Stayed over Memorial Day weekend and had an incredible time. We stayed in the Ella Virginia suite and it couldn't have been more cozy and comfortable. We had plans to go out and see the city but it was a struggle to leave the room at times. The rest of the house could not be more charming, as well. Tish was an unbelievable host, and the breakfast each morning was divine. I cannot recommend this place highly enough!

My wife and I extremely enjoyed our one night stay at Rachael's Dowry. We stayed in the Randoph Room and it was very accommodating. We could not ask for a better location in Baltimore, as we attended the Orioles game at Camden and we enjoyed walking to the Inner Harbor. We will not stay anywhere else but here when we return to Baltimore.

I can't imagine that there would be a better place to stay in Baltimore than Rachael's Dowry Bed and Breakfast. I stayed for one evening and it was definitely the right choice for picking a place to stay. It is located right outside Oriole Park and a short walk from the light rail. They do an unbelievable job of making you feel at home and do everything they can do make your stay very comfortable. The room was very nice, the bed was very cozy. Breakfast served the next morning was very good. I can't stress enough the very comfortable and secure feeling you have while you are a guest in the house. I would absolutely stay here again when I visit Baltimore.

This was my first bed and breakfast and I was very impressed. The home was very comfortable and welcoming. Tish was very friendly and accommodating. We were also impressed with the homemade breakfast! The home and neighborhood were quiet, despite it being a block away from the ballpark. The location is also very conveniently located to the harbor and Camden Yards. We will definitely be staying here again and highly recommend it to others looking for comfortable, homey accommodations in Baltimore.

I stayed at Rachael's from Sunday-Thursday because I have accepted a research position with the University of Maryland-Baltimore and I needed to come up to fill out paperwork and do some training with my new lab. This was a very short walk away from the medical building where the office is so I was very happy with that. There are so many reviews that I thought I might take some time to hi-light some of the details that don't often come up in the reviews I read. Breakfast: The breakfast is excellent. The typical breakfast hour is between 8 and 9. My HR orientation started at 8:15 and they were flexible with me and had breakfast available starting at 7:30. I was very appreciative. For breakfast expect to come down every morning to a table set just for you with a dish of fruit tossed with yogurt (I'm guessing vanilla) and topped with home made granola. The fruits I had included things like fresh pears, bananas, cherries, oranges. You wouldn't think that oranges would be right with yogurt, but it was nice. There is also a small glass of juice at the table waiting for you (e.g. cranberry apple) and a cup ready for self-service coffee. The coffee is a very strong roast (I would guess a french roast) and is apparently local. I love that the coffee was self service because sometimes I want one cup and sometimes a want 3 cups, and I would rather get my own rather than wait. Just as a tip, I did see that he has to go cup lids available if you're a take-away coffee kind of person then you should just ask. Then the entree comes, I'm just going to list what I had on each day so you can get the feel of what to expect. I like everything I ate: Monday: Something like an egg frittata with pineapple in it (I know, strange, but very good, the pineapple became caramelized and was excellent, 2 link sausages, and some sweet breakfast bread Tuesday: Another baked egg dish with some hot peppers in it, bacon, and little heavy breakfast muffins with butter Wednesday: Poached eggs on butter english muffins and sausages Thursday: Buckwheat pancakes with toasted almonds and warm maple syrup along with sausages and orange slices There were also a small fresh batch of cookies every afternoon. I think that I personally ate almost all of the peanut butter cookies on Wednesday afternoon by myself (ops). There is also honey cognac available. I will often drink a bit of honey whiskey at home/make a hot toddy with it. I started to feel like I was getting a cold and I poured some into a cup of hot tea, it was a good substitute. I stayed in the Carrie Frank suite the first day and the Randolph room the other 3 days. The bath products have a lovely floral scent. The rooms are very clean. The sheets are very soft. The bed in the Randolph room was comfortably soft, the bed in the Carrie Frank suite was impossibly hard, I would strongly suggest a new mattress. The neighborhood is great. There is a sort of general convenience store next to the house which would be great to get a snack or something. There is a coffee place next to that called Sidewalk Espresso Bar, and the lovely Corner Bistro and Wine Bar is very close too. Don't get turned off by all of the market prices listed on the menu. They are really nice there, and I almost got the impression that they were even nicer to me because I was staying here. I had a great stay. I did not regret the choice to stay in a B&B rather than picking a big chain hotel.

