It's a bar that serves food. We went for the drag brunch, and while the entertainment was fantastic, and the servers were great. The food is only OK. This is a neighborhood place that specializes in making people feel welcome, serving some drinks, and occasionally some entertainment. If you live near here, it's a great place for a local hang-out, but not someplace you make a trek to have a great meal. But for the drag brunch, I would certainly go again!

I was invited here on a date last year. It's a small neighborhood pub with a band and decent fare. I can say that I was impressed but I definitely was not disappointed. The waitress, and I wish I remembered her name, was very friendly and honest. I felt very taken care of. My issue: kids. Why are there children at a bar? It was weird and I was uncomfortable and didn't expect them there. I would consider going back if children weren't allowed past 7p. They should be in bed and NOT at a bar. Also if the band played popular music and in turn, lured people to dance, I would be there!

This probably would be my first yelp review about a bar and first time being at a bar since 7-8 years ago... I'm not a drinker I drank years ago just for an experiment after I turned 21, My roommate had an argument over something small with his wife so in order to calm him down I asked him lets hang out to the nearby bar, so thats how I ended up to come here but in order to keep him company I ordered apple martini it took me over half an hour to finish it up! Haha The bartenders here are pretty fast and friendly, behind the is clean, customers in the bar are are cool and nice, Actually I made couple of friends by talking to the people in the bar, I def will visit again in case my roommate got in an argument with his wife next time! lol I was j/k

This is THE hometown bar! The place where everyone knows your name. It is a small, cozy place with a lot of different things happening each night. Live bands, Trivia, Comedy and even, sorry to say Karaoke. The decor is a miss match of ever holiday with entrancing weirdness and interesting art. Think of it as your college dorm room on crack! Great beer selection that is ever changing. Awesome food, I highly recommend the Pork Nachos if they are on the menu when you are there. The burgers are great and the custom grilled cheese rocks. Staff is friendly and even delightfully rude(in a good way) once they know you. Since I moved to Columbia from Fairfax, Va there hasn't been that local hometown bar that I had had back in Fairfax until I found 2nd Chance.

Felt the need to bring this place down a notch. Not because it's bad, but needed to lower expectations from its 5 star rating. It has a cozy neighborhood bar atmosphere with a pinball table in the corner and local art on the walls. Nice beer list with reasonable prices. Food was alright but nothing special. Thought the fries were pretty good, but the crab cake sandwich was so/so. Service was really friendly but a little spacey. Overall, this place is a decent joint to grab a beer and have some average bar food. We were going to Columbia for a concert and it didn't seem like there were that many other options so this is probably a pretty good pre-concert spot.

Second Chance is my regular watering hole and I will tell you the many many times I have been there it has never disappointed. The service and bar staff are great. The food is really good, and I have met some of the best people on the planet at that bar. If you are looking for a hidden gem in Columbia-- Second Chance is a sure bet.

Great place to enjoy good drinks and good food while playing pool. There's a nice outdoor patio as well.

Here is the thing about this place, you really have to pick the right night to go here. Like many others said they have a great beer selection and I've yet to have anything off the menu that's really bad. If you happen to show up after happy hour it is ridiculously expensive for what you get. 2 beers one mixed drink, an appetizer and 1 entree was around $40. We went on karaoke night and the crowd was best described as a centrum silver mixer, with very loud middle aged to older people singing really awful 70's music. Some people may like that but personally it just was not for me. The neighborhood is terrible and the service was incredibly slow as well. I've been here before on a weeknight for happy hour and found it comfortable and much cheaper. It seems very hit or miss. Don't get me wrong, I do like loud fun bars, but this place is much better suited to be a low key place.

What can you say, but this is a wonderful neighborhood throwback saloon. Good happy hour specials, solid American/Maryland food offerings. Highly recommend the MD crab soup and the Old Bay Wings. This is a very laid back place and just feels comfortable as soon as you walk in. In addition to pool tables and darts, Second Chance offers a regular run of good music. What more could you ask for?

Nice Local Bar and Restaurant. The food is good, and fresh and there is a wide variety of beer selections. Even has several vegetarian options on the menu! Good place to come hang out in Columbia, has 2 pool tables and a few other games as well.

