A little on the pricey side but their food is good so no complaints. The waiters are knowledgeable so do take their advice on what to have. The chefs specials are recommended. Don't miss the Italian waiter in the large groups section. He is without a doubt the most interesting person I've met. Nice place to go for lunch or hangout for a few drinks after work. The beef skewers are to die for but the portions are small. One of my regular hangouts. Will recommend and will repeat.

I'm happy that Barrett's kept some of the favorites from when the location was Greystone Grill. A welcome addition is a gluten free menu! On the GF menu is my favorite Mango and Mandarin salad. The salad is tossed with fresh fruit, shrimp and large slices of brie cheese. I eat every bite. The atmosphere at Barrett's is clean and modern. It's perfect for a business lunch or bringing your parents to dinner. It's consistent with quality food and service.

Was here for a mid-week business lunch in April. Food was good - very fast because we told them we only had 45 minutes. I had my CEO with me - and at the end of the meal, he asks for an espresso. Our waiter - David - said they didn't offer espresso drinks, but he would take care of us... and we saw him going outside, next door, and getting an espresso for my boss. Really awesome service - David rocks!

I went the night before and they were right at closing so I came back the next day. I am very glad I did. The crab corn soup is very good and the duck was cooked perfect. Took a date there and she was more then please. The wait staff plus the manager were prompt and quickly addressed all needs. Thanks again for a great time!!!

Marystone was an amazing server! The crab & roasted corn soup was Rock Star quality. New York was top notch.

What an amazing dinner!! Our waiter Andrew was one of the best waiters of all time. He was so knowledgeable about the food, drinks, preparation, and portion sizes. The outdoor seating was so romantic and the food was wonderful. We started with he firecracker shrimp and then had the scallops and the duck. Everything was perfect!!! Definitely the best dinner we've had in a while.

If for no other reason, go to Barrett's for one thing: the crab and roasted corn soup. I've noticed a lot of other reviewers liked it, and there's a reason: It was superb. There are plenty of other reasons to like Barrett's. My wife enjoyed her shredded Brussels sprouts and her fried chicken salad; my hot duck salad was very tasty and a goodly portion, to boot. And the service was excellent. Give it a try.

This was a complete surprise. From the exterior, it appeared to be a regional chain, but we came to learn it is family run and the owners very much present. Excellent fresh menu options, and some great deals price-wise. 1/2 price bottles of wine on Tuesdays and Thursdays - with some interesting selections, again, at solid prices. Great corn/crab soup, super rich but delicious. Fresh homemade coleslaw. Excellent shrimp Cargot - shrimp broiled in an escargot crock. Delicious. Service was truly genuine and gracious. Interior is a bit dated, and could use a light refresh but all in all, a very good spot for food/drink.

Great food and service, mostly horrible seating. Half is booths with cushions, half is hard wooden chairs. I got lucky with a booth, but if I'm forced to sit in a chair ill never come back. Put cushions on the chairs

An unexpected surprise of great food and service. The food was cooked from scratch and made to order. You don't find that too often in today's restaurants. We will definitely be back.

Supposedly a 1/2lb crab cake. Yeah right. It wasn't really that good either. My wife got a Caesar salad with chicken and the chicken was dry and hard. It took the waitress a while to arrive at first. She asked us if we needed more time, we said yes, and she didn't show up again for like 10 minutes. Our drinks never got refilled. Very disappointing, I had heard good things about this place.

Had a great lunch here this weekend. The food was amazing especially the crab cakes and corn crab chowder (I can't say enjoy about the t chowder). The service was a step above your average restaurant. Besnik was our waiter and he was very attentive! He took great care of our table and you could tell enjoyed what he was doing. I will be back when I am on that side of town. A little pricey but is well worth it for the service & food.

I like this place but the service can be iffy. Food is good at a good price. Its not NYC or Chicago but for Hunt Valley you can't go wrong here.

My husband and I have gone to Barrett's 3-4 times this summer and it's become one of our new favorites. We love going to sit on the patio when it's nice out because it is huge and we've never had to wait. The interior is clean and modern with a nice bar. The service here is always friendly and nice, yet professional, plus there's a tall maitre'd/manager/jack of all trades guy who moves about the floor who really makes you feel welcome as he's very charismatic. The last time we went, we sat at the bar to watch the baseball game and the bartenders were funny and very attentive even though it was really busy. Now, the food. We've tried a variety of items from the fish of the day to the meatloaf to the pasta to the French Dip, and have liked every single thing. The entrees all come with your choice of their salads: a wedge, a Caesar, or their house which is mixed greens with candied cashews and blue cheese in a raspberry viniagrette (Yum) plus a side. We always pay the upcharge for their au gratin potatoes which are cheesy and gooey delicious. Their French Dip is the best I've ever had, with a good roll and topped with Gruyere, it is perfect. More than anything, we appreciate how Barrett's is so consistently good and that we know when going there that we are always in for a good experience The only reason I knocked down one star is because I wish they had a more innovative dessert menu. We always end up walking over to Vaccaros for a pignoli cookie instead....not that that is a bad option because they're the best! Maybe Barrett's should pair up with Vaccaros in some way!

I just tried their brunch, it's not that bad, I tried omelette stuffed with mushrooms, onions and tomatoes, the best thing that I recommend is having crap soup, it's delicious !!! The staff were friendly.

We ate there several times. Service has been ok. Food is also ok. We felt they tired to be very upscale, but the restaurant does look nice, but the food is not upscale. Small portions, and just so so. I did not like the very sticky tables ! I asked about this and was told they were getting new tables in the future. How does that help us ? We are there with sticky tables. Just another restaurant in my opinion.

