Today is my sisters birthday and when I asked her where she wanted to go she said Lemongrass. So I ran to Yelp and saw the terrible reviews on service and food. I actually called my sister and asked her to please change her mind. She said no and insisted that we still come and I am so glad that she did. The food was pretty good. I ordered a Mai Tai, and steamed dumplings. They were moist and not too chewy. My sister ordered fried tofu which had no taste. The star of the night was her shrimp fried rice. It had great flavor and you didn't even need soy sauce. For dessert she ordered the sticky rice and mango. The waitress was so nice that she added extra coconut custard. At the end of the night we were full and happy. I will be back!

I stopped in on a Sunday evening, and it wasn't very crowded. I received a friendly greeting when I walked in and I was promptly seated. My order was taken and served pretty quickly so the service was great. I had a simple order of Tom Yum soup and rice that was nicely prepared.

We have gone to several different Thai spots in DC, Annapolis, and Baltimore and this place ranks right with the best of them even though we are here in the burbs!! It's large, so often the tables are not fully filled but the food and the service is superb and will not disappoint you. Give this place a try!!!

New Owners in 2014. The lemongrass of Annapolis group treated this location as a bast*rd stepson, but its turned around now. Just needs to rebuild clientele. I had: lemongrass soup, chicken satay, crispy wontons and sweet and sour chicken (not a chinese version for the record). All food was super tasty and bright rich flavors and fresh ingredients. Give this spot another try yelpers!

Great food, love the Thai iced tea too! Nice little play area for the kiddos while you eat. Never too loud or crowded
(5)Neil B.
HORRIBLE Service!!! I walked into the restaurant and say at the bar with only two other customers in the restaurant and it took fifteen minutes to be given a menu. I then waited another ten minutes after I had decided what to order without anyone returning. I finally just left. I will never return to this location.

Simply the most relaxed enjoyable family restaurant we've visited in a long time. Food was fantastic, & they were very accommodating with kids -- they even had an entire room playground for the kids with chalk walls and toys! Strongly recommend that curry with shrimp although it is spicy even though not marked so. Kids' dishes and meals were perfect sized and delicious.

Wow, a 2.5 overall stars on Yelp? No wonder! I didn't even look up this restaurant before visiting a few weeks ago, so I had no idea it had such abysmally low ratings. I didn't think the experience was all that terrible, but it certainly does not warrant any more than 3 stars. I visited a few weeks ago with a fairly large party (there were about 20-30 of us) on a Thursday evening. It was nice that they accommodated such a large party and it was also nice that they have a kids' play area and plenty of aquariums around to amuse the kids. What was not so nice was the service - they were extremely slow about bringing out the food and it came out at awkwardly staggered intervals. The service was slow with water and other beverage refills as well, which is not great at a Thai restaurant where the food can get spicy. I decided not to be too adventurous so I ordered my usual chicken Pad Thai. My dish was pretty decently sized and it was tasty enough. However, my aunt ordered the Pad Pak (fresh mix vegetable stir-fried in garlic sauce with choice of chicken, beef or pork) and she said it was extremely mild and had no flavor at all. She ended up having to send it back but still did not enjoy it very much when it came back. Since there are so many other Thai restaurants in the DMV area, I would suggest going elsewhere.

Never been to lemongrass before but took a chance and ordered carry out. Everything was excellent. Had fish lettuce wraps which were super crisp. Green curry w seafood and basil mussels were great! Definitely try the tom ka gai soup.

Well I keep trying to give this place the benefit of the doubt but it never ceases to disappoint me desperation kicks in.....and I try again. Ginger Mojito used to be good here and pad thai to go after a long week is tempting. But here are my regular observations while I wait for many many minutes for someone to staff the bar and make a drink. Not one person at the bar. .... Smells like a old downtown Annapolis bar the morning after a big night before anyone's started to fill the place and make it smell a bit more in habitable... Only this is a constant state here. Bad ventilation and cleaning protocols. .... Despite area restaurants having a pretty decent happy hour this place is too often empty. Friday evenings should at least have a handful of people in the bar and more than three tables no one at the door and literally three tables. Consistently understaffed even for the few people here as my wait for a drink was testimony to. At long last my mojito came and sure enough barely acceptable. A couple of years ago they had a great bartender here made amazing mojitos ginger ones in fact...... The woman who made mine clearly is not a bartender this tastes like sprite with a few min leaves some syrup and lime. If I had not seen the rum she put in herself I would just call it quits. No longer excited for my pad thai..... Overall just depressing. You definitely can't look too closely at any one area or you will find its dirty flaws.

You will not be disappointed when u order their chicken pad thai. It's flavorful and delicious. It's not an Americanized version either. The tofu fried rice is yummy. You can taste the garlic and u can just eat it by itself. The spring roll is good too and comes with sweet and sour dipping sauce. The crispy green beans are yummy too with the dipping sauce. I didn't care for the cashew chicken. It's breaded and the chicken tastes dry and was hrs to chew. The pad see ew chicken is okay. I think it needs a little more sauce to flavor the thick rice noodles. Also sometimes when u call in ur order they don't pick up the phone or they take forever to answer so the answering machine picks up. But I keep coming back here for the pad Thai because it's the best in the Bowie/Crofton area. And yes it's better than the Thai at Waugh chapel.