I have been coming to this spot off and on since it was the Last Chance . I was happy to see it has been reopened and I went today for lunch. The chili and crab cake sliders hit the spot. They have a calendar including nightly happy hours, open mike night and trivia night in addition to the sports on tv. Seems like a good neighborhood spot

This place is an awesome place to take some friends, play corn hole and enjoy some drinks. Sonny, the bartender, makes ABSOLUTELY THE MOST AMAZING bloody Mary I have ever had. He accommodates to how spicy/not spicy you want it, and he recently started putting BACON, yes bacon, in it. He's really friendly and the drinks, (especially during happy hour), are very cheap. We go every Thursday night for karaoke!

This it a great little dive bar in a strip mall. Good happy hour. Half price burgers on Tuesday 5-10 are a good bargain. Try the old bay wings they are awesome! Kev the bartender pours a stiff drink and is a funny cat!

Well I am partial - it is my neighborhood bar! It is a friendly atmosphere, the staff is great, I always end up connecting with someone new and have great conversations. The food and menu is also excellent as well as the beer selection. It is a truly "Cheers" like place. The only caveat - it is a bit pricier than other local bars like the Green Turtle in Columbia.

Firstly, I hate Columbia and the burbs and judge everything harshly. That being said, I like the hell out of this bar because it's so schizophrenic. My last bout here offered both hilarity and relaxation and the bar tender, though he obviously didn't care much, was still decent on a personal level and a good time to chat with. I decided to get drunk before Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter, I felt it would improve the quality of the movie so I wandered into this joint based purely on the name and proximity. It was nearly vacant aside form four obvious regulars, a couple/first-date tucked into a corner, and a ton of hilarious come-and-goes. The bartender was chatty with the regs so I listened in and it was all worthwhile. Typical stories from heavy drinkers. Long story short The bartender certainly helped me achieve my goal once I told him why I was there and he did so with zeal. We talked about beer, they have some pretty decent beers there, and we talked about whiskey. A very stuffy fellow entered and ordered a glass of water and wine in a very rushed manner, stating he needed to get back on his motorcycle to ride home...which was like blocks away. While the bartender was pouring his drink I asked about their bourbons and the sweaty old suburban dude snapped, "Can I get that drink now please, it's getting dark and I'm very parched". I am 100% sure 80 years ago this guy would have rode in from fox hunting with a monocle and petticoat on and sipped his fine spirits with his pinky up. Once the guy left we made fun of him and I liked that. The bartender had a good sense of humor about the breadth of his clientele. There were several other interesting folks that showed up, all of them chatty enough for interesting conversation. The place seemed half decent with half decent people. Ok, totally uninteresting story. The skinny: -Decent atmosphere and not stuffy at all. -They have Victory Golden Monkey on tap, SCOOORREE! -The food was decent. I had some hot wings, not that hot for hot sauce nerds, but good. -It's dark and there is a good amount of space. I'll re-up this once I've been back a few times.

This place is a regular spot for my friends from work and I have tagged along with them on several occasions. This bar can be a little empty sometimes but whether there are 50 people or just you and the bar tender, you are always in good company. The staff and regulars here are very friendly, they have a great beer selection, and with karaoke night, trivia night, ladies night, and live music night, there is always fun to be had. Another great thing about this place is there is a spot for everyone, whether you prefer to sit at the bar or in a quiet back room. I can't speak to how the food is, but the drinks and good company alone are reason enough to give this place a try. Specials: Mondays- Free Trivia Tuesdays- 1/2 Price Burgers Wednesdays- $2 Pints (Boh, Miller Light, Yuengling) Thursdays- Happy Hour Open to Close and Karaoke with DJ Dean Friday- Live Music and $2 House Shooters

