RIP Miguel's - It was to my utmost sadness to discover that Miguel's had closed on 6/1/2015. I had only been to this restaurant once with some friends for dinner, but I was looking forward to returning for their brunch sometime soon! Their brunch deal was bottomless mimosas and bloody mary's for $12!! When I went for dinner, I ordered some tacos which were tastefully made, and finished the meal off with some warm, decadent churros topped with coffee ice cream. I tried some of their other desserts too and they were all on point. I guess this review is pretty irrelevant now but I just wanted to give Miguels' one final hurrah. The owner, who also owns Blue Agave in Federal Hill said that he closed down Miguel's because Baltimore is not a friendly place for small businesses. Personally, I was a fan of Miguel's but it was kind of a hidden place that was difficult to find. Hopefully, Blue Agave will keep on going strong because they have a great happy hour!

This place is very good. You will get lost trying to find the entrance. Consider walking around the building a few times to be working up an appetite. My friends have been back twice since we visited. Everything we tried was delicious, and the drinks are very good too. If I go into the city for Mexican, I'll definitely be coming here.

Sadly, this is a revisionist history, my first time here was great! After our most recent trip to Miguel's it had to be documented that the food and service quality has fallen off. The location and decor is still great, as are the margaritas and beer selection. The food on the other hand was very weak. The queso was just chalky, melted cheese with oil pooled on top. The fish tacos were completely bland and the coup de grace was the the shrimp special (sorry I forgot the name, the description lists it as cheese and shrimp, flash-fried in a pan then topped). It was a funnel cake filled with cheese. There was not one shrimp inside, and when I cut it open, frier oil just poured out of the thing. Finally, the waiter only can three times - once for drinks, once for food, and once to drop the check, unsolicited - was going to get another drink but apparently he thought better of it.

3 stars* Went back and tried the baja tacos. The tilapia was too bland, really wish it was marinated in something. Unfortunately the tacos did not satisfy my fish taco craving.

Sometimes I think of Miguel's Cocina Y Cantina as one of South Baltimore's best kept secrets. The restaurant is located in Locust Point at 1200 Stuart St in a building that you wouldn't expect to find some of the tastiest Tex-Mex dishes around. The Mexican food is significantly different than that at Banditos in Fed Hill. Here it has more of a Texas inspiration and everything is executed perfectly. After a little bit of day drinking in South Baltimore all of my friends were craving margaritas, I'm not a huge fan of Blue Agave so I suggested Miguel's as a cheaper, more fun Mexican alternative. We headed over there and my friends were impressed by the decor. There are large windows surrounding the establishment and interesting paintings covering the walls. When we were seated, the waiter brought out chips and salsa. The chips were your standard chips from a Mexican restaurant but the salsas were amazing. I don't normally like salsa verde, but this one was very good. Not too thin and full of flavor. But the salsa roja is where it's at. This salsa was the perfect balance between thin and thick with a nice spicy/smoky flavor. Most of the table ordered a round of drinks and they all loved their margaritas, it struck a nice flavor balance between the tequila and flavors. One of my friends ordered the Killer Black Angus Chili which was amazing. It's 14-hour smoked brisket diced with chiles, tomato and beer. Topped with sour cream, diced onion and shredded cheese. Served with flour tortillas. Texas-style...no beans! Easily one of the best chilis I've ever tried (another top contender would be my Moms or the one at Abbey Burger Bistro). This may largely have to do with the fact that I don't like beans. Another friend ordered the Flor de Calabaza Quesadilla and loved it. She modified the entree slightly and added chicken to make it heartier. The chicken to cheese ratio was perfect and the guacamole on the side was nice and creamy. It's a standard Americanized Mexican dish that was well executed. For my meal, I decided to try the El Cheesesteak Mayor after reading a FourSquare tip about it. Seared tenderloin chinks and hand-pulled chicken topped with homemade cheese sauce, caramelized onions and then stuffed into a baguette with a side of fries. This cheesesteak was amazing. Each bite was meaty and the gooey melty cheese was everywhere without overpowering the dish. The fries were standard but a nice pair with the dish. Lastly, two of my friends shared the Enchiladas de Pollo. Hand-pulled, fresh chicken with queso cotija Smoked Gouda and Jack cheeses. Rolled in white corn tortillas and topped with Mole Negro. Served with sautéed cactus and black beans. Personally, I am not an Enchilada fan but my friends loved this dish. The dish had a nice spice to it but it worked well. It was also big enough to share. Each entree was under $13 making the food a great deal in addition to being wonderful. Because everything is so great and the decor is wonderful, I wouldn't rule this out for date night either!

The patio at Miguel's is a pleasant place. In the evenings, it's shaded by the bulk of the Silo Point building. A breeze comes off the waterfront and rustles the long grasses of the Locust Point frontage. Every once in a while, a CSX train clanks slowly by on the siding a few dozen yards away. It's a good place to have a cold beer or cocktail placed in front of you. As far as the staff: on the good side, the hostess who took my call asking if we could get an outside table on a walk-in as we were about 20 minutes away was friendly and accommodating, and had a table set for us ready to go. Our server was efficient enough, if not nearly as affable. I really liked Miguel's salsas - tangy, spicy in the right ways, not muddy or artificial. The missus ordered a grilled salmon dish with a coconut milk salsa - the fish was cooked appropriately, but was a bit pallid. I had Carnitas Juvencio, supposedly named after the guy who taught Miguel to put Coca Cola in the marinade. I wish Juvencio had also taught Miguel to use some citrus juice or salt, as the pork was overwhelmingly sweet with nothing to balance it other than some tired looking lime wedges on the side of the plate. The glass of white sangria that was ordered was also disappointing. Sorta sweet, vaguely fruity, kinda boring. I can see Miguel's as a decent place to stop for a drink and some Mexican-style munchies on a warm summer night. But for a full dinner? eh.

Have been to Miguel's a few times and never had service that I would even call "good." However, the food is excellent. this place is authentic Mexican, definitely not tex mex. Expect quality dishes, fresh ingredients and a good selection of interesting margaritas... Just don't expect it to come quickly.

Last weekend had an amazing meal: trout with Serrano bacon sauce, green beans and grits. Excellent (and I'm very picky). Just wish they served their draft beers in half pints. They have a great selection but at 110 lbs I can't drink 16 oz or more. When i asked for half pint they would not accommodate. But food is great including their salsas.

Came here for star spangled banner 200. It is without a doubt, one of baltimore's best hidden gems. It is probably one of the better Mexican restaurants around but I cannot comment on the food as we only ordered drinks. The frozen margarita samplers - mango, strawberry, house and tamarind was a good deal. $8 for a shot glass size of each flavor. The sangria cannot be compared to Tio Pepe's but it was decent enough. Will definitely come back to try the brunch here. Apparently there is free flow of mimosas for $12 during brunch.