My husband and I stayed at Rachael's Dowry which is located in the heart of Baltimore, walking distance to the inner harbor. Tish was an excellent hostess and made our stay very comfortable. Our room was outstanding, the breakfast was yummy terrific, the location was convenient and the experience sold my husband on future B&B visits. We had a fabulous Bicycle Tour with Penny, the owner at Light Street Cycles. She rode her bike and met us at Rachael's Dowry and we took off from there for a leisurely 15 mile tour of the inner harbor and surrounding area. How awesome to spend a couple of days in a quaint residential area, blocks from Camden Yard and a perfect location to enjoy neighborhood restaurants.

A bed and breakfast gem nestled in a delightful neighborhood with plenty to see, do, eat, and drink within walking distance. This is my second year in a row staying here and I will be back again. If you are staying here please try the Sidewalk Cafe, only a few blocks away, also The Corner Bistro and Wine Bar.

Excellent in everything they do. I stayed Thursday thru Sunday while attending a conference at the nearby Hilton, and I'm so happy I selected this charm-filled B&B rather than the host hotel. A month later I still remember the delicious breakfasts, served at a time that suited my unfortunately early starts - spicy eggs, dairy-free muffins made especially to suit my dietary restrictions and fresh fruits. The bedroom was enormous with a spacious, comfortable four-poster bed giving excellent nights of sleep. Of course, it goes without saying that the service was incredibly friendly and personable. Has my highest recommendation.

As a native "Baltimoran," it was a pleasure to have an opportunity to be a guest in my former hometown! This B&B is a treasure! Staying at this well-located Inn helped turn a weekend of family duty into a lovely weekend of exploration and comfort! The Inn is beautiful and so well-maintained! There is simply nothing that could have been better: the sleeping accommodations, the bathroom, the breakfast, added amenities and of course, the warm but not intrusive hospitality. I encourage you to stay at Rachael's Dowry, but hope there will be room at the Inn for us when we want to return.

What a great stay! We were only there for one night but it was wonderful. Norman was so pleasant and welcoming. The inn is warm and inviting. Very romantic. Everything was extremely clean and updated. I would highly recommend this bed and breakfast. I definitely plan to return when it's warmer out and I can explore more of Baltimore. The location is excellent. We were able to walk to the inner harbor and the stadiums. Breakfast was wonderful. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The owner, Norman, is kind and friendly. We will certainly stay if we are in the area again.

Aaaaafrigginmazing! stayed for two nights with my boyfriend. We were on a Baltimore food tour. I researched many restaurants Glad I did! The weather was crappy- so we drove everywhere (all the awesome places were close) Back to B&B gorgeous - breakfast was deelish The host was awesome & sweet! The room was quiet and relaxing. I def took advantage of bathtub. Can't wait to go back this summer (hopefully make a Yankee game down there)

I stayed here for 10 days, and i couldn't have been happier with the room, the food, and the hospitality. Tish and Norman are both great cooks, and they are super nice, too. My husband and 13 year old vegetarian daughter joined me a few days after i arrived. They were just as impressed as i was. My daughter was served her own special breakfasts, and she was very comfortable staying there. I really could not recommend Rachael's Dowry enough to anyone wanting to stay in Baltimore. Be sure to check out Corner Bistro and Peace and a Cup of Joe just a few blocks away, too.