This place is severely understaffed. We walked in to the counter and stood around unsure if we should seat ourselves or continue to wait. Finally after almost 5 minutes, someone came out of the back and showed us to our seats. It turns out, one lady is the only person working the front of the house. This wasn't too bad because the place wasn't all that busy (about 6 tables), but it did mean longer wait times on EVERYTHING! I should have known something was up when the front door has a list of positions available for hire. Also strange, a sign that said 18% gratuity would be added to all bills. Personally I despise this policy with the exception of large parties, because it suggests the service likely is subpar and not receiving adequate tips. The food was good, fresh Thai fare. It wasn't the best I've ever had but far from the worst. Kids menu prices were definitely high. It cost almost the same for a kid noodle as it did for an adult lunch, even though the portions are much smaller for kids. Another problem, they had things on the menu that were not actually avaialble. It happened to us and another table when we placed our order. Not that a restaurant can never be out of a certain ingredient, but it would be helpful if the staff let you know that ahead of time. The ambiance of the place was quite interesting. It looks like it was originally another, more extravagant eatery. There are holes in the floor from where old tables were bolted down. One nice touch was the kids' place area with viewable fish tank. It was one of the few times our little one didn't mind waiting for food. Overall, B- on the food but the long wait times and questionable policies are a turnoff. With other Thai options, I probably wouldn't return.
(2)Jessica M.
What a cool little find. I don't think a lot of people know about it, since it was super empty when we were there. Great for kids, with a little play area for them while waiting for their food, or if the adults want to hang out a bit after the meal. Food was good. Atmosphere was very quiet on the day we went. Would go back again.
(5)Kerrin G.
The food is OK, certainly not the best Thai I've had but not terrible. However, the service is HORRIBLE! The wait to receive your food is ridiculous, and the host is rude. They act as if you are inconveniencing them by ordering take-out and will spend their time trying to convince you why you should order from them, rather than just taking your order.
(2)Jessica M.
Earlier I wrote a terrible review for this place. Originally we ordered delivery from them and it took well over two hours for the food to travel 3 miles. We decided to give them a second chance only this time we would eat there. Here's the deal: the food is really good when you eat there. The service is friendly and fast as well. The decor leaves a little something to be desired but that's never stopped me from trying a place. I recommend eating there. I will definitely be back. DO NOT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO DELIVERY. Otherwise it's delicious.

Used a coupon from Restaurants.com - $10 off $20 meal. I was anticipating having a cocktail while waiting for the meal, however the waitress informed that a 18% tip would be added to check because I was using the coupon ???? - the sign is on the door - which I missed. So I just order the dumplings, which were gummy and the pad thai. The chicken was cold as if they have just microwaved it and the dish was very unremarkable. Of, I will not be returning. By the way the restaurant was empty at 5:30 p.m.

I ordered Thai Wings and Pad Ka Pow with Tofu. It was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere of the restaurant is calm and relaxing and the staff was extremely nice. I will be coming back here and enjoying their delicious Thai cuisine.

This place is right around the corner from my work, but I just recently finally ate there. I wasn't very impressed. We got a couple appetizers that I feel like I could've bought in the frozen food section in Walmart (while the fried green beans were good...why do Americans on making healthy things, unhealthy?). Everybody got something different, portions were about the same size on everything regardless of what it was, though. I got the calamari, which I understand is an appetizer, but jeez...I got like three rings. I feel like for the price, there should've been more. The won-ton soup was actually pretty decent...but I wouldn't come to a sit-down restaurant just for soup, either. I stuck to the water as my drink since their drink menu was confusing and didn't interest me. I don't see myself going out of my way to come back, but it wasn't AWFUL. It had a nice vibe to it, was quiet, and staff was decent. I just don't think the food is worth the prices.

My husband had purchased a living social deal to eat here. I was not looking forward to this meal because it didn't have the best reviews. It ended up being alright food. If you're near by it's not too bad to check out but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Finally got to try Lemongrass tonight. However it was a lackluster experience. I purchase my corrective lenses through VisionDirect.com and my last order received $50 in credits for Restaurants.com . I was happy to find a $10 on $15 + for Lemongrass when I redeemed the credits. I had seen positive Yelp reviews for Lemongrass but I must have been confused because I don't see those now. Due to a lot of recent travel and exhaustion I chose to call in and carry out. The lady that answered the phone was very friendly and pleasant and I placed the order for red curry and veggie spring rolls with ease. I was told my order would be ready in 20 minutes. Upon arrival 15 minutes later, I was shocked to discover they were locking up for the night. Especially since it was only 7:45pm. When I got to the door the guy said, "Oh are you here for carry out? My bad!" Oookayyy.... Everything else went smooth. They were very friendly and gave me a rundown of the history of Lemongrass. The inside was pretty nice looking. Couldn't wait to get home and try the food, especially since they said they use the same recipes as Lemongrass in Annapolis, one of my favorites. The food was bland and tasted nothing like the Annapolis recipes. The spring rolls were tasty, but lacked something, though I can't put my finger on it. The curry was just dull. Not spicy, not flavorful although the veggies were nice and large. I had to add a lot of spices from my own cabinet to flavor up the meal so pretty happy I brought it home. Overall, I probably wouldn't visit again. It wasn't a bad experience but there are definitely better Thai options in the area.

Good thai food, haven't had a bad experience there. The servers are good and attentive and food is flavorful and unique. I love coming and getting take out here on crisp fall days as all the thai spices warm me up and good for you too!
(4)Francisco S.
Great place for Thai food. Our favorites are Red Curry and Drunken Noddles. The service is good. Not for 2 star rating. Wonder why this is. All dishes were awesome. You should visit.
(5)Tanzer T.
Horrible. Ordered the fried beans, the spring rolls and the crispy duck. Following happened: Food was late When arrived food was lightly warm versus hot The crispy duck tasted horrible (Had to send it back) Did not get anything instead of the Duck and they only discounted 50% of it. If you are someone that wants wholesome good food than DO NOT GO HERE. Thanks

Last night I ordered from here for carry-out. When I went in to pick up and pay, the waitress wrinkled her nose when I presented a restaurant.com certificate. She told me that she will have to charge me an 18% "gratuity" charge. I asked her why and she replied "YOU pay money to this place but we get nothing". I advised her that perhaps they may wish to cancel their relationship with Restaurant.com . She responded "We keep calling and they don't remove us so we have to charge you". Huh? Your restaurant has an issue with Restaurant. com so I get penalized? It was the oddest thing. It was only a $10 coupon. I asked her what is the penalty....er....uh....the "gratuity" (for allowing me to use a coupon) charge. Almost $4.00. Ok....sooooooo I paid $4 for the coupon and I am supposed to pay another $4, which nets me $2.00?? Lol - I think not! Apparently, they don't understand that the purpose is to get butts in seats and on a busy Tuesday night at the many many places to eat that I drove past on Rt. 3 - they had a total of 3 people dining there. The doors were wide open and they have several small floor fans blowing through the place. It looked tired, worn and beat. I said "No thank you" and retrieved my certificate from the waitress, got back in my car and drove back north on Rt. 3 after checking YELP and went straight to Thai at Waugh Chapel. I have never been there before and did not use a coupon and I was satisfied and will return. As for LEMONGRASS - never ever will I go there. I already exchanged my certificate for another new establishment I wanted to try out. As of today, they are still listed on Restaurant.com and I noted that they raised their minimum order amount, so that tells me that they have not requested being taken off the site, but rather, went in and modified their requirements. Additionally, there is a printed sign near the register that states their new policy of charging a gratuity for using a coupon. It does not take a lot of thought to know that they have not been trying very hard and instead, is simply betting that someone will want their food bad enough to just pay and be done with it. Hope they enjoyed all the food I left on their counter.