Four of us went here for dinner on a Friday evening and sat outside on the patio. We arrived around 6 and we were able to talk and enjoy ourselves. By 7-7:30 the outside bar in the resturant right next door became very lively and noisy. From that point on, conversation was difficult. But the food here is very good. This was our second visit and both times everyone enjoyed their food. So if you visit, expect a good meal, but be aware the noise from the adjacent resturant could get bothersome if you are outdoor on the patio.

Was pleasantly surprised by this place. I expected it to be a chain along the lines of Carrabba's, but it's actually a locally owned, upscale restaurant. I got the short ribs and really liked them. The dessert was also really good, but came as a humongous portion. Would have preferred a smaller, less expensive portion.

Service is great. The waitress was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. We had sweet & spicy calamari for appetizer. It was alright but not crunchy enough. The sauce tasted like store-bought sweet & sour sauce. And the blue cheese dip was interesting, neither great nor bad. The entre though was very, very good. We had vodka and crab, which is pasta and crabmeat in vodka sauce, and lobster rolls, which comes with 2 rolls and sides. They were delicious!! Due to the pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff and good-tasting food, we plan to revisit.

This was my first visit to Barrett's and the food was outstanding. The first half of the lunch went very smoothly and was very enjoyable. I was already planning out in my head what I would order during my next visit. The second half of the lunch was quite disappointing because our waitress (who started out great) literally disappeared. We waited and waited. Finally I had to find another waiter to give him our bill along with the tip. I had to explain to the waiter that our server had disappeared for quite some time. Sadly, I think this will be my one and only visit to Barrett's which is a shame because the food was so good.

We had a great red wine, Catena Malbec, with salads and the berry Napolean desert. Phil, our waiter, made the while experience so much fun. He was informed and very personable with a great sense of timing. It was my first time here and I will define rely come back because of him. Tuesdays and Thursdays are half price bottles if wine.

Lunched here with a girlfriend and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The waitress was very attentive and polite. We ordered a bunch of appetizers instead of a meal, all brought out timed so that we didn't have a pile of food on the table. We ordered the crab and artichoke dip (based on other yelp reviews...thanks!) which was delicious. Also ordered a couple of flatbread pizzas that were delicious!

Thank GOD for change! This used to be the gray stone grill or something like that but now it's the BARRETT'S GRILL where the food and service are GREAT! My Aunt and I had the vodka crab and thought that it was superb. We got here near closing time and they still welcomed us with open arms and honest smiles. I'm sure that we'll be back as we frequent the area for medical reasons.....thanks Barrett's! **On a side note, it wasn't just the delicious Malbec that I was drinking, but our waiter was FIONE....if ya don't know, now ya knooooooow!

Decided to try for happy hour. We sat at a table in the bar- which was nice. The bartender immediately ran to our table to take our order- the service was great even though he was extremely busy making drink for everyone at the bar, waiting on tables in the bar and making drinks for the whole restaurant. We got several apps as a our meal during happy hour- they were just ok. The menu seems way to simular to the menu at Greystone- I honestly dont know really how much the place has changed. It stills seems overpriced for what it is and pretty average food. The firecracker shrimp were not good- they were mushy and did not taste great. The buffalo calamari was actually pretty good (but basically fried calamari with blue cheese and wing sauce) and the crab and artichoke dip wasnt anything special- it was pretty thin and not a lot of crab or artichoke. We spent a fair amount of money on what was just a few apps and drinks. We wont be back anytime soon

Came last Friday evening and sat on the patio. It was a perfect evening for outdoor dining. We started with the Shrimpcargot. Jumbo shrimp cooked and served similar to escargot, in a great butter sauce with toast. The shrimp were perfect and flavorful. We also had the crispy oysters. Not at all greasy and very tasty with the chipotle roumalade. The dinner salads were mixed greens with candied cashews and blue cheese. Yummy. We each had something different and we were each very happy with our choices. I had the short ribs and they were fall apart tender perfect. Another in our group had the vodka and crab, a red cream sauce over penne. It was perfect as well and lots of flavor. Another had black bass (not the Chilean sea bass). It had a very light butter sauce.not over done so the fish shined. Our fourth had the scallops over risotto. Again, cooked to perfection with a delicious flavor and aroma. I would recommend any of the dishes we had, and I look forward to trying others. Oh yeah, fresh baked rolls and we finished by shading a cream brulee ..and it wad yummy with mixed berries and raspberry coulie on the side. Prices were very reasonable.

We had a great dining experience at Barrett's Grill. Our server, Liz, was exceptional. She was pleasant, knowledgable about the menu/specials as well as wines and attentive without being overbearing - with a wonderful sense of humor to boot. Liz and the kitchen staff appeared to time our meal so that every dish was perfectly paced. For example, shortly after finishing our salads, plates were whisked away, wine arrived and was immediately followed by our entrees. We began with the Ahi Tuna starter and for entrees, I enjoyed the Chilean Sea Bass while my companion had the New Zealand Rack of Lamb. We could not have been happier with our choices - everything was cooked perfectly and delicious. Entrees include a small salad and side; portions are reasonable as are the prices. The Ultimate Martini was delicious. My only minor quibble is that the location isn't entirely clear and we had a bit of trouble spotting the restaurant on the second level of the plaza. All of the businesses on the circle are 118 followed by a letter and I did not see any sinage indicating Barrett's location. Nor did I realize that there is parking at the back of the second level that looked much more convenient and accessible than the lower level. That said, Barrett's Grill far surpassed my expectations. The service was superior and greatly enhance our dining experience. I would definitely return.

