Their new location is beautiful and the new menu is great. Lots of good choices so you're sure to find something you like for whatever price range you're looking for. The black beans side is addictive as are the french fries and dinner rolls! Some of the apps are big enough for an entree or to share. Really good cream of crab soup and I've had several soup du jours that were excellent. They have a good selection of salads and sandwiches/wraps that are available for dinner and lunch. Great bar too!

The service was wonderful but the food was just ok. I had the crab cake sandwich. The crab was amazing but not complimented well. The bread wasn't warm or toasted and the tartar sauce was really mayonnaise. I most likely won't come back.
(3)Janice C.
The food was good. The service was good. They were very accommodating to the young child we had in our party. This is a decent place to dine.
(3)Susan W.
I visit Jimmie & Sooks occasionally because it is just a short walk from my home and convenient. The service is ok, nothing outstanding, and the food is ok. I have been disappointed a couple of times when the food was overcooked and/or too greasy.
(3)Matt K.
Best cream of crab that I ever had. Can't go wrong with this place.
(5)Jake B.
Awesome crab everything. Great place for lunch.
(5)A K.
Complete breakdown of the kitchen the night we were here. Took over an hour to get our food after ordering on a not super crowded night. Much better choices in the same neoghborhood, go there instead.

A really great restaurant. Eight of us decided to come here for dinner because everything in St. Michaels, MD was closed. We were craving seafood and Jimmie and Sooks delivered! We didnt make any reservations but we were seated immediately. Around 7pm the restaurant was 75% full so I recommend getting here a little before 7pm. We received complimentary bread baskets filled with sweet bread and sweet butter. I tried really hard to stay away from bread before my meal but I could not keep away from this bread! Most places do not serve it! It was addictive! For appetizers we ordered Jimmie Bites which are small balls of crab cakes. The crab meat was so fresh. Most places have more batter than crab meat but Jimmie and Sooks was more crab meat than batter. So delicious! One of my friends got the order of a dozen raw oysters. She ate it all by herself and loved it! My other friends ordered the crab soup and gave it two thumbs up. For entrees my friends had the crab cake entree, salmon, blackened chicken, fish and chips, and fried shrimp. Everyone thought their meal was great! However, the blackened chicken was a little greasy. I had the spinach and warm goat cheese with crab meat. It was so good! The goat cheese was SO fresh and melted in my mouth! There was a mound of fresh crab meat in the middle of the salad and was also really good! Only one of us ordered dessert, which was the chocolate peanut butter cake. My friend must have really liked it because he took the rest to go to eat for later. Service was outstanding here!! Our waiter was constantly refilling our glasses or getting us another drink (they serve both beer and wine). We had other members of the wait staff asking us if we needed anything and if we were okay. They really take care of their patrons here. We also asked for separate checks and our waiter hooked us up without issue. There is a parking lot less than half a block away for easy free parking. Oh by the way, dress code here is VERY casual (jeans and t-shirts okay!). I'm so glad we came here!!! By the way, soft shell crabs wont be in season until April.
(5)Jim M.
Great food and service each time we go.
(5)Elaine T.
Great place! Crab bowl dip is to die for! Get it!
(4)David H.
Very good crab cakes and good sides (black beans, green beans, and mashed potatoes). Really good hush puppies. Nice big round tables. Kid friendly

