I actually order the Shroom Burger, even though I eat meat. It's amazing. It's a fried portobello mushroom with cheese, and it's a sandwich. I like their bed burgers, and, they don't hold a candle to the Shroom! Not a fry connoisseur, so I have little opinion. The people around me seemed to love them. The staff are friendly and quick.

So the last time I went to NYC, my sister and I dropped into Shake Shack and we loved our meals! Burgers were delicious, fries were crispy and the milkshake was sooo good. Since then Shake Shack in DC has always been on my list to visit, but lately I've been staying local. So imagine my excitement when I found out that Shake Shack opened a location right on the Baltimore Harbor! Bookmarked it on Yelp immediately and I finally made it to Shake Shack yesterday! I ordered a single Shack Burger, side of fries and a lemonade! We placed our orders and we were given pagers, which really allows things to be organized and you don't have to constantly listen for your number or name. You can grab your condiments, find a seat and chat it up. Nobody can miss the buzzer going off on the table. So the highlight of my meal was definitely the fries! They were crispy and hot. All I needed was ketchup. My friend had cheese over her fries and of course I had to taste a fry covered with cheese. Delicious too. Our Shackburgers had potato buns (don't quote me), roma tomatoes and lettuce. The first thing that struck me was that the burgers were small. My friend said she would probably be hungry after we finished. The buns were also really soft, and combined with hot cheese and mayo it got too mushy for me. The burger itself wasn't very flavorful... don't like to waste food but I was not enjoying this burger at all, so I didn't finish it! Service was great and someone even came to clear our table, which is a nice touch. Overall sooo disappointed in this Shake Shack location. I don't eat burgers often so I would have been better off going to Five Guys. I have to take off two stars because I felt it was overpriced and overall because I didn't enjoy the burger- which is a pretty big deal. I would return here only for fries and custard!

So shake shack to me was pretty good the first time I had it in NYC. It's expanded quite a bit since then, saw it in Vegas, heck here is one in Baltimore. This location just feels like a fast food chain, similar to elevation burger yet not bad like mickey ds or bk. The burgers were made fresh but i do feel the patties were frozen sitting there for a while lol. So the postive side is.....they are real beef. Pricey, average tasting, nothing out of the ordinary, but good for fast food. The service and staff are awesome here.

The burger hit the spot. They come medium. It reminds me of In-N-Out. Californians rejoice. The fries were tasty, but not the best I've ever had. Just okay. Their shakemeister beer is good! I love that they had their OWN brew to offer. They run out of shake flavors (sad but true) and so I was unable to get the chocolate malt I wanted. The cashier recommended the black 'n white shake, which was just vanilla custard mixed with chocolate syrup. Got it as a malt but it just wasn't the same. Meh. The cashiers were very nice, super helpful and sweet, gave recommendations when asked. I do appreciate that. The facility was super duper clean, despite how many people were obviously coming in and out all day! Busy, busy! Someone called this spot the Chipotle of burgers. I can see why. The code for the bathrooms is on the bottom of your receipt, and it will match all the other receipts around that same order time as well.

This place is definitely a nice addition to the downtown/inner harbor district. I'm sure tourist and area employees love it. I, however, am on the fence. Its more expensive than Five Guys, which is across the street. Other than a nicer seating area/ambiance what am I paying for? The burger was good but not anything to write home about (did I mention I am from California, home of In N Out?); the toppings are limited, which is cool if you're not a topping whore like myself. The lemonade was sub par at best. With a Chick-Fil-A next door there's just no reason to do it and as another yelper mentioned it was the size of a child's cup (forgive my gluttonous Americans, ways but I need more beverage). Finally, while I love a crinkle cut fry over all other cuts (except maybe curly) they were just ok. Nothing beats the taste of a fresh cut potato! It is called Shake Shack so when I go back I'll try one, but I'm not breaking my neck or my pockets to get back. If you have the time head down to Federal to Abbey's or over to Kooper's in Fells point. For a similar price you an get a gourmet burger. I guess I'm not on the fence lol

This was my first Shake Shack experience. I've tried going to their locations in NYC but there was always a big line up. This location thankfully, did not have the same rush as NY. The service here is pretty fast too. The decor is cute and neat and the organic food angle is nice. We had a large order of the Shack Burgers and two Special-of-the-day Burgers - with fried onions, cheese and Angus beef (I forgot the name). The meat patties were flavorful and juicy and of the right size (neither too tiny nor too ginormous to fit into my mouth) and the buns were fresh and buttery. The fried onions in the Special burger were such a good accompaniment to it that I found delicious and crunchy. The Shack Burger's ingredients were fresh and the Curly Fries were good too - very thick. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the burgers and I find the price to be justified. The burgers are not of the generic fast food taste and for its under-10$ prices, I would love to keep going back to this place. The shakes however can be skipped. Go to the Chick-fil-A next door.

Overrated. I'm not afraid to say that at all. If you have been near the Inner Harbor within the last few months, you'll notice a pretty long line at Shake Shack that sometimes wraps around the building. Luckily for me, my visits here have avoided those extremely long lines and I can be in and out. A couple people that I know have been harping to me how I should try Shake Shack and the whole pom and circumstance. Well, I tried it, and I'm not overly impressed. I grabbed the Shackburger and a side of fries. For both, the total came to a little under $10. After indulging in my first ever burger at Shake Shack, my thought was, "this burger is good, but I'm not going to stop going to my other favorite burger places in place of Shake Shack." I do want to try out the milkshakes if I do decide to come back to SS in the future. With Chik-Fil-A being right next door to Shake Shack, I'm optimistic that Chik-Fil-A will not be dethroned from the throne anytime soon. Overall, I think Shake Shack is a decent option for a burger while being in Downtown Baltimore. Preferably, if I wanted a burger and I was in Baltimore, I am traveling to Abbey Burger Bistro in Federal Hill.

I've been hearing about Shake Shack for years, so I was very happy to hear that Baltimore was getting one. Determined to understand the hype, I was anxious to try Shake Shack's burger and of course the shakes. I opted for the single hamburger (since I hate American cheese) with everything on it - tomato, lettuce, onion, pickle and the shack sauce. I was pleasantly surprised by how fresh and tasty the burger was. Despite the massive line of customers, my burger was perfectly assembled and ate very cleanly. The meat patty didn't taste pre frozen, and the beefy flavor prevailed. I was also impressed with how the burger wasn't greasy (relatively speaking, like that crap at Five Guys. To be honest, I have had Shake Shack a few times since, and I'll admit I'm a little obsessed. It's probably for the best there isn't one in Hunt Valley. The peanut butter and vanilla concrete was also absolutely delicious. Glad I shared it though, as it was very rich. I also like how Shake Shack embraces the local specialty of the area in which the restaurant is in. For example, the cheesy old bay fries in Baltimore and when I ate at Shake Shack in Chicago, they used Publican sausages for their hot dogs. Also impressive is their red and white wines are by Frog's Leap, a well respected winery in Napa Valley. I can finally understand the hype now and I must say I think SS is better than Inn and Out burger, or any other fast food burger chain for that matter.

Shack Shake now in Baltimore! This Shake Shack has prime real estate just across from the Inner Harbor water front on Pratt St. Though it looked extremely busy on a Saturday, the line moved quickly and food turnover was actually really efficient! The cheeseburger is tasty and the crinkle fries were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. Of course, as locals we had to dump some old bay on the fries...amazing! I do prefer Five guys burgers to Shake Shack but overall a great experience!

Delicious stop at the Inner Harbor!!! Such a great taste combination...juicy cheeseburger, salty fries & sweet milkshake. You just can't go wrong with Shake Shack. Truly a fat kids paradise!!

Finally got to shake shack and im super happy. Got a smoke shack, fries, and a st pattys concrete shake. This place is cute. I love the lighting and over all feel of the place. I do think the prices are a touch tok high for burgers but its on par with 5 guys so I guess im being conditioned to pay high prices for burgers c'est la vie. Getting over sticker shock the burger was great. Juicy a little spicy from the peppers and im a super fan of thr shake sauce. I got some to take home im not sure what im gonna put it on but its going on something The shake was great too it was a piece of blueberry pie smack dab in vanilla custard. And for a person who doesn't like pie i was surprised this shake hit the spot. Shake shack has a new fan

Finally finally finally! Shake Shack in Baltimore opened! After hearing about the long lines on the weekends I opted for a later than usual (8pm) dinner on a weeknight. The restaurant was still crowded and we got one of the last tables available. The ordering process was simple and we were seated for only about 10 minutes before our food was ready. My burger wasn't cooked as well done as I would have liked it but it still had good flavor. The crinkle cut fries are AMAZING! My only complaints would be the cleanliness of the restaurant and the bathroom situation. Our table and most of the others were dirty and sticky. I had to wipe it down before we ate but there were extra staff hanging out chatting that could have been keeping an eye on the tables. The bathrooms were also confusing as I watched patron after patron walk up to the door with a coded lock. I'm not surprised to see that the doors need a code to open since it is located in the harbor and you never know who is coming in just to use the bathroom. People were unaware that the bathroom code was on their receipts and would clear their trash before heading to the restroom. Maybe it would helpful for the person taking the order to point it out when handing over the receipt. I am so glad that Shake Shack has made it's way to the Inner Harbor and really hope it draws a crowd!

I came on a Saturday around 1PM and as expected this place was absolutely insane. Good food, but avoid on the weekend! Stopped by and ordered two burgers and a concrete (which is a scoop of ice cream with some toppings). Both burgers were good. The shackmeister burger was very tasty, but also quite pricy. Many area sit-down type restaurants have as good or better burgers for nearly the same price. I was expecting a little more than a baseball sized burger for the price. Next came the experience in this location. It is a cool spot, and I'm glad that Baltimore is getting popular, but holy cow this place was busy on a Saturday. I think they are a little small, with just around 15 tables, demand far outpaced supply. I witnessed a few fights over tables in the short time we were there. With no hope of finding a table, I changed the order to to-go. I probably should have waited outside because there wasn't really anywhere to wait. People kept bumping into me trying to slide by, the line for the water was even long. I recommend trying out the shack on a weekday, or at off peak hours. At peak times, avoid at all costs unless you like being sandwiched by a hoard of people.

Finally got around to trying this place. The line, on a beautiful Friday, was a tenth of the usual size since they opened. We ordered the Coffee and Donut concrete, my boss specifically wanted to try this, plus they had several signs advertising it. After a very long wait, the buzzer finally went off, only to be told that they didn't have the donuts needed. I asked the manager why they would (A) leave out special signs to promote a product they don't have (B) not let the cashiers know this (C) make us wait so long to let us know they didn't have it. The answer was a very unapologetic (D) I am a clueless manager.