Honestly, Barrett's Grill is just ok. I've been there twice and wasn't all that impressed with anything that I ate either time. The atmosphere is nice enough. Go if you have a Groupon, but I wouldn't pay full price. I will say that it's nice that a salad is included with your entree.

My husband and I ate here for lunch this week. We loved our table and waitress Daniella, She was the best. Top notch service. I had the corn and crab chowder and it was excellent. It had just the right amount of sherry in it. I also had the wedge salad and added grilled shrimp. It was perfect. My husband had a great burger that featured both sweet and and savory. It had a grilled pineapple in it. It was served with hand cut fries. Yum! Our dentist and staff recommended this place and they were right- it's great. We met the manager/owner on the way out. He's a nice guy and we wish him and Barrett's great success.

Back in June I purchased a Living Social voucher for Barrett's and my husband and I finally had a chance to use it today after a movie. I was very impressed at the decor when I walked in, the hostesses were efficient but not quite what I would call friendly. We were seated by the door that leads to the outside area which was a little distracting since even though there was a little bit of a chill in the air quite a few people were seated out there. I really liked our server, Ann, she told us about all of the specials and was very nice. We started our meal with the Crab & Roasted Corn Soup and the Bacon Wrapped Scallops. I especially liked the taste of the warm citrus beurre blanc, the scallops were tender and the bacon flavorful. For our meal my husband and I both got the Lobster Roll sandwich and while it was good I felt it was just a bit bland, salt helped some but I prefer the buttery toasted roll that the lobster roll from The Thames Street Oyster House was served on. All in all we had a nice dinner, the staff was extremely efficient but I feel a little warmth in their demeanor would go a long way. The one person I felt treated us the most like a valued guest was the young man, I'll assume he was either a host or busser, that opened the door for us as we were leaving. I've worked in the restaurant business for a long time and know that the first impression a guest gets is the one that will usually determine if they return.

I went there with my parents for fathers day. The atmosphere is fresh, young and fun. Even the food was surprisingly delicious! The salmon and crab cakes were well seasoned and worth the price. The service however was less than stellar! Our waiter was less than friendly and very arrogant. He made us feel uncomfortable, unwelcome and like we were an inconvenience to his day. He was unfamiliar with the menu and couldn't tell us whether steamed vegetables were available as a side! Normally I don't complain or blog about things like this, but I mentioned something to manager and she actually didn't seem surprised. Obviously this wasn't his first complaint. She did offer us a $20 off our next meal voucher which I thought was a nice gesture. Go for the food it's delicious, just don't expect much from your server.

The apps were great. They messed up our drink order and said they wouldn't charge us. We were still charged for three beers we did not order until we said something. We were charged for a side we were told would be a no charge substitute for the salad. My medium rare steak would barely qualify for rare. After asking for it to be cooked additionally it was still too bloody. My steak knife was not brought out to me until after I asked a different server for one. Our tab was $200 for three people. The food was good besides all this.

My wife, kids, and I went to Barrett's Grill for lunch last week and we had a great experience. Food was excellent and the wait staff was extremely attentive... I had the crab corn chowder (I've tried all kinds of seafood chowders and bisques, and this was outstanding) and the Barrett's House Salad with salmon (also very good). My wife had the meatloaf and loved it. Kids had the French dip sandwich and a filet (4 thumbs up). Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the bacon-wrapped scallop appetizer. On top of this, the atmosphere was very comfortable. We will definitely be back next time we pass thru Hunt Valley.

Corn and crab soup was excellent. The shrimp salad was plentiful, but could have used more old bay. Scallop risotto was very tasty, but the portion was very small compared to the price charged. Waitress brought drinks then didn't come back to take our order for awhile. Overall impression was very good food, rather costly and service was only so-so.

Nice live Jazz band. Service was okay. Food was very pricey and very, very sub-par. The rack of lamb was poorly done. I won't be returning here anymore. I should have gone a few doors down to the Ocean City Fries for a very deliciuos cheesesteak sub for 25% of the price.

(09/09/2011) Tried Barrett's tonight, hugely disappointing for food, but the space is beautiful, the service and management are efficient and try very hard. It was the food that didn't live up. The Steakhouse Salad (field greens, candied cashews, blue cheese crumbles and raspberry vinaigrette) was the best part of the meal; very successful. The baked potato on my entree was very good, too; large, fluffy, moist, roasted skin. I had the Rack of Lamb, ordered it medium-rare; it came out charred and well-done (as in, overcooked, no pink or blood in sight). Also, it looked like each of my chops was cut into to check the temperature/doneness: 1.) that let's all the juices out; 2.) that's just totally amateurish for a self-proclaimed "steakhouse". One dining companion had the Prime Rib, ordered it medium; it also came out well-done and was pronounced very salty, and looked dry. The only decent entree was the French Dip Sandwich; came as ordered and as described with a garlicky jus that was not bad, not spectacular. We were celebrating a birthday and were contemplating getting dessert, but the check came before we were asked if we wanted anything else. We took that as a sign and went to Chik Fil-A for ice cream. That was a $1.19 better spent. If you're stuck at Hunt Valley and are desperate to escape the kids for a little bit, this might be your place.

This is the new name of what has been known as the Greystone Grill. The food and menu are almost identical to the Greystone. I didn't try the crab chowder (their signature dish), but everything looked the same. The service was good, management thanked us for our business and my friends ate everything. This is a good place to go for business lunches. Slightly more upscale than the California Pizza Kitchen.