We've been here twice now stopping in as we travel to and fro home in the Pines. Jimmy and Sook's is humble and unpretentious. The atmosphere is casual with slightly more authentic Shore memorabilia than OC tourist traps. Of particular note, the servers here are fast, efficient, and friendly: a stark contrast to the typical OCMD dining experience. And the food. The menu is surprisingly varied for an Eastern Shore establishment. It hits the typical seafood notes you'd expect of the Shore but also a with a few homages to the mid-Atlantic and the South: cheesesteaks, sweet tea, and meatloaf (though with goat cheese). The French fries are exceptional. The seafood chowder, a soup of the day, is rich and chock full of fish. I admit: we were drawn here by the quantity of Yelp reviews. On the Shore, quantity of reviews can tell you more about an establishment -- so long as the reviews are generally positive. And J&S's has some fine reviews. If you're in the area, do visit.
(4)Jane D.
While I'm not typically one to air dirty laundry, I decided to visit J&S again recently after a lackluster experience years ago and, unfortunately, I found the same mediocre fare and disingenuous service. While waiting for our table we were encouraged to have a drink at the bar, which we did. We were met by one of the most discourteous bartenders I have ever encountered. Perhaps she would be better suited in a field where she's not expected to be outgoing, or, for that matter, simply friendly... Our dinner service was comparable. We desperately hoped the food would be J&S's saving grace, however, this was not the case. Three of the four people in my party shared the crab dip appetizer and those three spent the next 24 hrs. violently ill. I guess you can credit J&S with consistency if nothing else because during my previous visit there I had also contracted food poison...
(1)Madeline P.
MUST HAVE: Maryland crab soup!! The cream of crab was delicious also, but the winner is surely the Maryland crab. I stumbled upon this place on our way from Baltimore to Eastern Shore, Virginia. I was so impressed with my food during the first visit, that I made a trip back on my way back to Baltimore. I recommend sitting in the bar area - quicker service.
(5)Beth B.
Fantastic! Very friendly, good bar tenders, professional wait staff. Went two nights in a row while visiting Hyatt in Cambridge. Excellent Salmon dish, excellent short ribs, both prepared like nowhere else! Our party of 4 all enjoyed it both nights. Decor could use updating to accent the great food!
(4)Nick F.
Great Crab Dip. Had Jimmie's Club sandwich very good. We also had a Ahi Tuna Salad which was very good. We ate at the bar. The bartender was poor, at best. We asked for a Nutty Irishman with hot coffee, he came back with some other concoction and told us that it was how their computer told him to make it. No hot coffee ! Huh?????? Great place, deserves a better bartender or at least training for this one.
(4)Karen C.
I am giving the 5 stars for the crab dip! Can make it a meal I did. Came in a freshly made bread bowl. Will be back soon!
(5)Gary B.
Fun place, great service, crab crab crab. What else is there when you are heading to the shore.
(4)David J.
We've dined here twice now and enjoyed both visits. These comments are based on our most recent visit (March 2012)... Jimmie & Sooks is a great place to have a casual bite or beer. The restaurant features an expansive menu with tons of choices, even for the non-seafood lovers. The atmosphere is casual, and the restaurant feels open and uncrowded. Despite it's overall large size, there is not a ton of seating, so be prepared for a wait if you come during peak hours. Overall our food was excellent. My stuffed shrimp (broiled, not fried!), black beans and macaroni and cheese were delicious. My wife's shrimp basket with fries was also wonderful. The one misstep was the hush puppies appetizer; the first order came out cold and raw in the center, but the second batch was great! Thumbs up to Jimmie & Sooks!
(4)Brian C.
I ate a light lunch here with the missus (we shared a few items and kept it simple), so I can't comment on much but everything about this place is a real winner! I'm not local so I can't say when I'll be back, but if I'm back to the Eastern Shore or passing through again, you can be sure this is on my stop list. +1: Ordered a plate of raw oyster from their raw bar. You don't come to the Eastern Shore without getting raw seafood, and they do not disappoint! +1: Also ordered the crab cake basket. Imagine my surprise when I got the crab cakes and they were lightly fried lumps of REAL and fresh crab meat! Served with fries that rival Thrasher's on the boardwalk. +1: The cream of crab soup is delicious (the waitress said it was award-winning and I believe it). Creamy, flavorful, all around quality with LOTS of crab meat. Didn't get to try the Maryland crab soup but I bet it's jut as good. +1: We ordered a side garden salad and were pleasantly surprised by the quality and assortment of the greens, as well as the size of the portion. The homemade balsamic vinaigrette dressing was also delightful. Finally, our server was polite, friendly (people are just friendlier on the Eastern Shore in general), and on point with everything. And in true Maryland tradition, hooked us up with malt vinegar and Old Bay for the fries when we simply asked for the condiments.

Jimmie and Sooks was a real treat! A very down to earth establishment with friendly service is just what I expected. We had a short wait on a Wednesday evening - maybe about 20 minutes. We used the time to peruse the menu so that we could order as soon as we were seated. I started with a pair martini which was delish! I think it was made with Pear Vodka and Amaretto. Hubby had the French martini and loved it too. Drinks are on the generous side. We shared an order of oysters and cream of crab soup. The oysters were fabulous - sweet and on the fat side. With only a drop of lemon on each, they were the best we've had in a long time (even counting some of the fancier 5-star restaurants we've frequented)! The creamy crab soup was top notch -- loved the sweet chunks of crab meat throughout. They did no skimp on the crab. Hubby had the rock fish stuffed with crab imperial. It came with a side of macaroni and cheese and snap peas. It was very tasty -- the rock fish was a nice light white fish and the crab imperial just added a creaminess to make it a perfect pairing. I had the crab cakes - YUM! Five-star for just the crab cakes alone. They were nicely crisp on the outside and full of succulent crab meat . . . no filler. Our server was delightful and energetic as were the other service people in the restaurant. Highly recommend for a great lunch or dinner in Cambridge!

Place is a mix of locals and tourists. Good place for local food. Had the crab cake sandwich which was outstanding. Their bbq pulled pork is not really that tender, but whatever sauce they use is really good. Their crab balls are good too. The french fries could definitely be better. Their other sandwiches and hamburgers are not really worth getting.
(3)Ryan M.
Wow, what a hot seafood/shore dining spot! We ordered the Jimmy's Bites (crab cake balls) which were incredible and loaded with blue crab and very little filler, and the crab cake sandwich which also was almost all blue crab. The french fries were among the best we've ever had, the black beans were very good, plus they had some excellent local craft beers on tap, Yuengling on tap, malt vinegar on the table, homemade tartar sauce, and great photos on the wall. The crab is super-fresh. If you're on the eastern shore (Cambridge, St. Michael's, or driving down south) make sure to plan on Jimmie and Sooks for lunch or dinner. The only thing missing is having the restaurant on a dock, otherwise it's exactly what you want from a seafood shack.
(5)Critico G.
We stopped in for what we hoped to be a great atmosphere and delicious fresh seafood. After being there for only a couple of minutes we realized that this was not the place for us. We had some beer and hushpuppies then left.
(2)Raymond E.
Great place to go for cheap seafood. Restaurant is clean, atmosphere is friendly and laid back and service is excellent. I can see taking my toddler here because there is just the right amount of "busy noise" that I won't feel embarrassed if she acts out. Even so, the background music is muted so you don't feel like you have to speak up to talk to your table guests. My wife and I had the Jimmy bites (little crab cake balls) and the fried oyster basket. Both come with fries but they let us substitute one of the fries for coleslaw, no problem. The fried oysters were great, not greasy at all, and the crabcake balls were delicious. The fries were seasoned with sea salt and coarsely ground pepper (looks like little black flakes). Yummy. They were also very quick at refilling my diet coke every time it got empty. I would go back here again next time I'm in the area and would not hesitate to bring my friends.
(5)Margaret K.
I love Jimmie & Sooks! I've been there a few times now and feel like the service is consistently good. The waitresses are friendly and attentive. I've gone with large parties and they set up the tables so that they could accommodate us comfortably. The drinks are great! The cocktails are a little pricey, but that is to be expected. The food is wonderful as well. I love the crab dip appetizer to share with friends. The lump crab salad is my favorite, as well as the crab cake. Their other dishes such as fish and chips, turkey melt sandwich, and others were also very appetizing. I look forward to trying more drinks and food here soon!
(5)Dave G.
Great food. Great price friendly wait staff. Nothing fancy in terms of the ambiance but the food was well prepared and tasty. We would definitely go back. Cream of crab soup was great. Ribs were well prepared and tasty. Dessert, an eclair, was just ok. Not fresh and served too cold. But good.
(4)Matt S.
On our list of regular places to go out to eat. I highly recommend the Jimmy's Club Sandwich, a club sandwich with crab cake...it's my favorite. Great atmosphere, and a local owner who is hands-on involve, making sure dishes being served are perfect.
(5)Christine R.
LOVED it! Entrees delish and the chocolate-coconut bread-pudding was to die for!! Service was a little funky but the staff is so cute and kind, you don't even care! :)