Hadn't been here in quite some time, and we decided to give it a go for the half price burgers tonight. The beer options are quite a treat, and both my husband and I tried a couple of new and unusual brews that were good. Burgers were also very worthwhile. So why the less-than-stellar review? Service. Got there at 7, and the amount of time we saw and were waited on by our server in the 2 hours we spent there was minimal, and truly unacceptable. Took 10 minutes before we saw anyone even waiting on tables (I had to lurk around to try to figure out if I needed go to the bar to let someone know we were in the dining room- in spite of the fact there were other tables in the dining area!). When we finally saw our server and she brought us menus, it was another 10-15 minutes before she remembered to bring a kids menu. Everything from here on took the same extended amount of time: time to get drinks, food, etcetera. All told- a 2 hour event by the time we left, and I wound up bringing our check to the bartender because we couldn't even pay quickly! But the final kicker? Our waitress accidentally brought an extra beer to our table we hadn't ordered. I asked who it was for, and she was baffled saying she must have accidentally picked it up and dropped it off. Didn't say or do anything else, and she came back later (it was untouched) and told us she gave it to is instead of the intended table. Her screw up, right? Why did we get charged for it? I have never had someone screw up and charge the customer for it. My husband, being the nice guy he is, didn't want to press it, and because we'd already wasted too much time there, I didn't either, but in my opinion, this was the icing on a crapoy service situation. Not sure I will return. They clearly need better and more attentive service, and far better training on customer service. A shame since the food was decent and the beer selection was great...

A friend's musical duo was playing there on Saturday, so I decided to drop in with the wife to check out this place. Did not have high expectations for a place located in a shopping center with a Food Lion. Walked in and was surprised. The crowd wasn't very large but I believe that was due to the snow. Their menu looked decent even though we didn't order any food. Drink selection was decent, too. The bar area had plenty of tables and there appeared to be two other separate areas, one with pool tables and darts. Place was decorated with lots of Caps stuff and a few Ravens. Plenty of televisions displaying sports games. The crowd that was there looked to be in the 30-45 age range. There were a couple of 20-somethings at the bar. Nobody appeared trashy or stuffy, though there was one guy that was hammered out of his mind. He behaved though and just sang along loudly with the band. Staff seemed on-point and nice. Will definitely give this place a second chance and try out their other offerings.

Awesome little hidden gem! Fun atmosphere, great beer selection, pool tables, live music, and a patio! Saturday nights are the best time to go, ask for Chenslee!

The prices are good. The beer isnt always as cold as it should be. The wings some times seem over cooked and dry, like they are cooked multiple times. Burgers are ok. Service was always good.

This is bar is a true Columbia Gem! A "hole in the wall" type bar, but offers great drinks and homemade food. This is by no means is a fancy place but if you are looking for great bar food then I would highly recommend giving them a try! Most recently my husband and I went in on a saturday evening for some drinks, dinner and to watch the O's game! Our waiter was friendly and personable, making light conversation. We ordered the house made chips with chipotle ranch. Always a favorite of ours! They have great wings too, although we didn't order them this time! I have never been disappointed by their appetizers! For our main course, I ordered the Crab-cake sandwich and my husband ordered the Salmon BLT. The food came out hot and was good. No complaints here and we will back again soon!

This is a great bar! Tucked away in a nondescript strip mall -once you enter you are you are in a classic local bar/pub I never expect decent wine in a local bar like this but to my surprise I had a great glass of Sauvignon blanc and loved the bar snacks! The best fried pickles ever!! I met a bunch of people and it had great food/ drink choices for all of us. Really good salads, fries, burgers! A karaoke competition in the next room was fun to listen to but we could all still talk and hear each other. Highly recommend!

I LOVE this place!! First of all, and most importantly, the food is SO good! My body is very sensitive. I can only eat quality, natural food. Second Chance is one of the few places I feel secure coming to. Secondly, I love the atmosphere! It is a friendly neighborhood place. I HIGHLY recommend it!

More of a 3.5 stars-- it's pretty good in my book, and I'm sure I'll be back. This is a decent local place to hang out, get a drink, or a causal fun date. I like the 1/2 price burgers on Tuesdays and the fact that they always have something good on tap (plus a big bottled beer selection). The food is alright, and there's a good mix of classic bar food, apps/snacks and a few more unique dishes. I've only had the burgers (decent) fries (good), and onion rings (meh). The prices are pretty much on point for the type of place and the location... although I think the mixed drinks are a bit over the top, even though they're good. The atmosphere is something between 'family restaurant' and divey, and the staff is definitely really friendly and obliging. It's not too loud or too quiet, but just seems to be reasonably lively most of the time. There have always been plenty of tables when I've been there. They have a lot of fun weeknight events like trivia, happy hours and so on. Every other Tuesday is a board games night, which is a lot of fun.