We went last night with a living social voucher. Our first time there. I've heard great things about their cream of crab soup. We arrived about 6:30 and took one of the two last tables in the lounge area. The bar was full. (all seven stools) We were immediately greeted by Teddy and offered drinks. He was knowledgeable about the differences between the two chardonnays by the glass, which was nice. After looking over the menus, we asked Teddy about his favorite dishes. His favorite appetizer was the shrimp cargot. He also suggested the calamari. We tried the shrimp cargot and of course the crab and roasted corn soup. Neither disappointed. In fact, it was the best soup we've ever had!! The shrimp cargot was also delicious. Heart stopping, but, we knew that going in. It was garlicy, buttery, cheesy and the baguette was brushed with butter and toasted. The shrimp was cooked perfectly which is always a nice surprise. Teddy also suggested the Scallops Risotto and the Filet Napoleon for entrees. We were impressed with his knowledge of how each dish was prepared and his enthusiasm. We were glad we took his suggestions. Both dishes were wonderful. It would have been nice to see a sear on the scallops, but, there was no grit!! yay!! The filet was served rare, just as I asked. The preparation of the potatoes slices on the bottom of the mushroom, onion mixture were quite the surprise. It tasted like a seasoned, crispy skinned baked potato cut into perfect slices. Not just an afterthought. The port wine demi-glace brought it all together nicely. We were talking about going back again before we even left.

The crabcake here was the best I've ever had. It earns the restaurant 5 stars in hopes that other people will go out and try it. Seriously, the chunks of crab were huge and it had such a delicious flavor and texture. I was in heaven. I went to Barrett's at 4pm to use my Groupon so I avoided the crowds. The service was great in that circumstance. I ordered the house salad and it did seem like kind of a small portion. Of course, I might have just been really hungry. But the dressing was good. Also, the fries that came with my crabcakes were delicious. I left the restaurant feeling like I would definitely go back.

Went to Barrett's for dinner on Restaurant Week and had a very nice dinner. The only problem was they had an issue with a freezer and two of the desserts were not available out of three. So we had to get the Bread Pudding which was delicious but as a restaurant they should have offered two other desserts as replacements. It showed little concern for the customers who didn't like or want Bread pudding.

Had dinner after a friend suggested I try it. I recently moved to MD from Texas and was looking for a place that serves a decent steak. It was one of the best steaks I have ever had. The service was great too. I was there alone but would be a great place with a date. The server also told me that the restaurant was privately owned which is always a plus for me. To my surprise the owner came to my table and spoke to me for a few minutes, what a nice young man. Great wine list too.

I had a great time at this restaurant with my relatives. The food is fresh and flavorful, and the ambience of the place is ideal for any occasion. I'd have to say the best part of the experience was the restaurant's manager, Mike! He was awesome! He made sure that we were enjoying our meals and really provided outstanding customer service. Anyone who dines out frequently knows that it's hard to find great customer service nowadays but he provided an exceptional experience and I will definitely be coming back with more friends and family. Our waiter Sam was equally awesome! Can't wait to go back!

Awesome place! My husband loves this place. We moved away from the area, but it was perfect for us when we were there. A perfect dinner experience (even in the winter) and then movies afterwards. Great date night! We tried so many different things that I can't say one was better than the other. They have great desserts too!

I love Barrett's for everything! Especially for brunch or dinner! I have been to Barrett's for a special occasion and just because! They also have a great restaurant week menu ! Here is why I love Barrett's: 1. The service is great! Very friendly and professional. 2. The food especially their pasta and salmon are amazing! Like super amazing! Just so much flavor and yummy -ness lol it's making me want some now actually! The dessert is also very good. 3. The atmosphere is nice and romantic but not overly romantic. It's also nice for date night because it's in Hunt Valley and located next to the movies. 4. Open parking so no need to pay for it. Note: Overall great people and food! Also the online pictures don't do it justice because it makes the restaurant look dated when it's not. Great for happy hour, romantic date, girls night and Sunday brunch !

Excellent meal served by new hire Joseph. Service as good as the food. Had the catfish special, at Joseph's suggestion and he was spot on. Enjoyed the meal and a nice glass of wine; not rushed, and pleasant conversational approach to serving the meal. Food was cooked to perfection catfish was well cooked but moist; sides, salad and desert complemented everything well. Left dessert choice up to my server and again perfect!

I hosted a lunch at Barrett's to celebrate my daughter's 21st birthday. The service was excellent and so was the food. All of my 16 guests complimented their food selections. The humus appetizer was outstanding. I highly recommend Barrett's for any occasion. Hats off to Jake, our waiter, who took excellent care of us.

This was my first time coming to this restaurant with my wife and son and we were very impressed with the meals. I had the crab and corn soup with the scallop risotto and my wife had the fried calamari With salmon for the entree. The waitress was very informative and helpful with what she suggested. My favorite thing was how fast our orders came. It look less than five 5 minutes after ordering. I was impressed! My only complaints are the prices are a bit high but other than that the food was great.

Went there for dinner with my girlfriend and her parents. The restaurant was very nice. The decor was very modern and the lighting was a little dark. The food was delicious. I started with the crab and roasted corn soup. It was amazing. It was very much a bisque. I highly recommend this as an appetizer. My girlfriend got the hummus which was supposedly very good. For the main course I got the blackened chicken pasta. It was good, very peppery, which I wasn't a huge fan of, but otherwise it was good. Overall, very nice and good place. The service was very good! Highly Recommend!

