Went for the $9.99/person lunch buffet and came away stuffed, satisfied, and knowing I'll be back there for more. The strip mall is run down, the interior is also in need of updating and a bit poorly lit. Like another reviewer said they've only got 1 server during lunch but it wasn't very busy. The buffet is on an island and you can pick & choose from a variety of rolls - no nigiri style sushi. The yaki-tori (chicken on skewer) was great, and I would highly recommend this.

I can't believe yum yum sauce didn't exist in my life until I was 28! So, as a child, I was pretty picky. I would eat ground meat, but not steak. If I ate anything that made me even remotely feel not good in anyway, I would never touch it again. So one bad hibachi experience as a child and that meant no hibachi for me ever again. Despite that, I bought a Groupon for Ginza since my husband likes hibachi, and just planned on getting sushi. This was stupid. The first time we went, my ADD was entertained by watching the chefs chop stuff up and light things on fire. I got sushi (which was fine, but nothing to write home about) and stared longingly at my husband's steak and chicken and fried rice and yummy veggies. And then I ate some. And then we had to come back. The next time we came back, I got the same chicken/steak combo which was just as delicious as my husband's was the first time, except even more so because I used a ton of yum yum sauce. Hoping to try their $10 sushi lunch buffet at some point!

Love the sushi buff for lunch during the week. The sushi is always being freshly rolled and put out. The chicken teriyaki sticks are part of the buffet. Hibachi is so on point

I went here because I had a groupon. It was small. And they were understaffed. We had to wait a while for a chef.... we also had to hunt the waitress down to get a refill. The meal was fair... the chicken teriyaki was on the dry side. Make sure to give at least a 15% tip or the waitress will bring it to your attention and pull out a calculator (very tacky). I probably won't go back

Been here a few times for the buffet, the sushi is fresh and delicious. They always bring out tempura, yakitori, and other great Japanese foods. It's a small place with usually one waitress running the whole show, but hasn't been an issue for me.

Delicious sushi and amazingly nice staff. Our waitress was helping another group at the time our sushi was ready so the chef came out and handed us ours instead. They were very on top of our drinks and were very, very nice. The atmosphere is very nice and quiet, and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. I noticed a lot of other reviews talking about not having their Groupon honored, but I too came with one and we were completely satisfied. They let us use our Groupon and told us exactly what the Groupon covered, which was the majority of the choices.

Went here last night for dinner because I had a groupon. Average hibachi chef. Nothing outstanding. Nice people which is always a plus. However the food just simply was not good. My girlfriend ordered sushi and it was just average. Much better places in the area for Sushi. However, this places gets 3 stars from me because of the lunch buffet. 10 dollars and unlimited sushi. The sushi from the buffet has always been much better than what my girlfriend had last night. My teriyaki chicken was bland and the soup was just vile. It was chicken flavored salt water. Id go here again if i had another groupon given as a gift but from now on, Ill just stick to the sushi lunch buffet.

I have visited Ginza before and prefered only going for lunch considering the lunch prices are about 1/2 the dinner prices and you get the same amount of food. The food is good but I'm not a fan of Ginza anymore... I bought 2 Groupon vouchers for Ginza in Cockeysville which was $30 for $60 worth of food for 4 people. The fine print says the voucher is not valid on holidays, sushi lunch specials or happy hour specials. A Groupon user asked if the voucher can be used for lunch and the answer was "Yes". For both the Fine Print and the answer to the question, I was under the impression that I could use the voucher for lunch paying lunch prices however this was not the case. I went with 4 other adults during lunch on a non-holiday. We were told that to use the Groupon voucher, we would have to order from the dinner menu. The person that was seating us said that is what her manager told her. I showed her the voucher and said it doesn't say that on there and they should honor the voucher per the terms but she would not. She again said we have to order from the dinner menu since that is what her manager said and she said we can contact Groupon to get a refund. The manager was not there at the time. My group and I left and went somewhere else to get food. I have since requested to get refunds on both the vouchers I purchased. I will probably not be back to Ginza.

