I have overlooked Chesapeake Grille for awhile now. The name didn't seem very descriptive and it is tucked in a little corner of a strip mall, so it really wasn't on my list of must-gos. When my hubby suggested that we try it out the other night, I didn't really understand why it was on his mind (apparently one of his clients mentioned it to him before), but decided it was worth trying out. Why not? Well - I have to say I was pleased that we went. It's honestly just a glorified cafe. You order your food at the counter and either wait if you are getting it to go or have a seat and wait for them to bring it out to you. I ordered the shrimp skewers and a garden salad and my hubby ordered wings and a salmon salad. Both of us were quite pleased with our meals and found them to be fresh and cooked well. My husband did have to send his salad back since we requested no feta cheese and no onions and there really wasn't a way to get all the feta off, but the waiter didn't mind at all, bring it back in a jiffy. Can't knock them there, since they didn't complain and handled it quickly. All in all, my only wish is that I had more shrimp with the skewers, but I think that is probably more of a reflection of me being starving when I walked in than them not giving enough. Dinner was cheap and good and definitely a good move. Wouldn't mind going back for lunch as well. All in all, a nice new spot to add to my casual dining dinner options.

My parents live in Bowie, so we've been to the Chesapeake Grill more than six times when visiting them. This is my parents favorite place to eat in Bowie, and my kids ask to go there by name. We don't have places like this in Northern Virginia, and I really wonder why? As a PG County boy, this is the kind of great food I grew up eating, with very reasonable prices. The broiled crab cakes and fried rockfish are what I usually go for. When I've been here for lunch I go for the deli sandwiches - roast beef with horseradish sauce is great. I prefer the Maryland crab soup over the Cream of Crab, but I have a choice every day - with lots of crab. The food is completely worth the stop. A shout out for the generously cut lemons, and plenty of them, for the fresh and clean tasting sweet tea and iced tea The service is great. My parents are elderly and they get a bit of extra help. The staff is friendly and briskly competent. The tables are cleared and cleaned, floors clean, windows clean and bathrooms are clean and stocked. The kitchen is visibile from the order window and it's shiny. This last visit, I was too busy chatting to notice that their Rick's hot sauce had no pourer cap - splash across my fries like a catsup drench. They replaced my fries with fresh ones and I was a happy, if embarrassed, camper. They acted like it was no problem. Keep up the great work.

I visited on 9/14. I've been walking past this place for a year and decided to venture in. The atmosphere is family oriented. It is a great place to take the kids and get a decent quick meal. I believe, for the most part, all things are made fresh. It took a while for my order. Not terribly long. It was worth the wait. The staff is friendly and were eager to please. I ordered Old Bay wings, a garden salad, and sweet potato fries. I love. The only thing I'd suggest is getting a little fancy with sweet potato fries. Simply adding sea salt makes a difference. Sometimes I turn mine into chilli fries or add a kick to mine with extra spicy spices. I also make them a little sweet with cinnamon and a little brown sugar and a homemade sauce. As you can see I'm big on sweet potato fries. My Old Bay wings were great...just a little salty though. I blame Old Bay seasoning. It's just salty. I have purchased them from the Amish Market in Upper Marlboro before and these are waaaay better. My salad was fresh as well. I love fresh veggies. The menu was extensive. There is a little something for everyone. I want to go for breakfast one day. Then I'm sure I swill update this and give it a 5 star. ***update*** I returned for dinner. I purchased the cheesie chicken. It is a well flavored chicken breast, fresh steamed vegetables, and a side salad. The chicken was moisT and the food tastes fresh. OMG! The chicken was seasoned so well, the bbq sauce was not necessary.

Hot sandwich + Old bay fries = Perfect Lunch! You can't go wrong when you order ANY of their hot sandwiches. They are always so delicious and affordable. Don't neglect their cold subs too, they are worth trying. *Warning* sandwiches are served with chips. If you want them with fries it will cost you $1.30 more. Everyone is so nice and friendly here. Always good to see smiling faces. Oh btw, and you don't tip here. Weird feeling leaving a restaurant that doesn't accept your tip.

The food is very good. It's pretty expensive but good value. The portions are generous. The ingredients are fresh. I didn't really like that they are in a shopping mall. There is no ambiance and it lacks that authentic family restaurant feel. You place your order deli style and they serve at the table. For the price I hoped for full service but overall I enjoyed my meal and I would recommend.

They just catered my daughter's wedding. The food was FABULOUS and the cost extremely reasonable. Filets, grilled salmon, sauteed vegetables, tortellini Alfredo plus excellent passed appetizers. All of our guests loved the food. Let Chesapeake cater your next event and you won't be disappointed!

Fabulous food! We made our first carryout order today, and the food was great! I was a little shocked of the cost for two adults and two children, but the taste was excellent. The service was equally great by phone order and pick up services.

This is my third time getting food from here and today I was disappointed in the taste, quality and quantity. I paid $12.99 for soggy tasteless fish and fries. If you go here, do not order the beer battered fish and fries because you will be wasting you're money.

This is a great place to grab a quick but tasty bite. Be warned if you want your burger cooked you better order it WELL DONE. Because Well done is Pink inside and Anything else is Totally Rare! Salads are always delicious.