Thai is my favorite food. I'm a HUGE fan of trying new Thai restaurants just to see if I might find the next greatest place! This was not it. It was okay Thai, but nothing more. I went with a friend and we both shared the Pad Thai, Green curry and spring rolls. All average. The staff was nice, but it didn't make up for the food. I will continue on my quest to find the area's greatest Thai elsewhere...
(2)Amy K.
We've carried out from here a few times and the food is always just okay but we do b/c you can't really get Thai food anywhere else in the area. Decided to eat in this time since our youngest is old enough to take out and they have a kids area in the middle of the dining room which is great but that was about the only thing that was great. We were the only ones there when we arrived for an early dinner and another table came in after us. By the time we left, there were only 4 tables full in the place. One would think you would have quick and efficient service because of the few numbers but that was not the case. There was only one person serving and a man (I assumed was the owner or a manager) sitting at a table in the back. The waitress brought us our waters but never took drink orders so we waited until she came for food orders to order drinks. Getting our spring roll appetizer seemed to take forever. The table who came in after us got their food first and our entrees arrived one by one with long gaps in between instead of at the same time. The man from the back helped deliver our food and was also wearing beat up sandals which I thought was interesting for a food service worker. The food was just okay. Our spring rolls were pretty good but we got the smallest dish of hoisin sauce to go with it. I got the Masaman Curry and it was really, really soupy. Although the taste was good, there was definitely way more liquid and few pieces of pork and veggies. They didn't give nearly enough rice to go with. My oldest got noodles and crab from the kids menu and she really like it. My husband got Chicken Pad Pak and it was sloppy, soupy and salty with very few veggies. He ordered Tom Yum soup with it but she forgot to put in the order and gave it to him in a to go container. When we got home and opened the bag, it was only filled up halfway in the small container. It was disappointing for the large sum of money it costs for those few meals. The waitress never asked if we wanted anything else to drink when we ran out halfway through the meal. She looked a little stressed and was racing around a lot doing everything herself so the service was just no good. As we were leaving around 5:30, two more waitresses rolled in and went immediately to work to help out. Not sure why they don't have at least 2 people on from the minute they open for business. I think I'd rather drive to Silver Spring for decent Thai food than fork over my money for mediocre food and service at this location.

Do not eat here!!! My husband and I have been loyal lemon-grassers for months now, after my boss introduced us to the restaurant. But today, I just had one of the most disturbing conversations with a manager there that has left me with a very very bitter taste!! Here's how it went down. Before ordering my lunch I informed the waitress that I would be using a gift certificate from Restaurants.com and asked her if this was ok, to which she sweetly replied, yes, of course. (FYI: the gift card covered $10 on a meal of $15+). After finding a meal that would allow me to only have to spend the $5 minimum, I placed my order for the lunch portion of the Tilapia. Well, shortly after placing my order I got distracted by my phone, so when the lady told me the amount I just pulled out my card for her to swipe. It wasn't until I finished with my phone and looked down at my receipt that I realized she had charged me the dinner portion for the meal.. No big deal, I thought. I went back to the cashier and told her that I was accidentally charged the wrong amount and kindly requested my refund for the difference, as it was still lunch time. Rather than admitting her mistake, the lady said to me that there is only one price for the Tilapia, and invited me to to look at her screen. I responded to her that if that is the case (which of course I know it isn't) that their menu is very misleading because it lists a dinner and a lunch price. After she looks at the menu she does to get her manager/cook. Surely the manager would understand, right? WRONG! Rather, than compensating me for the difference, the manager offers to get me another iced tea-- c'mon, how insulting? Clearly the mark-up for the iced-tea is crazy b/c we all know the real price of a cup of tea is no more than 50 cents! I politely refused the manager's offer, and simply requested to be refunded the difference. At this point the manager gets angry and tells me that since I used the gift certificate he's making virtually no money from my transaction... and says that He hates when ppl come to his store using gift certificates... To me, this clearly sounds like a personal problem, not one that is the fault of a customer-- naturally, I respond that in no way is it my fault that they issued certificates with Restaurant.com , and that that proper way to handle business would be to refund me the money based on his employee's error!! Finally the manager gives me the money, and adds "Don't come back here!" "Especially with a coupon!" -- HOW RUDE?!!!!! No worries, Lemongrass. I will never come back.

Three of us came in for an early dinner. The place looks really nice- upmarket, trendy colors and decor. But, the silverware- all three knives were filmy. Yet forks looked brand new. how odd was that? Whatever they're using for a dish washer isn't doing a complete job, I'm afraid. The food was all good- no exceptions here. But, nothing stood out, either. I've had better Tom Yum soup, for example. But, it was all still uniformly good. Just nothing to rave about, to be honest. Wait staff was great, the food was all hot, and the service was fast. There's a very large private meeting room in the back, and a full bar up front. No outdoor seating.

I heard great things about the one in annapolis, and since i live in bowie i figured i would give it a shot after a long day of work......mistake. I called in the to-go order and was told 15 min, so i headed out. Got there....no order in my name, that should have been a sign. So i re-ordered the meal, and after 15 min it was ready. Got home, and was not impressed by the looks, but moved on to taste.....it didnt get any better!! Crispy duck was like rubber, crab fried rice should b called crab and mushy rice with some soy sauce. Wife got the chicken fried rice, it was rice with soy sauce, a tomatoe and piece of brocoli and onion. Spring rolls werent much better, but it was the best of the best. Not a good way to try and get my wife to try something different at all!!!
(1)Thuy E.
Food is okay...yes i went there late.. But no excuse for rice being a bit on soggy side... I dont know much...but rice i know.
(2)Matthew R.
I'm not sure what the deal is with this place. How do they stay in business? I very rarely see anyone in there for dinner. Which is likely because the food is mediocre at best. My last visit was on a Thursday and they were setting up for a band. Is that how they stay in business? As a bar? And I'm just there too early to see the crowds? I don't know.
(2)Ravi P.
the best thai I've eaten in the US!
(5)Michael Z.
I have live in the area for 5 years or so and have always wanted to try Lemongrass. Finally tried it out and it was decent. We got the chicken satay for an appetizer and the chicken was a little dry. Peanut sauce was ok. I had the drunken noodles with beef. I'm no Thai expert, but I liked them. It was spicy as advertised. My friend had the green chicken curry and that was good as well. Prices are pretty much you would expect $8-20 for specials on the higher end. Now the decor is something to be desired. The dining room is spacious and could be cut in half. At one point we were the only ones in the restaurant. The booths need a make over as does the rest of the place.
(2)Shar J.
I just have one thing to say...ROACHES! Two of them decided to dine with me and my friend at lunch. I was not very happy and then when I told the waitress, she informed me that they had sprayed the kitchen the night before and the roaches must have moved to the front of the house. Nice! I later found a hair in my to go box. The food met a horrible end in the garbage can. I won't be returning.

