Down in OCMD for the weekend, and unfortunately got rained out. We picked up dinner to go from Assateague Crab House for 6. While driving from Rehoboth Beach, DE, cell service was pretty spotty. We called ACH 3 times using different phones with different carriers, and the person who picked up kept hanging up on us because she couldn't hear anything. Beware if you have the same issue calling in; keep trying. They do have a landline, but the area is kind of remote. We ordered: - stuffed mushroom caps - 2 orders of the Chesapeake Bay Lobster Bake (includes a whole, Maine lobster, 1/2 dozen steamed crabs, a dozen little neck clams, 1/2 lb. shrimp, 2 ears of corn, and cole slaw) - 2 dozen medium crabs Since we were staying in OC, we had about a half hour drive back to our condo. The seafood stayed pretty warm in its packaging, but the shrimp and corn eventually overcooked itself in the steam. The crabs were really delicious and meaty. The only downside was that they were all male crabs - most of us do enjoy eating female crabs for the tasty stuff under the shell. The Maine lobsters were massive - they had to have been between 1-2 lbs each. The little neck clams were decent, no complaints. We tried to substitute the cole slaw for more corn, but they do not allow substitutions. We originally asked for all of the old bay seasoning on the side. There were a handful of crabs that were covered in old bay... Based on the number of crabs each person consumed, vs. what we ordered, we all deduced that the old bay crabs were freebies (thanks, Assateague Crab House)!!! Overall a really great meal and reasonably priced. Would def try to eat in if I'm ever in the area again!

We went with our family - a table for 8 adults! The crabs were great! Cooked and seasoned just right. The facility is very clean and the staff is very friendly! They only serve beer and wine (no real wine selection) but we had a pitcher of Yeungling beer and had a feast!

Yelped a seafood joint after our beach daycation and we did not regret our choice. It was just my husband and I and we ordered the feast for two for 52.99 or was it 54.99. It included a lobster, clams, shrimp, corn and coleslaw. Everything cooked to perfection!! The lobster was also big. We opted out of getting the all you can eat because we normally don't eat much. Even the feast for two was way too much food! Try them out.. You will not regret it :)

Just left. First time dining at this restaurant. I ordered Crab Dip as an appetizer and a Soft Shell Crab sandwich with fries as my entree. The food was delicious and fantastic but the fact that my guest and I were served after people who came after us was simply a poor example of customer service.

All you can eat is nice. That being said? Service was eh, the shrimp were overcooked. The stuffed mushrooms were pretty good but nothing to write home about. Crab Cake was tasty, but in the land of crabs a plenty? I would have to say this place was a solid 3 stars. Stop by if you're in the area. Dont make a special trip.

We have a vacation place near here so decided to stop in on our way home from a day on the water. What a mistake. Had the seafood platter $24.99. It had a piece of flounder with something yellow brushed on it that tasted horrible. Three of the four scallops were half cooked. The shrimp was totally overcooked and dry. The crab cake had way too much mayo in it, and the salad had old black wilted lettuce in it. Everything was barely warm. I should have sent it back, but decided to let the waitress know about some of the issues. She didn't see to care other than to suggest we order the platter fried in the future and brought us the check. Could she really believe we would go there again??? There are tons of really good seafood places on the harbor.

A typical , paper covered table, gorge your self with all-you-can-eat smallest possible yet legal crabs. IMO, and after all isn't that what this is really all about? Everything was under seasoned. (And I'm not a fan of "spicy" food) The cream of crab soup was very good as was the fresh, local Silver Queen corn. The broiled seafood platter appeared BOILED. There is no way this platter ever went near a salamander. Scallops were undercooked and shrimp were rubbery, overcooked. Service was pleasant and attentive. Adding to my disdain they were out of anything for dessert with fresh berries. (Which seemed odd as they are next to a local fruit stand/market.)

Had the typical all you can eat fare. Everything cooked to perfection. Good flavor, friendly service, not too busy or loud for a vacation spot eatery. Would come here every night rather than anything in OC.

