Went to this place for a quick bite while walking around Berlin, MD and I'm so glad we did! FYI, I love restaurants with locally sourced food! So my boyfriend and I split the BLT Caesar salad and the Shrimp Taquito. They definitely did not skimp on the bacon I'm sure there were 4 whole pieces on there and the tomatoes tasted so fresh! It was so refreshing since it was pretty hot out. The taquito was excellent as it had mango salsa with a little bit a kick and had big pieces of shrimp! Love this place and would definitely go back and recommend! PS - Burgers looked good but we wanted to save room for dessert

One of the best places I have ever eaten in my life!!!!! The sea bass was good I couldn't believe it!!!! Everyone is so friendly, it's no wonder they were just awarded America's Coolest City. If you are on your way or around Ocean City, Maryland, be good to yourself and go to Berlin, and eat at Blacksmith!!!!
(5)Barbara S.
Had a delicious lunch there. Service was great the food and atmosphere was delightful. Berlin is really coming alive.
(5)Greg G.
I'll have to echo the other reviews. The food was very tasty and well presented, however the service was spotty as were the drinks. Our party arrived early and being the only ones there the service was good. As the evening progressed and they became busy (not packed mind you) that's when the service took a nose dive! At one point in the evening was when one in our group had to walk over to one of the servers and ask that she stop texting and take our orders. ERR!!

Went there during the day when they weren't crowded. The bartender was very friendly and attentive. The menu is very eclectic, but keep in mind, the place is a bit hipster, so there are thirty-seven different variations of Mac and cheese. All delicious I might add. Had a great cocktail. Probably the best gin and tonic of my life. Do ask the bartender for special drinks. Went back the next day and had another fantastic meal. It is a little pricey, but I thought it was a good value for what we received. Would definitely go again when in Berlin.

Went there on a Saturday night in October. I had a grouper and risotto dish that was really yummy less the solo brussel sprout that I suspect was actually a painted golf ball. I liked the physical setting of the place too. However, the server (I'm tempted to call her out by name) was gloriously bad. So bad, you start looking for the hidden camera bad. She was friendly and happy but such a bad server I almost found it funny, then again I wasn't picking up the tab. Starting from the poor recitation of the specials (I had called earlier to find out the specials) to the (slightly over priced) dessert she made bad service performance art that over shadowed good food.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I knew knox of other places have been in this location and have failed I was a little reluctant to try it. But I took my daughter up for lunch and I ended up getting the curry chicken salad what was actually amazing.
(4)Tania S.
Terrific atmosphere and very, very good food. The curried chicken salad is plentiful and more fresh chicken than mayo makes it a lighter meal. They clearly put passion into their burgers as well as the condiments that accompany them. Richard was behind the bar and our server, and was as friendly as they come. Highly recommended!

First impression: nicely decorated, cute new bar restaurant. We sat inside but there is also cute outdoor seating. Then: weak drinks(we got the Berlin Moscow Mule and the orange vodka and lemonade), expensive food, waitress was a bit odd...didn't let us order the way we wanted. However, food ended up being pretty good(we got the Eastern Shore Banh Mi and the cheeseburger) but overpriced for Berlin. Think it will do well if some changes are made.
(3)T H.
Had an outstanding dinner here. Menu selection was great, and everything we ordered was perfectly prepared and interesting. Beer selection was pretty good, with several local breweries represented. We will definitely return soon.
(5)Debora S.
Fantastic! I recommend trying the Oyster BLT. Great service! I ordered a cocktail and found that it wasn't my thing. The server took it back, got me another drink and didn't charge me for either! Local food and beer selection. Tasteful decor and relaxing patio. Definitely highly recommend this restaurant!
(5)Daina B.
My boyfriend and I were nearby on vacation and loved this place. Absolutely excellent drinks and dinner spot. Good coffee too.
(5)Maggee R.
This place was GREAT in every way. Drinks, food, environment, decor, even the outside patio were all outstanding. We all loved eating and drinking there. Looks like it would be a fun place at night. Good music and customer service was excellent. My favorite place in Berlin.
(5)Kevin H.
Delicious food and a nice selection of local brews including several from the Burley Oak collection. We had four of the small plates, the empanada, the Thai meatballs, the crispy eggplant and a blue cheese salad. All were excellent. Would definitely come back here again.