Try Lemongrass in Annapolis but leave this one alone (at least until the clean up their act). Food: just ok. It used to be amazing. My family told me the broccoli was stale and they wouldn't finish their meals. It did seem as if the sauces were just reheated versions of something made fresh a while ago. Maybe the low customer numbers means they only prepare fresh food once in a while? Staff: The new young waiter was the one good point. I hope the bartender does not influence/diminish the young man's work ethic. The bartender and his friends were oblivious to customers and families. They were real potty-mouths. The bartender didn't seem to listen very well to the customers. Also, some random guy walked in with greasy hands (he had been working on his car) went behind the bar, poured a coke for himself and used the ice container. It would be ok if he didn't have to grab a mini ice shovel and dig in to gather ice. I made the mental note to never order a drink b/c the ice container is likely contaminated. If the kid washed his hands I didn't see it - hopefully he did but I kind of doubt it. Hopefully they can clean up their act and regain business. I suggest they just focus on weekend business and close the rest of the week to save money and return to quality food and overall service.
(2)Laura R.
I admit, I have always been underwhelmed by Lemongrass, but last night's experience pretty much sealed the deal. We decided to give it another try after our original choice was packed. There was only one other couple in the restaurant, which should have been a sign. When looking at the drink menu, I noticed Shock Top was on tap, so that's what I ordered. A few minutes later, the waitress comes back and says they don't carry Shock Top. Hmmm... Apparently they did have bottled Blue Moon (not on the menu), so I ordered that and it was brought to me with no glass. Weird. Our dinners (drunken noodle and lemongrass noodle) were ok. But the unlatch silverware, giant crack in the dirty wall, and wait staff crowded around the bar with nothing to do set me on edge.
(2)Brannan V.
We love Lemongrass. The staff is so accommodating and will adjust the level of "spiciness" on your dish to whatever you'd like. They also have a kids play area and we love coming and bringing our daughter. Tommy is great and told us about all of the specials, which are offered on the weekends. I enjoyed the Duck with Mango Sauce and everyone else enjoyed the Crispy Seafood Special. The kids had chicken satay, spring rolls, wontons, and rice. The drink menu is very creative and we liked everything we tried. We will be coming back soon!!

I will not be going back to Lemongrass, a place I used to frequent often. I also will never step foot in Tsunami or any other restaurant run by this mysterious Kapowgroup. I would write a long clever review, but I just can't bring myself to write the words. If I could just spit in this section of the review and have the computer translate the amount of venom I have for this place I would. Let's see if I can peck out a short cliff notes version to summarize this evenings dinner (which will be my final) at Lemongrass. Arrive at 8:00. Get rushed to a table. Notice that all of the old staff is gone. The restaurant is lit up. Stevie Ray Vaughn is raping his electric guitar with the amp turned up to 11. There is a good crowd and only 4 employees who could be seen darting about nervously, clanging silverware and spilling drinks. Hurried to a recently bused table by 8:05. That seems promising. 8:25 Our server darts past us for the 4th time. This time I make eye contact with her. She takes our drink order. We order an appetizer and I point at each of the entrees my wife and I would like. As it seems the waitress is unfamiliar with both the English language and the menu. 8:45 our drinks arrive. 9:15 our entrees arrive. Our appetizer must have dies of old age and never made it to us. Our waters are refreshed. The food is an echo of the delicious dishes they once were. My drunken noodle is a single noodle covered in random mixed vegetables. My wife's Kapow fried rice is more like Meh Fried rice. 9:25 we have had all we can stand of the place. We order to go containers. Our containers arrive. We ask for the check. 9:45 A second waitress asks us how we are doing. We must appear strange staring at the oblivious wait staff while holding our to go containers for the last twenty minutes. We ask for the check again. We receive it, pay and exit the hell hole hoping to waive off any poor bastards who would want to walk in on our way out. This review would not have been posted. I was planning on sending an email to the ownership at Kapowgroup.com . To plead with them to undo the horrible changes that have happened to this place. However, the website has no email to contact them. Even under the CONTACT US portion of the site. I would call and rant but the staff at the Crofton Lemongrass seems to be unable to deal with customers that are in there store. I never saw a phone picked up the entire time I was there. IF YOU ONLY READ CAPS HERE IS THE SUMMARY: AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Going with the 3-stars on this - an average Thai experience overall. The spring rolls were right out of a package, basically. The chicken lettuce wraps were both good and lousy at the same time - flavored well, but lots of liquid in the chicken, and you just can't cut a head of iceberg in half and expect "wraps" to magically appear. Very messy. The crispy duck salad was tasty but a tad dry. The basil mussels were a little overcooked but the sauce was terrific, and the Pad Thai was very good indeed. Service was about par, and the atmosphere is surprisingly open, almost bar-like. There is a section of booths sort of hidden away in the back, which is nice if you'd like it a little more intimate.

A few weeks ago, I stopped in on a whim. Although it was busy, which I didn't expect from the location, my dining partner and I were seated very promptly. I ordered panang curry and the fried tofu appetizer, as well as a drink (alcoholic version of Thai iced coffee). The tofu and the drink showed up incredibly fast and both were well done. I must admit, that's one of the strongest drinks I've had in a very long time. The tofu was fresh and not oily, something that is fairly hard to find. While the panang curry was wonderful, my partner's dish was mind blowing. I wish I could remember what he ordered, but it smelled of star anise and was probably the best Thai food experience I've had since i moved to Maryland.