Stopped by after leaving the park to grab a bite to eat for lunch. I ordered a cup of the Maryland crab soup to start which was very good with a nice little subtle kick of spiciness to it. The crab cake sandwich was good loaded up with crab meat and very little filler. On the other side of table my friend ordered the platter of snow crab legs with corn and fries which was also very good.. I will say I'm not a big snow crab fan out of pure laziness lol but they were tasty plus the butter they used was really good to dip the crab meat in. The place was cool inside had neat decor and the staff was really nice. I would def stop by here again if I'm in the area it's an all around good place to enjoy a bite to eat.

I make a trip to this place once year while on vacation with my family in OCMD. And I look forward to it every year. We usually go as a large party and they have no problem sitting us all together (plenty of tables for large groups available) within a reasonable amount of time. And if there is a wait (usually no longer than a half hour) there is a game room in the back with all the good arcade games. My favorite being pin ball.... how many places these days can you say there is an authentic pin ball machine?!?! LOVE IT! As for the food... NO COMPLAINTS! I typically get the seafood platter and at $25 its well worth it. Comes with a huge crab cake (NO FILLER), 4 shrimps, 4 scallops, and a flounder fillet (oh and two sides). A few people in my family always get the stuffed flounder and I can also say it is very tasty! I'm sad to say that I have never done the all you can eat crabs here (just b/c the seafood platter is THAT good), but I would say about 50% or more of the people dining are eating crabs, so I"m going to assume based on that many people eating crabs (and the other reviews here) that they are good as well. If you're in OCMD take the trek across the bridge and go to this crab house. And while you're at it, take a trip over to Assateague Island and check out the wild ponies too!

We go to Ocean City, MD once a year for Sunfest and decided to try the restaurant for lunch after our visit to see the Assateague wild horses. We had great crab soup, salads and a pitcher of beer - and a pretty quiet lunch. Everyone was so friendly and nice. We decided to return for dinner that night because they were expecting some local crabs. The place was absolutely mobbed! The crabs were excellent - I asked for 6 but got 12 because our waiter said they were on the small side. My friends also were happy with their meals. The food came quickly even though they were very busy. Great service and good food. Also great value! Will definitely stop back next year!

I was really excited to get an authentic crab shack experience. We were dining early so we were the only ones in the restaraunt. We ordered crab dip and shared a plate of crab legs. The dip was pretty tastey but the bread they provided would have been better toasted or at least warm. The crab legs were good but the sides weren't too hot. The corn lacked flavor and the fries tasted like they were fried in grease was starting to go bad. The service was fast and friendly. They did have their dog roaming around in the dining room... that didn't seem very sanitary.

Dinner for two (lobster, crabs, shrimp, mussels, coleslaw and corn) for $45 was a great deal. Delicious.

If you're planning on going to the beach to enjoy nature and not just to get drunk and sunburned, then this place is for you, located just a few miles from Assateague Island National Seashore. You can really bit into these steamed blue crabs they are full and heavy, unlike some of the other places you can get them at. Not too far from Ocean City, Maryland.

Plan A: go to hardware store to buy crab nets and grocery store to buy raw chicken in order to catch our dinner. Plan B: after 1.5 hours of sitting around and catching 1 dinky little crab that was too small to take back, we decided to pretend we caught crab and ate a dozen at the Assateague Crab House. This is literally the only restaurant near Assateague, and it's about 3/4 mile from the bridge to Assateague, so if the wild ponies stole your dinner or you are just sick of "camping," the Crab House is a great place to be. The Maryland crab chowder was zesty, full of veggies, and you could practically smell the fresh crab meat. The soup of the day, cream of crab, was literally melted butter with a few pieces of crab meat inside. Hey, some people love the taste of butter. The crabs weren't that good, but I haven't found anywhere with good crabs this season. A medium dozen were $22.95 and along with a couple of beers, this turned out to be a filling lunch followed by a long nap on the beach. A fun atmosphere, friendly staff, and the lack of anything else around makes this a great place to stop by if you're in the neighborhood.