This was a nice little treat with little wait time on a Friday night. Beautifully decorated and the menu is sophisticated for nice meal out with the family. We took our son, who is 11. I think it is very acceptable to bring older, well mannered children. At our table, we had ribs, a lobster roll, chicken club, and southwest egg rolls. My lobster roll was killer with little filler! Lol My son's chicken club had a ton of stuff on it...maybe fried onions, some kind of beef, and a special mayo. I am not entirely certain of the contents, but he ate the whole thing. The fries are shoestring and handcut. I personally thought the fries were delicious. The adult drinks were not so good. Spare hour dollar on the mixed drinks. We sent one back. All in all...a little pricey, but it was worth it. They have groupons out there right now too.

Just so so. Came here by myself on a Monday night. Ordered the Crab and roasted corn soup. The soup was OK, nothing spectacular. Certainly nothing like I expected based on other Yelp reviews. Ordered Catfish and mushrooms for a side. Both we just OK. Nothing was bad, just a bland, so so dinner. Service was very good however. Prompt and helpful. I wish the kitchen would have done as good of a job as the wait staff.

I saw this restaurant on Groupon and decided to try them out. I was pleasantly surprised. Really nice ambiance / modern decor with outdoor seating. Great service and Amaaaazing food. I got a shrimp dish as my appetizer. I can't remember the name of it, but it sat in garlic butter was topped with cheese and served with bread. Delicious. I would have been satisfied with just eating that for dinner. I got the prime rib as my main meal. Good cut, very well seasoned and cooked to perfection. This place is the bomb. We'll definitely be back!

My husband and I decided to go out this past Saturday for dinner and a movie. I looked up a few places on yelp and I decided to give this restaurant a try. The atmosphere was very welcoming and relaxing, customer service was superb I'll have to give our waiter Sam a 5 star because he was absolutely great. His presentation and professionalism was outstanding. My husband ordered the crab cakes and I had the blackened chicken pasta both dishes where seasoned to perfection. We will definitely be paying another visit soon.

I've been to Barrett's several times. This particular time was for Mother's Day. Each time I have received consistent service and quality food. I ordered a half rack of ribs along with their house fries. I asked for mayo with my fries (the superior choice) and that did not come out with my plate. The ribs were solid. Good barbecue sauce along with very tender meat. There was nothing technically wrong with the dish. However, Barrett's maintains and upscale setting with upscale prices. In that circumstance I expect an introduction to unique flavor profiles as well as a menu with less standard American pub fare. Unfortunately, Barrett's produces neither of these factors and thus does not get five stars. They do traditional American fairly well. So, if you're looking for a place that will satisfy picky eaters or the less adventure, take them here. You will get a solid meal. I'm still looking for a truly exciting dining experience in Hunt Valley, however.

I stopped by here last night with 2 others for dinner. This wasn't where we were planning on going but whenever our initial plans fell through, we consulted Yelp and ended up here. We actually had a little bit of trouble locating the restaurant since it was on the upper level while we were initially looking on the lower level. However after consulting one of the shopping areas maps, we were able to find it. As we walked towards it I noticed that they had a large outdoor seating area which looked really nice. Unfortunately it was raining on this evening and so we were unable to take advantage of it. Whenever we entered the restaurant there was no wait and we were immediately taken to a table. For dinner on this evening our table decided to split the hummus duo and I decided to have the lobster macaroni and cheese for appetizers. Then for my entree I ended up choosing the duck salad. A couple of minutes later our server returned to the table letting me know that they had sold out of the duck an hour prior. So I had to pick something else and went with the shrimp salad. About a minute after i put in that order our appetizers arrived at the table. My macaroni and cheese was good but only because of the nicely cooked lobster. The pasta itself was ok but the cheese sauce was almost nonexistent and uninspiring. The hummus came out plated with some carrots, celery, zucchini and what was supposed to be naan but which resembled more of a pita to me. It tasted decently enough but wasn't anything special and our table actually left about half of each hummus and some "naan" when the plate was taken away. Last but not least was my salad which consisted of old bay seasoned jumbo shrimp over lettuce with hard boiled egg, smoked cheddar cheese, avocado and crackers. I was also able to choose the dressing for this salad and I ended up going with a lemon vinaigrette. This dressing ended up being rather sweet instead of tart and I think it would have been better labeled as lemonade vinaigrette. What I found to be odd about the jumbo shrimp is that they were cut up into what looked like fourths. Who does that with jumbo shrimp? Was it actually jumbo shrimp? I certainly wouldn't know. The shrimp was also covered in a creamy sauce that reminded me of a cold shrimp picnic salad and I couldn't taste any old bay at all. With all of that being said I still think that it tasted decent and I enjoyed it somewhat. The bottom line for me is that I might stop by here again in the future. The food was decent and if it is nice outside I would love to try their outdoor seating area.

Wow! Used to be a staple for a good dependable meal. They have gone down hill in terms of quality of food. The shrimp salad platter- a perennial fav is now a couple of chopped shrimp on cheap lettuce. They have added too many tables- the wait staff can't possibly maneuver Speaking of which that has diminished as well. They used to be professional now they are hassled. And the hostess? More like a gatekeeper. So unpleasant. Sorry Barrett's you've lost a loyal money spending regular to your greed and diminished product

I've been here a number of times and have tried many of the dinner and lunch items. The food and service are consistently good. Great steak and seafood dishes. They have a nice wine selection. I believe this is one of the better restaurants in north Baltimore county.

The food was ok, very garlic-y. The service was slow. Perfectly mediocre.

Barrett's Grill is extraordinary. I like to point out the good and the bad in my reviews but honestly can't find anything negative to say. I can honestly say I've had nearly everything on the menu and have never had anything less than excellent. Especially notable is their unique take on a lobster roll, the shrimp cargo, short ribs and prime rib which is nearly too much to finish. The service has always been excellent as well. Barrett's is a very refreshing improvement over Greystone formerly in this location.