If you want butchered Japanese food come here. You are better off buying sushi at a gas station. The chicken broth soup tasted like tap water. The supposed chicken teriyaki was totally insipid and since when is it served with fried rice???!!! I should've walked out when I saw two measly souls in the big dinning room with about 99% of the tables empty. By the way, I am not Japanese just a foodie.

This is a hidden treasure of Cockeysville Their $10 sushi buffet is AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS and FRESH!!! Fresh sushi is made behind the counter and is constantly brought out to the buffet table. The variety of the buffet is amazing; maki, tempura, cream cheese, avocado, banana. I love all of the different roll options and the best part of it you can eat a lot. I hope the quality at Ginza never changes and they continue to make delicious fresh sushi.

I LOVE this place!! It is everything you would expect from a Japanese Steak House! The food is so amazing, I taste it in my dreams. I took my family in for dinner on a rainy, miserable week night and we were the only people in the restaurant, but they still put on a great show. As a nice little bonus, we found the chefs in the back of the restaurant practicing their egg-spinning techniques with golf balls and they let my daughters try it out too. What fun! I've never tried the sushi, but the salad dressing is 1,000 times better than the donkey spit they put on the salads at Sakura.

I am not a fan of oriental food as a rule. But this place breaks that rule for me, and has gone on to be a personal addiction, I have to go at lest 2 to 3 times a month. I am glad they are mid level price (17 to 22 a trip including drink and tip, or I would go broke) I don't recommend getting both the Hibachi and sushi at the same time, there will be just to much food to finish. I go for the chicken at the Hibachi all the time.

Their sushi lunch buffet on Sundays is a hidden gem in cockeysville! So much food for so cheap! Includes miso soup and endless house salad. They have a variety of sushi (raw maki and cooked specialty maki rolls). Also serve tempura vegetables, spring rolls, edamame, sesame red bean buns, and chicken on a stick. The only con is that there are only 4 tables in this section + sushi bar. Summary: great food for $10!

This review applies to the hibachi side of the restaurant, not the sushi bar. I didn't expect a really nice, quiet Japanese restaurant in the middle of a strip mall in Cockeysville, of all places, but that's exactly what we got. My boyfriend took me here for my birthday, knowing that I really like stir-fry and sushi, and he couldn't have made a better choice than this. The service was impeccable; we were seated very quickly and menus brought out before we'd even gotten settled. There weren't really many people here, only one or two, but it was a weekday afternoon during rush hour so that could have been the reason. I'm sure that it wasn't the food, because the food was dynamite. We both had teppenyaki (I had scallops, he had chicken). The chef was a really young guy with a big smile that cooked up a storm on that grill, let me tell you. The huge fire that flared up did scare me a bit, though, probably because it was totally unexpected. It sure isn't something that I'll forget, so if that was their aim, they hit the mark. He was quite the entertainer and really seemed to enjoy what he was doing. The food was wonderful. Hot off of the grill, cooked the way I wanted it, and it was perfect from start to finish. The starter soup was really delicious - it wasn't much more than maybe broth and a few mushrooms, but for some reason that really stood out as being above the cut. Salad was great, too, the dressing was delicious. And the scallops were tender but not overly chewy, just the way I like them. I had originally wanted sushi, but I'm glad I chose what I did, because it was great. And the prices were really reasonable, considering the level of service and the taste of the menu. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The Love of My Life hit it out of the ballpark. :D Didn't try the sushi at all, nor the dessert, so I can't comment there. I don't get up to Cockeysville too often, but if/when I do, we're definitely visiting here again. A solid review for a solid meal. Thanks, sweetheart, for a terrific birthday. Mwah!

Went here early Saturday evening for a hibachi dinner. All in all it was an alright experience. The food was good. You get a salad and soup with your entrees. Server was nice, but didnt come around for any refills and had to be flagged down for our check at the end. Our hibachi chef was very talented and very friendly. Only 2 minor complaints about this place: it was a bit run down and not the cleanest. Everything was sticky and there were ceiling tiles missing over where we were sitting. Doesnt make for a great atmosphere. Also, our hibachi chef cooked the rice then served it to us; then he made the veggies and serverd them to us; then he cooked the meats and served it to us. So, by the time we got our meat, the rice and veggies were cold. Other places I've been to usually do everything closer together, so you have a complete hot meal. But everything we ate was good. Might come back for the sushi next time around.

