I'd give 4.5 stars if I could. This is a weekly staple for us. The food is great and incredibly affordable! My only complaint is that the quality is not consistent. Sometimes the chicken, yucca, and plantains are better than others. But we just can't stop going! We've branches out and tried the lomo saltado but I don't recommend it. The bistec dish is pretty good with the fries, egg, and plantain. The medium sauce is delicious and great with both the chicken and the yucca. Leftover plantains go great with oatmeal the next day! Or just by themselves. I'll keep coming here for sure!

This review is overdue. A friend of mine and I love this restaurant. The funny thing is, I don't even eat chicken! But they have an amazing black bean burrito, that as I type this, I now crave! And they have this dessert- this cookie that I absolutely recommend! I forget what it's called- but it's right at the register when you pay. Get one. Even if you're full. Take it with you and have it with coffee later. Anyways, I'm sure the chicken is good. It smells good, and based on everything I've had there I'm sure everything else is good too!

(7/3/2015) Went to a birthday party thrown by a Peruvian family and someone brought piles of takeout Pollo a la Brasa. It was very well-seasoned, great rub, "blackened," moist and tender. Great aji verde (green chili sauce) and aji amarillo (spicy chili mayo-based sauce) for dipping. I thought it was really delicious. Def putting Panka's on my list for an in-person visit.

This place really has it going on. I got coupons in the mail for Panka's last saturday. I picked them up on my way out the door when leaving with the intention to go to Home Depot and then get some lunch. My lunch plans suddenly changed when I saw the coupons... Sure, I'll give this place a try! I ordered the Panka's Sandwich. It was a delicious chicken sandwich with some of the most tender and flavorful chicken I've ever had on a sandwich. It was served on a really nice, soft roll with a nice piece of fancy lettuce (no iceberg or romaine here!) and a hunk of deep-red tomato. It also has some mayo-based sauce on it. Overall, this was amazing. I took it home and my girlfriend, who had been napping all afternoon, woke up from the delicious smell. I let her try some of the sandwich, and she loved it, too. (For 7.99 the sandwich came with fries, too - my coupon took $1 off) I also ordered fried plantains for myself and my girlfriend, knowing it's one of her favorite cooked-fruit dishes. Those were also amazing and devoured quickly by the both of us. Service at Panka's was fast, accurate, and super friendly! Go in and try it - you won't be disappointed.

Came here after hearing good comments on the food. Ordered the Ceviche Mixto and the portion is one of the smallest I have tried in Baltimore, taste was subpar, it looked good only but not really satisfied at all. I gave it 2 stars, one for presentation and one for trying to make Ceviche. Fish and seafood was swimming in pepper, whoever made it has no idea on food flavor balancing. Maybe got only 8 pieces of fish. If. I come back, will try the chicken next, if I get convinced. I uploaded the picture with the white plate so everyone can see the excess of pepper.

What a gem located in a small strip mall in Cockeysville, MD. If you've never had Peruvian chicken you're missing out. This chicken is moist, tender and full of flavor. The sauce is excellent. I do not know what it is made of and it isn't the green sauce that you see served at other places like this. The sauce here is white and has a slightly different taste but it is great. The sides are good too but the main focus is on the chicken and other meat products. I cannot wait to go back and try the carne asada. I saw a table next to me eating it and it looked excellent! Thanks for reading my review. This review is based off of my personal experience and opinion.