100% blown away my Miguel's brunch. I really wasn't expecting much more than your average Mexican brunch. But instead, I found myself undecided between 5 menu items (everything looked amazing!) at reasonable prices, surrounded by great service and a gorgeous ambience. We sat on the outside deck patio in the shade, peaceful and romatic. Loved the pancakes with grilled shrimp. Wanted to go back the next day to have more of the same. The hubz had the breakfast burrito which was rich (but not extremely heavy) and flavorful...the brisket was tender ooey goodness. Will be back very very very soon :D

On recommendation from a friend, we came to Miguel's with a group of 8 on a Saturday. Firstly, it is pretty difficult to find. We wandered around the large cement building it is located in and finally found it after about 5 minutes. The decor was pretty cool inside and we were looking forward to a fun night and good meal. It took quite a while to get our first drink and our server actually forgot my friend's drink. When he finally came back 15 minutes later, she had to order it again. No apology-- he just acted like she was just ordering it for the first time. My margarita was so so, but hey, it was alcohol. After waiting 20 minutes for the server to come back to take our order, we finally put our food in. The chips they gave us at the table were all crumbled and seemed like the leftovers from the bottom of the bag. I guess if they're "free" we can't complain too much... I ordered the empanadas... Since it was under the "Mexican classics" section, I assumed it was an entree. I finished it in about 4 bites. Not filling whatsoever. My husband ordered the steak and was pretty dissatisfied as well. The "tequila" marinated steak tasted like it was just doused in tequila. I tasted it and couldn't even swallow because it was so bad. Another person in our group ordered the enchiladas and couldn't finish them because they were way too spicy. Never once during the meal were we offered another drink. Finally, the server brought our one bill. He disappeared and finally when he came back 10 minutes later we asked for him to split it. We offered to write down what each of us got for him, but he refused and said he can remember "in his mind". Ok. So then he proceeded to come back to the table 5 more times to ask what each of us got again and again... Overall, very disappointed. I love Mexican food and I love margaritas and was let down by both. The service was extremely subpar, especially when the restaurant was only about 25% full. We will not be returning.

Miguel's is a fantastic Mexican restaurant. The bartenders are great and super friendly. I have eaten here 4 times and have had an awesome meal each time and there is still items on the menu that I want to try still. Also they do a great weekend brunch with bottomless mimosas and screwdrivers. A good way to shake off a long night or get the day started. The food is really awesome and I recommend the Huevos Rancheros for sure.

The only thing that could improve this place is having Mexican beers...even a Corona would be a bonus. They also don't have gin? Very weird. BUT everything else is good! I cannot get enough of the smoky red salsa that comes with the chips when you are first seated. The shrimp corn cakes are our favorite app. The tacos are filling and tasty, but my favorite entree by far has been the Enchiladas de Pollo. Mmmmm. Very unique and rich flavors, including smoked gouda cheese and mole sauce. It's probably a 1,000 calories but whatevs. I'm a girl who likes to eat, yo. Don't let the creepy exterior scare you away. Power through your fear and get inside the front doors!

Interesting menu that doesn't really deliver. It all really sounds good, but the execution is just not there. Having lived in New Mexico for 18 years, I can say that neither their red or green chile is "New Mexican". The green is jalapeño based, the red might be based on some kind of chile pods but lacks depth and heat. The smoked brisket in the tacos is really mediocre and finished with a heavy hand of cheap beer. The salmon dish is a surprisingly decent and the house and skinny margaritas are really good. Service was sporadic. We had a large party of 10, so maybe that threw the kitchen a little? After hearing good things, a disappointing experience.

I visited Baltimore a few weekends back and I knew I needed one night with a good margarita and I got it here. Miguel's was a far drive from our Marriott in the Inner Harbor but it was nice not having to walk! Plus, it gave us an opportunity to visit another part of the city that we hadn't seen yet. The problem with this place is that we couldn't find it! We pulled up to a hotel/apartment complex and the GPS said "You're here!" and my boyfriend and I looked around completely bewildered. We kept driving through the complex and found signs that were directing us to Miguel's. We parked where we probably were not supposed to, walked into a lobby where a woman at a desk told us to go through the next doors and down the hall to our right. As we were walking down the hall, we looked at each other and asked "is this how we die?" Fortunately no! We walked in and it was such a cool little place! Great big bar and a nice ambiance in the dining area. It was a cool "day of the dead" decor. We stared out with margaritas and guacomole. I got the enchiladas de pollo while my boyfriend got something delicious and massive from the specials! i may have gotten too toasted to remember. but I do remember loving every moment of my meal.

This place is a hidden gem. They make a mean margarita and have some tasty food. The margarita was yummy, not too boozy, but it packed a decent punch. The glass was adorable with a cactus-shaped stem. The complimentary chips and salsa made for an addictive snack. I could sit around and drink margaritas and eat chips all day. We ordered some guacamole, which was chunky, but good. The guac could use a little salt, but I'm sure if we asked for some shakers, we would have gotten some. The chips with the guac were different, flour tortilla chips that were almost flaky. I ordered a burrito. It had three different types of meat with a slightly spicy sauce. The refried beans and green rice were nice side additions and the burrito was massive. I had to take some home to-go. We split a slice of tres leches cake. It was tasty, not the best, but tasty. They also have Taharka Bros ice cream and churros, so the place is downright cool. The drink menu intrigued me. I wanted to try everything! Especially the spiked horchata (horchata is amazing as is....but then you add tequila.....OMG I WANT!), but by the end of the meal I was pretty stuffed and could barely attack the dessert. The service was a wee bit slow, but the place was pretty quiet on a Monday night, so they must not have been at full force.

I've been coming to Miguel's since they opened. A fan of the owner's previous ventures, Blue Agave and Rub, Miguel's is by far the best yet. It's neuvo-Mexican with a splash of Southern US. You have great carnitas on the same menu as smoked wings and brisket, an excellent Tequila list, good mixed drinks, and easily some of the best chips and dip you'll ever eat. The only detractor is that the service can be slow. I usually build this into my plan; a night at Miguel's isn't going to be fast paced. Some people think of this as a big no-no. To me, it's just an opportunity to relax and enjoy another drink with some friends.

