Great wings and sliders! Service is good and atmosphere is great for sports watching. They have fun theme nights.

I mean, it's a bar so I wouldn't expect much. Most of the food is just bar food and is mediocre. However, they do have one thing I LOVE - the buffalo chicken dip. Yum!!! This is a place you go to hang out with your friends and have a good time, not a place you go to for fine dining.

We were attracted by the "kids eat free" deal - everyday with the purchase of an adult meal. While the atmosphere was neat (TV's at every table) and the server was friendly and efficient, the food is mediocre - and sometimes too expensive: an entree apple salad for $8.79, on the smallish side, with a probably bagged greens-carrot mix, blue cheese crumbles, and a vidalia onion dressing that seems bottled from the supermarket; a bit unexciting flatbread pizzas for $5.99 and up - not a bad price, but they are also on the small side (certainly not as big as Pizzaria Uno, for example) and seem to be frozen; I'm sure they're not freshly prepared. Sort of like Ellios with additional cheese melted on $6.49 (!) for a medium sized order of sweet potato fries, which had little taste and came with a not-well-thought-out caramel dipping sauce regular fries with an off-taste, like they were cooked in old grease Nothing was bad, but I could have gone down the frozen aisle at Giant and picked up the same quality food for much less. Perhaps their business model relies on the sports atmosphere, alcoholic drinks, and bar food, and one should only expect so-so quality from their dinner menu. We appreciate the generous free kids meals (which come with a drink and sides like apple slices and fries), but will probably not be back.

Last night after we had gone out to eat we were looking for a place to go have a few drinks. We saw the greene turtle and decided to give it a shot. This place was really fun. They have flat screens at every table and an awesome jumbotron above the bar broadcasting local sports. They had Bud products for $1.99 a bottle and we ordered several of those and I was drinking Remy Martin on the rocks. I ordered a long island early on and it was a little too heavy on the gin. We drank a lot and out bill was only $50. Between the TV's and the cheep booze I really liked this place and will probably go back before we head out of town.

I like the trivia at this place so I kept trying their food thinking there must be something good there. No. It is all terrible. Beer only if you must go here for trivia!

This place is bad. Horrible noise! Can't even hear your server and vice versa. Tasteless Blue Cheese Burger. Boring French Dip. The Buffalo Burger caused my son to vomit immediately after going outside! I know what the previous reviewer meant about being food poisoned! There should be a Keep Out sign on the front door or else there should be stomach pumps at all tables! GROSS!!

I've been to this location multiple times with various companions, and we've had a good time each time. As far as the food, we usually stick to appetizers, but that changes occasionally to an entree. My last visit was on a Wednesday night, and there was a DJ playing 90's--2000's club/dance type music, some of which I hadn't heard in years. So, part of the fun that night was reliving the songs themselves :-). What I REALLY liked was the surprise when the bill came. Apparently, it was 2-for-1 night, so the bill was 1/2 price. (We had drinks only and sat in the bar.) I asked if this was a regular thing on Wed, and the bartender confirmed. Yay. Note to self...come back again on Wed. Note to Yelpers...leave room for me.

Service = awesome Food = mediocre at best. Won't come back. The only reason I'm giving this place three stars is because of our friendly and courteous server.

3.5 stars I came here out of necessity as it was just about the closest place to me that would be showing one of the Ravens preseason games. At first I was just expecting a typical generic sports bar but there is enough uniqueness here to make it a worthwhile destination, even if it's not for a sports related event. For starters, there is a ton of space. Large TV's everywhere displaying any and every game. No need to worry about being able to find a spot, or getting a bad view as it's practically impossible not to be within 10 feet of a big HDTV. In fact, unless I missed one I think every TV here is a flat-panel widescreen HDTV. The other cool thing is how they have a big NBA style scoreboard but instead of just taking space and adding to the theme it actually has scrolling score updates from all sports. Really a great idea and actually quite helpful. And not to be outdone by the plethora/oversaturation of sports, the beer list is actually really good! I could believe it when I saw more than just Budweiser and Miller products. They actually have a pretty decent selection of microbrews on tap. I'm not sure if they change them up at different seasons, but I was pretty impressed with the assortment. Plenty of local brews, with my particular favorite being the Backfin Ale. The food was pretty good. I was a particular fan of the pretzel appetizer. They offer standard bar fare but actually have some unique options like the Steel City salad. I got a grilled sandwich that was very satisfying. Green Turtle offers up all the sports viewing you could ever want. If you're in the area and want to get out to watch a game with some friends or some comraderie with strangers, then you will find happiness here. It definitely serves it's purpose, and serves it well.

