Diabetics at TGI Friday

If you're a diabetic, then you must be extra careful while dining at TGI Friday. Try the salad menu at TGI Friday to keep your sugar and sodium intake in check. Soups are great to keep you full and satisfied without munching on the unhealthy greased meat-based dishes on TGI Friday menu.

Foods to Avoid at TGI Friday for Diabetics:

Sugar and sodium intake are crucial if you have diabetes. While the salads are the best option for you at TGI Friday, it is recommended to avoid the Pecan-Crusted Chicken Salad containing over 1000 calories and 1,650mg sodium. Also, skip Warm Pretzels with Craft Beer-Cheese dipping sauce as it contains more than 3000mg sodium. It is wise to skip the dessert for diabetics, especially the Brownie Obsession topped with Vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, and pecans.

Not impressed. Food is tasty, but small quantities for mucho denarii. Not the spot for a cheapskate like me.

Overall a great place to have a mix of traditional Brazilian dishes with a twist, mixed with American traditional meals. Unlike some other reviews mentioned, I really haven't seen this place advertise themselves as the next "Chima" or "Fogo do Chão" or as a Brazilian steakhouse even. Some people have yet to realize that Brazilian food isn't just about steak. I suggest getting the pastel (Brazilian version of the Latin American empanada), the steak, and the chocolate mousse for dessert. I would also suggest you pass on the coxa creme, the title is misleading it's not creamy in anyway and could use some more spice and flavor on the actual meat not just the sauce. Definitely worth a try.

My wife and I stopped in, since we had heard that Frix's was good. I had a ribeye steak, medium-rare, with sauteed mushrooms, and fried bananas. My wife had lamb chops, with sweet potato fries and sauteed spinach. The steak was perfectly cooked, and was very good. My wife's lamb chops were also cooked perfectly, and very tender. My only quibble with the whole meal was that the lamb was a bit heavy on the mint. Overall very good, and definitely worth a try.

Frix's is not what you expect if you've been to other Brazilian restaurants in bigger cities. No meat bring carried around the place and sliced for you. But I'd take frix's over the bigger places any day. The meat is amazing! The food overall is very simple but the most flavorful and delicious meal I have had anywhere on kent island or the narrows. The decor and atmosphere are simple, comfortable, and perfect for the island. Our first visit the service was so so. The server was very nice but didn't do a good job telling us about the food, when I asked how it was prepared she just said it's really good. Second visit we ate in the bar, great service, very friendly. We will be back for sure!

My husband and I hopped in the car and looked for a restaurent near Chesapeake. Frix's had a good rating, required no reservations and was just over the bridge. We had salmon with black beans and mashed potatoes paired with moscato and a steak with friend banana and mashed potatoes with a beer. The crab dip appetizer was phenomenal! Definitely recommend.

  • Bill A.

Wow this place is good! I didn't know what to expect, but was surprised how good it was. We had the small plates for our first visit, but we'll be back for the steaks! The bar looks cool as well.

We were hoping for so much more after reading the reviews. Apparently Sunday night is not the right night for this restaurant. It was dead there was no one there, the parking lot was empty, and we thought they may have been closed. The abioaunce was very nice and waitress was very friendly. The menu looked good, enough variety but not too many items which makes you worry how fresh everything is going to be. Prices are on the fine dining end. My wife order the house salad. It came out quickly and was fresh and delicious. She ordered the mahi-mahi, asparagus, and mango slaw. I ordered the sword fish, mashed potatoes, and fried bananas. The food came out after an adequate wait. Both fish dishes were good but tasted as if they had been frozen. We were expecting more for the price. The mashed potatoes, asparagus, and fried bananas were better than the main dish. The mango slaw was okay but was probably a day or two old. Again the food was okay but we did not feel it was up to the quality of the price. We don't mind paying fine dining prices if the quality matches, unfortunately in this case it did not.

Not worth the hype or the cost. I read all the great reviews on yelp and thought I'd give this place a try. There are plenty of other restaurants around that serve better food. The best part of my meal was the sautéed spinach. The mashed potatoes came out piped and looking like poop. It was also bland and the texture was off. The salmon was way over cooked. I give them a 3 star rating for effort.

