or prepare to really empty your pockets. My main gripe is the food. They attempt to do a lot and I appreciate that they try to make everything from scratch but my guests and I have often found the spices and flavors *very* heavy - especially anything blackened (steak tacos, roast beef sandwich, southwest mac and cheese, rockfish panini). On the other side, many of the flavors are very bland (fish tacos, sesame seared salmon, crab cakes). The items to hit are the jalapeno corn crab chowder, sushi burger and Chesapeake chachos. Everything else will make you a little sad. They are so close to being good - they just need to dial it in.

Great food. Great atmosphere. They even play '90s punk/ ska/ hardcore... What more can you ask for?!? Definitely a keeper.
(4)Anonymous D.
Local favorite. Great cream-of-crab soup, lots of inventive mixed drinks, and tons of different beers. They always have a few higher-end entrees, too-- not just bar food, although they have good bar food, too, if that's what you're looking for. Nice outdoor seating area. However, the (newly expanded) parking lot can still be completely full (see what I mean about local favorite?), so they are a bit of a victim of their own success. They are still on my list of regular go-to places, though. A solid choice. My only complaint is the dessert selection: I know they serve Smith Island cake, and not much else. Blughh. That cake is so dry and awful. Please, Lures, get some better desserts.
(4)Dick C.
Great atmosphere, excellent food. Wide and varied menu from entrees to sanwiches. Ruben was excellent, cream of crab soup had large, tasty lump crab. Southwest mac and cheese was a great interpretation of an old standby. One caution.....this is a local Maryland restaurant that uses Old Bay seasoning ALOT. If you are not a fan, check when ordering. (E.g., I love old bay, but it overwhelmed the delicate flavor of the crab soup.)

Great atmosphere. The crab soup the best, service good , will be back !

Had heard about Lures but had never been there. Parking is tight- but we got there early (5:30pm) and everything was fine. When we left at 6:30- there were cars ready to take our spot (they do have parking attendants). Choice of beers outstanding. Happy hour 5-7 M-F. Draft beers half price (including ciders). We had tuna appetizer. Very good. My Filet mignon salad with warm bacon vinegreitte dressing was OUTSTANDING. My daughter had a pasta/shrimp dish and my husband had salmon. All were VERY good. Service was attentive but not annoying. If you get there early- it will be great. Wouldn't want to have to wait for a praking spot though.

We sat at the bar (pre renovation) and enjoyed a relaxing night out. The bartender was busy on a random weeknight out. The draft beer selection made my husband more than happy. We started with some very disappointing nachos. Skip these! The sweet potato fries were perfect and I devoured them. We both ordered bison burgers, which were good but not better than Abby burger bistro. It was a great place to watch the game and hang out. I'm looking forward to going back to enjoy the patio and see the bar renovation.

Service started out good, but then our server stopped checking on us. We sat around with empty glasses waiting for our server so we could order another round during happy hour. Our server came back after happy hour ended, so we just asked for our check. Then our server never came back to take our check, we had to go to the bar to pay. Food was good, but service was terrible.
(1)Kristina M.
Wonderful dinner- highly recommend this place. Mussel app was great. Would rather the bread it came with did not have cheese but overall wonderful. Rockfish dinner and the ahi tuna burger were amazing. If I ever crave a burger- I'm coming here! Enjoy!

Went yesterday with my family and had a great time. Beer was good. Food was great. Can't wait to go back. I couldn't believe gratuity was automatically added with six of us there.

(08/06/2013) Stopped in just for drinks, very accommodating, nice selection of wine and beer on tap. Great outdoor patio strung with festive lights. Reasonable prices.

I have been to Lures many times and I think their food is great. I also love their draft craft beer selection. They also have some interesting special mixed drinks that are also quite good. The main dining room can get a bit loud. People's voices just bounce off the ceiling, walls, and floor and it can be a mild annoyance and it also depends upon when you go. We happened to be their once when an engagement party was taking place and it was loud. They opened up a second dining room (actually in the main bar area) and they also have outside dining. Their food selection is quite varied but they always have some seafood, beef, chicken, pork, pasta entrees plus several salads. Some of their dishes may have an Asian influence but by and large their menu is quite varied and it changes from time to time. Please bring back the Barramundi. They also have some great appetizers. Their nachos are quite delicious and we get them almost every time we visit. Their desserts are okay. I suspect they buy them from another party. So I would not go there for dessert. The appetizers, entrees, and drinks are what this place excels at. The only downside is that their location does not have a lot of parking. They did expand their parking from what it was originally but it is still a bit tight. One thing that really kills the parking situation is if you get a group of people going to happy hour together and they all drive separately (of course who wouldn't) and they can really eat up the parking spaces even though the dining area may have plenty of open tables. On at least one occasion we could not get in because of parking. I am not sure what else they could do about the parking. They are hemmed in by other private property and I don't know if they could expand it further. This is one of my favorite restaurants and I would recommend it to anyone. I really love their commitment to bringing in different draft craft beers. They do have daily food and drink specials too.
(4)Steve C.
This place has decent food, would not consider great. The servers are hit and miss as far as quality. The parking is really tight. But I think the noise level has to be the biggest drawback . We usually try to go when it's not real busy.
(3)Kathea S.
We've been several times but Friday night was the first time I managed to make reservations and didn't have to wait. Must get the Jalapeno Rangoons. So awesome. Black and Blue Tacos were amazing. Other menu items are also good. Great beer selection. Very much a locals place.
(4)Marianne D.
Service was soooooo slow. Took forever to get our food (2 of the 3 entrees were salads). Every table on the patio had to ask for silverware. Seems they need to train their serves better. The fish on the salad was over cooked. The sliders were cold. The salted caramel cake was Spectacular!!
(2)Scott M.
So I made it in before the rush just to see if the food would taste as good as during peak hours. To no surprise it was just as fresh and tasty. The jalapeño corn crab soup was to die for. Not spicy at all but lots of crab meat with mad flavor. The sandwich was a chicken BLT, very tasty with an order of fries. Very nice calm atmosphere that would be good for families.
(3)Alicia C.
The jalapeño corn crab soup is awesome. My bf said it was the best Ruben he has ever had. The craft beers are yummy and the happy hour $4.00 pints is very nice. The waitress was attentive and knew both the menu and the beer selections. We will be back!
(4)Marybeth D.
We love Lures! We have been many times and always have great food and service. Love the cranberry almond chicken salad
(4)Tim Z.
This is a decent place. I have eaten here several times. Good burgers, nice beer selection. Often eclectic menu coices. Never had a bad meal here.

I can't believe I'm even writing a yelp review because I usually make fun of people complaining on here, but here goes. I am a lover of Lures and have been coming here for years, and now that I live in Crownsville, I venture there for beers and food quite often. Tonight, my boyfriend and I walked in right after another family and were graciously sat by the hostess. We weren't in a major hurry but we sat there waiting for about 10-15 minutes and not one person (out of the three servers I saw) came over to take out drink order or anything. As server/bartender for 10 years myself, this is one of my BIGGEST pet peeves. You always greet the table within a minute of them sitting down, unless you are slammed and in the weeds. WE WERE THE ONLY TWO TABLES in the restaurant. The hostess noticed that neither one of the tables had been greeted and then told the servers again that we were waiting. They made eye contact with us and then continued to go back to their seemingly very important conversation. Even if the hostess had not told them at first, it was clear she told them we had been waiting for some time. If it were me, I would have gone immediately over to the table and that point, apologized and continued service, but this was not the case. After another minute or two we apologized to the hostess, who was clearly embarrassed about the situation, and left. I am extremely disappointed in this situation and I hope it never happens again because I speak very highly of this establishment! Service today, however, epic fail.

Just tried this place for the first time, great food! We had the sushi burger and blackened rockfish panini, both we're great. I added the sweet potato fries, the best!

