I'll go ahead and give this place four stars. I personally prefer it to cafe spice. I just think it is a little less americanized. Staff is super friendly, and funny but their service lacks at times. There never seems to be anyone actually dining in the restaurant....which is a little weird. I 've eaten in during brunch buffet, and it's always pretty good, but mostly I utilize this joint for carry out. If they tell you it will be 30 min, it will actually be an hour. Just be prepared. You'll find this is strange, as when you show up to pick up the dinner there will literally be nobody in the restaurant, and no evidence of any other orders. If you are willing to put up with this casually, as I am, you will always go home with a pretty decent Indian meal.

Been here twice and overall a good place for lunch buffet. I was blown away the first time with the collection of dishes and the taste, oh my. The second time the menu was the same but the taste wasn't. One of the servers said their actual chef was out that day so they had a substitute chef. Service was efficient and friendly. Very reasonable.

Let me preface this by saying I have only tried India Palace for their lunch buffet. That said, I really like this place. The buffet has quite a lot of options including appetizer style items such as vegetable to pekoras, as well as dessert featuring galub jamin and rice pudding. On any given day there are about 10-12 savory options, ranging from slow cooked chickpeas, okra with spices (excellent dish), and of course everyone favorites such as chicken tikka masala, curry chicken, tandoori chicken and saag. Both the chicken curry and chicken tikka are only white meat, which I'm sure is most people's preference for those types of dishes. The sauces are both rich in flavor and great on top of basmati rice. I also really like the tandoori chicken, which is the spicy rubbed pieces of drumstick and chicken thigh then charred on the grill. Combine that with the mint chutney and you have quite an explosion of flavor. I also appreciate that their saag is usually just plain or might feature potatoes, because I am really not a fan of paneer (the cheese). Everything I try at India palace is always good, regardless of whether I am familiar with the dish or not. The price also can't get any better - $9.95 for all you can eat!

I ordered my meal with eat24 at 6:30 pm. After an hour and fifteen minutes I decided to call the restaurant. I called from the app and my call was answered but the guy who answered put the phone down and proceeded to help customers. I called again and the same thing happened. I then messaged eat24 and they too were contacting the restaurant. I then tried to call the them from my home phone, the call was answered and he explained that my food had left and was on the way. After another fifteen minutes I call the restaurant and he says there was a problem with eat24. He assured me that the food was on the way. It's been two hours and I send a message to eat 24 to cancel the order. I call the restaurant again and let them know that I do not want the food and to cancel my order. I spoke to eat24 and they explained that they initially delivered my food to another apt in my building and not once did they call me to let me know what happened. I will never order from this place again. I only gave them one star, because that's the very minimum.

On a Monday in June, the kabobs were cold in parts of the pan, like they had been in the refrigerator. When I told the server, she went over and stirred it a bit. Pechora also was rubbery, like it had been heated in the oven. I thought Indian places prided themselves on freshness, but these were clearly leftovers. It appears that the new owners are more interested in saving a few dollars than in putting out a top quality product. I will try them one more time before I give up on them.

I was incredibly pleased with ordering from this place. I knew they were around not too far from my home, but I've never eaten there. I think they're a newcomer to the delivery world but I welcome them with open arms. The driver called me for directions and was incredibly cheerful. The food was amazing. I ordered my usual Lamb Koorma which was incredible. The appetizer snack pack was delicious and offered in 3 spicy levels. I got medium spicy and it was just right. I could have gone spicier but for a trial run it was perfect. As far as I know this is the only indian place in the Cockeysville area that offers delivery and I'm so happy. Welcome to delivering in cockeysville India Palace! I'm so happy they're there.

The "Palace" is not what it used to be. The entire experience including food and staff has become very mediocre at best. The food seems to be getting spicier but not in a good way. It's like the chef is just adding hot pepper to everything...spices should be layered and add to the flavor. Our server was hovering to the point of annoyance. I could understand if the place was crowded and he was tactfully trying to turn over our table --- but there were plenty of available tables. I miss the gentlemen who used to be there...not sure if he's gone but he hasn't been there the last few times I've been in and it's just not the same.

