I'm rating this as a fast, casual pizza place. Not as a nice, sit-down restaurant where decor, ambiance and service matter. This place is a pizza spot. They always have new and fresh pies baking, so you walk in, choose what you want (or customize), pay, they call your name, pick it up, sit, eat! Quick and easy. They have lots of other specials of the day, beer/wine, salads, pastas. The pizzas are excellent. They offer NY-style, big-ass slices on a chewy dough base that gets a gift char in the oven. The crust is thin and crispy, and they load up the toppings to the edge so there isn't too much crust. The sauce they use reminds me of street pizza in Manhattan by Penn Station. Yum! Good lunch deals. Check it out.

I'm a big fan of pizza so I've been to many pizza-serving places before. Thus, I'm pretty spoiled when I compare Pasta Mista to the rest. This place provides a great variety of choices, from options such as spaghetti pizza, philly cheese steak pizza, and double layered pizza to chicken parm pasta, calzones/strombolis, and a mix of salad options. The price is great and you'll get your fill, but it's just another decent pizza place. That being said, I live only 4 blocks away from the Canton location and this is my go-to place whenever I run out of food in my fridge. And I still haven't gotten tired of it.

Had the chicken vodka and it wasn't remarkable. Wouldn't go back, perhaps I should've gotten the pizza?

This place is one of my go-tos for quick italian. Everything is really fresh and delicious. I've had different pizzas, subs, and pastas. Recently, I had the chicken parm sandwich on focaccia bread and itw as so good! I love the marinara sauce. Their garlic bread was really good too. It had cheese on it and different seasonings that made it a little nicer than what we're used to. I wish they delivered!

In general, I like all of the Pasta Mista locations. This one just happens to be within walking distance from a kid I babysit. So we come here often. The subs are pretty good, as is the pizza. I personally love the tortalini tricolor pasta, but it can be heavy in your stomach. This place is slighty more expensive than the Towson and Lutherville locations, by at least $1.

Situated in a small fast food section conveniently arranged for employees/residents in the Harbor East/Fells Point/Canton, Pasta Mista of Brewer's Hill is great for a lunch time option. The customer service here is informal and friendly. Dining space is small yet the structure of the place makes it seem spacious and open (just watch your booty walking past someone's table so as not to get pizza sauce on it). I love the salads here. They are chock full of goods and not just a bunch of old lettuce with tons of core to boot (I HATE lettuce core). In fact, the salads are so satisfying I've left there patting my full belly as if I ate a few slices of their pizza so SCORE for healthful eating with a no-guilt finish. The cheesesteak subs come with great reviews from my friends and, as you can see, the varieties of pizza are plenty. I'm a fan of the Murillo pizza (mushrooms, onions and banana peppers) and I also like the caprese sticks! Very fresh but it's something about the combination of the mozzarella, tomatoes & olive oil that taste like bologna when you are burping for the remainder of the day. TMI yes, but hey I'm forewarning you so that you know to have a couple sticks of gum handy for the next several hours after you eat one. Prices WERE pretty reasonable but after a recent price hike & the salads going up nearly a dollar, I'm going to have to downgrade that statement to a "prices are ok" for lunch but if I were to choose one over the other for the best/healthiest value I'd still recommend the salads.

I love this this place. Great atmosphere and good food. I've only had their pizza and it's absolutely great. The crust is not thick like some other hand tossed pizza places and it's not actually like a thin crust pizza too. It's pretty much the right and perfect crust. They have all the different types of pizzas on display for you to choose. While they may be sitting out there for a bit, they do a good job of heating it up in the oven to make the crust and toppings perfect. Personally, I tell them to heat it up a bit longer than usual. Try the meat lovers, regular pepperoni, and 3 cheese pizza as your basics then explore from there. They also have Peroni beer on tap. I spent 3 months in Italy and fell in love with Peroni beer. However, upon returning stateside store bought US bottle beer was not the same. Reluctantly I tried the Peroni here and it as pretty much the same as I had in Italy. It's hard to describe and most people may not notice. But after drinking it for 3 months in the country it's brewed in, the tap at Pasta Mista is the closest I've had. Props to them. Check them out.

