The service here was awful and because of it, I will never again visit a Friendly's. I ordered a club sandwich with no mayo. It was made multiple times with mayo and the waitress demanded that I eat it. She took no responsibility for getting my order wrong and no willingness to make it right. After deciding I wanted to cancel my order, since I couldn't get what I wanted, our waitress then tried to charge us for the food, even though she said she wouldn't. It was truely the worst service I have ever received.

"Unfriendlys" more accurately. Staffed by surly teens for the most part, and the food stinks. As a kid, I could get excited by giant mounds of mediocre sundaes covered in candy bits. Now, not so much, especially if it comes with a side of attitude.

The worst Friendly's Restaurant in the world, I'm sure! Never crowded, but never any service. And, the place is SO dirty. They had dirty entry rugs laying across the benches the other night. I only go here to get Jim Dandys and Reeses Pieces sundaes when we just have to have one after dinner at home since it is so close to home. Would someone please buy this Friendly's and revamp it??!

First time at Friendlys... it was good stuff. slow on a friday morning, got good service, food was good. dunno about lunch or dinner. the ice cream looked delicious, maybe next time.

Absolutely no stars. Horrible service. Waiters and waitresses look like spanked out zombies.

Poor service -- on both occasions employees lounging in the back. Never going back again!

  • A J.

Food is fine, but very understaffed. The employees, for the most part, lounge around and aren't attentive. Often times the booths are dirty. I still will go for their ice cream.

  • Brian M.

Slow service. If you go in just to buy a half-gallon of ice cream or an ice cream cone at the front counter, be prepared to wait for a long time before anyone will acknowledge your presence.

  • Ben P.

Worst... Slow, dirty, completely apathetic staff. Zero stars. I can't help but laugh about the experience now because it felt like something out of a sitcom. Like someone literally had to make an effort to script the entire experience. With a party of 8, we stood at the hostess stand for half an hour waiting with little acknowledgement and no explanation. When finally seated at a wet, but still sticky booth, we waited another 10 minutes for a server who failed to bring us the water we requested, particularly for the two children and one pregnant woman in our party. We then waited another hour to receive the ice cream we initially came in for. An order was incorrect, another completely forgotten, 6 spoons were given for 8 people, no napkins, and we never did get water. The experience was so bad that I finally signed up here on Yelp just to share it.

After cracking crabs down the street, my group of friends was walking off the calories in search of ice cream (don't judge - you've done it). It was late on a Sunday night and all of the good stand-alone ice cream restaurants were closed. We weren't about to let that discourage us and continued on. Like a beacon of hope on a stormy night, we spotted a Friendly's sign in the distance. A fierce debate began. Some of us recounted stories of marvelous ice cream sundaes while others remarked that the service at any Friendly's was so uniformly poor, we'd be better off getting a cone from the McDonald's adjacent. Mistakenly thinking that it was a good way to continue the conversation my boyfriend remarked that he'd never had ice cream from Friendly's - our fate had been sealed. We went in. We stood at the hostess stand for almost 25 minutes. At this point you may be wondering why didn't we leave? Several reasons: pride, pregnancy cravings, and because we had a 5-year old and an 8-year old with us that had latched on to the promise of ice cream. We were finally seated (by the most unhappy and impolite hostess I've ever seen). She directed all 8 of us - including our 8-month pregnant friend, into ONE booth. One booth. While it was nice to think that we all looked fit-enough to accomplish this, this was clearly another warning sign that we ignored. Time passed. Lots and lots of time. Finally someone came to take our order. Since we only wanted ice cream and some waters, we hoped the next leg of our journey would be short. Nope. 35 additional minutes passed. Our server never came back. The 5 year old cried. The 8 year old whined. The 43 year old started coloring with crayons. Our pregnant friend seemed to be closer to her due date than our ice cream was to us. I began to feel like all hope was lost. We asked another server about our order and if we could perhaps all get those waters. Our pregnant friend tried to inject some urgency into the situation remarking that she was clearly dehydrated as she hadn't had to use the restroom in over an hour....that server gave us a blank stare. Clearly we had over-stimulated him. More time passed. We debated leaving. We debated mutiny. We debated storming the kitchen and scooping the ice cream ourselves. My boyfriend was so angry that he joined Yelp on his cell phone at that moment to review the place in the hopes of feeling some sense of control. At last - our ice cream came. 92 minutes later. Within 5 minutes we had consumed the melted sundaes, paid cash (no tip), and ran out the door. The 5 year old wished another family "good luck" as we crossed paths with them in the doorway.