Went yesterday to watch a few games with a church group. Yes, us churchgoers can enter a bar without promptly bursting into flames! Was pleasantly surprised at the fun, yet grown and sexy atmosphere. Very cute guys in the late 30's and up range. GT was packed with pals sporting their favorites team's paraphernalia. It was party time, indeed. The waitresses were busy but were friendly and engaging. They checked on us several times, bought me lemon specially requested for my water and exhibited a personable, professional attitude. Me likey! Definitely will be back to grab a table and chair (more than enough available, even with the crowd) for some gametime enjoyment.

Decent prices and food, but TERRIBLE service. We had to go to the bar twice to order our own drinks because our table was apparently invisible to our waitress. The only time she took notice is when we shouted, yes SHOUTED, "excuse me". And when she did finally being us drinks, she brought the wrong ones. If you decide to go here. Don't sit in the bar area. You are sure to be completely ignored.

Not much too say about a sports bar. Plenty of tv's and the beer prices were ok.

We came for the first time this weekend. At first we were impressed - we liked the individual TV's on each table and thought this would be a good place to come next season for football. However, our opinion soon change. When the server brought the food to the table, she spilled the very large container of ranch dressing that came with my husband's wings ALL over the table. She was hardly apologetic and seemed annoyed. The wings themselves were very dry but we had no opportunity to send them back as no one checked on us for at least 20 minutes. My drink was completely empty for quite a while before anyone offered to get us a refill. The food was very over priced for what we got. Overall, bad experience. The worst part was my husband's stomache was very sick when we got home because of what he ate. Definitely not a good impression and not somewhere we'll be trying twice.

The food was okay, the best thing on the menu is the raspberry turkey sandwich. I get that everytime. The atmosphere is nice and I love to go there with friends to watch the UFC fight.

My buddy and I were on the hunt for a new spot to eat, but got lost in the Columbia suburbia and made a pitstop here. This is my first experience of the infamous Greene Turtle. I heard of many stories of this sports bar/eatery chain from many friends. We arrived around 1130 and it was not busy at all. Looked like we beat the lunch rush as 12 came around the place got a bit busier. I ordered there stuffed burger special, the Spicy Jack. It was cooked to my taste and the stuffed pepper jack was pretty good. It was also topped with guacamole and some sort of salsa concoction. It did not look like the picture as they skimped out on the guacamole salsa. I had fries with it so that was another dollar on top for the 10 burger. Service was a 5, from the greeter at the door to our server, it was overall superb. Food a 3.5 and the atmosphere is a 4. I would definitely check out other chains in the future.

If I could give 6 stars I would! The Green Turtle was nice enough to host a viewing party for a gameshow I was on a few weeks ago. When searching for a venue I was looking for 3 things: -Reservation for 16 people. -A dedicated TV with my gameshow on at a specific time and channel. -And audio so my friends and family could hear the show. The managers at The Green Turtle not only met all my criteria, but went ABOVE & BEYOND to make sure everything was in order during my show! They made sure they had the correct ABC channel it was on, played the show on their big screen which they sat us all in front of, and even had the volume of the show be played throughout the entire restaurant! As an added bonus, they even had free Wi-Fi so I could host a live webcam during the event! They truly helped make the experience an unforgettable one! As for the food and service, the staff was super friendly and everyone one of my guest enjoyed their meals! Plus they have great drink specials before 8pm! I would like to personally thank everyone there at The Green Turtle for everything they did for me and my family. Thank you!

This is a decent sports bar. There are lots of big TVs for football, and lots of food on the menu that will probably lead to a massive coronary. It's priced a bit high, but this is Howard County, so we should all come to expect that.

If you're going to a bar to grab a drink and watch some sports than The Green Turtle would be great... but if you're going for a meal, this isn't my favorite place. I've been several times since my family enjoys it, but I haven't had a meal there that I really enjoyed. The dishes weren't bad... but they weren't good either. Good service though!

It has good foods but it's very very noisy and I recommend to go outside to eat.

Decent enough place to catch a game with ample TVs and decent amount of beers. The food is your standard bar food and similar to a watered down TGI Fridays for those not familiar with the local chain. Unfortunately the food is very mediocre so don't come looking to be impressed. The wings are decent, as are some of their other apps, but the entrees and sandwiches are hit and miss at best. Come for drinks or the game, but don't bother coming to eat - especially since there is a variety of food options in the Columbia area.