If you were not looking you would of probably missed this place....the good was great and it like the laid back atmosphere. I like the ability to order then sit down that way you know your food is on the way. 5 of us are there and all ordered something different and all of the food was good.

We stopped by when my human shark son wanted a sandwich to sustain himself between lunch and dinner and got a tuna fish and an egg salad sandwich untoasted. Both were stuffed with tasty fillings on the fresh side--as I discovered when he let me sample them both. I also had coffee (fair, but not super) and the human shark guzzled milk as usual. This is definitely worth the extra dollar or two that you might pay at a national chain.I believe they are a local, that is, Maryland only, establishment, with maybe one or two other locations The cashier/wait person was very perky and cheerful and helpful and this is definitely a place we will come back to sometime as we go to this strip mall all the time and there's always parking.

I had never been in to Chesapeake Grille before, but this summer they ran my pools snack bar, and did an OUTSTANDING job. Chesepeake Grille features an amazing chicken melt and delicious mac+cheese. Mr. Torsani's staff is very pleasant and enthusiastic. I would highly recommend anybody trying cheseapeake grill for lunch or dinner any time.

I must say that the Chesapeake Grille & Deli is a great place to eat. I took my clients for lunch. Try the Cream of Crab soup and the shrimp skewers. Their sweet tea is outstanding. They have subs, soups, salads, seafood, pies and more.

Chicken salad had no mayo & seasoning used in it left a horrid after taste. Is 'chicken salad' without mayonnaise chicken salad? Rueben was good. Potato salad was average. Maybe it's taste, but it had carrots in it. To me, carrots don't belong in Potato salad. It tasted, probably, bought.

I had high hopes after reading the yelp reviews. I left disappointed. Best part of the meal was the cream of crab soup.I also ordered the grilled salmon which was overcooked and dry. The fried pickles were thick and too salty.

This was a diamond in the rough! My aunt was in DC visiting and I asked my boyfriend to find us a nice place for lunch between DC and Hanover, MD. He gave me three options and I chose Chesapeake Grille and Deli because anytime I hear "deli" I think fresh soup and sammies! We were skeptical because we arrived around 11:15am, the restaurant was completely empty and it didn't even smell like food! But, in light if saving time and keeping on schedule, we decided to stay and make the best of it.....well, that didn't take much! We ordered wings, soups, crabcakes and a chicken gyro and every morsel of each of our meals was delicious. It wasn't until the end of our visit that we were informed that they had just opened at 11:00am, and by the time we were preparing to leave, ALL of the tables were full and the line was halfway through the restaurant. Additionally, because of the kind of serve/seat yourself environment (the staff delivers the food to your table, but they are not wait staff), we expected that the tips would be split. Much to our surprise, the restaurant donates all tips to a different charitable organization every so often. This month happened to be a Multiple Sclerosis organization and we were so very pleased to learn that the owner is selfless enough to donate ALL of the tip proceeds. I venture to say the prices are a bit high, but the quality and service were worth every dollar.

I really enjoyed this place. If your not a fan of old bay, well....You might not like this place as much as I do, but when Chesapeake is in the name, you gotta know there will be Old Bay!!!lol.... I had the Tuna Pasta, it was really good, tuna had great flavor and the pasta was done al dente, the way it should be, veggies had great flavor!!! Jalepeno poppers with ranch/old bay sauce was awesome. Other people at the table had the burgers which looked great!!! I will definately be going back to sample more of the delicious looking food!

Tried it for lunch...it didn't disappoint! From the genuinely sincere welcome when we walked through the door, to the fresh baked peanut butter cookie, everything was great! My friend ordered the Homemade Chili, and it was loaded with beef & seasoned well, served with tortilla chips - nice change from crackers or bread. She also had a Grilled Cheese & fries from the Fingerlings menu, and it was tasty. I ordered a traditional Reuben and it was fantastic! Not too much dressing, perfectly sliced corned beef, and just right on the toasted bread! Nailed it! Now back to that cookie - it was so delicious I couldn't help but eat it first! Soft, chewy, awesome! Definitely worth a try if you're in the Bowie area! Polite and friendly staff, clean, and great food! I'll be back!

I usually order the garden salad with salmon and the balsamic vinaigrette dressing. The salad has always been very fresh and I really like the way the salmon is cooked. I have also had the meatloaf which was tasty and the turkey wrap, which was very good. I don't love the crab cakes...too spicy for me. The services is always friendly and good. My boyfriend wanted a fried clam hoagie and they made one special for him. Yum!

The restaurant was recommended to me and let me say it was a great place to eat. The meatloaf was to die for.

