The food is good! The place is cute! It's right on the water in fells point! What more can you ask for? This place is a block away from all of the madness that exists in fells point. All you have to do is mosey on over a little.... Get the window seat! It's japanese style :)

Laid-back sushi spot right on the water with outdoor seating. Can't believe I've lived in Baltimore for years and never eaten here! The sushi is fresh and tasty, service was great and the interior is funky with interesting seating options. Will definitely go back!

BEST sushi in Baltimore- hands down! It is extremely fresh, good portions of fish in the rolls and delicious every time! They have an amazing selection of special rolls as well. If you're a fan of house salads, their ginger dressing is unreal. It's more lemon based and very light. You can go here if you're looking to sit outside and enjoy an amazing view (the restaurant sits right on the water) or get pick up mid winter and the sushi will always be amazing. This place is very casual and reasonable. I've been here more times than I can count.

First, we drive two hours for the BEST sushi on the east coast! The staff always recognizes us and calls us "West Virginia." Two words...Flaming Dragon! Served warm with spicy sauces that melt into the roll. All rolls here are excellent. We love the Flaming Dragon and the Fells Point Roll #2 that is hard shell crab tempura with Old Bay. Sit outside and enjoy the Urban Pirate boat crowd!

DONT GO HERE. I am literally appalled and shocked at what just happened at Nanami Cafe. After they once again left out part of our takeout order, the two rude employees I spoke with then proceeded to hang up on me when I called to ask about it because they said they were too busy. When I walked back to the restaurant in person to ask them about the missing piece of the order we'd PAID for and not received, they told me I was an ASSHOLE and to not ever F****** come back. And there was one table in the restaurant total so earlier when I called, the employee was clearly lying about being so busy he needed to hang up the phone. When I asked to speak to their manager, the five young staff members formed a line and said they were all managers and continued to curse at me. And again to not ever F****** come back. It's very disappointing as we've consistently ordered dinner from here at least 4x a month for the past two years, despite dealing with horrible customer service and extremely rude staff as a result of the convenience to our apartment and somewhat decent taste of the sushi. Our orders have been constantly incorrect, missing pieces, wrong items etc. Isn't the whole order of take out that you don't have to go back to your home and request what you wanted in the first place? a very frustrating experience that thankfully will be our last. Go to sticky rice or asahi sushi on Broadway for a much better experience and meal.

Foods actually really good to my surprise but the service so slow and so forgetful. We asked for a highchair clearly Bc we had a child w us and they never brought one over so I had to go get one myself, asked for hot tea about 4 times... They weren't busy not sure why they are so scatter brained. And the high chair put at the end of our tad why does the waitress keep bringing out the food and putting it in front of the baby !!?? Really lady and she brings out the udon and she goes be careful pot is hot and then puts it in front of my baby... Would go back Bc food is good better than Ra and not as crazy expensive as Azumi

Went on a Friday night around 9, and it was empty. I finally got to sit at one of those japanese tables by the windows, but it turned out to not be the best idea because we had to take our shoes off and it was cold outside. I tried the Onion roll: Tuna and cucumber on the inside and a fried onion and a dot of hot sauce on the outside. This roll was DELICIOUS!!! It was almost like a thin onion ring on the outside. The combination was genius. Next time I'd skip the Alaska Roll: It was just too big for a bite. There were other rolls that interested me more. Today, I'm still talking about how good it was. P.s. - try LivingSocial, they still may have a deal.

Came by in a group of 6, and the staff was extremely accommodating. Our individual orders were all placed on a boat for us at no extra charge, which made it very easy to share. Best of all - our server was totally OK with the youngest member of our party bringing in pizza from another restaurant to eat since apparently kids + sushi = probably not. Note: if your kid is a picky eater, there aren't too many kid-friendly options here. Looking forward to coming by again the next time I'm in the area - the booths by the window have an excellent view of the water. I highly recommend the Chesapeake Roll #1. Garlic makes everything better.
Although this is our first review for the cafe, we have been regulars at this place for about 1.5 years now and tend to get the same thing: edamame, fried tofu, veggie potstickers, veggie yakisoba noodles, assorted veggie rolls, and assorted mochi for dessert. Everything always is fresh, nicely presented, and pretty delicious (especially the onion roll!). We've had good luck with take out (properly packed and complete orders) and with eating in (the space is small but welcoming, and the service is efficient w/o feeling rushed). Last, although the staff may seem gruff at first, they do warm up to be quite friendly and fun!

I love trying out different sushi places to see what kind of exotic rolls each place has to offer. A must try roll you absolutely have to get is the Flaming Dragon roll. It is a little pricey, but totally worth it. The waiter brings this roll out in foil, then lights it on fire. That's right, LIGHTS IT ON FIRE! It had a smoky delicious flavor I've never had when having sushi. If you order enough rolls, they will bring you the sushi out on a sushi boat! That was incentive enough to my friend and I to order a ton of sushi just so we could say we had a sushi boat. The presentation was beautiful! It's nice that it is located right on the water so you can enjoy beautiful scenery while you enjoy your sushi.

Not the freshest food that I've had, the fried onion sushi was my favourite so far. Miso soup was good, the chicken teriyaki wasn't fresh according to my husband. We had the ume sake which was great.

In honor of this Japanese cuisine, I give you Haiku review! No shoes, get relaxed Cushions by window: cold but comfy and unique Chesapeake Roll One No raw fish makes this delish! Steamed Dumplings: Da Bomb Amy and Crunch Rolls Brian happily ate. So filling and yummy! Service was all smiles I may not eat true sushi but I love the rest!

Nanami was the first sushi restaurant I've ever eaten at, and I left impressed. I've tried sushi here and there, but never at a restaurant that was geared toward it. Going in, I admit that I was worried about the cost, but it turns out the prices here are reasonable. There's quite a selection of different sushi types, anything from raw fish to cooked to vegetable rolls. I was very impressed by the Spicy Tuna rolls which had a little kick to them. The California rolls were very good as well. They were neatly rolled, and everything tasted so fresh. We also ordered a dragon roll which was cut up in a twisting design across the plate. I can't comment too much on the sushi's contents since I don't know all of the ingredients, but I did thoroughly enjoy the meal. The dining room was pretty quiet inside, and I must mention that the presentations of their sushi platters are impressive. You'll be able to see that on any of the uploaded pictures here. There's a bunch of shredded turnips (I think) on the center of each plate. It's cool that the restaurant is located right on the water, and you can actually sit outside as well. I had a very good first sushi-restaurant experience here. Highly recommended if you're new to sushi or you like a good variety!

So I immediately wanted to know what options they had for cooked sushi, since the main ordering form didn't specify and our table was ordering. But I couldn't seem to make eye contact with ANY of the servers. I tried raising my hand, turning around half-body, and gaping with googly puppy eyes--but all that to no avail. Astonishing given that there were at least 3 servers in a very SMALL cafe and we were one of only 3 tables. A woman finally came over and when I asked her, she said something to the effect of "yea, we have some cooked rolls, check the form." I wanted recommendations, dammit!!! Right after I put in my order of California roll & dragon roll (booooring), I looked at the back of the restaurant menu and saw a part that indicated "COOKED" rolls. It was just one word in the corner but several cool pictures of rolls. I didn't want to hold up the others so I just went with my orders but it was kind of odd to me that when asked specifically for a selection of cooked rolls, the woman couldn't even point me to the pictures which actually looked pretty interesting. I would've loved to try those. Too late. That said, the sushi was fresh, and all were happy. Prices were pretty decent. I wouldn't mind coming again but I really hope they up the ante because I'm not even much of a "service" person, but to be ignored altogether was kind of weird!