Great food and awesome service! The food at The Green Turtle is very Maryland! I love their seafood options and anything with crabmeat is delicious. The crab pizza is freaking amazing. Order it!

Maybe I should have just gone to the one at Arundel Mills. I keep going to these random Greene Turtle locations disappointed. Let me start by saying that the service for pretty good for the most part. The servers were very nice and attentive to what I needed. What I didn't like was how one of the servers wiped the table down prior to seating me and the table was still wet from the cloth. The server then sets the menus down on the wet table causing them to be wet on the bottom. I had gone for Happy Hour and I ordered some sweet potato fries, buffalo wings, chicken tenders, and a crab flatbread pizza. The sweet potato fries were not fried long enough. Most of them were mushy and limp. The buffalo wings were cold! This is the first time I have ever gone to a Greene Turtle and the wings were not pipping hot and fresh. They tasted like they were someone else's order that had been sitting to the side for too long. The chicken tenders were fried too long causing them to be burned. The crab flatbread pizza tasted like it had sat to the side just ike the buffalo wings. Usually, when you order a bunch of appetizers, you expect something to be wrong with one of them. I can't believe all of the appetizers were not fulfilling. Greene Turtle just released some new drinks for their summer time promotional. I tried the Blue Moon Crush. Let me tell you...it was a waste of $8.50. It tasted like the bartender put a small amount of alcohol in it. How dare you charge over 8 dollars for a drink where I can't even taste the alcohol in it or feel the effects?! The server had the nerve to ask if I wanted another one. HECK NO!! Maybe I should have told the server to have the bartender make me another drink for free, but this time, make sure it's made correctly. Now if the bartender is being told by management to short people on the amount of alcohol they pour into customer's drinks, this problem lies with management because that's wrong. It could be possible that the bartender is shortening the alcohol they serve to random people such as myself in order to save the extra alcohol for their buddies when they arrive. Either way, both ways are wong because they should be profiting enough from correct pouring. And no, me watching a few seasons of Bar Rescue doesn't make me an expert. It's common business sense. I won't return. I'll just stick to the Arundel Mills location and the Verizon Center location.

I am a fan of the Green Turtle franchise so I figured there couldnt be much of a difference in this one and other ones that I have been to. The bar area in this one is kinda big compared to other ones Ive been to and they seem to have more arcade type games for people to play. It can get a little awkward though when people are really into their games and your just trying to grab a bite to eat. We first sat in the bar area when we arrived but since there was a small group of us that wanted to chat it proved to be a little too loud for us in that area. The staff was great about moving us out to the patio and even allowed us to keep our same waiter so that we didnt have to close out the drinks we had already ordered. Overall it was fine, service was decent and the food was what I had expected.

It was actually busy for lunch on a Wednesday, but we still managed to get in and our party of 12 sat right away.It was a working lunch so unfortunately I didn't get to fully appreciate or inspect their beer selection. But the taps and signage piqued interest. Being a large party I cannot properly assess the wait staff, but they were serviceable for what was going on. They were not great by any means and I would lean towards not good even. But like I said, we had a party of 12 and the place was fairly busy. The food was not bad. I has some kind of pork tacos and they were nice. I would eat them again. The consensus around the table was that it was a good lunch. Later on in the week I realized it was a chain when I saw a couple other locations. Maybe one of the other locations would be a better experience. Again good, not great. Fun Fact#12: 1GB of storage cost $300,000 in 1981, now it can be found for under $1.

I've only been here once before and have no complaints from each of my visits. The bar staff is personable, the happy hour menu is decent, the restaurant is clean & there's ample parking.

No complaints here. Just really awesome food, service and DRINKS. There's one drink called the Kinky (something) and it's one of the BEST mixed drinks I've ever had. I ordered the chicken tenders and they were PHENOMENAL. Their signature golden BBQ sauce that comes with it is as good as it gets. We also had shooters and they were pretty good as well. Great time.

I like the food and drinks at the greene turtle. The atmosphere is not really my kind of thing but there are trade offs in life ;) It can get pretty loud and rowdy in there. But they have individual TV's at each table so you can try to tune it out if you're not there for the party! The crab dip with pretzel sticks is amazing and I love their spiked iced teas!!!

Why 5 stars? Because the main bartender there Jennifer is always on point and very friendly with all of her customers. This is only my second time at this location (3-4 months from my first visit) and she remembered me! Food is great and the alcohol even better! Way to go Jennifer, keep up the outstanding customer service!