Made my first trip to the new Shake Shack location in the inner harbor! It is right across from the aquarium. I used to live near one in NYC, and have been waiting for this moment for years. It's dangerous that it's so close to my apartment. I have instituted a rule that I am only allowed to go if I walk there. I'm not a big hamburger/fries person, but something about shake shack's food is just so delicious to me. It's salty, greasy, well-seasoned, and more interesting than your typical burger and fries. The rolls are good, the meat has good seasoning, the fries are very flavorful and crispy and the cheese sauce enhances them. It's higher quality cheese sauce than you would usually find, and I think it even contains real cheese! This location does a good job of picking up local flavor. They incorporate local baked goods into their shakes, and offer an assortment of Baltimore beers and wines. They also have the requisite old bay available, lest the natives get upset. I didn't try the concretes or ice creams, but they looked like they had some awesome unique local inspirations. Like all Shake Shacks, this one has the issue of overcrowding. You think you're being clever by going at 3 PM on a weekday? Wrong! Huge line, no seats. I don't know why they have it laid out the way they do, but the line is forced to crowd into an awkward triangular area, and will no doubt have to extend out the door once tourist season is in full swing. That's probably part of the plan to entice more patrons, actually. They are also building a Chick-fil-a next door, so I can't even imagine the volume of people between those two restaurants. But it will be worth it for that burger and fries!

I mean I'm no burger connoisseur, but this place is pretty legit. My husband was pretty excited to know he didn't have to go to NYC or in our case, DC to get shake shack, so here we go! The place is definitely a mad house. But I guess the good kind. Since it's right in the inner harbor, you expect a place like this to be hustling and bustling. Great place to take your kids because they can be as loud and obnoxious and it wouldn't be too big of a deal since it can hopefully be drowned out by the collective noise of the place (unless your kid is really loud, then I can't help you there). We came on a Sunday around noon and expected a huge crowd to be there for the lunch rush. It took maybe 10-15 minutes to be in line and order and then another 20 minutes to actually get the food. But hey, you're here for the experience, so enjoy it. Our almost 2 year old seemed to be enjoying all the commotion that was happening around her. I ordered a simple cheeseburger. Delish! Very juicy, and had nice melted cheese. I mean that's all I asked for and that's what I got =) Our daughter got a grilled cheese which we wouldn't normally shell out money for, but hey, we were feeling generous ;-). She enjoyed it very much. The fries were also on point. I just wish there was a "large" size so we wouldn't have to get back in line to get more. Anyway, definitely should try if you're at the inner harbor!

I've been to the Shake Shack in D.C. before, and I wasn't impressed then, but a lot of the reason for that was because the place was so crowded that we couldn't even sit down in peace and eat. I don't expect ambiance of any kind - it's a burger joint - but, seriously, if you have to bang heads in order to just sit down and enjoy your food, it's not worth attempting to go there. The Baltimore version of SS isn't quite that bad, but the line is definitely bordering on the ridiculous. Must be because it's new. I hope so. Hubs and I decided to try this place out after we discovered Five Guys across the street was closed (at 4:30 in the afternoon? On a Sunday?). We'd both been before, so we knew what to expect, food-wise. So, let's cut to the chase here. He ordered a ShackBurger (double), and regular fries. I ordered a 'ShroomBurger and regular fries. Black and white shake for him, a single Salty Balty for me. They don't offer the Salty Balty in D.C., it's a local thing, so I was looking forward to trying it out. Now, I will say this - the burgers were good. The 'ShroomBurger was REALLY good, as a matter of fact - lots of cheese oozing out of a perfectly done portobella. And the fries were good, too - they're not the shoestring crap offered in the D.C. location, but good, thick crinkle-cuts. Not bad. I don't know about Hubs's shake, but that Salty Balty? Whoa, Nelly. It's a damned good thing my diabetes is under tight control, because if it weren't, that sucker would have equaled a hospital trip. Seriously, it was THAT sweet. I had difficulty finishing it - and it was a SINGLE. I can't imagine anyone needing a double of this. At all. Under any circumstance. Don't get me wrong, okay, it was GREAT. But way way way way WAY too much. Next time I'm going to stick with a plain shake or custard. So why only 3 stars? The value for the money is NOT here, people. This place, like the D.C. location, is a tourist trap. Thirty dollars for two burgers, two fries and two shakes? For real? I mean, come on, it would be different if the fries were at least hand-cut, but these are just plain crinkle-cut fries that I could get at the Giant for 2.29 a bag. Come ON. The shakes were the pricy part, which I get. If we'd just ordered those, I think it may have been worth the money, but combined with the food - no. Sorry. Thirty dollars for this is NOT a good value by any means. Hubs made me go out to the Royal Farms only 2 hours later for a chicken box - so we know it didn't satisfy him, for sure. The food was good. The service was excellent - the girls at the door and the counter were sweet. But the hellish lines combined with the expensive price point and the too-small quantity, well... it's not likely we'll be coming back here any time soon. Maybe for a shake. If I want to gag on sugar. Strictly for the tourists.

I was stoked to have my first dining experience at Shake Shack. That waned when I was introduced to their prices and portion sizes. I did enjoy my burger but disappointed that combos are not offered. A shake was the size of a kid's meal drink and it was $5 so that was a sore spot. For the fries (also ala carte), they were crinkle cut and they have Old Bay available for them. There are only two bathrooms at this location for customers. I personally stood in line for 10 minutes and was gratefully I didn't have to do the "dance" prior to someone coming out after roosting in there. The seating arrangement seemed close but offered a lot of seating. The employees have to remember that when they vent about their least favorite co-worker ....we can hear you.

Shaaake Shaaaack is a littllllle place where... Annoying inner harbor parking situation. If you're willing to walk 2-3 blocks you can park for cheap/free if you go north towards Baltimore St. This place is packed during the day but relatively empty in the evening. Dining area was clean and staff was friendly. After my second visit tonight I feel comfortable saying this is my favorite fast or fast-casual chain burger ahead of Bobby's Burger Palace and Five Guys. They smash the patties on the flat top with a spatula while they cook to develop a nice crust on the outside. Contrary to popular opinion, this does not make burgers dry or crumbly - we aren't using 93/7 ground beef and murdering it to well-done here. The cheese is melty and holds everything together nicely. It's not as large volumetrically as any other double cheeseburger I've had, but after giving it 5 minutes in my stomach it felt pretty heavy. The fries are crispy and salty but not super flavorful like Five Guys' fries or any other freshly cut fries. They do have Old Bay on the counter though (possibly a Baltimore thing?), and that's enough to make any potato tasty.

Shake Shack in Baltimore....Yas!! Great location right near the Gallery across Inner Harbor. Have been here three times since it opened. I always get the shakemeister burger with those crispy onions and a strawberry shake. I had the fries the first time but I try to save $ by not getting them. The burger is fresh and oh so yummy! It is a little pricey. You can easily spend $15 or more here for your meal, so watch the extras! The only negative is the seating area. When you first arrive have a member of your party get you a seat. Otherwise it is very hard to find a place to eat as it is usually crowded. I have only been during lunch and dinner which are two of the busier times. It probably won't be as crowded when the Chick fi la opens next door, so seating shouldn't be a problem for much longer...I hope!

Just as good as the NYC original! I was so excited to hear that Shake Shack would be opening in bmore and it was definitely worth the wait (without having to wait at all.) Unlike NYC, you don't have to stand outside for 2+ hours in line but can still enjoy the simple yet perfect burger and crinkle fries. Bonus- they have local specialities for their Concretes which include mix Ins from Dangerously Delicious!

A good place for an occasional splurge... But doesn't quite live up to the hype. Burgers and fries comparable to 5 guys, but shakes are amazing. Tips: Keep your receipt as you will need the code on it to use the bathroom (really takes the class down a major notch). Go at an odd time or it will be packed.

So its cool that shake shack just opened in baltimore since I had never had it before, but i personally prefer the burger at five-guys and the vanilla milkshake and french fries at chickfila. I've had the shackmeister and shack burger both with bacon. I like the shackmeister better as the fried onions add a little something to it. I don't like the cheese fries and perfer the fries without the cheese at shake shack As for the milkshake, I usually like the vanilla milkshake but at shakeshack I prefer the caramel milkshake, it's not to "caramelly" (if thats even a word), but actually tastes more like vanilla with a little more flavor than their actual vanilla shake.

Finally was able to check out shake shack today as part of Shack Track and Field which is a monthly event they are hosting in partnership with Charm City Run. Every 2nd Tuesday of the month meet at 7 pm at charm city run in McHenry Row and go for a community run of 3-5 miles which ends at shake shack...the best part is you get any drink (including shakes!) on the house as a reward for your efforts. It was a great way to get a workout in and get to enjoy a beautiful evening in the harbor. I would definitely check it out...and everyone runs at their own pace so all levels even walk/joggers are welcome! The restaurant itself has a cool open concept, there's some outdoor seating and community tables. The workers were friendly and moved quickly to accommodate our large group. I ordered the shroom burger, a breaded and fried mushroom stuffed with melty cheese and my bf got a regular burger topped with one of those fried mushrooms. We also split an order of fries and the salty balty concrete. We both agreed the food was delicious but didn't feel like it was much different than other comparable burger joints. The mushroom burger is great if you are a cheese fan and its a nice option for vegetarians which isn't your usual veggie burger. I'd love to see a turkey burger option in the future. My favorite parts of the meal were actually the fries (super crispy for being crinkle cut) and the custard (swirled with brownie bites and blonde pieces and very salty which I liked but may be too much for some). I think I'd be back more often if everything was just a bit cheaper ...its a bit too expensive to justify coming often. However I may be back for another track and field event !

I recently visited this new location of Shake Shack with a colleague and we both were somewhat underwhelmed. The burgers were tasty and looked nice, but the location was a bit crowded. It was a little over 15 dollars for a basic burger, fries, and a shake, and the fries and shake weren't generously sized and were nothing special. Overall, I'd say Shake Shack is good for a quick bite to eat but I wouldn't be rushing to return. There are plenty of other quick service venues in the area.

Review is for Dessert Only! We don't have these in SoCal and Shake Shack just IPOed so I wanted to see what the appeal may or may not have been. I got the Creamsicle Float - you, however, should not. It was something like one scoop of custard to however much orange soda fills the cup -- I ate the custard and threw the soda away. That being said, the Custard was awesome and I will absolutely get it every time. Need to try the burger, and I will, and update this review again once I've had it

I am so excited to have Shake shack in B'more! I have been here several times now and every time surprised for the short wait. I remember i had to wait alot for the few locations in NYC. Most of the time I will get a shake burger, fries and a milkshake! I LOVE their milkshakes- soo goood! I had tried their new burgers but didn't liked them so much. So I'm sticking with the regular ones. They are a bit pricy compared to the California In&Out; however it is still one of my favorite burger chains in the east coast!