As I attempted to drink from my empty glass that had been that way for an hour, I debated what to say about Nanami in this review. Here goes... Nanami is a reliably good, albeit casual sushi place located within view of the water in Fells Point. The venue is fairly small, but the wait for a table isn't usually too terrible. The restaurant offers several appetizers and other dishes and a large selection of sushi rolls. There is also sake and some other beverages available to order. I'm giving a three star rating, because while I've always enjoyed the food, there aren't many rolls that stand out. While I think some of the more expensive rolls are more eye catching in presentation, the more classic options are tastier and more authentic. And finally, as I implied, service quality is also sporadic. This past evening my friend and I agreed that it was the worst service experience we've had anywhere in a long time. Our server didn't refill our beverages once the entire meal, and didn't check on us at any point except to bring us our orders, which she seemed to do more as a chore than anything else. Then, we were brought the check when we hadn't even said we were ready for it. Unacceptable.

I don't write bad reviews unless I was really struck by how awful the experience/food was. If you have no clue how a decent nigiri sushi or roll taste like, this restaurant might be OK for you. We sat at the bar, and tried their "premium" rolls. They all tasted terrible, with tiny slices of fish that were not fresh. Their "kirin" beer tasted like the bottle was opened the day before. Decent location in Fells, and they seem to always run livingsocial deals but this is one of the worst sushi places in B'more.

Meh...Maybe the high reviews are from the lack of sushi options in the area? I don't get what the hype is all about. I wasn't that impressed. I got 3 rolls to share, and none of them were memorable. They try to make it "creative", but it ended up coming off from bizarre to lack luster. One of the rolls had roe on the outside. Translation: after they cut up the rolls, they sprinkled three pieces of roe onto each piece of sushi, some of which rolled off in the process. Another was "spicy" -- by that, they just squirted a dollop of what tasted like sriracha to each piece after it was cut and laid flat. It was a bit odd. I would have preferred that they try to incorporate the chili sauce into the roll more. Fish seemed of fine quality. Prices are reasonable, but portions are also small, so I seems in line with the price. They weren't that busy for a Monday afternoon, so I appreciated that they were pretty attentive, and kept coming by to top up our waters.

Solid sushi choice in Fell's. The outdoor seating here is nice as it sorta overlooks the water outside. We went on a Friday evening a bit later in the dinner hour. We were able to get a seat quickly, but it filled up shortly after we were seated. The service was fine, nothing remarkable, but good enough for a local sushi joint. Overall the sushi was good, we had some specialty rolls and a couple of basic california type rolls (great way to judge quality). They were a bit smaller than I felt the price dictated, but the fish was fresh and they were well constructed. I would come back, it's definitely a 3.5 star place, just wish the price was a bit less or the rolls a bit bigger.

My wife and I purchased their groupon and headed in 30 minutes before closing after lunch. The first thing our waitress said was can you order in 5 minutes since our kitchen is about to close, and yet they closed 30 minutes later. Not the best first impression and is the only reason we didn't 5 star Nanami. Atmosphere and view were gorgeous and sushi was tasty and well plated. The Chesapeake and Alex roll were delicious and yea they had gluten free soy sauce.

We go here every week because this place is the best! The prices are reasonable and the fish is fresh. They always treat us so well and it's hard for us to go anywhere else for sushi and not compare it to nanami. The location is awesome too. It's right on the water. We always get sake and a bunch of nigiri. Service is always amazing. It is our favorite sushi spot in Baltimore !

This place has great sushi at a great price. We had a "flaming" sushi roll which was pretty cool since they actually bring it out on fire. They also carry ramune drinks which is great! Food was very tasty and service was spot-on.

I have been in the hospital for a while, and my only options for food were either whatever I could find for delivery or hospital food (yuck!). After my discharge, my family and I went looking for some REAL FOOD, but weren't having much luck. We didn't want anything remotely fast-food-ish. We started looking at all of the local restaurants on yelp (local to Johns Hopkins, not to our home) and were surprised to see that most of them were bars/pubs/taverns, which is not okay, seeing that my three year old is with us. I also didn't want to be in a loud or obnoxious environment (I recently underwent a major neurosurgery and am very sensitive to noise and sometimes light). This sushi place was the closest one we found that had a four star or higher rating. I don't know how it got that rating, though, honestly. The service was pretty good but the food was not. Every piece of the sushi was absolutely fishy tasting. I eat a lot of sushi and when fish is fresh, it should not be ultra fishy. I ate anyway because I was hungry, but for one of the few times in my adult life, when we walked away from our table, there was a good bit of sushi left in our boat. I would not recommend this place :(

I was very happy to stumble on Nanami Cafe while running errands in Fells a few months back. I was craving sushi so saddled up to the sushi bar alone for some lunch. The spicy tuna roll was very good as was the Dragon roll, and they presented the food very well. Most importantly... they have Orion beer! For anyone familiar with the Japanese islandof Okinawa, you'll know how great it is to find a restaurant that carries it. I've been back with friends a number of times because of their food. They have outdoor seating in the warmer months right on the water.

Awesome sushi place by the Fells Point Harbor. Seats outside over looking the water. The ambiance is good here, its definitely a place for a one on one dining or a first date. Great service and a very good presentation with the sushi. Will definitely recommend this spot if you are ever in Fells Point. This restaurant was a stumble upon and didn't expect it to be good.

Came here yesterday for lunch with a friend. She's allergic to shellfish, so we had a few choices to choose from. We split 4 sushi rolls: the Mark Roll, the Oscar Roll (2), and the Crunch Roll. The Mark Roll: It had a very unique flavor with the dollop of hot sauce on top of each piece. Besides that, it was pretty standard. Good, but not great. 3 stars. The Oscar Roll: Whoever Oscar is is a friggin genius. This was the best roll I've ever had, and would single-handedly make we want to drive up from NoVa to Baltimore just to have this roll again. I've never had a fried roll before, and it has now leapfrogged to the top of my sushi roll list. Very crispy, it being a fried roll and all, and very flavorful with the special sauce. Loved it. 5 stars. The Crunch Roll: Just a standard salmon roll. Didn't taste particularly crispy, and definitely didn't taste or notice any eel in it. Again, good, but not great. 3 stars. Giving this place 4 stars thanks to my main man Oscar, whoever you are.

I've been here a couple times, once for miso soup when I wasn't feeling well and yesterday for some sushi. I work in the area and was on my lunch hour so I walked over and since I was alone, I sat at the sushi bar. I was immediately greeted by one of the sushi chefs and handed a menu and ordered a drink. I looked over the menu and I was really hungry so I decided the best choice was to go for the lunch specials. I gave my order to the sushi chef: sushi assortment of five pieces of fresh nigiri with a California roll ($7.95) and the choice of three rolls ($11.95). For my choice of three rolls, I went with two spicy tuna rolls and a salmon-asparagus roll. He looked at me and asked if this was to go and when I told him it was just for me he said "That is a lot of food, are you sure you can eat all of that?" I told him that I like sushi. :) A waitress brought me miso soup and salad that came with my order and a short time after that, the sushi chef handed me two large plates full of sushi. The rolls were large (8 pieces per roll) and served with plenty of wasabi. The fish in the five nigiri rolls was so fresh and delicious as were the other four rolls that I had. I ate all the sushi that was given to me and the chef was impressed. If I was not restricted to my one hour for lunch, I could have easily ate more! The sushi was good and I will definitely be back again. Next time I won't come alone so I can enjoy sitting at one of the cool tables on the floor with a view of the water.

Decent sushi, nothing special. I got miso soup, a seaweed salad, and the Crazy Rock N Roll. The seaweed salad was a pretty large portion, which I appreciated. The roll itself wasn't memorable. The best part of the meal was the traditional Japanese seating and the great waterfront view.

***vote BEST SUSHI in Baltimore! This place has humble surroundings but WOW I was impressed with the quality of the sushi. We walked in, seated right away, no problems with service. Started with the seaweed salad-good, normal. Had 5 specialty rolls and loved them all! The love / lovely roll was REALLY good. Their house specialty rolls are creative (but not TOO creative and weird) and well balanced. The best part was that as soon as the sushi touched my tongue it melted...and THAT is what makes good sushi ladies and gentleman. Had some nigiri that also rocked my world. I will 100% be back to Nanami. Was extremely impressed by the quality of the sushi.

