This is a quaint little place in Little Italy with a friendly staff who are eager to help you: ) This place has a look and feel of a local hangout place - saw a few guys lounging in the patio - shooting the s**t. They were still lounging when I was leaving too - after my meal! I ordered Cheesesteak Italiano and a side of Basil Tomato Mazzarella salad. The cheese was a bit too dry for my liking - must have been sitting there for sometime now :( The Cheesesteak was pretty good - meat was cooked almost medium well. I would have loved medium but I had not asked for it so I cannot complain. Meat was juicy and flavorful :) The place was busy all throughout and most looked like repeat customers - which is always a big plus for me! Look this place up if you are in this part of town!

We went in at the very end of the night around 830pm. They close at 9. We walked in and was a bit worried that they were closing up. The chairs were on top of the tables and they were wrapping up the items in the deli case. However, my husband asked if it was too late to get a pizza and luckily for us he said no. We walked over to the Bocce Court while we waited for our pizza to finish. It was well worth the drive over to get the pizza. It was by far the best pizza we have had. We have had pizza from all over the place. The ingredients taste fresh. The sauce has the perfect blend to where it is not too sweet nor too tomato. The perfect amount of cheese to top it off. So, from having read ratings prior to going there, my response to them would be: the service could have been a little better just by the fact that the guys kind of ignored us when we walked in. The parking could have been better...but when you are in the area, that is the parking for any of the businesses down there. If you don't want to drive, I would grab the free bus or walk. So, the five stars is well deserved for the pizza. The pizza is well worth it! I would go back again, and again, and again. Two thumbs up!

The pizza and the sandwiches are good. The bad is the dingy atmosphere and the employees that seem have a bad day on more than one occasion.

Ordered takeout, a Greco and a Margerhetta small pizza, as well as a Greek salad and a mini-caprese salad. Food was ready on time and really good. Crust, despite being brick oven, is a little bit chewy, really really good.

This place is very good and quite authentic. Fast, yummy, inexpensive. Nice little deli and great pizza. Staff was nice. Great find and I miss it already.

It was my first time in Baltimore. Couldn't have chosen a better place for a pizza. Lay back and very nice staff. I really enjoyed lunch here.

The sandwiches are well-made with fresh ingredients, and the service is quick and friendly. Haven't tried the pizza yet but we live right down the street so I'll be ordering it soon!

This place is GOOD! 5 stars because not only is the food delicious, but the owner (?) was totally awesome. He suggested that because we hadn't been there, to make a meal of "antipasti". Personable guy and great suggestion. My cousin, boyfriend, and I decided to split a little of everything - mmmmmmm. We started with artichoke hearts, marinated mushrooms, and broccoli rabe. The artichoke hearts and mushrooms were to die for. and we fought over the last of them. Unfortunately, the rabe was too spicy and bitter, but a small misstep. Next we split a porchetta sandwich - roasted pork (ham, really), great mozzarella, on delicious bread. We also got two arancini, which were pretty good - risotto balls with sausage in the middle. We topped it all off with a cannoli...so good. We are definitely going back next time we're in B'more.

Wow, the sandwiches here are totally amazing!!! The bread they use with these sandwiches totally kills and separates them from the competition. We got two sandwiches -- the Italian cold cut and meat ball -- both were excellent! These are the best Italian sandwiches I have ever had anywhere!! Seating here is nearly non-existent so call ahead if you need one of their 4 tiny tables. Otherwise, get it to go. We also had their pizza and Caesar salad. Pizza was pretty good (not great) and salad was meh. But did I mention the sandwiches???

Subs and Pizzas are the best around! They have 2 tables so this is a takeout place.

Like previous reviewers have said: The sandwiches are very good and reasonably priced. I went in at about 3:00 PM when everything else in the area seemed closed and was greeted by a quiet, energetic, thin declared young man behind the counter who gave me a great recommendation for a sandwich (The Scooch). Warmed and crisped by the wood fire the sandwich was unctuous and tart with the roasted bell peppers, soppressata, capicollo, porchetta, and gouda cheese with a balsamic vinegar preparation over the top of the goods. While the seating area was "cozy" I really cannot complain about the company of this young man and the blond girl (that I think works there) who spent most of her time talking in Russian on her cell phone outside or to her girlfriend who came in person. All-in-all well worth the 25 minute walk from my hotel downtown.