This is my 2nd visit. First time ordering food. I got the shake stack burger which is a regular burger topped with a portobello mushroom. This mushroom is fried on the outside but once you bite into it, cheese oozes out of it and it tasted very good. If you're a cheese lover and like mushrooms then I recommend the burger. I also got the cheese fries which were good and I topped them with old bay. The cashier made sure I was aware about what was on my burger. The wait time for my food was about 12 minutes. The burger pattys seem smaller than at 5guys. However, I am pretty stuffed since mine had the stuffed cheese portobello mushroom on it. Great taste, line isn't too long as long as you get there before 12. I'm not too thrilled with the price. This shake stack burger itself is $9.49, cheese fries $ 3.95 and a reg lemonade $2.75 runs you about $17.17. Is it worth it? Maybe once in awhile.. worth 4 stars since the price is hefty. The restaurant itself was clean, seating was available, workers came around asking if I was enjoying my meal. There is a code on your receipt if you need to use their restroom which helps prevent homeless people from loitering their facility. However, the weather is warming up and more of the pan handlers are out at the inner harbor and today in front of the building. Just be aware of your surroundings and you should be fine.

I've heard a lot about this place, and I really thought I'd be disappointed. Nope! The fries were nice and crispy, just right for fast casual restaurant fries, to be honest. The burger I had was great. It was not anything super special beyond any other fast casual burger (Five Guys, Z-Burger, etc), but it definitely was great. I loved every bite of it. This and the fries would've gotten four stars, but that fifth star... That's coming up! So, the reason this gets a fifth star is the vegetarian option that my girlfriend got. Oh boy! You can get a mushroom burger plenty of places, sure. But you can't get a breaded mushroom burger stuffed full of cheese sauce just anywhere. The only place I've seen that is here... And I was told it was absolutely amazing... And the bite I took of it suggested as much. I wish I could've tried a milkshake, but we were in a hurry that day. Also, super thanks to Shake Shack for being one of the few places open downtown when the National Guard was down there and nothing bad was going on... Shake Shack had the balls to open. (So did Chick-fil-A, but their A/C was off when it was 80 outside, so Shake Shack gets all of the points for that.)

Finally, a Shake Shack in Baltimore! Visited this one which is located across from the Inner Harbor and it was packed on a Sunday. Waited 10 minutes in line and then it took another 20 minutes to get my food. I got the Shack Stack which comes with the fried portabello mushroom and a burger with shack sauce and it was delicious. I also got the crinkle cut fries and black and white milkshake. I really love the burger here but compared with Five Guys, one burger just doesn't fill me up. You are paying about $10 for a Shack Stack or about $6 for a Shack burger and with fries which only comes in one size and is pretty small and a shake, you are easily spending about $15 per person. While I really enjoy the food here, it's not the cheapest fast food burger but I would still come back.

I have mixed feelings about Shake Shack. Now that I have been three times (twice in Baltimore and once in DC -- nope, never in NYC), I have formed a pretty solid opinion. First, the prices are a little bit ridiculous. I always end up sending $15+ here just because I want to be able to get a burger, fries, and some kind of shake or custard. The burgers are really not anything special in my opinion, but it's hard to justify just getting fries and a shake! (And I'm not a hot dog fan.) [I have tried the ShakeShack burger and the ShackMeister and neither were great IMO.] The fries are good, but again, not amazing. (Pretty delish dipped in the frozen custard!) I one time tried the beer specially made by Brooklyn Brewery and it was terrible. They had just kicked the keg and started a new one, and I don't know if this might have affected the taste somehow, but it was really bordering on gross, and I like beer! However, the custard and shakes ARE really, really great. And given the location, this would definitely be my go-to if I wanted some frozen custard on a hot day while wandering the Inner Harbor. Forget Rita's, a custard here is cheaper and just as good (it not better) with larger serving! YUM. I believe I tried one of the concretes in DC and felt that I preferred just a plain custard or shake. And of course, unless you come on a really off time you will probably be waiting in line to order, waiting a while for your food, and having to go into hunter mode to get a table, but it's probably worth doing once at least!

So there are a few challenges to visiting this Shake Shack in Baltimore: limited (almost nonexistent) parking, longish lines depending on the time of your visit, and if you're really uppity about how much you pay for your burger and fries you might be a bit put off. But, seriously, get over it and just try it once so you can compare it to your current burger allegiance (Five Guys, In N' Out, Alley Burger Bistro, et al.) Shake Shack is the only place five minutes from my home that I can get a burger with crispy shallots, the Shackmeister Burger is heaven for me. The fries are a perfectly adequate adjunct, but I'm set with the burger and a coffee shake. It's satisfying, their menu items are made with good quality ingredients and they're so bloody busy, you know everything is made fresh to order. Seriously, do you really need that $15?

Our order included a "Concrete" and a Vanilla Malt. The malt, while reasonably tasty (but nothing special), could just as easily have been some soft vanilla bean ice cream. It was certainly too thick to be a "malt", and if they are going to sell this product they need to provide spoons with a larger diameter. The Concrete is the source of the real troubles here. The menu says "chocolate custard, fudge sauce, cookie dough, chocolate chunks, topped with chocolate sprinkles." (I uploaded an image showing this.) Our concrete came with NONE of that. Apparently all these things are optional, and as first-time customers we didn't know that, and the cashier asked no questions. Therefore, we essentially bought an overpriced cup of ice cream. With nothing in it. Two stars instead of one because things were okay tasting, but these are some real issues. ************ UPDATE: The issue was explained that the menu board didn't look right because apparently some other guests stole the "Shack Attack" label that should have been there. We didn't order the right thing because the menu was messed up. So it's not really their fault. Their corporate office forwarded my complaint to the store, who handled this with very much class. Kudos to you. I'll visit again if I'm in the area.

Small Shake, small fries and small burger - $15 - got to you in about 15 minutes. 5 dollars for a shake - the size of a tall at starbucks - is a bit steep. It would be nice if they would just up the price a buck and bring up the size of this one. After all - that was the best part of the trip, its a shame the shake barely lasted the 10 minute walk back to the office. It was wonderfully thick and creamy - so I may go back for another, but I'll think of it as a splurge. The burger was a fast food style flat burger on a buttered roll with a single slice of lettuce and a bit of tomato.People rave about it- but it reminded me of a Five Guys burger without the options for toppings. It was okay - but just not great. I wouldn't wait in line for one - but if I saw one off the highway and needed a quick greasy burger (the buns are basically soaked in butter) this would be my first choice over most other fast food joints. The fries - crinkle cut with a side of cheese sauce - was surprisingly tasty. I actually enjoyed the sauce (sort of like a nacho cheese). In the end, it was a tad on the small size for an order of fries... but compared to the lunch bag full you get at Five Guys that I always seem to finish - I'm not sitting comatose at my desk after finishing it so that's not too bad. My overall opinion - the burgers aren't quite as good as five guys, but the shakes are worth the stop over for, even if they are either too small or too expensive. The complaint I have with Five Guys, Z Burger and now this place are too common - there is no good lunch combo offer. A burger served with reasonable amount of fries (more here, less at Z burger and Five Guys) with a drink and fries for around 10 bucks would be amazing. 12 bucks if it was with a small shake.

This is a chain, so I wasn't expecting anything outstanding but the burgers are awesome and juicy and fresh. Also the crinkle cut fries were delicious. I sprinkled old bay on everything.

I was hoping to have a new and exciting burger place in Baltimore. I was disappointed when I decided to try shake shack. Forget about finding a place to park; I don't mind this if it's good. It started with a long line, rude staff and no available seating. The burgers were not anything special and lacked flavor. They do not offer a selection of cheese and do not have a good variety of toppings. Unless you don't mind having no place to sit and overpriced burgers that are mediocre. Go somewhere else!

I had been Shake Shack in NYC and after we relocated the burgers were never same for me. I was glad to run in to Shake Shack here and devoured the burger in seconds. The patty was soft, juicy and flavorful. The fries were perfect and Shakemeister Ale was a good accompaniment. A little pricey but worth it. Give it a go!

Finally! We have been waiting for the opening of Shake Shack. Having never been, I was very excited to learn that the first MD location was opening only a block from my office downtown. A group of my co-workers and I trekked through the snow this AM to check it out; we were hoping that yesterday's opening day had helped alleviate some of the crowd, as well as the fact that last night's snowfall may have caused a lot of people to stay home from work today. The doors open at 11 AM; we got there at 10:40 to try to beat the crowd, which we did. By the time the doors opened, there were about 15 of us in line and our group was the first. The line moved quickly and efficiently. You place your order at the counter, and they give you a pager that goes off when your food is ready. The line was to the door the whole time that we were there, and it wasn't even close to lunchtime. The space is very large and clean, and very industrial. We all sat at one of the high top tables to chat while we waited. Our various food orders were called very quickly and they were all accurate. Amazing for a brand new place on Day 2 dealing with this level of volume. I ordered the single Shackburger, a lone patty with American cheese, lettuce, tomato and "Shack Sauce" a Thousand Island/Secret Sauce type of condiment, all on a potato roll. I took a nibble of the crusty flattened beef patty to try that first and was taken aback by the salt level. I am very sensitive to salt and I was afraid that I was going to hate it since it was so salty. When you eat the burger as a whole though, it is great! I was so glad, as I really wanted my experience to live up to the hype. It was a really good burger in its entirety, flavorful, and the ingredients were very fresh. I was impressed that their tomatoes were so nice considering you can go to other places this time of year and their supplies are just gross. I am not a French fry person and their crinkle cut fries did not impress me by their look so I did not try them, although my friend said that the cheese sauce that you can order for them is great. I did try a single Salty Balty Concrete, a mix of soft serve chocolate and vanilla custard with mix-ins of chocolate truffle cookie dough, cheesecake blondie and sea salt. The single was definitely enough, I will be able to nibble on this all week by keeping it in the freezer at the office. All in all, this was a good experience and I will be back even though it is a bit pricey (but so is everywhere downtown). The food was good, the staff was friendly and they move quickly which will be very important for lunch hour during the week. And I will most certainly be stopping by for carry out after work to take back to the county!

Finally... Shake Shack in Baltimore. Same standard of goodness as its New York establishments with a hint of Baltimore flavors. Think old bay and custard concretes with local desserts. Love that there are new specials in food and desserts. Love that lines are reasonable as compared to New York. Love that the patties are still juicy. Love the occasional samples. Don't love that the bathrooms are locked with a password that's printed on your receipt. As with Shake Shack in general, portions are smaller and prices are higher than the likes of other fast food burger chains. But... it's Shake Shack.

