Family-owned and friendly. Try the Tom Yum or other Thai dishes--very good. Updated review: restaurant has new owners and service and quality has suffered. Try Peking Chef at Hickory Ridge instead.

I love the "chicken on a stick" here. No overly sweet sauce, like other places. The shrimp spring rolls are also good, with a decent amount of shrimp in the filling. Their shrimp fried rice is decent too. I haven't had anything else there but service is always friendly and quick. Make sure you get some of the house mustard for your spring rolls, spicy !

My beef and broccoli was horrible. I didn't want to go back and complain, but it really got me sick. Beef was dry and broccoli was white. I like the nice people over there but that was it for me. It was not right in every way. You just don't cook white broccoli and sell it to people thinking no one will say anything.

This is finally a Chinese place that is really really good in Columbia. The flavors are good, the time between order and ready is barely 10 minutes, and they seem genuinely pleased to have your business. I ordered the General Tso and Steamed Dumplings and both tasted great. The General Tso had good flavor with the right spiciness, and the dumpling sauce was quite good though I was surprised it was a little sour. This place is right next to the Harris Teeter that's hidden behind guildford rd. There's also a pizza shop, a cvs, a wine store, a McDonalds, and a restaurant called Corner Stable. p.s. I used to live in Baltimore County where there are plenty of good chinese places, but in Columbia, a good chinese place is extremely rare. Likely do to pf changs being stiff competition. As such, I am really excited to finally find quality chinese food in howard county.

Eaten here many times, the last time my sister and I both got food poisoning from eating beef and broccoli.

Beware this review is for take out and I always order the same thing. Call me crazy but I haven't had anything but the fried chicken, but in my defense it's really good! Especially with those hot sauce packets. The family that runs this place is always nice and I love ordering here! It's quick, easy, and right next to the liquor store. Nothing's better then chicken and beers! I think I'll eventually try the Chinese food, but I'm so hooked on those bags of chicken wings!

Holy, WOW! I don't know what is wrong with the 2 star reviewer...this place was amazing. I am also extremely picky about my Chinese and this exceeded my standards by far. The servings were huge, you can request white or dark meat chicken (my family requested white and the pieces were huge, juicy, and absolutely quality cuts - no weird bones or fat or other pieces to pick through). Also, you can get a "mock meat" to replace actual meat for any meal (I ordered sesame chicken with mock meat, and it was delicious!). And the rice is, of course, perfect. The appetizers were perfect (crackers, spring rolls). In the spirit of full disclosure, some table mates were less than satisfied with the eggplant dish (why would you get an eggplant dish? jeez), and someone else didn't think they got served enough vegetables (of course, you can always ask for a bit extra!). And lastly, but not least, the service was impeccable. We were served tea and water and our glasses never, ever ran dry. The food came out very quickly. The waitress was extremely pleasant. Was the dine in atmosphere perfect? No, the place looks a bit hole-in-the-wall. But was it worth it? ABSOLUTELY. The place was empty when I went (typical of the entire shopping complex, which has very few restaurants/shops and therefore few patrons), and I really hope they get good carry out business because they are definitely well above average and deserve to do decent business.

VERY mediocre food. The Shrimp Lo Mein was 80% noodles, 10% shrimp, 9% grease and very few wimpy pieces of veggie. The Orange Chicken was a .5 star dish. Not even 1 star. The egg rolls had a funny taste. The Moo Shu Chicken was the only redeeming dish. It was somewhat flavorful and had a mix of ingredients. Yes, the portions are pretty big, but why do you need a huge plate of sub-par food?

Food was pretty average. We got the General Tso's chicken and the Cashew Chicken. Both were lacking any flavor and had way too much oil in them. They need to step it up a couple of notches to get any new customers.

This place is good for two reasons. It's cheap and it is right by my crib. It's a small restaurant but pretty clean. It's always empty in here but that is good if your dining in because the service is always tip top. They actually have both chinese and thai dishes here so there is a little more variety then a normal chinese restaurant. I like the won ton soups and pu pu platters. We also get singapore noodles every now in then when we want to kick in a little spice. I also like the fact that they leave the hot mustard and duck sauce on your table for the entirety of the meal. So three stars because I think it is A-OK.

I am extremely picky about my Chinese- and coming from Philadelphia I already had my places where I liked to eat it and where I could trust to get GOOD food. It is by far my favorite here in Columbia. My co-workers, family, and friends all tend to love this place as much as I. It is a little sit down place as well as take out. They know me there by name as I go once a week... Nice clean place to dine- also quick with take out. Reasonable with price- and you can also request white meat instead of rib meat on certain dishes- I would go here over anywhere in Columbia for Chinese..

