The buffet is such a great deal! Samosas, tikka masala, naan, and the fresh tea are all delicious. For only 9.99 at lunch I will definitely be coming back.

The ambience was nice but the food was terrible. Momo was dry and chicken sekuwa was like chicken fajita. Seikh kebab was simply momos filling on a grill. If you are looking for an authentic Nepali food definitely do not go there!

You can tell that this is a family restaurant, with at least one of the owners always there on the weekend. Come early for the buffet, so everything is nice and hot. Also, if there is no naan on the buffet, don't despair, there is waiter walking around with a fresh batch, so keep your eyes peeled!

This review is soley based on the lunch buffets. I personally enjoyed the food at Nepal House. Price for a lunch buffet was very reasonable ($10ish). The food was quite flavorful and more or less authentic. Our servers were friendly. I would return here for a lunch buffet and would recommend it.

The lunch buffet at Nepal House is great. Though the variety isn't its selling point, the common staples are available and the food is delicious. From samosas and tandoori chicken, to curry varieties and grilled vegetables, to sweet masala tea and dessert, everything was palatable. How the handle naan is clutch. They aren't made available in the buffet area. Rather, they are freshly baked and constantly brought to your table. Service is great, the area is spacious, and an $11 lunch buffet isn't something anyone can complain about.

Service is top notch. Very friendly, checked up on us at appropriate intervals, constantly filling our waters without asking. For dinner, we got the chicken tikka masala, goat curry, lamb sindaloo, and the momos. All were awesome. They even served us an appetizer on the house. Great service, great food. What more can you ask for from a restaurant?
(5/11/2015) Went with coworkers for the lunch buffet. The dining rooms seems much more open than I remember from the Mughal Garden days. The buffet was freshly stocked. Except for the now standard nods to the expected Indian buffet dishes, Tikka Masala, Saag Paneer, Korma, other curry and stew dishes were unfamiliar (but not in a bad way). Some interesting vegetable options that seemed rather plain but very fresh: steamed summer vegetables, sauteed mustard greens. Vegetable Samosas always a hit and not often on a buffet line, these were plump with potato and peas and peppery. The fried noodles, displaying their Chinese (by way of Tibet) origins, were very much like a fresh, crisp veggie chow mein. Service was very friendly and unobtrusive (to the point where they saw us continuing our conversation and didn't want to interrupt with the check, so I went and got it). Place was clean and very roomy. Looking forward to trying more traditional Nepali dishes on another occasion. Also secretly hoping for a surprise serenade by the owner, Prem Raja Mahat (the Bob Dylan of Katmandu)!

We went to Nepal house last night and really enjoyed it. We got the Tikka Masala, Chicken Vindaloo and Garlic Naan. The place was packed which is a good sign and service was great. We will be back!

We got the vegetarian thali (dinner) and it was so yummy! A variety of curries and a yogurt thing and really creamy amazing rice pudding. The naan was perfect. The service was very attentive.

A Groupon deal motivated us to visit this restaurant. Service was a bit disorganized, which made us question the foods we ordered. To our pleasant surprise, the foods we ordered were excellent. We will come back again.

My husband and I used a Groupon to have dinner here on the 27th. We got there at 6pm and ordered right away because we were really hungry. My Pinot Grigio was passable but my husband's Merlot had gone to vinegar. There was much confusion between the waiter and waitress and first one of them said they were out of that wine. So my husband ordered a Kingfisher instead and then there was more back and forth with them about bringing a glass of wine or the beer. Tiresome. At 6:30 we asked about our food and they said, "Two or three minutes". At 6:45 we asked again and the waitress came out with a samosa and a couple of burnt onion bhajis. She said that it was a zoo in the kitchen and she had grabbed something for us. At 7pm our meal appeared just as we were about to give up. My husband had ordered his Vindaloo shrimp to be extra, extra hot & spicy. The shrimp were bland and lukewarm. I had ordered keema matter (a lamb dish) and they brought me mutter paneer instead. I decided to eat it since it had already been an hour but the peas were hard and tasteless and the cheese rubbery. I gave up after a few bites. I complained to the manager and he offered to replace it but at that point we just wanted to leave. The waitress came back out and said, "My manager is yelling at me for messing up the order." Wow. An awful experience. Go a block down to Akbar restaurant instead and skip this place.