Great atmosphere, great food, friendly servers! This is my favorite place to relax after a long week. I really can't say enough about this place

I went out to dinner with friends and caught the tail end of happy hour. They've got some good deals (half-price beers) and interesting small plates on the happy hour menu, so we were glad to get in on that action. However, my overall impression of Lures was that it's alright but not amazing. They were pretty busy, but that doesn't excuse the ridiculously long time it took to get orders taken... and the even longer time for food to arrive. Our whole meal took about two hours, and most of that time was spent sitting around without food. Our food arrived at varying times, so we all sort of ate in shifts. The waitstaff was hard to catch, so water glasses stayed empty for a while and we didn't have as much beer as we probably would've if someone had come by regularly to ask if we wanted another round. (And this was after happy hour ended, so those would've been full price beers!) The food itself was varied. The crab dip was alright, but nothing special. The pierogies were quite good. The jalapeño crab rangoons were mediocre and not really spicy. The jalapeño corn crab chowder was tasty, but I found a lot of bits of shell in the soup and the peppers didn't add a kick in this dish, either. And the cuban sandwich sliders were full of semi-dry pulled pork - no resemblance to anything you'd call a "cuban sandwich" in south Florida. I probably wouldn't go back unless our friends want to meet there again - they seem to like it quite a bit. It does seem to be a fairly friendly place for a family with a toddler, which isn't something I look for in a restaurant!
(3)Katie M.
Still loving Lures - it never disappoints! Came for Stone pint night with two special limited drafts by Stone on tap. The crab dip and beer choices were excellent!! And try the new salted caramel crunch cake... you won't be disappointed!
(5)Dennis L.
Never dull, always trying new combinations, refreshing ingredients and a great beer selection for the beer drinker that can appreciate a good tap beer.
(5)Caroline M.
2.5 stars. This review is after I finally got in- it's always packed. Why ? Yes, the beer selection is decent. The food definitely wasn't. The jalapeño chowder was okay. The shrimp and grits were disappointing after having them recommended from the server. Get them at Reynolds tavern- they're incredible there. An overall mediocre experience. I know the foods not good when my husband says my cooking is better.
(2)Chelsea S.
I have been using Yelp for years now, and this is my first review! I love this place so much I felt compelled to finally write my first review. I randomly passed this place driving down Generals Hwy and decided to give it a try with my husband. I am so glad we did! Everything is delicious! They have great nightly food and beer specials and a wonderful variety on the main menu. The black and bleu tacos are awesome, and i've had a fish taco on special recently. Outstanding! My husband and I also enjoy the expansive beer menu. For a small bar, they have a great beer and drink menu. It is difficult to find a place with great food AND drinks. We have sat outside on the deck both times we have been, and it's very nice. We usually go early because of our little boy, but I could see the place definitely getting more crowded after 7 PM. Stop reading and go check out Lure's!

After a day of sailing on the Chesapeake, we were incredibly hungry. As usual with a million things going on in downtown Annapolis we decided to drive out a bit and find food on the road as we headed back to DC. Thanks to Yelp we were able to find Lures and boy are we glad we did. We arrived between the lunch and dinner rushes, so we had no problem finding parking or getting a table. The service was incredibly prompt too. The perogies for our appetizer were crunchy without being dried out or greasy and were very homemade tasting. My meal was also delicious and filling, I had the tuna. My only complaint would be that the tuna was a little overcooked for my preferences, but still very good. For dessert we shared a piece of Strawberry Smith Island cake. It was incredibly moist and was the best thing to grace my tastebuds in ages!
(4)Graham T.
Lures is a nice, locals hangout with a very good menu and lots of natural light - makes the place feel bigger than it is. Food is well put together - and tasty. Prices are a bit higher than they should be - but worth it on some items (turkey sandwich, sweet potato fries, etc). I will try and get here more often to try the other menu items that sound desirable.
(4)William S.
Simply put, my favorite local restaurant. Consistently delicious food, amazing rotating draft selection and nice wine list combined with wonderful friendly service. The jalapeño crab corn chowder is always fantastic as are most of the entrees on the specials menu. The outdoor seating area is great on a not so hot evening. Best part are the half priced drafts during happy hour. Can't recommend this place enough!
(5)Amy K.
I've never had a bad meal at Lures and anyone who is with me for the fist time loves it there. The parking lot is crazy and you should be prepared to wait if you don't have a reservation but the food and drinks are worth it. Love the Chesapeake Chachos & blackened rockfish sandwich! The waitstaff has always been knowledgeable when it comes to the beers so if the menu is overwhelming, just tell them some beers you like to normally drink and they'll find you something similar.

The food was awesome!!!! My husband and I were looking for a good seafood restaurant in the Crofton area. Blue Dolphin and Bone Fish had an hour wait.... Even after giving up the movie we wanted to see was sold out. The night was looking bleak. I used my faithful Yelp :-). (PS On-Star led us to a crab shack take out when we had requested a seafood restaurant in the area...buyer beware. LoL) Yelp...landed us here. OMG. The staff is super friendly, there was no wait and the food...delicious. We tried the Rockfish bites and Guac for starters, yummy! The food is fresh, not fishy. The corn pudding, crab cakes, scallops, sweet potato fries... All yummy.... Thanks to my Yelp family -- the night was saved.
(5)Diane D.
I've been to Lures several times and have never been disappointed. Five of us went for lunch today and enjoyed an array of foods. I had their chicken salad sliders and sweet potato fries and they were awesome! The mayo wasn't too heavy and the amount of chicken on the sliders was perfect. My buddies all had salads and they were of ample portions and the lettuce was fresh and each one raved. Pricing isn't bad, the service was great, ambiance is wonderful (if you can enjoy time on their deck on a cooler day)! I've had a few of their adult beverages and they don't disappoint (although their yummy coconut rum drink doesn't appear on the menu until August which I find silly)! Enjoy it, you won't be disappointed!
(4)Brook B.
The food is above average and the service is good. The beers are a little pricey but nothing outrageous. A couple of highlights: Crab Nachos - I split these with friends and they were so good that we had to order another plate and then skip the meal. Best Turkey Sandwich Ever - it may not be the best one ever, but i cant remember a better one. The coconut water cocktail - One of the best cocktails I have ever had. this is also perfect for simultaneously killing a hangover while getting drunk all over again.
(4)Denby F.
Amazing! Best hidden gem in the area! Definitely make reservations before you go (even on a weeknight). They don't allow reservations for the outside patio. The signature cocktails were delicious, especially the coconut water cocktail! Started with the jalapeño bites based upon the reviews. They were good buy not quite as good as expected. The rest of the meal made up for it. The black and blue tacos were unique and amazing. Cannot wait Togo back!
(5)H B.
Good beer selection. Good entrees and appetizers. Very good service.
(4)Denise R.
My friend and i came upon Lures by accident on our way from Baltimore to Annapolis. We happened to slow for the stoplight and there it was. What a find. Atmosphere, was relaxed and calm, staff friendly, food excellent. We had a late lunch, were seated quickly, the service was attentive. The crab soup and chicken cranberry salad were enough to share for 2 leaving room for dessert. Good draft beer selection Loved the ladies restroom decoration We will be back.
(4)Lewis C.
Not sure I understand why this place gets some of its great reviews. Food tasted like whatever fell off the back of the sysco truck. Service was poor. This place has the tell-tale sign of an establishment that's a bar first, restaurant second - sticky tables.
(2)J R.
The place has good food, that isn't their problem; these are there problems - Minimal Parking - A good concept with a draft beer selection, but their beer guy is a hop head. If you don't like bitter hoppy IPAs or imperials with 10+% alcohol you will have a hard time finding a draft - High draft prices, $8 a pint is probably as high as you'll find anywhere in the Annapolis region We went on a Friday at 5pm for happy hour, expected it to be crowded like anywhere else, but the lot was full and they had 6 cars lined up, you wait for somebody to leave and then you can park. We let all but the driver go in to try and find a spot and start enjoying happy hour. Once inside there were probably 4 tables open including one in the bar area (usually first come first serve at most places) but they told our group and another group waiting that those tables were reserved and you can't sit there. So let me get this straight you have 4 tables sitting open that you are holding for reservations, and nobody outside in the car line is going to be able to park until other cars leave??? Those people with reservations will never find parking. We left, took our business to a bigger more accommodating venue. Can't say I'll be back at Lures. And once the Frisco Taphouse and their 110 draft lines opens at the nearby Waugh Chapel center I'm sure other beer fans will also abandon Lures for a place with more room, more parking and a heck of a draft list. I guess that will free up some parking at Lures.
(2)Hill B.
We went for a birthday outing on a Friday night and were lucky enough to make a reservation, as someone ha cancelled. The service was great. The waitress' recommendations were fantastic. The place was pretty loud, but we were okay with it because so were our kids. :) We ordered the tuna tartar for an appetizer-- great and fresh! The kids split the dinner portion chicken mac & cheese, which was very tasty. I had the crabcakes--- very yummy, and my husband had the rockfish-- also a great choice. One thing that I especially liked was that they were VERY light on the salt. That's great for those watching their sodium intake. Great place and experience overall!