Keep looking for decent Chinese food in the area. Ordered tonight, Kung Pao, Lemon Chicken, and General Tso's. Egg rolls aren't seasoned particularly well, and none of their components really taste like what they are... cabbage, shrimp, etc. but they don't totally taste like cardboard either. Hot and sour soup was decent... again, a little weak on flavor, but the more I ate, the more I liked it. The fried rice that it came with had very little flavor, and that includes the frozen carrots/peas. Lemon chicken was fried/breaded well, the lemon sauce was decent, but very harsh, like typical lemon juice that you get from the store. Not even served with a real lemon. Kung pao was tasteless, using frozen broccoli chunks, chicken slightly on the soggy side, and a very oily sauce. General Tso's shared the sauce problem, and again, had a relatively weak taste.

Nothing awful ... Yet, nothing stellar either about this spot. It was more of a 'matter of convenience' for me to try it. I really had a craving for some good Chinese food and this came up on Yelp and since it's relatively close to my workplace, why not give it a shot, right?. Don't get me wrong, the serving was plentiful. I think it took me two days to finish (evidently, rice is NOT something they lack at this spot, It was practically, busting at the seems. NICE!!!!!!) But this makes me wonder - as it ALWAYS does, If I order a noodle dish/ combo, why in the world are you giving me rice? Give me extra noodles or some veggeis...SOMETHING/ ANYTHING other than rice. Why noodles AND rice?!?!? (never understood the logic w/ that. Anyway - I digress ...) 1) The Chicken Lo Mein - while plentiful and quite flavorful, was a bit .... ummm oily, shall we say, 2) The egg rolls were a little oily and super duper tiny! DELICIOUS but tiny. So tiny, I ordered another, as an appetizer. All that's to say, it's 'Meh' ... if ur in the area, and you want Chinese, go ... If you are traveling, don't go here. Go to "Hunan Manor" off Snowden River Parkway ... MUCH BETTER!!!! MY TIP for the 'to go' customer - When ordering a 'to go' order w/ a soda, the Sunkist is smaller than the other bottles (oz. wise) ... Beware!!!

I just had the Hunan chicken dinner, eggroll and hot and sour soup. Very, very bland across the board, even though I asked for medium to high spice. Surprising from a place named Hunan. Dining area was clean. I was the only one here for the entire hour, yet the two ladies I dealt with never checked back after serving the food. No glass of water, not particularly friendly, but not a bad experience. Just nothing special. I've had tastier Hunan chicken at a shopping mall food court, but the fried rice was good, the chicken cuts were good quality and the veggies fresh. All cooked just right, but so very tasteless. Even the hot and sour soup was bland, and lacked the usual pork pieces, spice and sour flavors. Maybe something else would be better, and they do offer Thai dishes as well. It was like eating with a head cold! LOL

Pretty good place that never seems busy. Their orange chicken is awesome. Their vegetarian chicken substitute is really good. They also have mock duck. When you're done, there is a Rita's near by for desert.

New Management. New Chef. And this is now, hands down, the best chinese food I have EVER eaten!! Ok, one exception is PFChangs (which I consider very, very good). But this little hole-in-the-wall place now gives PFChangs a run for their money, IMO. We ordered eggdrop soup, meat dumplings, chicken fried rice (asked for no veggies in the rice) and crispy beef (not spicy). Everything was made exactly according to the order. The eggdrop soup was excellent. The dumplings were excellent. The chicken fried rice was good enough for my 3 year old and 8 year old to eat ravenously. And my crispy beef was outstanding - not spicy, crispy on the outside, tender and lean on the inside and really good veggies thinly sliced, yummy sauce. Fresh and hot. I'm not sure when ownership of this place changed but I believe it was earlier this year. We went in during the summer and I noticed it had been remodeled. I wasn't happy with the wontons they had then (they weren't the good ones). All I said to the waitress was, "The wontons you used to have were really, really good.". They obviously take suggestions to heart. This time, they had the good wontons back. Good wontons + really good food = one of my favorite places to eat now. And I was never a fan of chinese food before. I actually hesitated to write this review because I don't want them to become so busy that I can't get a table. But, I figure, if they don't get the business, they'll go out of business (like so many other restaurants have). And then I won't get a table at all! I've eaten at several chinese restaurants in Columbia. There are none that I would go back to except this one. You're in for a real treat if you find your way to this place.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
