Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Was in town for an event and my parents and I were hungry and a lady told us it was very good and to check it out so we did. I give them 4 stars because of the hostess. She didn't say hi and seemed unfriendly. We politely asked for a booth and she took us to a table, so I asked her again nicely for a booth and she did a big sigh like she was mad I asked her for that (when I had asked her for it in the beginning). She was not in appropriate work attire, her skirt was way too short. Sat down and our server was friendly and recommended a few things. I ordered the grilled cheese, mom got the chicken sandwich thing and my dad got the goat cheese and eggplant sandwich. Our food came out in good timing and my parents said there's was very good. Mine was very good as well! Part of my moms chicken was under cooked so she didn't like that. I noticed the manager standing behind the bar texting on his phone for awhile which I don't think is good when you have customers that can clearly see you, go in the back and do that! Not professional. Our server was very friendly but I was out of water for awhile and needed some, but she never noticed until I had to ask her. The place was super clean, looked very nice! I like the food and service but they need to work on the hostess, she was un-pleasant, not friendly, the sarcastic sigh didn't help at all and her attire needs to be more professional. (She looked like she was going to a bar at night). They are very reasonably priced! I hope to return and do recommend!

Amazing food!!!!! I live in new York area and we have great Italian restaurants where I live, so wasn't expecting much. Great choice the food was amazing my daughter ordered the kids pizza so fresh. We are going back again before our vacation ends! The people were also so nice! A must go to if you are in Berlin!

Outstanding!! This new restaurant is fabulous. Seven diners in our group for lunch and all seven of us loved our meals. The menu is creative, the service is very good and we enjoyed our experience immensely. Everything is fresh made. A must do if you are in town.

I just ate here this past week. It was fantastic. Really good Italian food. There were really no draws for anyone to go back to Berlin, MD after you've been to the Atlantic Hotel (overpriced) and the Globe (overpriced and the food is not worth it). Now that Si'Culi opened up, I would head back to Berlin in a heartbeat. They need to work on the ambiance a bit. The place is very bright at night but overall everything was great. The waiter we had was very attentive and knowledgeable despite only working there a short time. I think that over time, Si'Culi will continue to evlove into a great local restuarant for those who need a break from Bethany or Rehoboth.

Where do I start...pizza was soggy and dough wasnt cooked all the way. Calamari wasnt fried long enough, it was not even golden brown and it was soggy. The guy in front of us sent his scallop dish back twice for it being fishy and not cooked all the way. Will not eat there again!

We recently took our three young boys here while camping. We went on a Friday evening with no reservations. They were very helpful and friendly. My husband and I loved their lobster pizza. I had the sangria ( needed it with 3 boys;) and we shared the meatball app. The meatballs were yummy but much smaller than expected. The boys didn't like the breadsticks because of the poppy seeds or their pizzas because of the chunks of tomatoes. So maybe my little boys aren't ready for good Italian food. The bathroom was very clean and roomy. My only gripes would be the fruit cup was a mix in syrup straight from a plastic cup:/ and the service was a bit slow all be it very friendly.

My husband and I tried Si' culi after many of his coworkers suggested it. I was very impressed with service and the food was amazing! I had their mussels as an appetizer and they were the best I've had in a while. They were covered in a spicy marinara sauce that was so tasty! I also ordered their homemade red sangria and it was very delicious. For my entree I did where you could pick your pasta and choice of sauce. I decided on the rigatoni's with their slow cooked hearty marinara sauce. OMG, it was so good! It is by far the best sauce I've ever had in a restaurant. My husband ordered the pizza with sausage. He said it was very good but just wished it had sauce on it. They used crushed tomatoes on it I believe. We're actually going here again for our anniversary in a couple weeks and I'm so excited I just can't wait! Have been recommending this place to everyone!