I like Lures for two reasons. They frequently update their draft beer selection, and they have outdoor seating. In terms of food, I haven't had much I don't like, it's just that the menu isn't exciting for me. Nearly all the food is average and edible. The burgers are pretty good, but a lot of food. Sweet Potato Fries are yummy too. My favorite item is the Jalapeno Corn and Crab Chowder, but they need to serve it hot, and it's usually luke warm. I'm fairly certain the pierogies are pre-made, but I'm not complaining. They are a satisfying starter. Mussels are good. Tuna sandwich is just fine. Caesar Salad with Shrimp is always a nice option. Rockfish Bites have been dry and the Crabcake Sandwich isn't worth it, which is disappointing for an Annapolis Restaurant. I think their entrees are overpriced at $13-30. None of the sides are memorable. Love the beers and beer events. The paddle pour of 4 5oz draft offerings for $5 is an awesome deal. I always take the opportunity to try as much as I can. Servers are hit or miss. This placed gets PACKED at dinner time and on nice evenings because of its location, but that doesn't seem to effect service. Some staff is friendly and helpful and fast, others are not. Parking is a PAIN. Make reservations and carpool. Overall Lures is a nice place to eat, can be cozy and intimate if it isn't packed, and has good beer. I eat here frequently. It's hands and feet above most of the other restaurants in the Annapolis area. If you haven't tried it, its worth a visit.

Lures is OK, not great. I found Lures the week it opened and have been back probably 9-10 times. That being said, Lures falls in line with the mediocre, but acceptable, dinning selections that Annapolis has become known for. We more or less go to have lunch, get outside of the madness of Annapolis, and finally it's not a chain/locally owned. Like I said we go for lunch as it has gradually gotten more and more crowded for dinner. Not a place worth a 30-40 min wait to be seated. The beer selection is excellent (IPA heaven) and changes almost weekly. Samples are usually free to try something different before committing. They also have a 4 glass sampler to mix up if feeling indecisive. Wait staff is mixed on their knowledge of what they are offering, but the owner you can tell Loves Beer and IPA especially. Pretty safe trusting that the beers are of quality Menu selection is not huge but fresh and unique (perogies on the menu, how many places have that!). One of those places where I find myself ordering the same thing every trip. Soup is ok, but often needs to be warmer. Salads, sandwiches, entrees have all been decent, nothing to blow your mind. Service has always been consistently decent. A few negatives. Every time we have been there are always a lot of flies buzzing around, which drives me nuts and is gross. Second, not their fault, but parking is very tight and it doesn't help that most people are complete idiots when trying to figure it out. We will continue to go back, but when people ask for a place that is a must visit in Annapolis, this is not on that very small list.
(3)Karen S.
Annapolis, you deserve better. I've eaten here three times, so I think I've given Lures a fair shake. Try #1: Rockfish bites were okay. Crabcake sandwich was full of shells. When I mentioned this to the server, she was defensive, not apologetic. I grew up in MD - I know it's hard to pick all the shells out. But it's inexcusable for your crabcake to crunch with every bite - and I'm not talking about the crispy fried coating. Try #2: Our wedding rehearsal dinner. For reasons that any married couple can appreciate, we succumbed to parental wishes and held the event there. We were 10 min late for our reservation and the appetizers - which included RAW tuna - were already waiting on the tables for us. Rockfish bites were tepid and soggy. I think the tuna was untouched. What I remember the most from that night - besides my fantastic family and friends - was the surly waitress. When I asked about the apps sitting out, she ROLLED HER EYES at me and said that we were late. Try #3: A family birthday dinner. I forgot Try #1 and ordered the crabcake sandwich. Crunch, crunch, crunch. The only thing Lures has going for it is a good beer selection and a pretty interior.

WARNING - LONG After having passed by this place on a weekly basis for the past year, I decided on a whim to stop in on our way home from a long day in OC. It was a Thursday evening around 7 o'clock. The parking lot was a disaster! We parked around the corner and inside we found a similar situation. Packed, which, according to Grandma, is a good thing. We did not have reservations but were not asked and were not made to feel silly about not having made those arrangements. Having spent nearly every penny we had in OC, we found ourselves in the embarrassing position of having to ask if this was a cash-only establishment and to our delight, and the confusion of the hostess for us having to ask, we and our credit cards, were warmly welcomed. We were told the wait would be about 10 minutes but it was really only about 2. I have never read a review of this place before and went out of sheer curiosity about a place off the beaten path (though very accessible) that is packed from open to close. After having read through most of the reviews here and other sites, I have to say that I can appreciate some of the negative reviews, but they are all wrong. I can see where some would find Lures rather pricey. But not for the freshness and quality of the food. They offer a nice selection of what I would call something-for-everyone comfort food. From Thai Style Salmon Panang to Chorizo Rice Bowls, Perogies sauteed in butter to Fish Tacos, Bison Burgers to Sushi Burgers to vegetarian offerings, every craving can be satisfied. And everything we ordered was delicious in a way that made us feel like if we could cook this at home, this is exactly how we would do it, and do it often. My party and I felt that the prices were fair and a good value, especially when put up against other eateries in the area. The atmosphere is welcoming, casual, and has an appropriately fishy flair. The high ceilings create a sense of spaciousness in the otherwise cozy, homey surroundings. There is also outdoor seating which looked really inviting, as if we were hanging out in our favorite neighbor's backyard on one of those perfect summer evenings where the critters and creatures are noticeably absent and the sky shimmers and a breeze gently caresses, carrying the scent of approaching autumn. Alas, the patio was full but we will try that on another day. The staff could not have been nicer. I did not feel rushed. I can see where some may mistake that for slow service, and to them I would say if you want fast food, go right up the road about 2 or 3 miles and across from the Westfield Mall, you will find a McD's. Our server was attentive and when we explained it was our first visit to Lures she smiled a knowing smile and said "Please take your time. If you have any questions, please let me know", and she meant it. She carefully observed our actions and when we put down our menus, she promptly popped over and asked if we had questions, were we ready to order or did we need more time, etc, and proceeded to take our order asking if there was anything we wanted left off, etc. As I said before, the place was packed but we still had our beverages filled promptly, our starters were brought out within a reasonable amount of time, i.e., we had time to finish one drink and then apps arrived. To my astonishment, our entrees were not brought out, as seems to be the trend of late, within moments of the apps being delivered. We had time to enjoy the yummy Tuna Tartar and wash it down with another drink before the entrees arrived. Now for the less than perfect part, hence 4 stars. Somewhere along the line, my order was mixed up. The kitchen staff apologized and quickly began making this right. My server came by and was concerned about the fact that she did not see my entree and asked if there was something wrong with it, i.e. did I return it. I advised the situation, she acknowledged the mistake and again apologized. She went directly to the kitchen, which I could peer into from my table, and asked if this was being handled. I did not wait more than 5 minutes and my food was delivered hot and delicious. It was worth waiting for and I told her so. And we did get a comped desert for the "less than perfect service", which was sublime. Salted caramel cake. Too good for words! Did I mention the bar? There is a reason Bar comes before Grille. This is first and foremost about the Beer. The food is unquestionably delicious, but the patrons come for the drinks, which are on the expensive side (keeps the swill drinking masses out). But there they all are, drinking and laughing over the extensive selection of draft and bottled brew, specialty cocktails and wine (offered by the bottle or glass). Lures is a place to be enjoyed with friends and family. And if you comfort zone keeps you in the shallow end of the social pool, Lures will lure you into waters where you will find new friends and feel like family.