This place is amazing. We got the avocado salad, three roles, and tempura banana for the dessert. Everything was fresh and amazing. We eat sushi all the time and this is by far the best. We didn't know what we were missing! It was a Saturday night and service was still excellent. Two thumbs up!

One of my favorite sushi places in baltimore - and a location to die for (always try to sit by the windows or outside). However, the ambiance indoors is lacking, so if you're super into aesthetics, this isn't the right place to be. Tip: be on the lookout for Living Social deals that they run in the colder months!

I'm spoiled with creative maki options at my favorite place back in Cincy, and was a little saddened that the "best" sushi place in Baltimore didn't have more creativity in their rolls. Went with boyf and we splurged on a few fancy/higher priced rolls - including the Flaming Dragon roll. If you'd rather taste fish instead of fried/mayo/cream cheese, stick with the cheaper rolls - they were much fresher and not covered in glop. I asked for a chef special roll, since the cafe was not very busy and I wanted to see what they had. It was not super original. Our favorite rolls were the simple tuna and yellow tail - they did a great job. Our favorite part was DEFINITELY the mochi icecream. Such a yummy treat for only two dollars! We'll be back, hopefully to try more. Still on the hunt for creative options in B'more.

I am not writing about the food but about the waitress here. She is absolutely very impolite and she always seems very very unhappy with customers. The other waiters here are all very nice and polite. Although we don't have many options for Sushi in Baltimore, Nanami needs to be aware of this and train staff more carefully :(

The sushi was above average. Unfortunately, the ambiance was so grating I could barely wait to leave. We came at 5 PM on a Friday evening, smack in the middle of Fells Point. We left around 6 PM. No one else came to the restaurant during that hour. The entire meal, workers were dragging ladders around replacing lights. The ladder legs scraped across the floor. One worker dropped a light bulb. The restaurant was empty, so the kitchen staff stared at us uncomfortably while we ate. Meanwhile, "Like a Virgin" and other pop tunes blared from an iPod hooked to a single speaker. Every noise was annoying--and there were lots of noises. Still giving three stars, because the food was alright and the service was friendly. My wife calls three stars "generous." I've traveled extensively, including several trips to Japan. Never quite had a dining experience like this. It's an experience I hope not to repeat.
(3)
Beth W.
The sushi was very good. The dragon roll was delicious. I deducted two stars only because they made us wait (we had a reservation for 8 but had to have a table leave before they could accommodate us which took an additional 30mins), their atmosphere I found lacking, seats were uncomfortable, and drink selection was bare. I still love RA more, but I'd get take out here if they have it.

Great location but not the best service, especially when they are busy. When they are busy they are plain rude. Slightly overpriced since on the harbor. Their unadon is only so-so. Maybe forego for some Fells Point classic bar food.

I love this place. It's my favorite sushi place in the city. The service is always good, the sushi is amazing, and my belly is always full and happy when I leave. In the summer, sit outside by the water - it doesn't get better :)

While Asahi Sushi is the better option for dine in sushi (it's BYOB) Nanami is definitely the better candidate for take out. The basic rolls are well done and the speciality rolls are creative and fairly priced. The Love Roll is the best roll I have ever gotten, and it's a combination you don't see often. The lunch specials are terrible and they don't have any chirashi bowls or anything, but the dinners are fresh and delicious!

Went here for lunch with some coworkers, but took our food to go back to the office. Definitely worth it compared to some of the higher priced sushi places over in Harbor East. I got the lunch special, which is two rolls, salad and miso soup. The ginger salad dressing is really delicious! I got the spicy tuna and the shrimp and asparagus rolls - definitely very tasty! Will definitely be going here again - a great lunch spot if you're in Fells Point!

Four stars for sushi, three stars for non sushi items! Went with a large group of which they were very accommodating. They place was crowded for a Wednesday night! Fast service. My friends all love sushi and say this place is the best place for sushi in Baltimore. I did try the spicy tuna and some of the vege rolls which were excellent. I am not a huge sushi person (sorry), but I tried the Yaki noodles with chicken which was quite strange. Tasted like ramen noodles with soy sauce and some random indian spices. I also had the pork shumai, I guess not the best choice at a japanese place. They were quite spicy with wasabi and not really my favorite. Despite being ravenously hungry I did not finish them. They did have many vegetarian options as well, which is nice since we had several veges with us. Would definitely recommend this place if looking for good sushi in baltimore. It also doesn't hurt that it is right on the water in Fell's

This was my first time to Nanami Cafe, and I can say with 100% confidence that this was the best sushi I've ever had! The prices were reasonable, and the atmosphere and food were excellent. Highly recommend the Love roll and Josh roll. I will definitely be returning very soon!

Every time I decide to give Nanami another chance they step up and show me just how consistent they are. They are fighting for the number one spot in the Baltimore sushi hall of shame. And they can't even get that right. I'm through with this disgrace. If you like this place you seriously need your head examined. immediately. Or you just love "sushi" rolls. I guess if that's your thing then you're lucky Nanami is here to part you from your hard earned cash. They couldn't pay me to eat this garbage. The sushi "chefs" here are self loathing, washed up, semi functioning alchoholics with no sense of shame. All they do is yell at the filthy line cook to fry them up some tempura which is guaranteed to come back in some inedible state of disaster. The young guys and the lady are nice but her brain is totally fried. If only they could get the food fried that well. Trust me. Please. Everything here is on the verge of expiration if not scrounged from the trash. I have no idea what kind of sub human animals think this is actually "food" or even a cheap facsimile of any kind of cuisine of this earth. This place can't even serve water. If you love recalled discount detergent residue by all means dine at Nanami and you won't be disappointed. But seriously, if you like rolls, ok you don't really know what you're eating so go here...but wait, they're charging minimum 10+ $ for rice cooked yesterday with dirty discount detergent water stuffed with rotting chum. If you like that great but it'll cost an arm and a leg.

This is a nice little Japanese place tucked away on Ann street. The place is very pleasant inside! And clean! We ordered a TON of food, but we had 6 people. The fried tofu was good, as was the edamame and miso soup. The California roll was pretty standard, but my shrimp tempura with Old Bay on it was mighty tasty. The crunchy roll, spicy tuna, and every other roll we had were great. We spent a little over $100 for 6 people, which is perfectly acceptable. This is a nice place to come to grab a bite to eat. I'll be back!

Our favorite sushi in Baltimore. We eat here all the time, both at the restaurant and carry out (they do a great job on takeout). Fish is fresh and delicious. They take great care with the presentation (who doesn't love when their sushi is artfully arranged in a boat?) and the variety of rolls is excellent. It is a also reasonably priced for the quantity and quality. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Love sitting outside by the water on warm days, but the inside is nice too. Some of our favorites: Chesapeake #2, Lee roll, Amy roll, Rainbow roll, sashimi (looks out for specials like toro and uni) - you really can't go wrong here!

Peggy K.
The sushi is pretty good here but nothing out of the ordinary. It is good to the point that I am a returning customer. The servers are super nice and the restaurant has a nice quaint feel to it. The one thing that did put me off is that they charge rice $2 a bowl. I think I may just be used to the free rice that I get from places in Montgomery County, but $2 a bowl is a bit extreme especially when the bowl isn't even that big. Other than that, this sushi joint is pretty good. I'd say this is one of the better authentic sushi places in the Baltimore city area.