Been here twice so far...Friday and Saturday. Yes went back the next day. One- it's so exciting to have new places to eat in the area and the food was good. Both times I started with the cream of crab soup. My 3 year old and I punished it both times. She fought me for the last few spoonfulls on Saturday. My husband had the steak and cheese , loved it. came with potato wedges. 3 years old had the cheese burger, and it was given 2 tumbs up by her. My only complant with the kids burger was that the bun had too much butter on it. For me that would be like heaven buttered and grilled bun, but not so appealing for my 3 year old..She enjoyed while I cringed. I had the clam strips and I have longed for some good clam strips as most of my family is from new england. Well, you wont find them here, but it satisfied my craving. They were as good as you can get in these parts. Saturday I had the fried rock fish. not a fan, 3 year old had chicken nugets and fries. she liked. We devoured our soup first of course. I saw some of the deli sandwiches...looked very good. I will try one of thoes next. Staff were very freindly both times.

When we want high quality & tasty meals in a hurry, this is where I go. Great sandwiches, crab cakes-- worth trying the rockfish and the lamb gyro.

First let me warn you the oysters are FROZEN even though the menu says fresh. $9 dollars for 6 frozen oysters? no way I am ordering them. I saw an order go by and they do not look anything like the photo on the web menu. Also the rockfish is FROZEN. So let me ask, how can it be "battered in their special blend" (menu quote) when it comes in frozen? We live in Maryland so the oysters and rockfish should be fresh. I had the regular cheese steak, the roll was excellent (probably an Amoroso roll), and the steak nicely seasoned. The sandwich came out nice and hot. The sandwich was a 6 inch for $8. There was one tomato slice cut in half and a sprinkle of lettuce. The sandwich tasted good but was not a good value for the price. My companion had the Rachel. When I see a sign with deli on it I expect sandwiches to be piled high with meat...at least the same thickness of meat as bread. The pastrami on the sandwich was barely equal to one slice of bread. Again an $8 sandwich not worth the price. I don't like restaurants that are not honest on their menu. I won't be going back to this restaurant.

Great vibes! Casual. Very friendly staff. MD and cream crab soups loaded. Burger and Hoagie nothing special. ChickPotPie "crust" was dough balls. $80 for 4 apps/soups & 4 sand/potpies - little pricey for imagination level. Tips go to charity.

Hidden gem of Bowie! An absolute must try. Everything on the menu that I have had is great. And I have had a lot. The cheeseburgers are some of the best I have had. The crab cake sandwich is amazing!

Staff is always super nice and service is great. Food is overall good. Some misses Ive had (like the burger), but for the most part all the food has been fresh and tasty. Fish and Chips, Chicken Pasta, Chicken pot pie is different but tasty. Hidden Gem: The Lemonade. Will keep coming back as its a fresh, casual lunch spot under $15.

I've been here a few times now - and must say that it is a great little place. Everyone here is incredibly friendly. Each dish I've tried has been very good - cheesesteak, reuben, Chesapeake chicken. Loved the old-bay wings too. This place will definitely be on my list of regular places to visit. The other great thing - as I understand it - any/all tips go to charity. Please visit this place (and their other location in Dunkirk). Tip well and often...

Delicious food. I've gotten take out on numerous occasions. Out of those times only once did I not like the food because all of the food was under cooked. I got a well done burger and it came out as medium. Yuck!

If I could give this place a higher star value I would. The Sandwich I had was absolutely amazing, which i think was a chicken ranch melt? and the staff is Awesome. The owner Mark seriously loves his customers and his job - you can tell by the respect he gets from his staff as well as the loyal clients he has in the dining room. I definitely plan to come back in bring the BF.

This place is Awesome! It is truly a hidden gem. I always make it a point to come here when Im in the area. The food is fresh and has a ton of flavor! Ive tried several items on the menu and theyve all been delicious. It is also inexpensive. So if you are looking for quality food without breaking the bank, go to Chesapeake Grill.

This place is seriously a diamond in the rough. There aren't a whole lot of ads anywhere about this place and barely anything indicating it's even in the Hilltop Shopping Center. I think the only reason I came across it is because I live right up the street. Everything is delicious and I am such a snob when it comes to cream of crab soup, crab imperial, crab cakes, etc and this place is awesome. Definitely a Maryland feel here and I've never been dissapointed. Portion sizes are big, so you get your money's worth and they have a large selection of everything. Apps, Salads, Sides, Desserts and of course main dishes! I wish I could eat here more often but I would end up weighing 500 lbs LOL. The staff is also super friendly.

  • Becky C.

This place is great. They had a summer salad with strawberries and blue cheese, OMG, I was addicted and had to have it every day. I had to go cold turkey because they discontinued it. You can't believe how friendly the staff is. Their broccoli is amazing. Get it as a side dish to your sandwich instead of the chips. The crab soup is great. Salmon, yum. The Reuben...hold on, I'm getting hungry! Everything we've tried has been great. Okay, there's one little thing, the fries don't travel well. Awww, what a pity, you'll have to eat them BEFORE you leave, they are awesome! The place isn't cheap, but I'm willing to pay for consistently good food at a locally owned business. I eat in DC every day, compare this with your "pay by the pound" lunch, now you can appreciate the value of a GOOD meal.

They are a GREAT local place. Very good food and service is top notch. They are now serving BREAKFAST on the weekend!! I feel they put out the best breakfast in town. Not as many items as the big chain, but the food is much better! Been there many times for dinner - never been disappointed. Give them a try, you might become a regular!