Everything about this place was just a little bit weird. First of all because of the location. The building itself is really ugly; what looks like a luxury condo built around grungy, industrial silos? Weird. Then the complex is a labyrinthine series of corridors winding their way through hair salons and art galleries. The signs for Miguel's were pretty self-explanatory so it wasn't hard to find but the masses of grey concrete made me feel like I was in a parking garage. Once we finally got to the restaurant we opted to eat outside on the patio. I was expecting a water view but instead the patio looks out on a field of tall grass with scenic industrial plants in the background. I guess the factory view isn't too surprising given the Locust Point location and all, it just wasn't what I was expecting from a fairly upscale restaurant. As far as food went I was decidedly underwhelmed. The chips and salsa roja were good but the salsa verde was just plain gross. I'm pretty open minded when it comes to salsa but I found this stuff to be inedible. It had a strange sort of stale flavor and despite a few tries I couldn't acquire a taste for it. I got an empanada and it was bland and uninspired. For some reason it was garnished with pumpkin seeds and what I'm assuming was jicama, despite the fact that this didn't go with the flavors of the dish at all. My friend got a quesadilla that came garnished with the same mixture so maybe it's their go-to accompaniment. Weird. Portions were unexpectedly tiny so I ate plenty of chips (which I'm not complaining about: they were definitely the highlight of the meal). The sangria was reasonably priced and fairly strong but nothing to write home about. The best part of the experience was the waiter who was attentive without being pushy. Everyone at the restaurant was friendly and welcoming so they get an extra star for that. I won't be going back.

Muy bien hecho, Miguel's. I like Miguel's because it's a little out of the way and it's not too Tex Mex-ish. The margaritas are delicious (all varieties) and the space is open and airy. Prices are reasonable for the location. Try Miguel's if you want something out of the ordinary.. you'll like it!

Not good food. The beer was good. The margarita was good. But the food was weird and the stuffed poblano was cold in the middle. Not even an apology from the wait staff. Based on their excellent web developer it looked like an awesome place, but it seemed more like a hotel bar with a bad chef.

Perfect location for a date on a nice day, their queso fundido with chorizo is the bomb . com Other than that, depending how hungry you are the el tri burrito will knock you out, and the coca cola dish will make you very intrigued as to how they prepare it! Very good all around!

This is an upcale and authentic mexican restaurant where the food is plated more creatively than at your typical mexican restaurant. I do not tend to like mexican food but Miguel's offered plenty of options that tasted great! Here's a sampling of the drinks and dishes we tried: - Pitcher of skinny margaritas - very flavorful and delicious! Did not taste like a skinny; I actually forgot it was a skinny until I was writing this review. - Flaky, thick homemade tortilla chips with salsa roja and salsa verde - The salsa roja was smokey and the salsa verde was flavorful. I did not like the flakiness of the chip and they could have used some salt. - Queso Fundido - hot fondue of hot bubbling cheddar, Chihuahua and jack cheeses with smoked gouda cream, served with warm flour tortillas - This was absolutely amazing! Highly recommended! - Sopa de Maiz y Poblano - Roasted poblano and corn soup with a slight heat. Finished with fresh coriander and a light cream base - I thought this soup was tooooo spicy! It was a huge bowl of soup and I could not imagine someone finishing something so spicy. - Miguel's Caesar - traditional Caesar salad from the original recipe in Tijuana, Mexico. Anchovy, roasted garlic, olive oil, queso cotija, egg yolk, cracked pepper and salt. Hand-rubbed, whole romaine leaves - I did not order this because I was concerned about the anchovy and egg, but my friend ordered it and I sampled it and LOVED it. The dressing was delicious!!! My other friend thought the dressing was too potent. - Carne Asada - Flash-grilled Tenderloin with Mole Amarillo. Served with corn pudding and achiote calabaza - two of my friends ordered this. One thought the meat was overcooked but the other friend thought the dish was good. - Empanada Camaron - Shrimp, jicama, pumpkinseed & Cotija cheese, Mole Verde - my friends loved this dish! - Empanada Chayote - Grilled Mexican squash, black bean, corn, grilled scallion and smoked Gouda with Salsa de Huitlacoche - I sampled this dish and thought it was disgusting! Go with the shrimp empanada instead. - Sincronizada - A traditional sándwich-type snack. Two flour tortillas, filled with smoked gouda, diced jamon and chipotle. Seared on the griddle and served with salsa asada - I asked them to substitute the ham with tomato and they forgot so I had to send it back. When it was returned, the cheese was American instead of smoked gouda and it was not melted. Do not order this dish. The sauce and salad in the middle of the dish was very good but you could get that with any of the other dishes. Overall, the food was delicious and creative! The biggest successes were the skinny margarita, queso fundido, ceasar salad and empanada Camaron. I have no idea why they do not offer a simple bean and cheese burrito, but they do have more creative options such as a meat dish cooked in Coca-Cola and they offer grilled romaine, which is difficult to find in restaruants these days. Service was a bit slow. Prices are reasonable. For six women ordering drinks, appetizers and entrees, the total bill came to approximately $180 including tip.

Miguel's is not your typical Mexican restaurant. It's tucked away in Locust Point, but it's a worthwhile find! I really love the decor and vibe. There's a "day of the dead" feel which is very cool without seeming too trendy. We've been here a few times and I've mostly left very satisfied. Key word being mostly. The salsa roja is excellent. It has a very unique smoky flavor. I've ordered the tacos de carne ahumado quite a few times and the vegetable enchiladas once. The tacos de carne ahumado are brisket tacos served with corn pudding and black beans. The corn pudding is always fantastic! It's almost like dessert, so of course it's my favorite part of the meal. Anything that satisfies my sweet tooth is a winner! The tacos are always packed with brisket, but the last time we were here the juices made the tortilla soggy. I hate a soggy tortilla, so minus one point here. While this most recent underwhelming experience has me a bit disappointed, I'd still return to Miguel's. The food is creative and (usually) flavorful and well cooked. Plus, the service never disappoints and we've never had to wait for a table!

My friend took me to Miguel's, prefacing it as the best Mexican food he's had in Baltimore, so the restaurant had a lot to live up to. When we walked in I was really impressed by the atmosphere. I absolutely love the design and ambiance of the place. Anyone with any appreciation of their high school Spanish classes will love when they recognize the skeletons representing Dia de los Muertos. When I was reviewing the menu, I was pleasantly surprised at the low prices. I ordered the Oveja taquitos, which were filled with lamb, almonds and dried cranberries. I was weary about the combination, but it was absolutely wonderful. And the best thing: it was only about $7. My friend got a burrito that was $14, but it was also the size of a brick. He definitely got at least 2 meals out of it. Additionally, my glass of water was never empty. I was thoroughly impressed by the service at Miguel's! So summed up: Great atmosphere, great food, and great service for a great price and access to a full bar. What more could you want?

ooooh- la la! I looooooove this place. It took me awhile to find authentic/ excellent Mexican food. My prayers were answered... amazing brisket tacos, enchiladas topped with mole, shrimp tacos, empanadas stuffed with awesomeness... all with a fantastic margarita menu! If you like sweeter margaritas, go for the fresa! I you're planning for a serious (strong) night, go for El Jefe! In addition to the tasty food, the atmosphere is incredibly interesting. Skulls, stars, murals, and pretty lighting. My only warning is that this place is very difficult to find if you haven't been there! It totally looks like a bougie apartment building (because you have to walk through the lobby), and voila! You're there! But, seriously... the maze like entrance is totally worth it!

