LOVE the international menu, you can go with a group and everyone can get exactly what they want, whether Indian or Texmex or just a sandwich or burger. I'm happy they have booze now because we went when it was still BYOB, and having a bar just makes it that much better. And the bakery (which is separate, you have to exit the restaurant to go in) - we've had several items including the peanut butte chocolate cake and OMG NOM NOMZ. You'd never know it was vegan it was so delicious.

A friend of mine is a huge fan of Sweet 27, knows the owner, and they just had to share it with us. I was a bit skeptical, especially because it was a gluten-free menu, and I kinda like glutens! I didn't know what to expect, and I was blown away. I had no idea that ANY of the food was gluten free! We got chickpea coated chicken wings (spicy, just a little weird) and veggie fritters (almost like samosa cakes) compliments of the owner, and each was a spot on starter. Chicken juicy and crispy, veggie fritters well-seasoned and flavorful. For an entree, I had a duck curry with a salad and rice, and my wife ordered shrimp and grits. Duck curry was a first for me, thick and spicy sauce, with that all-dark so delicious duck meat. Shrimp and grits, popping shrimp over creamy grits with a pretty killer sauce. Both top quality, fine dining but still comfort food dishes that would stack u against any comparable establishment. To close, we shared desserts from the bakery, a caramel-pecan tart and a peanut-butter chocolate square, all flour-less, all packed with richness. The even gave us some gluten-free cupcakes to go, compliments of the owner again, and better than most other cupcakes. They serve beer, and some local choices (I had Duckpin), and overall it was a great meal, cool environment, and a sweet Baltimore-royalty mural on the upper dining room wall. Great job Sweet 27!

I believe in the old saying if you don't have something nice to say don't say anything at all. Unfortunately I don't practice what I preach because I have very few nice things to say about Sweet Bar 27. I'll start with the good, service was nice, the bartender Chris was friendly, fun and interesting, he was without a doubt the best part of my entire experience, sadly I don't have much else good to say. The food is just not very good at all. The spinach empanadas are dry, I don't know how they are prepared but they honestly taste like they come from the frozen food section of the local supermarket. I also have the mango BBQ wings, these were utterly tasteless, the wings might as well have been covered in water because I did not taste anything, not even a hint of mango or BBQ sauce. I will give the fish tacos a little credit, at least they had a little kick as far as spicy index but the flavor once again left a lot to be desired. I'm not sure who the cook is but I don't believe he/she has any taste buds because the food was all around bland. They have happy hour everyday and Chris was nice so perhaps go to watch a game or have a drink but don't bother with the food, you'll only be disappointed.

This was the second time I came here with my gluten free friend. First - breakfast second - lunch/dinner. First, they give you a lot. And I always have leftovers which is great. I think the price is justified. So my meal experience (lunch/dinner), we got a veggie pizza and mango barbeque chicken. The mango bbq is very sweet, but not too sweet in a way that you can't eat it. Veggie pizza is surprisingly good! (The whole place is gluten free) The rice was a bit dry but it was okay. Garlic Mashed potato was really good I recommend it as a side! So desserts: they have a lot of dessert selection. I love their cupcakes, I've tried their carrot, red velvet, coconut, and chocolate peanut butter, all above my expectation. I am impressed by their international selection, next time I come im trying the duck taco!

Dropped for a quick lunch after a movie at Single Carrot (maryland film festival). Had the pork vindaloo and it true to great reviews. My taste buds are jumping jacks - it is crazy delicious! Hosts were friendly and very easy going. Love the ambiance. One my fav spot in Baltimore.

My second time visiting Meet 27, my first time since they became BYOB. The food is immaculate. I love that they have a bunch of vegetarian options BUT they also have a bunch of meat eater fare as well. I wouldn't really call their food "american" b/c there's not a ton of generic "american" options but lots of indian/pakistani food options. I started with the Batata Vada which is potatoes in chickpea tempura w/ tamarind and mint sauces (very indian restaurant style and very delicious), not greasy, fried just enough, very tasty. i followed w goat curry (oh the flavor!), spicy, tender, culinary satiety. the sides were also fantastic. i had spicy kale and plantains/black beans/salsa....surprisingly spicy and collard green like...cut small enough to be palatable. the plantains are amazing. sweet and then the beans w/ it, tangy onions, and tomatoes from the salsa. so they don't have any adult beverages? well, to be honest I initially turned and walked out the door the first time I attempted to eat here again and I wanted a drink w/ dinner after a hard day. But now having been there again, the food is worth it. Even if you forget to bring your own beverage, it's worth it (although this time, I brought mine w/ me :))

I've been here a couple of more times now...they are ok/good... I've noticed some wrinkles tho... some stuff on the menu is fabulous but the gluten free bread is not good. it gets really noisy and more than 1 table is wobbly (which is crazy because it's something they can easily fix) that both times we were there we had to move to multiple tables. they get testy/short with you if you ask for extra stuff (I didnt originally want bread with my mussels but changed my mind after I got the entree) or ask permission to move tables if they are busy. not too many servers. happy hour is good tho...drinks are half price and starts at 4:30pm when it's not too crowded or noisy. I have a friend with celiacs and this is one of the few places she can eat at so that's a plus.

Sweet 27 or Meet 27 or 27, the name keeps changing so much that i loose track of what they call themselves. Its opposite my home so i go there every now and then to grab some wine and some grub, its a cool place, the food has a lot of Indian Infused flavors.. Its a solid enough place to go to every now and then.

They now serve alcohol, so this is no longer BYOB. The food is a great mix of Carribean and south Asian flavors and dishes. The veggie fritters are packed with bean, cauliflower, and curry spices and make a great starter. The pork vindaloo has to be their signature dish, though. It will absolutely leave you with sweat on your brow, but it remains flavorful while packing a wallop of spice. The portion is also generous. The wine list offers reasonably priced offerings, making Sweet 27 a great value.

To be frank, there aren't many venues in Baltimore I haven't tried, so when I was invited to share in a friend's birthday celebration here--a place I hadn't even heard about, I was a little skeptical. However, I really enjoyed it. The menu has a great variety of entrees, from Indian, Mexican, and several other cuisines, and also has some good vegetarian options. I thought everything was tasty and the portions were decent. This is a nice place for groups and the service was good. I think they should have comped the birthday cake slice for our friend, but that's more a business decision than a comment on the actual food. Overall, it was a nice place with great food and menu choices, and good service so I'd definitely return.

**Update** Went by here on Easter Sunday for their all-you-can-eat brunch and it was STELLAR! The food varieties were amazing and everything was completely delicious. The $18 price was well-worth it and I was beyond full when I left. And the bar was fully loaded. We ordered Mimosas and the bartender made up Blood Orange Mimosas which were delish! Everyone was so friendly and very attentive to our needs. Initially, we had to ask how the process worked as we were sat at our seats and not advised on where to get plates, etc. The tiramisu cake was TO DIE FOR!! OMG! I HAVE to make a trip back just for the gluten-free Tiramisu cake. Sweet Jesus! I love, love, love this place because the entire kitchen is gluten-free, and the staff is very knowledgeable as far as common allergens such as peanuts, soy, dairy and gluten. New rating: 5 Stars

I haven't been into Sweet 27 in about 6 months, due to the abysmal attitude of the man who I assume is the owner of this place. I went in with some friends and ordered the vegan tacos. We all sat down at a table, when my friend pointed out that a guy was behind the counter, talking to another worker. He was pointing and laughing at us, making rude comments. My friend became so upset and uncomfortable, he canceled his order and walked home. I stayed with my 3 other friends and ate my food, but I was very uncomfortable. So, what's the deal with this guy? I've seen numerous complaints about people who work at this spot on Yelp. Why would you make fun of people who are sitting in your restaurant, and are paying to keep you in business? It's really a shame that this guy is such so insecure and such a bad business owner - I am vegan and live not too far from this place. I would love to come in and buy the cupcakes. But I won't support someone harassing myself and my friends. Skip this place and go around the corner to another business - one who doesn't have such a rude and embarrassing staff.

This spot has something on the menu for EVERY one. Even my 1 year old inhaled their kale side! Great portion sizes & spot on meal preparation/presentation. Even better, a wonderful dessert spot with just as many diet conscious options is right next door. We've found a new family fave!

I'm always looking for great vegetarian restaurants that don't skimp on the flavor! This doesn't disappoint- I had the vegetarian enchiladas with mole. Delicious and impeccable service.

This place is terrific. Got an amazing ginger cucumber mint cocktail invention, some killer sweet potato fries, fritters, lamb burgers and more. Lemon dessert was perfect, good beers on tap, and friendly, interesting people nearby at the bar. Richard made us feel like family. I'll definitely be back again!