Easily the best sushi place in Downtown Baltimore. Quality = epic. Pricing = epic. Setting = epic (right on water in Fells)

Nana nana....Nana nana...Na-na-mi...sushi for meeee. My friend Hannah and I stopped by Nanami for a girls dinner with a Groupon deal we'd purchased. I must say, I hope this little gem increases their exterior lighting, because you can barely tell it exists until you're stumbling across the threshold. Luckily, we knew full and well they existed, and made our way there accordingly. We were seated immediately at a window table overlooking the harbor. +1 for setting, Nanami. We had the miso soup and several maki rolls. I'm very picky about my miso, and this rendition hit the spot. Not too salty, with just the right amount of tofu and seaweed. For rolls, we had the spider roll (soft-shell crab), salmon and avocado, and the Chesapeake Roll (#1). Yes, they have 3 different types of Chesapeake rolls. As they should. This, of course, was my favorite. Crabmeat and cream cheese inside, tempura flakes, garlic sauce, Old Bay outside...all that is right in this world wrapped up into cute little medallions. Overall, the service was fast and friendly, the sushi was tasty, and rolled in *gasp* perfect bite-size portions. No Godzilla-sized spider rolls!! What a relief. I got to forgo my standard debacle of man-handling the end-piece. Any restaurant that helps me not make an ass of myself gets a return visit.

What some of us remember as Kawasaki Cafe is now called NANAMI cafe. It is in the exact same location as before. I think the owner must have left and returned with a new name. We go there when we need a quick sushi lunch or dinner. I tend to think that the sushi is better during dinner times. I like the location and I like the fact that we are always able to get a seat, esp. if the weather is nice and we can be seated outside with a view of the water. They offer a selection of excellent hot soups, on a rainy day, those really hit the spot!

I love this sushi cafe! Their food is delicious, fresh, and beautiful. We always try to order one of their special rolls when we go, and they are always delicious. Prices are reasonable as well.

Nanami Cafe is a rather small place buried at the bottom of Fell's Point right on the water. It a beautiful location on a warm day! The first time I went there I was looking for a place called Kawasaki, which I came to find out was actually the old name of this place. I had only gone to Kawasaki once many years before it closed and it was phenomenal! Much to my delight the same great taste has continued on with the new name. It has been dubbed "Our Favorite Sushi Place" by my wife and I, and we continue to recommend it to friends and take people there when we have the chance. As I said in the first line, the restaurant space is small, so when they get busy it can be a little crowded, but the tables are well spaced so you don't feel crammed together with a bunch of strangers. They are happy to accommodate larger groups when possible, but understand you may have to wait for the table space to become available or split up to multiple tables. They even have a section of traditional tatami mat seating if you'r feeling adventurous. Don't worry if you're party is mixed on opinion of this because they have it on a raised platform (with a "cheater hole" as we call it) so if necessary you can still sit American style with your legs under the table. I've really only eaten their sushi there so I cannot comment specifically on other menu items. However when it come to the sushi, they know what their doing! They have delicious original creation sushi rolls, our absolute favorite's being the "Love roll" and "Snow White roll" Also they have a great selection of sake and Japanese beer, including my favorite (which I have not seen at other sushi places I frequent) called "Orion". One unique fact about this beer is that it comes from the small island of Okinawa.

I love Nanami! My favorite place for sushi in Baltimore, and my default choice for food in Fells Point. The ambiance isn't exactly luxe, but it's cute, colorful, and cheerful, perfect for a casual date or get together. I like sitting by the window in the recessed seating area, where I can take off my shoes and look out at the water. :) The fish is always fresh and tasty, the prices are very good, and the service is efficient. You can't go wrong with anything on the sushi and sashimi menu. Since the fish is so good, I like simple options with salmon, tuna, or yellowtail, but I almost always tack a "Sunshine Roll" onto my order, because it practically tastes like dessert! Nanami has mildly messed up my take-out orders a couple times, but if they forget a roll they're always good with replacing it next time.

The location is great, of course, when it's sunny and you can catch one of the outdoor tables. The sushi itself was quite standard, but certainly better than Ra in East Harbor for instance. Quick and friendly service.

To celebrate our anniversary, my wife and I decided we'd have a weekend of dining out. Nanami was a somewhat random choice for the first night. We both love sushi, but have been kind of disappointed by the lack of really solid options in Baltimore. Nanami however, impressed me. Service was great, the presentation was pretty amazing, and we had a view of folks in costume hopping on and off of the booze cruise on Halloween weekend.

Nanami is a pretty unassuming sushi joint, but I was pleasantly surprised. It's a quaint little spot right on the water in Fells Point. Ambiance was pretty nice, chill but definitely had the stylings of a typical sushi place. I'm sure the view over the water would be great on a nice sunny day. We started with some edamame ($4.50) because I wanted some low fat brotein. It was good, but soybeans are pretty hard to mess up. We shared 4 rolls between the three of us. I would have been happy with one more roll, but that's probably because I'm gross and eat too much. First roll we got was the Lee Roll ($8.50). It contained yellow tail, avocado, tempura flakes, and wasabi mayo. It was pretty good, but I wasn't a fan of the wasabi mayo. Too creamy for my tastes. The Honeymoon Roll ($10) was tasty. It had spicy tuna, smoked salmon, crab meat, tempura flakes, and some garlic sauce. I liked this one more, but I'm not sure the different meats paired together super well. The Onion Roll ($7) was really good. It had tuna, cucumber, fried onion, and a touch of sriracha on top. Great clean taste, slight spice. And who doesn't like fried onions? My favorite was the Oscar Roll ($10). It had tuna, salmon, whitefish, spicy mayo, and avocado. Best of all, the entire roll was fried. Super crispy and scrumptious. Service was very quick and attentive enough. I thought prices were good, especially for some the of specialty rolls like the Oscar. Next time someone wants sushi, I'm gonna recommend Nanami.

Holy crap, I can't believe I only just tried this place!! Came with some friends, one of whom had a Living Social deal. Prices were already reasonable, so I would totally go back without one. Anyway, all the food was super fresh and tasty. I can't remember exactly what we ordered but it was delicious. We did share an entire red mullet sashimi that was only like $12 and it was pretty good. They also had live sashimi on the menu but that sh** creeps me out. Anyway, the location is perfect for a romantic sunset dinner, right on the water! Will definitely come back now that I have found my go-to sushi spot in Fells Point.

Tucked away on a pier sits this quite traditional sushi bar. I went with a friend and him and I were the only two people dining at 5pm on a Thursday. We were sat instantly, on a table which was some what small. Affter a look around most seating areas were similar. There's even a area up top which looks like a traditional japanese siting area, shoes off and on the floor. We didnt wait too long for our sushi, fresh rolls and a lot of them. The spicy tuna was fresh, I feel as if I can use this as a way to grade their meals. The tuna was whole and not minced and the sauce was limited making the roll perfected, this was also paired with fresh celery. All in all the meal was fine, the price was okay but the silence of the place , made us question their food as we didn't see anyone the whole meal.

After a few times of coming here, I've decided that: Nanami has the best sushi I have ever had in my life. Get the The Oscar, The Love Roll and The Dragon Roll. BEAUTIFUL. The place is a bit quirky, a little cold (currently), and not exactly the most inviting, but no worries. That has no play in the amazing fresh quality of the sushi they make here. I will be a returning customer many times over and I will spread the word. Delicious!!!

Planning a light dinner in Fells Point on a recent somewhat warm Sunday, two of us chose to go for sushi at Nanami, my first time having sushi in this particular section of our fair city. Located in a row of converted low-rise warehouses off the pier on the edge of the main Fells area (facing the sadly neglected Baltimore Pier), the owners of the place did their best to convert what is essentially a somewhat triangular space into a well-decorated modern-ish Japanese sushi establishment. This is helped by the large-paned sectioned windows and an elevated section of three table in front of the windows that operate on the traditional japanese line of "shoes off, cross your legs if you fell like it, nothing to lean against". While the thought of taking one's shoes off in downtown Baltimore may seem odd (and somewhat dangerous), it does add a bit of authenticity and makes for a nice experience. I would not recommend the booths for people with back ailments (despite Japanese claims that not leaning back is actually good for your back), but the low-seeming tables make for another nice touch. Now for the important things. The food and drink were excellent. The sushi was fresh, with a combination of variations on the simple (salmon roll with avocado), and the local (crab roll with old bay on top). All were very fresh, well rolled, and nicely presented without too much fuss. The list of libations was similarly nice, comprising everything from a moderate wine list to Okinawan beers (very good, large bottle). Service was very pleasant, quick, and not overwhelming. We did have one slight bit of a language barrier issue at the end, resulting in our failure to order dessert. Then again, this being a somewhat warm day, refraining may not have been the worst idea... Overall a very good spot to grab sushi, offering good service, great food, and a very nice view of the industrial outskirts of Baltimore's inner harbor.