(06/24/2012) Nice little place in historic downtown part of Cambridge. New digs are shiny and modern with plenty of of TVs at the dark wood bar. Food was good, crabmeat was local, prices were reasonable. The Jumbo Lump Crab Cake was on the small side (about 4 oz.), but sweet and lumpy, well-seasoned but subtle. Both sides were sufficient: Mac 'n' Cheese was cheesy but not gooey, touch bland; potatoes in the potato salad were somewhat underdone and not tender, mayonnaise-based, slightly tart dressing was runny. The other dishes at the table looked good, and were well-received: Salmon BLT on rye toast, Jimmie Club (Louise's crab cake [backfin], American cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, mayo), Sook Chicken (grilled chicken breast topped with crab imperial). The oysters from the raw bar were aquaculture from the Choptank, lightly briny, seemed to have lost a lot of the liquor, so were kind of on the dry side for an oyster. On the bar side, the bartender was doing double-duty on the tables, kind of tough on him, but he was earnest. Seemed to be a popular local spot for families as well as the happy hour crowd.

Thanks to Yelp for helping us know about Jimmy & Sooks. We were staying at Hyatt for long weekend and nothing on their menu looked attractive to us and then the prices there made us venture out for better food. Based on Yelp ratings we decided to try out the place even though we are not much into seafood. To our surprise we enjoyed everything we ordered. I never liked crabcakes before. I ate at some great places like in St Micheals before but decided to stay away from them. But our waiter recommended crabcake bites and we decided to try as they were not expensive. I think we ended up ordering them two more times. I ordered Fish and chips and our kids ordered some shrimp dishes. Everything was excellent. A must visit place for anyone in Cambridge area. More so for people staying at Hyatt as the good there is crazy expensive and not great either. Just the tips cost there would pay for the food here.
(5)Christine C.
We ordered both crab soups on recommendation from Katie C.-- she was great, as were the soups! Also had the ribs--delicious! Mac n cheese and mashed potatoes were amazing and great key lime mousse! We bought almost all of your shirts-- we were total tourists... And the service wsa worth coming back for!! Thanks for the one of the best meals we had in Cambridge.
(4)Noelle M.
Great crabcakes...maybe best around!
(5)Doug Y.
We tried this restaurant on our first night while staying at the Hyatt in Cambridge for a long weekend. The owner is very friendly and attentive to customers. Fresh seafood options abound. I had the fried oysters and fries and my wife and daughter shared the fish and chips. Both were reasonably priced, fresh, and very good. Only one complaint. No dedicated kids menu.
(5)Lisa L.
We recently went here since I saw the good ratings on Yelp. It was nearby since we stayed at the Hyatt. My husband said his Raw Oysters were delicious & not at all fishy. We also had Littleneck Clams, Jimmie Bites (crabcake balls), Warm Goat Cheese & Crab Spinach Salad, Gina's Fish N Chips (fries were kinds soggy), and Maryland Crab Soup (very thick since so much crab & veggies). The place was packed but service was super attentive & friendly. I think my soda was refilled 5X. Prices were very reasonable. I can see why it's a local favorite!
(4)Rainer F.
My four star rating is relative to other restaurants in this area. In Boston, DC, etc it would be a solid three. We dined here twice during a stay in Cambridge. Unpretentious but comfortable place. The hot crab dip turned out to be very very good. We tried a variety of entrees, seafood and non-seafood. They were quite decent but not particularly outstanding. The "award winning" cream of crab was fine but didn't have the spectrum of flavors I would have expected from an award winning soup. In summary, a great place to go and hang out with friends but not a destination for a memorable meal or a romantic date.
(4)Kyle W.
It's a great place to eat out at, because the food is great and the service is fast and very friendly. The atmosphere is a mix of beachy and fishermans wharf. It is a fun place to go out and eat at a very reasonable price. If you are in Cambridge it has to be one of the stops you make.
(5)Geoff E.
Cambridge (and the eastern shore) has very little in terms of dining out, but Jimmie and Sooks is a good place to stop when you're nearby. It's a bit like a dive bar meets family restaurant. Lunch is mostly pub food made fresh and well - even the fries are hand cut. I like it when I get real food from a restaurant. They have about 20 sandwiches, salads and baskets to choose from. I had a crab cake and my wife had a chicken cheese steak. Crab cake was fresh but a bit on the small side, and the chicken cheese steak was a good portion. Nothing ground breaking but good fresh cooking - and that's what I've come eastern shore food to be. I would expect dinner to follow suit. I recommend this as an off-the-path stop while staying in Cambridge or driving through. I don't recommend this as a destination, but would encourage a visit while near by.
(4)Marjorie S.
Was surprised by the great service (prompt, willing to split check for 7 people with no complaints) and good food.
(5)Monica W.
A buck a Shuck is what drew me in to this place. I was on the hunt for oysters. They were briny and plump. Just what I needed. The service was also fast and friendly. For dinner I had the surf and turf which was a rib eye and a crab cake. The crab cake was about the size you would put an a cracker and didn't taste home made, the steak was just ok and the broccolli tasted like it has been cooked and reheated i.e. no crunch. For the over $30 price tag of the entree I was a bit disappointed. I would probably go back for the oysters and cocktails next time I'm in Cambridge but not for the surf and turf.