This was my first time going here (my husband's 4th time). The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful. She gave us suggestions on what to order. My husband took her advice and ordered the chicken ka pow. It was delicious. I unfortunately didn't take her advice and ordered the chicken pad thai which was not worth getting. We also got the chicken satay as our app and it was really good. I'm giving them 5 stars because the restaurant, service, and food was good (all restaurants have a few things on their menu not worth getting). Husband says the lad na is good too.

If you enter the word "disappointment" into the thesaurus website, you will see some synonyms like failure, mistake and... lemon. This is for real: thesaurus.reference.com/… It actually has the word "lemon" as a synonym... Maybe I should've consulted the thesaurus before I came to this terrible, horrible, disappointment of a restaurant that can be summed up by it's namesake of LEMONgrass on thesaurus.com : Main Entry: Failure Part of Speech: noun Definition: One that fails completely. Synonyms: bust, fiasco, loser, washout As soon as we walk in, we are greeted by the host, an early twenties chubby white college kid with a knit cap and no personality. He leads us to a table that is wobbling all over the place, so we move to a booth. Throughout our meal we see other patrons leave their tables and opt for the more stable booths as well. There are absolutely no people here of any ethnicity other than white Anglo-Saxon protestant, including the wait staff, the chef, and the patrons. Bad sign. Our server takes forever to come over and get our order. Me: Do you have guava juice? Server: What is guava juice? Me: Uhh can I just get a water? *no answer* Julian: Um can I also have a water? Server: Yeah OK. *walks away without taking appetizer order* Me: Excuse me! Can we order our appetizers please? *server looks annoyed, comes back* Server: What do you want? Me: I'll have the Larb Gai. Julian: I'll have summer rolls. Server: Do you want salmon in your summer rolls? Julian: ...what? Um no, just shrimp please. On the menu there is a "SPICY" icon next to the larb gai, so when it comes out with no other ingredients besides ground chicken, I get a little antsy. I smell it. It smells like ground chicken that's been sitting in grease. There are no onions, no chili peppers, nothing. I am in shock. I eat it with a frown. As you know, Julian ordered the summer rolls. Guess what comes out? Lettuce wraps. The server claims that's what Julian ordered. Holy crap. OK, no biggie Mr. Server, but how about you educate yourself on the menu items a little? They don't put a spoon on your table setting, so I had to ask for one. I also had to ask for an extra plate and rice, so I could at least eat this crap as if it was Thai food, even though it's about as close to Thai food as Olive Garden is to Italian food. Blech. I ordered Pad Pao Tag. My dish is described directly from the menu as "Combination of shrimp, scallops, squid, and mussels sauteed with lemongrass and basil in red chili paste. " You can see in the picture this is a blatant lie. There is absolutely no chili paste on my dish. There are a WHOPPING two scallops, two shrimp, a couple pieces of squid and five clam shells. I say clam SHELLS because all but one of them were EMPTY! yelp.com/biz_photos/X-Ba… Julian ordered chicken curry, and I guess they prepare their dishes strictly according to their title and not their description, because Julian got nothing but a soupy red mess with a few chunks of chicken in it. The menu description says "Choice of beef, pork, or chicken in red curry sauce with bamboo shoots and eggplant." There were zero bamboo shoots, no eggplant and the curry wasn't the least bit spicy. I'm not being picky; it was literally almost sweet! Not only that, but this menu item has a DOUBLE SPICY ICON!! It should at least have some peppercorns in it or diced chili peppers! Due to the lack of spiciness, I asked another frat boy server for a spice tray. He said "Sure, I'll get right on it." Lies! He turned over a table, poured some waters for another table, chatted up the bartender, wiped down another table with Windex, looked over at me glaring at him, and finally grabbed the spice tray. It was not worth the ten minute wait. The spices were made out of what Julian and I could only decide to be a ketchup and vinegar base, with almost no spice at all. Even after literally dumping the entire diced chili container on my rice, I didn't utter a single sniffle. This is all terrible, but what really threw me over the edge was when the manager came by, looked at our water glasses that had been empty for the past twenty minutes and asks, "Want more water?" I don't know about you, but where I come from water is free, and not only that, servers refill the glass when it's about half gone, no questions asked! I should not have to ask for a refill of my water, especially when there is no one else in their section! We had finished eating about twenty minutes when one of the servers came by to ask if we wanted dessert. I ask if they have green tea ice cream. No. I ask if they have mango sticky rice. No, but they have pineapple sticky rice. What the hell is pineapple sticky rice? It's mango sticky rice! No thanks to dessert and enjoy your $1 tip.

read the reviews, and saw Lemongraqss got only two stars. Went anyway, and am glad I did. Food was good...not spectacular, but good. Service was excellent. The coupon from restaurnat.com could be influencing my review, but I left there quite happy.

For the longest time I have been craving Pad Thai. Using the powers of yelp, I found Lemongrass and was SO looking forward to digging in. We went for a semi-early dinner on Saturday (6 ish) and were the only ones in the restaurant. This alone should have been our first sign that this meal wouldn't be all that great. The servers all were congregating around the bar clearly having too much fun to actually fill our water classes. We each got an order of Pad Thai and it was completely mediocre. Major disappointment... I have heard that the Lemongrass in downtown Annapolis is much better.
(2)David T.
Sorry Lemongrass but I'm taking a few stars away. You've become too inconsistent with the dishes. Two of which I ordered last night were missing ingredients. What's going on? Tell your chef to check out Wikipedia to discover what goes in Massaman curry. Or how about your menu which states it will contain: Yellow curry with tomato, coconut milk, tamarind, and chicken with potato and peanuts. Mine had the curry and chicken.
(2)Angelica E.
I've been there last weekend. I was really satisfied both food and service I dunno why most people complain about it. I would definitely tell you to try there. It's a really nice restaurant and one more thing I like is the decoration of Lemongrass which is really represent Thai as I'm half Thai. So you should try it yourself
(5)Jeff B.
Went back and and the quality of the food changed my opinion of lemongrass....case in point, my fried rice portion was a wee bit small, and my wife's Tofu Pad Thai tasted like fish...uggh. Has there been a change in the kitchen? I don't think we'll be going back.
(1)Joyce P.
We got 3 take-out orders from the Crofton Lemongrass - one vegetarian, one pork, and a sweet and sour crispy chicken. All 3 were excellent. We'll definitely try them again.
(5)Tracy R.
Was a frequent visitor before but now the atmsophere has changed and those huge cats sitting at the entry way are not very welcoming at all. New management means a change in the menu and the friendlliness that you once felt is now gone
(1)Jim G.
Awful,no better description. Can you imagine asking what's in a certain dish and hearing,"I have no idea, let me ask someone " someone didn't know either. The bartender didn't walk 5 feet to the table but put the drinks on the bar to retrieve . Stay away, in fact run away. Under new ownership,I give it 3 months till its gone for good.