I came in here with a LivingSocial deal and I'm glad I did. The place was cute - right along the water in Fells Point (and walking distance for me, which is always a plus) and when yo walk in the benches along the window are the kind you climb into and sit on cushions - those were all taken though so we sat at a regular table. The service was okay - prompt but not especially helpful when asked questions about the menu. The food was good, especially the specialty rolls, but I can't say it was anything above and beyond other local sushi places. If I had another deal, I'd probably come back, but otherwise I'll just stick with the BYOB place down the street which is cheaper and in my opinion, just as good.

Yet another Baltimore sushi disappointment. See what developing sushi taste in California will do to ones palate. I was feeling blech one night and thought some sushi would perk me up. Well after here my blech became a dammit! Suffice to say I received poor service on all fronts and found it overpriced for proportion on almost all items. The lone highlight was the unagi, except the itame didn't even sauce it himself, he had the hostess/waitress/cashier put the sauce on and serve it to me. WTF!!! I was sitting right in front of him!!! If you are looking for CA quality sushi keep looking elsewhere in Baltimore (and let me know where when you do)

My wife and I tried this placed tonight and really enjoyed it. It's a quiet little spot on the water in Fell's Point, and we enjoyed sitting in the corner, enjoying all of the fun food we tried. My wife had the avocado salad and I started with the miso soup. The miso was as good as any I've had and her salad was a deliciously creamy avocado with some sort of peanut sauce. We would have licked the place if no one else had been around. Then the fun really started. We had an Amy roll, the Chesapeake #1, the Oscar roll and a flaming Dragon. All of them were fresh, full of flavor and well worth the price. The Flaming Dragon was a personal favorite as they bring it to your table and finish "cooking" it over a flame before opening the foil and revealing the most amazing sauce taste buds were ever blessed to experience. What they don't tell you is that there is crack in the sauce. Seriously. I already need more...

Great. Small. Intimate. Cozy. I really enjoyed this place. My bf and I are lovers of sushi and like to try new places out. Went here for a date-night and we were not disappointed. I love how the tables near the window were very low to the ground (they even suggest you take your shoes off!! ---I DID) Only bad thing was since we're in the thick of winter, it could have been a few degrees warmer inside. We got several rolls, Chesapeake Roll #2...delcious...Alaskan Roll...pretty good...Spicy Tuna...Yum and the Dragon Roll...incredible. I liked how they put a little spin on the traditional rolls such as adding another ingredient. Delicious! Will return!

Eat there on a Sunday night. The sushi wasn't supermarket quality. The some of rolls were loose and fell apart. The ingredients were basic. I'm not a sushi snob, in fact I'm not a big fan. I go because my wife and daughter love it. They were even less impressed. With all the other restaurants in Fell's Point not sure why you'd pick this one. I'm sure there is better sushi in Baltimore.

I went here yesterday for dinner with my sister and a friend. We got there a little after 5:00 and there was a sign on the door saying they were closed. We stood outside looking confused and hungry for a couple minutes and a woman came out and opened the door and apologized saying she forgot to change the sign! We sat in one of the booths where you take off your shoes and sit on pillows, which I really liked. I'm a vegetarian, and I think my favorite thing about this place is that they have 11 different veggie rolls!!!! I got the Avocado and Shitake Roll and the Cucumber and Oshinko roll. I liked them both, but the Avocado and Shitake Roll was definitely my favorite. My sister had just eaten a hot dog at Stuggy's a little earlier so she just got an avocado roll, which I think she enjoyed. It's hard to mess that up. My friend got Miso Soup, which looked good. And a Salmon and Avocado Salad. It looked pretty, and he said it tasted great. I got iced green tea and our waitress asked if I wanted it sweetened. I said yes, but only like half as sweet as she would normally make it. It was SUPER sweet. It was fine, but it wasn't exactly what I was expecting.

Why do I have to HUNT for something without tempura, cream cheese, mayo or smoked salmon? I just don't get it. If I want that crap, I will go to einstein bagels. I think that maybe 4 of the 20 items didn't have one or many of those. And I find it extremely frustrating. I wanted some fresh yummy food and I felt like I had to work for it here and we ended up having to get one of the tempura rolls just to get a well rounded meal. The miso was pretty good, but not great. Our rolls were pretty good, not great (except one, I'll get to it). The tuna sashimi was good portion but felt not fresh with what was going on around it.... What I thought was odd was that all the avocado in our food - covering the rolls and in one of the rolls - was obviously cut from an avo that had been out for awhile, so it was half green and half black/brown. Aesthetically ugly and also very unappetizing. Is it really so much to give that extra little attention to detail and not serve something that's half brown. It's still edible, but it only added to the vibe of not feeling fresh (tempura...brown avocado... for sushi, it felt like a lot of brown and white). The one roll that got these three stars are for the salmon wrapped in cucumber roll with avocado (browned) with wasabi mayo (mayo!). It was the nicest thing on the menu and the mayo only felt like it was there for those that need the extra fat. I sound awful in this review and I feel bad. I'm going to give it another shot in the future and will update if I change my mind, but I'm so disappointed because I have yet to find fresh, not-fried sushi in the area. If you have any advice, please message me and share.

Best, freshest sushi in Baltimore. Great view, great location. The specials are always something intriguing - tuna cheeks, seared yellowtail, you name it. If they have it, try the raw scallop in shell. Finally, a sushi place where the focus is on fresh fresh fish.

I love this place! Take your out of town guests here and stroll around Fells Point before or after dinner. If you're with a group of 4-6, you can sit at their Japanese-style low tables by their windows. The service is efficient and friendly. The sushi is pretty tasty. It's tied with Matsuri as my favorite sushi restaurant in Baltimore.

So the consensus I got on yelp before heading in turned out to be dead on. The fish was incredibly fresh, the melt in your mouth kind of fresh, even if the creativity on the rolls was a little sub-par. We were seated instantly at 7 pm on a saturday but the place did get a good crowd as we sat there. We ordered a few rolls (Amy, spicy tuna, and one of the daily specials). All were perfectly prepared and arrived without delay. Overall a solid place. Not too expensive (I think their specialty rolls ran around $8-10 while traditional rolls/sashimi were around $4), fresh fish, and a nice location right across the street from the pirate cruise dock in Fells Pt. Will return soon.

Cute little place tucked away facing the harbor. I had to try one of their "live" specials, and decided to go with the live sea urchin which sure was something to look at, although THAT much sea urchin is not necessarily my cup of tea. Also, if you get the sweet shrimp, get the one with the head for $3 more, because the crispy fried head was so bomb and totally worth it!! The love roll was truly superb, but their mark roll was super bleh, felt like something you could find at any dingy sushi place. All in all, a nice quite place with friendly service, and everything served fairly quickly and pretty fresh.

I have lived in Boston and frequented NYC and DC and always griped that a big thing Baltimore lacks in comparison to these 3 cities is great Asian food. It seems like Baltimore is proving me wrong and I am so glad! My Girlfriend took me to Nanami swearing it was the best sushi she has ever had, I knew it would be good but was skeptical of such a bold claim. She was right! The sushi here is so tasty and is the best I have ever had. I was not a huge fan of the environment, it was a little cold inside and the seating area is bright and poorly decorated but since this is honestly my favorite tasting sushi I have had it receives 5 stars. We had: The Oscar Dragon Roll and Love Roll The Fish and ingredients were all fresh and flavorful and the assembly and cooking skills matched.

