I totally love La Chiquita Restaurant in Bladensburg. The food is great and the servers are very nice.

They are open early and serve breakfast! Yah! My Beau and I ordered what's called "The Ordinary Breakfast" and it was good. We didn't know what to expect in terms of food variety because we've never had spanish breakfast. But their menu made it rather simple. There is only one option that is Breakfast according to my American frame of mind. So that's what we had. Again, the food was good. I want to spend just a sentence or two sharing the climate.... Unalke the food, the climate was awkard. Not bad, but different. This restaurant is drastically different than the Pollo Chicken across the street. All eyes were consistently on us the entire time when in La Chiquita Food. Granted we were seemingly the only Americans in the place, being on stage was a turn-off. When I go out to eat breakfast I don't typically want to be that noticed, its not neccessary. Perhaps if I go back, or need to out of starvation I will place my order via phone and only pickup. Honestly, I will probadly choice to patron the Pollo spot across the street instead.

This Salvadoran-style restaurant is located in an unassuming strip mall near Bladensburg Waterfront Park. I visited it in the late afternoon on Sunday. The inside was more impressive -- it had been recently been redone, and I think it looked clean and nice. There were quite a few customers in spite of the non-standard time. For about $12 I ordered the carne asada, and a side of fried plantains ($2.50), along with a melon agua fresca (a drink made with canteloupe juice). The first plate they brought out of the carne asada didn't look right to me, it was in two pieces, and one of the pieces looked overcooked and had a hole in the middle of it. Without trying it, I sent it back. The second one came out in one piece. It was marinated -- probably skirt steak, although I'm not an expert in meat cuts, with a side of red beans and rice, and a side of uncooked vegetables that was not quite a salad, since there was no dressing. However, having seen similar things in other places, I think that is traditional. There were two delicious homemade thick corn tortillas served with it. In any case, if you're in the area, you should check it out. My Spanish is minimal, but one or two of the staff spoke at least some English.

Very disappointed! Every since they remodeled the place this restaurant has more of a bar ambiance (loud music, dark environment even during the day). Been getting mostly carry out since then because of this. Really miss the family atmosphere it had before. Food has been less fresh and it doesn't taste the same. Today I got mixed pupusas and it was worthless. Have had better pupusas from 7-Eleven. The curtido tasted like at least 2 days old and the salsa tasted like nothing... Water would have been better. The pupusas were thin (tortilla thickness) and barely any filling. Got 1 that looked ticker and we were fighting for it like the holy grail... Wrong!!! Hole bunch of masa. I think this may be the last time for me here. Now if you are not familiar with good Salvadorian food than this may be good enough for you, but if you know what is good dont waste your time and money

I got all 3 taco flavors beef, beef tongue, and chicken. Ordered a side of plantains and their Salvadoran chicken salad and horchata to drink. Everything was really good. My tummy is happy.

I went to this restaurant because Andrew Zimmern said we should and I am happy I did. The food was great. The papusa's tasted freshly made. The food was fresh in general. It was like homemade. Just great. No frozen tasting stuff. The service is nice also. The lady we had got a kick out of us trying to order in Spanish. But the food....Go get some.

Positive: We only had Tacos de Carne but it was delicious. Each taco was very tiny though. I asked for no onions in my tacos and they honoured the request which I was happy about. Negative: The set up was awkward. We were the only non-Latino people there and got stared at the entire time. Regardless I would still go back because it seems as if it's a clean and yummy place.

WORST Customer Service EVER !!! I don't know what is wrong with this crew but they need to get their act together quick fast & in a hurry !!! If you like being treated badly after spending your hard earned money, then this is the restaurant for you. I waited ALMOST an HOUR for a carry-out order !!! After waiting the first 30 minutes, right where they could see me, I finally asked when my order would be ready. That's when I was told they had given MY ORDER to another customer so I'd have to wait for them to prepare it all over again. REALLY ?! How much longer I asked. Oh, maybe 10-15 minutes. REALLY ?! You CAN'T BE SERIOUS !!! So I sat and watched every order that came up. Finally an order popped up in the window 15 minutes later that I suspected was mines but do you think they rushed to get it to me. NO !!! I sat and watched them ignore me (and the order) for another 5 MINUTES !!! It was like they didn't give a damn how I felt as they continued to treated me like a non-issue. Finally someone give me my order. Let me say this, sometimes it's not worth it to patronize the small guys cause they treat you poorly and make no effort to resolve the issue. They couldn't care less whether I sat for almost an HOUR !!! To add insult to injury, ANA and all the other waitresses talked about me in spanish and LAUGHED LAUGHED LAUGHED as I left !!! It is very obvious to me that I need to take my business elsewhere but 1st I need to warn people !! From the moment I placed my order it was clear ANA was NOT interested in my business even though she readily accepted my money. I'M DONE WITH THIS ESTABLISHMENT !!! Customers deserve to be appreciated and valued. ANA ANA ANA you messed with the wrong girl !!! PS The fried fish was not fully-cleaned either...it still had disgusting scales on it...YUCK !!!

The food is excellent, and the price is affordable. The servers are friendly. The owner kept the place clean and organize. If you are a big eater and enjoy food as I do, come to this place. They won't let you down. One thing I would like to see in their menu is the beer list.

AMAZING food!! Everything made here is delicious, I have never tried anything bad at this La Chiquita. The pan con pollo, ceviche, sopa, pescado frito, fajitas mixta, y las pupusas are so good. Their fajitas are the best fajitas I've ever had. I usually drop in here on a weekend with my bf & or family. It's a great place to have a bite of food. We always leave satisfied.