Oh where do I start with this place. If you really dislike your Palate, sure-thing enjoy. We started with the Crispy spring roll which are clearly the same ones you get in a big bag at Costco. but here you pay $5 for 3peice middle finger size roll. I would say it taste horrible, but it had no taste at all. then i followed with the Crab Fried Rice, ( if you have ever seen or smell bad rice when it starts to get that water in it). sloop. If you respect your Palate, you will be disappointed.

upon surfing the local clipper magazine, I found three coupons, one of which was a buy one entree-get one free. I talked to the room mate (he) and we decided- why not? Got there around five, just in time for the happy hour to start (5-7 half priced apps.) we saved the coupon and decided to do apps instead. we got the chicken lettuce wraps. he says- good... and he finished them. she (me) says- ugh, not for me. I didn't like the flavor. I like my work's lettuce wraps better. battered and fried green beans- he says- oh wow. that IS good. she says- OH WOW they really are better than my green beans at my work!! highly recommended. fried calamari- he- didn't try she says- very yummy. he didn't try them because I ate them all. it's ok, he got the lettuce wraps. total bill was $12. great value. next time we will have to sit at a table and I'll have to try something with green or yellow curry... I keep hearing it's all the rage with my regulars. until then.... great bar service. great happy hour food. in and out, good and cheap... just the way I like it.
(4)Jeanne Y.
Looks nice but alas the food is mediocre at best. As with other Americanized Asian restaurants, the focus is on decor and looks rather than taste. The food is mostly bland as if the.chef believed the old myth that Americans eschew spices.
(2)Ariana T.
So far, I love everything about this restaurant. I am kind of shocked about the negative reviews, to be honest. The staff: Fun, easy to joke around with, not pushy, and completely friendly and willing to chat you up. They never make you feel rushed even toward closing time or well after the kitchen has shut down. The atmosphere: Nice flow to the restaurant, good lighting, very mellow. The prices: Not the greatest for standard menu prices if you're on a budget but if you get a coupon or you get one of their specials, it's a GREAT deal. The food: They have awesome curries. The green curry is a particular specialty. I have had 3 different noodle dishes and none of them were a disappointment. They have a great peanut sauce recipe too. The thai iced teas are delicious and taste identical to the ones you get from street vendors in Thailand where they give it to you in a plastic bag. Every single time I have been there the servers have been great. They aren't rude and they know all the dishes inside and out. When I get the rest of my meal to go they always ask me if I want them to put more rice in to take home. Additionally, they make *awesome* thai iced teas (Ok, I might be obsessed) and will make them up for you as you leave so you can enjoy it at home. On my birthday we picked up carry-out and when my boyfriend mentioned it was my birthday the server ringing me up stopped in his tracks and told me I had to pick a dessert because it was free! If you gave this place a try and didn't like it, you should go back. You must have had some random freak experience that was not the norm. From what I hear they also have a pretty great happy hour. They're packed on Saturday nights but you should definitely give them a shot on a weekday if you are someone who likes to get more personalized service and a quieter setting. It's a great localized chain that serves quality food. If you visit their website, it's owned/operated by the same people who own Tsunami in Annapolis. Support your local restaurants!
(5)Angela M.
What a nice treat from the typical "oh-so-chainy"/shit-hole restaurants. I hope this chain doesn't go in that direction. You get where I'm going.... the Fridays, Applebees, Ruby Tuesdays, Chili's of the world that can only seem to get a burger right! After going through my coupon stack and realizing that there were none to be had for any places I was in the mood for (after way too many dining out experiences lately and a gigantic bill to fix my car, coupons are being looked at much more closely in this household). Going through the mail today I so timely found the Lemongrass coupon on the back of the "Clipper" mag (for buy 1 get 1 free lunch or dinner)... um, yeah this definitely calls for another LG visit before April 1 when they expire- as Cheapy McCheap is in the house now. We arrived at about 7:30ish last night, Friday, and had to wait 10-15 minutes. Not bad. I quickly ordered a normal (ginger) mojito, after a week from heaven, there was no time to waste. We also got an app of fried string beans... super delish! Our entrees were chicken pad thai for my bf and shrimp pad woonsen for me. Both entrees were on the smaller side, but very good. That only means that I didn't leave feeling like I just ate a cow- which is how I often feel leaving a restaurant. I ordered another mojito, this time the citrus flavor- per the server's recommendation. It was awesome. I think I might prefer that to the original- but it's slightly sweeter (I found the normal one to be less sweet than your avg mojito). The bill was about $65 before tip. This includes: 1 app, 2 blue moons, 2 entrees, and 2 mojitos. Our server was very good. Most of the host/wait staff seamed young enough for me to be their parent... and I'm not even 30 yet. But, they were quite good and and very helpful, which works in my book. The bar was hoppin' too, I guess many people just go there and sit in the bar. I'd go back for a couple mojitos and some cozy atmosphere. Lastly- I was pleasantly surprised by this new local. It's 4 x's the size from their downtown Annapolis location. The outside of this place doesn't leave any clues as to what the inside is like (their sign isn't even lit up and we had a somewhat hard time finding it immediately), but the inside is super-cozy and nice decor! Check it out. Esp you Bowie/Crofton folk that think Thai is scary and weird (I mean 1/2 of my friends and family). I do think you will be pleasantly surprised.
(4)Nicolle M.
Having discovered Lemongrass in Annapolis, I was sooooooo happy when I they opened the location closer to me in Crofton. Because I'm a regular and usually sit at the bar, service has been fine. I have my favorite dishes that if Pete is there, I KNOW I'll be taken care of. I have experienced some inconsistency with my dishes. I fear that not too many people know about this location because it's rarely busy. They def need to advertise/billboard on Rt. 301/Rt. 3. I keep going back but they def can improve in some areas.
(3)KT L.
In general, my husband and I enjoyed our food. However, the atmosphere at the Crofton Lemongrass is abysmal at best. The tables are so close together, you may as well share dishes with your neighbors. The servers don't really seem to care about their customers, or their jobs for that matter. I highly doubt we'll be dining here again.
(2)Patrick H.
After numerous visits to the new Lemongrass in Crofton, I just want to report that they have truly hit their stride and ensconced themselves as one of the better restaurants in the Crofton/Bowie area. Favorite dishes include: Shrimp Ka Pow, Crispy duck Salad, fried green beans, Mussels and Panang Curry. They definitely hold up to their other locations!
(4)Stan P.