Rachel's Dowry: a Bit of Shangri-la in Ridgley's Delight Rachel's Dowry, though it has been in business for only a few years, might have been conceived as a bed and breakfast. It is so ideally suited to that purpose that it can hardly be imagined as anything else. Its excellent accommodations, antique-filled rooms, and aura of comfort are as quintessentially "B & B" as its historical lineage and walkable locale. The house is Ridgley's Delight's most imposing and has outlasted innumerable dust-ups and reconfigurations, not only to the City of Baltimore, but to a politically complicated country that has been invaded once and attempted to tear itself apart fifty years later. Orioles Park/Camden Yards looms above its chimneys and cornices to the east while two-lane roads that are lined with two and three-story houses meander along, away from, and catty-corner to, its spacious front yard. Rachel's Dowry was built in 1798 and has bones to match. And while its façade is Victorian, its interior hearkens back to the days when George Washington was said to have slept in every home and wayfarers from New York and Philadelphia found a comfortable place to land while they were in Baltimore City on business. Modern-day guests may well gawk at its well-appointed interior, which has been restored to such a fare-thee-well that its many nuances go, paradoxically, unnoticed. Yet all of its amenities blend to create an experience that is tinged with the brandy one can sip in its library and suffused with the light that is filtered by a "heritage" magnolia in the courtyard, from which a guest may enter after parking in its private lot. One may choose from six rooms, which can be found in the main house as well as an annex that had very likely housed slaves and servants. The one my fiancé and I stayed in was appointed with a fine four-poster bed, a fireplace whose flames could be remotely controlled, and a basin-style "water fountain". Its bathroom, while small, was well-designed, with a walk-in shower and "green"/single-flush toilet. The room's color-scheme was as calming as its view of the courtyard, whose brick-inlaid charm was as potent as any of the house's interior features. Though we didn't utilize them, complimentary internet, satellite TV, as well as iPod/iPhone docking stations, were available to us. (We are luddites whose techno-savvy extends to opening car doors.) Solar panels contribute to an energy-efficient heating and air-conditioning system. And should business-folk want to catch up on emails, work stations provide for that. Our host, Norman Finnance - who, along with his sister, Letitia Finnance Bohner, renovated the house in 2010 - could not have been more generously unobtrusive, though he was always accessible and never less than gracious. He and his sister are obviously in love with the place. No B & B in my experience has been given such lavish care and attention. Mr. Finnance (et al) is so intimately acquainted with the restoration process - which was necessary to get the house "in gear" - that his subtle decision-making is embedded in every little thing. His thoughtful questions regarding our nutritional preferences bore fruit (as it were) in our breakfast, which suited our vegan propensities to a T. Kudos should not be spared on the dining-room, whose marble fireplaces and random-width floorboards evoked the past as unassumingly as the parlor into which it flowed. Because of a security system that was easy to operate and understand, our comings and goings were drama-free. Though I don't claim to have much savvy in this regard, I have stood outside of hotel rooms pleading with the gods to let me in. Eventually a three-dimensional person comes, to our mutual embarrassment, and rescues me. At Rachel's Dowry, there was, thankfully, no need to worry about being stranded outside. What was wrong with Rachel's Dowry? If I could think of something, I'd love to share it with you. But when perfection comes into one's life, it's best to enjoy it and hope that it won't be the last time. Rachel's Dowry is at 637 Washington Boulevard, Baltimore, MD 21230. Lovely and unique place to stay in Baltimore. The bed was very comfortable and the room and building full of small touches like many wonderful books, orange brandy and homemade treats out every night, and well chosen antiques that never felt fussy. The neighborhood is quaint with a few good restaurants and a coffee shop. Its walkable to the conference center and harbor, though a bit of a hike to the buzzier local neighborhoods. The one bummer is the limited availability of breakfast from 8-9am. I understand that many people stay here for conferences, but its very difficult for those visiting from more western timezones to drag ourselves out of bed on time. Maybe extend the hours a bit if only on the weekends? (admittedly- I did not ask, as I was planning to get up and slept right through my alarm instead, oops).

A wonderful option near the convention center. I had a large, comfortable and clean room with sumptuous colonial furnishings, delicious fresh-baked cookies, custom-made breakfast, and all for less than the Hilton a block away was charging. Highly recommend.

Our B&B experience at Rachael's Dowry was perfect. We came for a one night stay in Baltimore to explore the inner-harbor and particularly the aquarium and science museum. The B&B is within easy walking distance (5-6 blocks) and would be a good place to stay if you were planning to go to the convention center as well! The B&B itself is really well put together and is run in a fun, no-nonsense, kind of way that lets you get past any logistics and lets you relax. The bedroom was great with a a cute electric fireplace and lovely antique furniture that made it all very cozy. My wife and I stayed int he Ella Virginia Bath Suite which was fantastic. The bed was very soft and having the bath for us to relax with some (provided) bubble bath was great. I would recommend this to anyone visiting Baltimore and the inner-harbor area. (Thanks Tish!)