The Greene Turtle is exactly why I stay away from chain restaurants and sports bars: .:. A ridiculous number of oversized television screens .:. Unoriginal, unhealthy food .:. Largely-disinterested service .:. Gimmicky rewards programs, the details of which are murky As a dubious bonus, you are guaranteed drama out front on weekends (fights and sometimes-legal smoking.) I used to attend night classes nearby and never knew what I would see on my way home! Why two stars: this branch makes a point of booking local bands, many of which are very talented. We recently enjoyed listening to the Crawdaddies, a zydeco group. I ate dinner before I came and nursed a beer during the show, and under those circumstances, I had a great time.

Always had pleasant experiences here, one time I came with a group for lunch and only 3 of us occupied a table for 10 for about an hour while our friends were running late and the waitress was super cool about it. The bar area is great for football season, and the buffalo chicken nachos are amazing!!! I ordered some the other day just for to-go, also talk about efficient that the hostess can process your order right at the stand and you don't have to flag down a busy bar. The flavored crushes are amazing here and the bartenders are friendly and helpful.

Nothing to write home about at all. Typical bar food. We ordered the beef sliders...not a fan. Very dry and the cheddar cheese didn't help. Stay away from the fish tacos, no flavor and the contents looked a day old imo. Best thing we ordered were the old bay wings. Drinks were weak as well. Server was fine. Guess I was expecting more. Good spot to catch a game but that's it.

I have visited this green turtle prior and did not like the service at all or the food. I revisited recently and I can honestly say the food was magnificent the service was great. Way to redeem yourself awesome job! The lunch menu is awesome also and the drinks are out of this world! I will be going here regularly now!

Great restaurant for happy hour with big parties! Only downside is that they don't offer much of a beer or wine selection. Only three-four white and red wines available. Food is okay. Wings lack flavor, boneless wings are a bit too salty, nachos can use a bit more toppings and burgers are a bit dry.

    (2)
  • Elizabeth B.

I used to not come here because I didn't like their food. But they have a new menu now and it is much better. I had the express lunch with sandwich and salad. The sandwich was jerk turkey on flatbread with cheddar cheese , onion and a raspberry sauce. The salad was greens, apples, walnuts and blue cheese with a vidalia onion dressing. Both were delicious! Service was great too..food came out very quickly. I will come back more often now !

My husband and I have been to this location a few times, and have been very underwhelmed by the food. Tonight was no exception, save for our waitress who failed to check on us after our food order was taken. When I say she didn't check on us, she never stopped to see if we needed refills on our drinks. She wasn't even the one who brought out our food. It took over 20 minutes to try to grab her to get our check, and rather than just apologize (I understand it might have been busy for a Wednesday evening) she became defensive and then threw the billfold onto the table. The food was bland, and dry - I had their chicken chesapeake sandwich and my husband had a cooked to death bacon cheeseburger. The fries we got with our food were cold... If you like overpriced drinks and mediocre food, with sketchy service, this is the place for you. Yes there was live music but I don't think I want a waitress throwing things at me either.

I write this review from the confines of the office crapper. The only food I've eaten today came from The Green Turtle in Columbia. Those dirt bags gave me a nasty case of abdominal distress. I feel like my insides are falling out of me into a watery grave. I ate french fries and a crab cake. The food was only "so so" and had I realized what was in store for me, I would have skipped lunch. Clearly the Green Turtle has some work to do on the food safety and sanitary fronts. There are so many better choices in the area, don't make the same mistake I did. Your anus will thank you.:-)

Came here and wasn't expecting too much from a chain sportsbar; thank goodness. The place promotes local brews but sadly only has three selections. My friend and I both ordered burgers because any place worth its salt should be able to nail that. Waitress asked us our desired doneness -medium rare like the Lord has intended- and they promptly came out well done with doughy buns. Thankfully the wings were tasty and crispy, but we had to ask and it seemed a rarity. I guess this is average but no where near a special experience.

We've been to this location a few times now, but we might not go back. The most recent visit was a mistake for us, since we went to lunch on a Sunday. There were a few different football games on the hundreds of TV screens, and the crowd was insanely loud. I would have liked some earplugs! The food is adequate "American" bar food, service is a bit slow, but I wouldn't want to go back unless there were no major games on.