After seeing the Lemongrass name in Crofton (absolutely love the one in Annapolis) my wife and I were eager to give it a try. The reseraunt was and is very well decorated with Thai touches, having been converted from a former Chinese resteraunt. The food was ok the first time we went; certainly nothing like the great food in Annapolis. We decided to give it more tries over the months as it is so near to where we live (Piney Orchard). But each time, we were more and more disappointed in both the quality of the food and the slowness of the wait staff. It seemed the more we wnet, the worse things got until finally we called it quits on Lemongrass in Crofton. No one single thing killed it for us but a progressive decline was evident. If you want to take someone to a great Thai resteraunt near Odenton, take them to Bangkok Kitchen. While it doesn't have Lemongrass' decor, it has much better food and a prompt and efficient staff. If you want to take someone to a pretty Thai resteraunt who may not know good Thai food from any Asian food, take them to Lemongrass. You'll just have to wait for every dish.
(2)Kristy C.
Not the best soups or appetizers. The entrees were a bit better, but overall the service and food were not up to par with other Thai I've had.
(2)Jen P.
I have been a long time fan of Lemongrass since they opened on West St. When I heard they were putting one in Crofton, I was ecstatic. However, they need to step it up. Portions are way smaller and to be honest, not as good. I know the original kitchen on west street was being run by an actual Thai family..what a difference it makes apparently. One of my favorite appetizers is the calamari, for the tempura batter. Yet at Crofton, it's basically frozen calamari you could buy at the grocery. Not to mention it's half the size. The service is great, never had a problem with that, I just wish they could put more effort in the quality of the food. Such a bummer.
(2)Jen S.
Today my husband and I stopped in for a brief lunch to go on our way back from work. We didn't plan on going back to lemongrass after the last visit (food was nothing to write home about) but I was really hungry and it was right there on our way home. We ordered lemongrass noodles with chicken, yellow curry, and Thai style sticky rice. We even specifically told them "not the sticky rice dessert, just the plain white rice that sticks together". We get home, open the bag and are absolutely disappointed from the beginning. There in the bag was sticky rice dessert and then my husband's lunch was completely wrong. They gave him some noodle dish with seafood instead of lemongrass chicken. I called the restaurant and our server (the young lady) was very nice. BUT the owner was a real jerk in the background and basically blamed us for the food being wrong. He said that lemongrass noodles with chicken always come with seafood unless you ask for them to be removed. Then he said that there is no such thing as sticky rice that isn't dessert. The waitress asked if we wanted to come back in to get the right food and I said "no, but please tell the owner we aren't coming back. This was the 3rd time they screwed up our meal, so 3 strikes you're out." Worst Thai ever. Do NOT waste your time!!!!!!
(1)Sam H.
The food is really good. Service can be slow.
(4)Tracy A.
After vowing to never return to Lemongrass in Crofton, we decided to give it one more chance when we heard it was under new management. Called for takeout and server explained to me 3x how busy they were, I mistakenly took this as a good sign. When arriving to pick up was surprised to see the dining room near empty. How did it clear out in 15-20 minutes? Order was simple soup and appetizers, after past experiences there decided to tread slowly. Food was near inedible, I cannot believe that they can remain in business. I guess we will have to wait until Silver Spring Thai opens in the new Waugh Chapel development, or drive to Baltimore or DC.
(1)Daryll H.
Pretty standard. If coming from the north on route 3, though, the wait at the left turn basically makes the entire experience horrible, though. 10+ minutes to make a left turn? wtf?
(3)Robyn W.
We just moved from DC and have yet found a good Thai place....we are not picky eaters, either!! We ordered pad thai, pad see ew, and cashew chicken. Didnt know pad thai could be ruined until I moved to this area, actually....it is our second experience of Asian food and both times, our pad thai has been AWFUL. No taste, no sauce, so not impresed! The pad see ew was ok...but not great, as was the cashew chicken. Where does one go for good pad thai in this area???????
(1)Marina A.
I have been to Lemongras about three or four times now and enjoy the atmosphere and service but feel they are hit or miss at times and they serve very small portions for the money.
(2)beth u.
I am so glad Lemongrass came to Crofton! We usually get take out on Fridays and it is delicious and always ready in 15-20 minutes. The decor in the restaurant is very relaxed-modern-asian. There is even outdoor seating when the weather is nice. The bar area is quite large and would be a good place to go with friends. Agree that some of the entres are a bit small for the price. But the noodle-based entres give you quite a lot.
(4)Peter S.
I went their for some relaxation and ambiance along with my food. Oy, they were playing acid rock. I asked the server if they wouldn't mind toning it down. We got Led Zeppelin. Don't get me wrong, I like Led Zeppelin, but not when I am trying to wind down after a hectic week. It was like the parents were out and the kids were running the store. I won't go back.
(1)Jessica P.
The food is really good here but, don't expect friendly service. Upon arriving the staff was more into talking amongst themselves than seating the large group behind us and my friend and I. This was my friends first experience at going to Lemongrass so, we got seated and the waiter didn't even ask for our drink order he was rushing us to put our order in and we had not even sat down for 5 minutes and they were not even busy at that time. So, we told him we needed a minute so, he came back in 5 and we ordered. Our food came out fast but, my friend and I were talking and catching up for 20 minutes after the food dropped on the table and the waiter came back and asked if we were finished and took my plate. So we paid the check and I am a good tipper usually and tip atleast 25% but, I was so dissapointed and the waiter was so rude that I left him 15%. I still go to Lemongrass for it's food, I just do carry-out now.
(3)Mark S.
Great food! I can't say enough about the food. My only gripe is the service. I practically had to flag my server down for another drink and then to pay.
(4)kathy p.
I have to give this place some credit for the atmosphere..but other then them..everything is not the GREAT. the portions are TOO small..and the waitress and waiter are so rude...when i arrive there, there wasn't a host to serve us. then when i got seated to the table, the waiter didn't ask us if we want anything to drink..he just serve us waters. when are half way done with our food, the waiter came to our table and say..."oh your done, let me take your plates",,,* my friend had a fork in her hands and she have half of the food on the plate* it seem like they was trying to rush us out of the store..it's wasn't like their going to close,,because it was only 3 pm in the afternoon...so disappointed..the top that,,,they had chinese people cooking there..i think i know chinese language becasue my friends are chinese, this is suppose to be a authentic THAI,,,not chinese.restaurant .

