Felt like checking out the other side of the street today. I was looking for a sub and found good options here after checking out three other places that didn't appeal to me. Sub was hot, tasty and huge. I wanted to eat half but ended up eating all of it, so full! I've been here before but mostly for breakfast. Staff is friendly and service is fast. Location is at one of the corners of Hopkins so may be a bit of a culture shock to newcomers but that can be good for putting things into perspective and getting a quick sociology lesson. Got a reality check when a teenage boy came in selling bootleg copies of a movie. The struggle is real.

Quality wise great. But don't call to order food. Felt like I was trying to reach me ex. 24 times and no answer. Did they file an ex parte? Good grief.

This use to be the place but the subs aren't as good as they use to be. I like there pizza when its fresh, not reheated after sitting all day, uncovered I might add.

this used to be the spot. maybe my taste buds werent as seasoned as they are now. had a sub from here recently and it was just eeh okay. service sucked too. its in the hood but where johns hopkins is. i guess ive outgrown this service and food menu. will go to macgerks for a cheesteak or hopkins.

Had the Chicken cheesesteak. Very bland and super blah... Could be because the chicken just sits in a bowl of milky broth all day before the cooks slap it on the grill. Or the generic 8" hoagie roll. Either way, I was hungry and in a pinch it hit the spot.

I have been ordering here for years. I order food from this place when I do not feel like eating healthy lol The subs and fries are very good. My friends always order a cheesesteak, shrimp cheesesteak, or chicken cheesesteak. I normally order a cheese fish on a bun. Everything we order is tasty. Notes: Although there are 2 or 3 small tables, no one really orders food from here to dine in. It's more of a local carry out food shop that everyone loves. The place is located across the street from Johns Hopkins hospital. So, it is always busy. There is no parking lot for the food shop. So, you will have to find parking on the street.

I have only tried their gyro special offer. Beef Gyro tastes good.. A bit too much of the fresh onions though. The fries side comes in a huge portion big enough for two to share, same thing for the soda. I would say if you're really craving comfort food in the shape of a gyro combo you should definitely try this place

Great food and nice environment !! Service can get slow when they get busy but it makes for great conversation.

I have never even heard of a chicken cheesesteak on pita. Lets just say if you are at all interested this is surely the place to come and get it. Pretty busy for a Friday but well worth. Even the fries and half and half were delicious

At least you're across the street from JHU Med when your heart gives out. The food is greasy but secretly delicious. Authentic cuisine from Italy. LOL jk, but the owner and her son did speak Italian.

This is a fair greasy spoon. I ordered the pepper steak and it was good. don't plan to eat in. even if one of the four tiny tables is free, it's an unpleasant atmosphere; dark, grungy and you'd be crowded by all the patrons waiting in line. there are not a lot food options in this area and if you have an extended stay at Hopkins like I did, it's good enough for a change of pace.

Being that my mother worked directly across the street from this place, I found myself in the crowded line more than a few times waiting to get a cheese fish sandwich with everything no hots. The food is good and the prices are reasonable for the large portions that you get. The crowd is definitely mixed. At any given time you can find yourself standing between a doctor and a drug dealer both waiting to get a cheese steak . if you don't mind the long lines that they have at times, than this is a definitely a good place to check out.

Definitely a greasy spoon diner in style (with very limited seating and no table service to speak of), Mama Mia's offers cheesesteak that I still crave upon visits to Baltimore years later...mmmmmm. Not diet food by any means, MM's is a place with local flavor in a character-filled part of town near the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine that draws a crowd at all hours of the day. The few times I managed to fight the urge to order cheesesteak (personally preferred topped with mouth-watering melted cheese, mushrooms, and "hots", a chunky hot pepper sauce), a slice of pizza offered feeding of stomach but not soul though was overall decent. Mama Mia's has a full menu fit for a modest income and the reader is invited to explore all the place has to offer. However, be forewarned: the cheesesteak is totally where it's at!