While staying in Cambridge for Memorial Day weekend, a group of friends and I were ravenous after a long night. Being unfamiliar with the area we scoured the net for some solid dining options and came across Jimmy & Sooks. A group of 12 of us arrived around noon on a Saturday to a relatively empty restaurant. The crab décor (Including small crab cages and a sweet giant crab that was over the mantle of their fireplace) fit the environment nicely. I ordered a special for the day: Fried Catfish Po-boy with remoulade sauce along with their award winning crab soup and a bloody mary to pick me up after my evening. The bloody mary was awful, completely watered down and with entirely too much horseradish. I was later asked by my server "How are your drinks? It's the bartender's 2nd day." The soup arrived a short time later and it was amazing. Whatever awards it won are certainly merited. Huge chunks of crab in a cream broth with a touch of spice to it. The po-boy was enormous, two big'ol pieces of fried catfish on a sub roll with lettuce and tomato...but is this really remoulade? It certainly looks and tastes like spicy honey mustard. The catfish was fantastic though, and I ended up taking 1/2 of it home to be devoured at a later date. My friends ordered everything from baskets of shrimp (really good), crab dip (Also, really good), to another special, a soft-shell crab sandwich (two crabs barely fit on the bread). Overall it was a pleasant experience and I would definitely recommend it to anyone in the Cambridge area looking to grub on some good seafood.

Our son introduced us to Jimmie & Sooks while visiting with him at the nearby Horn Point Lab about 2 years ago. Recently we were traversing the length of the DelMarVa peninsula via Route 13 and we just had to make a detour to stop back in. It was just as good as the previous times we were there. I had the Fried Shrimp. Again. The menu description says it very well: "The best fried shrimp you will ever have in your life. Seriously!" They are so good it is hard for me to think of trying something else! My wife had Louise's Crab Cake. Again. It was truly among the best she ever had, too. Hush Puppies were back. It was hard to eat just 3. or was that 4? actually, it was probably 6 or 7, stopping only when the main dish arrived! We did not have dessert this time, but it was very tempting. We know from a prior visit that if you have any room left, the desserts are equally delicious. We were also very pleased with the service. We will be back!
(5)Yikchi F.
Good food in a lovely space. Service is attentive. Food is decent but not spectacular and a bit pricey in my opinion. Ingredient are fresh and the execution is good. Overall, an enjoyable experience.
(3)Samantha L.
We were passing through and withy the good reviews decided to stop. I had the Sook Chicken Sandwich and it was great! We also ordered the calamari and the bus puppies. I haven't had such good hush puppies since I was a kid and my grandma made them. So good. The calamari was also good, the sauce that came with them was really amazing. My husband had the Jimmie Club which he thought was good but he was also full from the apps. I brought leftover hush puppies and they are even good cold! Makes me wish that we lived closer! I also learned by stopping here that a sook is a female crab and a Jimmie is a boy!
(5)Dave B.
I think the kitchen staff was hungover today. I am normally very positive but I left Jimmy and Sooks baffled. Apps: Ordered hush puppies that arrived still frozen in the middle, no big deal, sent them back to fry a little longer. Came back hot and bartender was apologetic. Didn't come with any condiments. Beer selection was very good. Lunch: wife ordered a Caesar salad with a crab cake on top, turns out that was $28!!!!! Must have had diamond flakes mixed with the lump. The crab cake entree cost less and included an additional crab cake so naturally I was confused by this logic. I ordered a chicken cheese steak. Came served with cold French fries. I started eating the sand which and to my surprise mixed with the chicken was chunks of salmon. How did salmon get in my chicken sandwich??? Again, bartender was very nice, apologetic and took it back to the kitchen. My wife finished her $30 side salad while I waited 10-15 minutes for my new sand which that arrived on a small bread plate with no French fries! I was too confused and didn't want to bother the bartender anymore so I just ate quickly asked for the check, paid and left. They did comp me $10 which was ok I guess. Just baffled by my experience because others seemed to enjoy it.
(1)Mary Ellen B.
Food is amazing, large open atmosphere with exposed kitchen. Staff is friendly and very eager to please. Food is freshly prepared, crab dip is amazing. Dined with 5 people and various selections were chosen, all were very good.We went back for lunch a day later. Lunch was perfect.
(5)Mallory M.
I came into town for the eagleman 70.3 and my family and I were looking to eat a good meal right before the big race. This restaurant came up for a good review and I'm so upset to say this has been the worst restaurant of the trip this far. TERRIBLE AND POOR SERVICE!!! Do not come here. Just terrible
(1)José M.
I came to eat here alone and got a margarita and then seafood nachos. They were both delicious and the server was incredibly friendly and checked on me often. I would definitely come back.
(5)John-Michael J.
Been here a couple times now. Both times sat at the bar and drink water. Got crab both times. BOTH Times was excellent!!! This is the place to compare others crab to. First time was a crab club sandwich. Was not on menu this time, new summer menu was out. Got crab cake and wow. I can not say enough about the bartender also. Andy I think. Ran his butt off to make sure everyone was happy. They were out of tshirts on this visit but I will be back!!!!
(5)Mike R.
Had the hoytee toytee crab cake. It's a small but delicious cake. Apple sauce tasted like pie filling (). Fries were basic. Loved the cream of crab soup! Fried seafood platter was small but everything was tasty. It was the perfect amount of food.

