Ever since the awesome renovation, the kitchen, front desk and food quality has been a let down. Ordering a simple salad takes forever, the cashiers have entered our orders wrong, made them for take out instead of eat-in, forgotten items for carryout. And for two weeks in a row, the kitchen has crafted a simple Greek salad with raw chicken. First time, had to throw away the whole salad and this time (tonight) when it was specifically requested to be completely cooked, guess what, got home and raw again, tried to to microwave it, but again a trash can special. NO offer to replace, refund, no apology. So after all the expense of making the place look better, the reason poeple arrive: food, speed and quality, is a compelte breakdown. Better sharpen the basics before the reputation rolls downhill.

To me Pepe's has soo much potential, but the service is continually terrible. The food is always at worst satisfactory and sometimes outright delicious. Since the renovations there is plenty of seating. Once you have your food, there are no real complaints that I've ever had. As for the service, Pepe's is continualy some of the worst service I ever get. Of the probably 30 cheesesteak subs I've ordered at Pepes probably 5 have had the correct toppings on it. Between getting my order wrong, and the confusion of whether they bring the food to you, or you get it yourself, the service continually falls between a D and an F. If they fixed that, I'd probably be there oon a weekly basis instead of a bi-monthly basis

This visit will go down as one of the most miserable lunches I've ever had. We should have run when the server asked my husband what sort of dressing usually comes on a Caesar salad. But foolishly, we stuck it out. I ordered what I believed to be a salad with turkey. What came out was the largest pile of mystery meat swimming in mayonnaise. When I expressed my disappointment, I was told they could swap it out for chicken -- for a charge. This message was delivered by the server who I watched use the refrigerator as a step stool, placing the sole of her dirty tennis shoe on the shelf where food is stored. Not a great impression. I admit, I wasn't nice when I stormed out, but the lack of concern about food safety and missing menu descriptions, combined with little regard for costumer satisfaction, makes Pepe's a definite no for me. There are a million pizza joints to choose from, so why tolerate one that doesn't seem to care about my business?

It has been over a year since my family has eaten pizza from Pepe's, and now I remember why. My husband purchased a pepperoni pizza from them tonight, and we were beyond disappointed. The pizza was covered in grease! Now, I know that some is to be expected when you get pepperoni as a topping, but this was outrageous! The pizza was so wet and slippery, that the cheese just slid off when you tried to pick up a slice. Also, the dough was so wet and flimsy that I gave up attempting to hold a slice together. Since my husband and I hate wasting money, and since it would have been too much of a hassle to go all the way back to return the so called pizza, we decided to try to choke down some of it. Immediately after eating some, my stomach started churning and I developed a headache. My husband's stomach is also irritated. We will not give Pepe's another penny of or money!

First off: Nothing wrong with the food. The food was fine, the menu is great, the new venue is beautiful. So what could be wrong? SERVICE SERVICE SERVICE!!!! Here you have is a bunch of little blond yuppie girls who's parents said "you need a job this summer". Rude, no people skills, and an overall "I don't want to be here" attitude. This is a crying shame. Pepe's is an institution in MT Washington. Its been around forever. And like I said it has a lot of great things going for it. Serious get rid of these little girls and bring in some nice local woman or men and this place will be a favorite of mine again.

I had the pizza here once and it was okay to good. The service was very slow. Today, the service was worse. I ordered fried chicken that was ready in the warmer and I waited more than 15 minutes while those who ordered pizza and other kitchen meals after me received their food. The chicken was not good and had definitely been sitting there all day. I had to ask for my chicken and the ladies did not seem bothered that others had been served long before me. I regret going and because of the horrible parking, I got blocked in and could not escape. It was a sign to definitely never go back. If I want chicken, I will go to Royal Farms just down the road. For other items, I will keep searching Yelp.

It's a sad shame when a local well established pizzeria & delivery establishment expands & sacrifices quality of service to their long term customers. My entire family & my in-laws have patronized your establishment for many years, from before you were known as Pepe's. We have been ordering from you at least 2 to 3 times a week for the past 29 years, but within the past month the customer service has declined to the point that I feel as if I can get better service from McDonalds. This is sad, for more than one reason. I am exhausting the choices of quality delivery that we can receive from the Mt. Washington /Medfield area & I really did like your food at one time. Honestly, my hopes are that someone of stature at Pepe's reads this & elects to address it aggressively, so as to save this establishment.

When I need to indulge my cheese steak hankering. Off to Pepe's I go. Easy Parking, extensive carryout menu.

Pepe's is consistent. I know what to expect every time. We usually order pizza, subs, wings (order the breaded, NOT the wingdings) . Their hot sauce is hot, tastes like Pete's Redhot sauce. They have the good chicken tenders, light breading with mostly meat. The one issue I have with Pepe's is the parking. Their lot is always full and the overflow lot at Tropicool is a mess. People park where they want, regardless of whether there is an official space. So be very careful.