Just like all good restaurant reviewers I go back to a place to really get a feel for it. So on a Sunday night (with another couple) after bowling a few games I go back. Its busy for 7:30 on a Sunday night. I ask the waiter if he recommended either of the two dishes I suggested and he said neither to something else. And I told him that I was a wimp and didn't like extremely hot food, he tell me he can get the kitchen to make it milder without all the chile. Great, I think. I'lll try a new dish. Whoa, it was so hot. Either he didn't tell the kitchen, or they forgot. So he never came around to check on our dishes, and thus I didn't have the opportunity to tell him how bloody hot it was. Only when he dropped off the check did I have an opportunity to tell him. He offered me more rice to take the rest home. I really think he should have taken the dish off of the check. I couldn't eat much of it because it was too bloody hot. So I felt second time around, the service was lacking. Lemongrass has a great looking staff, but not too good on the customer service. My guests all liked their food. And they do a nice Panang Curry also.
(3)Carl H.
Excellent food, esp. the nicely spicy green curry. Yum.
(4)Rae M.
I've eaten at the sister restaurant (Lemongrass Too) in Annapolis once before, so I thought I should try the original. Located in a strip mall of sorts in Crofton, Lemongrass serves authentic modern Thai cuisine. My groupon was due to expire in a few days and since they only accept them Mon-Thurs, I was forced to stop by on a early Thursday evening, or forfeit the value of my groupon. The restaurant was completely empty when we arrived. It was so empty, I actually had to think twice if I wanted to stay there. Nevertheless, a very nice server greeted us and sat us down immediately. Plenty of Asian decor was strategically placed throughout the restaurant, along with a few fish tanks. The restaurant was clean and neat, but it could stand to get a face-lift because it looks a bit dated. We placed our order and in a matter of moments, our food was brought to our table. We ordered spring rolls, crab fried rice, veggie fried rice and drunken noodles. All of the food was really good, especially the drunken noodles and fried rice dishes! I appreciate the fact that the fried rice dishes weren't greasy or overly cooked. The spring rolls were just okay, I've had better. As we ate, more and more people started to trickle in. Our server checked on us several times and was available for refills. All and all, I'm really glad we didn't let the emptiness of the restaurant deter us from staying. Delicious food, great service and a wonderful experience.
(4)Nancy A.
We were the only people in the place from 630 to about 715 on a Thursday night for dinner. We tried the crispy string beans as an appetizer. They were very greasy and had a weird sauce... I had the spicy eggplant and my bf had the pad sie uw. So so salty, all of it. The eggplant was fried and breaded. My bf commented that he thought the beef in his meal was defrosted recently. Gosh, I really wanted to like this place.
(3)Sharon C.
I'm all for energy conservation but the place was dimly lit during afternoon hours. I was surprised that they offer gift certificates but automatically charge 18% when redeeming them. I'm not in love with that concept. Fighting a cold, I originally went in for soup before visiting the hair salon next door. I opted for the minced chicken lettuce wraps. I am used to having the chicken warm but this time it was cold. Nevertheless, all items were fresh and flavorful without any of the ingredients being overpowering. I was surprised that there was no one in the place. I chalked it up to the snow. From all appearances, the areas were clean and the young lady who took my order was helpful and pleasant. I think I'll give them another go and get deeper in the menu.
(3)Janet C.
This place was good. I am not familiar with the former owners so I have nothing to compare it to. My husband loved the Larb and the yellow curry was good. We both enjoyed the pad Thai. And we both really liked the crispy green beans. I could eat a whole plate of crispy green beans myself if given the chance! A little pricey but I have yet to find a Thai place that isn't pricey.
(4)T K.
We have been there a few times, service and food are consistent. Funny part about 2 years ago, we were going to Thailand for a trip, I was very looking forward for real Thai food. I was logging for "real" Lad Na-- food I ate many years ago in Thailand. So I ordered it, I have ordered the same dish many other places, I was disappointed here as well. it is NOT the same. We were chucking with each other. Food at restaurants in Bangkok were too sweet in taste. Street foods there were cheap and excellent. Guess what we ended up coming back here again. Are we americanized? I dunno. There is another store in Arlington the same name. I like that store too. I am sure it is NOT related. So if you want to try "Authentic" Thai food, try this place. you will not be disappointed.
(4)Ilissa M.
Ok. 1. It was like $45 for both of us with tip included. We had one Green Papaya Salad hold the shrimp which they substituted for lettuce, one order of spring rolls, and two Vegetable fried rice hold the eggs. With water. 2. the tip is already included in the check at 15% and it was just 2 of us eating on a Thursday afternoon. The place is gigantic and it is clean and nice, although a bit old fashioned but nevertheless very nice. 3. The entree size is a good amount no not good it is very nice. I mean we had the place to ourselves. It was Thursday afternoon. 4. Authentic Thai taste( well as authentic as can be a Thai place in Md. ) Would we come back? No, not really. We are Vegans and we were missing some Thai food and decided to try this place out and even though the food was as authentic Thai as could be it still was missing something and for the way we eat it had to much oil. Also it is on the pricier side.
(4)Yun C.
This is a review for last year in October. I feel bad for not giving a good review but the food is not all that great. We got a drink and it had a spider in it, they were able to replace the drink but that left a bad impression on us. The place is outdated and almost empty, barely any customers in there. Food is expensive for the quality you get, not worth it at all however the servers were nice but it's not enough for us to come back or recommend to others.
(2)D F.
Really good thai food, the drunken noodles with chicken (ask for extra spicy) is fantastic. The service there is really slow though, so we only get take out now. Pretty reliable and prompt 10-15 minute turn around time from call to pickup which is nice. There was a management shift a while ago. Prior to that, the service was unbearably slow. You could be the only person in the restaurant and it still takes 45 minutes to get out of there. It's better with the new folks but still not exactly quick.