UNSATISFACTORY, UNPROFESSIONAL and UNDERMINING is just a few words I use to describe our experience with Jimmie & Sook's. We recently hosted a family dinner & birthday event at this restaurant, and we regret giving them our business and money! Despite our efforts to stay in constant contact with management and provide them with ALL of our needs well in advance, it was apparent through the service we received that the business is suffering from poor management. The servers were polite, personable and it appears as though they genuinely want to do a good job; however, they are under developed, not valued and seemingly some are over worked. UNSATISFACTORY We had a prix-fixe menu for our family dinner and provided the restaurant with each attendees order a week in advance. We waited an hour for our food to arrive at the table, the meals were OK (my sweet potato was burned), and instead of offering us bread while we waited, a server brought us a bowl of crackers to share 10 minutes before our food arrived. Also, there were individuals arriving in the restaurant after our party that were served their food before we received our orders. We were told we could arrive when the restaurant opened to set-up the catering room for the birthday party. However, when we arrived the catering room was not cleaned from a party held the night before, and we were left to clean up prior to set up for our event. The alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages were water down. Even the ginger ale tasted like seltzer water with honey---yuk! UNPROFESSIONAL Prior to the event day we paid in full for the catering room, the balance due at the end of our event was only for dinner. Although we had several conversations with the manager on duty about how displeased we were with dinner, he stated that he had only worked at Jimmie & Sook's for three days and had not yet been trained on how to log into their POS system to enter orders or provide customers with a refund or discount. He explained to us that he knew nothing about our event, that the night of our event was the first time he had seen our contract. UNDERMINING What the manager on duty was able to offer us for all the inconvenience we suffered was coupons to Applebee's, the restaurant he use to manage, and tell us that he would have never set-up our event the way it was set-up by the person in charge of events. As a matter of fact, the manager on duty stated that we would have had a buffet style dinner, which we never knew was an option. I give this restaurant one stars because patronize them??? NO, NOT EVER AGAIN!!! also, because Yelp won't allow me to post this entry without giving a rating. If I could I'd give Jimmie & Sook's NO STARS!
(1)Marc W.
Stick to the "bar fare" like the wings. The tuna and the salmon were both painfully over cooked (I requested rare as it was described as sushi-grade) and the calamari sauce had 1/2lb of sugar in it. Skip dinner and grab ice cream next door at Gina's.
(2)Meghan C.
We were a party of 8 big foodies. We always keep an open mind coming into any establishment. Restaurant was only 1/4 full and service was very very slow. Oysters were not shucked properly, it took forever to get them. When our entrees finally arrived they forgot one. Said it would be about 10 mins before we would get it. Plenty of other restaurants in town, I would go to one of them.
(2)Grand Y.
This place is very hit-and-miss. This place gets 2 stars because the southwest chicken salad was good, and the burger was decent. Everything else was awful: Calamari was just deep-fried batter, with a spattering of squid bits. Fish tacos were soft tacos filled with nasty cole slaw and a few bits of deep-fried, battered fish. Really? Fish and chips were GREASY, fried batter over a sliver of fish. The fries sucked. All oil, no potato. Despite this place being empty when were there, we had to flag down people to get drinks/refills/food. The bathrooms were gross.
(2)Andrew G.
We've been coming here every summer for six years, and their Hoytee Toytee crab cakes put others to shame. They're succulent pieces of crab held together, rather than corn meal with crab pieces inside. When we've had crabcakes in more expensive restaurants, we always commented "they don't compare to Jimmie & Sooks." And, until this year, they were a great value - two for $28. We went back on Sunday night, and much to our surprise, they had jacked up the price to $28 for one. This isn't your gradual "the price of crabs has gone up" increase, it's so dramatic that you wonder what else is going on. I'm afraid to say that our days of enjoying this otherwise gem of a restaurant may be dwindling.
(3)Holly D.
I've been here three times....well decorated and cute and clean... but the acoustics are terrible if you want to talk...it's a bar through and through, bricks, television and the rest. I was not impressed with my seafood trio at all, or my steak diane and stuffed shrimp. but my friends liked the BLT, hush puppies, crab napoleon, pot pie and mussels. The last time we ate outside which was much better and my pals loved the beer selection. Seemed quite high priced, but then it could just be the east coast. Cute little koi pond in the back to amuse children while we waited. We will go back because there just aren't that many good places to eat in this small community.

Lunch with my wife while in Cambridge. I got the Jimmie club and the wife her usual fish and chips. Lovely eastern shore character. We shared a bowl of cream of crab soup. It was good but needed to be warmer. Fish was tough. Club was good but not one I'd have to have again.

We enjoyed our dinner here. It was decent food and decent price. The bar was nice and had great selection of craft beers. Crab dip...really good and served in bread bowl!!! Calamari...was good but not great Broiled seafood trio...I liked the imperial shrimp the best. It was very good.