Rachael's Dowry is a gem! Located near the heart of downtown Baltimore this Inn is fewer than 10-minutes' walk from the Convention center and the Piers (Aquarium, Museums, Entertainment, etc). The rooms are lovingly restored, spacious and thoughtfully decorated. We stayed in the room with the large soaking tub on the top floor. The bed was so comfortable. Rachael's Dowry includes special treats (but they're a surprise!) that make you, the guest, really feel like the innkeepers are happy to have you there. Parking is included in a lot with video surveillance just around the corner. Free Wi-Fi is available and the innkeepers are incredibly knowledgeable about the area. They give good recommendations for entertainment and dining venues. The breakfast was delicious and included fresh-squeezed orange juice--yum! I highly recommend this place; we will be back! Mg

Our stay in this lovely old house (1798) was enhanced by the friendliness and culinary talents of our hostess and the historical information shared by her co-host. We were too busy to take advantage of the lovely patio and library but enjoyed passing through them. Though the house was an easy walk from the Inner Harbor, it was very quiet and peaceful. Looking forward to a return visit.

What an amazing find! My husband and I stayed here for our mini-moon. We scoured the internet looking for a nice play to stay in Baltimore, and were excited to book Rachael's Dowry based on the excellent customer reviews. This place did not disappoint in the least! Titia, one of the proprietors, contacted us shortly after we made our reservation with helpful information and directions to their private parking lot (no extra charge). We parked our car and never moved it because the B&B's location was super convenient...a short walk to Camden Yards and all of the attractions at the inner harbor. Our room (which we selected from the several available) was tastefully and comfortably decorated, with modern amenities that didn't take away from the historic/period touches. The rest of the B&B was wonderfully restored, and we were invited to walk around and enjoy it as if it were our own home. We felt so welcome! The breakfasts were incredible. I looked forward to seeing/smelling/tasting the delicious meal we'd be surprised with each morning. Everything was locally grown or made, and prepared fresh each morning by Norm, the main proprietor (I need to get his recipes). We'd usually move to the cozy shaded garden in back and let breakfast settle before heading out for the day. We had such a great overall experience, we intend to return to Rachael's Dowry at least once a year for a romantic get-away. This place was top notch.

Coming from a first time B&Ber... we absolutely loved our stay! The owner, Tish, is welcoming and helpful, but not overwhelming. The home is charming, beautiful and very clean. The breakfast was different each morning and was a real treat. My girlfriend and I recently stayed a weekend in January and will definitely go back.

This bed and breakfast is fantastic. The owners did a great job of renovating a historical building to create a comfortable and tasteful abode with modern conveniences while retaining the charm and details of the building's background. The balance and touches of history and modernity are just the right mix, not overwhelming or stuffy (nor flowery). The large room we stayed in had tall windows that looked out on to their beautiful garden and the street. Even the bathroom was large and beautifully outfitted. Located within a quiet charming (i know, i said charming already...) little network of old little buildings and streets. Perhaps a bit like a miniature NYC West Village? There is a large front garden, so it' set back from the street. It's also walking distance to the stadium, convention center, waterfront, and med school. Parking, WiFi, TV, library, great big breakfast, cookies, water, cognac, thick sheets and towels, host is helpful and non-intrusive.

I travel once every 6 weeks and find corporate hotels rather boring and uninteresting, so asked my wife to find me a nice place in Baltimore. Rachael's Dowry B&B place is fantastic, great hosts, great room, very quiet and clean and a delicious breakfast. The rooms are beautifully restored with modern conveniences such as wireless internet (great for me as a business traveler). Breakfast was lovely with great attention to detail and beautifully cooked food, I have never been this relaxed on a business trip before. I'll be back......

As one of the first guests ever to stay at Rachel's Dowry B&B, I can't say enough good things about it! Such a GORGEOUS house with a fabulous restoration. The attention to detail is impressive and I could definitely see George Washington staying there (which he really did!). The rooms are beautiful and the hosts are SUPER friendly! Not to mention the location being PERFECT for baseball games (only 1.5 blocks to the stadium) and about a 10 minute walk to the inner harbor. We stayed in the Ella Virginia room which was very cozy. My favorite part might have been the bathtub though! We will definitely be coming back again soon! Can't wait to see the huge magnolia tree in bloom!