Just stopped in Blacksmith for an early dinner tonight, before heading home to the Washington DC area, and we really enjoyed it! One of the first things that struck us was the neat atmosphere in what was otherwise a square room! The music, acoustics, lighting and decor created a really nice vibe, which was somehow engaging and relaxing and stimulating all at once! It also somehow managed to be informal, while also feeling quite classy. We had wonderful service from our waitress (name?) who took time to give us a few suggestions and was very attentive and friendly. And then, of course, the food was excellent! You definitely could taste the freshness and the care that went into each item which, for us, started with a hummus dish we were quite pleasantly surprised by. Having read a Yelp review about the restaurant and their mac & cheese choices, we inquired about it and ended up getting a side of it with some bacon. This is one thing where I would have wished it had been served differently! Three generous strips of bacon were tossed on top of the mac & cheese, though crumbled bacon would have made more sense to me, at least. LOL It was quite tasty, though! We also had a wonderful veggieburger, which tasted like the vegetables were falling out of it! Very mouthwatering. Lastly, we got the Cobb salad which had a nice variety of flavors, though the pickled avocado somehow did not seem right. Sadly, we just didn't eat it because we probably like fresh avocado so much! Perhaps we should have given it a chance. The lump crab meat more than made up for it, though. The beers we each tried from the local Burley brewery were very good as well. Overall, a really nice experience with good flavors, nice atmosphere, great service, and no hassles. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

I'll be honest - I really wanted to love this place. Locavore, craft beers, family friendly. Unfortunately the food was a disappointment. I went here for 2 meals, and neither was much good. On the first meal I ordered a Maryland Mule as a cocktail, Caesar salad as starter, and Curry coconut shrimp over rice. The mule was not tasty at all, and I am a lover of these drinks. The Caesar sald was overly dressed, and almost tasted like a mayonnaise based salad dressing. The shrimp dish, priced at $24 was the biggest disappointment. When I picked up the fork to eat, it was literally dripping with oil. My wife said " no way"- put a drop of that on your fingers and see if it is water based sauce, vs oil. It was indeed oil. I couldn't eat much of this dish, as I didn't want to get sick. Kids had grilled cheese, which was burned on the exterior. The steak fries were too thick, and undercooked. On my second visit (like I said, I really wanted to like this place), I ordered their crab cake sandwich. really beautiful and tasty bun. Unfortunately filled with a mushy, overly tartar sauced crab cake that was ruined by the accoutrements. Not sure if it would have been that much better if it were left alone on the plate. Regrettably, I won't be back.