The Location itself is kind of hidden, if you were to drive by, I'm sure you wouldn't have even know there was is a restaurant there! I've been there 4 times, once with a baby and the other times with adults and each time it was great. The decor and lay out of the restaurant is very cool!! always a good view of the water and Fells Point no matter where you are sitting, The food is great as well, i had the enchiladas, the only thing is i found it to be a bit spicier but i still consumed it with a smile on my face. The drinks however, are dangerous!!! So incredibly yummy, i went through 4 of the Fresa Margaritas, like water! I did regret it in the morning, but they are made just so good!! My brother in law is a Bartender and makes excellent drinks, so i feel i've become a bit snobby when i order mixed drinks that he isn't making, but this is definitely a great place to go for a margarita!! The employees are all super nice from the minute you walk in to the minute you leave, I highly recommend this place, to all who are in the location!!

My boyfriend's second birthday dinner was here at Miguel's; we had a third person, Carrie's Momma, joining us today for our venture. This restaurant is definitely in an out-of-the-way location, all the way out in Locust Point and right by the water. It is NOT easy to find; however, thanks to fellow Yelpers, I was prepared for that and planned accordingly. Armed with the magic of Google Maps and Mr. Tom-Tom, we found it with little trouble. It's definitely tucked away in the Silo Point building, though. Follow the signs. It'll get you there. We were seated outside, since it was really nice out today; I've heard good things about the decor, but honestly, we never saw much of it, as we opted for a water view. The server was quite attentive and was friendly, though not sickeningly so. I don't know if we spoke to the owner - he seemed to be in "charge", so to speak - but if it was the owner, he was very nice and took time to speak with my mother at length about the history of the place, the area, etc. I appreciated that greatly. Carrie's Momma ordered the Miguel's Caesar; I ordered the Nachos de la Frontera, and the birthday boy ordered Enchiladas de Pollo. I also decided on a glass of sangria - hey, why not, it's a celebration. Complimentary homemade tortilla chips started this meal off. DELICIOUS salsa roja! Very smoky with a light chipotle flavor. I thoroughly enjoyed that. The nachos, covered in black beans, chile sauce, cream, pico de gallo and shredded chicken, were absolutely unbelievable. I couldn't get enough, and it was more than a generous serving. Momma apparently thought so, too, as she kept eating from my plate quite a bit. "I just want one or two, Jeez!" Uh-huh. She loved her Caesar; no, more like raved about it. Claims that the dressing is the best she's had in years. I believe that, because she blazed through that salad like nobody's business. The Love of My Life got a plate of chicken enchiladas with probably the blackest mole I've ever seen. He also loved his dish! Since it was his birthday, he also ordered dessert, Pay de Queso y Nuez (some kind of Mexican cheesecake). He just proclaimed that "okay"; I think he had been expecting something else with maize in it, because he kept wondering where it was. No dessert for Momma and I; we were stuffed. Not many people here on a Wednesday afternoon; except for one or two others, we pretty much had the place to ourselves. A very quiet, very enjoyable meal. Momma definitely wants to return; the Boyfriend and I, we probably will to try some other dishes. Nicely done!

The brunch is tasty, best in Baltimore? it just might be. Friendly staff. The food used to be inconsistent ranging from excellent to so so, but the last few times I have been here it has been spot on. chicken wings are smoked and yumsies. Nachos are out of sight. I love the burrito, 3 different sauces to go with three different meats all in one ginormous tortillia. Also great are the enchiladas. The specials are always good too. Vegetarian options are available and always good. I never understand how the place doesn't fill up for brunch but I expect they will have lines for tables soon.

Miguel's is tucked away in Silo Point, so it can be difficult to find. (It's behind the front of the building, and you have to enter down a hallway- not from the outside). I definitely suggest going to Miquels early for apps and drinks. The margarita's are delicious and the nachos with guac are home-made and some of the best I've ever had. I am very sensitive to spicy food, so if you are like me, ask your waiter or waitress before ordering anything. I thought that the Tacos al Pastor looked great but they were so hot that my friend and I couldn't eat them when we went- and she can tolerate more heat than me! That's my biggest problem with Miguels- that they should either point out spicy items on the menu or offer them on the more mild side. I'd also suggest the Flor de Calabaza. It's cooked very well and all of the tastes come together perfectly.

Three out of six had the chili. It was very smokey tasting and too spicy to eat, and I like spicy. One if us was vegetarian and struggled to find a dish. The menu was sizeable but it was hard to find anything I wanted to order. The nachos were good. Location is poor and hard to locate.

Miguel's Cocina y Cantina is located in an inconspicuous place that people would go there only if someone else recommended the place or they live/work around the area (Silo Point/Locust Point). For me, it was the former, so we drove around the empty streets and eventually found Miguel's (with the help of their signs directing us). Whew...what a trek! But it was worth it! The decor of this place is inspired by Dia de Los Muertos as there were (fun-looking?) skeleton drawings around. The dining set-up is posh (neat and simple tables; high ceilings; fancy hanging lights). It wasn't too busy during a Sunday evening, but there were people there. With that said, service was fast. We got margaritas (Miguel's and Prickly Pear) and guacamole to start our meal, and they were better than average. We then split the jicama salad, carne asada empanadas, and the chilpachole veracruz (spicy seafood soup). All the dishes were great; I believe the chef when he stated that his food stays true to the Mexican cuisine. A bit on the pricey side but the portions were big! A bit far to drive to get Mexican food for me but I wouldn't oppose to going there again to try the other dishes.

An interesting find, especially if you don't live in the building! The ambiance is a little odd, but the food is solid. Delicious guac and salsa. Healthy portions. Salmon was amazing, marinated pork was also delicious. Definitely worth a stop in.