Visited the restaurant for a lunch meeting. Service: Excellent, polite, fast. Our waitress greeted us near immediately. Our drinks were bought back in a good amount of time. She took our orders accurately and when delivered asked if we needed any sauces. She returned promptly with them. She re-filled our drinks less than 10 minutes later. And after the completion of our meal, promptly cleared the table and laid the bill. Menu: Classic americana. The jarred lemonades were a nice touch and absolutely delicious. I had the peach lemonade, served with diced peaches in the jar. My co-worker had the strawberry lemonade. We both enjoyed our drinks immensely. Their menu was very burger heavy with some salads and a pasta dish or two. I opted for the BBQ burger, no bacon, sub veggie patty. It was delicious! As a pescatarian, I don't each much (read: no) meat these days. So when I get a craving, it's nice to get my daily dose of soy in between a bun slathered with Smoky BBQ, covered in fried onions, and cheese, so that I can pretend. The fries were an adequate portion, and I left the restaurant overly stuffed. That said, I would need more hot/healthy options for vegetarians. We're not all salads and fake burgers. (edamame/avocado hot pasta dish?) Environment: There were tv's built into several of the tables. While sure to impede on a date's ability to converse with you while an All-Star game is on... It's probably very much so enjoyed buy the sports aficionados that are sure to frequent this place. Would I return? I'm not really into the sports bar/american food restaurants. But if I had an appetite for a burger (remember I don't eat meat) then I would probably return here.

My wings tasted like they were microwaved, pink in some spots. Who does not deep fry their wings? The blue cheese was as runny as water. I wanted to gag. Totally rubbery an gross.

Cool place and you can get a rewards thing. Even though it says you get a free appetizer with sign up. I didn't get one. I didn't get a good answer why, but the manager knocked some off the bill. Oh well. Tv'a at every table. That's a plus.

Greene Turtle is always awesome for football Sundays and now that I live in AZ, man I wish they shipped their crab dip & pretzels to Phoenix (AZ, not MD!). Greene Turtle (any of their locations) never seem to disappoint. Great drink specials and always a good time.

There are tons of great restaurants in the area where you can spend $20 and NOT get a soggy microwaved pizza a $5 "side" salad even though its supposed to be a $3 add on salad. Unfortunately, when you order the microwaved pizza they consider that an appetizer and will charge you full price for the additional salad that comes on a plate that is a smudge larger then a butter plate. But wait there's more! They ran out of flower on a Friday lunch! Really? Who runs out of flower on the busiest lunch day. Basically do yourself a favor and spend your hard earned money on a lunch that is enjoyable, fresh and makes sense for the price without little gimmicks such as oh I'm sorry your pizza doesn't get a side salad because we consider a $10 pizza a app. Wish I could give it zero stars

This was the next location to find a home for UFC PPV watching. In a cross between being disappointed in other venues and being awesomely prepared I called ahead to confirm the specifics. The website has a calendar for each location and most are updated with what is being shown on the TVs. There are those that show the big games and some have UFC so good on them for being up to speed in the twenty fourth and a half century! The girl I spoke with knew exactly what I was talking about and offered very good advice on when to show up for a fight night and when they get crowded etc... I was already impressed and I have not even stepped in the door yet. A few Facebook event updates and texts the night of to "remind" the crew and the table of one grew to a table of six in no time. "The Good" - The staff were polite fast efficient and all around awesome. When the very large bouncer says "Good Night Gentlemen" when you are leaving after you had a great night hanging out with you friends... yeah thats cool. - The food was basic pub grub but there were a few standouts. I had the chicken cheesesteak. I was brought back to my past when I read that it was served on an Amoroso roll. Not only is this an incredible bakery in the Philly area. I forgot that the Turtle "imports" them.. Needless to say the sandwich was delicious. I did not even have to season it. The chef used salt and pepper while it was on the grill... which is impressive these days. Bonus points for caring. -The staff and manager(s) on duty knew what to do and why people were there for an advertised event on a S A T U R D A Y night. The prelim fights were on a majority of the televisions when they started. The other TVs had basketball games on and were finishing up in the time the prelim fights were on. The manager walked around about ten minutes prior to the fight starting and made sure all of the televisions were on the same remote so he could change and update all of the channels as one... this was awesome. When the fight started all of the televisions were changed as one and it was flawless. - The beer selection is fantastic, micro brews and regular... all in all impressed. - The crowd was a mix of young UFC fans wearing Tapout and Affliction shirts, girls with their parents, older guys, one dude sitting alone nursing some wings and the table of some poor girl trapped on a date with a guy watching the fights over her head... oh and us. But here's the thing, there were no bad vibes... no egos, everyone was having a great time. Maybe I lucked out and it was the perfect storm... thats cool I can accept that. But I am still gonna brag a little about it. I was there ;) "The Meh" - There were a few blind spots for the televisions. Now, please keep in mind that if you spin your chair around you can easily see one of the(double digit)number of televisions. But if you want to look across the table and hold a conversation then look up to see the TV then look back down again pick a good seat. - There was a slight delay between the large number of HD televisions and the giant projector. It was not a huge delay just enough to notice. "The Bad" - The volume on the fights was drowned out by the crowd level. I mention it here for the sole reason that I like to hear the announcers now and then.