Muchos potential, poco execution. Crab Cake App - Delicious polenta-y crabcake in a coconut curry sauce. Light on crabmeat, but heavy on flavor. Chili Chicken - Have to say, this tasted like a slightly classier version than your chinese carryout. The polenta in it was amorphous, but would have been good if it stayed together. It just got mixed in with all the sauce. Vindaloo pork - came SWIMMING in a crock of oil. Was inedible there - took it home, heated and had to strain twice before I could recombine it with my rice and veggies. Service and BYOB policy - Both good. REALLY hope this place gets its polish - a lot of growing room, here.

I have definitely noticed an improvement in the service. I also appreciate that they've added some new menu items. Other guests and I have noticed, however, that the quality and portion of the food has gone down, even though prices have [slightly] increased. The sweet potato fries are still as addictive as ever!!!

I have had gluten-free cupcakes from their bakery and carry out for dinner before this visit They had happy hour and a special at the bar but we opted to eat at a table. There were 4 of us. My friend and I both ordered a Angry Orchard. The server came with the drinks saying there was only one AO left. Later we saw them pulling a case out of the side storage area. So it was mismanagement of the product up front. Not the end of the world. I ordered the crab cake sandwich. It was average. The slightly spicy sauce was very good and that bumped up my rating. The best part was definitely the sweet potato fries!!! Crispy and delicious!! A must for any future order. Service was slow. There was a bartender and it seemed like only one server for the tables. They could have used more help. There was a wait for food but the server came and apologized. I'll give it another shot. It was nice to have so many vegetarian and GF options on one menu.

A vegetarian who doesn't like pasta and a recently gluten free omnivore walk into a restaurant with a bottle of wine. Where would such a situation happen where both parties have multiple dining options and walk out full and happy? Meet 27! My score for combined food and venue is probably 3.5, but I'm rounding up because of the AMAZING service Meet 27 provides to people with food allergies / sensitivities/ limitations and those who love them. So many choices, and no snottiness about what people need. You have no idea how many "hot" restaurants I hear about on yelp that have 1 sad pasta dish as their excuse for a vegetarian entree, if they even go that far. We both got house salads, which were pretty good, nothing to go crazy over. I got a burger, which was good, if a little dry, but it was a treat to have a good gluten free bun at a restaurant, and the fries were amazing! They're battered in chickpea flour and so, so awesome. My dining partner got a vegetable mole burrito, which he really enjoyed. We split a delicious slice of carrot cake for dessert. And, as I mentioned earlier, Meet 27 is BYOB, which was nice. There is a lot of potential here, the vibe is friendly and casual, but the space is a little awkward. There's a beautiful bar, which is going unused and taking up half the room. If the liquor license situation isn't going to be resolved, they should re-appropriate the space somehow. The area is kind of split level, which contributes to the sense of empty space. There are some sweet Baltimore themed murals on the wall.

I went for a friend's birthday, and it was just for drinks, so I cannot comment on the food. But the bartender (who I'm assuming was the manager or owner) was one of the rudest men I have ever met. I ordered a drink and had to wait about 15 minutes before anyone even came over to take my order again. This was all while I saw him pour the same beer I ordered, for three different people. After that, my friend asked for his tab, and was given the wrong one. When he alerted the bartender, he immediately walked away without even getting my friend's name for the tab. As he walked away my friend said "yo, yo, yo! You don't know my name!". The bartender then came over and said "this isn't the hood, what is this yo, yo, yo! Am I going the have to call the cops?" My friend then replied "sir it's just a word, no need to get angry." The bartender proceeded to yell at him and threaten to call the cops. I then looked at him and said "sir I think you should be a little nicer to your customers." Then he looked right at me and said "FUCK YOU!". I quickly finished my beer and left. Needless to say, I will not be coming back to this establishment and I will never suggest it to anyone else.

I have celiac and need to eat gluten-free. Food was in the okay to good range. Wanted to love it since they are 100% gf. Would try them again, but since they aren't in the best part of Baltimore it hasn't happened. (same review left on findmeglutenfree)

The service is beyond horrible here. They were way understaffed on a Sat evening and could NOT get our order right to save their life!! It was really frustrating. The crab cake however was amazing- presentation was good- prices were a little steep- but overall a lot of room for improvement if they get rid of their snooty lazy unfriendly staff. Bring your own beer- they bring you a bucket of ice to keep it in...

We are big fans of Sweet Sin's and are very supportive of the owners' latest venture. We want to love love love it. PROS: Nice large dining area. Smart casual vibe. Engaged and attentive service. Some good dishes: the grilled veggie plate, the grilled salmon fish of the day, the cran-orange lemonade (no free refills-$4 a pop), and the sweet potato chips that came with the salmon tartare. CONS: I likely ordered the wrong thing. Still, the kitchen needs to take some responsibility - the peppercorn beef was uninspired beyond the delicious mushrooms (too far from the chef's Indian and Mexican strengths as well as a not using a superb piece of beef to start with and uninspired mashed potatoes), the chicken satay (unlike next door, here the chicken was a bit dry), and the salmon tartare (not bad tasting but can-shaped presentation hurt as did the lack of wow in the taste - needs more citrus?). Comparisons with Sweet Sin are inevitable. Unfortunately the menu here isn't quite as solid even though a lot of the chef's talent does shine through on some things. Nice to see all the effort put in to the dining room's appearance. However, at the end of the day when the (significantly sized) check arrives, you may be left with a pang of regret that you hadn't gone next door to eat instead. As far as value and overall taste, the original hole in the wall Sweet Sin beats its younger and more polished sibling. Hands down.

I love that Baltimore has a dedicated gluten-free restaurant! Add in the fact that they cater to vegetarians and vegans as well and you can understand why I'd been itching to try out Meet 27 for months. Be forewarned; the signage for the restaurant is incredibly confusing. They're located on the corner of Howard and 27th and in front of the building they have a giant hanging sign that says "Sweet 27" as well as a standing board that advertises the bakery. I know that Sweet 27, located around the corner on 27th, is owned by the same person so I can understand wanting to co-brand but it makes it really hard to give directions to folks who aren't familiar with the area. Okay, now that I have that off my chest I can get to the good part: Meet 27 is amazing! The menu is eclectic but as a vegan it's nice to have a variety of options to choose from. The Batata Vada appetizer was good but nothing to write home about (how special can fried mashed potatoes be?). The Chili Paneer, however, was absolutely perfect. Seriously, I'm drooling just thinking about it. The sauce was perfectly seasoned, incredibly satisfying, and so filling that I got 3 meals out of it. The tofu had a wonderful meaty texture and I didn't miss the cheese at all. Plus it's interspersed with pieces of battered and fried broccoli and cauliflower, an unexpected but welcome addition. I have no idea what they put in the batter for those little nuggets of pure joy but whatever it is, it's seriously addictive. My dining buddy, Rich L, got the Pork Vindaloo and you should be warned that it's SPICY. It was pretty hilarious to watch him grow increasingly sweaty but he refused to stop eating because apparently it was good enough to suffer through the pain. I take that as a high compliment to the chef. The only misstep of the night was the vegan chocolate mousse. There were too many competing flavors going on and the base (which I'm assuming was silken tofu) left a strange aftertaste. I would definitely skip it next time. The ambiance is a little bit weird since when you walk in you're greeted by a large, beautiful, and completely empty bar. But the space is quiet and a little bit dark and classy and I'd be equally happy to go here on a hot date or with my mom who has a gluten allergy. I'll definitely find an excuse to go again soon.

We were so excited to try this place. It's closed on Monday - which we found out when we went there on Monday - so yeah, don't do that. Second time around it was open. No reservation is needed (ta-dow). We showed up, I got a cranberry lemonade and we ordered the Vata Batada (did I say that right?) appetizer. The lemonade tasted really great but it was also warm - even with ice in it - meaning, it's been sitting out somewhere in their kitchen and isn't in a fridge. Maybe? The appetizer showed up and was basically 7 nugget looking things that you can tell are basically round samosas. A very, very small little teensy amount of food for $7. This is not usually something I complain about, but dude. $7. "Oh God," I said to my boyfriend. "What if we're about to spend $50 on this dinner and I don't like my food." But then I was like NAWWWW because that's happened to me maybe 3 times in my life. I'm 33, so averaging every 11 years or so, right? Plus, I thought, I love me some Indian food and it's hard to screw up chili paneer. Okay, so in the interest of full disclosure, I hate what passes as most Chinese food and for some reason stir fry is not my thing. The paneer dish that they serve out is supposed to be something or other on a bed of something, but it's not really anything but an overcomplicated stir fry. Seriously. And the barbecue sauce in the paneer dish doesn't work. Also, curry-izing southwestern mole enchiladas doesn't work. So it's not your standard fare paneer, Be warned. The bf gave me the serious "you're a picky picky princess" side eye and we took everything home. He ate it all. He liked it. But for me, we stopped at One World on the way home. I'm not the type to send a dish back I don't like. It was probably perfectly acceptable to somebody else, but just not my thing. I believe I could find something there that I might like. But honestly man, a $50+ experiment is not worth a second round.