Pankas is a clean, compact restaurant in the shopping center with the Food Lion in Cockeysville. It's just been open for a month. The owner was very charming and nice - he made some suggestions while I was looking at the menu. He is originally from Lima, Peru and his chef is also Peruvian. This is authentic. I wanted to start with a good baseline, so I tried the quarter chicken white with 2 sides (fried plantains and black beans & rice). It came with 2 creamy dipping sauces - a mild creamy sauce and a spicier pepper creamy sauce. The chicken was tender and juicy, plus the herb marinade/rub was just perfect - not too salty. The skin was nicely browned up with a little bit of chew to it. Yum. I have a weakness for plantains and these were ripe yet not mushy fried plantains. The beans and rice were cooked perfectly and were a nice complement to the chicken. I tried the purple corn juice (chicha morada) over the passion fruit juice. It was sweet and had a spice undertone (like cinammon or something I couldn't quite distinguish). It was sweet, but I'll opt for trying the passion fruit next time. They have ceviche and rachi on the menu. Per the owner, rachi is a marninated beef heart that is charbroiled. Sounds intriguing!

My co-workers and I have made this place a regular stop for lunches. I haven't had anything except the rotisserie chicken. Chicken is well seasoned, moist and delicious! The chicken comes with 2 sides. The best side is fried plantains - don't go here without trying them! I usually pair the plantains with a side of rice & black beans. They also offer cole slaw, fried rice and vegetables. The veggies are just basically frozen mixed vegetables, so unless you really must have vegetables, skip them. I do wish that they had a true soda fountain. They offer a choice of two peruvian juices, or a variety of canned sodas or bottled water.

YELP DIRECTIONS ARE WRONG. when you get to where the directions send you go down the hill about a mile there will be a food lion in your right it's next door. Well worth the trip. My whole family enjoyed it. My daughter had lomo saltado which she loved. I had the carne asada and my husband had the arroz con pollo. All were delicious we will be back!

If you want exceptional value, great quality and delicious food you need to try out this great authentic Peruvian cuisine. The chicken is charcoal grilled all day long in the restaurant. You can choose from many different side dishes. They also have some great beef there as well. Try out the steak and cheese sandwich, chicken cheese steak or chicken wrap. Full of juicy flavor. But there is so much more. Try out there Peruvian Specialities menu which includes fish, shrimp and calamari. If you're really a hard core connoisseur of this cuisine try out the marinated beef heart dish Anticuchos or Rachi (Beef marinated tripe) all charbroiled. I cannot say they are my style but where else can you get authentic Peruvian foods? They have 8 different side dishes which include: fried yucca, rice/beans, coleslaw, fried rice, fried plantain, house salads, steamed veggies and french fries. Located in Yourktowne Plaza on Cranbrook Rd this is a great place to get a wonderfully delicious meal for the family for just a few bucks. Far superior to going over to the Giant and buying a flame broiled chicken.

Finally, a Peruvian chicken place in cockeysville. Food is okay/good at best. I wish the fried yuca was deep-fried a little longer and was crispier. The chicken tends to be on the smaller/drier side. I've only been during slow hours so maybe the chicken wasn't freshly made? I'm sure it would've been better if it was fresh. I also wish they had more sides to choose from and more sauces. I'm used to going to Peruvian chicken restaurants and receiving 3 sauces: yellow, white, and green. They only give you two here. It's also be nice if they had the green habanero hot sauce like other Peruvian places. Panka's is good & I would go back, but it's not somewhere that I am dying to go back to.

I've been to Panka's twice and can't wait to go back. During my first visit I tried their Lomo saltado and it was tasty. It was well seasoned and plated in a manner that just made you want to try it as soon as it was out down on the table. I also order the Alfajor. It was sweet and crumbly. Delicious! Today I tried their chicken. To be honest, I was initially a little displeased because it looked dry, but once i tried i was happy to find out it was still very flavorful. Hopefully, I just happened to catch them on an off day and next time their chicken will be more juicy. I think that will make it perfect! I also loved that the green sauce that comes with the chicken was made with huacatay. I don't find that in many places. I'm so happy theres finally a Peruvian restaurant in the area, and I look forward to coming back for more delicious food.

I've been here 4 times already . 2 times in one weekend.i had to drive 30 min from home, but is all worth it. I love this place.my boyfriend is from India and he loves pescado a lo macho, when we came back it didn't taste as good as the first time, kind of sour, but still he finished .I would like consistency in their preparation.