Man I am getting old! First thing I did when I walked in here at 9pm last Friday night was wince. The bar was jam packed and everyone was shout-talking over the blaring music. I was not in the mood - I was starving. Strolling around bed Bath & Beyond for over an hour can really wear an aging 80s queen out! We had a table near the bar (just on the edge of coolness!). we got our beers right away. Our server was the best! She was very attentive. I love their Hot Pretzels sticks and cheese dip. I'm not impressed with their quesadillas. Overall, the food isn't the reason to come here though, is it? Come for happy hour. Come for sports on the massive TVs everywhere. Come here to root for the Ravens; the best place to do it outside of Baltimore.

They got great beers and wings over here. It was my co-worker birthday (Nida). The staff are nice and friendly.

Imagine going to Taco Bell for Mexican food your whole life, thinking that's the only way, the only flavor, the only choice. Imagine that 'Eureka' moment when you find yourself in a real Mexican cantina for the first time, feeling, tasting, enjoying all the details you've been missing by thinking crappy Taco Bell was the terminus of authenticity and atmosphere for Mexican cuisine. You practically drink in the salsa, bathe in the guacamole, rejoice in the tacos made of tortilla bread instead of cardboard, and finally climax with the gushing juice of agave. If you have correctly imagined this scenario, you are ready to understand how I feel watching the UFC at The Green Turtle instead of Hooters for the first time. The servers DO NOT: - Try to hit on you for tips ("Hey cutie, what can I get started for you? Ok honey, just a sec!") - Dress in their little sister's spandex tops (The Latin name for this species is Muffinus Topperus) - Serve horridly limp, undercooked chicken wings (Even Bear Grylls brings iodine tablets to stave off salmonella) They DO: - Wait on you, even if you just want water (Yes, you read correctly!) - Have a very big selection of creative and delicious menu items (Big Kahuna Burger? Yes please!) - Boast the perfect setup to watch any sports broadcast (70 inch TV right in front of the table? I'm sold.) I'm not using hyperbole when I say this place was packed on the night of UFC 93, St-Pierre versus BJ Penn. There was literally standing room only throughout the entire establishment. Our group arrived two hours early and still had a 45 minute wait, but it was so worth it. We passed up two open tables just so we could get the glimmering throne of a table directly in front of the giant projector screen. What a treat to see BJ Penn get his face demolished in vivid, close-up detail. I had the Big Kahuna Burger, which comes with a really thick pineapple on top of a juicy sirloin burger. It came with kettle cooked chips, which are my favorite second only to barbeque baked Lay's. The wings come in many different piece combinations, from just a few to over sixty. The spice levels explain themselves well: "not spicy," "medium," "really spicy." Some beers were on special because of the fight, so Bud Light was only $2.50 by the bottle. They have Blue Moon on tap. They have ice cream shots as a dessert choice. They have funny descriptions of their menu items, plus very helpful pictures. They have televisions IN the booths! They are friendly, fast, and fun. They are NOT Hooters. I will never watch a Pay-Per-View event at Hooters ever again as long as there is a Green Turtle plodding around the area.

For happy hour this place is great - especially having my own personal mug of discounted brew! The menu is decent and the food is good quality. You will have a good time because the staff and customers are friendly - as with most places in Columbia. The price is right and this is probably the most value of any bar in Columbia... I would say 20% cheaper than any other saloon in the area.

decent food and drinks...wed nite small crowd. had the southwest salad and hubby had the burger. the crispy onions on the salad were good, and the burger was good too. they had some kind of trivia going on, not very exciting, but it was a last minute pitstop.