Generous helpings of greasy delight, is what comes to mind. Try the cheesesteak or cheese-fish sub with everything and a half & half. I could go on and on about how good they are, and you wouldn't have to take my advice. However, the fact that there's a crowd from open till close, of lab coats, suits, jeans, heels, flipflops and boots tells of the dedication or addiction of the masses. Oh and the fact that my sister in Connecticut still asks about the place I took her to for the cheesesteak.

It's a greasy spoon. Walk in here for lunch, and your coworkers will smell it when you get back to the office. Oh well! Their burgers and fries are usually pretty good. Pizza by the slice is meh, but order a whole pizza and the quality improves dramatically. Greek salads are delicious.

Walked in here for the first time a couple days ago while I was still recovering from a birthday hangover. The menu is extensive- lots of subs, sandwiches, burgers, pizza, and fried goodies. They also carried baked goods (cheescake, pie, etc) in the display case next to the grill. In my delicate state I was a little confused but eventually figured out that this place is really low key. You simply call our your order to the fry cook who looks the least occupied. The gentleman who took my order was proactive and very friendly and helpful. Then you scoot down to the other end of the store and pay for your order and snatch a drink. I can see how this system would slow down a lot when a busy crowd comes in- between two cooks processing all orders as they come up it can probably be a wait although I got my order in around 10 minutes. I ordered the chicken parmesean sub because lets face it, when I can get chicken parm in a pinch for 8.00 including a drink I TAKE IT. I had to hibernate here for an hour while waiting for my cousin who was tied up with a training, and I was not asked to leave (even tho I looked a hot mess). All in all this place is chill and next time I run by I am DEFINITELY taking advantage of the less-than-two-bucks order of french fries.

Nice people behind the counter, neighborhood feel. It's got a good cheesesteak and gyro, and the fries are like McDonalds, meaning they are delicious. Not pretty, but pretty delicious.

Uh, they fry stuff, and they're good at it. Your run of the mill fast-casual fry joint, if a fried food mood catches your fancy. I had the shrimp basket, which hit the spot. They also offered some HUGE slices of cake which were calorically dense, in a delicious kind of way. Open until 2 am for late night study sessions. If you happen to have a heart attack, it's a good thing the best hospital in the universe is right across the street.

As I work nearby, this place along with the market has been a lunchtime favorite. The spinach pie is good when in a pinch for food, it's home made, by the mother of the two guys that run it infact, and is quite delictable. Pizza wise, okay, not great, but not bad. For subs I've always gotten the cheeseburger sub and haven't been dissapointed with it. On a whole the portions are generous, and prices not bad. The scenery not the best, bc of the location it can draw a dicy crowd. So like the airport, if some one asks you to hold on to a bag for them, it's best to say no.

I ordered a large pepperoni pizza, and I have to say that I am surprised by all the positive reviews. I should have probably ordered a cheesteak sub. The pizza was truly terrible, on par with high school cafeteria pizza, worse than frozen grocery store pizza. The dough was not fully cooked so was soggy in the center, and the cheese tasted like it was 50% imitation cheese added to real cheese. Any national pizza chain you can think of would be a better bet. However, I will give them the benefit of the doubt and maybe it was a fluke thing and I just came on a bad day. The staff was friendly while I was there, and when I called about it from home, they would not refund me, but told me to bring in my uneaten pizza for another one. I don't live close enough for that hassle, nor did I want another pizza :( but at least they made an effort to placate me, so 1 star for the pizza, 1 star for the staff.

Grease done right. There's nothing for a rough work day like a half and half, a cheesesteak, and some onion rings. This is not a vegetarian or vegan friendly restaurant.

I eat here 5 days a week. breakfast and most of the time for lunch as well. they sell pizza by the slice and its a decent size for 2.00, thats with tax. i usually get a chicken cheese steak and they use real chicken breast, not the thin sheet of chicken meat. thats like under 6 bucks. for breakfast I usually get scrambled egg & cheese sandwich for 1.85 after tax, and the pancakes aka hot cakes are pretty good.

We'd driven by Momma Mia's a number of times before deciding to go there for some pizza. We got a large cheese pizza and, while unspectacular, it did not disappoint. If you're looking for gourmet, you might try someplace else... but if you're looking for just good pizza and fast, you can't miss here.
