Hubby and I went into the Wayback for what we were hoping would be a decent light lunch with better burgers than we'd get going through a local fast food drive-through. We shouldn't have bothered. Everything was lackluster at best. Hubby ordered a straightforward burger with cheese; I got a veggie burger, along with a drink and order of fries. The service was slow, dining room sloppy and loud (lots of screaming kids and food left on floor.) What we thought was a pretty straightforward order took almost a half hour to fill, and cost us close to 20 bucks before tip. Though we've had worse, it's been a long time. Next time, we'll go elsewhere.

Service was excellent.Dining area is cramped. The food was good, but I prefer Z burger or Five Guys.

i decided to give them a try and wow was i disappointed. Every single item in my order had a few things wrong. My milkshake was basically vanilla milk. it was completely melted. the quality of meat was subpar. it had the texture of overcooked frostbitten meat and was pretty flavorless. the fries were pretty much frozen grocery store quality. with five guys so close there is no reason to come here.

2 stars is being generous here. We went right after they opened, the place was packed, seating is bare minimal and the staff was a bit slow for the fact there weren't a lot of people to wait on. We ordered a burger, chicken fingers and a chili dog... our total for that with two shakes, a soda [two of the sodas were out on the fountain, not good when you just opened] and fries with everything..was almost 30 dollars. Sonic would have been a better choice. The only food I can compliment on was the one I ate, the chili dog and fries. A small hot dog split down the middle, grilled until it was tough to chew, served with the driest chili and bare minimal cheese, given to me on a so tough I couldn't really chew it and choke it down roll. I ate a little more than half of it before I gave up and settled for my fries which were actually decent. In short..go down the street and stop at Sonic. I won't be eating here again.

I placed an online order this evening. Nearly everything I ordered was incorrect. Toppings added that I didn't order and toppings missing that I did. The quality wasn't good. Also, I should have gotten my milkshake half off since they have a deal on Mondays but I had to ask them to give me the deal. This is the original message that I received from the owner a month after I posted the above review... "Sharon, I spoke with you about this issue when you called the store the next day. I offered you free food to make up for your experience. It would have been nice if you had mentioned that while you bashed my restaurant and food and then you had "Patrick" also bash us on the same day. Do you have any idea how hard people work and how hard we work to provide good service and food??? Mistakes happen ....regardless of where you go... I would not have expected this response nor would I have ever written one considering I bend over backwards to make it right and then offered you free food...you should not have the right to publicly attempt to ruin my business. As for the Monday deal...the instore specials are not valid with online ordering and neither are the coupons we put out....it is not my rule...its the online company who handles our account." It appears that it was taken down & replaced with something a little nicer. I shouldn't have the right to publicly voice my opinions?!? Yelp is here for exactly that purpose!!! I had a bad experience, I posted it and I called the next day to voice my concerns with management. I'm sorry that I didn't edit my original post to say that I was offered free food... Even if it's free I wouldn't eat it!!!

Came in for burgers & fries with my husband. When we got our burgers the meat was broken into many pieces. My husband's burger was missing lettuce and tomatoes even though it was on listed on the receipt. Fries were good. Overall OK. Will go if too lazy to go to 5 guys.

We have been to Jakes quite a few times since it opened. The burgers are tasty and fries are always consistently crispy. Also the homemade potato chips are good. My son enjoys their cheese fries. There are vegetarian options for those who do not want meat. The place is always clean but sometimes a bit crowded. However service is usually quick and the place clears out fast. The manager and his wife are pleasant and they have specials throughout the week. I have only tried one shake and it was good but I prefer mine to be thicker. This is a great place for a fresh tasting burger without the hassle of driving to the mall area especially on a Friday evening.

Jake's is a "not bad" place to get a burger. If we're in the area and hungry, we'll stop in. Of course, if we're further up route 24 closer to Harford Mall, 5 Guys it is. Our burgers here were absolutely huge, but still delicious. My spouse tried the fries and found them to be bland compared to 5 Guys fries. The fries here also had a potent flavoring of peanut oil. I tried the onion rings.. I'm not really a fan of raw onions, but the onion rings here were really great! Jake's is a lot more expensive than one would think a fast food burger joint would be. And, i was supposed to get a dipping sauce with my onion rings, which did not materialize, so that was pretty annoying. We will most likely come back if we're in the area and looking for a burger.