Step into business lunch 'r' us at Barrett's Grill, to the right you'll notice a pristine bar/lounge area with beautiful cream colored leather furniture, cherry wood tables and bar tops. The air is crisp, the ambiance, manicured. Stay on your P&Qs in Barrett's, the wine and spirits are merely eyecandy, business lunch 'r' us here, remember? The waiters and hostesses struck me as community college kids just there for the tips. Our waitress was a little rough around the edges as she reached over our food and glasses to pass refills and clear the table. She also grabbed the glasses by the rims (EWE), but who notices b/c the topic of conversation here at Barrett's is most likely about workstuffs. Food: pretty darn good if not plentiful. I ordered what I thought was the crabcake sandwich with a vegetable not the fries. OK - I received just the crabby patty and a heaping helping of spinach. Very tasty but where's my bun? No one complains at business lunches (it's paid for so it's perfect!). No bun works too. Co workers and boss ordered: fish tacos (two measly filled thrown together tacos w juice coming out with each bite - he didnt complain either, you know why! *wink*) seared tuna salad - I heard it was good, it looked fresh. Other coworker ordered the strawberry fields salad, she took her time w it, it didnt seem spectacular but seemed to include very fresh ingredients. All in all, not a bad establishment if you're in it for food w businessfolk. I wouldn't go for Barrett's w any other group of people so if you're in the Hunt Valley area and you like that tucked away feeling to conduct your business lunch, give B's a try. Reservations were not neccessary, at the top of the lunch rush we were seated right away. The outdoor seating here will most likely make your experience a little more interesting/enjoyable.

Took our office group of 10 here for our annual holiday dinner. It was absolutely fantastic. The bartender, Andrew, recommended delicious Happy Hour cocktails while we waited for our full group to arrive. The White Cosmo he made - with lemon and dried blueberries - was very tasty. Surprisingly, our group was seated in a private room off of the kitchen. The room was perfect with a bit of ambient holiday music being pumped in. We all agreed, that the privacy really made for a better group experience. Also, with the door to the room closed you would never know you were immediately outside the busy kitchen. Our server, Kevin, was a blast. Funny, great with recommendations, constantly checking on us for everything (beverages, room temp, music level, general needs). He was phenomenal!! The food was amazing. No one had any issues with anything that was brought out, we all devoured everything from appetizers (the buffalo calamari - wow!!) to entrees to dessert (the creme brulee and key lime pie - seriously delicious). On a bit of a side note: I was surprised we never had a manager check in on us. Not that we needed it, but it struck me as odd.

My husband and I love this place. He can't stop ordering the French Dip sandwich, it is so good!! I've had it too - it's excellent! It comes on a toasted baguette topped with melted provolone cheese, with a side of au jus (naturally) and horseradish - SO yummy - as well as shoestring fries. Friendly wait staff, average wait time on meals, but BUSY on weekends!

First time visit-from out of state-and the dining experience and food were exceptional! I was greeted and seated very by very nice people. My server was attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. Her food suggestions were spot on. I had the crab cream soup and vodka pasta...delicious! I was dining alone so had time to "people watch." The staff was exceptional and genuinely nice. Excellent dining experience to end a long day.

My husband and I eat here often and are never disappointed. We dined here last week and I had one of the best meals I have had out in a long time. I started with the soup of the day: a white bean chili with duck, crispy onions, and cheese. It was a pureed consistency and was so hearty and flavorful. I sampled some of my husband's appetizer: steak quesadillas. The steak was so tender and the creamed guacamole sauce was unique...much better tasting than just plain sour cream. Dinner was the filet napoleon: filet medallions with potatoes, Carmelized onions, and spinach with a red wine sauce. Everything was cooked to perfection. Potato slices were crispy, steak was tender, and the wine sauce just made the dish. The restaurant inside is beautiful. We went on half price bottle wine night and a jazz band was playing. Not a jazz fan, but the music was a nice touch and not too loud. Also want to mention that I have been here many times, including a special occasion dinner where I brought a cake. Someone in the kitchen accidentally dented a corner of my cake. The manager on duty brought me back to the kitchen where not only she but the staff member who made the mistake apologized. It was such a minor thing but they seemed very genuine and gave me a very decent amount of money off of my bill. Customer service is excellent. Food is excellent. Highly recommend.

Barrett's is about 5 miles from my house and we probably go there at least once a month. The Staff is always pleasant and the food is consistently good. Went last night and The Prime Rib was fantastic and huge( had it for lunch today). The manager checked in with us at least 4 times to make sure things were going well and as we left the owner greeted us at the door and thank us for the visit. If you haven't tried it I suggest you do.

I'd rather eat a shoe then ever eat here again. Service- AWFUL. Food - smelled like poop everywhere. Prices - way too expensive. will not ever go back

Bar and bar tables were full and crowded on Thursday evening. It's a space too small. Tables for two in the dining room were really close together. Our server, tried hard to please, but needed better training. However, all staff let you know they wanted to please. The manager, Kyle, came over to welcome us first time guests, a nice touch. We ordered our martinis, which were made decently and to our specifications. By the time we got these, we should have received the nice hot rolls to go with the drinks, but they came a bit late. We then ordered house salads, wife had ahi tuna, and I had the Chilean Sea Bass. The salads were fine, the ahi tuna a tad above OK and the sea bass was outstanding in preparation and taste. Portion size was fine for me though some might find it a tad small. So overall, I think this is a restaurant that is good now and hopefully will get better. It seems they are trying for a higher status (their pricing shows this), but have to demonstrate that they can deliver upscale meals on all fronts, food, drinks and service. We will visit again to see how that goes. (Parking is in a huge public lot, and is more than adequate.)