I've been at Pankas twice now and the last time I decided to try something new and order Arroz con mariscos which is a seafood fried rice with spices. Rice wasn't too spicy. It came with a good variety of seafood however the shrimp was so small, I thought it could be a little more flavorful for the price too. Chicken is flavorful could be a little moist. Both times I went, I ordered a side of fried plantains, which I have to say are my favorite at Panka's. Other than that I don't have much to say about their food. Apart from the food, other reason I only gave them three stars is that they got my order wrong somehow, when I only ordered two things. The girl didn't even apologize when I had to go back in and asked for the complete order, instead she asked me to wait another five minute to put plantains in a box (that has already been prepared). I liked their plantains so much, I waited patiently with no complaints.

Best Peruvian/Bolivian my wife and I have found in the baltimore metro area. My wife lived in Bolivia for a year and I have traveled in Bolivia and Peru. Phenomenal chicken, but also the really authentic stuff like anticuchos and lomo saltado. I grew up in timonium and live downtown now and this is one place where the burbs win out. Not too fancy, but clean and fun interior. Overall, great break from the standard chain fare.

Pankas has unique food and I totally recommend coming at least once. After coming a few times I have gotten tired of it and don't come so often any more. The food is good, but it doesn't make up for the strip mall seating arrangement and unremarkable service and price.

Got a quarter chicken white meat with 2 sides to go. The chicken was dwarfed by the sides, not because they were massive, the chicken was that small. The wing was in 2 pieces and shriveled. The meat had a decent taste but not anywhere near on par with Chicken Rico in Highlandtown, it was unfortunately dry as it looked to have been sitting for a while, this was at lunch too. The green "spicy sauce' barely had a bite and was very creamy, it also had an odd caraway seed flavor. The beans tasted good but it was more of a pile of rice with beans on top, the cole slaw serviceable. Was excited to find this since I work in Hunt Valley but I would probably not go back.

I've been here a couple times now and the food has been equally great both times. The first time ordered the pollo saltado and the second time i tried the limo saltado....both delicious! The meat is so well seasoned and tender. My only critique is that i wish they had sides of veggies or a better salad. The veggies they offer are probably just a frozen pack of corn and peas; other than that, food is delicious! Authentic Peruvian!

My husband and I went there b/c he's been dying for arroz con pollo, since he's a native New Yorker, but there are none in Cockeysville (that we know of). So, we saw this place when it first opened a few years ago, but never had the nerve to go in and try it. Well, today is the day. I ordered the chicken steak. (Not very Peruvian. :)) My husband ordered the 1/2 rotisserie chicken with black beans, fried rice and plantains. First of all, I thought the dishes were pricey, but we said what the heck! Anyway, the restaurant was very clean and the service was friendly. The chicken cheesesteak was very good. The chicken was very tender and moist. Being that I thought it was over-priced, needless to say, it was overstuffed and quite messy. They had two, different sauces in little cups that I tried. One tasted like cilantro and the other I couldn't make out, but it was yellow, but I put the yellow one on my cheesesteak and it was delicious! My husband thoroughly enjoyed his meal as well. I tasted his chicken and he thought it was going to be dry, but it wasn't. I tasted the chicken. It was well-seasoned and moist and the skin was crispy. The next time we go, which my husband says is a definite, I would like to try a traditional, Peruvian dish and/or the rotisserie chicken with rice and beans. When I've driven by there, the place doesn't seem like it gets many customers, but that should change!

Some coworkers had stopped in here for lunch so I thought we'd give it a try. My wife had the grilled chicken wrap and I had the Bistec a lo Pobre. All in all it was fine, nothing particularly spectacular but not bad either. The grilled chicken was a little salty but still well seasoned. The Bistec was good, I like the fried eggs, steak, and fries combo but the egg was a little over done. I like the yolks runny. I will give this place another try in order to give the chicken a go.