Went here twice and regretted both times. The first time, I ordered a chicken salad sandwich that had so much cartilage, It was like chewing on chicken flavored rubber. The second time, I ordered tapas: shrimp and grits and the Thai-style meatballs. The shrimp and grits were alright HOWEVER, all but one shrimp was peeled. It seems pretty minor, but if you're going to charge $9.00 for it, why not take the initiative to peel the shells off of all of the shrimp so your paying customers don't get a crunchy surprise. The sauce on the meatballs were pretty tasty but the meatballs themselves tasted frozen. My husband got the $15 cobb salad, and the avocado slices weren't ripe along with the bland crab meat. It's like this place is scared to season or properly use the correct ingredients. I doubt there's a dedicated host/hostess as we waited for ten minutes for a table despite there being multiple open tables. All in all, I wouldn't really recommend this place to anybody, which sucks since my husband grew up in the area and has seen the neighborhood thrive.
(2)Lark M.
Wandered in here after leaving Assateaque Island. Nice surprise. Unique selection of drinks and food using alot of local ingredients. I had the empanada which had alot of flavor. If I lived around here I would definitely go back!
(5)Val V.
Delicious! Delicious! Delicious! Great variety of well presented dishes using local organic ingredients. I was there during the summer peach festival and they had lovely peach-infused cocktails to complement the menu. You won't be disappointed.
(5)Rachel K.
Friendly service, excellent food, excellent drinks!! The people that wrote bad reviews must be snobs because my family and I highly enjoyed our whole experience. Found the place on yelp for lunch and viewed the website. The fact that the website was excellent was the deciding factor to go here. The decor is cute and eclectic. My brother got an IPA that was to die for and my Mule was excellently mixed. The kickin donkey drink is awesome if you can stand the heat. We were all super happy with our meals. The breading on the chicken is amazing. My mom got the quiche of the day and loved it. Fries are fresh cut and delicious. We loved that everything is locally sourced down to the decor. Supporting the local economy put it in the 5 star for me. Will visit again.
(5)Matthew W.
This place was amazing, accept the service left a little to be desired. I found this place on yelp while traveling down to Virginia and OC MD with my girlfriend. We stopped in for dinner since it was about the halfway point. The exterior, interior and back deck are gorgeous. The food was amazing and makes me wish I lived close to here. The waitress, however, was not fully up to par. She was not efficient in waiting on all her tables at once. Instead of checking in with us while passing to go to her other tables or bringing us drinks while passing, she could only do one table at a time. It was not a big deal but did leave us lagging a little more than we had liked. We also had to track her down to get and pay our bill. Another BONUS is that they purchase all there product locally and have a large chalk board listing all of their suppliers. It was a near touch.
(4)Eric M.
Very nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Not too much on the menu but a good variety of unique stuff. Adequate selection of bottle/draft beers. The only bad thing was all appetizer options (although good) were barely big enough for one person let alone two people to share (the pork belly was 3 bites, the hummus app came with only 4 slices of pita, and a single empanada as an app).
(4)Marvin H.
Very cool little place. It was a rainy day in OC and we decided to go into the town of Berlin. After asking a few locals where a good place to eat is, all of them pointed us here. The food was great, fresh and worth coming back for.
(4)Marisa D.
One of my favorite places to go in Berlin. It has a cool atmosphere along with the fabulous food I've gone there several times but mostly for lunch and have never had a bad meal. My favorite is the vegetable cheesesteak,no meat. It is a little different each time which annoys a friend of mine but I don't mind they use seasonal vegetables and smother them in sharp cheddar cheese. How can you go wrong. The cheeseburger are too thin patties which is very good also. The quiche is very small but top quality and comes with a very small salad on the side I suggest getting a soup it typically is not enough. Go enjoy the good food and atmosphere but do not expect a quick meal that won't happen there and you shouldn't because they are preparing quality food one portion at a time.
(5)Lulu N.
Food was fantastic! Fresh, tasty and very healthy. I was a bit shocked by the dessert prices. I haven't learned to ask how much when they don't present a menu.
(4)Karen M.
Well the up side is that they are open til 11 pm on a Friday nite! My hubby and I arrived at 9 pm for Dinner. The atmosphere is nice and cozy and it's a place where the locals hang out. I couldn't drink cause I've been taking cold medicine but their brews and mixed drink menu was interesting. Worth going back to try it out. The down side is they stop serving the dinner menu at 9 pm. Since we arrived it was Justin time to set here wonderful dishes being served that we could not order. Big bummer. That colored the enjoyment of our visit. They have a bar menu with a couple salads, burgers, hummus and raw veggies. Very traditional boring food. I ordered the Blue Cheese Almond Grape salad with a very light vinaigrette, It was good but for $11.00 i expected it to be a bit more substantial. It was not worth the price for such a sparse salad. I ended up order a burger because I was hungry. The burger was good. It was served on a brioche roll. Steve had the same thing. Here's the thing, Steve suggested that the timing of our visit is in the spring prior to peak season. So they may offer the bar menu at an earlier hour since business can be rather slow off season. (They did not indicate this) I think its reasonable to go to a restaurant at 9 and order off the dinner menu at that time. This is a local business and I like to support local people. They are work hard to give a good offering We need to visit this place again earlier to really give it a fair rating but this is how I felt during this visit. To make matters worse I ordered a cup of herbal hot tea and they only had black teas. We'll give it another chance and hopefully be pleasantly surprised! Its in Berlin, MD and the town is charming! Oh and one more thing. Everyone has a beard. Not just here but everywhere! Is that a thing now? Not judging, just sayin.
(3)Jason R.
Bold and fearless, they do a great burger AND a good Tahi shrimp in red curry? Hummus was also a hit. One star off for poor air conditioning and flies that kept buzzing us at the table. Try the Thai coffee though, its great!
(4)Shelley M.
Had an amazing dinner last night that started with a hibiscus margarita! Yum!!!! Then the special appetizer of the day which was like a bruschetta and was sooo tasty but was called something else of which I forget. I had the raw blue cheese salad which was divine and the crispy eggplant layers that was tastefully satisfying! I will return to try the crab cake which a friend claims to be the best she has ever had in the Berlin/OC area. My brother-in-law enjoyed his burger which is a specialty of The Blacksmith! I look forward to future meals at this cool dining establishment!
(5)Emily H.
My husband and I stopped by here on vacation based on Yelp reviews and were not disappointed. Service was great, our waitress was attentive, answered our questions, and was quick, even as the restaurant started filling up. The Moscow Mules were delicious! I loved my fried oyster BLT, which was plenty of food. My husband really enjoyed his short rib sandwich as well. Overall a great experience, but took off one star for some confusion with the menu. There were discrepancies between our menus, both with items available and with price. We were charged $3 more for my drink than the price on the menu, which was annoying. Menus need to be checked and reprinted.
(4)Neal E.
went there with a sizeable party, including some small kids. I understand they are not marketing towards families, but they should have at least one high chair in the place. service was, great selection of local beers. Everything had a good flavor, but they missed the mark on how long they cooked our pork belly appetizer and my mahi mahi. it is really hard to overcook pork belly, but it came out dry. shrimp and grits were awesome all around though.

Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name. Sounds a little cliche, maybe. But this new quaint spot makes you feel like you've been there time and time again. When stepping inside for the first time, it feels comfortable. The friendly bartender, (also a great artist), makes you feel right at home & the owner made a point to ask us how was our meal. But let's get to the food! I was impressed by the limited menu. That immediately tells me that I am in for a treat. I had the burger & wow- its all I can think about. Mouthwatering & scrumptious!! Loved the squash ketchup-it was a perfect addition, but would of worked equally great without. The amaretto cake was a great finale. Loved the apple cider beer & Burley Oak on tap. Highly recommend, & you just may see me there as this is definitely my 'go to' spot!
(5)David M.
Great veggie options for vegetarians, good salads, and sandwiches. Friendly too. Also craft beer selections.

Update: April 2015.... I think it's fair to give this place 5 stars now. The service is incredibly improved and the food keeps getting better and better. While they still have it, i really recommend the blue cheese salad. It's SO good. I could probably eat that salad every day of my life. UPDATE: Feb 2015 my husband and I returned and service is improving, food timing is improving. We were seated for 10 minutes before I had a flag down a waitress to figure out which waitress was supposed to be waiting on our table (turns out it was the girl I flagged down... imagine that... lol) But nevertheless. I'm not ready to change my rating but with one more good visit, I can imagine that the rating will go up. Ok.... I REALLY hate to give this place three stars. And this is why: The food.... most of the time is AMAZING. Creative, well prepared, thoughtfully executed. The drinks.... most of the time are creative, delicious and satisfying. The location is convenient, warm, comfortably decorated, and hip. BUTTTTTTTTTTT...... The service is SPOTTY as hell. I have been here about 5-7 times now... and I waited until I had been a few times to give an honest review. Several times now I've been there and it has taken 5 minutes before a waiter or bartender has even acknowledged that we are standing at the door. One time it took 15 minutes to be seated in an almost EMPTY restaurant (there were like 7 people seated) WHEN WE HAD A RESERVATION. Speaking of reservations-- they don't mean much there. Sometimes it matters and you are seated right away... sometimes they take 15 minutes to seat you even when there is plenty of space and you have a reservation... and SOMETIMES (like in the case of my best friend) you call to make a reservation and the guy on the other line goes on for 5 minutes about how they dont really take reservations, but sometimes they do and "this hasn't circulated around to the crew yet" so he can't really take a reservation and he can't really honor it but if you give him your name he'll see what he can do. Sorry bro. You either take reservations... or you DONT. It's ok if you don't. Marlin Moon Grille was a GREAT restaurant that didn't take reservations. Just get your shit together before you sound like you have no idea what you're talking about. Not to mention, we ordered Apps, and entrees... the waitress even said, "Here let me put the apps in first so they can come out first" and 20 minutes after we put in our order, ALL of our food came out in one big jumble of plates at the same time. Don't get me wrong... all of them were DELICIOUS... but get your shit together. Timing apps and entrees is not that hard. The waiters are always nice, so again... dont get me wrong... but there seems to be a lot of turn over in waiters (not sure why, they seem pretty busy) and none of them can get into a groove together. I don't really go to the bar, but I hear from friends and my husband that the drinks can be spotty as well-- as in one gin and tonic is perfect and the other one is a $10 glass of tonic because he cannot taste ANY gin in it whatsoever. Overall--- 1. The food is amazing. 2. The cocktails, when prepared properly are awesome. 3. The servers are well intentioned, but COMPLETELY off their game and there is a huge disconnect between the service and the kitchen and they REALLY just need a hostess and some organization classes. But, I live nearby and I will be back and I hope as they get comfortable they start improving the service so that the whole restaurant catches up to just how amazing the food is.