Dinner at Miguel's was one of the most disappointing meals I've had in Baltimore. Recent reviews in Chowhound and Yelp have raved over the food, so I was looking forward to seeing something new in Mexican food. I don't believe that bland and lackluster are aspirations for Mexican cuisine. I would caution that this was the middle of the week and we may have had the unfortunate luck of a back-up chef. I will be going back on a weekend to see if the food improves. Chile en Nogadas Traditional chile stuffed with ham, beef, raisins, queso Chihuahua and nuts. Served with a walnut cream sauce and garnished with Pomegranate seeds. $10 (There are limited quantities). The failure of the dish was accentuated by the description in the menu. Perhaps with a clearer warning I would have gone down a different path. "There are limited ingredients." What arrived was a poorly fried, barely fired chile (impossible to cut) filled with a single square inch of sliced ham, a tablespoon of some unidentifiable cheese, all resting in a walnut bath sprinkled with red tortilla chips because they couldn't find pomegranate seeds. If there were raisins, nuts and beef in this chili, they were invisible and tasteless. The batter was too thick and the oil wasn't hot enough. The result was a heavy, greasy undercooked pepper that was so mild as to be dismissed from the flavor profile entirely. Birria Guadalajara Chunks of braised lamb in a rich chile sauce, featuring Ancho, Pasilla and Cascabel chiles. Topped with queso fresco, served with warm flour tortillas. $12 Sadly, this dish wasn't much better. The lamb was tender and it's distinct flavor was easily detectable. Beyond that, the appearance and gaminess detracted from what could have been a triumph. The sauce had a bit of depth. Again, there wasn't a high note to lift the dish from mediocrity. In the dog food category, it would have achieved high marks. The one bright dish of the evening was the starter. Shrimp Corn Cakes: Griddled spicy chipotle shrimp on buttermilk corn cakes with whipped chipotle butter. Topped with salsa fresca. $10 The lovely corn cakes were delicate and cooked well. The shrimp was dusted with a chili rub and not entirely overcooked. There is room to improve and there is definitely reason to attract a crowd given the location and the amount of space in the restaurant. But for the sake of consistency and appealing to gourmands looking for an authentic Mexican culinary experience, the kitchen needs to take a step back and make sure that the ingredients are in stock and that the dishes are prepared as described. Attention to detail on the small things, especially when multiple things aren't done well can ruin an otherwise well contrived establishment.

I went there last week with my boyfriend for dinner. The atmosphere is nice, and the prices were good. That being said, the food was alright. The guacamole was amazing. The shredded beef tacos I got were very dry and made me gag more then once. They were spicy, which I can deal with, but not with dry meat. The waiter was pushy with trying to get us to buy alcohol (my boyfriend is not a drinker) so that put me off a great deal. He was also hard to find. The food came out really quickly, however my soda came 10 minutes after my food. Would I go back? Maybe, but I've had better.

A second visit to Miguel's (back in February) left us less thrilled than our first visit, but still quite happy. We went for a late brunch, finding the dining room practically empty and only one server working. We were happy to eat slowly and relax, but noted that the other two tables both seemed irritated by slow service. We had plenty of chips and salsa to keep us busy, and actually really enjoyed talking about the week that had passed and slowing down for a bit. This was actually the first of several instances of no salt or pepper on the table - while most of the food here is quite nicely spiced, the chips needed a little salt, and my entrée would've welcomed some black pepper. It was nice to have more room on the table, but seasoning would've been nicer. D described his tacos as boring, and not very easy to eat. They fell apart when picked up, and would've been improved by crisper shells. Miguel's goes by the more traditional definition of corn tortillas and uses two thin shells instead of one crispy one. His preference is for one crispy shell, and more flavorful contents. The chicken was stringy and would have benefited from crema or one of the smoother salsas. The brisket didn't have enough flavor from its braise and was also just okay - nothing too special. The carne asada is described on the menu as being flash-grilled, and the waitress didn't ask how I wanted it cooked, so my assumption had been that it was to be served rare - that's definitely the impression "flash-grilled" gives. Unfortunately, it was served pretty well done. My fault for not specifying, though it would have been nice to have been asked. It was quite tender, so it didn't suffer much at all from being thoroughly cooked. It is my preference to have good steak practically still kicking, but tenderness is paramount. The green mole sauce was delicious, but the stewed zucchini were actually the star - great flavor and very nicely cooked. The churros, of course, are fantastic. Definitely the best part of the meal. Hot, not too greasy, and with a really fantastic caramel. I'm pretty sure we'll be back again, but we'll order carefully - sticking with things that are heavily sauced seems to be the way to go, especially since their moles are just fantastic and it's a shame to miss out on a chance to eat them.

Overall, Miguel's is a pretty nice looking spot with a cool vibe. The service was pretty good, they played some nice latin music over the loudspeakers, and had a pretty nice view outside the windows. There is also outdoor seating available, but due to the shade we stayed inside since it would've been to chilly. The cheesesteak on the menu was tasty, however their guacamole was kind of mediocre especially for the cost. It lacked onions which made the guacamole have a flat sort of taste. Overall, my friend and I enjoyed our lunch, then even stayed to watch the evening Ravens game and chill.

Awesome food, Great Ambiance, off-the beaten path, Fair Prices, TV Screens for the game...4-star easy. Came looking for the wine bar that was closed that day so ended up at Miguels. Parking is a bit weird, possibly problematic, and getting in to the building is a little different. Its a great place if you are in the area....go here for a date or with groups.

First time there today-for lunch. We were given water and fabulous chips and salsa quickly, but our server was slow in greeting us, despite the fact that the restaurant was empty when we arrived. Once he connected, though, he was fairly attentive. We very much enjoyed the carne asada, and the carnitas. Omgosh....the corn pudding that was served with the carne asada was incredibly yummy! This is not the place to come if you like Mexican places serving "choose your own combo" meals, but if you're tired of that, do try Miguel's. I loved the atmosphere and the pluckiness of the sign out front which snarked about the neighbors who had forced them to start using their smoker. I realize their problem isn't mine, AND I still giggled over it. I will absolutely go back...and soon!

I like this place, it is cozy and warm and fun with good music and decent food. We sat at the bar and had drinks, fresh chips and then ordered some dinner. The jimaca salad was delicious, the tacos tasty and the green rice that came with them outstanding. The server was pleasant. Overall, it is a cozy place to come with friends, it is not fancy or very expensive. It might be a bit hard to find with the construction, but it is worth it.

I live in Locust Point, and Miquels is a close by fun place to go. I'm not always 100% satisfied by their food, but I love the atmosphere and the drinks! Service: I've found all of the servers to be incredibly nice and helpful, however there can be long periods of waiting (to give your order, get your food etc.). I go probably once a month on average and many of them recognize me and say hello which is nice. Food: Food is tricky here. I don't love it. I find that the food can be poorly seasoned, and just lacking "something." It's never been disgusting by any means, just a little plain. I try to stick to the nachos, and haven't been let down that way. Drinks: LOVE the drinks, this is by far the best part. Margaritas are good, and there are many options. I found, what is now, my favorite drink, a Michelada...can't get enough! Price: Price can also be tricky, when I go with friends I find that after a simple meal I've somehow spent $50/person. Sometimes I find prices to be a little frustrating, but usually I'm having a good time which helps calm the sting. Atmosphere: I think it's a great atmosphere, although it is loud. If you don't like noise, I wouldn't go after 8:00. The space has very high ceilings and everything just seems to echo. Other: I have to say, I hate the women's bathroom! I never know if people are in the stalls, and how to lock them. My friend had a brunch here the day after her wedding and it was very nice, so you might consider it for an event as well.