Great spot, great food ... good people. The prices are reasonable... the only thing I can say bad is sometimes there is rif-raf hanging around because of the section 8 housing behind the bar. Make sure you travel in twos like girl scouts do. All and all it is a nice little hidden gem of Columbia.

I wish this place was better. I live down the street and desperately love the idea of a cheap good bar that is walking distance from me. But almost every time I go I am disappointed. The burgers are always over cooked and when I went there for St Patty's day the food was just down right terrible. They have a great happy hour and the bartenders always seem genuine. I would only recommend going for the cheap beer. The waitresses are hit or miss. Sometimes you get great service and sometimes you can't seem to catch a break.

Last time I went to this location it was called the Last Chance Saloon and the food was much better. The chili is still listed as a special of the saloon, but the chili tasted bland. I ordered a chili burger and a root beer and my wife ordered a bowl of chili and a burger. We both agreed that the prices were reasonable, but the chili was just bland in taste. The burgers were nicely done. The root beer was very good with a unique vanilla taste, which I believe was home brewed. There were almost nobody in the saloon at 4pm and service was a bit on the slow side. In the end, if your looking for cheap comfort food that is average, then this is a pretty reasonable stop, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.

Based on 1 impression, I can safely say I wish this pub was around the corner from my house and not a 20-minute drive up 95. 3 of us went to go hear my friend Allen's band, EM Spencer, play and enjoyed the fact it wasn't all the way out in Bowie or Baltimore. I had the day off and spent most of it on the couch tending to video game cravings so I hadn't eaten much at all. I was starving. Second Chance didn't need one. The food was good the first time around. In college, the local restaurant/bar had a great southwestern chicken pasta that I had yet to find a suitable replacement for. I grabbed the $8 dish threw on another $4 for chicken (they didn't skimp on it either) and had a VERY filling meal for under $15 which is what I always consider a plus. In terms of libations, I think I'll need a second visit. On paper they had a great selection of bottles which they seemed to have on hand but their draft menu was limited and when I asked for a Fat Tire they said they were out. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt but if it happens again... minus puntos for these guys. Lastly, I don't think I've ever checked-in to a place that actually had a bonus for doing so. Getting a ice cold Natty Bo draft on the house was a nice touch and hence why I'm taking the time to write this review before the 100 others that I haven't gotten around to yet. Live music often, several pool tables, apparently a Caps friendly crowd, with enough TV's and a versatile menu (when they have everything listed in stock), makes for a good place to know about.

My friend just moved to Columbia, which I've been using as an excuse to bookmark new places I'd like to try. Most Fridays I will want to enjoy a few cold beverages. When I saw that this place had a good looking happy hour, I got pumped to try it out. I was not disappointed. Their happy hour is M-F 3-7, and its $2.50 domestic drafts, 1/2 price wings, and $1 natty bohs! Following the Foursquare advice, I got my wings extra crispy, and of the old bay variety. They were solid wings. I'd be happy to get them anytime. My friends got the buffalo wings, one regular, one extra crispy. Regular was better than extra crispy imo. Both good, however. We also ordered nachos, which we were quite happy with. We ran out of chips before we finished all the toppings, and they went ahead and just brought us more chips without us having to ask. The service was super friendly, and I think our waitress was one of the owners. We stuck around from 4:30 to 8 eating & drinking the whole time. At the end of happy hour they brought us all shots on the house. This was our first time here and definitely not our last. Started getting pretty busy around 5-6. So if you want to get a table near the bar get there early.

Here's what I love about Second Chance: Friends: Some work there and some just go there a lot. Maybe you have to be me to experience this kind of alchemy, but it's pretty awesome to know that no matter the hour or day, there will be a familiar face inside. Music: There's always something playing. Even when it's bad (not Michael Jackson bad, but really baaaaaaad) it's still fun to listen. And lots of the time it's great (Toast! W00T!) Drinks: They have a great selection of beers, and they make decent cocktails too. Here's what's not so great: Food: Meh. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing right with it either. They had a cool summer thing going awhile back where they served fresh appetizers and cocktails on the back terrace. Other than that, it's mostly frozen / fried. Ambiance: Divey, complete with ancient regulars and sketchy newcomers. Quite a few colorful personalities, but I wish it were less . . . divey, I guess. Sorry, I'm a uptown girl at heart!