Great food. I had the trout which was remarkable. They place is BYOB though, which we didn't realize, and there aren't any liquor stores within walking distance. We were told they were trying for an alcohol license but didn't know when that would pan out. Also, the tables appear to be handmade--a nice touch, but they weren't the most comfortable for eating. There isn't a lot of legroom for the taller folk. Plus--they don't have Heinz ketchup. I get it, they make their own ketchup which I is great. I appreciate the effort that takes--but sometimes you just want the standard old standby ketchup with fries. Cool wall art--but the place could use some sound absorbing rugs or something to help control the noise level when it gets busy.

Liked everything about our night here. We were waiting for a concert at the Ottobar next door and came in to split an app and an entree. The owner and his wife were so sweet, the vibe was eclectic and the food was excellent. We got a veggie app and the dipping sauces were amazing. The salmon entree was plated like a work of art and cooked perfectly. Not to mention a great portion size as well. Service was great and will definitely come back.

This place is a cool place that I would love to like a lot more than I actually do. Their menu is interesting, but it's small and all over the place. They'll have something that's almost completely Indian but they change it in a strange way like Pork Vindaloo. Or pork in anything remotely Indian. They also have good burgers but not one that's just a plain old hamburger or cheeseburger and none of them are interesting enough that I really want one over a regular but really good hamburger. They're trying to get adventurous and unique with the cuisine but they're not taking it far enough to really stand out or make sense. They almost hit that point and then dial it back. They're also doing the thing I notice a lot of newer restaurants doing, which is changing a lot of things that really don't need changing in an effort to be memorable. Their food also just doesn't sit well in my stomach but that probably has more to do with me than them. That said, I like that they're BYOB and that they're fine with anything from fancy pants wine to a bunch of Natty Boh cans in a wet backpack. The service is also nice and the food is always well prepared. Their pakoras are awesome. Get them. Doooo it.

My cousin warned me service was horrible but I have celiac disease and was excited about the menu. I called a week in advance to make a reservation as I was in town for a short period of time and planning a big dinner to see friends and family. When we got there, the weight staff would not allow us to sit down until our full party arrived. We knew that would be difficult for the elderly and young people in our large party. Then the owner came out and began yelling at us stating that he would not change his policy and kicked us out of the restaurant. I have never been treated so badly by anyone in a service position. I would never go back and I would not recommend that anyone else support this kind of customer abuse.

I wanted to love this place, I reallly reallly did. I did not hate it but it is A-OK. Service: Yes, service is slow. They are friendly and though I think my minds eye demanded a fancier venue...that was not the case when we got there. The paintings on the wall, I came to learn, are painted by students from nearby universities. Kinda neat! Menu: I love their menu. I like that it has something for everyone and can easily be vegan or vegetarian. We had: Batata Vada-Potato fritters surrounded in chickpea tempura served with tamarind and mint sauces 7.00--Yes this is an Indian dish, and there is no twist to it. $7.00 is also unreasonable to charge for this. I can make my peace with 5.00. Pan Seared Salmon Pan seared marinated Salmon served on a bed of caramelized plantains and vegetables of the day, topped with our own cranberry and pomegranate dressing 18--So uh the plantains are delicious and they gave you kale, beets, beans...I mean you did not miss out on your veggies which made me very very happy! The Salmon was huge and I couldn't even make a dent in it. delicious! It was also perfectly cooked. So why the 3 stars? My husband for the pork special. The seasoning on the salmon was the SAME as the pork. See the pork also was cooked perfectly BUT if i am paying you 19+ dollars I expect something different. So it's not to say that the food was not good, but it was not great. I would advise them to get more staff, brighten up the place, and liven up their food. Tip:BYOB

The food at Meet 27 was excellent and you didn't even notice the gluten free spin on things. I ordered the pork chop and it was unreal; it had a nice citrus flavor to it that I would have never thought of pairing with a pork chop. It's BYOB as of March 2013 so make sure you pack some drinks. Everyone had a good meal and I look forward to going back. It's a little pricey but well worth it.

Came here for a birthday bash and there were a lot of various appetizers we tried (so we didn't sit down and order a meal for what' it's worth). It has a bar area where we ate their vegetable fritters (a little dry), their chicken skewers (it had a nice marinade to it), french fries (very oily), hummus (which was good, has olives pureed in with it so seemed like a more smooth olive tapenade to me, but I liked how it wasn't totally smooth but thick and fresh). My friend loves this place though because it's all vegan!

Came here on a quiet Tuesday evening with a friend and we had a very nice meal. I'm looking forward to stopping back and trying more menu options. We started with the batata vada ($7). They were some scrumptious little potato fritters. Accompanying sauces, one spicy mint and one sweet tamarind, kept them from being a little dry and added some nice kick. For my meal, I got the vada pao burger ($11). It was a vegetarian meal; the burger was a potato croquette. The patty fell apart a bit, but it was tasty and surprisingly moist. The same 2 sauces from the batata vada were on the burger and they were, once again, a treat. The "bun" was great-- they were two soft pieces of focaccia. I got sweet potato fries on the side. They were cooked in a chickpea batter, giving it a tempura like coating. They came with two sauces as well, a mango ketchup and chipotle mayo. These were just fine, but nothing special. I was absolutely stuffed after finishing my dish, which I was not expecting from an $11 veggie meal, but I'm not complaining! My friend got the New York Strip ($22). It was cooked very nicely (med-rare was requested). Tender and plenty of pink. There was a bit too much bleu cheese covering the steak which I think masked the tasty steak flavor. The veggies, a large portion of broccoli and spinach, were very good. They were strongly salted and peppered, but not overly so. Mashed potatoes were pretty good too. Service was very quick. but there were only a few other groups eating there. The restaurant had a nice mood, though it was a little dark in there. There was a fun variety of music, including some 80s hits and more recent indie tunes. Meet 27 is a BYOB joint, which I love. However, they are working on getting a liquor license in the next few months. With tasty food, decent prices, and a nice atmosphere, Meet 27 is a winner in my book. I wasn't blown away, but maybe my next visit will push it over the edge into 5 star territory!

Even though my brother and his wife don't go out to eat often, they still manage to get here at least once a month. So when my parents and I came to visit, this was our first stop. We began our meal with an appetizer share of the hummus plate, replete with house-made olive-garlic hummus and fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, and olives, the vegetable fritters, and the batata vada, or chickpea tempura potato fritters served with tamarind and mint sauces. Everything was delicious- wonderfully seasoned, and cooked to perfection. As entrees my father and my brother both ordered the Vindaloo pork that, according to my taste buds, could have been spicier. My mother and I split the pan grilled duck breast. In my opinion, there was too much duck, and too few greens, but it was nonetheless tasty. And my sister-in-law had the pan seared salmon, and she thought that it was excellently prepared. We finished our meal with a dessert share of the black forest cake and the tiramisu, both house-made, both gluten-free, and both great! If I had to choose a favorite though, it would be the black forest cake. BYOB, their fantastic food selection can be paired with a beverage of your choice, which I love; however, I look forward to the day when a full-bar accompanies an already amazing establishment!

Overall, a very good dining experience! The place is BYOB, which I loved - nothing like knowing I spent $10 on a great bottle of wine that would have cost $30 if purchased at a restaurant! We ordered the hummus as an appetizer - be warned, it was spicy! But very good. It came with huge slices of cucumber and olives, but we could have used some bread or tortilla chips to scoop up the extra hummus when the cucumbers were all gone (of course we ended up just scooping it up with our forks!). Everyone in my party loved their entrees! Here's what we got: Vindaloo Pork (Dad said it was SPICY) Moroccan Chicken Kabab (Mom ordered it mild - she can't do spicy - and they graciously accommodated her order) Vegan Enchilada Mole (mole sauce was delicious - spicy and sweet) Veggie Platter - this was mine, and it was an ENORMOUS platter of empanadas, rice, steamed veggies, stuffed peppers, and babaganoush AWESOMENESS. Needless to say, I was stuffed, but decided I'd force room for dessert. But alas, NO VEGAN DESSERTS!! I suppose it was a blessing in disguise, as my family would have had to roll me out the door. Anyway, my non-vegan parents ordered the carrot cake (just OK) and the german chocolate came (two-thumbs up). Just a few more notes: The place was dead at 7:00 on a Friday night. It picked up a bit more as the night progressed, but man, they need some business! The service was fine - we got what we needed, when we needed it. Go visit Meet 27!