My husband and I visited for the first time last week, and were surprised at what a brisk business they were doing, both with office workers and just folks like us, out and about. The cream of crab soup was great, almost too rich to finish. The waitress told us the Maryland crab soup was equally good, and that they measure the amount of crab into the bowl before adding the other ingredients to be sure you're getting a full serving of crab. The only thing that's keeping me from 5 stars is the prices. Two bowls of soup, two beers, and a shared serving of Bay fries set us back almost $24, before tip. Otherwise, I would highly recommend, and I do plan on going back.

Love, love, love the food, especially the Chesapeake Chicken, which is low-cal but doesn't taste like diet food. The veggies were steamed to perfection, too. We went with another couple and shared two appetizers, and not a bite was left of anyone's meal. One thing that gave us all pause was the cost of the wine. My husband's and my meal w/ appetizer came to $30, but our bill was $47 - even adding the increase in alcohol tax, it still seemed high. Turns out that wine (local Virginia wine, nothing special) is around $7.50/glass - for this setting, that was expensive! Otherwise, we'll go back (but will forgo the wine next time). The servers were fabulous, too. We left a tip, but didn't realize until later that it went to charity.

My husband and I went Saturday, April 7, 2012. We liked the atmosphere right away because we go to the Caribbean a lot and the decor has that airy, beach spot feel. I ordered the cream of crab soup based on the reviews I read. I also got the chicken melt. My hubby ordered the crabcake. The crab soup was good, not amazing. I had amazing at Edgewater Restaurant, so anything else is okay. It had good flavor. But no jumbo lump chunks of meat, which really separates the men's crab soup from the boys. The sandwich was just okay. My husband liked the crabcake alright, but we habitually go to G&M for their jumbo lump crabcake, so the one at Chesapeake Grill was not exactly the best. The flavor was alright. We paid $30, plus a tip. We would go again if we just don't no where else to eat because it's close and the atmosphere really is very cute. But I would love the food quality to improve. For the price, the taste was just not there.

As per my last review, I did return to try more signature dishes and have come to the conclusion that it's just "okay." So far, there are only two points in favor of a return trip: the spinach salad and the fries. Otherwise I vacillated between rating it 2 or 3 stars. I landed on 3 because of the spinach salad, the great employees, cleanliness, coloring pages for kids, and free WiFi. MENU ITEMS FROM BEST TO WORST: SPINACH SALAD: 5 stars! Hana P. wasn't exaggerating. This salad is that good. So good. Normally $7.99 but you can get it as a side salad for about $3. I'd come back for this. SIRLOIN CHEESE STEAK SAMMY: 3.5 stars. One of their signature sandwiches. My husband said he'd come back for it, but he also likes hamburger helper (just so you're aware of his sense of taste). I tried it and it was okay. Lots of meat, melted provolone, grilled onions. Seasoning was okay. It was...fine. CHESSIE POTATOES: 3 stars. The spicy ranch and cheese sauce tastes great with the Old Bay seasoning. Order this to share with a friend, because it's greasy. A 4 star taste gets knocked down to 3 stars for the greasiness. GRILLED CHEESE with FRIES: 3 stars. The grilled cheese is the traditional Kraft cheese with white bread. It was toasted perfectly (though the toasty bread was a little too difficult for my 18 month old to bite). The fries are amazing, and plentiful. They are crispy and hot and I just kept popping them in my mouth. SIRLOIN STEAK with FRIES: 2.5 stars. Ordered it medium rare and they got that right, which was good. Asked for it seasoned with just salt and pepper, which they got right. Somehow, though, it was kind of tough-- even though it was medium rare. Tasted fine. Maybe it was just a bad cut of meat? It's on the "fingerling" menu, so it's a fairly small portion of meat. Fries are, again, amazing and plentiful. FRIED CLAMS: 2 stars. Just meh. I really like clams, but this was a little bit of a chore to finish. Also greasy. CREAM OF CRAB SOUP: 2 star. This was indeed loaded with crab meat. Unfortunately it was also loaded with salt. Might have been a fluke batch, since others seem to have really enjoyed their soup. But I kid you not, I could hardly finish this tiny bowl (my body was telling me that I was going to OD on sodium) or taste the crab around the salt. Really disappointing.

Holy moly vegetarians REJOICE!! This was prolly one of the best portabello mushroom sandwiches EVER! Bread was delicious, seasoning on mushrooms and sun dried tomatoes was the best! The Cream of Crab soup is so delicious! Unlike other places, the cream of crab soup had plenty of crab meat in it. :-) It is the best that I have ever tasted. I thoroughly enjoyed the Old Bay Wings. Would definitely recommend those two items.