This was an excellent place, especially for a hardened out-of-towner like myself. It is a chain, but a local one. Everyone was extremely friendly. We must have liked it, because we went back for more less than 24 hours after our first visit. Their dishes are unique and creative, but most importantly, delicious. I ended up eating their sliders (cheeseburgers and pulled pork), fiesta dip nachos, buffalo chicken dip nachos, the Jumpin' Jack Turkey sandwich. Topping this all off was the Choxplosion, which was an awesome dessert. The food there is definitely filling and delivered in good portions. During the evening, the atmosphere is a little loud, but it is a sports bar. During the day, however, it feels much more cozy and quiet. There is a TV at each booth, if you feel like watching cartoons or sports while eating. I'd love to go back to one, too bad they aren't up here in NY. Sadly, the nearest one is 150 miles away.

I wouldn't say I'm a "regular" or anything, but I've been going to Greene Turtle pretty often since I moved to Howard County two years ago and I can't believe I haven't reviewed it yet! I'm not a big fan of the national "chain" restaurants so this local chain suits me perfectly. It's casual, consistent, and there is definitely something on the menu for everyone. I usually stick with the basic bar food---appetizers and sandwiches. I love the chicken cheesesteak and the wings are great too. They have good happy hour specials, but the tables fill up quick so try to come early. TVs are all over the place and the dining booths even have their own mini TV---how cute! It's definitely a good spot to meet up for a drink or grab lunch. Prices are reasonable and the staff is pretty friendly.

  • Jack S.

I have been to lunch there at least 3 times. Food is pretty consistent. Nothing special, standard chain restaurant food (think Ruby Tuesdays) Service is prompt and friendly. Decor is as you would expect from a bar. Only complaint would be that my burger was overdone (medium should be mostly pink and mine had no pink) I would have sent it back but I was pressed for time and just went with it.

The only reason why I come to the Greene Turtle is for trivia on Wednesday nights. They have Heavy Seas beers on tap and that's very enjoyable, but that's about it. The food is alright, and the staff is hit or miss when it comes to service. I haven't been here outside of trivia.

One of the problems with being a Ravens fan in the DC area is that frequently the Ravens games are not broadcast. However, thats why bars buy Direct TV's Sunday Ticket! So when i saw that the Raven's preseason game was not on regular tv here, i called three local bars to see if they were showing it..... they weren't. Turns out, sunday ticket doesn't work for preseason. After extensive ressearch, we discovered the closest location showing the game was Howard County. Enter the Green Turtle. I had little to no expectations for this place. However i was really pleasantly suprised. It was not over crowded and had enough TVs that you could see the game no matter where you chose to sit. Being the best gf ever, i chose the seats that could see both the Ravens and the O's game so the bf didn't have to choose. Our waitress wasn't the most attentive, but it was crowded and she was busy and we weren't in any hurry. We started with beers... they have a great draft list! And we got the pretzels and Queso. The queso was nothing exciting, but the pretzels were warm and soft and really melted in your mouth. I really liked them! For dinner i chose the Steel City Salad. I think the idea was to make it like a Permanti Bros sandwich, piled high with steak, cheese and fries. However, they made a HUGE mistake. The steel city is Pittsburgh, yet the salad description advertises "Philly cheesesteak". Philly is not Pittsburgh! I was a little disappointed. My salad was pretty good. Not like overexciting, but definitely tasty. I loved the atmosphere. As the night went on it got more and more crowded, but the crowd was into the game. It was definitely fun! If i ever run into this problem again, i know where i will be!

I decided to give this place two stars just because their food isn't the worst I've ever had. This particular Green Turtle is by far the worst one I've ever gone to. I would recommend taking the extra mile to go to the one Hanover. The service here is so incredibly crappy and full of gossiping teenagers who sit around doing nothing. I literally had to wait over an hour just to get my check. Did I mention it was about 2pm in the afternoon on a weekday? (aka very dead) The sad part was there was a whole group of employees standing around the hostess stand doing absolutely nothing! Never have I ever tipped any place less that 20%, here I actually tipped less than 5%. I really didn't think they deserved any tip in my opinion.

New restaurant, always a lot of space. This seems a lot more grown up then some of the other green turtle chains i've been too. They still have the great burgers, and I enjoyed the peace for the business lunch

  • Timmy C.

I come here to get a decent crab cake sandwich and the occasional drink. It's really a sports bar with a lot of big screen tv's and a few bar arcade games. The dining area is nice and the booths have personal tv's that you can tune yourself. The food is also pretty decent. I already mentioned the crab cake sandwich but the wings are also good too. If you are from Columbia then this is a good place to meet old friends. It seems like everyone you know goes here.

