Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

Stay away! Greasy dead cat! This place is horrible! Don't even think about this one!

Its more of a take out place they have like 2 tables with with newspapers scatter all over them. There is really nothing special about this place. No thank you.

Awful parking in this lot. Be ware in peak hours. Delivery took over an hour and I'm maybe a mile away...if that. I was charged for hot oil. I was charged for a TSP worth of hot oil. It's not my fault American Chinese restaurants don't understand that I want spicy. I am American but I can handle it! Never again!

Has been a steady staple of our family for a decade. If you keep the ball on the fairway and don't try and get to fancy, this place is consistently solid.

I don't know if they changed their cook or are under new management but the food as gone from great to gross in a matter of months. Our past three orders have consisted of dry, over-cooked chicken, undercooked rice, and excessively greasy egg/spring rolls. Their delivery times have been inconsistent - 20 minutes to over an hour. We will not be ordering from this restaurant again. Damn shame.

Hit or miss delivery. The General Tso's can be the best I've ever had, or the worst. Often times, it is quite tough (like its been under a heat lamp for hours). I've thrown out entire containers of inedible food enough times for me to stop patronizing this place. Truly unfortunate, because when it's good, it's REALLY good.

This place is great - the food is good, and the customer service is even better. Tracey is extremely helpful and friendly. Check it out.

Thank God this place exists, or I'm convinced the Annapolis area would be devoid of a decent take-out place. There are a few dine-in restaurants here, but when it comes to strictly take-out, Hunan Express is legit. How legit? Let's put it this way: we moved away from the Crofton area in January and still get food from this place because in my opinion, it's worth the 30 minute drive. My wife and I order here all the time, and I'm just now reviewing them (because I had some Chinese food that was so bad I had to review it, and I need to cleanse my soul after writing a one-star review). Our typical order includes the kung pao chicken combination (with wonton soup, chicken fried rice, and an egg roll), orange or Hunan chicken, and some sort of shrimp item (usually lo mein or Singapore noodles). The food is delicious, the Hunan style cuisine is authentic as it gets, and the variety is enjoyable. The only complaints I may have about the food are minor: carrots and celery do not belong in kung pao chicken, there's not nearly enough meat in the hunan style dishes, and the orange chicken is often a bit too crunchy for the average human. Also, the lemon chicken and sweet and sour chicken are nothing to write home about: it's just deep fried balls of breaded chicken with some mediocre sauce to dip them in. But honestly, even with all the filler, the kung pao chicken dish contains so much meat, it's absurd to think that one person could ever eat it all in one sitting, especially with rice. The same could be said of the orange chicken, which has some excellent sauce. Their wonton soup is quite amazing, and it satisfies my picky wife (picky about soup, that is) and reminds her of our favorite soup restaurant in Hong Kong. One thing to note: if you're looking for spicy food, this is not your place. But I've also never asked them to kick it up a notch, so perhaps that could be arranged if a spicy dish is something you crave. Another great thing about this place is their prices. They are very reasonable, especially for the huge portion sizes, and their website boasts coupons that you can use every time you come in. Other perks include an intelligible and pleasant phone operator, a convenient web order form, and speedy service for such a busy restaurant. I'd recommend this place to anyone in the area.

Food was below average (fried crab rangoons was chewy, egg rolls nasty), customer service was terrible, and took over an hour to deliver only 1.3 miles away. I won't return.