So my boyfriend lived in Brooklyn for over a year and, despite our best attempts, we never made it to Shake Shack. Needless to say, we were stoked they made it to Baltimore. While running errands on a glorious grown-up snow day (that extended our weekend to 4 days!) we decided to poke into the Shack for a burger, fries, and shake. Warning: the line has been SUPER long since the place is brand new. We waited about 30 minutes, both in line and for our food. The line was out the door, but manager was passing out generous samples of salted caramel hot chocolate though, so we were okay with it. I had a classic shackburber (the classic cheeseburger), boyfran had the smokeshack (cheeseburger with bacon and diced spicy cherry peppers), and we split fries and the Pratt Street Pie milkshake. Oh mah gahhhh. That milkshake. It was creamy vanilla custard blended with a slice of blueberry pie from B-more institution Dangerously Delicious. Very cool. This was definitely one of the best frozen treats I've ever had in my life. The fries are golden, fresh, and crispy. The burgers are well-seasoned, juicy, and the shake sauce is amazeballs. We also sampled their house beer from Brooklyn Brewery, which paired extremely well with the burger. The employees are EXTREMELY friendly and pleasant, and we enjoyed chatting with the guy working at the door. The entire place is clean and very bright, with lots of seating options from booths, to two-tops, to large long high top tables running down the center of the dining area. We tried to get takeout for my family, but long lines and time running out on the parking meter foiled us. We'll be back with the whole gang real soon!

OMG! Where do I begin! I am totally stoked that we finally have a Shake Shack in Charm City! We went back in June, 2015 and I have been raving about it ever since! We love love love, their Shackmeister Burger especially for their just enough crunch and flavor fried shallots! OMG! These Crispy Fried Shallots are amaZing! Ask extra on the side, they will give it to you, no charge! I also love their fixin's bar where they give you complimentary all you care to drink water! I love this because I only drink water, and it's free! We can't argue with Free!! They also have Charm City's finest, OLD BAY seasoning for your taking too! I like them on my fries. Their crinkle cut fries taste like their frozen counterparts, nothing to write home about! They are at best blah, and for their price, I'd stay away!! I'd rather spend 1/2 the cost, at roughly $2 next door at the Chick Fil A for their amazing waffle fries and feel good about my $ savings and getting bigger portions too! Then I can bring back those same waffle fries in to use Shake Shack's complimentary Old Bay seasoning while we dine in at Shake Shack! ( I don't know about you, but I prefer the decor at Shake Shack over Chick Fil A) It's a win-win for everybody! Shake Shack's shakes are are amazing! At $5, you can get a small. When we went for my son's birthday, we just told the cashier, next thing you know, the whole Shake Shack crew erupted into a personal Happy Birthday Cheer just for my son! And he got a FREE Iced custard with sprinkles! How's that for a happy birthday! This mom is SOLD on Shake Shack for sure!! Now... about those yummy Fried Shallots...

It's been a year or two since I've had Shake Shack (in NYC) and I remember liking it quite a bit, so I was excited to try the Baltimore shack. I was just talking with a NY friend over the weekend and he said I had to get the double Smoke Shack (with bacon and diced cherry peppers), so I went with that. Got the wife a single ShackBurger and we split some fries and a caramel shake. Wife (who is from CA so obviously an In-N-Out fiend but also loves Five Guys) said her burger was "meh". I took a bite and I have to say I agree. I really liked the Double Smokeshack, but at $9.50 I'm not sure it's that good. It reminds me of a Five Guys burger but I think I would give a slight edge to Five Guys taste wise, and then when you take into account the fact that Five Guys double is a decent amount cheaper, I think Five Guys takes a comfortable lead. The fries were OK but nothing special. They kind of remind me of the fries we used to get in high school at the cafeteria. Five Guys cajun fries absolutely demolish them and I think I'd also take In-N-Out fries over Shake Shack's. The caramel shake was delicious, but for $5.50 it better be. I think the shakes at In-N-Out are a little over $2, so... yeah. I'm not going to lie, I went from really excited to pretty disappointed quick. I think I ignored Public Enemy at my own peril and bought into the hype. The SmokeShack is pretty great but doesn't justify the price, the regular burger and fries were meh, the shake was great but expensive. I'm sure I'll give it another try but I have a feeling I'll still keep going to Five Guys for the majority of my fast burger fixes. Shake Shack IMO is just a little too expensive for what you're getting.

I was walking in the Harbor one afternoon when out of the corner of my eye, I saw a beautiful site - the newly opened Shake Shack. I've long been a fan of Shake Shack in NYC, but to have one in Baltimore? I think i'm going to cry tears of joy. I like to keep it simple and their ShackStack never disappoints. The meat is super juicy and seasoned magically. The bread and the fixins are balanced just right. Add a order of their crinkle cut fries? That's how to "treat yoself!" Since it just opened, the line can be pretty long around dinner-time. I'd definitely suggest having someone stake out a table and have another person wait in line to order. Great for a quick bite or a casual hang-out with friends (they have several beers on tap as well). I know, I know, it's a little pricey for a burger. But it really is quite delicious! I'll definitely be back on my treat myself days :)

So, i have been a groupie for shake shack since i first tried it in their flagship store in NY in 06, since then i have been trolling them lol in a good way. I go to Dc every now and then to get my fix in, so it should come as no surprise that i was ecstatic when i heard it was coming to Baltimore. My expectations were through the roof when i heard it was going to open yesterday, and of course i was going to be there. Everybody i guess has their personal preferences, i have had every type of burger from In and Out, 5 guys, Good Stuff, Ray's Hell burger, almost all the local burger joints. Yeah this is still the best for fast food, strawberry milk shake and my double shack burger. Enjoy...

I wanted to like you, Shake Shack, but it just didn't work out between us. It's not me, it's you. My fiance and I grabbed lunch here over the weekend after spending a few hours at the aquarium. We'd heard good things and figured hey, we're almost never in the Inner Harbor, so let's give it a shot. He's a burger type of guy and I'm a vegetarian, but I had faith that Shake Shack would have something I could grub on. I ended up ordering a Coke and the shroom burger, which sounded delicious on the menu description, my fiance ordered a burger (I can't remember what it was specifically) and a chocolate shake, and we split an order of fries. The total came to around $25. When our buzzer finally alerted us that our food was ready, we were surprised at the small portion sizes of our respective burgers. We were also surprised that my fiance's $5 milkshake was so tiny. He seemed to like his burger okay, and he said the milkshake wasn't bad but also wasn't worth the money it cost. The fries tasted like McDonald's fries, and I could have gotten the same fries for a fraction of the price by hitting up the local grocery store and grabbing a bag of frozen Ore Ida's. My shroom burger was kind of gross. At first, I had high hopes. It looked like a delicious, crispy, deep fried piece of heaven. The minute I bit into it, it popped on the side and some of the cheese filling started to ooze out. I'm not gonna lie, it was kind of like biting into and popping a giant zit. Not a great first impression there, shroom burger. It was also so greasy that, by the time I was nearing the last few bites, I had to throw in the towel or risk gagging. One more thing to nitpick: the staff were kind of rude. They keep their soda fountain behind their counter, and when I went up to ask for a refill of my Coke, after waiting about a minute for the girl behind the counter to notice that I even existed, she greeted me with, "Yeah, you want something?" That's not exactly service with a smile.

I can't believe the first time I went to Shake Shack, it was in Baltimore (not NYC). I have never wanted to wait in line in Manhattan but glad I was able to sample during my trip to Baltimore. First thing I noticed about Inner Harbor is that parking just sucks. I paid $18 to have lunch! I got the Shackmeister which was delicioius. The young ones got the chicken apple sausages which they enjoyed immensely and the moms in the group were very happy to note the favorable nutritional content. We got a round of fries, one with cheese topping and they were good too. Three people got shakes but it was noted that no one could tell the difference between vanilla and caramel. We fed four adults and 3 little ones for about $75 which I thought was good. I wish there was a Shake Shack near me because I bet it would be awesome for take out.

Pure deliciousness! But an awkward location. Shake Shack is known for two things: their burgers and their shakes. That's a good thing, as it means they don't screw around with nonsense they aren't good at. This particular location is located on Pratt, meaning that parking is either unavailable or very expensive, but it isn't impossible to get to. The burgers and fries here rule. The burger I got was perfectly hot and tender in all the right ways, and the accompanying condiments and ingredients set it off perfectly. The fries were freaking perfect. I wish I had gotten a shake! Can't do a better burger than this - try it!

3.5 SURROUNDING: inner harbor, tourist/safer area of baltimore street parking or random nearby lots SERVICE: expect to wait outside in line, employees are decent- they did forget to refill my coke for 15 min as I waited infront of them, but the place is crazybusy so understandable. It's going to be a hassle to find seats- but it's like that at every shake shack. You will probably have people standing around and waiting to take your seat while you eat FOOD: I had shack burger and fries, it was good enough. I like shake shack for their meat seasoning. The bun was sweet, but it had extra oil glazed on top. Fries were fine. I've had shake shack in NY and DC, I would say NY (4.5 stars), DC(4), Bmore(3.5) PRICE: ~10 BOTTOM LINE: If I craved a burger and was wiling to wait, I would come here.. but if it was cold or if I had a large group, I would probably go to five guys across the street. If I wanted a good burger, would go to abbey burger bistro

Being a fast food burger joint makes it hard to review. Especially some other reviewers giving it poor reviews compare shake shack to other fast food joints. Having said that, shake shack on its own is a great burger joint. Having come across it in NYC, I was glad to find it here in Baltimore. My favorite is the shack stack (angus beef with a froed portobello stuff with cheese) hmmm... That burger makes my salivary glands squeeze like crazy. It is all you want in a burger = meaty, cheesy, salty and greasy. It doesn't get any better than that. Sure in n out might be "better?" Or five guys? They are just different burger joints offering different types of burgers. As a burger aficionado... You would be foolish not to give shake shack a try.

Very nice. Upbeat atmosphere, new clean facilities, solid staff and service. The burgers are delicious and the fries are pretty good, but it's just a bit on the pricey side. They do serve wine and beer, I saw a very nice looking woman of a certain age enjoying a glass of Chardonnay with her burger and fries at lunch time in the middle of the week, cheers ma'am. My only complaint is I paid over $2.00 for a small lemonade that was mostly ice! Overall, A-Ok!

Shake Shack is officially open in Baltimore! For opening day the line surprisingly moved quickly. The employees were extremely energetic and accommodating; even delivering hot chocolate to those of us waiting in line outside in the freezing cold! The layout is well organized which helped with the flow of people and didn't make it feel over-crowded. Seating was a little bit of a struggle, but expected for opening day. Pretty sure my friends and I didn't talk at all when we were eating, which you know is always a good thing. I had to go with the classic Shack Burger, fries, and chocolate milkshake. All 3 surpassed my expectations for a "fast food" restaurant. I'll be dreaming about the Shack Sauce (on the burger) for days.

Really nice location... First off I'm a huge In N Out guy. This place is good but it doesn't compare to In N Out or Five Guys. Solid cheeseburger and cheese fries... Problem is I'm a grown man and if I pay like $18 for a cheeseburger, cheese fries and a milkshake, I want to be full and satisfied. I don't get that feeling after Shake Shack. The milkshake was good but it's not a Chick Fila milkshake.