The first thing I need to state is that I've never had any of their food. The second thing I should state is that I think that neither Greene Turtle nor Nottinghams in Columbia has potato skins. I'm pretty sure that's illegal. Maybe I'm jerk, but I really don't like either of these places. I've been to other Greene Turtle locations (which I would review if I could remember which was which...) and liked them very much. This place seems... lame. I guess this place is a restaurant, but I've only known it as a bar. Actually, I've only known it as a douche bar. This is where the douche-y local ultra-corporate and/or pretentious business&lit college wanks go to pop a collar or two and say, "Oh, no, I couldn't possibly do another shot of rail tequila". My gripe is only with the vibe and the usual crowd I find in there on a Friday night. That's why I won't rate it less than a three. The place itself is fantastic. The drinks are fairly priced, the lighting is great, the parking is great, the location is great (for locals), the staff is amazing, it's really clean, the bathrooms are the typical festering vomit pile that most bars and pubs have... I could go on and on with praise for the place itself. But I could also go on and on with how much I dislike (though don't hate) the local folkles that are always ALWAYS there after dark.

We go here after work for happy hour and for lunch. Lunch time is usually a little crowd, but there are still available tables and the service is usually good. After work for happy tends to get crowded, but I've never been when its terrible (read thurs, fri, sat night). They offer a wide variety of food, which makes this spot better then Nottinghams if you are going to have a drink and dinner. The food is pretty good for American style bar food. The prices are reasonable (think Benningans). The atmosphere is nice. There are plenty of TVs in the bar and each table has its own personal tv that can be controlled. My coworker got us hooked on this place by introducing us to the "Cowboy Burger" which is your basic burger (half pound?) with bbq sauce, bacon, and onion straws. Its a good burger! Add fries for $1 more. They have dart boards but I've never seen anyone playing (and there are tables in front of them) as well as bar video games, but no pool tables or shuffleboard. If you go here for happy hour, you might find it a bit hard to socialize--its loud and pretty crowded. Go to Michael's Pub or Sonomas (or, *shriek* Nottinghams) for a quieter atmosphere. Choose green turtle for more "lively" atmoshpere, decent food, and TVs for watching sports.

  • Adam T.

The food is just OK, but they do have a lot of TVs for watching the games.

  • Chuck K.

Good food, mostly American style menu. Great selection of adult beverages. Hard to beat for a sports bar with a lot of large flat-screen televisions throughout and smaller ones in each booth in the restaurant area that you can control. Very popular and often busy, it also seems to be a very popular night spot on weekends,

    (4)
  • Emily K.

The bartender was friendly and attentive. My burger was cooked perfectly as ordered. It was accompanied with kettle chips and a pickle spear. I really think that a burger should come with fries w/o having to pay extra...but, that's just my opinion

Why 5 stars? Because the main bartender there Jennifer is always on point and very friendly with all of her customers. Way to go Jennifer, keep up the outstanding customer service!

Great time.

A nice place for lunch... I think the menu selection is great and the atmosphere is pretty good too. I will have to come bac in the evening and check it out!

I haven't been here outside of trivia.

decent food and drinks...wed nite small crowd. had the southwest salad and hubby had the burger. the crispy onions on the salad were good, and the burger was good too. they had some kind of trivia going on, not very exciting, but it was a last minute pitstop.

horrible! dont eat here! from burgers to salad - they screw it up! i have the southwest salad it was the worst thing i've ever had. soggy lettuce, canned veggies, burnt chicken. digusting! dont waste your money!

  • Alph G.

    (3)
  • Aaron R.

    (4)

A nice place for lunch... I think the menu selection is great and the atmosphere is pretty good too. I will have to come bac in the evening and check it out!

  • Adam T.

The food is just OK, but they do have a lot of TVs for watching the games.

    (3)

Not much too say about a sports bar. Plenty of tv's and the beer prices were ok.

GROSS!!

  • Jeremy C.

Great time.

Greene Turtle is always awesome for football Sundays and now that I live in AZ, man I wish they shipped their crab dip & pretzels to Phoenix (AZ, not MD!). Greene Turtle (any of their locations) never seem to disappoint. Great drink specials and always a good time.

The bartender was friendly and attentive. My burger was cooked perfectly as ordered. It was accompanied with kettle chips and a pickle spear. I really think that a burger should come with fries w/o having to pay extra...but, that's just my opinion