This review is based on purely on the rude staff at this place. We were on vacation in Assateague for the week with another family and were looking for someplace to eat relatively close that wasn't the typical tourist trap. Having 4 kids in tow, options are limited but this place had good reviews and Yelp said the place was good for kids. The menu looked interesting, and they had a nice selection of craft brews. Sold. We head over, and soon realize that Yelp was probably mistaken on the kid friendly thing. I get it, when you are in a nice restaurant kids can muck up the experience, so we try to find places that are "kid friendly". Again, not this place, though Yelp said it was. Ok, so no kids food that a few 5-7 year olds would eat but the hostess said they could make a grilled cheese (in her most annoyed tone of voice she could muster). There was only one other table seated, and besides that the place was empty so we figured what the hell. Even if it fails, that other table would be out soon and we wouldn't be disturbing anyone. We are seated and one of the kids starts to cry because she wanted to sit on the white fluffy chair, but she stops crying. I look up, and the hostess is staring right at me with a look like I killed her puppy dog. I look away, thinking that maybe I just caught her glance, but I look up again, and same look. I look up again, and same dead eye stare. Somehow in an empty restaurant i'm clearly inconveniencing her that one of the kids is crying. I mean, why would they want to take my money when they were clearly raking it in that night. Anyway, I took the hint, and we all left and ended up at some crappy Italian restaurant down the road. Note to small business person who owns this place, if you want to make money when your restaurant is empty, try to have some friendly staff employed. Just a thought.

Fresh and delicious just as it looks! A must try. Been here many times and finally had the burger.

Blacksmith - Bar and Restaurant Wow! What a great addition to the growing food scene in Berlin, MD. Blacksmith is the latest creation from the mind who brought us Planet X in Rehoboth; Eclectic and adventurous menu items are to be expected. Faithful reader, please forgive me, on my first trip to Blacksmith, I did not sample: the Short Ribs over Polenta, nor the Flash Fried Oysters; I also skipped, the Drunken Clams(Drunk on Burley Oak) My dining partner had Salad with Steak, I had a bite... Delicoius! I was feeling rather basic that evening and I ordered the House Burger. Meat and potato lovers, BEWARE, this thing was awesome. Two hand formed patties layered with Cheese delivered on a locally sourced fresh baked Brioche. On the side pan fried heirloom potatos (?) I washed it down with 2 Dogfish Head 60 minute IPA's, A perfect match - exactly what the doctor ordered. I should point out that Blacksmith offers a full bar and has Burley Oak on tap, I however, went with the Dogfish Head; I have been bashing them (Dogfish) a bit since Burley Oak came on the scene. I know that the owner of Blacksmith spent many years in the Rehoboth Beach area, so I tipped my hat to her past and opted for the Dogfish 60 minute IPA. It was a perfect pairing - I was right. I could go on about how the owners and staff view Blacksmith as a labor of love; how the philosophy of Farm to Table, Organic and Craft Cooking is alive and well; I could try and sell you on the look and feel of the freshly renovated space. However, you, the faithful reader, know as well as I... The Proof is in the Pudding. You can get specials and other info on their facebook: facebook.com/Blacksmithr…