I've been here 3 times. I enjoyed the food each time. Really good curries. I've only been for lunch for the buffet option but I'm a fan of everything on the buffet. The waiter even convinced my youngest son to try a few dishes and he liked. That was most impressive!!!

This restaurant has reasonable food. Though you don't know if you will get fresh food or not(its inconsistent). The competition with newly opened cafe spice has helped in getting a place on Friday night(previously impossible). As far as service, you will either love it or hate it. The chicken biryani is good, if you want a take out.

Compared to the other Indian Food buffet option in the Hunt Valley area (next to Starbucks) this is the clear winner. Not only is the lunch buffet MUCH less expensive, its served in a nicer environment (no dirty towels for table cleaning here!) AND the food is much more flavorful. I travel a great deal, and go for Indian buffets when I can find them...I would rate this second only to Bombay Bistro in Austin Tx for food quality and flavor in my nationwide survey so far. On Cranbrook right off of York Road near the Target Store.

We love Indian food. But not here. It's tasty but very, very Americanized- i.e., get ready for a sweet oil slick. We've been here a few times, hoping that we caught it on a bad day- and there's not much Indian up our way; Kathmandu Kitchen delivers to us, and they're good, but we like to check out variations on the theme; we're happy Cafe Spice moved up our way! Without fail, we have serious digestive issues due to grease factor every time we've eaten here. They are big believers in using cream and butter, and lots thereof, and boy do they use that stuff! Even in the vindaloos, which normally aren't greasy at other places, there was a real slick of oil. Some people love this place; for us, it's way, way too greasy and rich.

Solid choice for Indian food. Walked in and saw a few diners........beats the lack of crowd at Cafe Spice....assumed this was a good sign. The complimentary cracker appetizer was pleasant. Similar to Cafe Spice, but Cafe Spice's was better. We ordered the chicken korma, chicken tikka masala and some sorta eggplant dish. All were rather tasty. As usual.....WHERE IS THE MEAT? Every time I go for Indian food around here, I get 3 pieces of chicken and 3 CUPS of sauce. The rice was good, just rice....nothing spectacular. We also ordered the garlic naan (or equivalent...it had another name) and roti. The roti was ehhh and the garlic naan was ehhh as well. I have yet to find a place that has better garlic naan than Trader Joe's. It is weird, best naan ever. RUN THERE NOW!....I take that back....India Gate in Laurel has great naan....too bad the place is kinda filthy.....but the service makes up for that....sweetest service....but that is another review in itself. Overall, decent service.....okay food.....nice 'freebies' like the cracker thing and the weird donut ball things that arrived with the bill. They were like half fried donuts that were soaked in a oil/powdered sugar mixture. Wayyyy to oily and sweet. Nice gesture though. Cafe Spice has tastier food in my opinion, but this will work in a bind. Indian food is best for buffet it seems, better portion control (or lack there of hehe)

I have been there once, and I actually liked the food. We are from Los Angeles, and we have exceptional Indian Restaurants In LA; so I am quite familiar with good Indian dishes. Some people talked about the place being too quiet, when we went it was so busy that the owner / or manager (?) came out and started helping out. (There was a large birthday party crowd there). We had read the yelp reviews (some good and some bad); but decided to try it out for ourselves and was actually surprised how decent the food was (for Maryland); we are going back tonight for dinner. Also, the waiter and the manager were very friendly and apologetic that they were too busy; they even brought out complimentary sweet deserts and drinks for our two young children (8 and 5 years old).

Very sub-standard, non-exciting Indian lunch buffet. Unfortunately, it's probably the best Indian buffet in Timonium/Cockeysville/Towson area. Maybe Kathmandu can do better. I just didn't get the sense that the food had high quality ingredients or was made with much thought or effort. Usually the place is close to empty whenever I go.