Arrived shortly after opening in the afternoon, seated immediately, came here excited for some crab! asked the market price for the all you can eat snow crab meal and realized it was much better to just order the snow crab plate. I didn't remember seeing it on the website menu, but there apparently was one. The price was right, I didn't end up with food I didn't need (didn't waste anything) and as far as i could tell, unlike the all-you-can-eat there were no rules against sharing. My dad got the maryland crabs and I traded a snow cluster for one of his. The quality was great, all of the crab was cooked perfectly, and we enjoyed it so immensely. The only casualty was the poorly cooked steamed shrimp, which ended up pasty and mushy and my sister couldn't finish it. My tip: Come here for crab, you don't need the shrimp, you aren't missing out. amazing amazing amazing. I would eat here every time.

Food was really good. We had the all you can eat snow crab and blue claw. People where very nice. We will definitely go back when we are in town.

Stopped on the way out of the state park. Crab cakes all meat. Fried chicken juicy. Corn was sweet. And the grilled tuna sandwhich was perfect. Not too fishy.

While spending a weekend camping at Assateague National Park, my friends and I had an amazing epiphany. We deserved to eat unlimited crab at one of the places that we passed on our way to the island. Then the yelp searches began along with the internal arguments within my group of 10 as to which place we should head to. Is this the fanciest place on earth? - no way. is it a nice break from camp food?- definitely. does it hit the spot if you love crabs?- definitely. This place has simplicity down to a tee. Cover the table with the equivalent of paper bags, take the order then come back and dump a bunch of corns, chicken, bowls of cole slaw and crabs on the table- your unlimited meal is actually a feast of several different items. The one complaint that I have is that there are 2 different unlimited crab options. The prices are seasonal, but at the time the king crab leg unlimited option was $10 more than the Maryland crab option ($30). Though I appreciate the unlimited option and willingness to just dump a bunch of crab on the table, the speed of refilling these "unlimited: crabs was slow and actually needed to be requested. That was kind of annoying. Otherwise all was well and a fun break from the campground. I'll definitely stop back when I'm next in the area.

So good this year! I could have eaten a bushel. For nostalgia sake. Lets see if it's still any good.

This is by far one of the best crab houses I have ever been too. They offer fried chicken and steamed shrimp with their all you can eat crabs. By far, the best deal for crabs!!
(5)Alisha B.
This is a crab place and they do steamed crabs very, very well. Your table is spread with brown paper, you get your bib and mallet, and a plastic bucket is placed discreetly by your feet. It is your choice what size crab to get (always get the largest ones so you have to exert less effort for the meat). You get all of the butter, vinegar, and old bay that you need. All that is left is to settle in with a pitcher of beer and wait for the crabs to be served. I was very happy with the crabs here. I paid $40 for a dozen steamed large crabs and I consider that a pretty good deal. Sides are extra and you can get the usual coleslaw and corn. Beer is pretty cheap too. The folks in our group who didn't eat crabs were disappointed with their entrees (ribs and fried shrimp) and said they weren't anything special. The crab eaters were extremely satisfied.

Born and raised in OC I love love my steamed crabs... Theirs was just OK... not a place I'll return to

We got the lobster bake and everything was delicious. The service was okay and the free wifi was a plus. The bathrooms could have been a little cleaner.

Such a great place! A little off the beaten trail but definitely worth it. Some of the best blue crab I had on my trip to Ocean City and it was the best fried chicken I've EVER had. The staff was super super friendly and the atmosphere was fun. I might make the trip back from Boston just to go back here

Absolutely the best seafood experience I have ever had. Fresh, perfectly cooked, well-seasoned and just so dang much of it! I split the Lobster Bake for Two with my husband and I would highly recommend this dish if you have someone to share with. The wait staff was very friendly and gave us useful tips on picking crabs (as we are novices). Love this place!

Made a day trip to Assateague with the kids to hit the beach and see the wild horses. Both of those were awesome. On the way back we passed this place and made a u turn to go to it. We are glad we did. This is the kind of local charm you can't pass up or you miss part of the Chesapeake experience. This place is a true Maryland crab shack. They have all you can eat steamed crab, steamed shrimp and fried chicken (with corn on the cob and cole slaw), yes I said all you can eat crab, shrimp and fried chicken. Come here hungry. The food is excellent. They put a sheet of brown paper on your table and bring you a mallet. You can get markers too. Time to regress a little and get in touch with your inner caveman. They do have kids meals, including chicken fingers for those who don't like seafood. The service is awesome and the place is decorated with a lot of old school seafaring and beachy chachkes. Unfortunately, I can't say it's cheap. Dinner with the kids topped a hundred beans. Beyond my normal limits for a family dinner, but well worth it for the experience. I will be back.