We went to beautiful Berlin,MD on a family camping trip. A shop owner in Rehoboth Beach suggested Blacksmith. There were 8 people in our party. We were there for a late lunch-3pm. And it was happy hour. There was a great selection of beer and wine. The food was amazing!! We had the beef short rib tostadas, empanadas, and curried chicken meatballs for appetizers. A few people had the burger, which was a double cheeseburger and it was huge! And delicious. We will definitely eat here again (and again). The service was excellent. Our reeves was ver quick ,personable, and knowledgable.
(5)Ang R.
Really great neighborhood restaurant. Menu has great variety - hard to decide what to get! Good beer and wine list, interesting Cocktails. We had the fried oyster sandwich, mushroom sandwich and Pesto pasta with shrimp. All delicious. Plus Berlin is just a great little town.
(5)J. R.
On two separate occasions, I have ordered dishes on the menu that came out missing major ingredients. Once they sent out the missing ingredient (limp asparagus that was claimed to be local, when it was completely out of season). The second time we were told the chef had chosen to not incorporate the ingredient (butternut squash) because the produce was seasonal and sub par when delivered that day. The dish was not at all what I expected and I tried to send it back to the kitchen. Our server was extremely accommodating and apologized, asking if I wanted to see a menu and pick a replacement. Unfortunately she was rebuffed by the kitchen and I was told that the squash was actually incorporated in the sauce, not "missing" like she had first been told, and as such they would not refund my order or replace it. I couldn't order anything else "unless I paid for it". Ridiculous. One way or the other we were lied to, and this put our kind server in a very awkward position, and me without dinner. We will not be back. This was unacceptable.
(1)Diana S.
So glad we found this hidden gem today. Interior is chic & cozy. Service was on point. Our server was very helpful & efficient. Food was ridiculously good. We can't wait to return when visiting again.
(5)Christina M.
I went to Blacksmith on a Saturday afternoon with my family visiting from out of town. The food was delicious, and there was a great beer menu. Highly recommend the fried oysters, the burger, and the Bahn Mi sandwich... delish. Can't wait to go back and try other items on the menu.
(5)Frank P.
what a find, thanks to locals see photos delicious innovative the chef & staff 5 stars as well
(5)Kevin H.
So the girlfriend and I went this place based on yelp reviews. We were not disappointed. The drinks were the absolute best ive ever had bar none. I appreciate a finely made cocktail that I can not make at home. (Yes they average between 10 and 15 dollars, but they are well worth the price) (I despise paying 15 dollars for a gin and tonic that I could easily make myself.) We had two mules, which are served in solid copper mugs. They were well mixed perfectly balanced drinks that were a welcome refreshment on a hot summer day. The food lived up to the shadow of the drinks. We had the housemade burger and old bay infused brats... both of which were so amazing and mouthwatering, I had to catch a little drool. All in all, i very rarely formally review restaurants, however, Blacksmith deserved ten minutes. 5 out of 5 Also, see review of "Baked Dessert Bakery and Cafe," which we mosied over to after our lunch... 5 out 5 as well.

What a find! We were headed back to Delaware from Virginia Beach. Took a chance in a town we had never been to, and we found a jewel! I had steak, potatoes Anna, and vegetables. My partner had duck confit with hearty squash risotto. The depth of flavors made this meal special. The locally sourced and organic ingredients was a bonus and was noticeable in the meal. Upbeat music and positive vibe in quaint small town USA. Server Sean was attentive and pleasant, but not overbearing. Will be a destination next time through.
(5)Tarik B.
The ambience was fantastic. The service was amazing and well informed And the food was nothing short of sublime. A MUST visit if you're anywhere in the area
(5)Janine M.
Loved everything about this place. Started off with the home made hummus which was excellent. I had the veggie cheese "steak". This sandwich was layered with cold and then warm vegetables, cheese melted on top. My fiancé had a soft shell crab BLT. We both loved our meals. Will definitely return. It is also in a very cute town. The craft beer is very smooth. We had Rude boy.
(5)Tony K.
Went to Blacksmith for a lunch date with the Mrs. Atmosphere was fairly tranquil, with some funky music playing in the background. Seating area was wide open, with a full view of the cool bar. I had a Burley Oak IPA that was very tasty to go along with my Mac and Cheese and Fried Oyster BLT. The Mac and Cheese was delicious, and the BLT while a little difficult to eat, was actually a very good sandwich. The Mrs. had the Leek and Carrot Soup that was on special, and a Grilled Veggie Wrap. Both had a great combination of flavors, and made for an excellent vegetarian lunch. I will definitely be back.
(4)Natalia G.
If you are lucky enough to come to berlin, you'll be very fortunate if you stumble upon this place. The food is absolutely phenomenal, I mean they even make their own out of this world ketchup and the pickles oh those pickles! Service just go along with the food quality our server Summer and bartender Richard were great, friendly and knowledgeable. It's hard not to love this place, if you are a vegetarian like me just go ahead an order the veggie burger you won't regret it, the best veggie burger I have ever had...
(5)Sara W.
A different concept of dining, unique ambience and plating concept. Small plates for tasting or a good lunch place due to small portion sizes. Pricy drinks and dessert. Food is reasonable but you don't get much. A nice change to the menu options around the eastern shore this menu defiantly makes a culinary statement for any foodie.
(4)Susannah L.
Outstanding flavors and excellent preparation! There us nothing ordinary about this place, from the menu items to the decor to the brews on tap. Everything on the menu is sourced as locally as possible. I think I'm going to try to eat my way through the menu.
(5)James S.
It was a wonderful atmosphere, but service was painfully slow. The food tasted good but not worth the premium price paid. 8.00 for a slice of key lime pie is ridiculous no matter how you cut it. It was a nice evening but expensive!
(3)Melisa W.