Ordered the cheesecake tempura. The oil it was fried in subtracted from the cheesy taste which was too bad because the fried breading helped reduce the sweetness to a good level. Fun authentic seating but limited view so minus one for that. Also -1 for serving unnecessarily small miso soups.

I love Nanami and it is my new "go to" Sushi joint especially for the lunch specials. Not only do I think the sushi is better tasting than equally priced sushi bars but the rolls are 8 pieces instead of 6 and there is a great selection. Yes, there is better quality sushi available but definitely not for the price. 3.5 stars.

This place was amazing. You can not beat the location and the atmosphere. Their rolls are very unique and they find a way to work different ingredients together into an awesome taste experience. The Chesapeake 2 roll is out of this world. It is like a spider roll on steroids sprinkled with Baltimore Old Bay love and Garlic Sauce. Try as many different rolls as you can and dont be afraid to veer away from the norm.

Poured over yelp reviews trying to find the best sushi in bmore, went with nanami and I'm certain that we found the best! Sushi is put of this world, waterfront location is beautiful, and the prices were great!!! Winter is Coming roll was beyond words, as was honeymoon and Oscar!!!!

Came here at the end of February for my boyfriends birthday. The setting is on a side alley in Fells Point, and it couldn't be prettier on a nice night. You can choose to sit at a regular table or at short tables on cushions by the windows. It's not fancy but it's cute. According to their website they're open till 10 on weekdays and 11 on weekends. We arrived at 8:45 and were treated to less than welcoming stares. They asked us twice, "You want to sit and eat?". We had no idea why this was unusual until the waitress came to take our drink orders. Then she informed us that the kitchen would close in 15 minutes and the restaurant was closing at 9:30. So the "closing" time is actually 9:30, but by that they mean the time they literally turn out the lights and walk out the door. We had even CALLED ahead and when asking questions made it clear we were coming in for a late dinner at around 9pm, and they said nothing about the kitchen closing then. Having worked in food service, we would have never picked a time so close to closing if we'd known. They made us order as soon as they handed us menus and told us if we wanted drinks we could have the ONE we ordered right then, so it was not a comfortable experience. That being said, it was good sushi. We had three of the chefs specialties. They tasted fresh and were filling, but they were pricey for what they were. Again, it was very uncomfortable trying to finish our meal in somewhat peace while some of the staff stood behind the sushi bar with their coats on!!! All in all I would only go back if my boyfriend wanted to and if HE was paying for it, but I wouldn't trust the closing times listed and I wouldn't order anything special.

Good sushi and good service. Fish was fresh and came quickly. The restaurant is small, around 15 tables, and vet casual. We ordered a bowl of noodles that was very flavorful, and a handful of rolls. Everything was great, and the bill was $60 for a group of four without drinks. For the excellent location on the water in Fells, the experience was great. I've deducted a star because there is a key you have to get to use the restroom. Similar to country gas stations. Strange, but didn't detract from a great meal.

Mediocre Japanese restaurant - although it's located in my favorite spot in Baltimore. While this is not upscale, I really don't like being served on melamine dishes. The stools were cool and looked like they were made of cypress. Quality is comparable to Asahi on Broadway, but not as good as Chiyo in Mt. Washington.

I used to come here quite frequently years ago. It used to have another name, then changed ownership. The initial change was a disappointing experience in the quality of food. I haven't been in that neighborhood in a while, and a few years have passed so I decided to give it a go! I made the right decision. I had the basics, a tuna roll and a cucumber roll. I also added a cooked roll (I believe it was called the Oscar roll?) ... Yum. It was an overall delicious experience! Totally going back.

Nice dry nice sushi restaurant in heart of Fells Point. Had many here several years ago when it was owned by different people or at least had a different name. Had not returned until recently when they were on living social. We got a few certificates as we heard their sushi was good. Now that we have been 4 times in last few months, I agree 100%. Sushi is very fresh and good. I didn't see kmuch variation in their rolls over last few months but that's fine by me. Once I find what I like then will usually stick with it. Like e crunchy roll, honeymoon roll, spicy tune. Definitely check this place out but call ahead to see how busy they are. If you need to wait, the waiting area is very small. After you eat your sushi then walk out to our right 10 feet and go to Bonaparte for dessert.

Only sushi restaurant in the area with outdoor seating (the fact it's on the bay is an added bonus). The inside of the restaurant is a bit run down, but they have the floor seating, so that is a plus. The fish quality is okay. It's reasonable priced. The rolls are so so, so i'd stick with the sashimi. If your looking for a relaxing lunch outside, this is your place.

This was my first time at this location but my friend had been here before. The location on the water is great, and there is unique window seating inside. Our waitress replied to a question I had about sampler vs. sashimi combo with an 'isn't it obvious'-type respone which I didn't appreciate. My friend ordered the vegetable tempura which was came out quickly and was fantastic, and I had the sushi sampler which was also great. We placed our sushi order before the appetizers came out; there were only four total people in the restaurant at the time yet it took 40 minutes to get our food (to make matters worse, my friend is a vegetarian so he order didn't even contain raw or cooked meat). We even told our waitress we needed to leave shortly to catch the Urban Pirates ship (I recommend that btw). When the food came out, it tasted good, but I found a large shard of shell or plastic in my spicy conch..the waitress didn't know what it was, apologized, showed the chefs and they shrugged without reaction. She did offer to make a new batch to go, which I accepted because we had already paid our tab, but it sat out for over an hour during our ship adventure so it was as good as soggy sushi could be. Based on this experience I probably would not return.

Nanami is a quaint sushi place slightly off the touristy path of fells point. When I first moved to this neighborhood I was so excited about all the different food options and ofcourse, sushi. Sushi is my favorite food and one of the few things that I'm pretty picky about. I had tried Asahi and Sticky rice, which were good but not really hitting it for me, then on a walk my boyfriend and I stumbled upon Nanami and made the decision to try it out. Best decision ever. The service is great, the atmosphere is chill and the quality of product is amazing. We go there every friday night now and I intend to continue this tradition. Every time we get something different, I would suggest the cafe miso. Its there house miso with added white fish, scallop, and shrimp. Also about every roll available and the sashimi sampler. I love this place so much. The people who work here are genuine and take such pride in their business which is huge for me. The only downside I would say is sometimes the drunk assholes from the pirate ship come in asking to use the bathroom and are rowdy which kinda ruins the ambiance, but that's not their fault. Great place you won't be disappointed.

Despite the motor-esque name - this place is one of the most impressive sushi restaurants in Baltimore. Okay, it's more like the only decent sushi place in Baltimore. Plus, they have the nifty sunken tables - and you get to take your shoes off, which makes me nostalgic for the homeland...and footsy! The sushi tastes pretty much like regular old sushi you'd get at any decent place in DC. Its charm factor mostly stems from the beautiful food presentation/decor/view than anything else, making it a very solid date dig.

I'd never been to Nanami under its old name, Kawasaki, but I have to say, I'm pleased with the change. Under Kawasaki, I could see myself focusing motorcycles and less on how this place hits all the right buttons for me. The sushi is fine; I'm not an expert on sushi preparation, and I am usually pretty conservative with ordering. I got a Philadelphia roll and a vegetarian roll, and both of them were acceptable. I guess it's kind of hard to fuck them up, so I'm glad they didn't. But, I also got a cup of miso soup that was insanely good. I would go back just to have the soup! The ambiance at this place is pretty stellar, too. We sat in the little booths, where you have to take your shoes off and tuck your feet under. There's a huge window, and we had a nice view of Thames St., and the "Homicide" police station (sidebar: THAT is my mom's favorite part about visiting. Not seeing her son; seeing the "Homicide" station.) It's an intimate joint, but not so small that it feels like the proprietors are constantly in your face. The servers are courteous, and, while it's not exactly a fast meal, it's nicely paced. You're never waiting for long stretches. I will be back, for sure. Maybe I'll grow a pair when it comes to ordering, but even if I don't, I'll still enjoy myself.

