The food is very tasty authentic Caribbean food. I would recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a taste of the Caribbean

This place has potential, but it's in a poor location with little traffic. The exterior and interior have also seen better days. The menus are run down and feel dirty. Even the bar looks like it's been gathering dust. Still, I gave the proprietress a chance to share insight with me about the offerings on the menu. I was excited for food like calaloo and vegetable patties, plantains and zucchini sticks, rice and peas, roti and other spicy flavored Caribbean delights. However, as I inquired, the staff were reluctant to answer, not knowledgeable and even became argumentative with me. Still, I resigned to give the food a chance. I went with calaloo and the vegetable dinner. Yes, yes, yes, the rice and peas were wonderful, as they were, as promised, cooked with coconut cream. Delicious. There were curried potatoes that were tasty. After that, it was disappointing, tasteless and unappealing. The salad looked awful. The cabbage was insipid. The calaloo tasted like a chemical soup of frozen and thawed and refrozen and thawed mushy green disappointingly unfresh collards or some type of mustard green. The concoction was also drowning in an electric yellow oil that reminded me of movie theater popcorn. The plantains were soggy, meaning they were clearly fried earlier and just, well, like the rest of the food, microwaved. So.... while I recommend the rice and peas and would possibly venture back to see what else is tasty based on that one dish, all the other dishes made me sad, left a bad taste in my mouth, and made me feel nasty afterwards. If the staff were friendly and accommodating, I'd consider returning, but... no such luck. If you go, I hope you have a better experience.

I came here a few days ago and was really disappointed. I can honestly say I've had better Jamaican food. Even their pineapple ginger drink wasn't that great. I won't be going back here

i been here once, and i can say i wont ever come again. I came for the jerk chicken plater. it taste a little off. like they put vinegar in the rice or somthing. It didnt look like the tradiontal rice and peas. it was white rice with veggies in it. I thought i was getting cabbage but i recieved salad with some homade dressing. The only thing that was okay was the jerk chicken itself. this place is a below average establishment. I see why its in the cut. lol

I love the jerk chicken, rice & peas, ox tail and the roti. That being said, the curry shrimp are too small, the service is slow. I have not tried the other entrees so I can not speak on them. The salad is bland. It's just iceberg lettuce and a tomato wedge..with watered down home made thousand island dressing. I have been going here since 2000. So Yes, I am a fan of the things that I eat there all the time. Yes, I have been to Jamaica.

First of all, this dude is Guyanese and serves guyanese food. He needs to name his restaurant "Guyanese Delight" or whatever and not "Caribbean Delight". I had never been to the restaurant and decided to try it out. The decor of the place is just okay but could be alot better in order to give that "caribbean" vibe to the cutomers since he is naming his restaurant "Caribbean Delight". I would say that the owner/manager, Dennis, (at the time) was a bit nice but his employee (frail, light skinned old lady) with the glasses is RUDE as HECK!!! No customer service whatsoever! I ordered the jerk chicken that comes with rice + peas, plantains and salad. When I got home, I saw a piece of tape and a small stick in the rice. I called the owner to let him know. He asked me to come back. Honestly, i did not feel like driving all the way there as I had already gotten home. So, on good Friday, I was at work and decided to give them another try. I called to place an order. And the old lady would not be patient with me when I was trying to make a decision on what to get as I did not eat meat that day since i'm Catholic. She was very impatient and hung up the phone. Yes, I said it. She hung up the phone. I couldn't believe it. I called back and asked to speak with Dennis. I spoke with him and explained the first issue I had (again) and now this new one. And he could care less and indirectly told me to go to hell. I won't be going back there again. They are rude people, have no customer service and feel as though they are doing you (the customer) a favor by you coming to eat at their restaurant. They forget that without customers, they won't have a business. Now, I see why the day I went there, only 4 customers where there (myself included).

