Ordered here several times and they never disappoint! Their food is delicious, we always order something new and are always satisfied. They also have great customer service! They recently started delivering and we had only figured that out the other evening. We placed our order and they said that we should expect it in about 40 minutes, they delivered it within 20 minutes and the delivery man was very friendly! I definitely recommend this establishment.

Huh. How 'bout that? I've been driving past Hunan Joy on Edmonson Ave for the better part of two decades. It always looked like a sad little corner place. Never more than a car or two in the lot. Nothing about it says "C'mon in." But, after seeing the decent reviews on Yelp and figuring that they couldn't stay in business for as long as they have unless they were doing something right, we stopped to grab take out for dinner. And you know what? It's worth the stop. As noted by other reviewers, the service is fast and friendly. The food came out really hot and fresh. The fried stuff wasn't super oily. And it was good. The menu's pretty standard for Americanized Chinese, but it's done well. Cooked properly. Seasoned nicely. Not full of gloppy corn-starch sauces. Spiced appropriately when called for. Honestly, I think they're doing the best mass-market Chinese carryout in the area. Plus, I didn't feel like I'd smeared myself in cooking oil after I finished eating. If you want ethnically authentic food, you probably know where to get it. But if you're looking for a solid order of mei fun noodles or fried rice, I'd give Hunan Joy a big thumbs up.

Live closely to the place and checked Yelp to see what reviews were saying about it. The reviews said it was great take-out Chinese, but when my husband and I ordered the house fried rice, Kung pao chicken, and Mongolian beef today, we were so disappointed with the food quality. The Mongolian beef hardly had any beef, it was 90% cabbage and 10% beef. The other two dishes, simply didn't taste good. Suffice to say, we won't be coming back.

I'm in shock right now. I've never experienced excellent customer service at a Chinese take out. I'm not saying they're typically rude, but they don't really go the extra mile. This lady made me second guess if I knew her from a past life. So I get home and realize I failed to specify fried rice. (White rice yuck!) I call. She simply makes me up some new rice. When I arrive she tells me to make sure I let her know next time. She also tells me about the difference in price...for next time. I think I love that lady. I get home and try everything and that's definitely my go to Chinese spot.

I agree with all other good reviews/post. I gave this restaurant five stars for their excellent customer service, low prices, their delicious hot food made to order and the fact they serve BROWN RICE!

We went here shortly after we moved to Cantonsville and were looking for our neighborhood Chinese place. Ordered our faves - sesame chicken, steamed rice. friend rice, spring rolls, and crab wontons. Every thing was DELICIOUS. And their spring rolls? Fried to perfection, not dark and overdone like some places. We love this place and will go again. The person taking the orders was super nice and even joked around with my son while we were waiting. As always, I have to put one downside. No sauce to go with the wontons? What's up with that? I used the duck sauce, and they were awessssoommmmmmeeee! Great place, great food, super friendly pepople and we will be regulars from now on.

We've lived in Catonsville for 4 years now and just recently discovered Hunan Joy. Very non-descript building on the corner of Edmondson and Winters Lane, but don't let that fool you. The food is delicious and this is our go-to place for oriental food, even though we have other options that are closer. The Orange Chicken has a good solid flavor with lots of fresh broccoli. The shrimp with lobster sauce is loaded with shrimp and I get extra snow peas. Heavenly! The shrimp toast is to die for and the house fried rice is full of a variety of meat and seafood. The won ton soup is the only negative, in my opinion. The broth has a greasy taste and although it's packed with noodles, there are almost no pork shreds or green onion bits. I do love that you can place your order, sit out in your car and within 10 minutes they are bringing it out to you. Very friendly people!

After moving to the Edmonson area of Catonsville, we decided to give this place a try since it was close. We were hesitant because there never seemed to be any cars! But when we were there waiting for our food, lots of people came in to pick up. Turned out to be great! We first ordered the special Thai Curry which was excellent and very spicy. Their general tso's chicken is nice and crispy and the sauce is balanced between sweet, spicy, and tangy. Egg roll is different than most but good in its own right. They are very friendly and wait has never been too long. The only thing- wish they had a website with a menu! Other than that definitely try!

Very friendly people and cheaper than other places in town. A little too much filler in the food though - the Mongolian beef only had 5 bits of beef and the rest was veg! The combination fried rice was decent and they were right on time.

My family has been coming here from their opening many many years ago. It actually got better over the years the chicken is a white beast meat. They are friendly and helpful. Very reasonable and it is a great value. One of those hidden treasures. I have not found any better. It is very consistent. Highly recommended.

The best Chinese in Catonsville and on this side of Baltimore. All the chicken is white meat and fresh. I usually order the general Tso chicken. Overall fresh, clean, and friendly.

Our favorite for over 16 years! Even though they have changed owners (same family, but they switched restaurants with their relatives in Chicago) the food has always been excellent! Worth a drive even if you're not in Catonsville!

My family has been loyal customers of Hunan Joy for almost 10 years now. Whenever we do not know what to have for dinner we pull up their number on speed dial and ask for our usual order...sesame chicken, veggie fried rice, chicken lo mein, beef and broccoli, sezchuan green beans, sweet and sour chicken, and a few egg rolls. I find myself craving the sesame chicken frequently, it is so delicious and well prepared. Honestly, the food is just as good the next day reheated and there is always a family feud about who gets to finish the leftovers. The service is consistently friendly and welcoming, the food is always ready quickly, and the prices are very reasonable. We have tried many different Chinese restaurants in the area and this one remains our favorite! I have moved away but every time I come home I find myself at Hunan Joy for their delicious food.