Vacationed at a little cottage in Cambridge call the Cottage at Heron Cove. The owners of the cottage told us that we had to go Jimmie & Sooks if we wanted good seafood. They were right. My wife, 3 kids, and I all enjoyed our meals. And the staff was extremely attentive even though they were slammed. This is a must go to when you are close to Cambridge!

Decided to take a detour off of Rt 50 and look for lunch. Stopped into Jimmie and Sook's and we are glad we did. The crab soup was excellent. I ordered the fried shrimp. They were large, juicy and perfectly fried. My husband had the fried rockfish sandwich. Fried to perfection. Glad we found this gem.

We are local to the Shore and have heard good reviews but today they missed the mark! Cream of crab soup was luke warm and jello in consistency. The fish in the Fish and Chips was tough and tasted like frozen tuna. Chips were just shoe string fries. My husband went with the Jimmies Club. It was interesting but he wouldn't get it again.

Looking for the local's hangout? This is the place. Great beer selection both draft & bottles. Steamed shrimp with old bay we're huge. The Hoytee-Toytee Crabcake was fantastic. No filler just lump meat. Great family atmosphere and service was very timely. Super friendly staff. Definitely a comeback when in Cambridge.

We were in Cambridge for a wedding and wanted to stop for crabcakes. My husband considers himself a bit of a connoisseur. Found this place thanks to yelp. Service was incredibly friendly... maybe even too friendly, if that's possible... Food was solid. Crabcakes were good, but small, by my husband's standards. We also ordered the hush puppies, which were good, not amazing. Mac and cheese side is delicious and there is a large assortment of beers. Food came quickly and was reasonably priced. Overall, a good experience for the price.

HUSH PUPPIES!!!!!, Oh how I love thee, let me count the ways! My husband and I were on the road with the wee one when we came across this main street eatery. The decor inside was a bit 'corporate', but we chalked that up to just weird taste in style. I'm soooo glad we stayed for a bite. The service was great and our waitress was so personable, she answered our many questions about the area as well as providing good service. We were delighted to see a live lobster tank with which we could entertain our daughter and then were even more astounded to find a lovely, semiprivate outdoor area that was featuring live acoustic guitar the day we were there. In addition to the hush puppies (that had a wonderful amount of onion in them), we had the oysters and the Ruben sandwich. The Ruben was so buttery soft and delicious, the meat was one of the most tender cuts I've had on a Ruben - and I LOVE Rubens and have had my fair share to sample. My husband loved the oysters, he said they were very fresh and they had a good variety from which to choose. The great weather, good food and service, and ambiance makes this a place worth visiting again.

Andy met us at the door, walked us in and to the bar and had a smile on his face the whole time. He really made us smile. But more importantly we went directly for the crab cake sandwich, it was awesome. Definitely a must to stop, great and inviting staff, awesome food and character.

No actual fresh local crabs, snow crabs? What? Crab cakes, crab soup, but not Maryland crabs during crab season? They do have steamers, oysters, but oddly despite their new being male and female crab they do not serve real fresh Maryland crabs. Misleading.

Sorry, I give this place 3 stars, because,my expectations were high, but the best was the young bartender and the patrons in the bar. We visited on a Sunday slow night. I would have expected spot on food, but to many hit and misses here. The mussels in broth were good, but lacked any bread or toast with this dish, to elevate the meal. The clams in the wine laddered broth were a total neglect, it lacked execution on the chefs part. The crab cake was cold, but had good flavoring and texture. Again, the ambiance, decor was there, but the chef was MIA today!

Wonderful food and service. Seafood was fresh and tasty. Other food and sides were really good. Sweet potato was great. Crab cake was best we had during 4 days in Chesapeake. Only slight negative was the appetisers and main course was served too close together. But all ended well with amazing desserts. Peanut butter tart was amazing.

What a shame.. I've always heard good things about this place. We had three servers. One to take our drink order, one to take our food order, and one to deliver the food and give us the check. All the while, none of them introduced themselves. Once our food arrived, everyone on the floor must have taken a community smoke break. Could not find a single server, or the hostess for that matter. My boyfriend's seafood nachos were deplorable. Seafood cold, cheese not even melted? For the Eastern Shore, I expected much better. Once the wait staff came back from wherever they all were, they immediately started to do their side work. Cleaning tables, sweeping, polishing silverware... Nobody once came back to check on us after our food was delivered. I guess our server guesstimated when we were finished completely, and asked would we like a box. No mention of how everything was, would we like anything else... just gave us the impression that she wanted her tip and wanted us to leave. My 13% tip was generous. Won't be returning.

Plenty of good reviews for this restaurant, which is what brought me here. I will add though that they are all true and the food is delicious. The cream of crab soup was a highlight for me. Even the garden salad was above average as the dressing wasn't standard fare and tasted locally made. I'm so full I feel like my tummy is going to explode and I took leftovers home. Iced tea is made there and delicious.

We picked this place on the way back from a crabbing trip in MD based on its good reviews on Yelp. The dish I ordered was an Ahi Tuna salad. Unfortunately, it was a disaster. The soba noodles were stiff. The mixed greens in the salad were not only sparse but were brown and slimy as if they had gone bad days ago. To put the cherry on top, I found a piece of saran wrap IN MY SALAD. Thankfully, our server was kind enough to take the salad off the check and bring me the cream of crab soup.