Really disappointing meal at Miguel's tonight. The guacamole was solid, and tasted fresh, but everything else, including the chips, tasted like bar food ( which, I guess, it is). The Carne Asada Empanadas could have been good, but there was so little filling, it was hard to say. It just tasted like pastry. I was not at all a fan of the Baja Tacos--store bought tortillas, flavorless fish, and weird sour cream (the "Baja Sauce"). I cannot for the life of me imagine why people call this place "authentic." Authentic Sobo bar, maybe?

This place has amazing food my husband and I have been t here many times. the homemade chips and the salsa are really good ( but they used to be spicier) my husband orders the Carnitas Juvencio which is roasted pork in coca cola it comes with re fried beans pico de gallo , reddish and it is a full plate. truly amazing, I order different dishes last time I was there was on June 2nd and I order the lamb that it was a special it was plenty food. we also had an appetizer we got the queso con chorizo it comes with homemade tortillas. Like I said the food is amazing if you are looking for authentic Mexican food that is not a burrito or a taco is actually real food. So why 3 stars becuase last time that I was there on June 2nd 2013 my husband and I arrived around 3pm and the air condition wasn't on it was 90 degrees outside and we ate and sweat we asked the server why the air wasn't on and he said that they turn it on at 5pm so my question is the customers that come to Miguel's at 3 pm are not worthy to eat in a cool place. also the table wasn't wipe down and it was sticky. That is why I gave them 3 starts, when is 90 degrees outside and I go inside to eat I prefer a cool place

Agreed with the others, its tough to find and yes I did feel like I got +50 cool points for arrival. That said, its not impossible to find. The website does a good job pointing out where to go, and there are a few signs that can aide you in finding the place. The environment of the place is great. The building is very modern and not restaurant-like at all. Inside the restaurant is still impressive but really its the architecture and the location of the restaurant that gets you. As for the place itself, call ahead for reservations if you're planning on going at some sort of prime time. We went without reservations on a Saturday night and waited almost an hour and a half for a table (they said it would be 45 mins). Fair enough, that was our fault.. but when we were seated it took another 15 minutes before anyone even took a drink order. (Note that after we did order, they were fast with refills, and the food came quickly... we just had issues getting started!) It seemed like they had some issues managing the tables- assuming other people had to similarly wait for service, the wait time for a table could have significantly less. The food was good, and very creative. It wasn't the typical "mexican fare" and had some pizzaz to it. We got guacamole to start which made us have tortilla chip overload with the provided salsa and chips. (The chips were great though!) I had the enchilada platter which was good, but had a very different flavor to it. The "el trio" burrito was delicious (and I think I preferred it to my meal). They have a full bar and a great number of drinks. The prices are surprisingly reasonable for the atmosphere and probably are slightly cheaper because of the off-the-beaten-path location. I'll be back- but with a reservation.

Miguel's is our favorite local restaurant. It's true that it is a little hard to find, but that's all right with me, if it keeps everyone and their mom from going there and crowding out the joint. I have actually wanted to try this place for the last year, but never made it. Now, I can't get enough of it. Over time, I've had a few things from here. I am usually the kind of person who always gets the same thing from a restaurant, if I really love it. Why fix what isn't broken? But I have found a lot to love about Miguel's. We often bike here, which is easy, since Silo Point has plenty of bike racks. We love the atmosphere...all the tables and the bar look out on the train yard and the shipyard, and during the day, you can see the harbor. The ceilings are high, and the windows go all the way up. I also like the brightness of the Day of the Dead imagery. We've also always gotten pretty good service...though if you sit at the bar, you will have to be patient, as the bartenders are serving food to everyone there as well. We do tend to go on Thursdays, as Margaritas are half off at the bar (the frozen Margaritas aren't included in the half price Thursdays, but they are some of the best, strongest, and most delicious I've ever had). The dish I get the most is the El Tri Burrito, which, admittedly, hits you over the head with its size, richness and spice level, but I like it spicy. My companion's favorite dish is the Carnitas Juvencio, pork chunks cooked in Coke. We've also tried a few other small things we loved as well, like the Shrimp Corn Cakes, Chile Relleno, and Piccadillo Empanadas. One thing...they have corn AND flour chips, but the flour ones only come when you order Guacamole...however, you can request flour chips with your Salsa and they won't give you a hard time. Our most recent visit found us there at brunch on Sunday, where we were pleasantly surprised to find $10 endless Tequila Sunrises, Bloody Marys/Marias, or Screwdrivers. I did find that the drinks were not made nearly as strong as the Margaritas, and my date had to return his Bloody Mary because it was FILLED with pepper (the one sip I had contained enough pepper to coat a steak), and he doesn't dig things that are too spicy. They said they couldn't make them without the pepper, which I thought was weird. This time, my date tried the Desayuno Burrito, which had Mole sauce, Carne Asada, Carnitas, and Chorizo, along with eggs and beans, and it was huge, delicious and not too spicy. I absolutely drooled over my Pan Francaise Frito, which was like no french toast I've ever had. It tasted more like a soft cinnamon and sugar coated Churro with whipped cream and a touch of Agave syrup, and the smoked bacon was the perfectly cooked complement. I told my date that this visit was the tipping point for writing a Yelp review, because I really didn't think it was possible to like Miguel's more than I already did. Please don't go there, but if you do, don't take my table. :)

In my continued quest for the ultimate burrito, my gf and I decided to try Miguel's Cantina. As a California native, I was skeptical about the recommendations but decided to give it a go. We did not have a hard time finding the place as there are (new?) signs indicating where the restaurant is located once you enter Silo Point. I have to say, the two versions of salsa (one green and citrusy - I believe tomatillo and the other chipotle) were a nice touch and perhaps the best part of the meal. The guacamole was meh and a disappointment after our initial excitement when the waitress asked us if we wanted garlic in it. Super bland - and completely missing basic ingredients such as cilantro and lime. My gf ordered a vegetarian soup which was ok but was missing something to elevate it to "good." My burrito was a good size (for those not familiar with Mission Streeet burritos, I guess, it can appear as "brick" sized) but the mixture of pork, chicken and steak was no carne asada as it was very one note and lacking in the juicy flavor one expects from a burrito. Having said that, the sauces and the toppings on the burrito were good but my quest for the ultimate burrito in the east coast continues....

