Came here with my husband early on a Friday. Greeted by very sweet and warm hostesses. The hibachi tables were very full, so we chose to sit by the bar. I really enjoyed the décor. It's certainly in the vein of a Japanese steak house, but it's cool and not tacky looking. Our waitress, Ami (sp?), was super fun and friendly. We ordered some sushi and beer before we decided on dinner. We got a Philadelphia roll and a Baltimore roll. Both were spectacular. The Philly one being both our favorite of the two. The Sapporo was ice cold. I got filet mignon with scallops, my husband got filet mignon with shrimp. Both entrées came with soup and salad. The soup was traditional onion broth, and it was ok. The salad was fresh and dressing, beyond delicious. I don't know what secret they have, but I would have drank a glass of that ginger dressing. Our entrées were amazing... Oh!... and I forgot. You can choose to have an extra appetizer of either shrimp, mushroom, or chicken liver. This isn't for everyone's palette, and even Ami said I was the only American that ordered it, but if you at all like chicken liver, these were the golden wrapped candy of chicken livers. :P food great, atmosphere great, service beyond great. Lovelovelove!!!

Sadly this has joined the ranks of just another Japanese steak house with crappy meat, poor serving sizes, weak fried rice and of course no Asian cooks. Don't bother ordering expensive so called tenderloin. .. is just sirloin. The sushi menu is the best part though. Better than the one other choice in southern md , Asahi.

Probably one of the best habachi grille I have been to. My filet mignon and shrimps were cook to perfection, so much flavors. The teriyaki sauce added in the ingredients was amazing. The fried rice was very well done, not as salty as most places I have been too, and the chef added yum yum sauce to the fried rice which made it even flavorful. The sushi was on point. I had 2 spicy tuna and a volcano rolls, and both were tasty. I love their volcano roll. I get it every time I come to Okada. I love this place, can't wait to come back.

This place is definitely on my blacklist. Have been here a couple of times and the hibachi isn't bad, but it is WAY overpriced. Last night my wife and I met some friends there for diner. Everyone in the group ordered sushi except for me. I wanted an entrée, big mistake. The sushi came out within 20 minutes of ordering the food, but for the entrée, not so much. It was a little awkward sitting there eating nothing while everyone else had their food. It was actually kind of funny, after a while the waitress came around and asked if she could bring by a box for the group and all of our uneaten sushi. I just said that we actually were waiting to start eating because I was still waiting for my food. Well after 45 minutes of waiting with no food while my friends were just sitting there not eating their sushi, I just canceled the order and decided to go across the street to Cheeseburger in Paradise to eat. There is nothing more awkward than people at your table sitting there not eating their food because they are waiting for you to get yours. I was told repeatedly that there was a backup in the kitchen. Ok, if the kitchen is backed up, wait to put in the sushi order. Either way, I could understand that if the place was packed, but there were 3 empty tables and at least 7 empty seats at the bar. Unless there was a massive phone order placed, the place wasn't busy at all. All I ordered was the hibachi chicken. It's just fried rice, grilled vegetables, and grilled chicken. It takes all of what 5 minutes max to prepare that order. So the dining experience absolutely sucked, then it comes bill time. Since only one person in my group ate anything, I was very surprised when we got the bill and it was $50. The waitress didn't split the bill right. Ok second try, our bill was still $30 for a crappy salad, miso soup, a glass of wine, and a sushi roll. At this point I'm hangry and just don't care. After all we went through, you would expect someone from management to come over and say absolutely anything, nope, didn't happen. With as many good restaurants as we have in Southern Maryland, it's easy to strike this off the list. The sushi is better at Sake in Lexington Park and is a fraction of the cost and there are numerous places to get better hibachi. While the waitress was polite, the service was terrible. Perhaps I just found the kryptonite of the restaurant in ordering an entrée and sushi from the same table, either way we will never be back.

Went last night with family. Place was surprisingly empty, but didn't stop us going anyway as we wanted to try hibachi on our visit to the States. Food great, mine went cold to be honest as waiting for the others to be cooked, but went ahead anyway. Food was amazing to be honest, and the cook really good too. Only thing which was horrible was he started cleaning the hot table while we were eating, and the fumes and everything was making food rather unpleasant. It is just very weird and quite put us down to come back (including our family leaving around here).

It's hibachi! It's sushi! It's a clean restaurant with friendly staff and great food! There is nothing else I could ask for! The sushi is very good, and they've made some house recipes that are a lot of fun to try. The hibachi is always entertaining, one of the better shows I've experienced. Go here!