You know how when you see a really hot chick with a physically substandard, greasy haired, computer geek and you think to yourself that the guy either has a ton of money or he's a preternatural lover, or both, because there's no way he's getting this girl otherwise? That's how I feel about this place and the 4 and 5 star reviews. Something's up here that I can never hope to reconcile. I mean, I hate to question the thinking of my brothers and sisters in Yelp, but what are you people thinking?!? Our experience here was a HUGE disappointment, and frankly, I was embarrassed to have made this recommendation to my dining guests. The experience went south the instant we hit the parking lot. If you want to experience sketchy parking, go here. Add to that the fact that we were one of three parties in the place (it was a little before prime time), and it took 15 minutes to get our drink order-there is a great beer selection available here, so maybe go for a drink. I ordered the blackened tuna entree, and I received the blackened tuna sandwich. I didn't want to wait for the correct order, while my guests ate, so I went with the sandwich. What a mistake!!!! It wasn't rare, as promised, nor was it blackened. It was sushi raw, and it was meagerly sprinkled with blackened seasoning after it was placed on the bun. The sweet potato fries were cold-in fact everything we ordered was cold, from the cream of crab soup, to the tuna, to the fries-and they were overcooked. The tilapia salad that two of my guests ordered was, according to them, nearly inedible. Soggy, bodiless tilapia and soggy, bodiless greens. Is that anyway to go through life? We decided to try the Smith Island Cake (the Maryland State dessert I'll have you know), and it fell in line with most of the other fare, i.e. average at best. In summary: bad food, bad service, good beer. That is all.

Well, my dad and I stopped in here after my one-day follow-up from Lasik surgery. I wanted to buy him lunch to thank him for schlepping me around so the wife & boys didn't have to sit in a waiting room for a couple of hours. He innocently suggested we go to Lures, as it was on the way home. Two Kobe burgers later, I saw through his clever ruse. He maliciously took advantage of my uneven, inflamed ocular state to get me to ingest a monstrous hunk of Wagyu beef, covered in grilled onions, mushrooms, and Havarti cheese. The cheek of some people! I can honestly say I've never had a "finger lickin' good" burger before this. The beef is so juicy that they really should serve it with a small side of bread, because you don't want to let one drop of that stuff get away from you. Advanced diners will distribute the fries evenly around the plate to soak up the drippins. Definitely want to come back here for dinner. But if you have a jonesin' for a $20 hamburger that may actually be worth $20, head on over to Lures.

This place was such a pleasant surprise, I am very happy to give it 5 stars. The hubby and I came here for a casual anniversary dinner after reading the yelp reviews. It is very colorful and relaxed inside, and there was live music outside on the patio. The wait for a table at 8pm on a Friday was only about 10 minutes, but I think we timed it just right. There is a nice mix of customers, and everyone appeared to be enjoying the vibe. We started with beers that were excellent and our server offered great recommendations. Fried rockfish bites were very tasty as a starter and we loved the spicy plum sauce for dipping. For entrees, I chose the New York strip and shrimp and ordered the steak medium well/well. Every chef hates me for this, and I was so pleasantly surprised that it was still very juicy and tender. One of the best I've had. Hubby had the Mahi Mahi and it was very flavorful. For dessert we should have gotten the Smith Island cake, but chose a fried banana chimichanga type thing that would have been better with ice cream. Overall, it was a really fun and relaxing evening and we will return soon with the hopes that it doesn't get discovered by too many from Annapolis.

I really like Lures. Fantastic beer selection with usual offerings and a rotation of new. Drafts are half price at happy hour, which is a great deal considering the caliber of beer served. The two crab soups are delicious, but I do agree with other reviewers - needs to be a little warmer. Entrees are good as are the burgers and sandwiches. We're locals and visit three to four times per month because it's away from the tourist traps in Annapolis, isn't a chain, and is really the best place around.

My parents took me here last night for some nice drinks and dinner. From the outside, this place looks romantic and upscale. Inside, its louder than hell. Every single person is practically yelling over top each other to carry on a conversation. There are two TV's at the bar most people are lingering by which is the loudest. It had rained earlier, and I wanted to sit outside to escape the noise but no one bothered to clean the soaked furniture for dinner. When we were finally seated inside, our waitress had the worst attitude. I don't know if it was a busy Friday night or what, but it was pretty uncomfortable to be treated like it was our fault for going out to dinner. We ordered the rockfish bites, cream of crab soup, and tuna tare-tare for apps, which were hot and delicious..which we thought made up for everything. Wrong. My Dad's entree was over-seasoned and had the sauce on top (not on the side), my Mom's tuna was overcooked, and I got the wrong order. When I received a regular burger instead of slider burgers, the waitress stomped over and interrogated me about whether or not I had specified "sliders" when I ordered (it really wasn't a big deal..) She then took my meal back to the kitchen and returned with my burger patty cut up into three pieces in three separate hamburger slider buns. Seriously? The waitress then came back in a remorseful mood and offered us a free dessert for the mix-up's, but the dessert never came. Later we noticed one of the glasses of wine was removed from the bill but it was still weird about the dessert. Really disappointing experience, I gave it two stars for the great appetizers. If I want to go to an extremely noisy bar for bad service, I can pay way less for it somewhere else.
(2)M L.
great starters, there cream of crab soup is the best I have ever had. Thier beer is great, new ones everytime. Thier reservations are kind of messed up, but other then that, I love the place, just go early so you do not have to wait for a table.

I'm careful giving out 5 stars, but this one is worth it. The food is phenomenal. You can tell the ingredients are top notch and the cook does a great job. There is a good selection, but its not overwhelming, and judging from my meal, my girlfriend's meal and other posts, it seems like you cant go wrong. The beers are great as well. They generally serve darker IPAs and Double IPAs, which is great. They only had one stout, but it was fantastic. I overheard the waitress saying they change the beer menu up periodically to get a flavor of different microbreweries which is really cool. The bartender was even entertaining some of the dinner guests by explaining some of the beers which was unique. The atmosphere is great too. Its tucked away, far from the Annapolis tourists, and surrounded by trees. They have an outdoor patio which is pretty serene as well. Service matched the food quality: Excellent. In summary, this is one of the few Annapolis area restaurants that has it all.

Lures (which I pronounce terribly, apparently) is situated about 15 minutes outside of Annapolis. I believe its worth the drive. I went for dinner and found the last parking spot in a lot packed to the limit and cratered in sections as if there had been some aerial bombing by the Axis powers. Wait for a table was about 10 minutes, enough time to scope out the really good selection of beer behind the bar. It leans towards the IPA and hoppy choices which is perfectly fine with me. I had the tuna sandwich - rare and good - with a side of chips lightly peppered with Old Bay seasoning. I shared a beer sampler with my date and three out of four were great picks. She ended up taking home a slice of oreo cake that might've been a hundred layers tall. It was very delicious and capped off the experience.

This place is a little gem in Crownsville. Tons of great beer on tap, a nice little out door patio, creative drinks and a pretty solid menu. The serving staff can be a little scattered, especially if it is busy, and it is a little pricey, but over all the experience is worth a visit. Oh and just a side note - parking is pretty tight there, so try to get there early if you are having dinner or trying to enjoy happy hour.
(4)D C.
First time at Lures. Great filet sandwich and beer selection. Cool place, too.
(5)David K.
Lures is a bar first and a restaurant second but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Some of the patrons are annoying but the beer selection is good enough to make it worth coming here. The food is actually not bad. Its not blow your mind great but its better than your average bar food. Service was fine. We enjoyed it here.