I love Mexican food and this is some of the best. I'm surprised the reviews aren't across the board excellent because everything we had was really good. For starters, I love the flour chips instead of the usual corn. The salsa is unusual and tasty. I really appreciate that the menu goes beyond the typical goop in a tortilla. The carnitas were amazing. They were chunks of pork instead of the more common shredded. They were marinated in a flavorful, sweet sauce that the menu says is made with Coke. It was juicy and not overcooked. My girlfriend got a giant burrito with three sauces that look like the Mexican flag. It was good and spicy. I fear this restaurant can't survive in its out of the way location but I sure hope it does. Edit: I've now been here a few times and it never disappoints. But a warning that some of the dishes are extremely spicy with nothing in the menu's description giving a clue. I'd suggest you ask about any dish if you are sensitive to spiciness.

Ditto on other reviews about not being able to find the entrance to this place. We also had no idea where to park. However, once we got inside, we were seated right away (it was a weeknight). They bring you chips and two dips, which were really better than the generic chips you usually get. These you could tell were made in-house and were thick and salty-- just as you would want them to be. I ordered an unsweetened iced tea and it turned out to be mango iced tea... delicious! Our server was so friendly and helpful, especially since I didn't know what more than half of the ingredients on the list were. But both of our meals were really good. I got a burrito, he got some meal where they use coca-cola in the sauce!? It was soooo delicious! They really put a lot of thought into their food here, which is so refreshing. I don't think you can go wrong with what you order. The service was a little bit slower, but not too slow that I was upset by it. I liked the slower pace-- it gave us time to sit and enjoy the delicious food and great atmosphere / view! I'd come back :)

Though you might have to map out your way to the restaurant (it's buried within the massive granite columns of the Silo Point complex), as soon as you step inside Miguel's you feel like you're suddenly earned 50 cool points. With it's modern, fresh decor, this restaurant is such a welcome addition to the area. I work at neighboring Tide Point and when my only real options for food are Shopper's and Harvest Table, I feel that Miguel's might be a savior to us hungry business folks. The staff is great, the food is great, and the overall ambiance of the place is spot-on. Sure, I couldn't tell you half of the traditional dishes I ordered there but I can tell you that they were all delicious. All are reasonably priced and they even have a nice tapas menu. My second time there was with a larger party, which was greeted with no problems by the staff and prompt service. Again, thumbs up. So do I like Miguel's? Answer is: hell to the yes. Enjoy.

I went here for lunch yesterday with some coworkers. I like the location because it's convenient to downtown, but out of the way enough that we didn't need a reservation for lunch. The decor is modern and very lofted. I don't know that I would take my parents here for dinner on a Saturday night, I could see noise being an issue. But it was perfect for a weekday, and had great views of the water and two huge marine ships. so the food. we each ordered two items. My coworkers started with the Jicama y Naranja salad (jicama, oranges, arugula and pumpkin seeds) which was HUGE and refreshing. It was probably my least favorite item. I started with the tortilla soup: this was pretty spicy, smokey and very thick. I liked it, but not enough to finish it. Next I had the Puerco y Naranja Flauta (Shredded pork, fresh orange, almond, jack cheese. Salsa de chile rojo). This was the standout for me. My coworker had the Carnitas Juvencio (12-hour, slow-roasted chunks of tender pork. Served with refried beans, cilantro, onions, jalapeño, lime and warm corn tortillas). The flavor of this pork was awesome, but it wasn't as tender as I would have thought. The last person got some tacos that looked ok, but I didn't try them. Really, I would give them 3.5 stars, because I love spicy food, and this is pretty good. Also, the portion sizes are HUGE, and the price is reasonable for what you get. Our bill was $15/person (before tip). But it's too out of the way for me to realistically eat at often.

Have been to Miguels a few times, for dinner, drinks, and most recently, brunch. Love the atmosphere (once you find the entrance), great cocktails, and the food is good, if not great. The chilaquiles at brunch were excellent, however. Service seems to be a bit slow (even with a mostly-empty restaurant during brunch)/uninformed-- when i asked the waitress about in-house baked goods, as directed by the menu, which says "All baked goods are homemade in-house by Chinna Jenn's Goodies. Spicy almonds, cinnamon-sugar almonds, caramel corn and much more. Please ask your server for details and a price list," she had no idea what i was talking about and went to check, then came back with "oh, that just means the pancakes are made in-house" Still, I like this place for a casual Mexican meal or cocktails. Don't go without reservations, you'll wait forever.

I'll be honest, when it comes to Mexican food, eh, I'm not so into it, but I really enjoyed Miguel's. The portions were huge, the cheese dip was AMAZING, and the interior of the restaurant was pretty cool. Bar was nice as well. I had the slow roasted pork, and when I couldn't finish it all I took it home and devoured it the next day. It can be a little tricky to find though. Kind of hidden in a building complex away from the parking lot, you have to follow little signs to find the front door and at night they can be hard to spot.

Good food & ambience. One of the few restaurants in the area that don't feel like a sports bar. Soft tacos are delicious & nice selection of margaritas (Though they have TVs above the bar, don't worry)

As other reviews have noted, it's a little hard to find. As for the food, the flavors were authentic Mexican, from the fresh tortilla chips and salsa to the flavorful mole sauce, but the ingredients and combination of foods was non-traditional and upscale. I had the squash blossom quesadilla and a cactus salad. I didn't like the flavor of the cactus but it was a generous serving. The quesadilla had a unique taste but was not a favorite. My favorite dish of the night was the corn cakes and shrimp appetizer. My friend had lamb empanadas, which she enjoyed. The quality in food was there so even though I didn't love everything, I would definitely return and try other dishes.

I liked Miguel's. The menu is a little tough to translate since the ingredients are more complex than Chili's or Chi Chi's. The food is too. Interesting flavors are the result. I need to go there again. How many places can you get grasshoppers as a small plate? I didn't have them, but I want to try them. The small plates were not small. I could have two of them and be very happy. I had two and a Caesar salad and was stuffed. Total came to the price of what I would pay for a quality entree somewhere else so I think it is a reasonable value. It was way better than a combo platter at most "Mexican" restaurants. The restaurant can seem a bit loud and appear cold, but it is an urban restaurant in an industrial revitalization. People might complain now, but I bet I can't get a seat inside or out by summer.

Good food & drinks, cool space/decor. Service can be slow at times but it's a nice place to relax & hang out if you're not in a rush. Entrees are low-to-moderately priced but you can get a pretty generous plate of tacos or flautas for cheap (like $6). The enchiladas come with edible sauteed cactus which I didn't like much, but everything else was great.

Best Mexican restaurant in Baltimore. Great margarita selection, nice authentic food menu. I am obsessed with the poblano corn chowder which was recently readded to the menu. Service is always welcoming and the atmosphere is fun and casual. Definitely a gem and worth the trip out to locust point.