The Freshest & most flavorful food on Kent island. Most of the entrees are grilled on a lava rock grill which gives everything great flavor without being covered in spices and sauces. There are so many healthy satisfying combinations. Nice big salads, delicious steak and fish dishes, fresh veggies, great small plates, and an awesome burger. You can't go wrong. The staff is pretty great too :)

It's not often that I give a perfect review. The food, the ambiance, the decor, and the fair prices for such quality, blew me away. You can literally feel the chefs passion in the flavor and presentation...it's rare to see that kind of care in a small establishment. My husband ordered the burger, which was cooked perfectly and presented beautifully. It's not for the faint of heart, it is stacked with incredible layers of carefully chosen, quality ingredients, but you won't put it down once you pick it up! The hand cut fries, need their own sentance! They are presented in a miniature fry basket, which is adorable, and very fitting. The taste, natural but seasoned perfectly. Born and raised in Maryland, I chose to add Old Bay, but it just made good taste even better. I personally ordered the Filet. For less than $25, I had an extraordinary cut of meat, and huge portion of fresh sauteed asparagus and mashed potatoes. I'm not ashamed to say I cleared my plate. The meat...oh, the meat...tender, juicy, and I cut it with a butter knife. Why? Because I could! I was told they were cooked on lava rocks for evenness, and rubbed with a Brazilian rock salt to cook in the natural flavor, in leiu of seasoning, and I'm so impressed. I never knew steak could taste that good without random chef chosen seasonings. Needless to say, if you are a red meat person; eat here. Or, if you are human and appreciate flair, passion, and excellence in your meal, eat here. This is officially my new favorite restaurant, And I live 30 miles away, but will happily make the trek.

If you want to eat here do it soon because this place is on my list of restaurants that won't make it to their 1st anniversary. Frix's bills itself as a Brazilian steakhouse. The problem is that the gold standard is Fogo De Chao where you are served table side from a variety of meats cycled around the restaurant. Frix's puts steak on a plate and brings it to your table. This puts them out of the novelty restaurant category and squarely in competition with every other restaurant on Kent Island who have better locations, better views, and frankly, better food. My best advice to the owners is to do a table side service at least one weekend night to generate buzz and differentiate themselves. As for our meal - as mentioned in another review the appetizer called Coxa Crema is two deep fried chicken drumsticks that are bland served with a hot sauce that is not too far off from Texas Pete's. We also had the stuffed piquillo peppers which were ok. They were stuffed with a cheesy mushroom goo and were neither unpleasant nor awesome. The house sirloin was an average sirloin steak that was cooked well. Seafood offerings were shrimp and Mahi - Mahi which is curious because one would assume that access to fresh seafood wouldn't be all that difficult on the shore. The mixed drinks were uneven and the wine selection was what one would expect. So is this a good review or bad? Well, much like Frix's, it's neither. The restaurant neither amuses nor disappoints which, for them, will be their downfall - they are competing with every other restaurant on the shore who, quite honestly, does it better.

Fresh food prepared with flavor and served with attention. The stuffed piquillos where an excellent start to the meal. The grilling method on the salmon and top sirloin allowed their true flavors to shine. The mango cashew slaw was incredible! Definitely worth taking the exit off of Route 50.

Just ate at Frixe's Fire Grill on our way to St. Michaels. About 80 percent of the items on the menu are gluten free. They have a gluten free menu with items clearly marked. We had the stuffed poquillos and chicken esprinhos for appetizers and Mahi Mahi for our entree. The service was good. The food was good we'll be back.

Best restaurant on Kent Island. Period. It is slightly more expensive that other places, but the service and quality of the food are worth every penny. The people are friendly, prompt and accommodating, while the food is ALWAYS cooked perfect. I frequent this place every couple of weeks with my wife and son and we are always incredibly pleased, whether we are sitting down or taking out. The owner is a gentleman and always on the floor greeting customers and helping waitresses. I can't say enough good things about Frix's.

I've stopped through here several times. Brazilian influenced cuisine that's mainstreamed enough for the Eastern Shore. In comparison to some of the nicer restaurants I've been to, this place is probably closer to 4 stars; however, the food is perfectly executed, service is fast, the staff is friendly and the prices are unbeatable (e.g. my husband got a steak, hand cut fries and a nice salad for $10 during lunch). For these reasons, Frix's deserves 5 stars.