I couldn't agree more with Matt S. who directed us to Jimmy & Sooks for a recent lunch outing, while we were in Cambridge. The food was just delicious - heaping mounds of crispy, well-seasoned, hot fries and tasty, well-considered sandwiches. The pickles (you wouldn't think there'd be much to say about pickles, would you?) were crisp, and an actual highlight of the plate, rather than an afterthought. The staff was attentive and friendly. And best of all - for all of this, the prices were so reasonable! I will absolutely be back!

Nice seafood options. We went with mussels, mixed boil bucket and a hoytee toytee crab cake with no filler. Mussels had great texture, but could have used more seasoning. Crab cake was excellent.

This is the first review I ever wrote, I truly felt obligated to do so. I wouldn't even call this place average, the food was tasteless and dry. While we were awaiting our food I heard the "chef" use a microwave multiple times to prepare the food... Came in with 3 people for lunch. We ended up paying 90+$ for an average crab cake, the most bland mashed potatoes I have ever had in a restaurant and soggy veggies (23$), hard & chewy calamari (clearly frozen, 13$), basic blt with burned fries (16$), and a routine salad with decent shrimp (21$). I would give this place 3 stars if it wasn't for the outrageous prices, whoever rated this place more than 3 stars clearly never visited a decent restaurant. The only positive aspect of my meal was the service, which was pretty good. My overall experience was disappointing to say the least, i feel ripped off and i pray my family and I do not get sick, trust me, these reviews are very misleading. Never coming back!

Good spot. We were staying at the Chesapeake Hyatt and came into town for dinner and glad we did. Service - Our server was very engaging and helpful in selecting dishes. A+ for service. Everyone was helpful, polite, and attentive. Ambiance - The setup and decree was also very cool. The restaurants is split in half with one side having the kitchen and dining tables. The other side had a classy and sizable bar with 5+ TV's. looked like a good place to watch Sunday football. Dress was casual - I wore a TV shirt and was fine. Food - mostly seafood and mostly fried. Crab cakes were 4 out of 5. Crab dip was 5 out of 5. Shrimp dishes were 4 out of 5. We got the "regular" crab cake. Next time we would try the "hoidy toidy" crab cake. Can't explain the different but sounds like it was a premium version of what we ordered. Loved it and will go back. Hard to eat healthy here :)

This place has awesome food and good service. The crabcakes are the best and everything is very fresh.

Really good food, good beer selection and friendly service. We have a student at Salisbury and this is a great stop on the way The crab cakes are well loved by my wife and son. The fries are loved by all. They tend to focus on local seafood and care about food quality and guest happiness. Stop by if you are close.

I had pretty high hopes based on everyone else's reviews. Unfortunately I was disappointed. When we walked in it smelled very strongly of bleach. The bar side of the restaurant looked nice, wish I would have sat there. The food for me was below average. The Jimmie Bites were about the only positive for me food wise, all crab and not greasy. The crab dip did come with a fair amount of crab but it was smothered with melted cheddar cheese so that's all you could taste. And it said it came with mini pretzel loaves .. I guess that means mini French baguettes.. But only 1... It's extra if you want another one for the rest of the dip, and when they are toasted the bottom of the bread was so hard it just crumbled when you tried to take a slice. The fish and chips were average..the portion size was decent but it had no flavor. The fries were soggy and flavorless. On a good note the wait staff was very friendly. But won't be returning for the food.

Made the detour on the way back from ocean city. Well worth the 5 minutes it takes to drive here. Great food and beer, much better then any chain on 50.
(3)Navin G.
The service was great except the waitress forgot our silverware. The crab cake was the best I ever had. The fries were nice and crispy. Overall a very good meal.

Shocked at these great reviews. Tried to go to Bistro Poplar, but it was closed. It was Tuesday Steak Night so we ordered Prime Rib and another special, the Rockfish. Fish was the operative word, since it was too fishy to eat. The prime rib was hard to cut and harder to chew. Prime rib is traditionally fatty, but this serving was hard to eat. Also got calamari as an appetizer, and it was ok but way too breaded/ fried for our taste. Drinks were cold and good. So maybe a good place for sitting at the bar. Will not be going back.

Great spot to get some fried appetizers & beer with a group of friends. We came when Still Counting was playing (AWESOME BAND). Our server was great. She easily accommodated our group of 14 without breaking a sweat. The food was well fried. It's hard for me to rate fried food cause it all tastes the same to me. They did have a good selection of beer & with a full bar can make any drink you can dream up. Fun place to go on a Saturday night!
(4)Sheila R.
Crab dip is awesome! The crab cake was the best I've had. The service was excellent. Will definitely come back.
(5)L L.
Consistently good food. We had fish on four different occasions. Nothing fancy, but that is its appeal. Come as you are and eat rich food.
(4)Chad M.
Incredible bar, great food, great bands, excellent service in a fun town.
(5)Danielle L.
Besides the uncontrollable loud mouth drunks everywhere we waited twenty minutes for out waitress to come back for our check and instead she was taking shots behind the bar in which we had to walk our check up to the front. Their service is completely unprofessional and the food is in no way worth that.
(1)Debbie H.
Went on a Saturday night with a party of ten...6 adults and 4 children...all ten of us were very pleased with our meals. The waitress was SUPER attentive and cheerful. She was also very helpful in deciding which of the many food choices we would choose! Will definitely go back next time in Cambridge!

Stopped here on the way across Maryland. Great find. Everything on the menu looked great. We had time for lunch so we had to choose wisely. Ended up ordering the Jimmie bites (crab cake balls + homemade fries), crab cocktail, cream of crab soup and the Maryland crab soup. All delicious. The service at the bar was very attentive and helpful.
(4)N B.
Crabby goodness. Delicious cream of crab soup, meaty crabcakes, and huge juicy fried oysters. This hit my seafood craving in the best way possible. Very authentic, hometown atmosphere. There was live music when we showed up, which provided a nice complement to the food. Definitely does not reek of tourist-trap, which was refreshing. Super friendly staff gave me a beer discount when one of the local craft brews was out of stock and I substituted a more expensive one. Great seafood spot.