Not bad!! I was pleasantly surprised for a neighborhood pizza joint, the pizza slice I got was really good!!! When you walk in, it looks like a typical pizza joint with a list of subs, pizzas, pastas, etc. The people were really nice though. I just got a slice of plain cheese, it was a pretty large slice, and the crust was SUPER crispy and thin- SO good!! It's the closest to NYC-syle pizza I've gottten in Baltimore, so I will definitely make my way over there again. Kudos to this place! I'll try some sandwiches and pastas next time since I've heard good things about it.

Very yummy pizza! They have a nice variety and some unique selections for pizza to fit pretty different moods. Some of my favorites are the chicken pesto, white veggie, murillo and buffalo chicken. I've also tried their tortellini, greek salad, and cheesesteak which are all satisfying. It's a nice place to go to for lunch since its a quick eat. The parking lot can get pretty full if you go during a rush time though.

The five stars is only for the CHICKEN PESTO dish. This dish alone, is my favorite dish in all of Baltimore. I'm not joking. I crave it all hours of the day, and I would die content if this was the last thing I ate. It's not chicken pesto in the most traditional sense. It's a creamy tomato sauce to die for. Whoever reads this....please please please go eat this. Getting anything else, and you'll be disappointed.

I'm from New York; I'm picky about my pizza. Pasta Mista has the best pizza in Baltimore. This pizza is authentic and delicious. The cheese doesn't taste too cheap and the sauce is well-seasoned. The crust is thin and has a lot of flavor. If you're looking to buy by the slice, they usually have multiple varieties to choose from and they are fresh; you're not getting a slice that's sat under lamps for hours. The salads are huge and the sandwiches are a big portion. The place is kept clean and there are multiple TVs in there so you can usually catch up on the latest ESPN happenings while eating. You can almost always find a seat.

A little pricey, but I love that it's actually owned and run by Italians and the food is fabulous! There's a HUGE array of pizza options to satisfy anyone's taste buds, and if you don't like pizza, there are subs, salads, pastas, etc. Can't wait to try the pesto gnocchi! Needless to say this has become my new lunch spot of choice since i relocated jobs from DC to Baltimore!

I must be a contrarian. Very disappointed in the large special pizza we ordered for take out. It was supposed to have sausage and pepperoni. If there was sausage there it must have been ground mighty fine because it was invisible. It was supposed to have double cheese. The extremely thin, sporadic layer of cheese in this pie could never be considered a double layer. As for flavor, pretty average.

I go here quite a bit for a quick slice of pie or to-go pasta dish. The pizza is always good and they offer up a good variety of specialty pizzas. I have had the baked ziti also and it has been expected. The prices are very fare and is always good for a lazy Friday night.

For the longest time I avoided this place because I thought it was another chain. My neighbor finally made me go (I only live a couple blocks away) and I left with egg on my face. First it is a local chain with only 3 locations, so not a real chain. The pizza is New York style. They have some pretty good options. I really like the white pizzas. The greek salad is a good pairing for the pizza. I also have had their wings a few times. Not bad and affordable. Easy to park and quick.

The pizza is outstanding, but for my money, I'm nearly addicted to the build your own calzones and strombolis. Get it with pepperoni and breaded chicken. Call ahead ordering is easy and fast!

I've only had their pizza numerous times, just cheese and pepperoni and I have not been disappointed at all. It's delicious, not too greasy and it doesn't taste like cardboard!