Steaks are cooked to perfection, be a sure to try the chimichurry sauce! Staff is friendly and attentive. The grilled asparagus is to die for. Pineapple desert is a must have. We love this place!

Much better for the previous Four Seasons, which was in the same location. The decoration is the same, but the menu is completely different. The steak is very good, appetizers are interesting, very Brazilia, and are delicious too. We had the Brazilian chocolate for dessert, and we like it as well. Very happy to see more food diversity on this island! A good place to try something new or just enjoy a good quality of food.

The filet was excellently prepared, but the lamb chops were a bit over cooked. The chicken drumsticks had promise but we're lukewarm, making me a bit suspicious about advance preparation. The mac n cheese was among the best we ever had. Overall a good meal. Hoping for better the next time. Yes, there will be a next time!

Nice change of pace for Kent Island. The decor is lovely and the atmosphere was great in the dining room; tables spread far enough apart to not be disturbed by your neighbors conversation. We had the 2 dinners: shrimp and mahi mahi. Both were delicious from the flame grilled cooking, ample portions, and delicious without need of heavy sauces. We had grilled asparagus, black beans, and sweet potato fries as sides. The asparagus was delicious and also cooked on the grill. The fries were hot and fresh fried. The black beans were flavorful and some of the best I've ever had; with a husband from Latin America, I have had LOTS of black beans! Service was attentive, and management very welcoming and friendly. Definitely give it a try. As a side note, I am on a restricted diet and had no trouble finding simple, fresh, delicious food with lots of choices. Great for low carb, gluten free, no-processed-food diets. AND the prices were very reasonable. Great value for the money.

Couldn't believe the house sirloin was a sirloin! This is apparently their Brazilian specialty and it is fantastic! Ate at the bar with a great bartender, Ally?, who made our dinner perfect and quick!

  • Pippa S.

Rude management. Menu strange. They have a fancy name for steak. Don't offer sandwiches after 4:00, only apps and full meals. So ordered chicken leg app. It was small & just so, so. Don't waste your time, drive on by.

  • Heba Z.

Steak was tasty and tender. Variety of sides. Since this is a sit down Brazilian restaurant, we each had a Caipirinha ...it was perfect!!!! Will definitely return and have already recommended it to friends.

The chicken and rice soup was delicious. The jalapeño poppers had cheddar cheese and chili in them, an interesting and delicious take on poppers. Price was great too!

Been here numerous times for the bar specials. Excellent $5 burgers on Tuesdays. Only bottled beers but good prices on the better ones. Good crowd. French fries are homemade and great. Honestly have not trIed the entrees yet but looks like they would benefit from having more affordable options like sandwiches the dinner menu.

We had the stuffed poquillos and chicken esprinhos for appetizers and Mahi Mahi for our entree. The service was good. The food was good we'll be back.

Rude management. Menu strange. They have a fancy name for steak. Don't offer sandwiches after 4:00, only apps and full meals. So ordered chicken leg app. It was small & just so, so. Don't waste your time, drive on by.

Steaks are cooked to perfection, be a sure to try the chimichurry sauce! Staff is friendly and attentive. The grilled asparagus is to die for. Pineapple desert is a must have. We love this place!

About TGI Friday

TGI Friday is a casual dining American restaurant chain founded in 1965. The term “TGI” is an acronym for Thank God It's and together the name of the restaurant is often announced as Thank God It's Friday. Over the years of its existence, the TV commercials and other advertisement streams have also twisted the phrase a bit and used it as Thank Goodness It's Friday. The restaurant serves alcoholic beverages primarily. However, they are also known for their low-carbohydrate and low-fat menu items to promote a healthy lifestyle. TGI Friday also offers gluten-free items on its menu for those with gluten intolerance.

Besides the cool name, TGI Friday also has an interesting background story of its origin. The founder of the restaurant Alan Stillman lived in a New York-based neighbourhood full of a young crowd, especially girls from the airline and fashion industry. He started the first TGI Friday restaurant in New York in the hope of meeting single women as there weren't any such public place for young men and women to meet. He invested $5000 on his own and borrowed another $5000 from his mother to buy a bar named The Good Tavern and renamed the premise to Thank God It's Friday, inspired from an expression during his time at Bucknell University.