What a great place!! My husband and I were on the way to Annapolis and stopped for a bite at a place we have driven by for a few months - Lures on Rt-178. My girlfriend told me she had stopped in a few weeks or a month ago. She said it was pretty nice... We both ordered the Angus burgers... and both loved them. But the real highlight for me was the cream of crab soup listed on the daily specials. This is my all time favorite appetizer, so I have had many, many renditions. The Lures version was an 11 on a scale of 1 - 10! There was no over use of thickeners, it had just the right 'bite' to it, and a nice amount of lump meat! I must say, if I've had better, it's been a very long time! The atmosphere was casual, and as the name suggests - the decor focused on fishing, boats, and life on the water. Great color scheme, not so much fussy decorations, all with a modern spin. There also was outdoor seating, which I didn't check out. The sign said they were open to 11 pm 7 days and the website notes live music Thursday, Friday and Saturday... I'll be back! luresbarandgrille.com/in…

Have gone twice, have messed up my reservation... twice. Aside from that the beer and food is great. I definitely recommend!

This place is awesome! Great food, incredible beer selection, and great outdoor patio area. Locally owned, live music, unique specials and creative dishes. Lures is absolutley worth the drive.

Wish we lived around the corner from this place. We've slowly been grazing our way through as many Arundel county dining establishments since moving here - and this was a total find! The quality of the ingredients was very obvious the minute our plates arrived. I had the blackened tuna salad with fried asparagus tips, and the hubby had the Lure burger with french fries. Both were excellent. We've been telling everyone that will listen that the food is better than any pub in Annapolis. And we kind of like that the menu is limited; the decision-making process is much easier. Not to mention, every dish sounds like a "standout" rather than "standbys". And the beer selection is out of this world. What was supposed to be a quick lunch between stops at Home Depot and Costco turned into an afternoon at the bar meeting the locals. We will be returning. Often. Especially once it's warm enough to sit on the outdoor patio!
(4)Joanne B.
I don't know how this place has gotten all of these 4 and 5 star ratings. They must be friends of the owners. My cream of crab soup was salty. My entree was nothing special and the smith island cake, well I could have made a better boxed cake. The decor is ok. Maybe if it was on the water it would be ok. Sorry, I won't be back.
(1)John C.
Had a nice Saturday night dinner here recently - one of our faves. It was loud inside (Saturday nite crowd plus folk singer) but we snagged a table outside - the first al fresco dinner of the year. One of the kids gobbled the mussels and they were really, really good. Dinner salad was good as well. I scammed the special - black & blue new York strip - for under $20 as it was a steal. And speaking of steals, check-out the $5 draft specials - I got an Anderson Valley summer beer and a Sierra Nevada Barleywine for $5 each. Don't miss the Smith Island Cake for dessert.
(4)Heather C.
Soups and snacks are really good here -- nice variety, not your average offerings. Always had attentive servers and have found their suggestions to be on point. Patio is so pleasant and romantic. Great date spot in nice weather.
(4)Chris S.
Weird location, great food. Our server was a lot of fun and the vibe is very good. Lots of natural light and nice bright colors inside make it a "feel good" restaurant. Both my wife and I enjoyed our meals and drinks. Seems pretty popular for people with older kids as well as couples out on a date. We'll be back for sure!
(5)Michele K.
First time at Lures. The Service was great. We sat out on the patio - very nice. I ordered the sushi burger with sweet potato fries. The tuna was perfectly cooked and very tasty - perfect seasoning. My only minor complaint - there was a little too much panko in the burger. The sweet potatoes were very good. My husband ordered the crabcake with the homemade bay chips. The crabcake was delicious and did not have a lot of filler. He is a big fan of Hella's crabcake and we both thought this one was better. The bay chips were great. We plan to go back again soon.

I have been to this restaurant enough times that I think I can sum it up with an old nursery rhyme: when she was good she was very very good; when she was bad she was horrid. My first time, ages ago, to this place was a disaster from A to Z. The owner obviously saw our distress and promptly issued us an apology and a gift card to come back and try again. Which, of course, we gladly and gratefully did with hugely improved results. The menu is rather limited but on most of my visits I have been happy with the food and the service. What is a major disappointment though is the change in the Rockfish Bites. This is a dish that was on my very short list of favorite foods in the Annapolis area. Since first having them years ago, they have had a prominent place in my dreams. (Ok, this is why my motto is that "I love food TOO much!") Anyway, I was overjoyed when my friends asked to take me there for my birthday. All the way I thought of those big chunks of fish fried in lumpy bumpy crunchy goodness with that ambrosial plum dipping sauce to top them off. It was the only thing I wanted because they are a meal unto themselves. What I got instead this time were very small bits fried with a smooth coating. Good? Yes. Anything like the orgasmic dish of my dreams? Not even close. I hope the very accommodating owner reads this and goes back to the old recipe, even if it means fewer bites per plate. I would rather have a couple of the best than a plateful of the inferior ones. Will I dream of Rockfish Bites now? Nope... I am sad. I hate losing great food. It seems like this is the curse of the modern world: cut corners and costs; shave on quality for the bottom line; keep quantity even at the cost of quality. It is depressing! So, Lures, pleeeeeaaaaaaaassssee go back to your great dish. I will try again one day and if they are not back to their greatness, I will probably not go out of my way again. The rest of your food is not spectacular enough to "lure" me there, and I am not a beer drinker. Now, I understand that you have become popular enough that losing a customer these days is not as big a deal, but maybe your pride in what you are capable of being will shame you into getting back on track.

Yelp has let me down on this one. Maybe part of the problem was my high expectations from all of the other great reviews. But, my fish was mushy and tasteless. The fried calamari was like tasteless fried rubber bands. And the crab cakes were only so-so... which for Maryland is a no-no. Atmosphere and service was perfectly fine, but the food is not worth the great yelp reviews.
(2)Jamie H.
I like Lures, its modern and has really good food. I don't need to say much more. I love the location and the beautiful surrondings.
(4)Terrence P.
Went here for lunch with a friend. We sat outside on the patio in back and loved the quaint atmosphere. We split the perogies appetizer and i had a grilled vegetable sandwich. It was good and the fries we crunchy and tasty. My friend had the grilled fish tacos which were quite good. The beer selection is incredible and I will be back, if for nothing else than the beers and to try some other menu selections. I'm kicking myself for not getting seafood as it seems thats what they're known for.
(3)Maureen P.
OK, I have been remiss! Yes, Lures has been open for a year and this is the first time I have made it way up to Crownsville from Annapolis. Because ya know it is sooo far! We had all heard good things so being that it was on the way home from PA we called to make a reservation to find out that we hit exactly the one year anniversary celebration. Good thing we called! We waited a few minutes for our table...a band was playing out side and the place was packed. Once seated we were greeted by a great beer happiness hour! If you are looking for a great wine list, you are at the wrong place. Instead of entrees we decided to graze! So, the special was seafood nachos. All three of agreed that these we perhaps the best nacho we have ever had. The little fried fish nuggets were also deliciousis...light yet oh so tasty. I'll be back soon!

Quaint and inviting with consistently great food. Highly recommend.

Before you dismiss my low rating as either a competitor or someone just disgruntled because of poor service or what-have-you, please continue reading, I try to be fair. First off, Yelp defines 2 stars as "Meh. I've experienced better," and 3 stars as "A-OK." Well, I can honestly say I have experienced better. Although the food was OK, I can't rave about it. I was visiting family in Annapolis and after seeing the great reviews left here on Yelp, we decided we should give Lures a try. I really hoped to be impressed and have a good meal. First, the good. The waitstaff was attentive and pleasant--despite a large party of 20 or more we never felt neglected and never had to wait too long for refills, etc.. The service was generally great, and probably deserves 4 stars if that could be separated. The food arrived very quickly (before we had even finished an appetizer). Also, the location and outside seating leads to a great atmosphere--it was a nice evening so I really enjoyed being outside (though I did get a few bug bites). The bad. I ordered the fettuccini alfredo with chicken and shrimp--for some reason I always gravitate toward fettuccini alfredo at restaurants (so I have something to compare to). I'm no chef, my palate is far from refined, but comparatively, the sauce could be improved. The chicken and sauce was rather bland. The broccoli could have been steamed/cooked a little more (may just be my preference), and the cheese was clumped here and there. Overall, though not bad, I have definitely had better. A couple others in my group ordered the fish and chips (aka fries). From their comments the fish was a bit tasteless. Other than that I should not comment more on their meals. However, I stole a fry and I did like the fries. I wish I had ordered a meal that included some. Perhaps we ordered the wrong meals. Most reviews here seem to rave about their burgers and sandwich items. So maybe those are the things to get. If I did not have to drive maybe a beer or two would have helped. In conclusion, although I do not recommend avoiding Lures, I do suggest that you may wish to stick to the safer "American-grill" menu items. If I ever go back those are what I will try. I hope this has been helpful.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and yummy food!!