I found this place early August. I walked in and it was amazing that this little gem exists, it's hard to tell from the outside. I will say, that this part is not their fault. They did a great job working with the exterior constraints. And the place is really nice inside. The food was excellent. Here is my gripe. They were doing a special that was an excellent deal. It was $15. The only issue was that it was a "cash only" deal. Had I known this, I might have been prepared. I asked the question that if I bought $15 worth of other items, could I use my credit card. They said that was fine. Now when I explained further, that I had not enough cash, the host said it would be fine to make an exception this one time. He was very nice about it. My friend and I were able to count out our cash, quarters and all, and make it all work in the end. The man was so nice about it, we wanted to respect his wishes. Here is my issue. I'm a small business owner. It is the cost of doing business to take credit cards, even though there are fees involved. As a manager of a restaurant, I caution you not to tell what a deal I'm getting, and how it doesn't make sense to let people use credit cards. Give us all a break, charge $16 instead of $15 and let us pay however is convenient. What happens if you don't do that, is I leave remembering this cash/credit issue and not the food. The food was excellent, however, I'm not likely to go back because it's the principle issue. To liken it to another example...it's like a hotel charging $175 for the room and $10 for wifi. Just charge me $185. If you don't, what ends up happening, is that I remember this issue rather than the meal. Also, let it be known that this conversation was happening with 3 other tables around us. It's alienating. Just charge another $1 or $2 and let's not talk about it.

Mediocrity, thy name is Meet 27. While it is great that Meet 27 is gluten free, and has a plethora of vegan and vegetarian options to choose from, these facts alone don't make the restaurant good. At 7:00pm on a Friday, the restaurant was only half full. Even though there were less than 8 tables in the restaurant, 2 servers, and a guy to help run food, the service was lackluster. After being seated, it took 15 minutes for us to get waters. We had brought a bottle of wine (they don't have a liquor license yet, so the restaurant is BYOB), and it took 10 more minutes for us to get wine glasses. And considering the $5 corking fee, it was definitely strange that the server didn't open our wine for us- my friend had to fish a corkscrew out of the bottom of her purse. The food was definitely what ruined the restaurant for me, though. While the portions were quite generous (and my friend's salmon filet was quite possibly the largest salmon filet I've seen served in a restaurant), the flavor of the food was unimpressive. The Vindaloo Pork had little flavor, but a nearly overwhelming amount of heat. The Chili Chicken tasted like bad chinese take-out. The salmon was over cooked. The Asian Stir-Fried Noodles were overwhelmed by cilantro. With the average price of entrees nearing or passing $20, the quality of the food was unforgivable. Perhaps it was just a bad night, but considering the experience we had, I have no desire to give this place a second chance.

I LOVE THIS PLACE. i'm fortunate enough to live a few blocks away where I can grab a bottle of wine and a buddy and have a lovely sit down dinner. it is dimly lit, waitstaff is quiet and friendly. clean and laid back. a lot of folks have complained about the lack of liquor license (though that is no fault of the owners - it is a zoning issue). i really appreciate being able to have my own wine without spending a fortune! my favorite dish is the pork vindaloo. i can't eat rice so instead of rice, they gladly give me two servings of steamed vegetables (which are mild but not bland - and includes beets!). the pork is so spicy and flavorful. and there is a ton of it. good rice point! my hunnybun usually gets lamb. its spicy and cooked perfectly, if you can eat sugar, don't sleep on the german chocolate cupcakes. it has a fudgey consistency and rules real hard.

Not a single miss with dinner. I came here for a friend's birthday party along with 13 people. The restaurant handled our table smoothly! Our waiter was very patient with us, and had a lot of detailed knowledge on menu items. I was trying to decide between the salmon or the trout daily special. I went with the salmon--and I'm absolutely glad I did. I'm going to attach a picture of it and let you see for yourself. It tastes better than it looks--and it looks pretty damn beautiful.

It was raining a bit, drizzle making asphalt black in small ovals before fading grey in Baltimore humidity. I was on the phone as I drove up to Meet 27 and saw Michelle waiting for me to arrive. She waved, I awkwardly held my phone and made a motion with my chin like a salutation. It's hard to say hello to more than one person at the same time, if not damn impossible except for a fat man with bearded chins in the plural. I parked after making an illegal U turn, and got out of the car to give Michelle a hug. The restaurant beckoned. The door, opened like a funeral procession, made that soft and heavy sound of the door to a bar. We walked into a well lit dining room, and what appeared to be a bar...without any alcohol. Apparently there had been trouble with a liquor license, and as such the restaurant was BYOB. The last place I had been to that was BYOB besides a house party, was Small's jazz club in NYC. That night I chewed on a piece of gum and then played a few bars on someone else's saxophone to straight no chaser. I think I drank a seabreeze or a champale gold. Sometimes life is dripping to the stitches with irony. The owner or manager of the restaurant greeted us and sat us down upstairs, with a great view of the bar area. I couldn't help but think it was such a waste - that if a bar were present, the restaurant could really take off. Potential when viewed from above is like a moving target, tempting but ultimately dismissed. I surveyed the menu instead. ...and what a menu it was. The appetizers looked delicious and catered to vegan and vegetarian palates. The entrees all looked delicious, but I was immediately drawn to the vindaloo. Michelle chose the Paneer in a chili sauce with the kind of narrowed, hawk-eyed gaze that generally signals a kill or at least a tall, skinny platinum blonde. The appetizers were ok, but nothing particularly special. The entrees though...Michelle's chili paneer tasted strangely familiar, like something my mother would make. There was a bit of Korean spice to it and it was absolutely fantastic. I would go back to Meet 27 just for the paneer. The vindaloo was on an entirely different plane - steamed or slow cooked pork that probably fell off the bone only minutes ago, thin straws of ginger that delicately poked through the hazy heat of the vindaloo spices, and perfectly cooked rice covered in steamed vegetables that appeared to have a slight bruising of tumeric. The vindaloo was hot. It was damn hot, L.A. in the summer hot. The heat stuck to the top of my throat, it coated my mouth, it rolled in tongues of flame around my own with the kind of ferocity generally reserved for a high school makeout session, and I bore with it. I ate, and drank water, and watched sweat bead on my forearms from the heat, the damn heat. It was intense, and glorious, and perfect. What is the point of vindaloo, if not to make one sweat bullets? What is the point indeed? At the end of the meal there was a mostly forgettable vegan mousse(covered in michelle's review), but there was also peace. The rain had stopped. The sky bore the marks of birth, a storm recumbent upon the horizon. The vindaloo in my system kept me warm on as I headed home, towards the water, always towards the water when the rain ends and the evening begins.

My fiancee requested that we try meet27 for his birthday dinner. Overall, this is a cute hipster hangout. The interior is interesting, as the paint colors are warm and inviting. The first floor includes a bar, which is slightly strange since the place is currently byo. There are pretty chandeliers, but not a lot else to capture your attention. It's clear the owners are in the early stages of putting a lot of attention into a space that needed a lot of work and they've done a great job so far, with some additional work to do. We tried the empanadas, batada vada, chicken kabobs, and the vegetarian chili paneer. All of the food was quite good. The spices were spot on and the portions were nicely sized for a reasonable price. This place is great for people like me, who are not particularly good at putting together dishes like this themselves. If you're in this neighborhood and looking for good and reasonable priced food to share with friends, this is a great spot.

If I could give this place three and a half stars, that would be ideal. However, I can't, so rounding up will have to do. Atmosphere - In a cool, two leveled converted rowhome, Meet 27 has a classy vibe with some murals and art by MICA students adorning the walls. Several chandeliers decorate the ceiling, and the floor to ceiling mirrors behind the bar open up the space, and give the bartender lots of room to write up her delicious and innovative drink specials! Food - I had the "Classic Burger" a highly flavorful burger spiced with mint and something else that I couldn't put my finger on, but it was earthy and delicious. Topped with caramelized onions and cheese, this burger was a winner. I was hesitant to order it, as the bun (like everything else on the menu) was gluten free, but I could barely taste the difference. My only complaint was that the burger was slightly overcooked, drying out what would otherwise be a great innovative take on the classic cheeseburger The meal was balanced out by the amazing sweet potato fries, with a mango ketchup and a smoky chipotle aioli that paired well with the sweetness of the fries. I finished up with a mango coconut fizz (they are still waiting on their liquor license to serve alcohol) which was a great end to the meal. My friends had the chocolate mousse and the coconut key lime parfait, which they both said were fantastic. All in all, a wonderful addition to the Charles Village area.

