Nice, small, family-run bar with a great atmosphere. Drinks are reasonably priced and the wings are the best I've had in Baltimore (a close 2nd would be Stackhouse).

This place is the ultimate neighborhood dive bar. But, it also serves the most reasonably priced and largest wings ever. My date and I had a great night there. Thursday's are half-price wing nights and man, did we have a ton. And they were monstrous. They also have a pretty decent draft selection for a small bar. My only suggestion to the restaurant would be to add a few more flavors of wings. The Old Bay and Buffalo wings were still delicious, but I kind of craved a Honey BBQ or a Sriracha wing here and there. Great for a cheap, delicious meal in the comfort of the neighborhood.

(03/30/2011) Tucked away in an endless jungle of near identical formstone rowhomes near Patterson Park, you'll probably never find this place unless you're specifically looking for it. It's def local, friendly, kinda dive-y. Food and drinks are cheap, like really cheap (who has a $4.25 fish sandwich anymore? they do). Went there to celebrate a birthday with friends; we ordered salmon, crabcake and pork chop dinners (they were unfortunately out of the sour beef and dumplings and the fried chicken). All entrees come with your choice of two side dishes -- we got string beans, mashed poatoes and gravy, French fries, potato salad. Food was very home-y; and all kind of bland; we worked out the salt and pepper shakers. Crabcake was backfin, moist on the inside, deep-fried crust on the outside, desparately needed seasoning and acid. Pork chops were thin cut, on the bone, well cooked, with sauteed onions, unfortunately marred by the puddle of orange oil it left on the plate. Salmon looked baked/broiled with a breadcrumb topping, I personally didn't try it, dining companion didn't say much about it. If you live nearby, I could see this being your neighborhood joint, it's lively and friendly and almost feels like going over to your friend's basement to hang out (if your friend owned a bar). Rating is ** for food, *** for bar.

I've lived a half block from Roman's for 4 years. It took about 4 months to even discover it was there. So, unless you are looking for it, you will never even see it, although they did get a new flag put out front. This place is a Patterson Park gem. It's our neighborhood bar, there is nothing pretentious about it. However they have EXCELLENT food. Nothing fancy just good, home style cooking and you absolutely cannot beat the prices. My favorite is the Club and subbing in tater tots. They use real sliced turkey, the bacon is always crisp and the tots, man, extra crispy, never soggy. My husband has tried a bunch of different things and nothing ever disappoints. They also do carry our for beer and food! If you decided to go hang out, Roman (who is the owner) and Scott the bartender are awesome to chat with. So if you live in the neighborhood and haven't checked out Roman's you are missing out!

Stopped in here the other night for dinner after reading about this place in a local blog. Small bar with a nice size restaurant area but located in a hidden corner off Baltimore St. Definitely local. I walked in and was the only one there at 6:30. chatted with the bar tender for a few minutes and ordered up a PBR and a pork chop dinner. More people came in the closer it got to the O's game. Drinks are cheap, locals are friendly and laid back. You can tell this is the place they go when they just want to unwind and talk about whatever. Yea, kinda like your neighborhood bar is supposed to be. The food took a while but it was all made from scratch and took time. Fine with me, I wasn't going anywhere. The O's game had just started. I had 2 nice sized pork chops grilled w/ grilled onions, awesome mashed potatoes/gravy and sauerkraut. Ate it all up and even chewed on the bones for a while. Damn, that was good. Now, it wasn't 5 star fancy restaurant good. More like a solid home cooked meal good. No time or effort wasted on presentation, just a good hearty meal. Take some time, order the chicken or pork, have a few rounds, chat with the locals who pass through and just relax. This place really hit the spot. It's on my repeat list for sure.

First let me start with the positive. The bartender was super sweet and attentive. We really really wanted to like this place. There aren't many restaurants within walking distance and we were unimpressed with Bistro RX. My boyfriend ordered the fried chicken and I got lima bean soup which they said was made in house. Something was just wrong with the food. I can't quite put my finger on it. We knew it was supposed to be dive bar almost home-made type food but we both felt sick afterward. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things. I'm sad to say that we won't be back. The service was good and we wanted to support a local place.

Family run bar with reasonable drink prices, huge wings (half price pin Thursdays), decent food selection (imagine your mom's kitchen), and a local place atmosphere.

Jumbo Buffalo Wings. Very crispy with the right amount of sauce. Pizza was okay, but I'll be sticking to the wings on future visits!

Roman's Place is slinging some Man-Size wings. I dare another Baltimore City dining establishment to beat them for both taste and price.

You MUST get the wings! The buffalo sauce is perfect, the curly fries are crispy, and the beer is cold! Love this local gem!

In the past few years, lots of places have tried to capitalize on people's affection for the "dive bar." Most of those places end up looking like poorly lit, slightly dirty Applebees. Roman's Place is a true dive in the term's most pure form. Romans is the kind of place where you can watch football on a CRT television while drinking beer in a bottle- and you can check another game during the commercials! The staff is hospitable and the food is good.