Yes, there's a Shack Shack in Baltimore!!! I've come here at least four times, and it's always really busy. The first time I waited over 20 minutes for my burgers. I thought it was way too long, but when I had that first bite I forgot I waited that long. It's a typical Shake Shack, this one doesn't differ much from the others, other than they have Old Bay and vinegar in the condiments section for your fries, (and burgers if you want!). Great place to get burgers! Check them out if you haven't already.

Shake Shack Baltimore is everything you could want it to be. It's big, the food is the same quality you'd expect of any shake shack, and it's distinctly Baltimore. How so, you ask? Aside from the personalized Baltimore shakes, the beautiful view of the harbor, and the fun Baltimore shake shack illustration there is... ...wait for it... OLD BAY ON THE CONDIMENTS BAR. Think about this for a minute. Old Bay. On crinkle cut fries. Or in your ketchup. Or on your burger. Or on your ice cream. GO CRAZY WITH THE OLD BAY! I didn't think anything could make Shake Shack crinkle cut fries better, but I was wrong. Because Old Bay. Act like a pro and get it with cheese sauce on the side. You're welcome. Great addition to Baltimore. There is now officially no reason not to move here from DC.

OMG Best Burger EVER !!! I have been on a real burger binge this past few months and man these guys in B-More make me actually want to visit the inner harbor again lol! There burger is juicy and worth the wait in fact it is so good they even messed up my order and I had to wait an extra five minutes but it still won't cost them a star !!!! It is that good:0)

I have never before been to a Shake Shack. I was warned that the shakes were amazing and that the burgers were tiny. At least I wasn't misinformed. I had the Shackmeister burger, got their fries, and the Black and White shake. The burger is delicious. That cannot be denied. It is also tiny. As a person who can devour three full plates at a buffet, I would not come here solely for a filling meal. BUT, the shake is extremely thick and creamy (and also very delicious) and it filled up the rest of my stomach quite well such that I couldn't finish the shake! (I am also not the biggest fan of thick custard-like dairy products, which didn't help haha). I think for people who enjoy shakes, Shake Shack has no equal. For people who eat small meals, Shake Shack also fits the bill. For me, Shake Shack was an interesting experience that I will probably not repeat on my own, but I would go again with friends for a social or snack hour for sure. P.S. Their fries are delicious too. Like, you shouldn't go without getting them.

Mm shake shack, so good! The burgers here are pretty good. Although being from west coast I still prefer in and out - way cheaper and taste way better. But being in Maryland I'll take what I can get. The cheese fries are nothing special. Sometimes the weekly shake special can get really strange sounding so you can never go wrong getting a regular flavor. I would suggest coffee.

My boyfriend and I were super excited to check this place out since it opened in the Habor, but every time we went there was a huge line out the door. We decided to stick around one day and the line actually moved pretty fast, but trying to find a seat was near impossible. We ended up awkwardly sharing a table with another couple so it wasn't the best dining experience. About the food: my boyfriend got the double cheeseburger and I got the single. They were both incredibly mediocre. The patties were really thin, not much taste, and not juicy at all so I ended up smothering it with ketchup and mustard. There was absolutely NOTHING special about it. We also ordered 2 Natty Bohs which were very warm as soon as we got them so we were pretty disappointed. We chugged them anyway and headed out as soon as we could since the restaurant was literally piling up with people everywhere. It was actually a bit stressful eating there because everyone is standing around staring at you, waiting to claim your table. If you want an actual good burger, hit up Smash Burger in Fells Point. I don't think I'll return to Shake Shack.

Went there past saturday afternoon during my g/f lunch break from work. The dining area is nice looking, way too many open glass windows though. You really should wear sunglasses during a sunny day. The menu is kinda small, no chicken? Ok, hot dog chicken, I guess it counts. The prices are kinda high, maybe because it's downtown location? Once the food arrived, they looked small...like the hamburger from micky D's kid meal small. Cheese fries had some kind of weird cheese sauce. The hot dog, it's 5 guys style, sliced in half, what the heck? The restroom is locked, you've to use the code from the receipt. The staff are nice though. However the food is not worth it. It's basically an upgraded 5 guys. I don't mean the food, but I mean their services are upgraded.

Fatty, oily, and expensive. Cross the street to Five Guys for a cheaper and better burger and especially fries. Only plus is that they sell overpriced alcohol.

Reasons I liked this Shake Shack: - The line did not seem that bad (and indoors!). - Street parking is easy to find nearby. - A man passing out samples of custard. - The burger bun closed off on one side (hinged) to make it harder for toppings to fall out. The bun is the best for a burger place. They use Martin's rolls toasted in butter. - The meat with all of its juicy, fresh, seasoned deliciousness. Quality was quite satisfactory. It is made with a custom-designed blend including brisket and short rib. Fun fact: it is peeled off the griddle with a paint scraper. - Old Bay. - Old Bay and cheese fries. Fries were not superb, but a good addition. - Industrial interior. - 5% of sales from "Salty Balty" will be donated to Moveable Feast. - Strategy: have one person scout out tables while you/others buy the food.

The current yelp consensus of 3.5 stars for this place is accurate. (I wish that I could give that rating, instead of rounding down--sorry Shake Shack!) Ate there this afternoon. I ordered a single hamburger (no cheese) with all their standard fixings: lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle and shack sauce. It was a good burger, with detectable beef taste. That said, the burger did not blow me away. I also ordered a chocolate shake. It was pretty good, with a noticeable chocolate taste (not just sugar), and was quite thick (indeed, I had to spoon out the last 10%). Hamburgers are funny: I have never in my life been blown away by a hamburger, but I also have almost never been disappointed either. Hamburgers are almost always good, but never great. I even like McDonalds, Burger King, etc, but I do not crave them. Shake Shack rises above the usual fast food joints, but does not rise enough to beat other good burger joints. For example, here in the Baltimore area, I rate their burgers and shakes as equal to, but no better than, say Red Robin. Would I eat here again? Yes, if I was in the area and the line is short. Would I go out of my way to eat here, or endure their usual long lines? Nope.

I'm a fan of shake shack in general and there are lots of reviews that discuss the food. I'm writing this review simply because they had Fox Sports 1 playing the UEFA Champions League match. That's a nice perk for the soccer fans. I will say this, a milkshake cost me over $5 and next door at Chic-fil-a it's certainly less costly than that.

Went to shake shack last night with some out of town guests and had the worst experience. The food was good but the staff was so unprofessional and loud I almost walked out in the middle of my meal. They were screaming/singing songs at the top of their lungs, I could barely hear the cashier when I ordered and my guests speaking at the table. There were only like 3 other tables in the place and everyone was annoyed, one table even moved outside. Their singing was not entertaining, they were all literally screaming and being roudy, songs were things like the wheels on the bus and Whitney Houston. I'm not sure if the manager was aware or if this is behavior they encourage, but I most definitely will not be back. My guests were also not entertained and didn't enjoy the experience.

$45.90 for 3 Burgers. A Hot Dog. Fries. 3 Shakes and Beer. Not bad! Always loved shake shack. Always will. Maybe it's the crack they use in their shack sauce but it's addictive and never disappointing!

I am really surprised the average reviews aren't at least 4 stars. The Shackburger is one of the best burgers out there, especially for a chain restaurant. I love the special sauce; can't find that anywhere else. Also, the crinkle fries are perfectly crisp. The shakes are very rich and heavy.

I ate at Shake Shack a few weeks ago, they live up to their reputation. I had the a shack burger with crinkle fries. The burger was cooked to about medium, and had fantastic, rich flavor. I haven't had many burgers that good at fast food places. I was hesitant to get the crinkle fries, but they were nice and crisp and worth ordering. Shake Shack is definitely on my hit list when I'm in town and craving a burger.

Line was very long. Cashier was staring into space, as if I wasn't even there. Didn't call me up, so I walked up anyway, broke her out of her daydream. She went thru her motions of taking my order. My buddy was ordering next to me, he asked for the double burger, fries and a coke, received a burger and a coke, no fries. Order took about 15 min to come up. I ordered a hot dog and fries. The soda was ridiculously small for $2.25. It looked like a kid's size. The hot dog tasted very good. The $3 fries were ok. Overall, I think it was way overpriced, service was bad and slow, and there was a serious lack of seating. I will most likely not go back. Chick Fil A is next door, they will get my business.

First time here. Easy menu, friendly staff. All the food was great. Hot dogs, burgers, fries & of course milkshakes. Loved the set up & old bay for the fries. I give it 4/5 due to no kids menu or combos.

First time visiting this establishment. We wanted to grab a bite to eat before we saw Prince in concert. We were kind of limited because it was Mothers Day and we didn't want to go anywhere with a long wait. Shake Shack won the coin toss. The cashiers were very friendly and although the menu board had a lot to choose from, I will be honest and tell you I did t read it! I piggy backed off of my sisters order and kept it moving! I had a single Smokeshack and cheese fries. It wasn't bad, it was better when I added lettuce and tomato. The peppers were a little to much though, I think they could've dialed them back just a pinch! The place got super crowded and there were times when customers just kind of stood around waiting for people to get up and leave so they could sit and eat their food. All and all I would say the place is worth it. It wasn't over priced and the food was good. I will be back!!

I've been here two times now. And it seems every time I come it gets better and better. I got the shake shack burger it's really good. It is a little salty. But it's nothing a caramel malt milkshake can't wash down. Lol!!

It's milk shakes, burgers, and Chicago style dogs... What's not to like? I last came here with a date the day after a formal event. It is the perfect hangover food. PER-FECT. We ate to recover and had a killer afternoon nap. Food coma for sure. Burgers are decent and they offer some unique flavor combinations. It's the Chicago hot dog that I go for though. The place gets packed for lunch so get in early if you can. Staff is friendly and the decor is that of an establishment with a higher price point. Much of the wood is reclaimed and even lists the source of the wood. A nice touch. Comfortable and modern. On a side note, and by no fault of the restaurant, parking can be a chore. There are garages nearby, but on-street parking is limited.

Shake shack is a great option for a fast food burger. It's definitely more expensive than five guys or chipotle or other fast casual but you pay for quality. I wouldn't come here often but it's great as a change of pace.

Have no idea what's up with the bad reviews of the food itself--perhaps lack of seating, parking and service are issues but the food is AWESOME! I have been waiting months for this Baltimore location to open. I've been to several shack shakes in NYC and DC (eaten there at least 15 times) and the Bmore location tasted identical to all my previous experiences. If you are looking for some huge greasy meaty burger with unique toppings--this is not the place for you. If you think what is served as Wendy's or McDonalds can be classified as good burgers--well you are just crazy, but also probably not the place for you. The reason shake shack is so excellent in my opinion is the simplicity of their burgers. No complicated huge bun and just good fresh (never frozen) local beef and perfect produce used in the toppings. The shake sauce is not to be missed by the way. For those who think the meat has no flavor, you are probably only used to meat with tons of fake additives and fillers...just sayin [from the website: 100% all-natural Angus beef, vegetarian fed, humanely raised and source verified. No hormones or antibiotics - EVER. We pride ourselves on sourcing incredible ingredients from like-minded artisanal producers.] Don't even get me started on the fries! I nearly cried when they took away the crinkle cuts last year! Luckily they came to their senses and brought them back--my favorite crunchy fries on the planet (also not frozen btw--you can read all about their practices on their website) So go try this burger when the lines have died down and don't let yourself get overly hyped so you are let down when you don't get a mouthgasm--this isn't a filet at the Prime Rib people, it's a $6 burger and beats any other fast food burger 100:1 Btw if you are not convinced, check out the reviews of Danny Meyers other restaurants--just 25 James Beard Foundation awards amongst them, no big deal....