Very nice staff, good service, very good food. Got there a bit late--830 or so, they were nice anyway. We had crab cakes, stuffed mushrooms, and a dozen crabs. The stuffed mushrooms were huge and really stuffed with crab. I wish they made it clear if you could order crabs in quantities less than dozen. menu says "crabs market price for dozen" and we ordered those, could only eat 8, and had to give the others away. The waitress told us "next time just order less." The "all you can eat" deal looked good, the fried chicken looked tasty. but you cannot order it after 830. I think this was a nice place to go cuz you got the country road drive, out in middle of nowhere, much less corporate "applebees" type feel than most of the place in OC. I think it was "rustic" but certainly nowhere near as "rustic" as the crab barns I remember from when I was a kid. If I am back in OC, I am definitely going to go here for my crab fix

We just ate at the Assateague Crab House, 4 adults and 4 children. The wait was shorter then we were told, that's a big plus when dinning with young kids. They seated us in a separate room, another plus. Everyone was happy with their meal. It took quite a while for the waitress to refill drinks, bring more crabs and way too long to bring the bill. The whole meal was fine until it was time to pay the bill. The menu stated the gratuity would be added to parties over 6, but not to worry the bill would be itemized. The problem started when I asked to take the itemized bill after an older lady swiped my card for $236.00. She refused, I mentioned the menu stated there would be an itemized bill. She very rudely asked who told me that. The confrontation ruining the entire evening. We will not eat there again, do to the older rude lady at the end of a decent meal.

I was skeptical to bring my family here based on several negative reviews that I read about the wait staff being rude and the long wait times to get your order. Since we have 3 young children, we usually visit restaurants that have fast service and great, quality food. I tell you what, the Assateague Crab House totally blew us away! Not only was the wait staff very friendly, but the food was served quickly. Granted, we ordered the all you can eat snow crab legs (didn't order the blue crabs since we eat those all the time being that we live in MD) which came with shrimp, fried chicken, corn, and cole slaw, so one would expect that these items would be ready to serve within minutes of ordering. The food was amazing! I usually opt not to eat fried chicken at all you can eat restaurants since I'd rather fill my tummy with seafood, but I ate a chicken breast and it was the most tender and moistest chicken I have ever had. The snow crab legs and shrimp were cooked perfectly...not over done so the shells separated from the meat easily. (Oh man, that fried chicken was soooo good!) The corn was sweet and the coleslaw creamy and tasty. Did I mention that the fried chicken was excellent?!! I ate a few fries from my kids' platters, too, and the fries were great. Sweet dinner rolls were brought out shortly after our platters were served and I usually try not to eat those either since they're just fillers that take us space in my tummy that should be occupied by seafood (and their yummy fried chicken). But, I tried one, which soon turned into 2 1/2 (ate one of my kids' half eaten rolls)....they weren't warm, but, man, they were so sweet and fluffy that it was difficult to stop at one roll. Add some buttah to that bad and you got yourself a tasty treat! Definitely an excellent place to go if you want some seafood (AND FRIED CHICKEN!) and the place is family friendly. Whenever we go back to Assateague Island National Seashore, we will definitely stop by there for dinner again. Man, I still can't get over fried chicken....it was sooooo good!! Masarap for those that understand tagalog.

Don't bother packing a lunch to eat on Assateague. Stop here for delicious fried flounder & fresh picked crab cakes. Fried is the best preparation for the flounder. My daughter had the crab meat stuffed shrimp - decadent. This establishment has been in the same family for 13 years. It's obvious that they care. Service was great & the bathrooms spotless! You can get birch beer on tap. Nice surprise.
(3)David S.
The cream crab soup was pretty good. The crab cakes did not have a fresh taste. Service OK.