Finally found some great pizza! We moved from NY 2 years ago, and have been searching for some good pizza for awhile. We got the margarita pizza, and it was delicious. I do think it was on the pricier side, but worth every penny. We will definitely be back to try the other kinds of pizza, salad, and pasta dishes. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

I live in glen burnie, and I will travel the 45mins for this pizza. I consider myself a pizza expert and they def have one of the best pizzas I have had. The 3 cheese white is AWESOME, actually cravable. The staff is very nice and always pleasant. I ordered 3 pizzas from here and went to pick them up for a birthday party, when I got there I tried to pay with my discover card but they dont accept discover. I go there alll the time, Nonetheless they let me take the pizzas home and pay them the next day. Which is so greatly appreciated bc they saved me from the embarassment of showing up with nothing for the party.

I really wanted to like this place based on the reviews but I was unfortunately disappointed. My wife, 2 boys (age 4 & 7) and I stopped in for a bite. The atmosphere was like Mama Ilardos (shopping mall food court) and the food equally anemic. I had a meatball sub and the meatballs and sauce lacked flavor. My boys had a cheese pizza that was so tough I couldn't cut it with the knife they provided. On a positive note, my wife ordered a chef salad that was quite good and quite large. The restaurant is conveniently located across the street from their swimming lessons at Merritt Health club so we will probably be back...not because the food is awesome but because the location is convenient. I will be going in with the expectation of getting food court pizza and will temper my expectations. Hopefully I am pleasantly surprised next time.

While the "dining room" is self service and in a strip mall, the pizza is pretty close to NYC quality pizza. Which I might add is surprisingly difficult to find in Baltimore.

It happened. It took 2 years, but it finally happened. I found pizza that is just as good as NJ pizza. The crust, the sauce, the cheese, the italian accent yelling out your slice when it's ready from the oven....it's all there and it's all right. We live in Mt Vernon, and you can bet your ass we'll be trekking across the city to Canton for pizza from now on. Mamma, I'm home

My favorite pizza shop throughout the Baltimore area. Many slice options available to order and the subs/salads are very good as well. I stop here as often as possible...

I can't speak for the entire chain, but the Canton location leaves something to be desired. I've ordered a few times on different days and at different hours. The food is just blah--their pizza is overly greasy and the pasta is consistently bland.

This place is a savior on days when there is nothing at home to eat. DECOR: Not a wow interior but the place is quite clean! FOOD: I usually eat the Chicken Parmesan Pasta and its very yummy and Pizza slices that are available on the counter- they are good too.

Updated review after going in tonight. Ordered four slices, paid cash and put a nice tip in their tip jar. The young lady that took my order was friendly and helpful so all was good. Then I noticed an older stock male employee that seems to be running the show, so I don't know if he is a manager or worse an owner (worse because then nothing will ever change). He was rather short and pushy interacting with several customers that ordered prior to mine. Once my order was ready I interacted with the employee boxing it and mentioned I ordered four slices not three. He cut into the conversation saying that was all that was on the ticket, so now it seems it was apparently my fault in his demeanor. Instead of trying to fix the situation he is stone faced and looking like he would rather argue. So, unless there is some follow up with this, I highly recommend other locations for pizza. While the pizza here is decent, customer service sucked, and it annoys me that I had given them a decent tip.

When I lived in Fed Hill, I would drive all the way to Canton to get a slice here! It's that good. This place has specialty pizzas, like spaghetti pizza and buffalo chicken pizza. Check it out! I think the owner is a big soccer fan because it's always on the TV!

Best place around for slices- everything is awesome just get whatever looks the freshest. Tortellini Rosa with the cream sauce is amazing as well. The only bad thing is sometimes they don't heat slices all the way through so maybe ask them to overdo it a bit.

  • Rach K.

Yum! This is a typical chain restaurant-y pasta/pizza place with the typical fare. The food is decent, prices are affordable, and portions are incredibly generous. I haven't had the pizza, as I had a bad experience with MD pizza crust already (it was like apple pie crust, crumbly and flaky, not chewy and crisp) but I had tortellini and it was really good. I was half-expecting it to be sort of gummy and have that supermarket salad bar buffet stale-taste to it but I was pleasantly surprised. I requested them to go light on the sauce, and they listened (bonus points).