A fresh sunny spot for a lunch with friends. Food is excellent. Small bar and take-out don't mar the "girls lunch" feel. Family-oriented, too.

I live in Virginia Beach but I am from the Annapolis area and I often meet friends at Lures when here on business. At first, it was a place to meet but it quickly turned into a favorite place to eat and have an exceptional meal with fantastic service. I have been in the restaurant business for many years and this establishment has all the qualities of a casual fine dining restaurant, it seems to be a fun local meeting place that is familly oriented with a touch of the edge (if you are not a prude!) and the only reason i say that is because there is a bar within earshot of the dining area and entertainment on selected nights. The clientele is educated, sophisticated and friendly with a local and surrounding area following. The staff is friendly, fun and pleasant and also knows the menu and can recite the specials without confusion. I was pleasantly surprised when I ordered a special, unfortunately, it was 86ed but they offered the New York Strip, from the menu, for the same price as the special.....I am telling you, for the comparison, the steak was supreme, a better value and as tender and full of flavor as any I have ever had at RC where it is expected to be above and beyond. For the price.....the service and the quality is way beyond any other local restaurant (from previous visits...it has become a standard and isnt an expectation, it is the norm) the food here is fantasic and anyone that enjoys casual, local fun and relaxed atmoshere....this is definitely the place to go in the Annapolis area....from a customers view 4.5 and from a 18 year veteran of bartending from a variety of restaurants from fine dining to southern maryland just down home fun bars and great service....it is a 5.....this place has the quality of fine dining, the comfort of your local bar and restaurant......the service of the finer chains (without the stick up the ***) bottom line....anybody will enjoy this restaurant! If you want a great meal....fun date, first date or 10th anniversary with good entertainment and fantastic service without the extreme price or traffic....this is the place.
(5)Dick B.
I love this little gem of a restaurant, hidden hole in the wall, whatever you want to call it. This place won an award for being the best hidden secret restaurant in Annapolis according to the what's up Magazine and is rightfully so. During the nicer months they have an outdoor seating area in the back where you can enjoy the weather among the trees. Beer selection is fantastic - a great variety. If you come here, be sure to try the Rockfish bites. Best Rockfish I've ever had the pleasure of eating in the state of Maryland if not on Earth. The plum dipping sauce is yum fantastic.
(4)Courtney K.
Bottom Line: Definitely one of the best places for beer in AA Co but the food and atmosphere are satisfying too. My super fun cousin and cousin-in-law lured me to Lures with promises of good craft beer. Little did I know that one of, if not the best, places for craft beer in the county is Lure's in a non-descript location off of General's Highway. I saw a lot of other Yelper's struggled with parking. I went at an off-peak time (Saturday day drinking . . . woohoo) so parking wasn't an issue for me but I can see where the two lots would not be enough to accommodate weekend night diners. The choices here for seating include the front bar, the dining room bar, the dining room and the super cute patio. I opted for the near empty front bar which was quite relaxing with just a few locals hanging out. There is a beer list for the front bar and for the dining room bar but you can order beers off of either list at either bar. Phew! I really, really appreciate that Lures is accommodating of those wanting to order flights. I ordered several flights and really put a hurting on that seasonal, rotating beer list. Amongst my favorites were Son of a Peach (peach flavored wheat ale) by RJ Rockers and The Mayan (chiipotle stout) by Ilkley Brewing. Based on the recommendations of other Yelpers, I tried the Rockfish bites. They were good, but then again, most things are good fried. Service here was good, but then again, the were only about five of us at the bar so we were an easy crowd to manage. My overall experience was so good here that I've been craving a return trip.
(4)Ria V.
I so wanted this place to be exceptional....however that is not the case here today. Frozen fish, canned crab, frozen burger patties, soppy burger buns and undercooked fried pickles was on the menu today. So disappointing The service on the other hand was stupendously delightful!!! No complaints on that end. EVEN when I asked for a different dish, our waitress was still so welcoming and inviting. Sweetheart!! My recommendation-ambiance, hostesses, food runners and waitresses A+++. Hire or retrain chef. No one wants to eat out and be served FROZEN FOODS!!!
(1)Denea J.
My absolute fave neighborhood restaurant! Classy and fancy yet comfortable and relaxing. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Extensive beer menu. Every weekend there is a special dish. Chacho Nachos are my go to EVERY visit.
(5)Elle Z.
Excellent sea food (everything is good). Servers are friendly and the establishment is kid friendly as well. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Only negative - there can be a helluva wait (even in the winter).
(4)Irene K.
Mediocre and overrated - if I pass judgement based on last night's experience. I'd like to write it off as "They Had an Off Night" given the fact the service is friendly and prompt, the courtyard ambiance is darling, and they DO have a fair selection of craft beers, albeit they charge $8 for same glass most comparable establishments charge $5. After 30 minutes waiting in line to park, it was great to get the outdoor table; although failing Bartending-101, our drinks arrived 10 minutes apart, rendering my beer warm and flat before my friend's wine arrived, so there goes our "cheers".. But the food was disappointment of another level.. their signature Chesapeake Chacho's- potato chips topped (allegedly) with Old Bay, Havarti, crab meat, shrimp, sour cream and scallions - were essentially a $15 pile of soggy potato chips with a smidgeon of a teaspoon of the aforementioned topping. The steamed mussels in white wine sauce were an insult to steamed mussels everywhere - the size of fish bait, several of them unopened, hence inedible, swimming in gray dish water, with a side of stale bread. We sent the potato chips back but ate the mussels out of sheer hunger, although the sauce was not sufficiently palatable for dipping the bread. In the staff's defense, they were apologetic and didn't charge for the food. But clearly, it is starting to look as it often happens, popularity ruined the already overpriced food.