The special drink menu is awesome, especially if you like Angry Orchard. The Angry Cuban is to die for! Love the ambience and feel of the place. Really like the bands on Friday night. But the food leaves you disappointed. Onion rings are terrible, shrimp PO boy had about 3 shrimp. If you're hungry eat before you go.

This place is alright. Really good bar (as in for drink selection) but service can come with a smile or scowl, depending on the day/night. Sometimes the place is hoppin' and sometimes it's deserted. Good for big groups. Worth a visit to check out if you're in the area but not the best place to go out of your way to hang out at, considering it's so hit or miss. I can't comment on the food since I haven't eaten there since it was Last Chance, but apparently they kept the idea of having every possible hot sauce known to man. So at least if the food's crap you can douse it with fire.

As the sun dropped Friday night, we enjoyed our first outdoor meal of 2011 -- and finally had a taste of the Second Chance Saloon's Old Bay wings. To me, wings are the ideal pub food -- the fruit of deep frying that I don't want to do at home, but without the stuffed feeling that comes when you realize that the platter of nachos really was larger than your stomach. Second Chance Saloon's wings made us happy because they were substantial and delicious. Good meat on the bone. You get eight pieces in an order. We split one order of Old Bay and one of Buffalo and left quite happy with the first night warm enough to eat on a patio. The Old Bay wings make my list because they're interesting. Anyone can dump a breaded chicken piece in a fryer. Second Chance turns out a light crisp texture, then the salty, spicy flavor of Old Bay. This isn't the overpowering Old Bay that you can get caked on a hardshell. This is crisp without being greasy, and you taste Old Bay and meat. I never know which of the local pubs actually serves good food. Bad nachos and burgers make me so sad (and distended) that I tend to stay close to favorites like Victoria Gastro Pub. Second Chance had gotten a plug last year from the chef at Oceanaire Seafood Room, and one of the owners told the Sun that he favored the Old Bay wings. Second Chance has a nice menu of pub food -- somehow I got a vibe that they're trying to turn out good stuff. It has a small patio out back and a few tables in front that overlook the parking lot, and they definitely had a beer list worthy to accompany the wings

Whats not to love about The Second Chance Saloon aka OMHS Reunion Central??? For those of us who grew up in or around Oakland Mills Village Center, it has been sad to see the changes thru the years and favored old businesses come and go...Such was the case when the Last Chance closed down a few years ago. It was always the place to get a good meal and they had lots to choose from to drink including a broad selection of regional beers. Thank Goodness this meeting place and watering hole has been preserved and reinvigorated by owners Declan and Wendy who happily accommodated a group of us OMHS grads to reunite with good food, good drink and good friends. On my recent trip back, I visited twice - once for lunch and once for the night life. All my eats were enjoyable: crab cake sliders, chili, peel and eat shrimp and their selection of booze was pretty decent. Saturday night they had a live band which was wonderful. We sat in the bar which was far enough away to allow us to talk all night but close enough to enjoy the music and to see that they draw a decent crowd on live music night with plenty of room for dancing. I love the name - Second Chance and I am glad to see them as a part of our surviving Village Center...

I came here for a Capitals viewing party with my husband. The menu looked awesome reading it online. Started off with the sampler. It has 6 different items. It was too greasy and overcooked. How can you screw up on mozzarella sticks? I had the crab cake sandwich, it was nothing special and had an over fried taste. The only good thing I can say is the beer menu is very extensive. On an unrelated note, I believe this is a bad neighborhood judging from the stuff that was behind the counter at the nearest super market.