So Baltimore has a Shake Shack now. Whenever my boyfriend and I are in DC, he always stops in Shake Shack for a milkshake and burger. I was never really tempted to try anything because I don't eat red meat. When I heard that Shake Shack had announced the opening date in Baltimore, I actually kind of got excited and went to check out the menu. Just hoping for a turkey burger. Nope no turkey burger! lol Today I went for lunch. I was the 2nd person in line waiting outside at 10:55 am. They open at 11 am. I ordered my food and noticed that the line was already out the door. WOW! So just plan a little before going. And if you are driving, think about where you might park. I got the Shroom burger, chicken apple sage sausage, and the cheese fries. The fries were actually really good, hot and crunchy. The cheese sauce is a little salty, but i guess that is to be expected with american cheese. The shroom burger was delish! I would definitely order it again. The sausage on the other hand was just not good. It was really rubbery like. All in all, i would probably go back again. Hopefully when the hype of the store has died down a little.

First time trying a shake shack. Heard through Co workers that it had outstanding food, even saying it had the best burger in the business. I've had many a burger in my life, all over the world, and this burger is definitely good, but not better than Five Guys, and not better than the reigning In N Out burger out west. The best way to decribe this place is like a Chipotle for burgers, with a night life component. Personally, I think the serving size here is way too small for the price. Five guys is right across the street and will give you a bag of fries for the price of the fires here. I took my wife and two young kids for lunch (don't worry they are very well behaved). While you can bring your kids, this isn't particularly family friendly even duri my the day. I'd imagine in the evening you'd feel pretty unwelcome with a stroller. I don't love downtown, and won't travel downtown for this place. But I could see this being a nice meet up for singles. Goods: -Better than McDonald's burger Bad: -Way too expensive for serving size -Not for families If Five Guys ever goes classy, it's game over for this place.

Came here on a whim. I've always wanted to try their milkshakes. I was full from lunch so I didn't get to try the food. I got a chocolate shake and added marshmallow to it. Honestly couldn't really taste the marshmallow, maybe they forgot to add it in. But other than that it was pretty good. I'd definitely go back and try the flavor of the week.

Went here today to see what all the fuss was about. Left mildly unimpressed. The place was absolutely packed and we had to wait to get a table. Once we finally sat down there were people crowded all around us waiting for tables, so I felt rushed to eat my meal. I ordered a single shack burger, a hot dog, and fries. The fries were easily the best part. The burger was good, but not great or incredible. Also, the hot dog was just good. The price of the food and the atmosphere kinda killed it for me. I would probably eat it again if my friends wanted to go there, but it's definitely not "amazing" like some people have said.

Good burgers. High prices. It could be that this place is still new: the line was wrapped outside the door. Maybe a 5 - 10 minute wait after you ordered your food. Ordered my food to go. Burgers are well seasoned and the buns are melt in your mouth. Paired my burger with fries and a strawberry lemonade.

I've heard about it as a good place to get shakes and custards. I didn't try the burgers and hot dogs, but only got a shake of the day that was something like Malt Pie. It was too dense that I could only use spoon instead of straw. Besides, it was too sweet that I couldn't finish it and I had to drink water again and again. I don't know why people love such places with too unhealthy things.

Not my first shake shack, but I'm glad we have one a little closer to home. The line here is just as crazy as NYC or DC. I always loved there burgers and they remind me of a gourmet wendy's burger. Better quality of course. Shakes are a must. Downside, the wait and impossible to find parking. How they open deliveryl

Amazing burgers! Try the Smokeshack burger! It has a little kick to it and just tastes great! Very moist and cooked just right! I thought that the grits would be just okay, but they turned out to be amazing! Perfectly crispy with just the right amount of salt. And finally, if you didn't get a shake with your burger, why did you go to Shake Shack?! They don't have the biggest selection of shakes (I think there are only 4 or 5 flavours), but the flavour of week was very good and their upcoming flavour of the week looked unique and just as good!

Was hesitant to come on a Sunday given the past reviews. However, came at 3pm and there was NO queue and plenty of seats! Happy days :) I had the shake burger, cheese fries and a strawberry shake. Total 15$. The shake was awesome and the fries were delicious. The burger tasted fresh and delicious, but there wasn't a lot of meat hence no 5stars. Otherwise it was awesome! Clean tables, clean place, friendly staff. I recommend it (especially above its hateful neighbour next door) ;)

Good quality burger and drinks. The milk shake didn't blow me away but it was fine. I especially like how the burger patties are thin and you don't have to break your jaw trying to eat it like some restaurant burgers. Great flavor on top of that. I had the burger with the onion straws and I'd put it in my top 5 of all time.

We went on a Thursday night after 8pm and the line was not long at all. I got a shroom burger, cheese fries, and a chocolate shake. The shroom burger was the best veggie burger I've had eating out!! I was very impressed. Unfortunately, it's a little bit too expensive. It's just a bit over 7 dollars for one and it's not very large. It's disheartening to see meat option that cost a couple dollars less, too. The cheese fries were delicious. They are crinkle fries topped with a complicated-tasting blend of cheeses. I can't imagine I would ever get the crinkle fries without cheese on them. They didn't look as tasty just by themselves. The chocolate shake was above average, but not stellar. Everything else had beautiful, complex flavors but the shake just tasted pretty normal. Nothing really interesting going on. And I couldn't really taste the quality in it the way I could with the burger and fries. It was fine though. If I had more money, I would eat here like once a month. It was soooo good. Loved the food, but I usually don't want to pay that much for a veggie burger. As a last thought, the portions here are very reasonable and I appreciate that a lot. When it comes to burgers and fries and shakes, you don't need humongous amounts to feel satisfied.

I'm in love with there amazingly great French fries and grilled cheese. Great , fast and efficient service. This is my second time here and my all time fav food is cooked to perfection : French Fries add a some Old Bay and a little ketchup. The only thing that annoys me is the tourist sometimes lol ., Oh and they do serve , Natty Bo ! Whoop whoop and other baltimore favorites and wine , water bottles. And they have Shake Shack apparel as well. I love it ..,yummy !!!

Maybe 4.75 The location is great, if you are walking around. But, on one of the coldest nights in Baltimore history we made the very short drive. Unfortunately, there isn't a lot of street parking so we parked in the surface lot across the street. $10 evening special- ripoff. But, the price to pay for the Shack experience. It was crowded, there was a lady greeting people and handing out menus, a nice touch. Ordering was efficient and friendly. Too bad the seating area wasn't bigger as during peak times it may be tough to find a seat. The burgers are delicious. Perfectly cooked, shake sauce, soft potato roll... mouth watering. The crinkle cut fries, are usually inferior to regular fries, but these were crispy and perfectly salted. Beer and wine available, and tap water faucet by the condiments. The one let down was the concrete. We ordered 3 and each appeared to be a different size. I commented and the server was happy to have them make another. Sadly, it didn't pack the salty/caramel flavor I was hoping for. Oh well. Overall, a fantastic experience similar to the one in NYC and DC. It will continue to be crowded and after the Chick-Fil-A opens next door, it will likely be the most crowded spot in Baltimore. I hope they can maintain the quality and enthusiasm they displayed last night.

I absolutely adore the chocolate shakes. Sometimes I'll just come here for that. The burgers are good. The fries are reminiscent of middle school cafeteria, but not terrible. The thing that IS terrible? The parking. It's $6 for 20 minutes across the street. Otherwise, it's the rarely-vacant street parking that's only on one side of the street and combined with zip car parking. That is what keeps me from coming back.

i've been twice and i'm not sure why i keep going back. this place doesn't compare to the other burger joints. parking = terrible. if you can find close street parking, you're a winner. if you end up parking in a garage or lot, i'm sorry, but you are the weakest link ... and majority of the time you will find yourself to be the weakest link. food = eh! the patties are thin. the cheese fries are good. milkshakes are mediocre. EVERYTHING IS OVERPRICED! service = customer service is good. venue = clean ... for now. overall, my deal breaker here is that you never leave fully satisfied, and that for me is upsetting.

The thing to go here for are the shakes. Best shake in the city. if you want you can even get an "Adult" Shake. The burgers were meh. The buns were wet and soggy. I had a better burger from Shake Shack in D.C, But this place is very cool looking inside and outside. I would def. go back :-)

I feel that everyone hyped up this place too much. Everyone was talking of how Shake Shack had the best food, so I went in with high expectations. But I ended up being very disappointed in the end. I got the Shack Meister Burger ( came with straw onions, scallions, and shack sauce), which was the special burger of the day. For the burger to be made right in front of you, my burger was luke warm when received (they were busy with the amount of food that needed to be made, so the burgers were done before the rest of the order was complete). The burger patty was dry, not juicy, and tasted as if it was a frozen patty that you get from the grocery store. The Cheese Fries were good; the fries were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside and the cheese sauce tasted good. I think the highlight of the meal was the Mango Lemonade, it was delicious!!! It would of been nice to have more of the Mango Lemonade, they fill the small cup all the way to the top with ice, and then put in the lemonade. So, you don't get as much lemonade, and theres no refills! Overall, the meal was just OK, I would rather go get a burger and fries from the Five Guys across the street. Sorry! On the other hand, I love that the walls that you sit by are nothing but huge glass windows. It makes you want to look outside the whole time. The staff was very nice and friendly. There's plenty of seating, however there's not much space in between the booths and tables. I noticed a lady having problems maneuvering a stroller in between the tables.

When I first discovered this place while visiting fin New York I was hooked; I visited three times in a span of four days. I was literally counting down until the opening of the Baltimore location and ended up disappointed. The burger and fries were as delicious as I remembered, but what was missing was the shake (or concrete) that I typically have with my order. Without that special component the meal ending up being average for the price and nor as filling. Shake Shack is good but not worth the price, wait, and having zero breathing room. But if I am craving a good burger, fries and shake it will serve well as a rare treat.