Overview: I was looking for soul food after a hard day of moving and this was absolutely perfect for the occasion. The flavors are spot-on! Food: YUMMMM. We ordered the Chicken Momo which were freshly made and meaty. I hate when restaurants are cheap with the meat filling. This was just right. The sauce that comes for dipping is great too--you can ask for a spicier version too. We also ordered the Lamb Curry which was wonderfully prepared. It was a tad bit dry but that is to be expected of lamb. The flavors were savory and aromatic. We also ordered the Vegetable Korma or as I like to call it, Creamy Veggie Goodness. Service: Staff is very nice! There definitely is a bit of a language barrier sometimes but that shows the authenticity of the restaurant. I've read some comments that talk about how slow this place this, but that is to be expected at a restaurant that tries to make things fresh. They warned us ahead of time that our momos would take 20 minutes. I'm cool with it as long as the reward is worth the wait. Ambiance: It is a very spacious restaurant with really great decor. I thought it was pretty fancy. Great place for a date I think--shows how cultured you are ;).

Disappointing. The place was empty and service was slower than my grandma ice-skating. The food was so flavorless. The saag paneer was so blah. The paneer tikka had cheese cubes that were 100% rubber. What's in this? Car tires? Hubby said even his lamb was just ok. I've never ever been disappointed so much by Indian food. It's freaking Indian food! It's supposed to warm your soul and season your life up. This place just got me agitated and left me smh. Skip. There's a ton of Indian options in this area.

We are big Indian foodies and this place does not disappoint us ever. They have Thali (the dish with many little bowls so that you may sample a few different options) available for both lunch and dinner which is RARE, let me tell you. It's my favorite option and I ask for it everywhere and get turned down 9 out of 10 times but not here. Their masala sauce is also very good, I enjoy stealing it from my wife to dunk my garlic naan into. They seem to make things here with a slightly healthier touch then most places and I appreciate that. The owner is so very kind and the staff are relentless in hoping you have a good time and are fully served. Its refreshing and an ease to eat here; even on the night of Pride when the street outside looked like a rainbow of drunks. They've recently updated the inside so if you haven't been here in awhile, expect a smaller bar and better bathroom layouts. They also have a huge table in the back so bring your lunch crowd, your kids, your boozy brunch crowd and enjoy. Definitely enjoy all their side sauces and if you like it hot, try the spicy pickles. It's more of a chutney of sour, diced pickles, but adds heat and flavor to any dish. Yum!!

This place is amazing! This is a must-try restaurant. I cannot say enough good about it so I'll leave it at that. Between the friendly service and the exquisite food, you won't regret trying Nepal House!

My new favorite South Asian restaurant is run by the Nepalese Bob Dylan: how many people can say that? The lady and I came here for some alfresco dining and ended up tasting the world. We got the Nepali Feast (for two!), and it lived up to its name. Nan, fried veggies, lamb curry, lentils, tandoori meats, and the dessert all wowed us. The service was fantastic and the owner and his wife, welcoming and cordial. If you are of the tippling kind, make sure to get a Taj Mahal beer - it is simple and refreshing and a bottle clocks in at well over a pint!

Went there for lunch buffet on a Sunday. The food is of a good quality and the staff is friendly. There are a lot of sitting space. However, nor the restaurant itself nor the food they serve leaves a lasting impression of something extraordinary.

