Love this place! The sushi rolls are delicious. I love the Shrimp Shumai Soup and its only a couple of bucks!! To add to it the atmosphere is relaxing and comfortable.

Great Sushi and Thai food. Sushi is always fresh and the owners are always friendly. This is a great local Sushi place. Also, don't forget to try their Thai dishes and finish off the night with an order of Mango Sticky rice for dessert.

Since food is More important I gave this place 4. had the TNT roll which was delicious. The white fish on top was perfect. service...not really. They seat you forcefully. Make sushi and that's it. Barely any words were exchanged.

This place makes the best sushi around. Wegmans sushi is just nothing compared to these. Great selection and what is very important very fresh. Rice is always soft and soft shell crabs are still warm inside the sushi. We love it. Prices went up a bit , otherwise they are doing just outstanding job.

This place is a hidden treasure in Bel Air. The shrimp fried rice is OUTSTANDING and the sushi is excellent. This restaurant serves beer also. It is family owned and operated and the family members are always friendly and they are the nicest people.

I love this place! It is always very clean and the prices are very affordable. The food quality is great and I love the authentic Japanese dishes here. The owner is super friendly and accommodating.

I like the atmosphere. It's usually not crowded and the service is always great and pretty fast. The food is pretty good. It's not the best sushi I ever had, but it's decent. Nice for a quiet meal if you don't want to go to the other crowded sushi places.

I'm a sushi snob so I might be a bit harsh... The sushi was not flavorful... and the CA rolls were very bland. It didn't taste like they seasoned the rice... The sashimi was okay except that the fish was still frozen in the middle... Most places get their fish frozen, so that is not the problem but it should be thawed out before serving since it ruins the taste. The restaurant was very empty even during lunch hour which is not a good sign... I haven't found a good sushi restaurant in Harford County and probably never will...

This place has pretty decent sushi. The best I have found in Bel Air so far. Their Spicy Tune is awesome and the California roll is pretty good too. I definitely recommend this place. Also, I don't claim to be a "Sushi Snob" and wouldn't if what I was critiquing was a California Roll. ROFL.

This sushi place isn't special, but it's one of the few decent sushi options in Harford County in my experience. The tuna tartare was probably the highlight of my dinner this past weekend. The sauce was delicious. The sushi is pretty average. The fish isn't very flavorful. However it's also not bad. It's bland, but doesn't have that horrible fishy taste that bad sushi has. IMO they use a bit too much rice as well. The tuna and salmon avocado rolls were perfectly acceptable. I did like the sauce on the Maui Roll, but again, it was heavy on rice. If I really needed sushi in the Bel Air area, I'd probably return, but for sushi that is closer to awesome, I think you'll need to head into Baltimore.

Rolls are so tiny! Definitely the smallest sushi pieces I have seen. There is barely enough rice to cover the nori. The sushi is average quality. The only one I thoroughly enjoyed was the shiitake roll. However, I did once order a bento box for lunch which included rice, chicken teriyaki, sushi, and a salad for 7 bucks. That was decent so maybe Zen 16's main attraction isn't their sushi. The service here is spotty if you aren't sitting right near the bar. There are better sushi/Japanese restaurants in Bel Air and certainly near Baltimore.

Good sushi, best I've had in the Bel Air area and I believe I've tried them all. Always clean and service is quick and effecient. Our go-to place when in the mood for sushi, it also has the best prices for sushi that we've found.

I don't understand why this place has so-so reviews. My husband and I go here all the time. It is definitely the best sushi in Harford County. Their fish always tastes fresh and their volcano roll is yummy! Service is always good. Hubby gets sushi in Baltimore often and still this is his favorite. We have probably tried over 20 different sushi places in Maryland and different states, and this is still our favorite.

Like another reviewer I might also be a sushi snob. I have ordered sushi take out twice from here out of convenience. It wasn't memorable the first time and after the second time I realized it is so so. I did not realize the sushi was frozen until a read an earlier review. That might partly explain the bland taste. I have eaten sushi in many cities from San Diego to Chicago, Atlanta, and now Baltimore (or should I also say Harford County). I might have been spoiled in these other locations but in comparison the sushi here was mediocre at best. I did want to like it because it was my first sushi restaurant out here. I guess that is why I went back a second time to give it another chance.

note to Tanya C- you are not a 'sushi snob' if you are ordering california rolls. as someone who has lived in japan for 2 years, i know that zen 16 offers fresh fish, interesting rolls, and beautiful presentations. kevin is amazing, and if you tell him what you like, he'll create something for you on the spot. highly recommend.