I'm quite fond of this place. It has a funky, hip vibe you'd expect to find in Baltimore, Philly, etc. The food and drink menus read really well with lots of creative options. You can tell a lot of time and effort are put into both. The soft shell, short rib, scrapple bahn mi, and scotch egg were all awesome choices. Everything we ate here was excellent. My one complaint was the bartender, though pleasant, she was a bit aloof and didn't put much effort into the making of the cocktails. As a result they were pretty unbalanced and unpleasant. She just kind of dumped everything in the glass and let it rip like she was making a Jack and Coke. Get her a Boston shaker and a bar spoon and she'll be good to go. Overall, a great addition to town. I'll be growing a gnarly beard and returning ASAP.

My wife and I stumbled across this place last Saturday evening. We did not have a reservation but were immediately started. Nice surprise since the place was very crowded. Great atmosphere! Nice crowd. Service great and very friendly. Asian meatball appetizer was great. Tried the house martini, cucumber, bay seasoning, asparagus. Interesting but would not order it again. Just too many flavors mixed in. The Cabernet recommended by the waitress was excellent. Had the pork which came in a wrap. Was great. Flavorful and tasty. Will definitely go back.

Had high hopes but disappointed. One entree totally cold, I didn't want the old bay chips and asked if I could substitute something else. She offered "fries" beware- they charged me for the slightly warm, soggy fries that were bathed in vinegar! Won't be going back!

Wow! The flavor is both surprising and amazing. Let the staff lead you on a journey that will tempt your taste buds. The atmosphere is fun and light. The beer selection is not abundant but what they have is both local and delicious. An excellent find in a quaint little town that is well worth the drive from, well, anywhere.

Stopped in here on a rainy night while camping on Assateague on the recommendation of the bartender at Burley Oak brewery, where we had stopped first (our new favorite brewery, btw!). He said it was absolutely the best food in the area and he wasn't kidding. Everything about this place was awesome. It was very crowded when we walked in but we were able to snag a spot at the bar. The bartender was super nice and and the service was pretty much perfect. The bar area was really inviting, especially on a cold rainy night. The whole place had a warm and cozy feeling. From what the bartender told us, the menu changes frequently and they hand write the menus everyday. Everything was seasonal and homemade. We started with some Burley Oak beers and drunken clams (cooked in Burley Oak beer). Both were awesome. Then we split the eastern shore banh mi and it was really tasty and creative. It had all the usual banh mi elements (amazing bread, pickled veg, spicy mayo, etc) with the eastern shore twist of slow cooked pork shoulder and scrapple. It was served with homemade pork rinds. Yummy. Really unique and delicious. We also split the boneless beef short ribs which came on top of cheesy grits with homemade pickled vegetables. These were quite literally the best short ribs we've ever had (and my husband has a pretty high bar in this area). They just melted in your mouth and had an amazingly rich flavor. The grits were out of this world and the pickled vegetables added just the right tangy touch. Would drive the 3.5 hours from home just to have this dish again. Outstanding. Wish we lived closer because this would be our go-to spot. Really amazing food at reasonable prices, especially for the level of quality in both ingredients and execution. Cozy & charming. Local and homemade food. Awesome service and people. Burley Oak beer. Pretty much perfect experience.