Amazing food at this 100% gluten free restaurant. An oasis for those with celiac or gluten intolerance...AND they use separate frying and cutting equipment for the vegeterian patrons. Love this place!

Love it! AMAZING burgers, so tasty. Good sweet potato fries. Can't wait until the neighborhood politics settles down and they can serve alcohol.

Our experience here was wonderful! We are both gluten free and I am vegan, so this is an awesome place to go for dinner! Our server was Mikehla. She was great! Very helpful and sweet. Starting conversations and checking up to make sure everything was good. We got the vegetable fritters for an appetizer, which were excellent, and for the main courses I got the enchiladas and my boyfriend got the kabobs. They were delicious! I really enjoyed eating here and would definitely visit again!

You walk in and there is a sign welcoming you and instructing you to please wait to be seated. Where is the hostess? Our waitress was not welcoming nor friendly. She did not smile once. Service was decent and relatively fast. Duck Taco - The toppings includes creamy fresh guacamole, tangy semi-sweet mango salsa, grilled onions, tomatoes, peppers, & cilantro. With the first bite it was extremely oily, as orange colored oil dripped everywhere and made a mess. The main part of the taco the duck was meh. Barely any taste and you could not tell it was duck. It was chewy and almost rubbery. Definitely not cooked properly. Luckily there were two tortillas to hold the taco together, otherwise everything would fall apart. Portobello Mozzarella Burger with Fries - Again the portobello was oily. Who is the chef of this place? Why are they so heavy handed with the oil? It was drenched in oil. Bland and oily mushroom in a bun. Fries where unique and different. Yummy & crunchy. But the two sauces were meh. The sweeter one taste like pure sugar and the spicy sauce was better, but not complex at all. Skip this one. Fish Sandwich with Fries- Small portion of fried fish on a bun with a small drizzle of chipotle tartar sauce and lettuce and tomato. Again fries were the only good part of this meal. Avoid Sweet 27. The plating is excellent. Food looks amazing, but there is nothing special about it. The service and food are meh. It is nice that it is gluten-free, but I will not be visiting again.

I was very excited to visit Sweet 27 on a trip to Baltimore this weekend after learning it was 100% gluten-free. Prior to my trip I mentioned it to several friends from Baltimore and they all raved about it and said I would love it. I was surprised they had even been there since a lot of times 100% gluten-free restaurants aren't well known or popular to gluten-eaters. That it was seemingly popular and recommended were great signs. I went with three friends from Baltimore, including two who had been before and really liked it. At a place with so many gluten-free options I was expecting to have difficulty deciding what to get, but this was especially hard. I first went for an order of their Asian crab cake. Celiac since I was three, I don't think I ever have had crab cakes before. I'm also not a huge seafood eater, but I really enjoyed the crab cake flavor and texture. The Asian flavors were a bit "guilty" because I'm so used to them being full of gluten from the soy sauce. That was an added treat. For my meal I went with the fish sandwich of the day, which was flounder and fried. Again not a big seafood eater, but this was a light fish. I was impressed with the batter, which I'm pretty sure is spiced garbanzo bean batter (at least that's what's on the regular fish and chips). The bun was also awesome. Good texture and great flavor. It held together really well. At one point it all got a bit messy, but this was because the fish slipped out and not because the bun fell apart. What I also loved were the fries on the side, which came in a chickpea batter. It was like they were beer battered and came with some extra crisp. My friends all got different tacos- shrimp, chicken, and veggie. All enjoyed them. Sweet 27 has a very diverse menu- tacos, burgers, fish, Indian, and more. There are a lot of dishes that are naturally gluten-free or easily adjusted, but also a number of "special" gluten-free dishes like the fried fish and crab cake. Even though I was decently full it was hard to say no to a dessert menu at a 100% gluten-free restaurant. I went for a raspberry and almond torte, which was pretty delicious. The top was decadent with just a little bit of crunchy crust on the bottom. Sweet 27 was an excellent option for gluten-frees and gluten-eaters. Great flavors and tons of options. Next trip to Baltimore I will be back!

Pros: + Good food quality + Good selection + Fast, friendly, attentive service + Bathroom was clean Cons: - Food was solid, but not quite 5 star Came here with a friend for dinner on Tuesday, around 6pm. We were seated right away. Our server brought us glasses of water right away, and was attentive about refilling later. They had some specials, so I got the mango BBQ baby back ribs, which came with mashed sweet potatoes and a salad. The ribs (4) were tender and tasty, the mango had a strong presence, and the mashed sweet potatoes were great. I also had a beer, though I don't remember what kind (my friend recommended it). I'm not a heavy beer drinker, but the beer was light and I could finish it without trouble. I also had the opportunity to use the bathroom, which was pretty clean (there are 2 bathrooms, one for men and one for women, each single-person use).

How strange that the best Veggie Pakoras in town would be at Meet 27. But they are. Seriously. I've tried them everywhere. I'm eating them now from Lumbini's, and the best ones are still at Meet 27. Everything about this place screams Thoughtful. The menu is thoughtful and accommodating, and yet all the gluten free and vegan/vegetarian options don't taste like dense heavy grass. The gluten-free buns are genuinely tasty. The tables are big and solid and wood, and the murals thoughtfully reference the greatest hits of Baltimore Celebrityhood. The staff is exceedingly gracious. They let you bring your own booze. When not filled to capacity, they don't sit you right next to the one other table so you have to censor the scandalous shit you'd prefer to be saying. I've ordered the coconut milk pepper steak a few times, and it's always really good, but the oiliness level does vary wildly (also, whether it separates or not). This is the one place that makes KALE unequivocally palatable and not a chore to chew through, though. Also: PORK VINDALOO. I really mean to go here more often, and maybe I will. This is one new restaurant that I really, really don't want to go out of business.

The menu sounded really interesting and fun but I wasn't very impressed with the tastes and the textures of the food. I wanted to try their gluten free stuff since everyone was raving about it, but I have to say, I found the chili paneer to be boring. It tasted a bit like brown sauce on veggies with paneer which was...weird. Fusion is great but this was not a good example. Also, the battered and deep friend broccoli (or cauliflower?) in the dish made the dish taste heavy. Finally, the carb to veg ratio was way off. I really needed more polenta to offset the heaviness of the sauce. The other stuff I tried were the Batata vadas, the enchilada mole and the vegetarian platter. No complaints on the fried potatoes (batata vadas). Those were just deep fried and delicious. The mole sauce was fiery! I love spicy, but I don't think I could handle anymore more than a bite of that one. The veggie platter was tasty, but I wasn't super impressed with the random bites of food that they tried to join together. I didn't feel like they complimented each other that well. Also, I really wished I knew it was BYOB in advance :(

Meh. I really wanted to like this place. Its very cute, small and new, so I am hoping that things start to look up pretty soon. The owner greeted us as we came in. He, and his staff couldn't have been more welcoming or more attentive. The theme here 'fuses the flavors of South Asia and the Caribbean with traditional American classics." Still, the menu is a bit strange and is a hodgepodge of different things, from empanadas to chicken satay to burgers to sweet potato fries. The pictures on Yelp are a very good representation of what the food looks like. For an appetizer, we ordered the chicken satay and the empanadas. IMHO, the chicken was a little dry, and the empanadas were more like fried triangles than the little half-moon-shaped pies that I am accustomed to. (Maybe these were modeled after a cuisine that is not Latin, who knows?) For an entree, my friend ordered the pan seared salmon. I will say that this place does not skimp on portions. The salmon was the single largest portion of fish that I have ever seen served as an entree meant to be eaten by one person. It was easily a full 16 ounces! I was also lucky to receive an unusually large (Cheesecake-Factory-sized) portion of the Chili Paneer. Unfortunately, I just couldn't stomach it. It was greasy with some of the vegetables nice and crisp like I like them while others were limp. Have you ever had food so bad that it ruined your appetite? The only reason that I didn't send it back was because I was unsure if it was the food that made me lose my appetite or if I just wasn't as hungry as I thought I was. Also, I'm not a fan on sending this back... I can't comment on dessert because I didn't order any, which is a first for me... Cute place, needs work, will go back to try dessert, or for happy hour when this place gets a liquor license.