I think the crab cakes here a probably usually great. Mine came out golden brown and crispy on the outside. I took a bite which tasted delicious, but the inside was quite cool. I told our server, Austin, and he was super nice about it. He said it happens sometimes, and he'd take care of it right away. I nibbled at my fries while waiting for a new crab cake. The new crab cake was hot, but it was mushy, not golden brown, and the texture of the crab was a bit chewy. So, I think I just got two fluke crab cakes in a row. The fish and chips were advertised as catfish, but we're certain it was just a white fish of some sort - all the catfish we've had always has a distinct and delicious flavor. This fish was bland. Mojitos were great. As mentioned, service was great. The cook even stopped on his way by our table to apologize for the cool crab cake - he seemed sincere.

I was happy with this little adventure. I usually don't like sea food but the ahi was amazing and the waiter Austin was very friendly and helpful. Total rockstar status on food and service. Touristy place... obviously. Prices were acceptable. Didn't have many "Signature" dishes that I'd hope for when I go on vacation since I do like to try new things. As we were leaving the bad was getting ready to start playing. Seems to be a big local hang out based on how people were interacting with the host and the waiters and the friendly atmosphere and ambiance.
(4)Charlie K.
Cool spot with a nice bar and decent amount of beers on draft. Really enjoyed the crab cakes and crab dip.
(4)J W.
The crabcakes were certainly awesome. They seemed busy when we arrived and it was seat yourself. The service was ok but we had to ask another server for utensils after our appetizer came out. I will say though, the pan fried twin crabcake meal was awesome and as a native Marylander they were up to standards.

They recently remodeled and the space is much larger and nicely appointed. The bar is large, lively with TVs and fun. There is separate raw bar which is near the kitchen and back door which is a fun spot. Service is friendly and prompt. Dinner rolls - OMG - I could make a meal of these. They are the BEST. Otherwise the food is good. There's nothing on the menu for vegetarians. When I asked, I was directed to the house salad. Ho Hum. I ordered a menagerie of side dishes (baked potato, cole slaw and fried squash). But the rolls!!! YUM. Wish they would have placed bistro tables out front for sidewalk dining instead of the row of rocking chairs. But they have a few tables out back, just not as nice scenery. It's a better spot for drinks than dinner in my opinion, but worth trying if you're in town. They also have Sunday brunch - haven't tried it/can't rate it - but it's good to know! There aren't many weekend breakfast places within walking distance downtown, so I'll check it out.

Awesome place.great service from kristin. Awesome food, the best oysters I've ever had,Mr. Willeysoysters. Great crab cak and flatiron steak.

I went tonight with my best friend and our girl friends and I have to admit it was pretty good, way better than I expected. I was so hungry I didn't take to good of a look at the menu I got the bay and hay which is the steak and crab cake. (Ribeye) medium rare. With cole slaw and mashed potatoes. The steak was cooked to perfection and the crab cake was cooked to a golden brown color ( perfect) the only place I think of that has a better cake is the st Michaels crab house. The mashed potatoes tasted a little old like they had been sitting for a couplrle hours and the slaw was a little bland. But the service was great. Ill definitely be going there more often. Oh! And it wasn't expensive at all.

This is a wonderful, fun, happy restaurant in downtown Cambridge. We arrived by sailboat and were traveling with our dog. They were kind enough to let us sit at one of the two rod iron bistro tables out on the front sidewalk for dinner with the dog snoozing under the table. The menu has a good selection of sandwiches, and casual seafood. I would rate the atmosphere higher than the food, but all in all it was a treat and will definitely be back. It seems to be very popular with families with small children who like the animated feel of the restaurant, as well as locals who gather for the live music. This restaurant has something for everyone.
(4)Steve W.
The crab cake may have been the best ever. The only reason I'm not giving them five stars was that it was packed for lunch so service was a bit slow. They also burnt my food, however I'll give them props for not serving to me but instead re-preparing it \. Definitley worth the wait and evidently quite the local favorite.
(4)Dave F.
You must try the new seafood nacho appetizer! It's soooooo good!
(4)Susie H.
My husband and I stumbled upon this unpretentious gem after biking at Blackwater Refuge! We were totally surprised at the presentation and quality of the lunches we were served. The staff were efficient and friendly and the food was wonderful! I do have to add that we prefer to eat vegan and found few options on the menu but when our tuna and salmon arrived at the table we were glad we were flexible enough to order fish. We would definitely be happy to eat there again!

This catchy sounding name and over-hyped website made me run down to visit, everything sounded so good. NOT. First off, they need to invest in a sign, I walked past the place about three times before I realized where it was, guess visitors are not welcome. The atmosphere left a lot to be desired, they tout live entertainment so I was expecting something larger and less lit. The steamed clams I had were horrible, very, very tiny, no flavor at all, as if they boiled them in a pot of plain unseasoned water. The crab legs were very light, many of them had no meat at all, and they were waterlogged as well. The best thing was the two drinks I had. The girl singing wasn't so bad either, but she was not enough to make me ever want to eat there again.

Visiting Cambridge with family this week. Hyatt recommended jimmie&sooks and what a great choice. The food was great as well as the service. Brought back a menu to the hyatt so others could enjoy. The kids loved the food and the fries especially.