I've been coming to Pasta Mista for years, though I originally bought my food mainly from the Towson "headquarters" before they expanded. I've always loved their pasta dishes, and thankfully, the Canton location isn't much different from the Towson or Timonium stores - at least, the food isn't. However, the difference in price (a full dollar or more in some cases) is an annoyance - really, I know that people tend to have money in this area, but there's no justification for the price hike, guys. The last time we were here, I ordered my favorite gnocchi napoli (potato dumplings with a tangy, tomato-flavored rose sauce), and my husband had a ginormous slice of chicken ranch pizza, as well as a plate full of pasta bolognese. We were both very full and quite satisfied with ourselves afterward, I can assure you. The atmosphere is fast casual, although there's seating available (it tends to feel less cramped in this location, even though there's really not many more tables than in the Towson store). They do a brisk business here, even so. The pizza has always been fresh and hot - perhaps we're just lucky and catch them at the right time, who knows. I have seen dogs in here, which I'm not real thrilled about. I understand that this area also has a lot of dog owners that like the convenience of being able to take them everywhere and anywhere, but as a consumer, I just don't want animals in restaurants unless they're a service animal - it's a sanitation thing. It's not enough to keep me from coming back, but it is a pet (hah, hah) peeve of mine that I would be remiss not to mention. The air conditioner over the door (I think it's an AC, anyway) tends to be REALLY loud when you enter and exit - it does tend to take away from the "ambiance", what little there is. I'll eat here if I'm in Canton, but I much prefer the Towson store - if for no other reason, it's because the prices are cheaper there.

Great for grabbing a slice or hero. Got dinner for 2 on a Friday night for $14 (a caesar salad, a slice of chicken parm, a slice of hawaiian, a soda). Seating is available inside or outside. Being from NY, pizza is everything. This pizza is preeettttty good!

    (4)
  • Rachel L.

When I went to Towson, my go-to spot to grab a slice was Pasta Mista. Hands down, Pasta Mista had the best pizza and pasta in the area. When I moved downtown, I figured that I'd have to find a new spot to grab a quick slice of pizza. Fortunately for me, Pasta Mista has another location in Canton that my roommate and I can regularly visit, just like we did in college. My roommate always orders the same two items at Pasta Mista. She starts with a slice of Pizza. The pizza is New York style topped with cheese and red sauce. It may look like nothing special, but this pizza is really delicious. My roommate also ordered French Fries. The fries at Pasta Mista are thin cut and you're served a fairly large portion. The fries are nothing special, but they're a great accompaniment to a slice of pizza. For my meal, I deviated from my standard slice of pizza and went for an order of their Baked Ziti. The portion of baked ziti is fairly large and the pasta is topped with a generous portion of sauce and cheese. It's delicious. The baked ziti is served with a complimentary side of Garlic Bread. The garlic bread is buttery, garlick-y and a perfect side to the pasta. If you're looking for an awesome slice of pizza or some other Italian options, head over to Pasta Mista in Canton, you won't be disappointed.

I've only tried the pizza here once and I would call it good but not excellent. The staff was friendly and our order came out pretty quickly. Price was good for what we got. Nothing about Pasta Mista really stood out, but for what I needed to do (feed a half dozen people quickly and for a reasonable price) they did a very good job.

  • Mike P.

Been stopping through here for years with my friends. Whether staying in Baltimore or just driving up 95, I always try to grab a slice or two from here. As a guy from New York, their slices are always something I look forward to when away from home.

Good pizza, great pasta, quick and affordable. Beer on tap and wine by the bottle. The lobster ravioli is tremendous.