I have been back several times and have enjoyed the sushi and hibachi. The weekday hibachi lunch is a great deal! I have never had a bad experience here, and I like it much more than the other Japanese in the area. If you are doing a hibachi dinner, the filet is definitely worth it. The Brookhaven roll with mango is delicious, if you enjoy sushi.

This place would be cool to entertain coworkers lt something, but not so much a normal dinner due to the prices. I went here alone and sat at the bar, which is fine because then you can watch the chefs do their show for free sorta. I ordered a simple spicy tuna roll and Philadelphia roll. The spicy tuna was more tamed than I hope. Restaurants will mash the tuna to add air into it so they could serve less of it. The Philadelphia was also just fine. Wish I could tell you more, but that's all I ordered. I probably wouldn't go again unless I were invited and we were doing the live cooking thing.

Love this place. There is creativity in the food, sushi, and sashimi. The Steeler roll is absolutely amazing. I tried their special, Jalapeño roll today and was amazed! Wow. My favorite restaurant in southern Maryland. They are certainly on the pricey side as noted by others. But, you will not be dissatisfied by the food. Try the Steeler roll and you will be amazed.

Great food, but very pricey. I spent $48 on a spicy tuna roll, 5 pieces of tuna sashimi, and a chicken & noodle dish. No drinks, just water.

Standard hibachi grill. Food is great and the service is friendly.

I'm not sure why asahi is rated higher. As someone who is Japanese okada is much better.

Great family Resturant , wonderful people and atmosphere . The food is awesome and you have to ask for the yum yum sauce I have eaten there since I moved to md in 2010! We will miss this place once we move in 2015 !!!

We came here because this nice couple recommended Okada to us for sushi. My boyfriend and I have only had the sushi at Okada and let me say...if you need a sushi fix around Pax River...this is the place to go. Sure, they're a little slow, but for sushi...your options are limited around that god forsaken area. Their fish is fresh and their nigiri and rolls are good so they deserve 4 stars. The restaurant interior is actually quite pretty and we were surprised that their sushi could actually probably hang with average big city sushi places. Their rolls are like any other Korean owned sushi joints. I didn't die after eating here so we'll probably be returning during my visits to Pax River.

Standard Japanese steakhouse meal. Fun chef, good family atmosphere. Wish I would've tried the sushi because I've heard it's good. I got the steak and shrimp from the lunch menu--I didn't really care for the steak, but the shrimp was DELICIOUS. I wish they offered chicken and shrimp as a lunch option. Good soup & good salad came with the hibachi choices.

Nice place to go with groups as the tables are set up for 10 people to each stove. Got the shrimp and steak and it was delicious. We went for lunch on a Saturday and it was surprisingly empty which was nice so we were able to get in and out pretty quick (for a table of 11). I would go here again and I'm sure the place if different when it's crowded but it was nice coming here with nobody here.

It's a typical Japanese Steakhouse so of that's what you want, they deliver. I've never had a bad experience. The food is always good and sushi tastes fresh. I recommend the salmon habanero, definitely my favorite roll.

We've been going to Okada for a couple years now, but have backed away lately to go to Nagoya in Prince Frederick as it's closer. Didn't realize what we've been missing. Sushi was outstanding. Uni was some of the best I've ever eaten. Calamari, salmon & whelk were excellent as well. Try the habanero salmon. Nagoya is good, but they lay the sauces on too heavy and you can't taste the fish. Okada is more classic sushi. I think we'll return to Okada more often.

Wasn't too impressed with this place. First of all its kind of pricey for the quality of food you receive. The food was ok but nothing great. Their fried rice is an additional cost and isn't even worth replacing with just the plain white rice. The sushi was not fresh and lacked flavor. Waitress couldn't tell me which roll was which and that's kind of important considering I have a shellfish allergy. I probably will not go back.

I've been a returning costumer to this restaurant for years. And I have to say out of all the hibachi restaurants located near me, this one knocks it out of the park. Amazing service, friendly staff, clean, great environment and reasonable prices.

