Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Our Order: 19 custom lunch meals, Sun pickup, 6/7,11:30A. The staff at the Bethesda Chipotle (7600 Old G-town) were awesome--fabulous customer service, attentive, reachable, pleasant. The order was accurate; great labeling (important w/19 unique entrees); food--delicious (!), and carried to my car with a smile. My faves: guacamole, tofu sofritas, steak/ w/pintos). It's hard work, yet they make it look so easy. All kudos, Chipotle Staff! P.S.--To future "large order" customers: 1--connect ahead w/the mgrs to confirm everything and re-confirm; 2--accurately/legibly complete their easy-peasy order form).

Super clean Chipotle, very transparent in that you can swatch them grill up the food and savory flavors ooze from the dishes as well as permeate the air. The staff is friendly and efficient. I went early so there wasn't a line, however, they have a lot of space so I imagine they can handle many customers. I typically do the salads as I eschew the extra calories in the burritos (shudder!), but don't worry, the salads are super flavorful if you follow my recipe: - Salad base, no dressing (not needed and detracts from the fresh flavors) - Extra fajita veggies - Sofritas or Chicken - I usually opt for the marinated tofu, since they have the best, the chicken is obviously delicious too and great for the paleo heads - Guacamole - this is key, since you need those good fats, it'll help you absorb more nutrients and eschews the need for dressing - Fresh salsa - I like this better than the pre-made stuff, yes, it's mild, but very flavorful and they dice it every morning fresh The only reason I'm docking it a star is because the guacamole wasn't as bright green as I'd like and when I asked for sofritas the person taking my order asked if I meant chicken and I had to say, no tofu, so they should have their terminology down better.

There was no doubt this is the best Chipotle I've been too. Huge portion, great quality, tasty and also friendly employees. The drink counter was stocked, organized and clean. All tables were clean too...
(5)Carolyn C.
TIP: Do not come here Monday through Friday between 11:30am - 12:30pm, unless you want to stand outside the door. The high school students get out for lunch and seriously run right over to Chipotle!
(5)Ruth R.
Going there is stressful! My co-worker and I have had this issue numerous times before when calling in/faxing in/ordering online prior to coming in and the order not be ready. Today was my last straw! We put a 1:30 pick up time got there 10 mins late due to traffic and when we went up to pay for our orders they had not been printed/viewed nor started! We left there at 2pm because we were waiting around for our orders to be ready. They even charged me for guac and chips but didn't bother to put them in my bag. The cashier could only tell us that he didn't even know why they have fax or online option because there's some kind of cut off time? Worse excuse ever! That doesn't justify that this happened to us so many times before. Not only did they forget to prepare our order but the screwed up the orders as well. This is frustrating! If you have a large order do not bother to go there despite the high demand location they can't seem to ever get it right. Horrible experience!

I can never get enough of this chipotle. This chipotle never fails me with their delicious chicken bowl. It's really nice to have this place to go to anytime I want.
(4)Meryl K.
The service at this chipotle is pretty abysmal. Doesn't seem like they really train the staff at all. Today some girl tried to use a tortilla that was clearly ripped and then argued with me when I asked for one that was fresh and not torn. Then, the guy who wrapped it clearly had no clue what he was doing and it fell apart the second I unwrapped the foil. It's really too bad because this place is so convenient for me....
(2)Teri C.
While the staff was nice.....the food lacked flavor. The made my cheese quesadilla by filling it with cheese and popping it in the Microwave.....it stuck to the foil as I tried to unroll it. Chips and Salsa was good. Completely flavorless.
(3)Zarina A.
First time when I tried I did not like it. I had white rice, chicken, beans, corn, I think everything what was on the line. My fiance really likes to eat there, so I went there with him again and tried without beans. It was delicious. So, now I am regularly go to eat at Chipotle. Thank you, Chipotle, to being with us and always providing fast and friendly service
(5)Paul L.
Delicious as always...consistent fast mexican food that never disappoints. Bethesda location was a courteous and fast
(5)MoevsMakenzie T.
Friendly staff! Good food! Great location!
(4)Shawn H.
Consistent and fast. Great staff, well-managed. Down side: The local high school kids often render it impossible to eat outside in peace. Don't you brats have class? (Disclaimer: I've been accused of being the youngest geezer alive.)
(4)Daren N.