Yes, it's the Grand Opening week, and the line was out of the door. I was hoping everyone was home from work due to the snow, but, no such luck, people were coming in droves to line up to get their burgers. I ordered the ShackBurger and Fries w/Cheese. The Crinkle Cut Fries were good. They have Obay Seasoning over at the Condiment Bar, just an fyi for us Obay Seasoning fanatics. The Shackburger consisted of lettuce, tomato, cheese, and their special sauce. The burger is good, BUT, not Five Guys kind of good. My expectations weren't exceeded, sorry. But the employees are very pleasant, the place clean, TV on the back wall, a go to place with your co-workers or friends and have a cold beer or wine with your burger. My total time over there waiting in line, ordering takeout, and out of the door, was a little over 30 minutes; so if you're on your lunchbreak such as I was, most of your time will be consumed; wasn't worth it to me, and it is a bit on the pricey side. I will give this place another try and order something else on the menu, like the Shackmeister burger. Update/Fastforward to March 9, 2015 - Total wait time for one order of fries.....20 minutes! Thankfully I didn't leave with a cold order of fries, the worker noticed the bag had been sitting there w/out a notification my order was ready, and he swapped the fries out for a hot order of fries. Place is still booming with business, just hope they work out the kinks as we draw closer to Spring/Summer.

A very long time ago, I stood in an hour long line in Madison Square Park. It was pouring rain, but I had to see what all the hype was about. We got our food, put some plastic bags over some wet chairs, and ate our spoils under our umbrellas. I was with a few new yorkers who assured me that the line was short today- it was raining. Since then I've had my share of shake shack, but I never thought it would expand to Bmore. Hence, only Shake Shack opening could induce me to stand outside in line on a 10 degree day. Overall they did pretty well for opening day, and I only froze for 15 min- which is like no line at all in new york :p. But enough rambling... here is the food breakdown: Shackburger: The sauce to burger ratio was off. They need to use more sauce - and for some reason, the sauce was missing the slight tangy sweetness I'm used to. Fries: Awesome. possibly better than the all the Shake Shack fries I've ever consumed. Custard: Yummy and thick as usual. I wasn't able to take more than a few bites of this, but it was so darn cold outside that it stayed frozen for the entire 10 minute walk home. Actually, it was probably more solid than it was when I got it.

Since this place opened 5 weeks ago, I had passed by it, dreading the lines and price I would pay for a burger and a shake. And then one day, I put my big girl pants on and went. Here are my thoughts: -The Line: really not that bad. If you get lucky, you'll be there before a long line of students or a tour group. If not, you'll be on Facebook for a while, or better yet, pondering your next food decision. -The burgers: Yes, they're more expensive than they should be for a "fast food" burger, but they're great. Especially, the Shackmeister burger. The -1 is only because my standard is: LA's In-N-Out burger which is half the price and tastes twice as great. -Shake: Like an old bay shaker...these are amazing. I have yet to try the concrete but if you mix a flavor or two on the shakes it tastes pretty amazing. -Fries: If you're going to do it, get it with cheese. On the side or on top, it really doesn't matter, cause it's amaze! Another con: No parking. :(

Great at moving people thought the line to get your money. But then they make you hover over other people eating to take their table as soon as they stand up. Needs twice as much seating or a better method of seating people. Never coming back.

With gourmet burgers the big trend, Shake Shack finally came to Baltimore. This location is fantastic, right near harborplace. I've had shake shack a few times in DC. The burgers are very good - I also like the cheese fries. It's hard to justify coming here often for the price, but it's a nice treat.

My O My get here ASAP lol. 2 burgers, 1 hotdog, 3 fries, and 3 shakes..43 bucks. Kind of expensive for burgers and fries. But I was really mad at paying 12 to park for 20 mins. I told them well done at the last min. I forgot, but the staff was very nice and accommodating. This place was really crowded and it's small, so we took our food to go. These burgers are sent from heaven!!! 5 guys who?!?! This is the best burger I've had, and worth every penny

Just another burger joint. I honestly had never heard of this chain until today. It was recommended to us by someone we encountered at the National Aquarium in Baltimore. We had no idea it had just opened up. I'm not going to ding them any points for the slow service, the crowded space, or the lack of seating because they just opened...but I will say if your burger joint needs buzzers you are doing it wrong...and they need more seating. A place like this, right in the tourist district, needs more seating. I will only assess them on the food and the decor. As for the latter, it was confused and a little TOO current. I mean, aren't we tired of Edison bulbs yet? The food was acceptable, and it darn well better be at a chain burger joint. I had a plain hamburger, so I could assess the quality of their product without all the adulterations. It was greasy, flavorless, and thin. It wasn't much bigger than a burger at McDonald's for about four times the price. It was served in an annoying paper sleeve that just held in the grease. I also had the crinkle fries. They're just crinkle fries. They were cooked well, but they were nothing special. If you've had crinkle cut fries in a restaurant...you've had these. The only real highlight of my meal was my creamsicle float...and to be honest, even that wasn't quite perfect. I little heavy on the soda and light on the float. If you see them not crowded and you're in the Inner Harbor...and you really want a burger...I'd say it is a toss up between them and the Five Guys across the street. But personally...I'd just wait a while and hit the Chik-fil-a opening next door.

Waited in line, and it was totally worth it. It definitely lived up to the hype. I got a shack burger with cheese fries and a drink. The burger was easily one, if not the best I've ever had. It was super juicy and all the toppings were super fresh. The shack sauce was awesome, too. The cheese fries really took me by surprise. Cheese fries are one of those things that are just kind of "meh". But these. They had a perfect crunch and the perfect amount of salt. The cheese sauce used wasn't your generic nacho cheese, it's a really good blend of cheeses that I couldn't put my finger on. I can't wait to go back during the warmer months. If you've never been to shake shack it's definitely worth checking out if you're a burger fan!

I'm a fan... Solid burgers and good fries!!! The burgers had great flavor and the fries are fried to perfection. Nothing fancy but just good. If you're in the mood for that greasy spoon feeling which we all get there sometimes this is a must stop in...

Try shack stack!! Flavor of meat and mushroom together is awesome. It is hard to find a parking if you wanna drive there. Always packed so try to grab a table while waiting if not to go. I like fries as well. Crispy outside.

I thought it was pretty similar to any other quick burger place in terms of the food. The burger was pretty standard - I got the cheeseburger. The crinkle fries are excellent - perfectly fried, not soggy or too crispy, and a perfect golden-brown, so I knew their frying oil was clean. One thing that made me give them 4 stars instead of 3 was their customer service. The staff members were all very friendly, they took our trays when we were finished eating, they offered more water, etc. I also really like that the restaurant has a water station out in the dining room so you can help yourself without even asking for a water cup at the register. Overall, I will certainly be back. The milkshakes are pretty good too! The vanilla malt is my personal favorite.

  • John H.

The shake shack looked promising. Located nicely in Baltimore, right in the mix of everything. Upon walking in, it was very tight. Not enough space to be able to look at the menu and then order. People were rushed to look over a menu. My wife and I ordered. For two burgers, one fry, and two shakes, it came to $30. We would pay about the same at a five guys or fat urged, so no worries. Do not order the salted butter caramel milkshake. It was HIGHLY recommended by staff, and it was absolutely disgusting. My biggest issue is there was zero places to sit. People without food were grabbing seats and sitting like they weren't leaving for a while. I stood with my food and ate. There was no time limit on seating. So for a semi pricy bill, zero seating, and being rushed to order, my family and I will not return. There are plenty of other businesses closer and without seating issues.

I got the double ShackBurger and fries. The food is awesome but definitely a little pricey. My meal was about $11. The bun is the best part of a Shake Shack burger! Also, the service was great! However, coming from the west coast, I think In n Out is better!!

What a rip off! $8 burgers, $3 fries and a $3 lemonade that sells for less than 50 cents in a grocery store. You can get better burgers in a bar in baltimore that are fresh and way better than this crap. This place will be out of business. You can't run expensive joint on fat white people anyways.

First off, the chocolate milkshakes are soooooooo good. But I guess you should expect that for a price of over $5 for a small cup. Even with the high prices, the milkshakes are fantastic.

It was ok, but just ok. I would eat there again if someone wanted to go but our group was unanimous in deciding Five Guys was better. This is not worth a crazy line so I am glad we never stood in line up in NYC for it. Nice atmosphere and friendly service. The service is five stars for a fast food place. The fries were crisp but a little off-tasting. The shake was yummy but expensive. The burgers meat was eh but toppings were fresh

I came to Shake shack on a friday at around 11:30. There was already a line...no big shocker there. We got through the short line that was there pretty quickly. Ordered my food and were given a buzzer and had a seat. The service at the counter was very friendly and efficient. I wasn't sure how long this was going to take. I was hoping not long as I was starving. I went with the Shack burger with bacon, an order of fries and a soda. As we sat and waited, the line immediately started to form out the door. Jesus. You have to be kidding me. My buzzer went off and I fetched my food at the counter and turned my buzzer in. The food came out hot and the fries crisp. That was all good however, when I got my fries I noticed they were not hand cut fries. This is very annoying to me. You are charging me almost 3 dollars for frozen crinkle fries. I can go to the store and buy an entire bag of these things for that much. Now a days most places should be putting forth an effort to make their own damn fries. Then I looked at the soda and the price was again, $3. OY!! My meal was a little over $13! Wow. I will say the burger itself was very good. But I cannot fathom paying that much money for that type of meal. And yeah, I am a fries snob, whats it to you? I crave potatoes like a drug addict craves drugs. So they better be good! Will I come back here? Not sure. That line is just absurd and for what? Frozen fries?

Shake Shack downtown. Over rated fast food marketed with bistro health food vibe. Crinkle fries-least favorite shape/flavor french fri. Burger is almost the size of a McDonald's cheeseburger. Bland grease flavor. Reminded me of the American fast food I ate while I was in Japan. It was good for what it was but I still don't know what all the Jazz is about.

Place is extremely popular and not worth the hype. Waited 20 minutes for a burger, fries and a chocolate shake. Burger was above average as was the milkshake. Small fry portions. Not worth the $18 dollar tab. Was too packed to even sit inside. Decent food, friendly, polite service, but won't be going back.

Uuh, not impressed. Shroomburger stuffed with Muenster cheese? Yuck. Should have been provolone. Fries remind me of white castle year 1985 and 1/2 & 1/2, taste like dirty tea. I can't drink milk so shakes are off limit to my stomach. Antee who, seems to be popular based off the amount of people patronizing.

It's a place where high schoolers would feel cool going to. Obnoxiously long line. Average burgers for a ridiculous price. Milk shakes were bland. Literally saw an entire group of teenage girls whip out their phones to take instagram pictures of their burgers before eating. Save your money and go to checkers for better burgers/fries/milk shakes. Only reason why I'm giving it two stars was because of the poo'chini treats for my dog that he really enjoyed.

This was my first visit to a shake shack and I thought it was really good. The wait was a little long and it was crazy trying to get a table but the food was really good. I had the shack burger and my boyfriend had the shackmeister dog and we split fries. Food was great, wait was not. Compared to the other options in the Inner Harbor I think this is a great choice, everything else looked really tourist-trap-y.