Edit: Burgers came out med rare to med well. No consistency for not giving you a choice. Mine was medium and it was great. Best burger in town? Being the only totally hipster joint serving burgers, does not the best burger make. How can you have "the best in town" if you serve well done 1/4 lb. patties. If you don't prepare burgers to order, you can't be the best. This is how McDonald's servers burgers. Their Way.

Everything about this restaurant was good. Service could have been a bit more friendly but all was good in the end. Wish they had a kids menu (in writing) but the waiter did say they had kid items. The kids loved the burgers and I loved the Chicken salad which was shredded (love it that way!)

Great lunch. My wife had the curried chicken salad and I had the fried oyster BLT sandwich, which was incredible. The only "flaw"'was serving generic bagged potato chips - surprising and the food deserves a good, homemade ( or at least an "upscale) chip! In any event, can't wait to return.

I drove by Blacksmith by chance after a meeting in Berlin, and decided to stop in and check the place out. It's such a cool little place, great little parking area, a huge plus for the busy times. I sat at the bar and had a fried oyster dish, it was fantastic. They also have Burley Oak beers on tap, definitely one of my new favorite breweries. The bartender, Diana, was super nice and helpful. I'll definitely stop in with some friends for dinner next time I'm in town!

Blacksmith is absolutely amazing. We were immediately impressed with the cool atmosphere and locally sourced ingredients. Our server was attentive and offered great recommendations, pairing drinks with meals. The squash ketchup and shrimp taquitos were some of our favorite eats...

Four of us stopped in for lunch. All of us ordered something different, One egg salad, one pork shoulder salad, one empanadas with beef and my veggie philly cheese. ALL great, would do it again, highly recommend! Matt our server was professional and very helpful in making our decisions.

Honestly this was hands down the worst place I've ever eaten at in all my years on this planet. If this is a restaurant then I could open a restaurant and you know what it would be better. Shocked that there is even this many stars. First off not enough menus for everyone in the restaurant. We had to all share. How hard is it to make photo copies??? Ordered the Blt salad and it was microwave bacon on top of bags of lettuce and nothing else. Asked about the veggie burger and was told it was Morningstar. Why would I pay 12$ for a 3$ frozen burger?? Now I ordered a few small plates. Ordered the beef empanadas, the fish taco and the shrimp taquitos and they all looked exactly the same. They were all open faced on fried tortilla. ???? Taquitos are rolled up!!! A taco is not open faced!! You can fold a taco! The beef in the empanadas of course were opened faced too and the meat tasted like dog food. The fish in the open faced things was frozen gross fish toped with jarred salsa. Do yourself a favor and go to Burger King at least you won't be disappointed.

Wow! Excellent service, excellent drinks. And the food.....amazing. All locally grown and sourced, cooked fresh and to order, a creative menu that changes regularly with the freshest ingredients make for an mouthwatering combination. The bacon-wrapped scallions, genius idea. House burger cooked perfectly with a freshly made bun. Grits cooked better than any southern soul kitchen could ever dream of. Get the fried oyster mushroom, you won't regret it. Tip heavily, they work hard to make you happy.

Excellent locally sourced ingredients. Came on a weekday afternoon so it wasn't crowded. My dad got the quiche of the day (spinach, goat cheese and tomato) which was rich and creamy. My sister got the crab cake sandwich. Very meaty. I got the rock fish tacos that were excellent!!

Great place to eat!!! The food was wonderful with great pricing and wait staff! I will eat here more often!!

Great Decor, but you can't eat furniture! Service was slower than slow and was not so busy. I think they must have messed up our order. I really don't know how you can mess up a steak that much! Uber small portions too, I needed to go home for a bowl of cereal afterwards! Expensive for what it is and for me the value is not there. Decent drinks were the best part of the time spent here. Would not recommend.

This place had a really neat vibe and the food was excellent. The boys had their famous burger and it was terrific. I had a Flat Iron Steak with Crab/Pesto Risotto with Swiss Chard. This place is worth a second visit!!
