Why, oh, why did I even think this place was going to have good food?!!! My son has been asking me to take him to OCB because he went there for dinner while on a school field trip. Well, he's 15 and practically any kind of greasy and salty food tastes good to him. But I have fond memories of occasionally going to the one in Laurel over 15 years ago and the food there was pretty good back then. So we decided to cautiously venture here for a late Sunday breakfast after early morning travel. BIG, HUGE mistake! They were getting ready to change over to lunch so it all looked gross and congealed. I was starving so I tried a few of the safe bets like french toast, bacon, eggs and sausage. Nope, not good. Tasteless and rubbery. The grits were like Cream of Wheat. The coffee was watery and my omelette was undercooked after waiting for it to be prepared for 15 minutes. I hate to say it, but we would've made out better at the madhouse of Golden Corral. Never stepping foot in OCB again.

My wife and I went here for the first time for breakfast on Sunday (19 Sept 2010) after much talk about how cheap it was. First off my wife found hair in her grits, the eggs were cold, and then there was a fly fries to a strip of her bacon. We got our money back and the customer service was good but the sanitary conditions are questionable.

I'm ashamed to admit I've been here, but feel responsible for writing a review. Stay away. The food at lunch is horrible, at dinner a bit better. On our last trip, the 'clean' plates were far from clean. My kids were commenting on the cleanliness of the place. The food here is right out of the bag, frozen and reheated. The employees go through the motions of doing their job, but you can tell they are not happy. I've been to some of the Ryans (same company) in North and South Carolina and find them much better.

Came here because they are in the same restaurant group as Ryan's buffet--on the way back from picking up family at the BWI Airport--but this one comes up short of Ryan's. First, the Senior luncheon price was ~$1.50 more here than at Ryan's in Martinsburg, WV. Ryan's brings hot buttered rolls to the table and takes drink orders...the wait staff here doesn't do that--these items are self service. The luncheon offerings are similar. Ryan's has a hibachi buffet where they custom stir fry what you want. Not here. What was really good here was the strawberry-dried cranberries-spinach-mandarin orange salad with raspberry viniagrette salad dressing, AND the cornbread stuffing. We were late enough that they brought out the dinner meats. Steak looked unappetizing. They had ham and roast beef. I mentioned we were there for "lunch" but the person at the carving station offered a sample of sliced roast beef that was medium-rare and very good. Bottom line, however, is that I'm on YELP now to look for another place for a late afternoon meal on the return trip to BWI. Any suggestions for cheap eats?

Not bad considering I got my meal for 6.99 and both kids ate FREE(Say What)

My first three sets of silverware were filthy. If it had not been for my son asking to go here, I would have turned around and left. The baked chicken was very good, about the only thing that looked appetizing to me. Pico de Gallo was very good, and the three bean salad. The "soft" tortillas on the taco bar were dried out and stale. There was not much of a selection, except for the desserts. There they had plenty to choose from! I bypassed the salad bar, because it looked too suspicious to me. The customer service was good, and the table girl kept things clean, but the silverware was a BIG turnoff for me. I won't be back here again. We had lunch here 6/18/15, BTW.

Just this location and one in Laurel is the closest driving distance. Not too many eat in this type of buffet but for an affordable you are get a decent food and set for the day, especially if you start your day with breakfast.

The cashier didn't seem to eager to get people through the line. Of course there was seating which was nice. The food selection was not as elaborate as I've seen at other locations out of state. I waited for the individual to cut the ham and beef for over 10 minutes. When I reached to do it myself he finally came out to tell me I shouldn't. All of the baked desserts we stale. And the chicken was definitely undercooked. I will say that the young lady clearing the tables did a fantastic job from what I saw.

The dessert selection is extremely good considering it's $9 total for the lunch buffet. Highlights- cute individually sized pot roast, lave cake, coconut cream pie, rice crispy treats, and chicken pot pies. The usual baked & fried chicken, mash potatoes, corn, cabbage, tacos and salad bar. Cons- the quality of the food is reflected in the price so manage your expectations. It's a buffet & can get messy. They should keep a watch on the cleanliness of the bathrooms.

Not that great at all..! yuck! Customer service was good and friendly! Eat out with my mom! She love the salad and the fruits! She got a coupon from a friend from work, that how we ended eating up here. ( $5.99) per person. it's not worth the money to eat here. Some are the food is cold and nasty.