I first got my sushi kick living in San Francisco and this is the top place I've tried in Baltimore so far. Plus, in the summer, it's fun to sit outside and watch tipsy folks getting on/off the Urban Pirates booze cruise. Flaming dragon. Just do yourself the favor and order that scrumptious delight.

The sushi was nothing to write home about. It wasn't horrible, but wasn't memorable either. The sashimi wasn't the best texture and the assembly of the sushi was a bit messy and uninspired (can you tell I'm picky?). Nonetheless, the service was quick and to the point. They had this awesome Japanese soda with the bubble popping cap, which made that the most exciting part of the meal. I just wish the food had more life.

Simple. Quiet. Not too pricy. The view is great on the water of Fells Point and the service is very friendly. All in all an average sushi restaurant with a prime location. I had the combination box for lunch with a dragon roll as a shared appetizer between a friend and I. Two combo boxes, the roll and two cokes came to about thirty bucks. If I you have a craving for sushi in Fell's Point, this is a safe bet.

I'm so glad the owners of Nanami cafe did a livingsocial promotion on this place, otherwise i probably would have never stumbled across this restaurant. I do have to say offhand that i'm a SIMPLE sushi person. give me good quality fish and some rice and i'm good... do a fancy roll with 10 ingredients and drench it in 3 different types of sauce to make it look fancy or pretty (apparently that's what itamae/sushi chefs need to make to cater to american palettes)and i'll just shake my head in disappointment . needless to say, i got the chirashi bowl and it did not disappoint. the quality of the fish was good, taste (mainly the rice) was good but a tad too sweet, knife cuts on the fish were decent... had 2-3 odd shaped pieces of sashimi, but overall i would definitely come here again! service was standard for an asian restaurant (no servers stopping by every 3 minutes asking how your meal is going), price was decent for the cuisine and location (although one can always wish prices were lower so you can get more fish for your buck!) *note to owners: put more pieces of tempura in your appetizer portion and please take out the carrot strip tempura! -side note to the note: the tempura dipping sauce was delicious. i loved the touch of ginger(?) in it.

Wow, I have had some really terrible dining experiences lately, and Nanami kept the streak alive. I went here on Yelps advice, and was HUGELY disappointed. I wonder if people have really had good sushi that have reviewed this place. I wondered in on a Friday for lunch, I know not the prime time for sushi if you don't know there ordering schedule... To my luck I now know they get a delivery on Friday at about 2, because I watched the truck from Sysco back up and deliver frozen ingredients, including fish. I had already decided the fish to taste frozen and well off, and didn't finish my meal, even spitting out some yellow tail into my napkin before the truck came with the delivery. On a high note, the miso was very tasty, but i'm not quite sure how to F that up. The salad had brown lettuce and the rolls were just blah. I'm sure to not come back here again with all the other quality sushi joints between b-more and towson. peace

Great location at Fells Point. They have a varied selection of cooked options, which make it a wonderful introduction for folks who are squeamish about sushi. Best sushi in DC-Baltimore area.

I was satisfied with my experience. We used a groupon for a dinner deal. The food tasted good. We had the sashimi-rice bowl(?), a sashimi sampler, a mark roll, miso soup and the banana tempura. I was not blown away but three stars seem less, so awarding 4. Restaurant is small and brightly lit and the service fast and friendly.

This compact cafe defies the general rule that restaurants with a scenic view don't have much to offer in the way of appetizing meals. This spot is at the end of the Ann Street Dock in Fells Point, so if you snag a table by the window, as my dining partner and I did--or better yet, out on the patio--you'll have a nice view of sailboats coming in and out of the harbor. Very affordable, especially at lunch. Kirin on draft, and maybe I've led a sheltered life, but I have *never* encountered Kirin on draft anywhere in DC. Broad selection of maki (think: string bean tempura), including some local-themed rolls featuring that ubiquitous Baltimore spice, Old Bay (I stuck to the classics this time). Presentation is impeccable, with carrots carved into flowers and the like. Next time I go, I want to share the ginormous sushi boat with my dining companion, if only because it's so playful and appropriate for the waterside setting.

Found this place on Yelp during a visit to Baltimore. The people were friendly and the sushi was as good as any place I've been to. The only down side was that the service was slow and mediocre at best. Not bad enough to keep me away if in Baltimore again though.

Liked this place a lot! Got the yummy miso soup, white tuna and yellowtail nigiri, fried onion roll (the surprise hit of the night!), spider roll, rainbow roll, and spicy tuna roll. Just about $50 including tip - not too bad! We'll be back, definitely.

I love this place. The staff is very friendly and I've never had anything bad here. Their salmon sashimi is always very fresh. I love the asparagus & squash roll. We had the Honeymoon Roll this weekend with smoked salmon and crab. Very, very tasty. Also had the live scallops and enjoyed that. Extremely fresh and clean. The only drawback is the pirate ship parked out front. I think Fells needs to send that ship packing to the Inner Harbor where it belongs.

One of my favorite sushi places in the city. Usually just let the chef bring me whatever he wants and have tasted all kinds of delicious things I wouldn't have known to order. The sushi-sashimi sampler combo plate at lunch is a steal at a fraction of the price it is at dinner time. The waiters are always nice too.

The best sashimi in Baltimore! I am a sashimi girl, so I usually just order sashimi. My friend and I visited Nanami Cafe on Saturday for lunch. The food was absolutely amazing as always. My friend has allergic reactions to non-so-fresh fishes. Since I observed the problems of her before when we had dinner at a sushi place in Virgina (I could taste the fish in the VA sushi place was not as fresh as it supposed to be, my friend had the reactions after 10 minutes of consuming the "fishes") , I was hoping Nanami Cafe won't have the same issue. The sashimi was amazing. We ordered Sea Urchin, Live Scallop, Fatty Salmon, Tuna Toro, Mackerel, Squid, Octopus...etc all sashimi. the LIVE SCALLOP was so sweet and delicious. Nothing was disappointing at all! My friend. who has allergic reactions, didn't even have any allergic reactions at all. After finishing our first round of sashimi, she asked to order more. She even compares Nanami Cafe's sashimi to the sashimi that she had in Osaka, Japan. Staff there is very friendly. They are attentive but no too much. My friend wants to visit there again before she moves back t Asia for good. Loving the grade "A" fishes there!

We go here on a weekly basis. Delicious, fresh, creative food, with a wonderful low-key atmosphere. A perfect neighborhood sushi spot.

The view is amazing on the water and the sushi is a a good bargain. They have a good mix of classic sushi and local-themed varieties. They also have fun Japanese sodas with the glass ball tops.

Great for a not so expensive Sushi place. It is a very small place but we have never had to wait. Sushi and other dishes are very good and fresh. Service is friendly and quick. Miso is very good here

The food is good! The place is cute! It's right on the water in fells point! What more can you ask for? This place is a block away from all of the madness that exists in fells point. All you have to do is mosey on over a little.... Get the window seat! It's japanese style :)
(3)Katie D.

(5)Misty C.

(5)Amanda H.