Signature fries were awesome. I had the Spicy Pork, huge portions all around the table. Despite going with picky eaters I did not hear a single complaint. Will definitely go back when they have a liquor license (note that they do not currently have alcohol, BYOB only)

I stopped in on a relatively empty evening with my girlfriend and had our food served very quickly. I ordered a portobello mushroom sandwich and sweet potato fries and all ingredients were prepared extremely well and tasted fresh. BYOB was an awesome perk as well. I would recommend this place to anyone.

I love that everything on the menu is gluten free! They have a great selection, awesome vegetarian options. And the sweet potato fries are to die for. I have dreams about them. Also BYOB is a huge plus. The owner is super friendly and stops by your table to check in and I love that. It shows how much they love the place.

This is really an Indian restaurant. They might call it "new American" but everything they serve is spiced with South Asian spices--not that this is a bad thing, but not what you're exactly expecting when you order an enchilada either. The mussels are WONDERFUL!!! Everything else here was just average at best. Enchiladas served with a chickpea base--not so great. Chicken skewers--dry. Desserts--uninspired. Go to this place when you want Indian, and order the vindaloo--hot and delicious, if you just want a good burger, or American Bistro fare--pick another place.

As a vegetarian, there are not many places to go in Baltimore where I am satisfied with the options. This place really comes through with food, service and ambiance. I have been to Meet 27 twice now and both times I have come away very satisfied and happy. The first time I had the veggie plate and my friend had the chili paneer which is served on this crazy good polenta. I was a little jealous of my friend that time because his was much tastier. But hello - it's fried cheese! My veggie plate was extremely good. Lots of variety and savory. (I'm actually kind of a naughty vegetarian if you really want to know. I'm not actually in love with vegetables. But if you like them - you would love his dish.) The second time was 2 weeks ago. We had the Batata Vada (potato fritters) for a starter. You're probably reading that and saying, oh whatever. Who cares about potato fritters? Well, you should. You really should. Because these things come with two different sauces and they are hot and not greasy, spiced just right and they hit the spot. One sauce was a cilantro chutney situation and the other I forget but we really gobbled them down. We fought over them if you really want to know. I had the tofu version of the chili paneer (read: little to no cheese?) and it was guilt free and totally amazing. Well-spiced, delicious, and I couldn't hardly stop eating it. Damn, the portions are huge here. One friend had the Mediterranean burger and she said it was great. It came with the best sweet potato fries I have ever tasted. (There were tons of fries.) I personally am sick of people trying to put sweet potatoes in everything but these were amazing and I would get them again in a heartbeat. My other friend had a noodle dish that was on special and he was very happy with it. Eventually this place will have a liquor license but right now it is BYOB. Go there and then when you're done, swing next door and grab some cupcakes at their little bakery. Or stay and get a yummy fancy dessert. Some people think the ambiance is a little weird but I don't. I like the mural with Poe and John Waters and is that Cal Ripken? It was painted by MICA students. Who cares?! The lighting is just right and it's not too noisy and I'm sorry that I have to mention this but the bathroom is really very nice as well. I'm sorry but it is! So please go to Meet 27. I really think it will make you happy. P.S. Somebody described the waiter there as awkward and sort of stalky. I did not have any issues in that realm at all. I have found him to be very knowledgeable and helpful. He's a cutie!

Interesting place. Some things I really like and some not so much. Though I can not say anything is bad. They are in some beef with a neighbor about their bar. I guess that is holding up their license. The bar is all there, but empty. Doesn't bother my wife, who can BYO our of her collection or just run and buy a bottle before we go. They only charge like $3 to cork it. The food is solid. Not the greatest, but good quality and flavors for a pretty fair price. For us, this place is close to our home and parking is easy. Makes it a good quick decision place. Pork Vindaloo is very good. Usually have a good fresh fish special as well. We had the burgers on one trip. They are not Crosstown Burgers (Henninger's Tavern), but so few are! They were above average at any rate. The other thing that draws us in here is that it is very rarely filled and crazy. So, don't tell your friends and let's keep it to ourselves!

I have to give it to the team running this place - they played the cards dealt them. After the neighborhood successfully campaigned to deny their (already approved) liquor license application, they rolled with the punches and went BYOB. How to describe this place? High-brow take on a comfort food/Indian fusion? Tasty burgers, good Indian-inspired appetizers and entrees, and numerous choices for the vegans, that Hezbollah-like offshoot of the vegetarians (Bourdain's words, not mine). The mural of native Baltimoreans is a little gothic and weird, in that even the recognizable celebrities look a bit like their zombie counterparts. Otherwise, the ambience is lovely, stained concrete and hard woods fitting of Charm City.

I thought the food here was pretty decent but not quite craveable. I would be interested in returning to check out more of the menu. My tofu vindaloo wings were overly-spiced and could have benefited from a cooling vegan sour cream sauce or yogurt. Our waitress was helpful, responsive, and apologized for getting behind once the place became crowded.

My friend has celiac, and we certainly appreciate any place that can make our dining out less of a chore. However, we were wholly disappointed by Meet 27. I ordered the steak and she ordered a veggie platter. I ordered my steak medium rare, and it came out nothing short of medium well. The mashed potatoes on the side were of a strange consistency, almost as if they'd been made with water instead of milk. Instead of a veggie platter, she received a hamburger. Fortunately, she isn't a vegetarian. The burger itself was dry and the bun was also dry and crumbling. We realize that there's a difference in consistency between traditional rolls and gluten-free, but this went beyond expectations. For a restaurant that bills itself as an "American Bistro", their menu does not reflect this in the least. Expect dishes skewed towards more Indian or Asian stylings. In addition, the waiter we had was very awkward. I had that feeling you get when you see a classmate bomb a presentation in front of the class. You know what I mean. When he wasn't at the table being uncomfortable and awkward, he was standing 20-30 feet away seemingly always looking our way. "Being observed like lab rats" is not the best atmosphere for a dining experience. Both of us really, really wanted to like this place, as it would make eating out very easy. Unfortunately, unless something drastic changes, I don't see us going back.

This place is lovely and delicious. My bf and I decided to go tapas-style and order four appetizers instead of entrees. We got the fries, potato fritters (because fries just wasn't enough fried potato for the day), the salad, and the chicken satay. Every plate was beautifully presented and delectable. I was a wee bit irritated that they didn't have the lamb because that is what I originally wanted, but the four appetizers was enough food and a fun variety. The art inside is delightful and I can't wait to go back. It seems like the perfect kind of place for a date or having drinks with girlfriends. Loved it!

Really 3.5 but giving it the 4 star bump for the effort. Came in for the first time, and for Mother's Day brunch. They opened at 11:30, and that was the first available reservation. That's more like lunch time for me, but that's OK. Atmosphere was a little dark, but I really liked the original art on the walls. The tables, however, nearly cause me to give a 3 star rating. I'm not that tall (6') but I couldn't fit my legs under the table. They appear to be handmade; at least the bases anyway. The tabletop supports are simply too large; and every table looked to be the same way. My 5'9" tall wife had the same problem. Also, the floor and table top were a little sticky. Another patron who came in after us complained to her server about the sticky floors, so I know it wasn't just me! Speaking of service, they were good-to-excellent throughout. We had tag team service, but they were never intrusive or hovering. Owner gave all the moms a fresh rose which was incredibly arromatic. Nice touch. Restaurant is BYO (not sure why it says "full bar" above; they have a nice bar with nothing on it). I knew this in advance and brought in a bottle of champagne, which they uncorked for no charge. I thought there was a corkage fee, but maybe they waived it? Server offered to keep it chilled, but then never brought an ice bucket. That was the only service hiccup. No biggie. Fixed price menu included a nice bevy of options, and the portions were actually too big. Wife had the crabcake to start, which had a surprising amount of heat in the spice. I think I detected cinnamon, too? Nice amount of crab; I didn't see any filler. Served on top of an elegant citrus sauce; mango I think. Really delicious. I had the batata, which I think was chopped brocolli formed into a ball, breaded, and deep fried. Served with two sauces, and I think overtop of a bed of balsamic vinegar. Excellent starter. Second course was a salad, and for whatever reason the menu listed the wrong lettuce (burrata). I don't recall the replacement, but it was tasty, and again way too generous a portion. Main course: for me, I had the seafood plate, which was a bit confused I thought in terms of the presentation, as well as the sauce. It needed a bit more kick. The salmon was overdone, and the mussels appeared to be Sly Stalone's. I've never seen mussels that large. The shrimps were the best part of this dish, with the scallops a close second. Wife had the bacon wrapped cornish hen, which was absolutely huge (looked like a whole chicken) and she barely finished 1/4 of it. Tasty, though. Daughter had the chicken lollipops, which were probably a little too spicy for her. She made due, though. Another table with kids nearby wasn't as placatable, and I'm pretty sure they didn't touch their food. For the next Mother's Day, if they want to do brunch, they should consider adding a more kid-friendly menu. Dessert offered a choice of a lemon cake or a chocolate raspberry cake. I chose the latter, while the wife chose the former. We ended up trading, though I thought both were delicious. A tremendous value for sure, and we will definitely return.