Food's pretty good, but they're waaaay too stingy with the meat to keep me coming back. Just went for lunch and the girl was putting like half a spoon of meat on top. When I asked for more, she said there's a charge for "extra" meat. I didn't want extra, I just wanted a reasonable portion. They recenlty raised their prices, and this bowl of rice, beans, meat, corn and salsa that used to cost $6.34 w/tax, is now $6.75. The meal I got with the amount of meat I got is not worth $6.75 to me. The only thing that kept me from walking out with the bowl still sitting there is the fact that I had a card for a free bowl or burritto. Got one left, and after I use that - not going back. They just opened a Boloco a couple of blocks away, the food is a notch above as far as quality goes, prices are a little bit cheaper. One more coupon to go, and Chipotle will have seen the last of me. I'll walk to Boloco and get a better deal. Cya!

ok so i feel a lot of people hate on Chipotle cause it not 'authentic'. obviously its not authentic, it doesn't matter, its amazing your getting a pound and a half delicious burrito for 6 dollars. what more can you ask for. the chicken and the pork carnitas in my opinion are the higher quality meats and the pork really packs flavor and goes well with the pinto beans. the steak has the best marinade, slightly spice, but unfortunately is often chewy. the guac is better that any expensive Mexican restaurants (i think its the red onion) either way its amaz grub
(4)Cy K.
Its Chipotle. Its fresh fast and delicious. I can't believe they were ever associated with McDonalds.
(4)Vanessa W.
Nice place! Spicy steak burrito bowl is an addiction.
(4)Gers A.
I really love the fact that this is right outside the metro when I come home from work and am too tired to make stuff because I'm too lazy or forgot to take something out of the freezer to defrost. It's cheap, "organic" yet McDonald's owned (so wierd because if you ever read Fast Food Nation, McDonalds restaurant is a place where you beware the meat). I've noticed that they're making the steak spicier and I'm not sure if that;'s to appeal to the demographics (there's a large hispanic day workers) or because the country's taste for more spiced up food. In either case, the steak or chicken soft tacos are my favorite. There's just too much in a burrito to eat. The only drawback is that it is so close to BCC high school that it's their hangout after school and before 7 pm. Wayyy too teeny bopper of stuck-up kids who...well that's another rant.
(4)Michael L.
I'll preface this by saying that Chipotle is my all-time favorite fast food place. It's quite simply my favorite meal ever. The pros about this Chipotle are the location and the fact that there's never a line there. However, a couple of the staff members are not up to Chipotle par. I go into this Chipotle about 3-4 times per week and get a double meat burrito every time, yet they continue to skimp on the meat scoops and fill my bowl with things like beans or salsa. I ask them to put full scoops on there, and they sometimes can be quite rude about it. Nevertheless, this is only a couple of the people there. The rest are very nice and courteous. Another bonus is that this particular Chipotle allows you to get a free drink with a Student ID - which makes my 9 year old ID worthwhile!

This is not a true review but I would rate Chipotle a 4 for its hormone free chicken and meat and commitment to sustainability. I also like the food for a quick inexpensive qood quality meal, but I really wanted to set one matter straight I have seen repeatedly on yelp. Is Chipotle owned by McDonald's? Short Answer: No, Chipotle is not owned by McDonald's. Long Answer: Chipotle became a susidiary of McDonald's in 1999 when McDonald's acquired the controlling stake of the company. At one point, McDonald's owned shares accounting for approximately 87% of the voting power of Chipotle's common stock. In Chipotle's earlier stages, McDonald's helped Chipotle's operations by sharing its own distribution networks. Currently, Mcdonald's no longer has anything to do with Chipotle Mexican Grill. They have divested completely from Chipotle in 2006. Source: Joe Stupp, General Manager, Chipotle.com

For all the rave reviews of Chipotle, I cannot say that the food here is good. Yes, it will fill your stomach and most people can't tell the difference, but it's not anywhere close to Mexican. The burritos and tacos here do not have enough meat in them. Instead they are filled with rice and salsa to make you full. The "steaming" of the tortilla does not keep any of its contents warm. All this said, I support the organic meats and hand cut potato chips. I think its a good chain but nothing more than that.
(3)Andrew N.
In the next of my, "Kids, bah-humbug!" reviews, be warned that this Chipotle can be overwhelmed by BCC students at lunchtime. One time a younger coworker of mine was berated by them for his business dress because the BCC kids thought he was a classmate trying to be ironic.
(4)Ruth C.
Not so happy with this Chipotle, both their brown and white rices clump, and the pico de gallo is pretty heavy on onions. Other than that my steak burrito bowl was dandy with an occasional touch of gristle when it's light on marination. Guacamole is consistently fresh so far. I don't mind that they use white corn in their salsa, just surprised by it after seeing other seeing so many other Chipotles use yellow corn. No, I'm not going to argue nutritional value-- it's Chipotle... you either embrace the silver bullet or you don't.
(3)Eric B.