I would rate this place just 2 stars, but their drink specials for happy hour and extensive beer selections are definitely worth an extra star. Came here for happy hour with my husband and another couple around 6:30 p.m. on a weeknight. We were greeted warmly and promptly. The bar area is pretty dimly lit, but there's plenty of tables and space. The restaurant consists of a bar area, then a middle room with a small stage and more tables & chairs, and a back room with 2 pool tables. If I ever go back to this place, it would only be for their happy hour drinks specials. $2.50 for domestic drafts, house wine, and rail drinks from 3-7 p.m. is a phenomenal deal in my opinion!! They've got a really great selection of draft beers and an even more extensive selection of bottled beers. My husband and mutual guy friend were really impressed. Their wings are also half-off. We tried their Hot, BBQ, and Old Bay. It was okay. I've definitely had better.

Epic disappointment. I'd heard some great things about Second Chance Saloon, so I was pretty excited to be heading over there for brunch this morning. I guess my Spidey sense should've kicked in when we showed up and the place was completely empty, but I'm an eternal optimist, so we grabbed a table. We started with onion rings (which were terrific), a bowl of chili (also quite good), and a pound of Old Bay-flavored wings (reputed to be the best in Howard County). They screwed up the wings the first time, so they fired a second order, which were undercooked, which was pretty disgusting on a lot of levels. Then we got our meals. Two of us got the crab sliders and one the blackened chicken sandwich. The sliders were fantastic; the sandwich pedestrian. Where Second Chance really failed us was the homemade chips that came with all 3 sandwiches. Tough, oily, cold, obviously day-old leatherlike rounds of disrespected potato. The fact that someone in the kitchen thought it would be a good idea to include them with three separate dishes cemented the single star I've awarded. The waiter even admitted that they knew there were issues with the chips. We got 10% off our bill for our trouble. Unfortunately for us, The Second Chance Saloon most certainly didn't live up to the hype. Maybe they've got their stuff together for dinner service on a Friday night (maybe), but that didn't help us at Sunday Brunch..

One of the best beer selections I've found in a local bar...in Columbia, MD. Good food, great specials, kids menu, live music, pool, darts...and a book corner with kids books?! There are a couple different options - the main tap room (mostly standing room only), which is always crowded and noisy, great bar ambiance. The back room is quieter, has tables that easily seat 6. We were there for half-price burger night, and the burgers were really good. Specials (in addition to regular happy hour): MONDAYS: Free Challenge Trivia 7pm-9:30pm- house cash prizes TUESDAYS: 1/2 Price Burgers 5-10pm, Industry Night 9pm-CLOSE 50% off for all people in the hotel/restaurant industry. Bring your recent pay stubs WEDNESDAYS: College Hump Night $1 PINTS (Bud/Miller Lite/Yuengling/Beast) for people with a current OR EXPIRED college I.D. $2 without college ID. NO COVER 7pm-close. Open Mic from 8pm THURSDAYS: Happy Hour Drink Prices from open to close! Karaoke and DJ from 9pm FRIDAY: Happy Hour 3-7pm, Live Music after 9pm 2-for-1 bombs 9-11pm, $3 Shooter Specials SATURDAY: Ladies Night 10pm-1am, $2 rail drinks, $2 pints (Bud/Miller Lite/Yuengling), 2-for-1 bombs 9-11pm SUNDAYS: Brunch 11am-1pm with Yappy Hour on the outdoor back patio--Dogs drink free! & $5 Build-Your-Own Bloody Mary Bar & $5 Sliders all day/Night

Went there at 2pm on a Tuesday for a beer. I got exactly what I wanted; good bartender and a good beer. This place won't need a second chance from me, nailed it on the first try.

We came here after reading other Yelp reviews. We were looking for a place with cheap, delicious, down to earth food and we totally found it! The menu has a lot of options but is mainly standard American/Maryland standard fare. The prices were VERY fair, especially in the middle of Howard County. I got a grilled cheese (sourdough bread, cheddar cheese, bacon, tomato--there were two other combinations for grilled cheeses as well) with homemade potato chips. We also got desserts, sliders, onion rings, and were pleased with all of the foods we had. Service was fantastic. We were served by a very cool blonde bartender who gave us several beer suggestions from their gigantic selection. Lots of good specials and local brews and wines available here! The dining areas are pretty spacious and spread out, and there's an outdoor area, a few pool tables, a shuffleboard table, and some dartboards, all 1 dollar to play. There wasn't a huge crowd at all, and it was nice to sort of have the place to ourselves. We're really glad we came and we're hoping to come again soon. Thanks for such a wonderful experience!