When they first opened they were a nice alternative to Five Guys, but since then, the frequent minor issues of getting the wrong order or having friends/family mistreated by staff have reached the point that the upside of the food and location can no longer warrant a recommendation.

I was craving bleu cheese crumbles on a burger and I didn't want to go to the same ol'standbys so my boyfriend said he drives by this place everyday on his way from work....well lets go! I am in love with any place that welcomes me at the door! *instant smile on my face*. We get to the counter and there is a limited menu but you can order any combination you want which expands the menu a bit. The server was very patient since this was our first time- we ordered our food and I requested onion rings fried and they perfected them! They were nice and crispy always throw and wasn't soggy *5 stars. The burger wasn't greasy and seasoned to perfection, the bun was fresh and light. My boyfriend ordered a double turkey burger with fried onions with patty melt bread it and he's to give it a 5 star he also ordered cheesy fries which he said was good. Excellent customer service, I would come back just for the customer service and the bathroom was clean...which is a big plus for me.

Over $40 for 2 adult meals and a kids meal - i have zero problem paying for good food but the food here is so so at best. 5guys is up the road, go there they blow this place away. I got a burger with onion rings (6 yes thats six) and a shake - son got same thing ans daughter got a kids meal. Even if the burgers were $10ea plus sides plus drink it shoildnt have been this much 110% waste of time and money. The burgers were ok, the shakes soso amd the onion rings mediocre.... overpirced for underperformance. Never again

Can't complain the food was great. Made fresh to order. It is a little pricey but the quality of the food and sides were worth it. The onion rings were delicious. It's clean inside and the staff was super friendly. This kid that waited on me was so funny and sweet!

Well if you crave for a good home style then this is the place. Cooked to order with fresh ground beef. Not to thick and not to small. Buns are incredible. The are huge portions. If your eating alone DO NOT get the large. Small is plenty.

Not even close to being worth the price they place on things. Service at this location was horribly slow for over priced and overrated food.

Absolutely horrible!!! I've been here 3 times and 2 of the 3 times were utterly ridiculous. Once my food was left under the heat lamp for 30 mins while we were waiting for it, and the other time I was given someone else's food. A bunch of unmotivated children working there & running the place. Avoid this dump and go to Five Guys!!!

I went last week when the hubby and I were on a lunch break. First thing we noticed were how expensive the burgers are. Though it was more than I would spend at a fast food place, we figured we would give it a chance. So happy that we did bc my goodness the burgers were tasty! The place was empty when we arrived and clean. I did like how they have specials everyday. I ordered a burger with a milk shake. The shake wasn't anything special and didn't finish it all. The burgers though were well worth our 20 minute wait. The sour dough bread was very good on our burgers. Will come back for more business but probably not with our family bc of the price

When we first started going the food and service was awesome,it fell off so bad. Service is unfriendly, and the food is nothig like it use to be. We were going several times a week, haven't been back in months. Not worth the price

Finally a good burger place in Belair. Quick and friendly service and you have to try the milkshakes too!
(5)Randy J.
The burgers were real and thats good. I had to order a double since the burgers are about 4oz. each. I really can't complain and give them at- a- boys for the quick service.

We had actually intended on going to Chipotle, but with the line out the door, we decided to try Jake's. It didn't take long to get our food, and the staff brought over a coloring page and crayons for my toddler without being asked, which is a major plus. We really enjoyed the food! My daughter loved the grilled cheese on a bun, but she's easy to please. However, when 2 burgers, a kids meal and a milkshake cost almost $30, that's when we have a problem. We even skipped on the fries because the add-on cost is a bit excessive. We LOVE Five Guys, but this place is in a great location, and I'd definitely eat here again.

For what it's worth, the veggie burger here is one of the best anywhere, in my opinion - not spicy, not weird-tasting. The restaurant is clean and cute, fun 50s style atmosphere, and a great "healthy"-ish fast food option at Festival. Definitely better than the diarrhea-inducing Chipotle across the way.

I have to agree with what someone else said, it is a less greasy version of Five Guys. The food has always been consistently good here, but the service leaves something to be desired. I think it may have something to do with it being such a young staff, which is typical of these types of places. The staff acts annoyed when you order your food, as though you are interrupting their socializing time. There was also a time where there was a mix up with our order, and you could hear the staff talking about us, which I thought was rude and unprofessional. The worst part is the owner was part of that conversation. I will probably still go here, just not as often, and strictly do carry-out, so my contact with the staff is minimal.