Have to agree with Randall H. Not sure what is going on with them, but I can't remember the last time they got an order right. In the past three times I've ordered, I've gotten a turkey sandwich without cheese, a Caesar deluxe without the grilled chicken, and, last night, a Greek salad with undercooked chicken. Like pink inside. They brought us all new food and refunded our money, but this is just happening too much lately. There are so many other places that deliver that I can't recommend them.

The food at Pepe's is passable, some is very good, but the delivery and dine in service sucks. I don't think anyone who works there has any common sense or restaurant experience. It has such potential, but I think their business will continue to wane. Wouldn't you think they'd fix it with a "customer first" kind of attitude? I asked for money back on one breakfast plate today and the woman practically threw the money at me.

I don't even know where to start.... I've been coming here for years. GREEK PIZZA WITH CHICKEN. Yes. Your life has no meaning without it. Sometimes I think about ordering one for myself because sharing is hard. Their house salad dressing is like crack. I'm sure I'm not the only one that wakes up in the middle of the night craving it.

Out of all of the pizza places in the area, I would suggest somewhere else. In the past have ordered a variety of items from them including pizzas and fries. Somehow to my astonishment they were able to mess up fries, making them so crispy they were uneducable. Then, when I tried to take them back, they would not do anything with it.

I cannot speak for delivery or dine in as I live close enough to pick it up. We normally order here a couple times a month. My wife is addicted to the Greek Salad with Chicken. While I change up my order between the Gyro, Spinach Pie, Chicken Parm Sub, or Philly Mushroom Cheesesteak Sub. The pizza is some of the best in town as well. The people behind the counter are friendly and my orders are always correct and ready to go on time.

We've been coming here for years. For the price, yumminess and convenience, it almost can't be beat. Cheesesteak with everything - none better. Pizza - crust is very good, sauce is tangy and bright, even better the next day if you're into that sort of thing. Second favorite pizza in Baltimore (over Hersh's, over Iggie's, over Verde, over Joe Squared -- sorry guys). Spanikopita - surprisingly good, surprisingly light. Sometimes I get the fries with gravy, not because they're perfect, but because they satisfy the deepest darkest carby urge you can have. They rock me back to my Jagermeister days. Thankfully, they just taste fine on their own.

Stopped by the remodeled Pepe's with my wife and nine month old daughter. Ordering at the counter is simple enough but when we went to the dining area we were met with dirty tables, dirty/broken highchairs, and dirty floors. My cheeseburger was not memorable. It was a cheap frozen patty you get from the grocery store heated up on a grill. My wife's chicken Parmesan was pretty good. I would not recommend eating at Pepe's until they deal with the dining area's cleanliness. In addition if you're going to have a cheeseburger at a non-fast food restaurant it should not be a flavorless, frozen patty

Moved to this area from the land of Pasta Mista. Was really looking forward to finding a good 'za place near the new digs. This Pizza is subpar. The crust is OK...a little too doughy for my liking but could have been saved by the toppings...that didn't happen. The broccoli was all (frozen?!) stalks--no heads. The sauce is aggressively sweet. It was a real let down. THAT SAID, apparently the sammys are really good. When I try a sammy I'll update my review!

Best "Baltimore" cheese steak around! If you are going to get a cheese steak here, get it with everything aka the Baltimore style (lettuce, tomato, mayo, onions and hot spread). They wrap it up in tin foil so it makes it easier to peel back and eat. Be sure to realize that a HALF is basically a "whole" sub anywhere else (8"). Fries are great, everything else is fine, what you would expect from a standard pizza place.

I dream about their greek salad. Is that weird? Well it's the truth, so I'll embrace it and scream it from the rooftops: I DREAM ABOUT PEPE'S GREEK SALAD! There, I said it. Every time I go to a pizza/sub shops I consider getting a greek salad. Almost every time it's either a huge disappointment or an even huger disappointment. Why can't they take a lesson from Pepe's?? Crisp iceberg lettuce, cherry tomatoes, red onion slices, greek olives, pepperoncinis, feta cheese, and the best homemade greek dressing thats wonderfully acidic and combines with the saltiness of the feta cheese for the perfect bite. YUM! Alright alright, I'm not gonna play like I roll into a pizza/sub shop and don't get some grease.. Pepe's cheesesteak is also DA BOMB!! I like mine with everything: grilled onions, lettuce, tomato, provolone cheese, mayo, and as many hots as will fit. ...and now I'm hungry.

I've only gotten cheesesteaks here, but it was very quick service and a great cheesesteak. Very friendly also.