What a terrible experience. Tried one of the "new" items and got chicken breast that was raw and uncooked. Felt sick to my stomach and couldn't eat after that. Service was pretty bad and really didnt do anything to accomodate us for the cooks mistake. The soup was good, as were the chips, but the guacamole tasted like store bought paste. Would not recommend.

We tried Miguels for the first time lastnight and thought it was okay. It does well in some areas and not so well in others. The space is loud. High ceilings and concrete don't help. I would not recommend if your looking to have a conversation. The salsa and chips are very good. Authentic and fresh. Good drink selection, wine, tequila, beers. I love the fact have have Dos Equis on tap and they are 23oz glasses! The food. It's spicy. I like spicy food and liked the flavors. My wife was miserable. The guacamole was awesome as the tequitos. The entrees were okay. I had the carne asada or steak with mole sauce. The mole sauce was not authentic. Real mole has like 30 ingredients and is a thicker sauce. This was lighter and not much flavor. My wife has enchiladas and it was a big portion. I like the green sauce, but it was spicy. Service - This was my biggest hang up. Our waiter was never around when we needed something. He seemed to have too many tables. So, would we go back? YES, and would like to try some other dishes.

Great atmosphere, as well as fantastic food and drinks. The (flour) chips and salsa set the tone for the meal, and the menu has a great variety of entrees and small plates. While i've tried many things on the menu and have not been disappointed, i would recommend the pork, as i think the kitchen excels in its preparation While this is a great place for an adult happy hour, i'd add that it is also very family friendly. We've brought our infant there several times, and the staff was accommodating, and the dining room was just loud enough that the occassional baby noise was drowned out.

Went a couple weeks ago with the gf with high expectations. Coming from California, I am always up for Mexican food and I had read good things about this place. It was also our first time around Silo Point, which from the outside is kind of cold, but the actual restaurant is very nice, I especially enjoyed the dia de los muertos theme. I ordered the carnitas and my gf ordered the chorizo tacos and a ceaser salad (which by the way was invented in Mexico). The salad was brought out unlike any other ceaser I've seen: with the romaine lettuce unchopped. That was kind of cool and was tasty, but the dressing just seemed a little off. My carnitas (which they marinade in coca cola) were too sweet, really probably my fault for ordering something drenched in soda and thinking it would taste like the carnitas my grandmother would make. The chorizo tacos were pretty good, and in the future I think I will try something else. I think I am a little disappointed only because when I think of Mexican food, I think of homemade stuff from back home, where as this place is good but the food is a little gimmicky, not authentic in my opinion.

This I definately a great place for Mexican food in Baltimore. I love trying all their specials, but I also just break down and have to order the El Tri Burrito. It is just so good! The margaritas are great... My personal favorite is the watermelon one they had this summer- fresh and not too sweet! I also love their guacamole. The only real complaint I have is that 60% of the time if I ask for tomato and garlic in the guac (provide on request stated on menu) it doesn't have those things. I'm not the type to send food back unless its inedible and I like the guac just prefer with tomato so I always just eat it anyway. Note to the chef: I miss miss miss those light flaky chips that used to be served with the guacamole. Now you get red tortilla chips which are fine but so not as delicious! Overall love the place and would recommend to any lover of Mexican food! Get the burrito :)

Excellent Mexican food from the chips (much better than chips!) and salsa to the entrees. The burritos are the size of a loaf of bread--I had leftovers for 2 teenage boys the next day. I honestly am not a Mexican food person, but the food at Miguel's takes Mexican food to a new level! I came with 3 people and split the guacamole and another appetizer, we ordered 2 entrees between the 4 of us and saved room for 2 desserts--we still had leftovers. The fish tacos are awesome. Loved the margaritas, too. The tab came in under $50 a couple--awesome and reasonable--cant go wrong!!

If you work in Locust point this is a great location for lunch. The Mexican cuisine has good variety and the selection of what's on tap is good.

The food was borderline bad. They try to make it look fancy with shnazzy plates, and making designs out of the sauce that covers the food. but it pretty much was terrible. I even ordered enchiladas, which is a staple mexican food item, which they should have no excuse to screw up-- but they did. We also tried to order nachos (which strangely werent on the menu-- youd think any mexican restaurant would have nachos). The waitress said the chef would make it special for us, which was nice. But as my girlfriend is a vegetarian we asked that it would not have meat. The waitress told us that the chef was very particular about how he made it and wouldnt make it without the meat, despite dietary restrictions!!!! Unbelievable!!! The service in this place suffered due to downright poor management, as I think the place could have used 2X as many waiters. Even though the waitress herself was trying her best, we got our appetizer at the same time as our meals, the water never came. The standard chips and salsa at the beginning came very late. Atmosphere-- okay. but who cares after all the stuff we had to deal with before.

This place in amazingly good! All of our food had a "fresh" bite! If you are looking for authentic flavors this is the place to go, if you are a huge fan of basic Tex-Mex then stay away... this place is too good to be mediocre!!! Our server was awesome!

First the good. The place is pretty cool as it is located in the renovated grain elevator at Silo Point. They did a good job of decorating into a pretty unique space. The service was very good. The salsa dips and chips were great. The guacamole we ordered as a starter was also pretty good though a little one dimensional in flavor (was based on really good avocados). Now the bad. Maybe we should have gotten the small plates but we did not and instead we each ordered a traditional large plate. I got the pork and my wife got the salmon. The portions were huge but horrible. It was the worst meal, of any ethnic origins, that we have had in the past year. The salmon had too many flavors going on and left only indigestion in its wake. The pork was candy like and also left indigestion in its wake. I hope this was just a bad night but we will not be back to see.

As Texans steeped in Mexican food, we were looking forward to trying Miguel's Cocina y Cantina. Upon arrival its atmosphere was hip and the service good. However, that's where it ended. Pork Carnita's were so sweet as to be almost inedible. THe Chorizo Taco's were anything but Chorizo as we were unable to find any Chorizo. The chicken enchaladas were way overcooked and chicken tough and hard in texture. The shrimp dish had very small shrimp that were way overcooked. Will not return!

had a very strange experience at miguels. we waited 45 minutes for a table, and ended up being seated at a table that had been open the entire time. we waited a long time for a server, and ordered drinks and entrees at the same time, once someone finally came. the food came out before our drinks, and our server didn't bring us chips until we were ready for our check. that being said... the food was amazing! i had the trio burrito, and it might have been the best i have ever had. i will definitely try miguels again and hope for better service.

We ate here for my birthday. It is kind of hard to find but it is well worth it. We had reservations and good thing we did, it was hopping on this Tuesday night. I had the fish tacos and carne asada empanadas. Skip the fish tacos and just get the empanadas. They are delish. My friends loved the chicken enchiladas as well. Margaritas are good as was the guac. The chips are great! Only complaint is that poor server had 10 tables and was the only waiter. I will definitely be back.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