I love Indian food, and discovered this place by chance as I was walking downtown on a summer afternoon. I always love Indian/Nepalese food so I wandered in with a friend for the buffet. The chicken tandoor was delightful, as well as the Vindaloo, and there was a wonderful dish called chicken 67 or something like that which was spicy and nice. The food was fresh, presented well and the staff was so warm and friendly. I found some new dishes at the buffet that I don;t usually experience at Indian buffets, My friend has a lamb dish which she savored. The only negative was that the rice pudding was a bit bland, but I can live with that, as I do not really like Indian deserts that much. I will be back!

I've heard good things about this place. Decided to order delivery. an order of kabas some lentils and momos not that hard or that much shouldn't take long to make. I ordered it at 6:55pm and was told it would be delivered by 7:45. I called them at 8:15 to ask where the food was the guy on the phone says "i don't know I'll ask the kitchen." I ask if my food was even made yet and he said he didn't know. Comes back on the phone said the guy already left 20 mins ago. The restaurant is 7min away from my apt. I told him this and he said nothing than just hung up. Dude didn't seem to give two shits about not having food yet and didn't apologize or give any sort of reason. Food finally arrived at 8:30 it was good but not amazing enough to excuse their shitness. I would suggest never ordering out from this place.

I ordered delivery from Nepal House and it was good! I recommend it. In the mood for something a little bit spicy, I decided to check out Nepal House because I didn't want to venture out into this cold weather we've been having. Delivery was 30 minutes earlier than expected, alright!! I had the lamb vindaloo and the onion naan. I recommend both, especially the onion naan. It naan is like most naan, but with bits of caramelized onions interweaved into it. So good! The lamb vindaloo was very flavorful, with a thick brown sauce to coat the rice it comes with. Spicy, but not extreme. The delivery experience was memorable for its timeliness and the sustainable containers were a welcome change from typical styrofoam delivery fare. The food came in a brown paper bag, no plastic! The containers were either foil or polypropylene thermoplastic. Those polypropylene containers are very reusable and recyclable, a benefit to the environment. Try out this newish spot and you won't be let down.

Good food & atmosphere, dismal customer service. First, the hostess couldn't get it that I wanted to dine in not carry out. After I told her table for one, she setup a table for two. Again I told her "one." The chicken korma was tasty and the chicken was tender but the naan was completely burnt on the bottom. No one ever came back to check on how my meal was or to refill my drinks. When i was done eating, the hostess came to the table and I told her about the naan. She asked me "do you want it to go?" "No" i said. If it was too burnt to eat, why would I want it to go??? Pay attention to the customer! PS...the restaurant was almost empty. Couldn't imagine how much worse it would be if it were busy. Disappointing experience overall!

First time to dine here, last night after 9pm: had the mixed grill via clay pot. Sizzling to the table over veggies. Drink: Lassie/Salted. Food-a-plenty and well seasoned but allowing for meat flavors to come through. Attentive service and kind.

After picking a different dining spot for an evening in Baltimore, my date and I changed out mind and went here instead, because the other place was across the street (too far away). Traffic getting to Baltimore was atrocious, as always, so we were pressed for time before the symphony orchestra. Things always seem to take forever when you're stressed running late, so everything probably actually came out in reasonable time. Although my date didn't get her tea until after the food came out. Seems like tea should be faster and easier than food... We ordered a pair of samosas, the malai kofta, and a side of garlic naan. We both love Indian food and everything was delicious. My date's tea was too sweet for me, but she loved it. The main dish was brought out in a copper dish and they lit a candle under it to keep the food warm. Once we let them know we were running late for a show, they were very helpful in getting our check processed quickly and packing up our left-overs.

I will say that I was surprised how cheap the buffet lunch was - under $10 even after tax. The food was ok, but considering how many other Indian/Nepalese buffets are in the area, I'm not sure this would be my first choice. While the tandoori chicken was very tender and good, some of the meats in the curries were drier than I would have liked. The saag paneer was very bland. It might just be that they are still getting their footing, so I might come back and give them a try at a later time.