Great food and cool atmosphere. I didn't expect it to be right next to/part of a strip mall, but it has a very neighborhood feel. Our server wasn't super friendly or outgoing, but he was still nice. The mussels were delicious!!! Spicy, fresh, and they give you a huge portion for a good price. I mostly went for the drinks and they were also pretty good. They have their own infused vodkas. I wanted to try a shot of the swedish fish vodka, but they were all out, so I tried the Starburst one and it was so good! I could drink a whole glass of it! They also had a live band and they were pretty awesome. Nice, calm, and diverse crowd. Needless to say, I will definitely be back!

I had been trying to visit Second Chance for a while. And a few weeks ago I got my chance with my coworkers for happy hour. The experience was ok. The bar decor was interesting, the staff was friendly and attentive. Their selection of food was pretty good, but the food itself was mediocre even by bar standards. They also have a really nice drink selection and know how to mix a drink. I would recommend going for happy hour though, because , like most bars in Columbia, it is kind of pricey.

Really surprising... For where this place was located, in a shopping center. I really enjoyed it... The selection of beer was great the staff was nice, except our waitress disappeared and the owner ended up serving us... Now for me that's not a bad thing, there is nothing that shows more dedication than a hands on owner. I will go again and I will recommend this place to others.

Nice local bar that is in the corner of a quiet strip mall. My friends and I came to have some after dinner drinks and hang out. This place provided good beers and low key atmosphere to do just that.

The food is amazing for bar food. The prices are great too. However I have been going twice a week since February with my friends. During the spring it is fine, but in the warmer months the place is just way too hot. Especially in the pool area. We constantly ask the bar tender to turn on the air to the room but it appears the owner wants to save money. I have been sticking out the heat since May, but it is just too hot there to have an enjoyable night. My friends and I have moved on.

My wife had been here with a small women's group from church and wanted to bring me to try it. We arrived on a Monday at 7pm. I don't know what was going on, but they were playing country music on mounted speakers so loudly that I knew there was no way I'd be able to eat there. I can't stand a place so noisy that I have to yell to speak to people. The place was almost full with no host to seat guests, just a sign that said seat yourself. We looked around for a seat, nothing available. So we just walked out and went somewhere else.

(08/28/2011) Was out this way for a friend's opening at the Meeting House Gallery. Happened to need some food and a drink, and found this place across the way. Reminds me of a neighborhood place in Baltimore or a locals place in OC; not very Columbia at all. We actually felt right at home. Nice bartender (Frannie?) helped me build my Bloody Mary at the build-your-own-bar and we ran him ragged with drink and food orders, but remained pleasant the whole time. Food is pretty good, looks like someone in the kitchen cares, and they try real hard, some things are good to very good, some could use some work. Flatbread pizza tasted delicious, but was limp; catfish sandwich was a nice piece breaded, fried crispy on a soft baguette and a mildy spicy mayo. Heavy hand with the herbs on both dishes, not a bad thing. Spinach and artichoke dip was extremely cheesy, a little on the salty side. Homemade potato chips fried until dark brown, great if you like that roasty potato sort of thing. They've got a TV for your sports watching, pool table, party room, and plenty of space at the bar. Prices are reasonable for food and drinks, place feels dark and divey in a lived in sort of way, recommended if you need to step out of your Stepford (Columbia) mold for a little while. *and how can you not love a bar that will add a strip of bacon to any drink you order?!

Don't go here to eat (the bar was ok). I had a bad experience with the sliders before but gave this place another chance when some friends suggested we go for dinner and trivia. I ordered the pasta with garlic and olive oil and added the "sauteed veggies". First, the veggies were mushrooms, peppers and onion - more appropriate for a cheesesteak than a pasta dish. Second, the noodles were crispy! I don't know if they hadn't been cooked long enough or they were retrieved out of a trash can but I can't believe the cook and waitress thought it was ok to serve a dish like that. Finally, it was absolutely swimming in olive oil (maybe they thought they could soften the noodles with it?). Disgusting. Burn me once, shame on you. Burn me twice, shame on me. I will not go back. EVER. The only positive is that our waitress was very good (except for the serving me uncooked food part).