My wife and I were here twice in March. The first time we arrived early, about 4:30. We received a hostile greeting from the hostess sitting at the bar saying they weren't open until 5. Seems like they could have offered us a table and an opportunity for a glass of wine , but no, they obviously wanted us out. This was actually fortuitous since we discovered Tex Mex & Beyond as a result, a great find as it turned out. On our second visit (well past 5 pm) we were seated by an indifferent waitress who looked like she would really prefer to be texting on her phone. We should have taken this as a warning. I ordered linguine with white clam sauce and received the smallest serving I have ever seen in a commercial establishment of grossly over-cooked linguine with 5 clams in the shell, two of which were unopened by the cooking process. It was uninspired, tasteless, and appallingly poorly prepared and presented. My wife had a veal dish that she said was good but not outstanding. Even she noted the small serving size of my pasta. I'm frankly amazed at the high ratings for this restaurant, which should not be allowed to call themselves Italian. We won't be back here again.

AWESOME place to get great Italian food! The pizza is amazing and it's pretty reasonably priced for what you get. Been there twice and had two different servers. They know the menu like the back of their hand. It's quite noisy because of the echos, but who cares when you have an amazing brick oven pizza in front of you, right? Will be back!

This place is very very good!!! I love it we got the brick oven pizza! It was delicious and the service was great!! I would definitely come back!

We enjoyed our meal very much. The Sunday dinner was fantastic, the sauce and meatballs were great too and the pasta was obviously fresh and was made perfectly. My wife and her mother enjoyed the pasta primavera special. The service was excellent as well. I think they could try going a little fancier than t shirts for the staff to match the decor better. We will definitely be back.

Italian. Stopped in for lunch after a parade. Very casual but very nice. A brick oven pizza station in the corner. Having moved to DE from NJ, it's hard to find good pizza on Delmarva, so I should have tried it, but we had just had pizza the night before (Mio Padre in Millsboro is our go-to). I will definitely go back to try the pizza Being lunchtime, the menu was small. I had Caesar Salad with shrimp which was grilled very nicely. Daily drink special was a white apple sangria - very light & refreshing, delicious & perfect for the day. My son had buttered pasta with cheese off the children's menu which he loved. Wasn't too fond of the chocolate milk tho - said it tasted like water with chocolate syrup.

Fried calimari was delicious ...lobster pizza was great..kinda loud... oyster rockafeller was tastey.. Kim was a pleasure..

For lunch my wife had their version on an Italian hoagie and I had a cheese streak. The sandwiches were expertly made with excellent meats and trimmings. The bread was soft and flavorful with an excellent crust; perfect for hoagies. Service was fast and friendly. We would definitely like to go back to try the wood fired pizza.

My wife and I had dinner here last night for the first and last time. We informed our server this was our first time and we were from out of town looking forward to eating here. Siculis is located in Berlin which is the opposite way of ocean city MD so you miss all of the traffic and tourists. I ordered the veal tenderloin with crab topping and pasta and my wife ordered the Sunday dinner which was 2 meatballs and 2 sausages with pasta. Unfortunately, the Sunday dinner was turrible, which is one step below terrible. It was served Luke warm and on the chilly side. The meatballs were similar to the ones you can buy in the grocery store and were not home made. Our server never even returned to ask how our meals were going until I had finished my meal. The veal tenderloin was fair ,but the veal was thin like shoe leather and not tender by any means. We informed our server my wife's meal was served cold and said sorry about that, but that's as far as the sorry went. It was a fake sorry with no senserity. I wish we would have just dealt with the ocean city traffic and gone somewhere else.

Pizza was burned - we ordered the Quattro Formagio and standard cheese pizza. They used fresh mozzarella which was good. But the Quattro was missing ricotta and had no garlic - disappointing. The service was very slow and our waitress was nonexistent. Would not recommend

Stopped in for lunch on a rainy vacation day. It was my birthday and was joined by a group of family members. This was an excellent choice! The place is nicely decorated with one entire wall covered with a mural of the Italian countryside. The service was very attentive and friendly. The food was very good and inexpensive. Several in the group enjoyed the lunch special of excellent tasty lentil soup and an Italian side salad. I had the very tender juicy pulled pork sliders which came with a side of perfectly roasted potatoes. My brother in law ordered the Mufulata sandwich which was huge. Enough for two or three people. Highly recommend for anyone visiting this quaint little town.