Great first time here. Short and sweet. The food was very flavorful and quick to come out. I had the scallops and hubs had the rockfish panang and we had the tuna for an app. The sticky rice was good enough to eat on its own. We sat at the restaurant bar and Andrew was knowledgeable and personable. He recommended great food and great beer selections. Topped the night with the chocolate caramel peanut butter bar and we went home as very happy campers.
(5)Laurel C.
I've been here on several occasions. The food is consistently good. The southwest Mac and cheese is delicious (even when made vegetarian for me!). Pierogies, nachos, and fried chickpeas are all good appetizers. Their specials tend to be really good as well. Their beer selection is really special. You can create a flight to help you decide what to drink, highly recommend. It's a joy to choose beer from their menu, unlike many restaurants with boring, predictable selection. Service is always good, if not particularly friendly. The restaurant is quite loud on weekend nights and can feel very crowded. Outside seating is nice if the weather permits. Parking sucks but they have someone outside directing traffic if its crowded, which helps.
(4)Patti C.
Great atmosphere good food. Great bartender:) I ordered the crab soups and it was delicious. Went here on a recommendation. Spot on. Great place to unwind after a long day!
(4)Kelly F.
YUM! Loved this place! The servers are attentive and their food was incredible. They have fun decor and lots of fun shirts to choose from if you're into that sort of thing.
(5)Alec B.
Food was ok. Drinks were great. Service was good. Mike did a great job taking care of us at the smaller bar while also attending service bar for the restaurant.
(4)Kelly H.
Cute little bar and grill with a flair for craft beers and rockfish. My husband and I drove 13 hours to our destination and this was our first meal of the day. We strongly recommend the Rockfish bites for an appetizer. Sweet little nuggets of deep fried yumminess nearly melted in your mouth. A big plum sauce fan myself, their plum sauce was the perfect companion. We split an Angus burger Black and Bleu style. It was plenty to feed us both. Perfectly cooked and really just a delicious burger. The fries weren't a favorite of ours. We don't mind Old Bay on them, but they kind of tasted like there was vinegar as well. Lots of people love vinegar on their fries, just not us. For dessert, we ordered the Creme brûlée cheesecake. Now, I have a rule about Creme Brûlée - if it is on the menu in any form, I have to order it. So, I expected normal vanilla cheesecake with the crunchy brûlée top. The cheesecake actually was a delicious rendition of Creme brûlée, but the top wasn't crunchy. However, that did not stop me from gobbling it down. I would go back to Lure's anytime.
(3)James H.
The food was excellent both in taste and quality. I was disappointed in the portion size of the seared scallops -- 4 scallops that were not large nor jumbo but actually borderline small / medium; I did feel this entree (while good) was not worth the price based on the small portion. Frustrating was the perception that their two servers were not communicating well during the early afternoon on a Sunday. Two groups of the same size came in after us and stated they had no reservations and were seated ahead of us.
(3)Donna W.
Great food and service. I had the grilled prawn and ceviche. Awesome. Hubby had a special which was spaghetti and meatballs in a bread bowl. Beer selection was very good and the server helped out with a beer selection for me. Smith Island cake was a great dessert. We avoided the small parking situation by coming late afternoon on Sunday!
(5)Will Z.
This is the easiest review. Great food, sweet and attentive staff, and great beer selection. Worth the drive to enjoy the total package. And the sushi burger is a must have.
(5)Jason D.
Very good food. The Rockfish bites were excellent, as was the Sushi burger. The filet au poivre was very tender, but not very peppery. Pretty good wine list, but a bit pricey. Service was just OK, but my real problem was the noise level. On a Friday evening it was not possible to have a normal conversation at our table. Maybe it would be quieter outside.
(4)laura g.
Definetly have the caramel cake! Holy cow! The only issue I had was that the ceiling fans were on high and cooled off our food too quickly. Great service though; make sure to come around 5pm if you want to sit outside. We just missed the opportunity at 5:45pm. It was so nice to be set back in the woods a little; very calming.
(5)Amanda P.
Very good food. Highly recommend the bison burger and fish tacos. Also, good fried pickles - the batter was really crunchy. Friendly service. Nice beer selection. Looking forward to trying out other menu items!
(4)Caitlin C.
I really enjoyed almost everything about this place. The waitstaff is friendly and very attentive without being annoying. The atmosphere is clean and refreshing without being cold, and the bar area is very cosy with a few different sections all with decent views of the televisions. The drink menu is creative and affordable; I had a gin cocktail with St.. Germaine, egg whites, and basil which was strong without being overpowering, well presented with a light pink foamy garnish, and very, very good. There were great happy hour specials but we got there a little later, unfortunately. We would've loved to take advantage of some half priced appetizers. We split the tuna tartare appetizer, which was fresh and had a fantastic taste. We only wished there was more toast cut in smaller pieces! The "seafood nachos" were also very good, served on their house made potato chips. For dinner, I had the rockfish quesadilla which was AMAZING. Really superb. The fish was fresh and the blackening seasoning was delicious without being overpowering. It was very got with melty cheese and delicious veggies, including mushrooms which complemented the fish perfectly. My SO had the rockfish panini which looked just as great as my quesadilla. His mom, who we met for dinner, had the sliders which smelled pretty delicious too. We split some chocolate cake for dessert which was fudgy and moist, and served with half a plate of fresh whipped cream which is an A+ in my book. Can't wait to get back for more rock quesadillas!

Well, we returned within a week of first trying this place, which is the highest compliment my wife and I can give it! Love love love the Angus Beef Chili. Very fresh tasting and bursts with flavor. Lots of beans (kidney, black and navy) and lots of ground beef. Served with cheese and a dollop of sour cream over top, and a piece of moist absolutely delicious jalapeño & cheddar cheese cornbread. I would return here for this alone. But there's more! My wife is vegetarian and we really like the handful of vegetarian options found on their appetizer and sides menus. The Jalapeño Rangoons are unlike anything I've tasted anywhere else. Cream cheese flavored with bits of jalapeño and red peppers, served in a crispy wonton wrapper with plum sauce for dipping. So good. The combination of the spicy sweet of the plum sauce with the crispy creamy rangoon is out of this world. My wife really loves their mashed potatoes and caesar salad, and I liked the fried mushrooms, which are done in a beer batter and well seasoned. The only thing I've had there that I did not enjoy were the pierogies, which I thought came off as very bland next to everything else we tried. The service is friendly and attentive. Just all around great place.

100% consistent all the time! Best balance of great food, drinks, service, atmosphere and price of any restaurant anywhere. This is our go-to place! Once a month at a minimum to three times a week at times. Always a great dining experience!

Delicious food, and charming atmosphere! I recommend the filet mignon sliders for people on a budget who also want some great steak! Me and my family go here all the time and there is always something for everyone!

I love the food and beers at Lures! Tons of awesome beers on draft and in bottle and flights available. Love the fresh rockfish when it's in season. Vegetarian options too but the fish choices are great! Huge outdoor patio. Restaurant gets busy during peak times. Last time we went the service was so bad we were laughing with the table next to us about it. Neither table was acknowledged for over 10 mins after being seated- no water, no "hello, I'm busy I'll be right there". The waitresses were running around to the tables around us but missed us and the table was dirty. Other than that all other trips have been great. Love the rockfish quesadilla and the fish or veggie panini.

Great local place with tasty food and unbelievable beer selection. The atmosphere is Caribbean and laid back. They focus on fresh fish and are always changing the menu. The tuna tartar and seared tuna appetizers are fresh and flavorful. They also have wonderful happy hour specials at good prices. Fun place to go with friends and family and have a very relaxing time.

I am surprised there are so few reviews for Lures because it is a popular and heavily visited restaurant. This may be because of its somewhat out-of-the-way location but that appears to make them try all that much harder. And the effort pays off because this is a very friendly, comfortable and enjoyable venue. The menu covers a lot of ground with an emphasis on certain seafood (rockfish and oysters in particular). There is a wide variety of appetizers and salads and the beer menu is legendary in these parts. The only difficulty you might experience is getting a table on a weekend but they appear to have taken over an adjoining space and now have a seat yourself option serving the same menu as the main dining room. The bar is also an excellent place to meet folks, and enjoy the best martini available in Crownsville. Outdoor patio dining in summer is very nice too

Sorry Lures- tonight you dropped the ball. Service terrible tonight. We sat in the bar area. Took forever to be greeted and when we were, wasn't with a smile . It was just 2 of us around 7. Food consistently good, but service and friendliness very lacking tonight. Huge disappointment.

I'm all about giving new places (to me) a fair chance, but 2 strikes and you're OUT! Tried to get in for happy hour on Dec. 26. Parking is a nightmare, high tops in the bar for 6 people and only had 2 sitting there. Asked the hostess about "wait time" for dining room and she said she "didn't know how long it would be"...really? Tried again for early dinner on Saturday (5pm) called first and was told that they not only do not take reservations, but also do not have a call-ahead list, but we were told that it wasn't very busy. Arrived 10 minutes later and were told "I don't know...maybe 30 minutes or so"...where is the management for this place? Do they even know that this is how their patrons are treated? How about training your staff? Won't waste my time "trying" again unless they take reservations or at the very least, a call-ahead list. Too many other choices in this area.