First visit and was looking forward to a Better Burger since this concepts says it plays in that space. What I got was a Shak burger that literally soaked the bun in grease, was half cooked and I swear the salt shaker had 1/2 inch holes in it, very salty and not eatable. The party of 5 others that I dragged in felt equally disappointed. The shake was ok and the fries were good as they reminded me of the diners I ate in as a kid in NY and NJ. The price value proposition was way off as we really only ate enough to decide we were not finishing. The restroom experience was weird in that a code was printed at the bottom of your receipt and was a hassle to use as the keypad was messed up. To sum it all up. I am so glad I did not get in on the IPO for this concept. Unless i missed something very important, all the other Better Burger spots I have eaten at whips this hands down. The founder has some work to do here. I will give it another try in the future.

The food is good but please be mindful that the burgers are handmade and are not all the same size. I had the shackmeister burger and it is onion heaven. They have great customer service the manager came over to our table to makr sure everything was ok.

Wish I would have saved my first SS experience for NYC. Overpriced and underwhelmed is an understatement. The burger was not as good as your local Five Guys and neither were the fries. I ordered 3 shackburgers and a shroomburger...none of which were hot by the time they got to me. The fries were 'meh'. My husband said you could find those in your local store's freezer section between Ore and Ida. Can I have my d*mn near $40 bucks back, please?

Great burgers. I didn't care for the shack meister beer. Overcrowded - We felt like we were eating on a subway car.

Great burgers!! So glad they're in Baltimore. It gets busy, finding a seat can be difficult. But totally worth it!

I was actually given a burger from the shake shack and I was super excited to taste it because I heard so much about it and every time I go to nyc the line is almost wrapped around the building. well the only reason why I gave this 2 stars is for the extremely fresh soft bread and the sauce on the burger otherwise it wasn't what everyone said it would be. also I cant see myself paying the amount that they want for a burger and the fries aren't even included. a lot of people brag about five guys but they aren't that great either. maybe on a good day when I can splurge a bit ill go over and actually buy something to give it another try but its definitely no rush. maybe if I tasted the fries I could have given a 3 star rating.....maybe!

Over hyped and over priced. French fries are crinkle cut-ugh burgers are nothing special. I tried Smashburger in Fells Point So much better and more reasonable prices. Enen 5 Guys is better at least their fries are fresh. Don't waste your time or your money.

Ate at this brand spanking new place last week with my co-workers. It was pretty good. 1st time at a Shake Shack. I ordered a smokeshack (bacon cheeseburger, special sauce, cherry pepper relish), fries and a caramel-chocolate milkshake. The burger was good. It was better than good. But work the price?? Ehh....A double is almost $10, and there's a Five Guys across the street.... All things considered the food is over priced. Where it WINS, is these milkshakes. OMG. We waited in line outside and they brought us salted caramel hot chocolate FTW. It was sooooo delicious. Milkshakes are worth the money IMO. They taste amazing, they're thick and rich and decadent. They also have ice cream! I do think their prices reflect their triple bottom line though, which I commend. The commitments they are making to the quality of food and maintainability are invaluable. Even their tables and chairs are made from reclaimed wood.

First Shake Shack experience. Got just a plain ol' cheeseburger with pickles. Perfect. How did they get the meat patty so crisp? Dredged in flour maybe? I dunno, but it was truly delicious and I'll be back again soon to try one of their hot dogs.

I went on opening day, so obviously the line was out the door. Not a problem. I immediately liked the inside/decor. Felt clean and welcoming. Like others have said, the employees were very enthusiastic and accommodating. Again, I'm overlooking how long my food took because of how busy the grand opening was. I'll be expecting a wait that's comparable to Five Guys next time, since they run a very similar operation. So I got the shackmeister burger, and fries. Added bacon to the burger. It came with crispy onions and the shake sauce. It was delicious. The fries were perfect as well. I've never had crinkle cut fries that were crisped so nice. Oh and they also have old bay and a few local beers. I'll definitely be coming back since I work on Pratt.

Mediocre at best. All the HYPE....not worth it. Expensive. NO turkey burgers. Fries.....bleeeek.

Burgers were excellent. Exactly what you'd expect from shake shack. Shack Sauce is a must on any burger and the shakes were great even in this cold snowy weather. Staff was polite and enthusiastic and the manager stopped by our table to ask us how are meal was. Not your ordinary fast food!!

To be honest I was going in hoping I would love this place. I had heard much about it from others but not yet experienced it myself. To start with, if you are not already in the area, good luck with parking. We ended up parking in a lot that was listed as a special event parking so cost $10. Street parking was not an option in a 4 block area as everything was quite full. A bit of a line at first but it went very quickly, was greeted at the door and offered a menu. The cashier seemed friendly but was very difficult to understand her (low talker and mumbling) so we missed when she repeated the order that we only got one order of fries despite ordering two). We were given one of the notification pagers for when our order would be ready and went to find a seat. The place was rather full but we found a table which we had to clean for ourselves as it did not appear that was being done (table was open since we entered approx. 10 minutes earlier). Food took about 15 minutes until the pager activated. Food looked decent, the order of fries is rather small, about the size container you put peanuts in at Five Guys. We will start with them, they seem to be typical frozen crinkle cut fries, not even splurging for Ore-Ida. With the cheese on the side like other people had put was meh, ketchup and salt was better, glad we ordered it on the side was like watered down cheeze whiz. The burger tasted good, the patties are a bit thin and I did not taste the Shack sauce on my Shackburger and my wife got the Smokeshack which she said was okay also. Neither outstanding, yet not McDonald's terrible either. I will say the buns were the best part of the burger, the meat and apparently not enough sauce to bring anything else out. We also got the hot chocolate which was probably the best part of the meal. So, two burgers, one order of fries with cheese on the side and two hot chocolates came to $24. I don't think we will try again. Five Guys is a much better value and you can not beat their fries. Forgot one other detail. Handling of credit cards. Being that Baltimore has a high crime rate, I feel a bit relieved when cashiers actually look at the back of the card to see if it is signed. Mine always is and says check ID. Here it was a quick swipe without even glancing at the card front or back and handed the card back.

Minus a half star for being pricey, but the food is fantastic. Single cheeseburger + fries + a coffee-flavored "fair" shake ran me about $15, but all were exceptionally tasty. Friendly staff, large/spacious/clean environment, what more can you ask for?

Good not great. Wifey and I are big fans of burger joints, our favorite is Good Stuff Eatery in DC. Shake shack didn't stack up to our expectations. The decor, staff and atmosphere were great! The regular fries and shakes were also great. The quality of the meat seemed low, defiantly a "beefy" taste. The cheese fries were soggy and not good. The half and half was like water mixed with lemonade. Defiantly wasn't a bad experience but we will not be back. Order details: (2) single shack burgers, fries, cheese fries, black and white milk shake, strawberry milkshake, fifty fifty, and a coke. Cost: $35.81

My kids said it is the best burger they have had. Even beat Red Robin (which is huge). They are efficient and burger has the right amount of condiment and all. We love the Shakemeister which has fried onion straw and some special sauce. The service was great too. It is a bit pricey for the burger but it was good burger and fries!

SO so so happy Shake Shack has arrived in Baltimore! Went there the day of the big snow storm last week because I had a craving that just needed to be fulfilled. As soon as we walked in a woman greeted us with a big smile, thanked us for coming in even though it was storming, gave us a menu and sent us to the counter. We ordered burgers that came with crispy fried onions, lettuce and tomato with a side of fries and milk shake. (My boyfriend did go into minor shock over the price, about $21). But after the first bite we were moaning and mmm-ing and transported to a heavenly place. The fries were perfect, burger was one of the best I've had (and I lived in California for 6 years right near an Inn-N-Out and Habit) and the milkshake was de-lish. The place was clean, friendly, plenty of seating, and I'm making myself want to go back right now!

I've been to Shake Shack's in DC and NY, either they got worse or just this location. I ordered a Shackmeister Burger, which was fine, but not as good as a Five Guys or anything like that. It was greasy, but acceptable. The fries tasted frozen and had little flavor - I don't remember being disappointed by fries at my previous visits so that was unfortunate. The biggest issue we had was with the vegetarian option of the Shroomburger. Yeah, I know, don't order the vegetarian option at a burger chain - fine. But they still served it, and it was on multiple levels disgusting. Imagine the frozen jalepeno popper that you made the night before and then microwaved the morning after b/c there's no food in the house. Now make it a mushy mushroom filled some some sort of creamy ooze, fry it a lot, then try and eat it. The texture was as foul as the taste. The biggest litmus test is that my kids eat everything, and if it is fried and salty, how can it be denied? 2 bites each. Never seen that before.

This Shake Shack is the very first location in Baltimore City, went to it about a day after it opened after I heard a new food place was opening up in Baltimore City. It was very cold outside however there were Shake Shack employees coming out and giving away sunglasses and thanking everyone personally for coming out and checking out the new Shake Shack. I ordered the Double SmokeShack burger, the Shack-cago dog, fries and a large soda. It was made in a reasonable amount of time and the prices for the items at Shake Shack are certaintly worth it, the burger, the hotdog and fries were very delicious. The burger itself and fries arguably is much better than the burgers and fries sold at 5 Guys across the street at Harborplace. I have consistently went back to the Shake Shack whenever I'm in the area and the service is wonderful and the food is consistently of an excellent quality. Will continue on going to this Shake Shack.

Underwhelming, overpriced, and undersized Finally went here after it opened months ago to super tons of hype, just to see what it was all about. Turns out, not much. Gone are the huge lines - we walked right in and ordered immediately at dinner time on a Thursday. I got a bacon burger ($6.50 for a single) and regular sized shake ($4). The shake was ok, really more like 3/4 cup of melted chocolate ice cream with some brownie bits than an actual milkshake. The burger was standard fast food fare - tasted a lot like a Wendy's burger but without the delicious lettuce and tomato and veggies that come standard on those. My friend got the fries and they looked and tasted pretty much like Ore Ida wrinkle fries. Not worth the hype imo

The shroom burger is really good (and vegetarian!). However, this place only has one choice of cheese for burgers - American. I've never seen a burger place that offers only one choice of cheese and I was somewhat disappointed to see that. The burger that I had (smoke shack) was still pretty good but could've been much better. Good to try once - probably won't go back.

I was hesitant to try this location as the D.C. location is always busy and carries mushy fries. This location wasn't as busy, and everyone who works there is friendly. Fries are perfectly crispy, and burgers are perfectly juicy! And they carry Baltimore beer and old bay, of course!

I'm not sure if I was too hyped to get a shake shack locally or what. However, it seems like the one in DC and most definitely in NY is so much better than this one. The service is excellent though so I will not take that away from them. Maybe the hype has died down because I went this past Friday and there was no line at all which is unusual for any restaurant at the inner harbor. The new roadhouse burger definitely wasn't all I thought it was cracked up to be and the hotdog is horrible. For some reason my favorite thing about this place is the little doggie bowls outside but I'm sure that's because lately I've been wanting a puppy:)