Food was great, but the neighborhood was questionable. The buildings nearby seemed a bit run-down. Otherwise, we'd visit again.

In my immediate family, we have 6 members who suffer from celiac. When we go out to dinner, there's always a fear of contamination with gluten. BUT NOT AT MEET 27!! Last night, the whole group ate at Meet 27 and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! The food was FANTASTIC! From the mouthwatering appetizers of Chicken Satay to the delectable Classic American Hamburger with caramelized onions and buffalo mozzarella! Dinner was outstanding! Then came dessert! We could have ordered one of the amazing choices on the menu, but we decided to walk next door to Sweet Sin Bakery and buy 15 cupcakes!!! haha I'm not kidding! We stocked up! Regardless if you eat GF or not--GO THERE AND TRY IT! Yummmm

My girlfriend has celiac disease and we moved to Baltimore a few months ago. We were really excited to try Meet 27. It's the only sit down place in town where she doesn't have to worry about cross contamination at all, and we already knew how good Sweet 27/Sweet Sin next door is, so we came in with really high hopes. Those hopes continued after the first bad experience and the second. We finally came to the realization that the food is just bad after the third visit. It's not bad in the sense that it's inedible, it's just pretty mediocre and filled with spice and blandness at the same time. The service was also really really slow at least a couple of times that we went, despite not being full. It BYOB which is nice in some ways, not nice in others. I would describe the cuisine as half Indian. Meaning the Indian food we've gotten is half as good as most Indian restaurants and they try to sneak Indian spices into almost everything that isn't Indian. Sometimes (I'm told), you just want a good ol', plain, American burger, especially when you can't get them in most places because you can't eat the bun. A lot of the other food that doesn't fit those categories was honestly just pretty bland. The one real positive is that Meet 27 is one of the few restaurants that actually means spicy when they say spicy. The pork vindaloo, despite being relatively flavorless, was sufficiently hot. So will we be back? Probably. It is a good place to go when you have food allergies and you don't want to deal with the possibility of having a waiter that doesn't know that bread or pasta contain wheat (this happened once, in Vermont), and we do live 5 minutes away. My parents also liked it. But there's no way we would go to Meet 27 absent the whole gluten allergy thing.

My sister and I have been here twice so far and are totally thrilled that there is a vegan/gluten-free eatery in Baltimore. Not only is the food scrumptious for a gluten-free eater, it's tasty for someone without food restrictions. The sweet potato fries are the best I've ever tasted and their desserts are delicious too. I've only been here twice, but I'll be continuing to patronize this place.

Went to Meet 27 based on the reviews. I would have to say I was pretty disappointed with my experience. This place is basically an "Indian restaurant" in disguise but their Indian food is not very good at all. We had a plate of sweet potato fries as an appetizer and they were completely drench with oil and actually dripping oil as we picked them up - but they were not half bad. Our veggie platter consisted of Indian food but since they had different names for the items listed you're in for quite the surprise when your food gets to you. Now I actually love my Indian food but this was just horrible in my opinion. It wasn't all the way Indian, I can't exactly describe it. I really don't know what to make of it. Our server was actually very nice and it is BYOB so that added an extra star for sure!

AMAZING!! From start to finish. Food was excellent. Heads up on the Vindaloo pork as it is described as spicy. It is spicy x100000. The duck is the best we may have EVER had! Love to see them get the liquor license In place. We'll go back ASAP!!

Great place with great food and service. The location throws you off a bit as it's right on the corner of a residential area. Everything is gluten free and the chef, originally from India, offers his take on recipes he's experienced around the world. The cranberry-vinaigrette type dressing over the salmon was spectacular as was the homemade bun their organic grass-fed beef burger comes on. Will definitely try this place again. Recommend for an relaxing and cozy dinner out. The owner told us its BYOB until they get their liquor license so have fun!

Great Food! Great option for the vegetarian and the meat eater a like! I got the Chilli Paneer with tofu and it was wonderful as it had a basil polenta as the base. Strongly recommend it!

The atmosphere leaves something to be desired in this haphazard reworking of old space. It's BYOB which could be considered a pro or con, but in any case you'll want to come prepared and avoid the ghetto liquor store up the road. (The liquor store manager literally told me he was robbed at gun point last month, yikes.) As for the food @ Meet 27, I've been all over Baltimore in search of some delectable vegetarian options with very little luck. Here, however, I had the vegetable platter and it was probably the best restaurant vegetarian meal I've had all year. Every single item on the plate shined like the main attraction- full flavor and thoughtfully prepared. Boyfriend's meal was just pretty good (American burger) but the appetizer was delicious (batata vada). All in all this is a good spot for some tasty food, no frills.

Love this place. Great atmosphere, friendly service and good food. Sweet potato fries and the mango lasses are delicious.

We have been here twice. The first time the duck breast was yummy and so was my pepper steak, once I got used to meat being more like chopped up pot roast that what I expected. All the vegetables were flavorful and satisfying. We got there late and the server brought the check without offering dessert. I had the scraps for dinner the next night and liked it all over again. Lat night we went for hamburgers, and I wouldnt go there for those again. There was no char on them, they were dry and seemed like they had been overcooked earlier in the day. The cook doesnt seem to understand what is good about a burger. They need some juice. The sweet potato fries were crunchy and tasty and the vegan and gluten-free chocolate mousse didnt taste healthy at all.

Cozy atmosphere, good food and BYOB - what more do you need? The Pork Vindaloo was delicious and spicy - it will be hard not to order it again the next time I go. I also tried the sweet potato fries and they were awesome, especially with the homemade ketchup. The place was bustling the Saturday night I went so I hope it stays that way and succeeds.

my favorite restaurant in baltimore. the staff are all so warm and helpful and non-intrusive. the menu has familiar items and new interesting items for all tastes. sweet, savory, adventurous, meatatarians and vegetarians alike can eat here. good ambience. now that the outside doesn't look like a lower hampden dive, they may have to start taking reservations! only suggestion would be to offer more green vegetables as sides for those wanting to boost their nutritional value.

This place is a great addition to Baltimore! I'm a big fan. The sweet potato fries alone are worth the trip. They are perfect and I crave them on a daily basis! I've gotten the mussels a few times and they're flavorful and pretty large. The burgers are also yummy. I've heard the Indian food is where Meet 27 really shines, but I've yet to try it. The atmosphere is nice, I think it's a great place for a date (especially if your date happens to be gluten-free...). It also seems like they can handle larger parties pretty well. I've had varied experiences as far as the service goes. They definitely do their best to be attentive but it can get busy in there and they can get a little scattered. The last time I was there, the service was spot on though. They clearly care about their customers, and the owner is also very friendly. I love coming here with a six-pack of Boh, and then heading to the Ottobar. That is a guaranteed good night!

It's ashamed... I hoped, given that the place is only 2 blocks away from my home in Remington, that the food would be better. I started with ordering a glass of ice tea that was served only with raw sugar. I understand that these folks want to be all granola about their business but if you know anything about the way sugar dissolves in cold liquids, you would avoid using sugar in the raw. The menu is confusing. There is not theme or standard fare; it's a real hodge-podge of random kitsch fare, so I ordered a burger. When I ordered I was told that I could not get mayonnaise or ketchup but I was informed that they only had chipotle mayonnaise and mango ketchup. WHAT??? I cannot get regular mayonnaise but I can get chipotle mayonnaise? Doesn't it take regular mayo to make chipotle mayo? The burger was very greasy, lacked flavor, was much rarer on one side than the other, and was served on a gritty tasteless roll. The mango ketchup was watery (not ketchup like at all). When I ate my french-fried I managed to get mango ketchup on my shirt, not once but several time (even after I realize it was happening) because it was too thin and would not stick to the fries. Given that this was last Friday in the 6-7 o'clock hours and that there were only 4 tables occupied in the restaurant, I think they are in real trouble and given the state of the food, I don't think it is caused simply by a lack of a liquor license.

A unique menu automatically get high praise in my books. You have many 'usual suspects' on the menu, but they are from different cuisines (e.g. Indian, Thai). Also, all the items get their town "Meet 27" twist...with mixed results. In short, I love the menu and the food is certainly worth the price.