I literally walk pass this place every time I go to my gym and finally decided to meet a friend here. Even though they have seating available, it really is more of a take-out location. Televisions are on the walls and they have tables in the middle with booths surrounding them. Regardless of if you're dinning in or taking out, you have to place your order at the front register and either wait for the food to come to the counter or they will bring it to your table. No signs were up letting me know any of this, but luckily a server was cleaning up and I was able to ask her the correct protocol. I ordered the cream of crab soup and the barbecue chicken sandwich with fries. It was a bit of confusion with both my order and my friend's because our soups came out well after we started eating our meal. I must say that the cream of crab soup was literally the best I've had in a while. For $7.99 it should be. It had plenty of crab and a wonderful flavor. Although the chicken sandwich was rather large, the bottom bun was soggy. Nothing I hate more than to be served soggy bread. The fries were average, nothing to write home about. It was an okay dinning experience. The staff was friendly and pretty helpful, but other than the soup, nothing really stood out to me about this restaurant. I can see me going back to get more of that delicious cream of crab soup and maybe even trying another sandwich, but I would definitely do a take-out order.

My favorite local place. We always bring visitors here for a quick, good meal. Great atmosphere, great food, and great people. The chicken caprese salad is my favorite. Top it off with a peanut butter cup cookie and you're in heaven!

Once upon a time, there lived this young woman in her late 20's who absolutely loved food, but was trying to eat healthier. She went to a meeting where food was being ordered from a "sandwich shop" and requested a salad with grilled chicken on the side. When she arrived to the meeting, she was greeted with the MOST FREAKING DELICIOUS SALAD EVER IN LIFE. Seriously. I'm no health nut, but the spinach salad here is like having angels from up above pooting on your taste buds. Definitely the best salad I've ever had in my life. So good, that I came here five consecutive times without looking at other menu options and ordered the spinach salad. The spinach salad comes with spinach leaves (obviously), REAL pieces of bacon (not the disgusting bacon bits), cranberries, onions, red peppers, hard-boiled eggs, mushrooms, and bacon dressing. The bacon dressing is not overwhelming either! You can order different meats on the side as toppings for the salad and I have had the grilled chicken and crab cake. I'm not sure what seasonings they use for this grilled chicken, but it is the most moist and flavorful piece of grilled chicken that I've ever had the pleasure of devouring. The last couple times I've been here, I ordered crab cakes, crab dip, steamed shrimp, and old bay chicken & shrimp pasta for my family and everyone has loved everything. This place is so unassuming and I never realized it was over here. So glad to have found this gem!

Great food, prices and overall value! They have a large selection of breakfast items and sandwiches. The breakfast menu is reasonably priced. Omelettes are made to order without the extra up charge for each ingredient like most chain restaurants. Here you order and pay at the counter, get self serve drinks, and they bring your meal to your table. Our food came out quickly and was very good. We will return and would recommend! This a small casual place with simple but nice atmosphere. We noticed the sign on the door says they open at 11 on Saturdays and Sundays, but they were open when we came at 9 on a Saturday.

I'm surprised I didn't try this place earlier. I guess it is kind of hidden in the corner of Hilltop Plaza. This place has a walk up counter. The menu is above the counter, but make sure you look at the specials behind the counter. Lots of choices and I'm sure you'll find something you'll like. It's mostly a sandwich place and every selection I've made has been good. They do have salads and other choices; perhaps if their sandwiches weren't so good, I would try them. The people here are extremely friendly. They also bring the food to you and clean the tables quickly. Tables are both inside and outside the shop. Criticism is hard to find here. Some minor issues were: the hamburger was cooked too long (I asked for medium and it was well done). Parking (not the restaurant fault) is crowded but available, since Hilltop Plaza parking lot is designed poorly and has limited spaces. Shop will be easy to miss. This is my favorite sandwich place in Bowie.

Chicken wings were great and the Steak and cheese is awesome. I haven't tried anything else. The venue is well kept and I love the friendly staff.

Good food we frequent it just not the first pick in restaurants. It's great for a sandwhich or salad lunch but when I want something I can't make at home this isn't what I think as my go to however I come here a lot because it is good. Love the decor it is very cute and the food comes out promptly never had a complaint from eating from there.

I've come here for breakfast and lunch and both are good. The staff is very friendly and they know the menu's well. You have to try their French toast! As for lunch/dinner their burgers are always consistently tasteful and large. You can choose between 2 different OZ options and I've done both. The fries come salted with old bay and I love it. Prices I think are pretty moderate. I consider them fair because of the portion sizes and taste of the food. No matter what meal you're eating, you should try this place out!

Every time I stop by the staff is really nice and fast. I'll start with breakfast...it's yummy, fresh and super tasty. You can have a full breakfast for under $10. You also don't have the long waits compared to the other chain breakfast locations in the area. For lunch, I normally try to choose a weekly special to try something new. I've never been disappointed. I've had burgers, pasta, cold cuts, grilled sandwiches. For dinner I typically will get a cream of crab soup with a salad or old bay wings. Every salad is delicious. The cream of crab soup is the best in the area. Every bite has lump crab meat and the soup itself will make you full. Great place to eat in and for carryout.

This is my second visit to Chesapeake Grille & Deli. The first visit I got the sirloin cheesesteak which was just ok. Today I got the shrimp salad sandwich, and it is gross. I took one bite and threw it away. The shrimp taste like the frozen kind in a bag that were thawed out. Then they were coated in old bay and tossed on a kaiser roll. There's no mayo base or anything. Hopefully I don't get sick tonight from this one bite, I've definitely lost my appetite!