If you are looking for the best lunch deal in town, Nepal House is your place. I was skeptical of lunch at Nepal House, as I am of most "buffet" places. Something about multiple people having access to the very food I may scoop onto my plate just rubs me the wrong way my friends. BUT, my coworkers had decided this would be our rare Friday lunch outing, and who was I to be a Debbie Downer by reminding them of all the snotty-nosed folks exhaling their respiratory droplets into the air and into the open trays of food at the buffet? So I zipped my mouth shut and went along with it. At least I knew I'd get a yelp review out of it. I was pleasantly surprised. All of the food offered in the $10 (!!!!!) all you can eat lunch buffet looked and smelled fresh and overall, tasted good. Among the appetizer selection was a soup (don't even ask me what it was...), a variety of green-based and chickpea-based salads, samosas, and other fried vegetable concoctions. As for the main entree selection, there was a tasty curry cauliflower and potato mix, a creamy chicken tikka masala, a well-spiced lamb curry, a spinach and paneer entree, and chicken tikka (bone-in chicken rubbed in spices and baked). Sweetened and unsweetened chai tea, a rice pudding, and an array of fruit comprised the dessert options. I tried a little bit of everyone of the main entrees and they all tasted good, with the exception of the bone-in chicken tikka. The chicken was cold. I suspect this is because it did not sit in any sort of sauce that would have helped to entrap heat. Everything else was solid though. Was it the best Indian-Nepalese food I have ever had? Certainly not. But it was tasty and decent and more than GREAT for the price point. The chickpea salad (mixed with tomatoes, onions, and with a SLIGHTLY spiced sauce) stole the appetizer show. I actually went up for seconds of this. The lamb curry was my favorite main dish. I was actually surprised to find the lamb in the lamb curry to be tender (I was expecting it to be overcooked due to the constant heat emitted by those buffet trays). Much to my dismay, none of the food was spicy. However, they did offer 3-5 different side sauces from which you could choose. I think had I mixed in one or two of those into my main dishes, I would have gotten the spice factor that I so dearly love when it comes to this line of cuisine. I opted for the unsweetened chai tea for dessert, which was a very palate-cleansing end to a nice lunch. It was abundantly clear that the staff here is super attentive and really cares about the quality of the food and the experiences of their diners. I would take two sips out of my water glass before it would get refilled 20 seconds later. They were great at promptly clearing plates from our table, checking on the temperatures of as well as mixing their buffet food, and keeping the entire buffet area tidy. They were also quite kind and accommodating of our large lunch party of 9. I would most certainly recommend this place for their lunch buffet! I mean, $10 people! Although I cannot speak to the quality of their dinner or regular menu items, I'll give 4 stars for their bargain and tasty lunch.

This place was great! I love Kumari restaurant, which is another indian/Nepalese restaurant right across the street, but Nepal house wins!!! The samosas, chicken tikka masala, curry goat, aloo, the list goes on! The lunch Buffet was about $11 on a Saturday afternoon. I forgot my phone or I would've taken pics. Will return next weekend

This is one of our favorite restaurants in Baltimore, probably the only place to get authentic nepali food in the area. What I love most about this place is that the owner is super friendly and treats everyone as if they are a part of his family! We ordered the seekh kabob, goat curry, and momo. Everything was cooked to perfection, especially the seekh kabob it was scrumptious. We would absolutely return to try other items on the menu.

We reserved a table for a large group at Nepal House for lunch on Sunday. The owners and staff could not have been nicer. They were wonderfully accommodating, professional and welcoming. The restaurant serves a buffet with many meat and vegetarian options. The food was outstanding! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and look forward to returning. Thank you very much Mr and Mrs Mahat! Namaste

Food quality was outstanding as was the service. My friend and I had a bunch of vegetarian dishes, Indian and Nepalese, and we kept making faces at each other, everything tasted so good. When we were full, we asked to take the dishes home. The older gentleman brought take-out boxes and very carefully scooped each dish into the boxes, taking care to separate the flavors, and he even brought us more rice to enjoy with the vegetables. We chatted with him and told him we would be back as I live around the corner. He was extremely gracious, and for sure I will be going back frequently once I am back in the country.