After a few visits I must say I kinda love this place. I go for the apps and pizzas. As someone else mentioned, the house salad is excellent and just about anything that comes out of their brick oven is tasty. The meatballs and the razor thin eggplant parm are two items that stand out. Also they had a pizza with sausage and arugula when they first opened... they need to bring that back.

Went today for Sunday brunch (which due to a technical glitch is not advertised on their website). Our server was the manager and was personable and quite attentive. My husband and grandmother ordered breakfast items that were as to be expected except 3/4 of the way through their meals both complained their meals were lukewarm and would have benifited by a warmed plate. The manager, upon discovery, immediately apologized, offered replacements, and addressed kitchen staff to pre-warm plates. My (homeade) clam chowder was very good yet served with two overly salty crackers (they were good....just not with a seafood type of soup) my request for bread was at first denied (served at dinner only) but then I guess rethought as a piping hot, right-out-of-the brick oven slice appeared! Steak salad (ordered rare) was perfectly cooked and served over a bed of fresh mixed greens, grape tomatoes, cucumber, red onion salad. Dressed perfectly with a tasty, homemade vinegarette. I ordered a "virgin" version of the blood orange mimosa (one of the brunch drink specials) yet was told the drink comes premixed. :( yet again....within a few minutes, the manager (this guy is top notch at customer service!) appeared with a single bottle serving of blood orange peligrino. It was perfectly refreshing. Dessert was a shared slice of Village Cake. A remarkably dense, not overly sweet olive oil cake with lemon icing and served with fresh mixed berries. Both my soup and cake were comped. (I guess to make up for the coolish breakfast dishes). We will most definitely be back! Maybe next time for dinner maybe.

ok ok.. you read my review and flagged it... so i'll be brutally honest to you and your staff.. you need to install a training program or at least hire staff that have been in the biz.. don't wipe the sweat from your fore head and then handle my drinks and food are you kidding me..' train your staff to smile and not frown... instruct them not to complain about the customer in front of them... there really should be only bar keep making drinks behind the bar.. your food is great...it all ends there

Took a day trip to Berlin, and found downtown closed off for Blues and jazz festival. After wandering around for a bit we decided the street fare wasn't appealing, so we opted to try Si' Culi for lunch. What a pleasant surprise. Our server was pleasant and very helpful. We were a little apprehensive as the prices seemed too good to be true, but were pleasantly surprised at the exceedingly high quality of the meals. Would love to make a return trip to this restaurant to try the full menu, which I suspect will be as equally impressive. Fantastico!

We've been meaning to go to Si'Culi for a while now, and we're glad we visited. It's so great to have another good restaurant in the town of Berlin. They have done a wonderful job with the decor -- gorgeous wood-burning pizza oven, mural, floors, etc. General seating downstairs, and I believe the upstairs is meant for larger groups. Started off with breadsticks and olive oil. No seasoning for the olive oil, which was initially strange. But then I got to enjoying just the plain olive oil. I don't know if this is truly gourmet olive oil or not. The bottles on the table say so, but I'm afraid that I (along with most other people) can't say I am an olive oil expert. Side mesclun salad was tasty, with a housemade red wine vinaigrette. Entrees were delicious, and not what you'd call typical Americanized Italian fare. If you want chicken parm and veal marsala, I suggest you go to Carrabas in West OC. Si'Culi features authentic Italian food with pasta types you don't hear about very often. Hubby and I both chose entrees featuring homemade pastas (some entrees have homemade pasta, some do not). I had the "Sunday Dinner": wide flat noodles cooked until just-just al dente (that's how I like it!) and red sauce with shredded beef, meatballs, and sweet Italian sausage. I liked the sausage, sauce, and pasta, but the meatballs and shredded beef were only so-so. I could not eat it all, and happily took the rest home. Hubby had sausage and cavatelli with swiss chard, and pieces of pork all in a light flavorful brown sause. As in my dish, the cavatelli was cooked just until barely done. Desserts were very good. Hubby had two small cannoli -- one with chocolate filling and one with vanilla. I had a slice of "village cake", which I had to try because it was something different. The cake was lemon-flavored and very moist and dense. It was served with fresh strawberries. I loved it, although I could have done without the icing. Overall an excellent experience, except for the two criticisms put forth by George S. The restaurant is definitely way too noisy; all they need are some acoustic tile accents or fabric accents to help with this. We also saw a couple of flies, but fortunately, they were more interested in the window than in us and our food. This problem can also be easily remedied. Hopefully, the next time we're back, Si'culi's will be even better!