A friend of mine ate at the restaurant with a group of 10 people and had credit card processing issues. Two people paid with cash and three people paid with credit cards. His credit card got charged the full amount of the bill without the cash subtracted from the total after the three cards were ran and signed for at a split amount. The manager is now informing him that the other two cards (which went through and we're signed for) never went through at the end of night and they only had his card to run the whole amount on (which he never authorized)! Something fishy has gone on with the manager and or waitress during his visit and they won't offer any help in their mistakes!

Came here for restaurant week and had a fairly negative experience. While it was clean and the atmosphere was nice, we were seated and after 10 minutes of waiting for a server, we asked to be moved away from the drafty large window. I had a crab and corn soup which was the best part of my meal, pork chop with mango chutney and garlic veggies and bread pudding. Pork chop was cooked well, the chutney wasn't anything special. Veggies were tasty, but a generic mix of broccoli, cauliflower and carrots. I was hoping for some fresh winter veggies or something. Bread pudding was tasty, but very generic. My friend had the kale salad (which was a strange mix with mint and peanut vinaigrette) the pork belly (which as pork belly goes wasn't bad, but of course terribly fatty) and the creme brulee. We had to basically throw up a flag for our server when we needed more water, and honestly, for the price of food on their normal menu, I'd not venture back. It was bad enough to drop nearly $90 after tax and tip for a dinner you didn't enjoy that much. A definite disappointment.
Brunch on a Sunday. We got there about 10:30. My biggest frustration was finding the place. The map in the shopping center wasn't clear, there was no sign to say this way to Barrett's Grill is upstairs by the movie theater and that there was additional/better parking up there. We ended up parking downstairs, not that I minded the walk or the stairs but the side parking spaces were only 15 minute parking and we had to move the car twice. Moving forward.... Barrett's was great. The service/staff were friendly, helpful and nice. We had two little ones with us and they seemed happy. It was a family friendly place The food was delicious. We had a few dishes, waffles, omelettes, bacon, sausage and it was all cooked perfectly. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll be checking it out again.

I had no idea this gem was so close to home. We stumbled upon this place while perusing the list of restaurants participating in Baltimore restaurant week. Being in Hunt Valley's Town Center, I admittedly expected this place to have an air of snobbery without the culinary flare to back it up. Fortunately, I was proven wrong. While they do have what I like to call a menu for "basic people," it seems that another section was dedicated to those who have a taste for dishes outside the norm, which I think is a great business model for a restaurant trying to appeal to different demographics. We got the prefix menu--mine consisted of the tomato bisque, pork belly, and a lovely bread pudding for dessert. The service was on point as well. I'm so glad this place is just 2 minutes away, because I'll be coming back.

Came here for Valentine's, never having been before. Atmosphere was very nice. Menu was alright, albeit the sides were limited due to the holiday menu. Ordering drinks, they were alright. On both occasions, we ordered two of the same drink, only to have one tasting sweet and one tasting strong. No biggie. Mix match splish splash problem solved. Ordering dinner, we avoided the holiday menu, selecting three 8oz filets (two for me, one for my girlfriend) with a side of potatoes. When our salads arrived, one was drenched in sweet vinaigrette, despite having been ordered plain. Once again, no biggie. I'm not a salad guy, I'm here for steak. When the filets came, the first thing I noticed was that my filets looked like hamburger patties; highly pressed and less than an inch thick. Cutting in, they were cooked as ordered (well done). They tasted alright, comparable to an Applebee's sirloin. My girlfriend's filet (cooked medium) was easily twice as thick, and actually looked like a filet cut. Honestly, I thought they might have been 6oz filets from the special menu. A manager noticed my inquisitive manner towards the filets and stopped by, saying that thinner cuts were selected for being cooked well done, in order to facilitate cooking times. He offered another cut, which I declined, as my girlfriend had finished her dinner and was awaiting our later plans. In retrospect, I wish I had tried that third cut, because based on the two I had, I probably wouldn't go back to Barrett's for anything but a burger (which I'm not even sure they have, based on the holiday menu, but I would assume they do).

When traveling for business I definitely tend to try something local and different...Barrett's fit the plan nicely. Good reviews from fellow Yelpers and a menu that was comprehensive. We happened to stop by during restaurant week so the options were available. Bourbon selection was strong and the food options all sounded like potential winners. I opted for the french onion soup, crabcakes (I am in Maryland!!!) and a pecan bread piddong for dessert. The food was good but the atmosphere needed something to quiet down the background noise. The band was good but our table was next to them so it made the conversation louder than preferred. The servers lacked the finesse I was expecting. Not knowing the table positions and who ordered what made for an experience that could have been better. The food was good though and this place is recommended. Overall the party I was with was not overly impressed thus the 3 stars...next time something different.

Excellent meal. Outstanding service. I can't wait to go back. The cream of crab soup was one of the best I've ever had! Creamy, with the perfect amount of sherry and not heavy.

When a restaurant gets it right, they really get it right. Kiera, the hostess, honored my request on my Open Table reservation for a quiet table. When we arrived, the dining room had a lively vibe. Kiera suggested that it might be quieter on the patio, She was right on....the evening was lovely - not too hot with a whisper of a breeze. We were given a table that turned out to be super-quiet. Thank you for presenting such a creative Restaurant Week menu. We enjoyed the kale salad - interesting twist with the crushed peanuts and so lightly dressed. The Chilean sea bass was perfectly prepared. The short ribs were tender and delicious. We each had different desserts. I especially enjoyed the bread pudding - so yummy! Mike, the manager, stopped by our table several times to see how we were doing - always a nice touch to know that they care about their guests. Matt, our server, was attentive, friendly and charming. All in all, we had a delightful evening. Thank you so much.