A friend recommended this place and yesterday was our second time eating here. Last time I went, I got a chicken meal with mixed veggies and I was not impressed. There was no flavor at all. My daughter was not impressed with her caesar salad or her meal, which I can't even remember what it was. My husband got the old bay wings and he was ok with them, I found them to be salty the first time. The down side is the seating and the ordering area. The first time we went we weren't sure what we had to do to get food. The booth seats are beat up and bordering on uncomfortable and the outside seating doesn't look comfortable at all. I'm not a fan of the ordering area up front. It also doubles as a deli. There isn't a lot of seating, so you can be in line ordering for here and then you realize you have nowhere to sit. They have only one soda machine which it's always a long line for. The gem in this place is the crab dip frenchy. At a price of $11.99, you get every bit of your money's worth. It can be eaten alone or with the bread. This time our bread that came with the dip was a little softer and had melted cheese on it, very yummy. The cheese was weird when it cooled though. The first time our bread was really hard and I couldn't eat it. We also got the old bay wings and old bay fries. The fries were delicious. Nice and soft, but not mushy (just how i like them) and non greasy. I am on the fence with the wings. The flavor was good this time, but the consistency of the chicken is odd. I don't know whether the chicken is undercooked or if it's because they are previously frozen. Since I wasn't sure, I didn't eat two wings. I think from now on when we go here, I will only get the crab dip and fries. The place is kind of pricey too,but you don't have to tip. The service is fine. You place your order and someone brings the food to your table. Nice and simple. All in all, because of the crab dip, I will return.

Love coming here for a quick bite, it's always on my list of placed to eat. the food is high quality and it's very convenient for me... there have been a few times where I have had my order mixed up but the staff is always courteous about it. They are great.

Sooooo, this spot gets 4/10 for attempting to make a cheesesteak. Two mini steak sandwiches (mind you, it wasn't even a 12inch!), 2 orders of fries & 2 drinks was the cost of a tank of gas (almost $30!!). And the food was absolutely not worth it. No flavor; reminded me of steakums on random bread and it just sucked. I wouldn't recommend cheating yourself out of an authentic cheesesteak. If you want the real deal, take your hind parts to Philly. I'm sure other food is decent here, but I'm definitely disappointed on what we ordered.

New to the area and have come here a handful of times so far, yet to be disappointed. Nice to have a local gourmet deli and sandwich shop that doesn't feel stuffy and has a decently priced and menu with good variety.

This place came up when I searched for nearby restaurant. My assumption was that this place would be a "Please wait to be seated" type restaurant based on how high it was rated. Then I got skeptical when I drove into the plaza and it reminded me of chain fast food place. But then I walked in and smelled the goodness of seasoned food and a decent crowd on a late rainy night. The first test was passed with flying colors as my wife (who is a foody) reviewed the menu and gave me a huge smile and said "she likes it". We ordered about $60 of food between myself, wife, MIL, and toddler. Everybody was pleased with their meals including myself. We had fried pickles and old bay wings for appetizers which were great. The customer services was fantastic. We had to make a few request and they met them. We had to swap out a Ceasar salad for steamed broccoli for the toddler. They mistakenly brought us fried green beans originally instead of fried pickles which they corrected. And they even gave us honey at our request. No extra charge. I wish I worked or lived near this place, because I'd be a regular.

I have been here a number of times. As some others have mentioned, the place is a Panera-esque eatery. You order at the front register, you sit wherever you want. When the food is ready they drop the food off at your booth. They have fresh sweet and unsweetened ice tea which is great along with a soda station so you can control your refills. Some people have complained that they don't get waited on, or that there is no notice that this is a cafeteria kind of place. I think that is a little bit ridiculous. I am grateful that I can go refill my drink on my own, and I can get in and out as fast as I want. The place has quality free wireless internet, it is clean, and has very reasonable prices. Food is pretty good, but if I am being honest, nothing to write home about. This place definitely serves a purpose and overall I am a fan and will continue to regularly visit this place.

I have been to Chesapeake Grill twice in the past and the food was delicious! However, this last time I was not very impressed. Now, I did start with the cream of crab soup and I have to say it was very good! I ordered the prime rib sandwich. The sandwich came out on a hoagie roll with sliced steak and melted provolone. That's it! The steak was overlooked and the sandwich was very dry. I asked for aus jus which they didn't have. I added a bit of mayo, but that didn't take care if the dryness. Also, the French fries weren't as good as they've been in the past. That being said, I will go back to try them out again. Hopefully I won't be disappointed again!

Great crab cakes, chicken and shrimp pasta, and my son says it's the best burger he's ever had. They use a lot of Old Bay seasoning (which can be a good thing). Also very good homemade desserts. Well worth a visit.

Sandwich was delicious. We had the hot crab sandwich and the tuna sandwich. Customer service was friendly and excellent. I don't understand why anyone would give this place any less than four stars. I want to thank the other yelpers for helping me discover this place. I will definitely be returning here regularly. This is without a doubt the best sandwich place in Bowie.

I'm gonna stick with my initial review of this being a great place to eat. I'm thinking some things are better than others, though. I ordered the Bay-sized burger tonight (12 oz which was way too much) and ordered it "medium". It came out almost rare. The rest of the experience was great and my wife got the salmon wrap and sweet potato fries which she loved. I'm still a fan. I know now, though, that this ain't no burger joint.