I recently moved to Laurel from NW DC and decided to give this place a try on my way home. I have had better. I ordered a patty with my to go order and when I got home, it was not in my bag. I ordered the curry chicken and everything seemed dry. The salad was bland and after reading the reviews, I guess my expectations were too high. I'm disappointed and feel like I wasted $12.

The jerk chicken was not good at all and the rice and peas taste like lipton instant rie. I was not please with this place at all.

This is a local spot nestled among a small strip of other Caribbean businesses like a convenience store, music store, beauty salon and a few others that share a parking lot across from Costco. It's a full service restaurant with a bar and they also do a lot of carry-out orders. The restaurant is pretty basic, clean and well kept, with a series of tables and chairs and a large television on the wall that allows for customers who are dining in to watch while they dine. From what I can gather, the bar area contains a variety of drink offerings. I've dined inside the restaurant and have ordered plenty of carry-out meals. The food is good - I'm giving it 3 out of 5 stars because, IMO, it's a bit over-priced and the food isn't always consistent. I love coco bread and there have been times when they've knocked it out of the park and it was soft & delicious, and there have been other times when it didn't taste fresh. The salad and rice & peas that accompany their entrees is just okay and could use some enhancement to make it more fresh and better tasting. Their salmon is decent and their jerk wings are pretty good. I've also had their meat patties and those are good as well. One thing they do consistently well are their plantains, they are always delicious. If you live nearby and are in the mood for some Caribbean food, you won't be disappointed - just realize that the quality of food isn't always consistently good so you'll have some great experiences and some "okay" experiences. If you do not live nearby, I wouldn't waste a trip.

So many people think that they know what authentic is well remember they think they know "I been to California Tortilla I had their jerked burrito now I'm an expert on Jamaican food," yeah right. When you want the real deal come here to this place. Not since I've been to Jamaica I've had food like this well almost. The first thing you notice is that it is located in a little neglected strip plaza off of Route 1 past UMCP other store fronts include another Caribbean store, a Vietnamese Pho place and a few other little places. Walk inside and you hear Soca music blairing from the speakers, very good and then you are greeted with a "Yeah mon ow kin I elp U?" that's a good sign too, next you hear other accented voices from the back definitely Jamaican. "Pu dat ovarl dare" some lady voice says from the kitchen. Excellent! Another most important good sign is customers coming in with Caribbean accents, "Is me food rrready yet?" I'm in the right place I'm feeling good now cause these are authentic Caribbean people in an authentic Caribbean place that frequents authentic Caribbeans, no doubt. So I ordered Curried King Fish with rice and peas, salad and fried plantains to go. While waiting for a loooong time I had a chance to talk to the man at the wheel. He come from New York by way of Jamaica and trying to get use to the area. Lots of news headline popped up on the TV in the small place and we talked about all the headlines. Very pleasant and a lot to say on a lot of subjects. Caribbeans always like to speak their minds in a very relaxed way. It took a little while for my order but that is expected any of you who actually been down to Jamaica will know they do things at their own pace. No hyper active ADD live by the stop watch like we do in the states. They go by their own pace the best things can't be rushed and in this case they made it right. The fish cooked perfect to a golden encrusted flaky slice of paradise. The rice and beans had the heat of the Caribbean without being over powering and the plantains fried to a delightful carmel colour perfection. The salad was like a cool Caribbean breeze on a warm day. The rest of the menu consist of dishes such as stewed oxtail, curried goat, jerk chicken, various seafood selections, roti and sides of calaloo, okra and rice and many others. Deserts are rum cake, tropical ice cream, pine tarts and other items. They have a fully loaded bar and can mix up a pineapple ginger drink with ease, lots of rum there. Prices are low to moderate the most expensive items being the steak at around $20 some seafood around $16 and mostly prices for everything else hover around $9.50. Some lunch items are jerk chicken sandwiches about $6 and roti meat or veg. around $7.50 Cool little place with great food, sort of hole in the wall but any other way would not be right. Gotta love these types of places. Yeah mon!