I don't enjoy pizza more than when I have it from here: the sauce is perfectly tangy, the cheese is gooey and classic (a tad oily at times), and the crust is medium-crispy. Having tried the various gourmet/experimental pizzas in the Baltimore metro area, I much prefer the straightforwardness of Pepes. Perhaps I wish they had an array of toppings to choose from, but each and every time I choose to order from them, I am pleased. I think Pepes succeeds in providing highly satisfying and tasty food at ridiculously reasonable prices.

One of the best in Baltimore....Not worth traveling far for but definitely the best option in the 21209. What i like about the place is that they don't try to be anything other than what they are. Decent prices and above average pizza for a local Baltimore restaurant.

Food is decent but the people working the counter are usually rude. How about a smile and a "have a nice day"?

The food is..... Mediocre at best and what I mean is that I, Sean, has had better tasting food from roach coaches. To say the least the food isn't always the thing to make you come back some times it can be the service with a smile! Other then service it could be the speed in which your meal is service or just the entire transaction. Here they have neither of the three the service is awful I mean I felt as if I owed them something for being there, I said hi how are you the lady stared and said can I take your order she huffed and puffed and took it, well with the wait of the food my mouth was as dry as a desert so I ask for a refill of the flat sprite i had and she said "you can get it yourself"! Wow needless to say there is no need to go back when there's a royal farm right down the street!!

Working right up the street, Pepe's becomes the all-purpose go to. Huge breakfast sandwiches? Check. Overstuffed subs for lunch? Check. New York style pizza with plenty of cheese for late afternoon meetings? Check. The menu is extensive (as are the current renovations) and parking can be tricky at lunch (use the adjacent lot immediately to the north - it's also easier to make a left turn from) but this North Baltimore spot is consistent. Whether you want eat in or take-out it'll be hot and well-made. Daily specials are numerous, ranging from ziti to classic pastrami with mustard. There's definitely something on this menu for you. The pizza is good , but can be a bit greasy, so get napkins. The staff are great, and they're working hard, so make sure you say your 'please' and 'thank you'. Call ahead if you want the quick grab, because there's a breakfast and lunch rush.

In a town full of good pizza joints and sub shops, Pepe's really stands out. Their pizza has never disappointed--nice chewy crust covered in a pleasantly sweet tomato sauce and plenty of cheese and fresh toppings. The gigantic subs are even better--the Italian cheese steak (my favorite) is stuffed to the gills with steak, mozzarella, onions, peppers, and marinara. I've also eaten breakfast there a few times and have never been disappointed with the quality of the food. If there is one complaint I have about Pepe's, however, it's the eat-in service. Maybe I'm just ordering the wrong menu items, but EVERY time I've tried to eat-in I end up waiting 15-20 minutes to get my food. On two separate occasions, I've had to watch members of my party finish their meals before I was even been served my food. Granted, the place can get busy, but there really isn't any excuse that type of wait in a short-order diner. Fortunately, carry-out has never been a problem so I guess I'll just stick with that.

Best cheesesteak in Baltimore. It used to be much more grittier, and the place has a history with associations to a Baltimore chapter of the Greek mafia (no joking, go look up stories from the mid-90s in the Archives of the Baltimore Sun). I love the delivery and convenience of this place. They still reign as the spot to go to if you live in the Lake Falls/Mount Washington/Roland Park area for a cheap, and easy meal. I would not get pizza here though. The specialties are in the subs and sandwiches. BLT here is amazing as is the Chicken Parmigiana.

Well priced. Nice people work there. Food is good. Take out, delivery, and dine in options. Don't miss out on breakfast! Very good! Parking situation a bit weird. Currently undergoing remodeling, so the place is kind of a mess at the moment -- compressed and claustrophobic. Hopefully that will get better with the remodel. The tables and booths are complete shit. Old, sticky. Hope they replace these too. Go for the food, not the ambiance.

Subs and pizza are really good. Tried a Crab cake last night not expecting much, but it was the best crab cake ever. My suggestion is order at off times because they get so busy during Dinner and lunch hours you will have to wait a little while.

My wife grew up in Baltimore, so as a kid this was a regular spot for her. During a recent trip home to see family, she took me here for the BEST Philly Cheesesteak I've had outside of Philly. Great portions. My wife is kind of an HM customer...you know that scene in "When Harry Met Sally", where Meg Ryan orders everything off the menu? That's my wife. But the nice young servers patiently took her order without complaint. Unfortunately (I blame my wife's complicated order), her cheesesteak was made with green peppers she did not order. The waitress went back to the kitchen and straightened it out, and they made her a fresh sandwich without complaint. The restaurant is pretty small and every table was occupied during our visit on Superbowl Sunday. Thankfully Pepe's is currently expanding it's restaurant. The only downside: no alcohol. We'll be back!