I'm a repeat customer. The food is good enough to keep me coming back for more. I can't believe that I never started going to this place until recently. I really missed out on some pretty good Indian food (there really isn't many Indian food places around the Cockeysville/Timonium Maryland area). The customer service is little above average. I haven't had any rude or disrespectful waiters, most everyone has been friendly. The only possible downside is that it sometimes takes them a little long to get the food out to you (that's why I'm not giving this place 5 stars, other than that the food gets 4.5 out of 5 stars). I do find myself waiting a few minutes longer for my food than at other places. **It's not that bad though if you don't mind waiting** I would definitely recommend this place if you're not rushed for time and are in the area looking for some Indian food.

I have been to at least 6 other Indian Restaurants within 10 miles. Nothing exceptional about the food but nothing bad. In fact, the sauces were a little thicker than most (positive) although the vegetable somosa tasted like mush instead of having whole peas and hunks of chick peas. The reason for giving this place two stars ( I was thinking about 1 star) instead of an average of 3 stars is because the staff was absolutely non-friendly and rude. Lat year we tried the restaurant out and it was the same way. We will not return. I have found that the other Indian Restaurants in the the Baltimore area are all friendly - NOT HERE!

Where are you supposed to go on a Sunday night in Baltimore to get Indian food?? I tried to get a menu online but it was not accessible, so I went for the walk in. The place had a nice crowd for a late Sunday evening. The girl behind the counter said it would be a half hour to forty five minutes wait, after looking back at the crowd in the dining room I did not think it would take that long, but I also respected the fact that the chef wanted to make the food as opposed to make a D99 on the menu... So, off to the chairs I went. What did I do in the meantime, you may ask?? Expert pictures of the menu, thank you ;)... The waiter did come over and let me know that I would get a menu with my to-go order, which was nice, but the size of the font on that menu would not be readable on here so... enjoy the menu ;). They actually prepare the food at this location, so keep that in mind when you are looking at your watch. It was one of those moments of me asking myself, do I really have someplace to be?? If I wanted to see the first pitch of the 8:00pm game then I should have left earlier than 7:30 to get dinner... Relax, enjoy some conversation and have some good food. "The Good" - The staff is friendly, professional and above all cool. The waiter joked with the people that he knew, spoke respectfully to someone's parents and handed off some candy to the munchkin that was fascinated by the fountain in the corner... nice job. The folks here are genuinely happy to see you. - The food was very good, flavorful but was not out to hurt you. There was spice when you asked for it but the majority of the flavor came when you are eating and wondering why is it so hot in here?? - The naan was delicious and had the great "almost crisp" on one side and the smooth side ready to get dipped into whatever sauce accompanied your main dish. - I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, naan and Kheer. The main dish came with a container the same size as the main entree and everything was delicious. - They cater ad I think have room to hold some people as well. - Left side market, right side restaurant. The grocery on the left side of the space allows you to get some authentic ingredients to try and tackle some recipes at home. "The Meh" - The website is broken. Lets work on that one ;). "The Bad" - Nothing really bad.

The food was average. Our server was surly. And two tables with young children thought it was appropriate to let their kids run around the restaurant playing hide and seek...and the management did nothing to stop it. Given that Cafe Spice is less than a mile away and 5000 times better, and the Ambassador Dining Room is less than 10 miles away and 10000 times better, I don't know why anyone would ever go to India Palace. We went because a friend raved...and trust me, I'm going to have a conversation about that!

Don't be fooled by the sketchy store front. This place is GOOD. The food is perfectly seeasoned and tasty. The naan is warm and good. The wait staff is very considerate and observate. The only downside is that service slow. My fiance and i observed that there is only one service cart. Needless to say, this slows everything down. Despite we will continue to visit this place! The food is definitely worth it.

I am a repeat customer for lunch. The lunch buffet has plenty of choices and the food is fresh and warm and has okay taste. The restaurant is kind of dingy and dated inside. It's not my favorite place to go but the food is good.