We enjoyed our meal. I have a shrimp allergy and was happy to see that they cooked my chicken before anything else rather than just use different utensils. With the Groupon it is a good deal for dinner out without having to drive far.

I love this place's food! Although the decor is a bit dark and the prices are pretty high, Ginza makes the best fried rice I've ever tasted. I prefer to take out the food and eat it at home with my family, which is always a great meal. They will even give you the side salad and miso soup to go. The shrimp is cooked to perfection and tastes amazing dipped in the "yum yum sauce" (that white ranch looking sauce). The teriyaki chicken is also very tasty, especially in the sauce. I've been to many Japanese steakhouses, but Ginza had the best food by far!

I had the same experience as Laura A. Came here for lunch with a Groupon, and even though we followed all the "rules," we were told they wouldn't honor the Groupon because "that's what my manager told me to say.". Conveniently, the manager wasn't there. Overall, it wasn't terrible food, but I can't support a place where their practices are misleading. Too bad they just lost a customer.

BEST DAMN CUSTOMER SERVICE I'VE HAD IN A LONG TIME! Came in on a Tuesday...tail end of lunch and I was treated like ROYALTY! I asked them what was in the vegetable maki and the let me try it off the lunch buffet for free as well as the avocado roll... The vegetable maki was GREAT much like one of my favorites back in Chicago I ordered the spicy tuna and shrimp tempura...both were pretty damn good and GREAT PRICES! This place seems lowkey but I give it my approval! I will return...SOONER THAN LATER

Had dinner here last night. Positives were the food and it's quality, very good. The server was very good and attentive. I did like that the waitstaff dressed in what appeared to be traditional Japanese kimonos and wore slippers, as is done in teppanyaki houses in Japan. Negatives were the amount of time it took to get the hibachi chef to our table; the salad was very watery and the soup was flavorful but not miso soup. Would recommend this place; get the Groupon that is available.

Went for the $10 lunch buffet at 11:30am and the selection was okay. Probably around 10-12 dishes. Maybe it was just today, but the dishes were not as fresh.

Was leaving the Great Grapes! Wine festival and yelped for the nearest hibachi place and found Ginza. Yay, I love hibachi and our chef was great. He did all the things we love about hibachi grills, the oiled burst of flame, tossing food into our mouth, onion volcanoes and the little water gun fight was fun too. We had a great time with great food. Would definitely return if we're ever in the area again. It's very authentic when you walk in too. Legit Asian workers and owners, always a plus.

Good! Could be GREAT- but it's good!! Nice, quite atmosphere-- considering these types of places can be loud, it was actually refreshing. You'll easily forget you're in a random surburban strip mall- very nicely decorated in a Japanese-type theme. Doubt anyplace in Japan looks like this, but it works great for America!! If you're familiar with the Japanese steak house concept, this place hits it by the numbers-- you sit around a grill (restaurant term- it's really like a big flat metal griddle) with your party, maybe some strangers, chef in the middle squirts random liquids and sets things on fire and chops stuff and juggles things and tosses stuff in your mouth, while cracking jokes here and there. Kind of restaurant-show-comedy, not nearly as obscene as I made it sound!! Combo meals are best deal, though you can order al a carte fo sushi and appetizers and such. But for a combo you get soup, (some places give you miso, this place gives you a decent chicken broth w/ a noodle or two, some scallion), a salad (iceberg w/thick sweet dressing- it works!! but not fancy), fried rice prepped on the grill, veggies same way, (mix of broccoli, zuchini, cabbage, onion, carrot), then your protein-- steak, filet mignon, salmon, shrimp, scallop, chicken -- single or combo of 2 or 3- all grilled and chopped and seasoned right in front of you. Great for control freaks that worry about their food being cooked where they can't see it!!! Fried rice is as good as any carry-out, nice and hot and a touch greasy, nice and salty w/soy; veggie are a good mix, cooked perfectly crisp-tender; meats cooked well-- my filet was a bit chewy, but for 24 bucks you ain't getting prime!- salmon was SPECTACULAR- very fresh; scallops were amazing as well; shrimps were fine, done well; steak was fine as well- honestly, very little difference between their regular steak and fillet. I think you're best bet would be to get the salmon-scallop combo. Service was relatively attentive- one quibble mentioned below. My only complaints-- desert! Don't bother with the ice cream- had some ice crystals in it, and it was truly low end. My spouse and child had chocolate; I had green tea-- was not very rich or creamy, I'd almost suspect it was ice milk, not ice cream! And - they did not give us new napkins or silverware for desert!! It's fun to watch them cook, for the price the quality of the proteins are good; foods aren't fancy- you gotta like soy and sugar-- but it's a fine meal, and a fine evening out. I'll be back! But I WILL skip dessert!!!