Yeah, parking stinks here, especially with Bethesda's annoying ticket jockeys walking around harassing perfectly illegally parked citizens... but that's a story for another day. Other than that, it's a pretty standard, well-oiled Polt. Ingredients consistent, service consistent. I will note, I have never been served the traditional rice/salt clump that invariably turns up in a burrito here and there at most locations. Full disclosure: I love some Polt!
(4)Alicia B.
The food in Chipotle is healthy, tasty, and the portions are generous.
(4)Grace G.
Update: Still not impressed with this location. I finally made it in, but that was because I went straight after work from the metro. I waited probably 5 minutes for someone to come to the counter. Okay, I realize that probably sounds snobby and not a lot of time, but at Chipotle? That's a long time. They pride themselves on fast service. This was NOT fast. However, the food is as good as always.
(3)David B.
Waited about 20 minutes at lunchtime, but our burritos were great. To be honest, I like California Tortilla a bit better but Chipotle is rock solid and tastes good.
(4)Passion R.
Soooooooooooooo I will reiterate what some other reviewers have mentioned that the biggest problem with this Chipotle is NO PARKING. However, my boyfriend works nearby and oftentimes I park at a parking garage for his co-workers up the street and then we walk down here together. I think most of the other patrons walk here as well--because you sort of have to. It seems that this Chipotle is primarily here to service the lunch crowd from the surrounding area businesses. It is not the best Saturday afternoon Chipotle unless you just so happened to be walking nearby. And it certainly does not work if you intend to run in, order you're food, and drive it home. That being said, the crowd also can get a bit hectic at peak lunch hours and the place itself is packed with people trying to sit down and eat lunch inside (again because of the parking problem) especially between 12pm and 2pm on a weekday. Beware of the seating issue if you wanted to come with a large group of friends from work! Perhaps, take your lunch a little later then. Outside of that, I've never experienced too bad of a line. It goes quickly and efficiently. Usually we have more trouble finding a place to sit after getting our food. Besides both those little problems I mentioned above, I like this Chipotle location a lot. I eat Chipotle very often and have never had any major service or food issues at this one in particular. They manage to keep the tables clean despite the crowd. They always have employees on the floor as well as behind the counter. And the food here is great quality and value for the money. Good job guys!
(4)Lissa B.
Mexican food is my favorite and Chipotle does it right. The only reason I wouldn't go to Chipotle when I'm craving Mexican food is if I've got time for Rio Grande and/or want the full experience with Rio Grande's Swirl drink. Anyway, I've always been fond of the Bethesda location as they give a free soda with a student ID and I always thought they gave much more toppings than the Georgetown location. The steak soft tacos with tomato, cheese, lettuce, guacamole, and lime is simply perfection.
(5)John F.
Normally I wouldn't bother writing a review about Chipotle, but I had such a great service experience that it warranted a review. I had a large order that I placed online that apparently didn't go through. When I got there, I was informed of this, but the staff prioritized the order and got it ready for me in a matter of minutes so I could get back to the office for a lunch meeting! Thanks!
(5)Carley M.
LOVE THEM! They rarely ever get it wrong, the service is great, and the food is worth the long line.
(5)Yoshi P.
Food is good like always, but customer service wasn't that great :(
(4)Anthony C.
This location always does a great job-- and the lunch crowd can be overwhelming. It's seating seems limited in comparison to to other locations. I really like Chipoltle better than all the other chain burrito options. It is the most authentic in terms of mimicking the California burrito stand. I am a fan of the bowl-- the salad is the same but the lettuce is not shredded. You can ask for the salad dressing and you have the whole salad without having to deal with giant leaves of foliage. You can park in the county garage underneath the building and its free on the weekend and for the first half hour during the week. There is street parking out front and on Woodmont.
(4)Indya R.
Never ever have a problem here. Fast service. Good food. Surprisingly strong margaritas! They have beer too. Corona, Miller Lite and a few others. Such a guilty pleasure!
(5)Andrew L.
Another favorite. Constantly busy, but the line moves quickly. Very fresh ingredients - the steak is amazing. Also good-sized portions. Their tacos are my favorite. I also always get chips with red hot salsa.
(5)Chad P.
This place is awesome and I've never had a problem with it in the 20 something times I've been here so far. I always get a burrito bowl and all the ingredients taste fresh and I get just enough food and a great price.
(5)John C.
Best chipotle in maryland hands down its crazy fast during the lunch rush and the staff is super friendly I would rather travel to this location rather then the one in friendship heights and that one is closer to where I live they need more chipotles like this one!!!
(5)Marie Madeleine T.
My bowl: white rice no beans stack tomato and lettuce. Once or twice a week
(4)Stephanie W.