I will fully admit that I am biased towards India Palace... it was the first place I ever sampled Indian cuisine, and every place I've tried ever since has been in comparison. The food here is soooo good- very tasty and worth the price. There is a decent variety of dishes available, and their lunch/brunch time buffet is without doubt worth the visit. Sometimes the service is kind of slow, but it's always very friendly. The front is a little "eh" looking, the inside isn't anything special, and I've seen much nicer bathrooms, but in my opinion, the food completely outweighs any aesthetic issues. In particular, I recommend the Aloo Naan, Palak Paneer, Masala tea to drink, and then Gulab Jamun for dessert... you will not regret it!

First let me say, I've been ordering from Kathmandu for years now. I always get tandoori chicken which comes with a "side" of rice in a container as large as the entree. They also include a side of masala sauce which I appreciate because it can be a pretty dry meal. Now, where I work, this place is closer and we don't have long to pick up lunch. I called it in for a coworker to pick up. I got tandoori chicken (10.99) and made sure it came with rice. I decided to ask for a side of masala sauce because I'd never eaten from this place so I didn't want to assume it would be included. My coworker returned and handed me my receipt... $18.51!? I immediately called them. Took three phone calls to get anyone. They finally answered and I questioned the charge. The gentleman said, "You got 1/2 size tandoori chicken and with tax and a side of sauce..." I immediately cut him off and asked how much I was charged for sauce.. Wait for it... SIX DOLLARS! Six mother freakin' dollars for a side of sauce that comes free when you order from Kathmandu... And I told him that too. He told me he would give me a discount on my next order. I told him I didn't think I'd be back. Overall the food was ok, Kathmandu, Indigma, etc. are all much better. I'm really just appalled that I just paid almost $20.00 for a subpar lunch on a normal weekday... OH! I almost forgot to add, I asked if both dishes were served with rice when I ordered and was told they were. When the food arrived, we only received one side of rice... We split it which would have been fine if my coworker would have received more of her shrimp masala. The portion size was extremely small and mostly sauce. I only took a little rice because I felt bad that she had basically nothing to eat. Never again.

I have been to all of the Indian restaurants on the York road corridor and this is the best! The atmosphere could be a little better but the food is outstanding. I would rank it as one of the top five of all the Indian restaurants in the country, and I have lived in thirteen states and eaten Indian food in England so I know what I am taking about!

3.5 Stars The Good: *Great Service *Funny staff *Great Dishes...some The not so Good: *This place was empty on a Friday night...Eerie! *My Tandor chicken lacked flavor *Umm again, this place is way too quiet I must say, I love indian food and the food, besides my tandori chicken, was great! I was jealous of the other two people I was with because their food looked so great. Mine was rather bland. I will definitely come back here, maybe for carry-out tho. It was weird how quiet it was in there. They eventually turned on the music, thank goodness, but I like a great atmosphere for my dinner on a Friday night, but that's just me. The waiter was great, and really funny.

This is a once a week experience for me & has been for at least two years. The food is good and fresh and Michael greets me by name. This is a great place to meet friends for lunch. The buffet items don't change much, but I like what they have so it doesn't matter.

Three and a half stars. This was a weekend lunch buffet experience, and we didn't venture into the affiliated store next door. Atmosphere was pleasant-- great service, dressy decor, nonobtrusive music. Fairly small restaurant, maybe ten tables. The mirrored wall works as an optical illusion though. Lamb curry was the star of the dozen entrees offered. Tandoori chicken was okay, a tad dry. The fried chicken and chutney was a close second flavor wise. Vegetable samosas were okay. Standard naan, etc. Basmati was boring. Not terrible, but I've had some spectacular basmati elsewhere. Despite being very basic, plain, and rice-based, the kheer was fantastic. Cleansed the palate wonderfully.

We entered for the lunch buffet at about 2:15. The male host told us the buffet would close in about 15 minutes. We said great. We will eat. As we entered the line to get food the male host said: " I will get a box." We asked why. He answered that the restaurant "must be closed in 15 minutes" and that dining-in was not an option. All the platters on the buffet appeared to have been freshly made and overflowing with food. We told the male host we would leave as we were not there just to get take-out. We could have easily taken the food we wanted from the buffet, and eaten at a leisurely pace allowing them to close the buffet. It seems odd that in this economy our money would be turned down from a restaurant that looked to have had few patrons so far that day. We will not return.