What this place lacks in ambiance and service, it makes up for in the quality of their raw fish and chef aesthetics. The experience: 1) The sushi is fresh, delicious, and full of flavor. I can't say for sure, but their sushi reminds me of the sushi I had in Japan aka the fish is/was never frozen. 2) They have tatami mats! The one where you sit with your shoes off, which I think is an enjoyable and refreshing way to dine, especially if you've never tried it. 3) The sushi chef does a great job with making the sushi look aesthetically appealing. Don't get me wrong, it's nothing ridiculously fancy, but it reminds me of French cuisine, where presentation is not gaudy, but subtle and pleasant. Each piece of a roll looked like it was cut with very delicate precision, and each piece of sashimi was definitely laid out with consideration. Lack of Ambience: My first impression was fairly lackluster. The place does not look unkept, but it could use some remodeling. There are a couple of "signature" Japanese decorations, but otherwise the place looks kind of like my room -- none of the interior décor really "speak" to each other as if everything was bought on an impulse *ahem* (haha, oh well, not like I'm trying to impress anyone here!). There are 3 tatami tables with four seats each -- definitely not an option for large groups. Service: The drinks and food arrived in a timely manner, but the waitress was definitely not in it for the tips. Imagine yourself going to work; you did your job quickly and efficiently, what more can your boss ask for? Well, this is exactly how I felt the service was here. Not amazing, no one smiled, but it was definitely efficient. So, don't come here expecting the kind of service where they anticipate your needs. It was one waitress for the entire place, so yes, at times you will have to flag the waitress down yourself. But once you do, she'll get you what you need no problem! Overall: If you come here, you'll definitely enjoy the sushi! I ordered Chirashi so I could try a variety of their sashimi. I tried the octopus first and it was an eye-opening experience. It was the most tender, melt-in-your-mouth octopus I have ever had (according to yelper Pete F. they must have massaged the octopus a lot!). The rest of the sashimi was equally heavenly! The only item I didn't like was the tamago (Japanese omelette) which was slightly dry. Price/portion-wise, it's not cheap, but the quality of the fish is absolutely amazing. I have Emma W. to thank for taking me here and I will definitely be back!

I love this place. Always has fresh sea urchin and scallop. Marbled is my fav. Also they black snapper is a nice new thing to try too. Servers here are friendly. It s a nice place to have ur happy hour after work.
(5)Ipek S.
Not the freshest food that I've had, the fried onion sushi was my favourite so far. Miso soup was good, the chicken teriyaki wasn't fresh according to my husband. We had the ume sake which was great.
(3)Sarah G.

Delicious sushi, got the Chesapeake roll #1, Oscar roll, honeymoon, and mark roll. Best sushi I found since moving from San Diego.

Good price, delicious, and great atmosphere. If i'm to eat sushi in Baltimore, ill go either azumi or here.

(3)Schuyler H.
best sushi in baltimore, hands down - best fresh fish and the lee roll is epic! servers and sushi chefs are always friendly!
(5)Steve Y.
(1)Michelle W.
(2)Emily F.
sushi is good and theres usually not a long wait. some of the special rolls seem a little pricey but overall a great place
(4)Brian C.
This should be 4.5 stars. The sushi was ok. Not great, but not bad. The atmosphere was perfect. the service was good. I'd definitely return.
(4)Jen P.
Love their sashimi! Also, it's the perfect little outdoor area with a view of the water. The reasonable prices are a plus!
(5)Mitch S.
(3)Rose H.
This place will not disappoint. Phenomenal food service and the place is quiet and cozy. They go above and beyond to make your experience extra special. Come here you will be glad you did!
(5)Zach F.
(4)Rocky B.
(5)Alison B.
Went for my boyfriend's birthday dinner. Very authentic atmosphere, delicious sushi. We had a soft shell crab roll with old bay and it was incredible. All other rolls were great as well. I will be returning.
(5)Bruno F.
This place has great sushi at a great price. We had a "flaming" sushi roll which was pretty cool since they actually bring it out on fire. They also carry ramune drinks which is great! Food was very tasty and service was spot-on.
(5)Danielle K.
I would not recommend this place :(
(2)Robin S.
(4)Mady J.
(4)James Y.
(4)Christina H.
(4)Nisht G.
(3)Kris L.
(5)Samantha L.
This place is amazing. We got the avocado salad, three roles, and tempura banana for the dessert. Everything was fresh and amazing. We eat sushi all the time and this is by far the best. We didn't know what we were missing! It was a Saturday night and service was still excellent. Two thumbs up!
(5)Eileen H.
One of my favorite sushi places in baltimore - and a location to die for (always try to sit by the windows or outside). However, the ambiance indoors is lacking, so if you're super into aesthetics, this isn't the right place to be. Tip: be on the lookout for Living Social deals that they run in the colder months!
(5)Jenny K.
(4)Shirley S.
I am not writing about the food but about the waitress here. She is absolutely very impolite and she always seems very very unhappy with customers. The other waiters here are all very nice and polite. Although we don't have many options for Sushi in Baltimore, Nanami needs to be aware of this and train staff more carefully :(
(1)Taylor V. S.
(3)Beth W.
(3)Michael C.
Great location but not the best service, especially when they are busy. When they are busy they are plain rude. Slightly overpriced since on the harbor. Their unadon is only so-so. Maybe forego for some Fells Point classic bar food.

I love everything about this place. Location is by the water, food portions are good and sushi rolls are darn good!
(5)Hanan K.
Amazing Japanese restaurant! The sushi is amazing.. Try the fried rolls, really good..
(5)Missy G.
Not much of a sushi girl but they have quite a few options for someone like me. Service is always friendly and attentive. Love the yakisoba and the dumplings. Pricing is good considering you are right on the water.
(4)Kristina L.
I love this place. It's my favorite sushi place in the city. The service is always good, the sushi is amazing, and my belly is always full and happy when I leave. In the summer, sit outside by the water - it doesn't get better :)
(5)Chryssandra B.
(4)Stacy L.

(4)Molly D.

(4)Robert L.
(5)Peggy K.
(4)Tom N.

(4)Elyse D.
I love this sushi cafe! Their food is delicious, fresh, and beautiful. We always try to order one of their special rolls when we go, and they are always delicious. Prices are reasonable as well.
(5)Mark S.

(5)Ivar D.
The location is great, of course, when it's sunny and you can catch one of the outdoor tables. The sushi itself was quite standard, but certainly better than Ra in East Harbor for instance. Quick and friendly service.
(3)Sean G.
(4)Robby B.
(4)Sarah M.
i love you, nanami.

(4)Julia B.
Great sushi, great lunch specials. Friendly and polite staff. Not very upscale, but a great restaurant-one of our favorite sushi places in B'more.
(4)Garrett K.
If you are looking for CA quality sushi keep looking elsewhere in Baltimore (and let me know where when you do)
(2)Marcus M.
(4)Morgan D.
Great. Small. Intimate.
(4)Bill D.
(2)Corinne D.

They have the best salmon nigiri in Baltimore, the best of the best! Love it so much! Yum~
(5)Nicole B.
Best, freshest sushi in Baltimore. Great view, great location. The specials are always something intriguing - tuna cheeks, seared yellowtail, you name it. If they have it, try the raw scallop in shell. Finally, a sushi place where the focus is on fresh fresh fish.
(5)Lieutenant W.
Right on the water, great selection of rolls and the price is not bad either. Easily a 10.
(5)Chosei K.
(5)Kelly B.
(3)Lucy X.
(3)Brian A.
(5)brian g.
Ordered the cheesecake tempura. The oil it was fried in subtracted from the cheesy taste which was too bad because the fried breading helped reduce the sweetness to a good level. Fun authentic seating but limited view so minus one for that. Also -1 for serving unnecessarily small miso soups.
(3)Ross M.
The sushi restaurants in Fells Point, from best to worst: 1. Nanami 2. Sticky Rice 3. Asahi 4. RA
(5)EdWord E.
3.5 stars.
(4)RM H.
Cute, quaint Japanese cafe situated right on the water in Fells Point. Grab an outdoor table and enjoy the view.
(4)Eric H.
Atmosphere and food were excellent. Loved the seating near the windows. Highly recommend love roll an pork Katsu
(5)Zachary W.
(5)Rebecca S.

(2)Daryl P.
(4)Zachary S.
Great service, fresh sushi, enormous proportions. Not a bad item on the item. Great atmosphere. Great for even a novice sushi eater.
(5)Dave A.
Washington.
(3)Virginia M.
I absolutely LOVE Nanami Sushi! SO GOOD. Right now you can get $40 worth of Sushi at Nanami for only $20 at living social! livingsocial.com/deals/1…
(4)Ida L.
(4)Chris G.
(4)Matthew L.

I love this place! They are always friendly and the sushi is so fresh! They are also very quick and the location is so nice by the water!

The food here is always good. We are repeat customers.

Not too fancy, but it has a great location, with outdoor tables looking out over the water .