Pasta Mista in Canton offers a variety of foods: pastas of course, pizza, subs/sandwiches, salads, calzones, desserts, etc. They offer quality cooked food at inexpensive prices, which can be hard to find. I've been several times enough to know the place and recommend trying it out. Their pastas are really good, the sliced grill chicken pieces they use really compliment their pasta not to mention the sauces this place uses seem to be their own at least for some of the pastas. As for their pizzas, they have many pizza variants, their pizzas are thin slice, and are quite tasty. Their subs are also quite good. Overall, this is just a solid Italian restaurant.

  • Kizzy D.

Really unimpressed by Pasta Mista. I've only tried two dishes--the pesto penne and the chicken parm--so I can't in good conscience give it less than 2 stars. My girlfriend had another pasta dish that she didn't like and didn't finish. Other reviewers like the pizza, so maybe it's a pizza vs. pasta issue. The idea of a fast and easy italian take-out place is really appealing to me, because I like pasta and I'm often getting food on the go. But Pasta Mista's pasta dishes are overly heavy and unappetizing. Confusingly, they also refused to replace the chicken in their standard penne pesto pasta. I had asked for sausage instead, and they were happy to give me sausage, but they just wouldn't take out the chicken...which struck me as weird. I ended up with a pasta that had both, even though I would have been willing to pay the same amount for a pasta without the chicken. Does this mean it's a pre-made dish? Regardless, I was willing to love it but ended up with a brick of overly-sauced and greasy pasta. With Veni Tre moving in across the street in Canton Crossing, people that want a quick bite of Italian at least have a pretty good alternative.

  • Brandi P.

I never have anything negative to say about Pasta Mista. The service is friendly and efficient, the ambiance is inviting and the food is always fresh and delectable. I had my roommate try the Spaghetti pizza and he feel instantly in love. I mean.... who can really go wrong with a thick slice of pizza, spaghetti on top of the crust and then latticed over with more crust. It has the perfect crunch to gooey ratio. The only reason this Pasta Mista is getting 4 stars is because that parking lot is brutal. Good luck finding a spot and if you do, watch out for your doors - you'll be sure to have a couple of dings and dents once you leave.

We stopped here for lunch one snowy afternoon so this prego lady could get her pizza fix. I love me some pizza! I tried a meat special and a slice of the Chicago style pepperoni. My husband got an Italian cheesesteak. He said his sandwich was good but wasn't blown away by it. I would next time skip the Chicago style and just get the normal crust they offer. The pizza was good, once again not blown away but good. They have a lot to choose from which was nice when you order by the slice. Still trying to find that pizza in Maryland that blows me away, searching, searching....

Pepperoni pizza is solid, kind of greasy and thin crust, but tasty nonetheless. Reasonably priced and have great lunch specials.

Huge calzones with a low price point. I love the inside, which isn't grimy like other pizza dive-style places. They stuff your pizza and calzones with lots of ingredients and they're generally pretty quick and friendly. Totally worth a trip if you need to satisfy a craving form meaty, cheesy deliciousness.

I love love love Pasta Mista! The pizza is so delicious, crispy and cheesy - Very authentic Italian. The staff is always energetic and positive. My only downfall is that this location no longer serves Mondragone pizza by the slice - my ultimate favorite.

First time leaving a review on here becuz I haven't encountered a 5 star sub shop in my life like everything you want from any establishment not just a sub shop Pasta Mista has it. Amazing food, clean environment, friendly staff, they haven't messed up a order yet and we go there a lot. And my favorite thing about them they are quick man are they fast. My only gripe and it's a very small one is the prices and they don't have a lot of specials I mean the prices are not high but could be a tad cheaper but the food is worth the price

  • Garient E.

I've been coming here with my family since the first week they opened. I'm very impressed with this place. The decor is pleasant for a fast/casual restaurant, the food is good (not knock-your-socks-off great), and the prices are really affordable. I always get the same thing, chicken parmesean pizza and the mondragon. Reliably delicious every time. My son adores the chicken parm pizza. My wife gets the philly cheesesteak sandwich, which she swears by. She's had a few pasta dishes and the lasagna is packed with meat and usually lasts her two to three meals. Friendly staff, quick service, and all the international soccer that you can watch! What's not to love?