Pros: great local beer selection, good food, friendly staff, clean Cons: small parking area, sometimes slow service

My mom has been raving about Lures for a few months now, so when my fiancé and I were in town this weekend, my whole family was able to go out and try it out. Let me start by saying that I love going out to eat with my family - I always get to sample everyone's food! My Dad ordered the Moscow mule, which was so refreshing and light. Perfect drink for a hot day in the summer. Also, my mom was able to get a free drink by coming in with four people of legal drinking age - check out the website for more details. We started off with the loaded potato crisps with crab meat, pico de gallo, and assorted other toppings, and chorizo queso. The chorizo queso came with chips and soft pretzel sticks for dipping. Both were absolutely delicious. I loved the dip so much I decided to get the chorizo rice bowl for my main dish. Another super tasty option, and filling. Also I love that all the meals are served with a tiny piece of lettuce with a goldfish on the side. A cute and quirky touch. For dessert, I had the salted caramel cake which was my favorite dish all night. The salty caramel balanced the sweet cream in the middle perfectly. I have to dock them a star for service. While the waitress was sweet, she was all over the place. She forgot to take off the free drink, wasn't very knowledgeable about the menu, and never cleared out dishes. When dessert came out, all of our dirty dishes from appetizers and dinner were still there. Drinks were rarely refilled. I understand crazy Saturday night rush, but you've got to be attentive when present at your tables. Also parking is a nightmare. Nothing really can be improved about that, but there was an attendant outside assisting. I would definitely return. The menu had a great variety, and I saw tons of other things I wanted to try.

Great ever-changing beer selection. Everything I've ordered off this menu is great, you really can't go wrong eating here.

Came back to this "off the path eatery" to find a new decor and a brunch menu. Brunch gives you quite a few options as we were also given the lunch menu and specials menu on a Sunday am. We shared the chicken nachos which were quite good and came out quickly. Service from there on was painfully slow. Eggs Bene were good, a few eggs over poached. The Chesapeake Bene with crab salad was not a "do again". The heavy celery portion obscured the crabs texture and flavor. I would have preferred the smaller portion of crab alone perched atop the hollandaise and eggs. Nice looking beer menu will have us coming back for dinner. A frosty mug might have lessened the pain from the service.

Always tasty great food. My wife's BLT fabulous, my sushi burger superb. Beer and wine selections are great too. Salads fresh, sushi APP just average. We ate the bar and I will say the service was below their average. A younger family with 6-8 totally unruly kids overwhelmed the staff and on top of that the one dad was very rude. The noise and lack of attention from our bar tender was not his fault. The manager should have sent more servers to the bar. Our $90 lunch was not enjoyed as much as we would have liked. This is not the first time the bar has gotten overwhelmed.

Nice place. Like the decor. Waitstaff very friendly and helpful. Tuna tartar tasty and spicy. Great burger, perfectly cooked. My husband really liked the chicken club.

We are a fan. We are foodies, relocated from Wash DC so we are picky and we tried Lures and it definitely passed the test. Good food, the rockfish app was yummy! And the bar is super cute. They have an outdoor patio. Also kid friendly, it's louder in there so you can definitely get away with bringing the little ones which is good for us to know.

What a quaint little pub and restaurant in Crownsville. We dined here with another couple on a Saturday night, and the first thing we noticed was the parking lot was packed! There were literally no places to park. The restaurant is obviously aware of this problem as they had an employee directing cars to the spots as they became available. Our friends had dined here before and thought ahead to make reservations for us, otherwise there was a wait of 60-90 minutes. The atmosphere was nautical and what you might expect in an Annapolis suburb. Our waitress was wonderful - very patient and attentive. We started with a couple of appetizers - fried pickle spears and rockfish bites. I personally thought the breading on the pickles was a bit heavy, and did not care for them, but the rest of my party really enjoyed them. The rockfish bites were tasty, but again, a little too much breading for my liking. For our main courses, we had rockfish quesadillas, shrimp and grits, fish tacos, and broiled scallops. One thing that I did not prefer was the fact that all dishes come paired with specific sides. I prefer to choose which vegetable and side items come with my meat. Some substitutions were allowed, but I would prefer to select from a list of side items. The flavor of the food was very good. The sauce on the shrimp and grits was amazing. The scallops were a little undercooked, but passable. The fish tacos and quesadillas were good. The overall experience was nice. Nothing spectacular, but far better than average. I thought the prices were a little high for the quantity and quality of food, but that is typical of a unique independent pub such as this in the Annapolis area. In the summer time they have an outdoor seating area which looks quite nice. I can't imagine the parking situation when they double their seating area with the patio. Be sure to make a reservation before you go.

Yelp reviews steered us to Lures for date night this week, and I am so happy that they did. I didn't know that we needed a reservation (oops), but the waitstaff was happy to accomodate as long as we didn't mind waiting about 30 minutes, which we didn't. The O's were playing and the crowd was loudly cheering at the bar when we arrived. Had I realized that it was going to be more of a sports bar that night, I might have chosen another restaurant for date night since I usually opt for the more relaxed and/or romantic setting, but I am happy that I went. I appreciate the celebration, especially for a team like the Orioles, so I could only be so irked. Once the food came though, I was taken away to an entirely different planet all together. We started with the Rockfish bites - an appetizer served lightly breaded with a side of cocktail and spicy plum sauces. It was absolutely fabulous. In fact, I wish I had more right now. My hubby and I went on to share two entrees - the Thai Style Salmon Panang (coconut milk & red curry panang served with sautéed seasonal vegetables, sweet sticky rice and blackened fresh Atlantic salmon) and Bacon Wrapped Jumbo Scallops served with mashed potatoes (although we got broccoli instead) and grilled asparagus. The scallops were smothered in a housemade bbq sauce that was delicious, but way too much for the delicate nature of the scallops, in my opinion. Definitely less is more when it comes to the bbq. Still - it was fabulous. I would definitely get it again (just ask for the bbq on the side) and the Thai Style Salmon Panang was flawless. To have this place close to home is really a treat. You wouldn't expect to fine a meal this fabulous outside of a major city, but nevertheless, Crownsville reigns King with Lures. P.S. Apparently I missed summer here, but I won't make that mistake moving forward. There's a beautiful deck with streaming lights outside that begs to be visited again!

I love Lures, BUT $8.00 a pint + tax so $8.75 a pint for beer is getting ridiculous! Yes they have a great selection of quality beers, but the price point is too high. Always great food & awesome service!

This was an excellent dining experience. The food was well prepared and came out in proper timing. Came for the first time with my girlfriend for her birthday. She loves the food and the atmosphere. She is picky at what she likes and eats. Don't tell her I said that. The waitress was well mannered and polite.

Excellent food! Excellent desserts! It just doesn't get any better than 'Lures'!

Great food. Very little parking. Need a bigger lot. They are losing business because of lack of enough parking

With a few visits under my belt is is time to finally review, Lures. First and foremost, you don't come to Lures and order a natty boh, or a Miller lite. Blasphemy! You order a great divide oak aged yeti, or maybe a DFH 60 Minute, but most certainly not a Budweiser Platinum! Now that, that's over onto the food. I have tried a few dishes from here. The calamari is delicious and perfectly cooked, the raspberry sauce pairing is awesome. The fish and chips are fair. The Angus sliders were good, have them prepared Lures style, and enjoy melted Havarti cheese, grilled onions, and sautéed shrooms. The Angus fillet sliders ( not burger sliders) are okay ; the cuts of steak is good, and so is the balsamic vinegar sauce, but the giant loaf of cheese is a little too much for the size sandwich's. If you can, sit out side. The woods, above string lights ( from your table), and the tunes makes for a nice night out with any sized party. I have had the same waitress each visit, she's been great and friendly. She also does have a wealth of beer knowledge and wine knowledge for pairing to the foods (if needed). 4 stars, great place all around! - Happy Hour pricing on beer discounts draughts only M - F until 7pm - Look for their daily specials, seasonal foods are normally offered, or discounted beers - Outside patio is a great experience ** Parking is hard to find, make sure to get there for before the dinner rush 5:30 onward and it can be a real mess. They're working on expanding the parking, but until then, just a heads up **