I'm torn between my need to give everything on YELP 5 stars or 1 star --- and the plain truth of the matter that the 5th star, in this case, is lost forever to the canyons of my ego and the 1 bad experience out of 50 I've had. This place is awesome. The service is friendly, the prices are mid-range, but for the quality of food you get, it's just fine. The desserts are serious, yo! Very good and lots of variety. If only I hadn't had that 1 bad experience. The location is decent. Close to work, so we go there all the time. My friend Patrick gets the Chesapeake Chicken and raves about it, but he's a Redskins fan so what does he know? They recently replaced the 1980's era Coke Machine with the hip new one you typically find at Noodles & Co (who suck but have a cool coke machine). So I'm happy with that too. Lots of flavors for your cokes. Lots of neighbors telling jokes. It's friendly. If only I hadn't had that 1 bad experience..... 1/14/14. The Setting: Bowie. The sky was angry that day. A tempest brewing in the clouds and a shadow fell across our group of 3 as we entered. Did I mention that the Irie Cafe just opened next door to the Chesapeake Grill? Looks pretty good. Damn if they didn't spend ALL THE MONEY on those tables though. Gotta believe that's gonna lead to some increased prices on their Jerk. Where was I? Jerk. Yes. So, here's the deetes. I always get the Italian Burger. Sometimes it's a special. Sometimes it not. One time I asked if they'd simply put in on the menu full time, and that one time I was told "absolutely". So - whenever I head out to the CG (as we call it).....you can bet your bottom dollar there's an Italian Burger coming in the near future. Patrick got the Chesapeake Chicken, which he raves about, but he hates Big Bang Theory -- so REALLY WHAT DOES HE KNOW? Let the record show that on 1/14/14 I was told that the Italian Burger was a specialty item that is only available from time to time and that I needed to order something else. This had never happened before. Usually it goes like this: Me: I'lll have the Itallian Burger with no Old Bay on the Fries Them: I'll have to ask if they can make one, it's not on the board today. Me: Would you be so kind? Them: HEY! Can we do an Italian Burger? Some other Them: No problem. We'd have to slice a salami, but no problem. (10-12 minutes later) Brian is chowing on an Italian Burger. That's how it was meant to be. That's how it always is. on 1/14/14 -- i was told to find some sand and pound it. I settled. I had the Meatball Sub. It was ice cold. My assumption is that i misspoke and the person behind the counter heard "Meatball-Sub-flavored Jello" That's the only explanation i can find. I'm unhappy with this review. This 4 star review broke my string of ONLY 5 and 1 star reviews for which I hoped to one day be famous for. CG -- earn your 5th star back! Make me Italian Burger with ALL THE TRIMMINGS (but no Old Bay)......Help me Chesapeake Grille.....you're my only hope.

I went here based off the reviews that I had seen on yelp and on a rave review of a friend on Facebook! It isn't a far drive, so I ventured out! It is located on the corner of the block in the Hilltop Shopping Center in a location that used to be a Veterinary Hospital. They had seating outside that would be inviting if it wasn't 50 degrees outside. But for warmer months, it would be perfect. Inside it has a country feel with wooden tables, blue walls and a checkered floor. No biggie! I had called my order in. I don't eat meat, so that limits me with the menu! However, I was in the mood for soup! So I ordered the cream of crab soup. It was AHMAHZING!! Very good! Best I have had locally! Seasoned very well with generous lumps of crab meat. None of those lumps of flour in the soup either! I hate that! Not to mention, while I was waiting on my order, 3 people came in and ordered the same cream of crab soup!! So it is no secret that it is delicious! I will go back and perhaps have a tuna melt and partake in the desserts!! But for now, this is a little gem that I will covet!!

I've been planning on trying out this place a couple of times to support some new local food places (something that is quite hard to find in Bowie), so when I had a little time to kill while waiting on my mom to finish some errands I dropped by. The service was outstanding. Friendly people that were waiting to take my order and checked up on me thru my meal. I ordered the footlong chili dog (comes with kettle chips) and a sweet tea. The tea was great while the hot dog was slightly odd. I think it was the fact that the chili had chunks of beans and peppers, not my favorite style of chili. Not to mention there wasn't enough cheese for my taste. The hoagie roll was slightly too crunchy as well. I would be willing to give this place another try if I have time left over while on that side of town. It's really nice to see something different from your usual chain restaurants so hopefully they can stay around long enough for me to get another try at it.

Fantastic! I took the family for dinner on a Monday. The spinach bacon salad was great. Kids split the Mac and cheese and they were happy. Wife and mother-in-law split a pot pie, buffalo wrap, and garden salad. They liked them all. Great atmosphere for casual dinning. We'll be back for sure.

Excellent gem in a strip mall in Bowie. I have yet to have a disappointing dish from the menu. Excellent prices for the value. Much of the menu is soup, salads and sandwiches though there are several entree dishes - fish, their spin on a chicken pot pie and others. Breads and meats are definitely good quality. They do serve a fairly straightforward simple breakfast menu which is quite tasty and reasonable in price. Service has been fairly prompt all but once I've been in there - and they apologized profusely that one time.