I have eaten here several times, mainly due to the location and well, I was outvoted. The Japanese Grill is always fun and if you are with the right group, it is a blast. I usually just have the Veggies, since there is so much food and by the time any meat gets prepared, I am full anyway. The rice is good. The chefs try to be engaging. However, it is not a clean place. When we arrived and sat down, I noticed an overall "sticky" feel. My plastic plate felt sticky and dirty and when the hostess saw me, she handed me a dish cloth to wipe it down! Seriously, who does that. Appetite killer for sure. There are too many good (clean) Japanese grill places around to to bamboozled into coming here again. I just came off of food poisoning at another restaurant, so don't discount how clean a restaurant is. If the front of the house is dirty, one can only imagine the conditions the food lives in in the kitchen!

Great quick lunch on the sushi buffet. All rolls but for $10 no complaints. Also includes salad and tempura (not bad for buffet tempura). Helpful, friendly service. Highly reco for a quick lunch break.

Came here with a large group for lunch, and had a good time. The staff was friendly and the chefs were not overly-talkative, they did a good job entertaining, and knew their business. The food they made was good, and it was conducive to a good time with our group. More than anything else, the price was crazy low for what it was. I can't complain with that!

Sorry to disagree with my fellow Yelpers, but I just had the $10 sushi buffet, and it was abysmal. Seating was in the area where the sushi was created. I sat at the counter to watch the chefs, and behind me is a central "buffet" of items. The selections were meager, with 5-6 items on the table, where the whole thing appeared to be an afterthought. The waiter had to be reminded that I needed a drink, and no offer was made as to a choice beyond the water I was given. I was left to my own until I again had to flag down a waitress to pay for my meal. The one star is for the adequate attempt on the part of the chefs, but service is poor.

  • John B.

Went in for their sushi buffet and the setup was not what I was expecting. The "buffet" consisted of two tables pushed together with a hazy 1" sheet of plexiglass on legs to act as a sneeze guard. Plates of different items (sushi is nicely presented) are underneath, which you must awkwardly reach down for. "Hot" items (like tempura) aren't kept hot with steamer trays or chafing dishes, and were stone cold. There were maybe 5-6 types of sushi available. Sushi was somewhat standard fare (California/Philadelphia roll, etc) but was well made and tasted good.

The lunch time all-you-can-eat sushi from 11:30 to 2:30 is great, especially @ $9.95. The chefs have things that they make but you can order what you want. The sushi comes out fresh. A good crowd keeps it that way but that makes it hard to get the a lot of the good stuff in your time window if you have to get back to work. I usually don't arrive until after 2. There are not many people there at that time. Sometimes there is a lack of good stuff but usually it is quite good and they will sometimes continue until well past 2:30. I have yet to try the Japanese Grill.

Great food, and a nice place to have dinner. Sunday through Thursday Ginza has been running a buy-one-get-one entree special. I think the value is up to $25, which still includes most of their selection. Call ahead to make sure they are still running that deal.