I am always on the lookout for delicious Indian food and boy, was I happy we finally tried Nepal house! Where do I even begin?! The food- Amazing! So fragrant and flavorful with very generous portions! The rice is also infused with spices like cardamon and cloves along with veggies. They were also very accommodating. My girlfriend cannot have any garlic or onion so they customized three dishes from scratch for us! We had the Paneer tikka masala (they replaced the chicken with paneer because we are also vegetarian), Bhindi Masala (okra dish), Eggplant Bharta. I highly recommend their tikka masala. It is probably the best I have had in Baltimore to be honest! The other two veggie dishes we got were also very delicious and fused well together with our meal. I can't wait to return and try their other vegetarian dishes along with their lunch buffet! Go and try them out if you have a craving for some delicious South Asian food!

Man, I have been looking for a place that does amazing South Asian food place well, especially biryani. I no longer have a reason to drive all the way out to the county to get a decent biryani; what we had here was superb. Met the owner briefly before I got to pick up my carry out order; he was a very nice man and offered me masala chai as I waited for my order to be done. As my order comes back, he gave us gulab jamon, which was really good, as a parting gift. It may be of concern to some, but all the food is halal. For folks that care, that is pretty awesome. The decor might be a little dated on the inside, but that food is amazing. That alone will bring me back time and time again.

Turned out to be a very bad try . Not a good option for vegetarians . Starter just had samosa and main course dal makhni and Saag Panner ( which of course had no taste in it ) .phew ... Rice pudding was tasted like rice boiled in milk . No taste at all .

I was super excited when I learned that this place was associated with Himalayan House on Fort Ave (HH was my favorite delivery place when I lived in SoBo but sadly does not deliver to Mt. Vernon). I ordered delivery for the first time last night from this business. I can ecstatically say that Nepal House is my new go-to delivery place! The garlic naan, saag paneer and lamb vindaloo (with awesome heat) were fab! Delivery took the projected 60 min.

Went to their week-day lunch buffet, and the food was great. Tons of vegetarian options. The staff were really friendly (like, almost too friendly) and the dining room is nice. The art on the walls is kind of perplexing, but interesting. I would definitely recommend it to those in Mt. Vernon who enjoy a good indian buffet but are looking for a change from Kumari.

I've ordered delivery twice from Nepal House, and have yet to be disappointed. There are plenty of vegetarian options, which is great. The restaurant staff is super nice and helpful. One of the items I ordered was not included (not a big deal) and I called to ask if they would just give me a refund. They gave me a refund, and the driver came back to deliver the item, free of charge. Not at all necessary, but a very kind gesture!

I was walking past The Nepal House when it was under construction, and the owner invited me to the grand opening. The food was so good that I've been back every week since! A great option for vegetarians, even those who aren't crazy about spicy stuff. The lunch buffet is well-stocked and well-priced at $10 (including chai and a dessert option). The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is clean and comfortable. I highly recommend it for either dining in or delivery!

India is the birth place of Chicken Tikka Masala and Curries. Indian foods are prepared with a blend of finely mixed spices quite popular across the region. The spices develop the rich taste in Indian food enough to boggle your mind. The ever-increasing fan base of Indian food around the New York city is steadily increasing because of the large number of Indians who traveled to the land of dreams. The Indians also brought their very own vibrant, colorful, and aromatic authentic dishes for the people in the West. While most of the Indian population is Vegetarian, Indian food is great for people who are looking for vegan or vegetarian food option. If you are a Meat lover, don't get disappointed yet. Indian food also boasts of some popular non-vegetarian dishes too. Few examples are the famous Butter Chicken, Mutton Biryani and Tandoori Chicken are enough to satisfy your taste buds.
Indian food has gained reputation all over the world especially in the United States. You can find many places serving the appetizing Indian food across all major cities in the US. India is a diverse country with different food culture originated from different parts of the country. While the Northern region boasts tandoori dishes and korma offering royal taste, the Western Ghats offers sea foods that is made in naturally sweet tender coconut milk. The South Indian food servers a quality of different dishes made from rice accompanied with spicy chutneys, curries and famous sambhar. Also, the Indian sweets are a delight to relish. If you ever want to have a burst of sugar syrup in mouth, don't forget to try few Bengali Sweets. Be it spicy, tangy, or sweet flavor, you can find everything in the Indian cuisine. Be assured that the melody of spices will surely bring delight to you.