I really wanted to like this place! I am a sucker for a great local grill and deli. I love sandwiches, wraps, melts, fries, soup - anything and everything at grills. I frequent Yelp often to find new establishments in the area I haven't gone to. This place had a good rating and I have always wanted to give it a try. My dad and I were in the area and I thought we'd pop in for lunch. We came in around 1pm, and it was pretty crowded inside. All but 1 table was filled. There were two groups of two in front of us waiting to order. We ordered a turkey melt sandwich, a crab cake sandwich, 1 cream of crab soup, a soda, and a water. The total came to $31 and some change. We got our drinks and sat at the table. And we sat. And sat. And sat. Boy, did we sit! At the 20 minute mark, we noticed the two couples who had ordered before us hadn't even gotten their food yet. A customer at the table next to us had her order come out wrong twice and was apologized to profusely by the food runner. Another table near us left and their plate of food (some kind of broccoli and noodle dish) was barely touched. At that point I thought, okay, did we make the right decision coming here? It took a little over 30 minutes for our food to come out. I feel like that's a little too long for a soup, a turkey sandwich, and a crab cake. But, we were hungry and were ready to dig in. To say we were disappointed with the food would be an understatement. Every single thing we ordered was loaded (and I mean loaded) with salt. The cream of crab soup had a good taste and had a ton of crab (which is a major plus), but was too salty. We left more than half of the soup in the bowl because we couldn't take the salt. At first, I thought my turkey melt was piled high with turkey, but I realized it was all piled up in the middle and had barely had anything towards the ends. My turkey melt tasted as if someone dumped an entire salt shaker on it. The tomatoes used on my sandwich were yellow and hard. I was also given the dirty heel end of the tomato. Who on earth wants to eat that? My dad's crab cake was very thin, small, and left much to be desired. He didn't eat the bun, lettuce, or the tomatoes (just the crab cake) and finished it in about 3-4 bites. All the saltiness leads me to believe one of two things: the food is frozen and is salted to the high heavens to cover up the fact it's frozen, or the chef isn't tasting what's going out. It's not an understatement when I say this was probably one of the saltiest meals I've ever had in my life. Pros: I do want to note that the staff was very friendly. We were greeted when we entered and when we left. The staff also made sure to bus and clean the tables as quickly as possible so people weren't waiting long to be seated. The tip jars at the registers have signs saying the tips are donated to charity, which I think is fabulous. I also noticed every table had a card talking about donating to the local baseball team. I think it's great when business do things like that to help out the local community, so that's a major plus for them in my book. Overall, it was a very disappointing lunch, and certainly was not worth what we paid. Am I completely writing this place off? Surprisingly, no. A ton of locals seem to love it, and they do have good ratings, so maybe we caught them on an off day. Perhaps they were having a bad chef day? I'm not sure. I can say that it will be a very long time before we would attempt to come here again.

I popped in for a solo lunch when I had business in Bowie this afternoon and was looking for a light lunch from a non-chain establishment. The first thing I thought when google maps brought me to the destination was "ugh strip mall", but don't let the location deceive you, this was a quick yet tasty meal in a nondescript location. You order at the counter and your food is brought out to you when it's ready. At the time of my visit, around 2:30 on a Wednesday, there were only two other diners in the place so my meal came out quickly. I had reviewed some of the comments on yelp and it seemed like the soup, either she crab bisque or Maryland crab, would be a good choice. Trying to be healthier, I went with a bowl of the Maryland crab soup. At $7.99 I feel that is rather steep given the portion size BUT there was a TON of crab meat in the soup, lots of carrots, corn, and green beans too. They had Old Bay on the table- nice touch. I added a generous amount to my soup and it greatly enhanced the already flavorful broth. I got a side salad with ranch (they have over 8 dressings that were rattled off to me though) and at $2.75, I was quite impressed with the portion size and the fact a field greens mix was used as opposed to ice berg lettuce. They have lots of beer and wine options too I noticed. They also had daily specials such as a BBQ pork sandwich and a Cuban sandwich. I don't believe I will be in Bowie again since this was a one time business meeting out of convenience for the client, however I do think those in the area should take advantage of the quaint atmosphere and the seemingly fresh seafood. I also noticed all tips go to charity which is a nice gesture on the part of the owner.

This was my first time here and I tried the Classic Gyro with the works & French fries with Old Bay Seasoning for take out. The gyro was extra large & very good. I would have preferred the lamb cut in strips rather than 3 large pieces. Just right amount of onions, tomatoes, tzatziki & a bit heavy on the feta. The fries were lightly seasoned with Old Bay so I added more at home. Overall very good value for this meal. Drinks are separate so expect to pay $12.00 total. If ever in the area again, I'd definitely come back & try another deli made sandwich.

As much as I want to give this place a good review I can't. I can say that the staff was friendly. The inside is small but clean. I ordered a crab cake with fries to go. The crab cake was raw and runny inside. It was not edible. This was my experience and I do not have much more to say about this place.