I'm being extra generous by giving this place four stars, especially when Chinese take-out places seem to be all the same. But it's the little differences that make this joint a consistent favorite among the sea of others in the Bowie/Crofton/Odenton area. First, the girl working the counter is always pleasant, whether you're ordering by phone or taking it to go. I've even eaten in the little front waiting area, just sat down and went at a carton of lo mein. She chatted me up and recognized me the next time I walked in. Second, the portions are HUGE. The dinner specials are redonk. It's like 5lbs of food plus a pint of soup. Lastly, the food is great. Granted, I really only eat the veggie or shrimp options so I can't speak for the whole menu. But for me, the hot 'n sour soup is always the deciding factor. Some places it's all tofu and mushrooms (meh, more bean sprouts, plz). Some places its neither hot nor sour. At Hunan Express it's like the perfect ratio of all the ingredients plus extra sour. Ask for it extra hot and you'll find a dried pepper floating on top. Me likey! And the lo mein is never dry. The last time I ordered from Hunan L'Rose I was very disappointed. So if you ever get a craving to order Chinese take-out and sit and watch t.v. with your honey while sipping beer (which I do, quite frequently), I highly recommend Hunan Express. And the delivery is super fast!

We ordered two meals from Hunan Express and both were fantastic! I let the nice lady behind the counter know that we had never ordered from them before, and she recommended two dinners for us. We ordered the Schezwan (sp?) delight with brown sauce and the chicken broccoli. One came with hot and sour soup, the other was egg drop soup. It was a lot of food for our family of 5. My kids ate it and raved about it. We had leftovers that were just as good heated up. I'm not sure what the other bad reviews were for. Maybe we just got them on a really good day, but we are definitely going back. I have to agree with another reviewer that they have the best hot and sour soup I have ever had.

So everything was good until about 30 minutes into our meal ( delivery) and then my wife found a pretty big piece of metal in her food. Looks like it came off a cleaning scrubber. Looks like a wire or something.

Love their Beef sticks. I also order Beef Fried Rice and the meat is very tender! I work in Crofton and this is my place to go now

Every time i order food here they have a different price for Peking duck, I have 3 menus with 3 different prices, today it is 3 dollars more than they list. Plus the asian people never give me napkins and are rude at customer service. To them Americans sound like dogs, so i guess they assume we eat like dogs too.
(1)Angela R.
Workers are rude, don't use pleasantries or speak proper English. While I like just one meal from that place, the rest is nasty and greasy. Whenever I eat there it is followed by a horrible headache the next day. Must be MSG they use in their food. So beware, it's harmful to your health.

They have really good lunch specials and are generous with their portion size. I would have liked the fried rice that came with my general Tso to include vegetables but it was still good.
(4)Lily V.
I love the crab rangoon and general tso chicken! Great prices and pretty quick delivery! We order out from here a lot, and I've never been disappointed. Everyone I've spoken to have been very polite and professional.

My husband and I just moved to Crofton from Annapolis. While we are not huge fans of the Chinese food in this area, Hunan Express has proved to be a great place to get take out in the Crofton Area. Also, the gal who answers the phone is easy to understand and our food always seems fresh!

Dingy, dirty atmosphere, inattentive, inaccurate service, greasy, poorly-prepared thrown-together imitations of American Chinese food all add up to one thing: stay away.

I gave this tiny little take-out restaurant four stars based on three things: service, prices and food (of course). This place is located next to the Giant in Crofton Station, and easy to miss if you don't keep your eyes peeled. I usually call for a delivery but was on my way home from work one night and decided to stop by. The restaurant is a kitchen, a counter, four tables and two extra chairs stuffed into a small space. It honestly looks a little dingy when you walk in, and was awkwardly quiet except for the two people actually sitting at a table enjoying their dinner. Weird. Their food though...it's good. Well, I'm not a Chinese food connoisseur or anything, but I think their chicken and broccoli is the best chicken and broccoli I've found so far, save the nicer Chinese establishments. We're talking cheap, quick, take-out here, people. And yes, it is a little greasy, but what Chinese food isn't? A small chicken and broccoli, small hot and sour soup and some crab rangoon is about 12 bucks, which sounds pretty good to me, and each time I've called for a delivery they've made it to the house in about 20 minutes. As far as stopping in and placing a take-out order, I didn't sit and wait for more than ten minutes for my food.

Wow, I can't believe I found good Chinese food that delivers. I had the all-white meat General Tso's Chicken and it was great!