They are not afraid of spice here. Usually I love spicy foods, but I actually felt they rely a little heavily on aggressive seasoning and, as a result, it sometimes overpowers the more subtle flavors. Even in their less spicy dishes, garlic overpowers everything and pretty much blows out your taste buds. It was Valentine's Day so the menu was prix fixe, and some of the items were specials. We started the evening with appetizers: crab cakes with kumquat and mango chutney and burre blanc, and mussels in a coconut curry. Both were very spicy, but fairly well-balanced. The heat built nicely but didn't overwhelm. It was the entree round where things kind of fell apart. I got the fillet with garlic smashed potatoes and sauteed spinach. The fillet was well-cooked and delicately seasoned with herbs (mostly rosemary), but the vast amounts of garlic in the potatoes was overpowering. It pretty much blew out my taste buds. My date got the chicken ballotine with quinoa that was heavily spiced with Mediterranean flavors that dominated the ingredients. Another friend got the rockfish special with shrimp and mussels. Rockfish is a fairly delicate fish and, unfortunately, the aggressive seasoning once again totally overwhelmed everything on the plate. The dessert course was hands down the best. The spiced apple cake and their creative take on tiramisu were delicious (even if the tiramisu was so alcoholic I actually coughed after each bite). Overall, I enjoyed my meal much more than my four table-mates, who definitely gave thumbs down to their entrees. The food is not bad by any means, but you'd definitely better be a fan of big, bold, over-the-top flavors. Don't look for subtlety here. Also, be aware it's BYOB, which we didn't realize going in.

Amazing food and courteous service! The thing about this place is that you're not going to find food anything like this anywhere else! The dinner entree combinations are original. You may be expecting something when you order the food but when you receive the food and eat it- it is EVEN BETTER than what you expected! We had the catch of the day, vindaloo pork, and sweet potato fries & chicken satay appetizers for our toddler. Our toddler ate a large portion of the chicken and then ate some of the rice that came alongside our entrees. (The adults were secretly happy that the child didn't eat much of the sweet potato fries.) The adults finished off every bit of everything we ordered. It really was that good. Whether you are on a gluten-free diet or not, it really is great food!

Ate at Meet 27 recently, and thought the food was quite innovative. As vegetarians, we particularly appreciated the innovative vegetarian menu. We only wished that the vegetarian options were more extensive since it would give us more excuses to keep coming back. As someone mentioned in a review, the Chili Paneer was excellent. In this day when almost every restaurant blends in with the next, the Chilli Paneer was unlike anything I had ever tasted before. The combination of paneer, eggplant, onion, green peppers, and sauce melded together in a unique combination. The dish was HUGE. Couldn't finish it myself. We also had the fries. In particular, the sauces that went along with the fries (peach and a spicy sauce) took the dish from average to very very good. Though I was excited to try a "chickpea" coated french fry, I could honestly not tell any difference. In the future, I would probably try the sweet potato fries. Hopefully, the lack of liquor license will not deter people from trying out this restaurant. Also, we'd love to see the chef continue to create innovative and creative menu options that fuse the various asian flavors.

What a welcome addition to Charles Village! YEA!!! The menu offers excellent burgers with the most sublime sweet potato fries, you will want more. The hummus was balance of garlic and spice, and our order came with sweet potato chips that were also addictive. The menu has reinterpreted traditional Asian and Indian dishes as well. The desserts are made by the pastry chef at Sweet Sin next door and they go beyond their signature cupcake offerings. A must have is the chocolate mousse, which has a delicate espresso finish. This neighborhood is damn lucky to have such a tasty corner!!!

I stumbled across Meet 27 while I was in Baltimore, and wow! My boyfriend and I were both totally blown away. The space is really neat, totally Baltimore chic with cool chandeliers near the bar and a huge mural of famous Baltimoreans eating there. We started off with sweet potato fries, which were positively amazing. They're battered in a light chickpea flour before being fried and served with two really creative sauces. They're great about catering to vegans- the server knew right away that the fries were safe (batter always worries me), and even said they can make mango lassi with coconut milk instead of yoghurt :) No worries for the meat eaters, either. The table next to us were raving about their burgers as much as I was raving about my veggie platter. They're not afraid to mix cuisines in one dish, wish is really cool. The boy got paneer over polenta and smothered in a Korean BBQ sauce. Who'd have thunk? Hands down, everything that we had was crazy good.

Fabulous dishes with unique spice combinations. I have had 2 different fish entrees, the salmon tar tare and mussel appetizers, as well as the famous sweet potato fries and all the desserts. All were excellent. I love the decor and atmosphere. The owner is friendly and staff really seem to care about diners having a great experience. I highly recommend it. I've found it difficult to find truly exceptional restaurants in Baltimore so Meet 27 is a welcome addition.

Went there on a Sunday night. Two other groups there. The food is Indian, not expected for an "American Bistro." Ate a scallop tartare appetizer (terrible terrible terrible, I assume this is what gave my date and I diarrhea for three days afterwords), rare steak came medium well, their "local farm" is Saval foods---which is like Cisco--a distributor. Only a ding-dong would eat here. Sweet Sin is very good. No idea why this place is so bad. Maybe Sweet Sin is not the gem it appears to be either?

Maybe it is because I am not used to gluten free food but I didn't like the food in this restaurant too much. The atmosphere was awesome and the service was excellent but my hamburger was not very good. The sweet potato fries were good though.

My husband and I were told by friends to try Meet 27 while we were visiting from manhattan. Needless to say that coming from Manhattan we eat at some amazing restaurants and i can honestly say that Meet 27's food was up there with the best! We ordered the sweet potato fries, the lamb burger and chicken satays with peanut sauce. The burger and chicken were cooked to perfection - meat was juicy and tender and the peanut sauce that accompanied the chicken satay was like heaven! I don't think I used my napkin once I was too busy licking my fingers! I totally disagree with anyone who says the food at this joint is anything but superb!

I wanted to love this place...it is hard to find good take out Vegan food...but we had SUCH a bad experience! We ordered our food at 7:25 pm according to my order confirmation it was to be ready by 7:50 pm. We arrived to the restaurant at 8:15 to pick up the food. The host told us that "there was a problem" and they had just received our order. He told us that it would be ready in just a few minutes and told us to sit down and wait. At 8:30 he brought out a bag of food and gave it to us but it turned out to be the wrong order....so we waited some more. At this point the host told us that when we ordered from Living Social Takeout/Delivery the order was sent to the home of the restaurant owner and then he faxed it to the restaurant. As a result, for some reason, resulted in the kitchen cooking the wrong food for us the first time. What?? That makes NO sense at all! Finally they gave us our food around 8:50 pm. The whole thing was so annoying that it was hard to enjoy our food after that. Wont be going back there again. Luckily, Living Social, is AWESOME and they refunded our $ spent for our dinner at Meet 27.

I have been wheat free for over 30 years so was delighted to finally find a gluten-free restaurant in Baltimore. I had a hamburger and their sweet potato fries and loved every mouthful. My first visit was there a week ago and I am going back tonight. Can't wait. Have been passing on the word to my friends who are gluten-free to give this restaurant a try. For those who are not gluten-free, you will enjoy it too.

Charming atmosphere w/great music . Four of us had dinner for the first time and literally fought over the mussel appetizer and homemade bread as well as the desserts! Our waiter was the best and provided excellent recommendations. We were a happy group and will definitely return again soon!

Live around the corner and have eaten here a half-dozen times since they've opened. Fish dishes are aways great and love the caprese salad. A real pleasant surprise were the non-alcoholic mixed drinks: ginger lemonade and strawberry lemonade and a mango lasse that was the best I've ever had.

I came here for a dinner with a few friends. The restaurant is clean, well-decorated with rather eclectic selections. Overall, the service was quite attentive. In terms of the food...there is quite a wide choice of food here. On one hand, there are the classic american food like burgers, ribs, and such. And on another hand, there were a lot of Indian-inspired, and Asian-inspired food on the list. Most had much of an American flare to it, and are no where being authentic, but they were quite tasty, nonetheless. I had the Pork Vindaloo, which was delicious. It was full of flavor, and very SPICY. Another had their Chicken Tikki Masala, which was quite tasty. Few others had a burger and such. Like I said, most Indian food here were very Americanized flavors. But it does satisfy the taste buds. Overall, a very eclectic (and odd range) of menu in terms of ethnic origin. But food is pretty solid (though not five star worthy). Price can be better- burgers are in the low 10's, but other maindishes were mostly in the 20's.