They lost our Valentines Day reservations. They did not try to rectify it, saying how busy they were. Showed us to a "large group" bar stool table in their little bar area. Goodbye Barrett's.

Corn and crab soup was amazing!! Highly recommended. Crab cakes were a little pricey, but delicious. Service was great, ambiance was a little casual for the menu. And it was a little hard to find if you're not familiar with the area/shopping center. But overall a very good dining experience - I would definitely go back!

While the corn and crab soup is still some of the best ever, the past couple experiences there haven't been spectacular. They seem pretty overwhelmed at dinner as opposed to at lunch, and that might be the issue. At lunch, it's comfortably crowded, and the wait staff is able to easily handle the crowd. At dinner, it's crowded, the last few times there's been several cranky patrons waiting for a table. When we were there last night, it wasn't that bad, but our table was sticky, our drinks stayed empty longer than I would've liked, and the food wasn't spectacular. The soup was still great, but the salmon on my salad was somehow undercooked and burnt at the same time. My fiance's duck was one of the tiniest portions of food I've ever seen. Oh, and not the restaurant's fault, but the loud girl sitting at the table next to us talking about her massive infection that went from her tooth to her sinuses made the idea of eating pretty unpleasant. Our waitress was nice, and the food was fine, overall, but, I'll probably stick to work lunches here from now on.

(5)Jack C.
(5)Bob B.
(5)E R.
Great food and service, mostly horrible seating. Half is booths with cushions, half is hard wooden chairs. I got lucky with a booth, but if I'm forced to sit in a chair ill never come back. Put cushions on the chairs
(3)Nic N.
An unexpected surprise of great food and service. The food was cooked from scratch and made to order. You don't find that too often in today's restaurants. We will definitely be back.
(5)Jeremy O.
(1)Nay P.
(5)Paul W.
I like this place but the service can be iffy. Food is good at a good price. Its not NYC or Chicago but for Hunt Valley you can't go wrong here.
(4)Dawn D.
(4)Faisal A.
I just tried their brunch, it's not that bad, I tried omelette stuffed with mushrooms, onions and tomatoes, the best thing that I recommend is having crap soup, it's delicious !!! The staff were friendly.
(3)linda f.
(3)Bob D.
(4)David V.
(4)June L.
(4)A. J.
(3)Val F.
A well paced, well prepared and delicious dinner with good friends. Seated promptly, waitress was friendly, knowledgable and efficient. Both steals and seafood were ordered and all came out perfectly. I would highly recommend.

The salmon and sauce complimented each other to a winning dish Was seated immediately . Always two servers at a table A plus on service

(5)Connie M.
(4)Crystal B.

Had lunch one day with a friend and the food good with attentive service

I came to Barrett's for my birthday dinner, and I could not have been more pleased. The staff was so pleasant, the food was wonderful, and the owner personally came to the table to wish me a happy birthday. I will be back again soon!!

Have yet to go for dinner as we are new to the area but lunch was great. Best French dip I have ever had. My wife had a shrimp and lobster sandwich and it was great as well. Took a look at the wine menu and will def be back.

(5)Fraeda L.

I had a lovely experience here with a friend for restaurant week. great wine selection, knowledgeable staff, dietary restrictions accommodating, chill, but upscale ambiance.
(3)Andrew R.

(5)David S.

Beer selection isn't the greatest but having dinner with good friends is better. Restaurant week Baltimore county.
(3)Lizzie S.
(5)Monika A.
Awesome place! My husband loves this place. We moved away from the area, but it was perfect for us when we were there. A perfect dinner experience (even in the winter) and then movies afterwards. Great date night! We tried so many different things that I can't say one was better than the other. They have great desserts too!
(5)Ashley O.
(5)Matt S.
This place is amazing! Live jazz, the best steak I've ever had, and an elegant atmosphere that sets the mood. Barrett's is the place to go.
(5)Dan F.
(4)Alyssa K.
I really enjoyed dinner here, crabmeat in cream on rigatoni, kale salad and wine. Service was excellent and atmosphere was very nice. Servers are very friendly and wifi is free. :)
(3)Amanda G.
(5)Robert F.
(5)Max P.

(4)Pete S.

(3)Cindy H.
(1)Dave S.
I've been here a number of times and have tried many of the dinner and lunch items. The food and service are consistently good. Great steak and seafood dishes. They have a nice wine selection. I believe this is one of the better restaurants in north Baltimore county.
(4)Althea G.
The food was ok, very garlic-y. The service was slow. Perfectly mediocre.
(3)Paul F.

(5)Laura P.
(5)Elbra B.
(5)Nancy S.
(5)James H.
(4)Michelle L.

We had dinner at Barrett's Grill this past Saturday. Our server, Elizabeth, was excellent and was very personable. The food was excellent. Our appetizer, Crab and Artichoke Fondue, came out quickly, and was very good. My dinner companion had the Scallop Risotto with spinach and wild mushrooms and I had the two Crab cake dinner with asparagus and the wedge salad. Both entrees were superb. We enjoyed delicious red wine and enjoyed Creme Brûlée for dessert. Barrett's Grill is on our list for places to revisit!

Great food at reasonable prices. Great for date night, but also family friendly. Love the dinner salads.