Parking here is impossible and that is why I removed a star. Otherwise the food is wonderful and very consistent, as is the speedy service. Chipotle does a really good job with maintaining high standards for food and service, not to mention they are probably the most Eco-friendly mega food chain. I could eat here every day.
(4)Johnnie S.
I was so impressed with their new tofu sofritas. Even if I weren't a vegetarian, I'd order the tofu. The tacos were well made and everything tasted fresh. The guacamole was great as well. I will definitely be going to this location on a regular basis. The way they're starting to cater more to vegetarian diets is awesome.
(5)Nicole R.
The service here sucks. They need to get it together because the last few times I've been here, the guacamole looks shady.. the staff seem unorganized & slow. What's going on??! I'm hoping over time they fall under better management & get their act together because I love their veggie bowls!
(3)Estefania M.
Saw a cockroach in the bathroom! Grossed out. Plus, parking is difficult. Much prefer the Chipotle near WJ or in Chevy Chase.
(1)James F.
It's a Chipotle. It's good, it's healthy(ish) and it's responsibly sourced. The staff is efficient and at this location actually competent at rolling the enormous burritos without losing half of the stuffing. They DRAIN the beans before applying them to the burrito. They don't skimp on anything. I wish it was open 24/7. One negative note, and this isn't really the restaurant's fault, from about 2:30-5pm every weekday expect to wade through a crowd of surly teenagers gathered on the benches by the door.
(4)Mahsa K.
By my office, I am soo lucky. By far the quickest, most efficient service line I have ever experienced at any chipotle. AND THEY DO NOT SKIMP :)
(5)Wesley Y.
I eat Chipotle a lot, always get the same order bowl with brown rice, extra green peppers/onions, chicken, mild, medium, corn, cheese, more corn, lettuce. I bought another $30 gift card so this time I did my usual order except with extra brown rice, chicken, extra chicken, steak, and guac. If you buy a $30 gift card by december 31, you get 1 free chipotle and that coupon expires on Jan 31. I used my coupon immediately so I didn't have to pay for anyhting except the giftcard. I have so many chipotle gift cards just sitting everywhere. I think I might have enough to last me the rest of the year by now. Always get quick service, unfortunately during peak lunch and dinner hours theres always a line. This Chipotle is located right next to Bethesda metro station!
(4)Will S.
Came to this location a few times. Everything was fine until I asked for very light hot sauce and the man making my burrito dumped a whole ladle full in. Awful. I almost didn't want to buy it. But whatever what can you do with employees that don't care
(1)Jess C.
My BF and I smelled the delicious seasoned steak from the air vents of this Chipotle while we were waiting for the Tripper Bus to NYC that conveniently stops right outside of this location. It was overpowering, and we had to go in! My favorite is the steak burrito bowl with pinto beans, mild salsa, sour cream, cheese, corn, lettuce, and if I'm going all out--guacomole! Also, don't forget to add some Smoked Tabasco Sauce. I know can't eat my Chipotle without it! One order is more than enough for me, and perfect for sharing with the BF for a light snack. There's also plenty of outdoor seating, and it does seem to attract a lot of the local HS students, especially during Friday nights.
(4)Nancy S.
Standard Chipotle. Long lines turn into fast lines, so no real waiting which is always nice. My food is still hot when I get my to my office. I'm happy.
(3)Henry M.
If you want variety, e.g. shrimp, or tamales, ceviche, or anything en mole, look elsewhere. If you want an adult beverage, this is not the place, but what they do, they do well! I had a carnitas fajitas-style burrito: huge and tasting of the carnitas (pork) that I chose, with maybe a little too much rice. GF had chicken corn tacos: spicy, crunchy, and chickeny! I've avoided Chipotle's because of it's McD fast-food association, but for the burritos, taco's, and salads that they serve, it's better than Baja Fresh, way better than the Rockville branch of Mi Rauncho. Two very vigorous thumbs... way up!
(4)Aileen F.
Came in at 9:30pm before closing, but the guys behind the counter couldn't be more friendly. I had a chicken salad bowl which was fresh and delicious as always. This location is a lot bigger, close to parking (which is free Sat & Sun) and right off the Bestheda Metro location. Clean interior, friendly staff, yummy food!
(5)Victoria B.
This Chipotle is better than the one closest to where I live. The meat seems fresher and hotter. I get the burrito bowl every time in the exact same way for 4 years now. I won't ever vary, yet I haven't grown tired of it! I work nearby and could pay less for a meal, but I'm willing to pay more for the comfort food that is my burrito bowl. Howabout that?
(5)Josh H.
Never very busy at dinner time. Very large dining area. Nice employees and give very generous portions. Very clean.
(4)