PIzza Mista opened its sister restaurant in Canton and its definitely a welcome addition to the Baltimore pizza scene. Up until now the closest I could get to NY style pizza was Maria D's in Fed Hill or Dog Pub (but not really). Finally, a decent slice of pizza... and i'll gladly drive across the harbor to get it. We decided to try this place out for lunch yesterday... they have a huge selection of slices (probably around 10-12 different kinds), lots of salads, sandwiches, and pasta dishes. The chicken ranch slice was awesome. Nice and thin crispy crust and it came out piping hot with a nice little bit of char on the edges of the crust. We also got a salad (I forget which one) but it definitely isn't your normal "pizza joint" type salad. They used fresh mixed greens, fresh cooked chicken that was well seasoned, and the included veggies and vinaigrette were top notch. Definitely add this one to your list. P.S. gotta love how they keep soccer playing on the flat screen 24/7

Try the buffalo chicken pizza -- its a little pricey but worth it. Plenty of variety with a number of different pizza choices. I definitely recommend for those in the Canton area.

There are a lot of pizza choices in Baltimore and if you like pizza know some of them are much better than others. The interior fits the "strip mall" decor. The kitchen is open and is large. I have been here 5 times and it's always busy. The pizza is good. Not great, not bad. They have selection and some odd ones too. "Baked Ziti" pizza? Its not bad. If your fancy is cheese or sausage, then your covered also. The service is fast. The menu also has pasta, sandwiches and salads.

  • Jamie L.

For some reason I think the pizza tastes even better here than it does in the Towson location. This is my favorite pizza in Baltimore. It is fast, cheap and delicious. Crispy and thin crust, perfect ratio of cheese to sauce.

Definitely a fan of Italian food. Atmosphere is a must but with this busy shopping center I expect the rushing crowd. The food was good, the staff were friendly and it was so clean you could eat off the floor (at least at the time I went in there). The employees seem to be happy and the jokes were hilarious. Kudos to Pasta Mista.

If I'm gonna be honest, I really didn't like the pizza here. It tasted like a Celeste frozen pizza fresh from my microwave. It had better crust than a Celeste, though. So, 2 stars.

I mostly frequent the Canton location but will occasionally stop at the Towson one as well since I work in the area. The Canton location is great due to the fact that is has much more seating than the Towson location (if you get to the Towson location at the peak dinner or lunch hour good luck getting a seat). The thing I like best about Pasta Mista is its fast service combined with a pretty good slice of pizza pie. They have a number of different styles (we are not just talking pepperoni and sausage here) and I tend to opt for the Chicken Parm pizza. A great stop after a late work day when you don't feel like cooking or a quick Saturday lunch stop. Keep in mind (as you can see in other reviews) they have more than just pizza. The tortellini, gnocchi, and sandwiches are all pretty solid for the price. I definitely reccomend to folks that come into town and have had quite a few out of towners there for a quick lunch stop.

  • Kristin R.

I've only gotten toasted Italian subs from here, but I've gotten a LOT and they are pretty great. The pizzas are supposedly ok, but I hear the pasta itself is amazing. Worth it for the sandwiches though, which cost me $5.25. Delicious. It's in a strip mall, but it's clean and decorated in an pizza shop style, but very clean and well lit.

My sister and I had lunch here and tried a few different slices. The ones with pasta on it are excellent. Really nicely done. Good balance of sauce and toppings -- best pizza I've found in the Canton area. I'm going to try one of their salads next time, they look really good, too. UPDATE: Continue to enjoy the variety of slices here; tried the eggplant parm last night -- served on a bed of spaghetti and piece of garlic bread on the side. the eggplant parm isn't overly breaded, good consistency. the spaghetti sauce felt like there wasn't much thought put into it, but adequate. I think I'll stick with trying the various slices here -- I haven't had a bad piece here yet!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