4 stars... I would give 5 as the food is delicious & the service is top notch; As of yet I have only eaten here 3 times, and I have still not had an entree. Twice I have had the mussles app, which is prepared well, a huge portion, with a tasty broth totally awesome. I ordered a pizza to go once, which was delicious, but beware size-wise this is a personal Pizza... Last time @ Si' Culi, we sat at the bar drinking and eating apps, everyhting was great, the meatballs compliment the eggplant really well, the fried cheese was smack dab delicious & it sounds trite, but the house salad might be the best on the peninsula, and at 4 bucks... come'n down, It is time to try Si' Culi

My boyfriend and I had dinner here a week ago and I was absolutely blown away with how amazing the food tasted. I was actually moved to tears and was able to speak to the dynamic husband and wife chefs and thank them. I came back down from Baltimore this week to go back...

Food was very good. Service was a bit slow but to be honest they were slammed. Garlic shrimp appetizer was fantastic. Would have given 5 stars if not for the almost unbearable noise level.

Went for dinner once and lunch twice this past week while on vacation. The food is good. The home made pasta and meatballs are really quite good. I give that 3-4 stars. I give the service 2 stars. They are all nice people but they haven't been properly trained. So with training this could be a great dining experience. I will go into some detail because I'm really hoping the owners read this and give their serving staff some training on the menu and basic serving etiquette. On our first visit for dinner our waitress asked if we knew what we wanted. That was basically the greeting. I had overheard another waitress talking about specials so I asked if they had any specials and she proceeded to tell us about them. At each of our visits, the servers didn't know much about what was on the menu. My husband asked what fusilli pasta was and the waitress said she thought it was like penne or something. I knew what it was and told my husband. He asked if the soups were 100% vegetarian and the waitress didn't know but said she could ask if we wanted. Of course we wanted or we wouldn't have asked. That's basic stuff -- and then she never did come back with an answer so we didn't order any soup. The waitress also never asked us if everything was ok or if we needed anything else after we got our entrees, even though she walked by our table about 6 times. We had to get the waitress's attention to ask for a dessert menu because she was over at the counter talking to coworkers. When I asked if she would tell us about the desserts she said oh, I'll get you a menu and then she pointed to the location of the desserts on the menu and said they are all good. We also saw the waitress eating in plain site of the diners and walked to our table with the check still chewing. The Sunday dinner was great. The house salad is very good too. But they put too much dressing on it so I knew to specify less dressing next time. The dressing was great but just was too much. The dessert was pretty good (can't remember what is was - some sort of cake with white icing). The wine was good and the prices are reasonable. It was loud but I've been in louder restaurants. Fresh flowers and candles on each table would be a nice touch. But PLEASE TRAIN THE SERVERS. They need to know the menu and serving 101. (have you ever seen the show "Restaurant Impossible"? Robert Irvine would have a kinipshin after experiencing the service. (he would like the food though). One more thing - I know you probably left pasta and red sauce and pasta and meatballs off the menu for a reason, but you do it so well, why don't you make it an option? You will probably attract and maintain a broader fan base. I want to go back in a month or so and give it another shot. I think there is a lot of potential.