Hahaha... This place was so funny to go to the day after Thanksgiving. My family didn't get a proper Thanksgiving dinner, so my sister and I wanted to go to Old Country buffet to satisfy our Thanksgiving craving. Okay let me start of by saying that when I usually go to this buffet I would say they have a decent line up of food. I would give it three stars, but the day after Thanksgiving, I would say one star... So average two stars. They usually have good options, but when I went the day after Thanksgiving we all thought it was comical and we were laughing at all the plates we were bringing back. This was because there was absolutely no protein to choose from. They only had chicken... And this one pulled pork thing that I did not see because it was so limited. SO basically our whole plate was filled with carbs. Hahaha and every time someone brought a plate back we would see if they got anything good and we would just laugh because everything was bread... Desert was old and cold. Everything seemed old and not fresh at all... Yeah so lesson of the story: dont go to a buffet the day after Thanksgiving. Oh and something really gross I witnessed- A father had two small children. He took his fork and got a honey dew from the buffet and gave the honey dew to one of his children. Then, he took the same fork and took another honeydew from the buffet with the same fork... And gave the second honeydew to his second child!!!! Ahhhh!! Not the buffets fault, but still grossssss

Customer service was good but still gave the place 1 star??? Got your money back too?! What you expect from a buffet?! To be super clean and have 0% germs in the air?? So they deserve 1 star??? Look, this is a chain buffet. Reasonable price for a reasonable food selection. The service isn't THAT bad and it's not great. The food itself is good considering it's a buffet plus they have a decent dessert bar. The place seems pretty clean, I've never had a problem with their cleanliness. They have mostly a home food selection from meatloaf, mashed potatoes and pizza to spaghetti, fried chicken, and veggies. It's a decent buffet to go to if you're around the area.

This place met my expectations - the food was gross and the place was not too clean. I was there with a large group of kids, and they seemed to enjoy themselves and the food. The service was okay but not great.

I miss the Hot Shoppes Cafeteria. Much more organized, with everyone having a place in a continuously moving line. A lot less problems with customers getting in each others way. With that said, I can tell you why I don't like this place. No trays, missing silverware, no dessert bowls or plates when you want them. The lack of healthy choices. I am not much of a salad person, but really like baked chicken breast and baked fish. They never seem to have sliced turkey when I am visiting. The last three times there was no baked fish or baked chicken breast to be found. The vegetables are usually very bland. Never any indication that anything is low sodium or sugar free. There is something strange about the broth in the chicken noodle soup. It has a thickener in it. Best to go after 3 pm when it is not so crowded. Whoever originated this rule not to include a drink in the price should be shot. This is the new trend at all the buffets, drinks are extra. I miss the old fashioned cafeterias. With the buffets it is total chaos when there is a large crowd of hungry customers.

The only thing keeping this from being a 1 star review is the mandarin orange chicken. Which was weirdly out of place nestled between the mashed taters and gravy servers. That was delish. That being said, the rest of it was horrid. Everything was luke warm and bland. The corn bread stuffing was more like a creamed corn cake if you can imagine that. Steak was ok. Fried chicken was oddly bland. The taco bar, my fave thing there was empty and had 3 day old beans only. When I asked if it was going to be restocked the rude employee said "What? What do you WANT on it" I had to walk him over and show him it was empty. The dessert bar looked like Oprah just went off her diet and was out to hurt anyone in her way. Seriously, it looked like a type 4 typhoon went through it. Too soon? :-) I got the last piece of Pumpkin Pie. At least I think it was. I've seen bigger slices in a Nightmare on Elm Street movie. The worst thing about it was the people. To describe the sound of 100 people slurping down copious amounts of lard is something I cannot, with all my writing talents describe. Though I am sure the same sound can be heard coming from a Kardashian Pool Party.

I love coming to Old Country Buffet because I am a bit of a glutton, I'll admit it. I always start off at the salad bar, where they have a great variety of fresh vegetables. There are also premade salads (potato salad, cole slaw, etc.) and fruits. Then I head over to get some soup (there's always a nice chicken noodle with lots of veggies, chicken, and noodles) and pick up some fresh bread. Afterwards, I hit the entrees, going for mashed potatoes, gravy (they have beef and chicken gravy), corn, stuffing, and depending on the day, they might have cornbread, fried shrimp. They have steak nights, also, and of course there's the ham and roast beef that an employee will carve for you. Then I attack dessert; my favorite thing to get is this chocolate cake that's not too sweet and a bit nutty. They have soft serve ice cream and frozen yogurt, along with other cakes, puddings, cookies, etc. They have fantastic variety and my family goes pretty regularly. Also, there's a fountain for sodas and you can get tea and coffee, all included in the price of your meal. I've been there for brunch twice, and it was really good. They have an employee making omelettes, which were delicious, and the breakfast selection is great.