First of all, I hope there is zero star available. This restaurant doesn't deserve an one star. I can not believe this place's customer service. I had nothing but bad experiences. The waiter is very rude, arguing with the customers. Please do yourself a favor and stay away from this place. Do NOT purchase their gift card because they will NOT honor, and they put the blame on me for trying to use it on a carry out order. No exclusion stated at the purchase, but they come up with all the excuses when you try to use their gift card. Their food was not so good comparing to other Indian places either. GOOD LUCK of staying in business this way.

We have been to this restaurant a number of times and I've decided that I really don't want to go back again. The food is ok. Cheap prices (with a $15 Restaurant.com certificate). The thing is, I am really turned off by the dingy interior. I just don't have confidence in their food preparation because of that. I think that the nail in the coffin is really the service. One of the servers is just not friendly (bordering on rude). If they were to remodel and step up their game a bit, I'd be willing to give them another shot. I am just really turned off right now.

This is usually my go-to place for sit-down and buffet style Indian food. I haven't had any bad experiences here. Food is tasty, prices are decent. The ambiance is a little dark and dated, otherwise not too bad.

Typical decor, not really a romantic or showy place but a great lunchtime buffet and decent evening menu which is fairly priced and pretty good quality. Service is pretty good too. I wouldn't necessarily say four stars though more of 3.5 For much better go to the Mughal Gardens in Mount Vernon Area of Baltimore.

India Place offers solid northern Indian cuisine. The selections on the menu don't venture from what you'd expect, and food isn't as highly spiced as it could be, but the food is well-crafted and satisfying. We've eaten in and taken out. Since the dining room isn't transcendent (but it's not bad, either) and the take-out experience is so good, we favor the latter: the food is always ready when they say it will be, and without prompting they include chutneys with orders of papadum, raita, and plenty of attractively presented basmati. Our orders can be large, but they've never made an error. I consider India Palace to be an oasis in the desert - they are an enjoyable alternative to the predominately bleak food offerings in and around Cockeysville.

Been going here for years. Food has always been pretty good but the service has gotten increasingly worse. I'm here right now and when we got here more than half of their tables were open yet they made us wait 25 min for no reason. After they sat us we sat for another 12 min before anyone even came to our table. When I asked for wine glasses the woman said sure then continued to clean off tables for 15 min. Finally someone else brought them after I asked them. It is not a matter of them being too busy either n not having enough people working. There are only 3 other tables right now and we are the only ones who haven't received our food yet. Meanwhile I've seen four people on the floor, two of which have just been standing around while we sit here waiting for someone to take our order, with open bottles of wine we brought but no glasses. Pathetic. Cant wait to see how long it takes to get our food. Too bad cause their food's pretty good. Probably should just stick to carry out if you really want to try this place

I love eating at India Palace whenever I have the craving. First time I've ever tried Indian food and I'm hooked, but I've only eaten from the buffet. I live about 30-45 minutes away but sometimes I had gone out of my way to eat there! I give it 4 stars because I feel like something is missing from that place. Other than that, the staff is really nice, the food is perfect. Though I do wish the buffet time frame was longer! :)

I've only ever eaten off of the buffet but it's always enjoyable. The staff is friendly and they are always especially nice to our baby. My favorite dish on the buffet is the vegetable korma. It has sweet potatoes in it. Yum! The kheer is just right. I deducted a star because the raita isn't as good as it could be and that is one of my main draws to an Indian place.

This place is infuriating. The food is really solid, the decor is nice, they feature a nice buffet, but I get the impression they could be so much more. It just seems to me if they had a savvier businessperson running things they've have the place packed every night, kind of like Schezuan House off Seminary and York. It's too bad.

This was a great restaurant. It was quiet and the lunch buffet was very good and diverse. Good place to have a quick lunch

Worst Indian restaurant in the area. Food is bland, unhealthy and unhygienic