I was pretty shocked that Okada only had an average of three stars but then I realized that 1 and a half of the 3 ratings were about the hibachi. Ooooh yeah.....this is a japanese hibachi steakhouse! I nearly forgot because I never eat hibachi here, but rather opt for sushi. I have been to Okada quite a few times for sushi and I can't say that I have ever had sloppy presentation so I feel like David F. may have hit it on an off-day/night. I actually just ate there today and, not that it was a beautiful, breath-taking presentation of shrimp tempura topped in spicy tuna, but it looked pretty appetizing to me. As far as sushi goes, I haven't been to Sake's all-you-can-eat sushi lunch buffet, but I have been to every other sushi place in town and this is the best. Asahi ranks a close second. Whether it is the best sushi you will ever have in your life.......eh.......we're talking about wildewood shopping plaza in California, Maryland (Not the hawaiian coast). But as far as lexington park area sushi goes, its the place. And when it comes to atmosphere, I must say that Okada very closely imitates every single Japanese Hibachi Steakhouse I have EVER been to. Servers, chefs, and all. Maybe one day I will revisit the Hibachi side of the house and re-reveiw. Until then, 4 stars.

Tried it once, won't ever go back. There's really nothing special when it comes to the hibachi. I was highly disappointed when I looked at the menu and saw nothing but hibachi options. Usually these types of restaurants have some traditional Japanese entrees, but there was none. So I settled for the chicken and shrimp, never have I ever paid so much for hibachi. It was okay, I've had better and paid less. Although the food wasn't that great, the restaurant was decorated nicely. I would much rather go down the road to Asahi.

As usual, the menu is overpriced. But we wanted something different and special to celebrate my birthday. We stopped in on a slow Sunday evening. My husband and I sat at the bar, and I ordered about 30 dollars worth of sushi, and he ordered the 17 dollar chicken and rice... (SEVENTEEN DOLLARS FOR CHICKEN AND RICE?!?!?!?!)..... Well, my sushi came after about 15 minutes, and I slowly picked at it hoping to still have some food to eat when my husbands dish arrived.... well, about ten minutes or so later the young lady came to check on me and tell us that his meal would be another 15 or so minutes! Um.... way to drop the ball kitchen/cook staff! Totally unacceptable.... I was finished with my food before my husbands arrived, and we kindly asked her to remove his item from the bill, that we would pay for our sushi and go elsewhere. It was disappointing that there was no recovery effort made, and I can assure you, we will not return.

My friend treated me to the teppanyaki dinner here--we did not have any sushi. I ordered filet mignon and shrimp along with sauteed mushrooms. The soup was surprisingly good here--sort of an onion miso. Our chef scared the shit out of me; he dropped his spatulas about five times, misfired with the shrimp enough to inspire me to say "that's enough" and nearly caught our faces on fire with the opening trademarked "wow move." I couldn't really enjoy myself because this guy made me so jumpy. The filet and shrimp were good, but not mind-blowing. I am not a rice fan so I left my fried rice pretty much untouched. The service was a bit MIA, though polite.

Great place, I am a fan of the sushi bar but the hibachi is not bad either. If there are no kids at your table they keep the "fun" to a minimal and just get down to cooking so you can eat and enjoy!

One of the better hibachi places I have been to. Great service, entertaining, and quality food at a decent price.

The sushi here is pretty good considering it's located in the small town of California, MD. The reason for 3 stars is when I visited it for the third time I sat at the hibachi table. The service was extremely slow. It took over 30 min to receive any food. In retrospect, if you sit on the sushi side, you will receive your food rather quickly. Overall the food is very good and has lots of variety. I frequently visit Okada to get my "sushi fix."

Raw fish... I'm there... Of course Okada serve sushi, so I was there. Been there few times and its bit pricey for the quality. Sushi quality is ok. Habachi grill is mediocre, but the chefs are very nice and entertaining. Although, if you go back to the habachi, you will see the same show over n over n over... I don't particularly feel that their sushi is anything special nor its anything bad. When you have a craving for raw dead fish, this the place to go in small town. crap, i miss atl... when this damn snow is over, i'm getting da hell out of here!

Ingredients ..... Ok............. Sushi was fresh but poorly made.......... Portions were decent............... Tapanaki presentation was pretty good. Overall, there are better experiences to be had in Lexington Park.

Okada has an extensive sushi menu and sushi is definitely a must here. The sushi is the best in the area, and the sushi chef is excellent. Be sure to try the chef's specials, which change regularly. A favorite sushi selection is the Philadelphia Roll, which is a salmon, cream cheese, and avocado roll. Okada also offers hibachi meals, which are also good. The grill tables are large, so unless you have a group of eight or ten people, you will be sitting with another group. Prices are more reasonable at lunch, and if you do eat there for dinner, the bill can add up quickly! This restaurant is great for special occasions!

We really enjoy this restaurant. The staff is very friendly and the chefs we have had prepared delicious food and put on a great show. We arrived late one night with some out-of-town guests, and the staff was very gracious in letting us stay after closing time and never made us feel like we were a bother.