Lousy lousy lousy. I only go there once in a blue moon, when my kids beg and beg anf beg. The food is crap, the place looks dirty, and the service is among the worst I've ever received at any eating establishment, anywhere. Without a doubt. Avoid this place like the plague.

Okay, so I feel it's necessary to revise my previous statements. Took the girlfriend here a couple times when it got late and we didn't want to hit the diner, but wanted something quick and fried, and maybe some ice cream. Now, other Friendly's have been good to us, so we thought this one couldn't be too bad...nope. Slow & less than enthusiastic service, and the food is sub-par for them too, really. Not worth the cash or the time..we won't be going back.

Friendly's ice cream is sooo good, but this Friendly's location is notoriously tragic. The servers are generally nice and well-intentioned enough, but it is so disorganized and poorly managed. Your ice cream comes out at different times, maybe it's a little melted, and at least one person at your table got the wrong order. But I mean, it's Friendly's, so you still go back time and time again and you'd cry if it closed because you aren't going all the way to Glen Burnie for a sundae.

Stopped in with my family to grab ice cream. Our waitress took almost twenty minutes just to get drinks and my mothers had some strange gel balls floating in it. We've been here over an hour and she still hasn't gotten a drink. We finally ordered ice cream and she took so long it was melted before it came to the table. Plus everything came in to-go cups with plastic spoons because no one had done dishes. The bathrooms haven't been cleaned and smells like a port a potty. I used to love this place as a kid, but it's poor management, poor customer service and an overall bad experience. I wish I could blame this on it being a busy Friday night, but it's empty here.

OMG. The manger is drunk, or high, or more likely, he is both. Ridiculous. Edited to add: thank goodness for the competent employees really running this place this evening.

Dirtiest, messiest, laziest restaurant I have ever been into. Was AWFUL. The waitress was the biggest moron I have ever seen. Not since the Donner Party, Has dinner been so revolting. The waitress was dirty, hair unkempt, Just repugnant. She was slow, meandering and stupid. I have never felt such contempt for someone in the food industry before. First she asks if we want drinks, we order root beer and a iced tea. She comes back "Are ya ready tuh ordah?" is how she said it. Since I speak english only I am not sure which dialect she is fluent in. We said no.......She stood there 20 seconds and asked again. I was flabbergasted. I thought surely Ashton Kutcher was sitting on the other side of the wall about to Punk me. (Is it just me or did Bruce Willis get the ultimate punkd' by Ashton? I digress). Then when we did order, We had to speak slow so she could understand us. I had a question as she was walking away and she stood 15 feet away and yelled across the room. No lie. Un-Gordon Ramsay-Believeable. Finally the debacle we knew as Sunday dinner was over. Crappy sundaes on the table she sits down the check and waits...So we just ignore her...she made 3 laps around the restaurant staring at the bill...waiting to snatch it up like Kirstie Alley at a Moon Pie Convention with just one left. She came back 10 seconds later "Can I have dat now?" I sh*t you not. Her tip? 23 cents. I have never not tipped before. But lady, you drove me past the point of no return. Which what that Friendlys in Catonsville is for me. A no return zone. ENTIRE staff needs to be fired. A Steam cleaning crew ran through it and a REAL manager needs to work there.

I wont front, I like Friendlys. I stepped outside the box and ordered the cod which wasn't bad at all. We often take the kids here as they love the chicken strips & ice cream is always a winner for them. The service was good and the establishment was clean so nothing bad to say there. Overall a great location.