A friend and I were crusing Baltimore's fabric stores and found ourselves in need of sustenance. She had eaten at Pepe's once before, but had been really hungry on that occasion so wasn't sure if it was as good as she remembered. It seems like a family-run kind of place, the way the staff hangs out and banters. The woman taking our order was clearly a pro and got our somewhat complicated order correct (onions on only half the pizza). While we were at the register some fried mozzarella sticks crossed the counter and they looked so good we had to have them. We also got a pizza with olives, spinach, and feta cheese. The mozzarella sticks were awesome. They were not your standard frozen wholesale. I could be wrong, but they appeared to have been hand-dipped right before going in the fryer, and the breading was smooth (as opposed to the coarse grainy wholesale frozen stuff), not too thick, and nicely flavored. They came with marinara sauce for dipping. I didn't ask for Ranch (as a Texan, that is my usual dip for mozz sticks--I eat them maybe once a year, so I'm gonna indulge). They were crisp and hot and stringy but not too melty--a sign of quality cheese. The pizza was sensational. My friend and I kept debating whether it was the crust or the sauce that was so good. I said the crust: it tasted like it had a really long rise so there was lots of fermented yeasty goodness and depth to it, and it had a tiny bit of sweetness from that process and the caramelization of the hot oven. She said the sauce: it was applied with a light hand, and so it was present but not overpowering and had discernible garlic and flavor. The mozz cheese was generous and good quality, ditto the feta, and the spinach was excellent. I ate more than was good for me, and stopped only because I feared bursting my stomach. Tiny gripes: -The mozz sticks came out with the pizza (would have preferred before), and an order number was shouted but we hadn't been given a number. After a while we recognized our food and picked it up. -You can't get your own water, it comes from the fountain behind the counter in a styrofoam cup. -There is only one large shaker of pepper flakes for the entire restaurant, so you have to keep getting up to get it with each piece of pizza.

The aspects of this place that stand out is the staff. There is a lot of back and forth banter, yelling, accusations, and playful arguing. They tend to neglect the orders to serve their thier conflicts and miscommunications. I ordered a veggie melt. I stood there for a half hour waiting for it. I saw a dozen sandwiches come before mine. The yelling of orders from the cash register to the cook staff is not the most efficient and reliable system. Their menu is redicious in the fact that they must have hundreds menu options. Seriously. The options here really cover many ethnicities and combinations. Overall, not the best place for date night or hanging with kids. But, a good stop if you are looking to grab something to please everyone. My food was not overly greasy. I was satisfied with an 8" sub and fries. It was well-prepared and really tasted great.

I frequently order pizza for delivery from these guys for my youth group, and yes they tend to be rude, rude, RUDE! The pizza is ok...larger than say boli's, and a little cheaper. Customer service is far from their forte...and I hope they figure this out soon, as their attitudes leave a bitter taste that carries on longer than their mediocre pizza.

My running group has been meeting at Pepe's several times a year for a few years. We start our run from the restaurant and eat breakfast after. We've had an arrangement to either park in the back parking lot or across the street. This week, as we were gathering the owner told us that our presence would make the restaurant look too "busy" and we would drive the customers away. She also had folks move cars from the back parking lot. I guess she doesn't need the business of 50 hungry runners! Most of us live in the area, and after this bad experience I doubt any of us would return. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast across the street at "Bonjour", where we were warmly welcomed.

This place is the best. I have been going here for 15 years. When I moved to FL then to CA I looked forward to coming back just for their pizza ( not to see the fam ) J/K. But seriously this pizza is great. They have a lot of other stuff on the menus as well Breakfast, subs, etc. You really can't go wrong.

So I see there are two Pepe's listed, but they are the same... I used to live in Mt. Washington and had Pepe's pizza on speed dial... they delivered and the pizza is great. I since moved out of that 'hood and on a recent excursion to Whole Foods decided to go sit in the restaurant. I suggest always ordering delivery. Service was RUDE ruderuderude.. but food was great so I don't want to write it off. Maybe we hit a bad night.

Lots of choices of good food!

Had a cheese steak and it was pretty solid. And they deliver so good new for me. I like the food will definitely return .

(4)Gary J.
Food is decent but the people working the counter are usually rude. How about a smile and a "have a nice day"?
(2)Sean T.

Excellent service ..very friendly atmosphere & hands down best pizza & breakfast in Baltimore

Very great food. I was a first time visitor even though I live in the area. One little problem with the highchair and the server (I think) Alyssa fixed it with no hesitation and was very friendly. Very pleased :) Will come again soon!
(5)Santana Ross W.
I only order the crab cake sub or sandwich from here when I am at work. For a carryout it is pretty good. Will order again.
(4)K Darrow B.
I have really just one request: please have a space that is tv-free. The TVs are everywhere. I would like to eat and enjoy my food without the glare and blare. I'm not sure I can come back and eat-in.

(4)Jeff S.

(5)Jennifer C.
Good food. Love the 30 cent pizza!!. Staff is always nice unless they are overwhelmed.
(4)Angela M.