After a much heralded renovation of what used to be Mughal Garden, I decided to sample Nepal House's menu by way of their buffet and taste for myself what they offer the Baltimore food scene. The Décor: Brick walls painted white, an artificial fireplace near the back, framed posters and assorted culinary baubles throughout gave a pleasant enough impression; nothing trendsetting but the space was clean. The Staff: The waitstaff were very attentive and ever present, at times becoming a nuisance. Every five minutes someone would appear tableside asking if I wanted more water even when the glass was still full. In fact, the equally overeager maître d' brought the check while I was still eating. The Food: To quote their website, "... Authentic Indian, Nepali, Pakistani and Bengali Cuisine ... visit us for the real taste of Himalayas and you will never the authentic taste, we promise." The Saturday buffet offered about 16 items and contradicted the restaurants' claims of authentic food with two vegetarian entrees, "mixed vegetables" and "pasta," (actually Lo Mein) that were nothing more than run-of-the-mill Americanized Chinese food. The fruit, papaya and honeydew, were both underripe. The salad was blasé and some entrées were simply forgettable. However. The samosas had a golden brown exterior with a soft lightly seasoned filling. Sweetened and unsweetened masala chai were available - a fragrant blend of cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, black pepper and cloves that left a lingering warmth. Organic mustard greens had been prepared with whole chili peppers and while tender still retained their vibrant color and texture - I went back for seconds. The rice pudding was creamy and delicate with plump golden raisins, coconut, sliced almonds, and a hint of cardamom. Bless the chef who made the rajma; it was sublime! Spicy, aromatic, balanced and lovingly prepared. A sensory experience that left me sated and contemplative. The kind of food you crave and think about long after you've finished the last bite and wiped the plate clean.

Great service, delicious food! The momo and channa chaat were especially good. And there's outside seating!

Excellent food! I have gone to the buffet a few times and the food is fresh and delicious! I'm impressed also with the friendly staff. What a great restaurant!

The slowest prepared meal I've ever ordered. We sat for well over an hour. I will NEVER go to this place again.

Awesome service. The tandoori chicken was so yummy. We enjoyed the entire dining experience- I felt like I was dining in a long lost cousins home.

The lunch buffet was perfect. Properly cooked, tasty selections. Great rice pudding for dessert. Excellent service, wonderful atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Turned out to be a very bad try . Not a good option for vegetarians . Starter just had samosa and main course dal makhni and Saag Panner ( which of course had no taste in it ) .phew ... Rice pudding was tasted like rice boiled in milk . No taste at all .

Delicious food, excellent service. Everyone was so friendly. When we went home, we looked up the owner's music (Prem Raja Mahat) and he is amazing!! Beautiful music and a beautiful story. The Lamb roganjosh and tikka masala hit the spot!

One of the Finest Nepalese Restaurent in MD. Area. Kheer is unbelievable, reminds of some best restaurants in Delhi/UP. Icing on the cake is owner/Singer Prem Raja's Personal attention to each customer!
(4)Emily B.
Excellent chicken tikka masala, paneer, and naan. The wait staff was very attentive. My only complaint was the servings were smaller than I expected for $12-14 a plate.
(4)Josh F.
(5)Mark S.
Delicious food and great service! Wide selection of traditional Nepali dishes and go to Indian food.
(5)Hannah G.