After a decade in the pizza business I've tried a lot of pizza in a lot of different places. While it's all a matter of personal preference, I have to award Isabella's the top spot (for now) on my personal top ten list of pizzas. I can't say anything more powerful than that in my review. Isabella's is a very small (takeout anyone?) joint but order your pie and go sit and watch bocce around back. The prices were fair but I would pay more for pizza this good. Wife and I devoured a 14" pizza in record time. Parking is tight in this area so plan accordingly. Awesome pizza.

Just moved to Little Italy area in Baltimore from Brooklyn so I was skeptical of good pizza. Well, I found good pizza! Tiny spot, great brick oven style pizza. Really yummy crust and it has that great brick oven taste. We had the margarita and it was delicious and just right. Solid pizza and you won't be disappointed.

My husband and I recently went to one of my favorite places in Baltimore - Isabellas. He was trying it for the first time & was very impressed! He ordered the King Richard pizza & said it was the best pizza he ever had! I ordered a cheese steak americano sub & loved it as always. The fresh ingredients & friendly staff make this a place not to miss. Sure, it's tiny, but the food is absolutely worth the visit!!

Yep. A five star review from us. Really. While walking around the Inner Harbor arguing like cats and kittens I decided to take my girls to Little Italy. Instead of going to a normal sit down we opted for Brick Oven Pizza / Subbies. WOW. We tried two small pizzas and two small subs ... if we only would have tried the normal margarita pizza we would have said ... "Yay! I'm a fan! This is really, really good!" but the white pizza and the pork (thick ham) sandwiches were to die for ... truly perfect mixtures of spices, toppings/meat and bread. There is no doubt we will be back and we will point many folks to Isabella's.

I fell in love with pizza after eating here! I chose the Margherita everything was extremely fresh and delicious, it's a simple pizza with tomato, fresh mozzarella and basil 3 simple ingredients that equaled to a delicious pizza that I would be sure to return. I will never again order from a chain pizza restaurant.

The Isabella sandwich is unbelievable. It's the only thing I've had besides getting some olives to go and I bought my dad a crazy good bottle of olive oil. The owner is very knowledgable and will talk your ear off. No room to eat inside so take it out. Really cute girls make your food by the way.

AWESOME PIZZA! I'm craving it now actually. YUM! If you like thin crust, perfectly doughy pizza with a puffy, slightly chard crust and perfectly portioned toppings, you will LOVE Isabella's. I certainly do. I've never had anything else on the menu, so I can only vouch for the pizza. If you're a deep dish fan, go elsewhere. I rank this pizza above Chazz's, Hersh's, Little Italy PIzzaria, Depasquale's, Bagby (not really 'pizza' is it?) and maybe even just a hair above Iggie's. Maybe. Isabella's is no frills and perfect for calling ahead and picking up on the way home. They even do a take-and-bake option where it's cooked about 75% of the way and you finish off in your oven for 5 mins at 450. But here's the thing... I can't give it 5 stars because I reserve that rating for the best pizza I have ever had, which was in Rome. So 5 stars has been retired until I find a joint in the USA that can match ROMA! CAUTION: Avoid Isabella's on Little Italy film nights or during the festivals. It's a small place and they really can't keep up with hundreds or even thousands of people. Can't blame them.

We never fail to drop by whenever we are in Baltimore. It's a tiny shop. Very minimal seating but if you are patient, you can get a table . I always get "The Scooch" which is really good. Pizza is always good, the kids love margherita. We were there at lunch and tried to get to another place for Friday dinner but all were booked, so we decided to go back to Isabella's and we enjoyed it all the more.

Can't believe that I haven't been here and gotten "scooched". This is a real Baltimore find. If you love freshly made, overstuffed sandwiches and other italian favorites, this place is it! Some friends took me here for lunch and it's the best. It's very small inside for seating but it's got lots of atmosphere. Go, go now!

  • E J.

A really small place, only have like 3 or 4 cramped tables, so its probably better for a quick lunch. Got the Roma sandwich which was sausage, peppers and onions, and provolone. I got the 12 inch which was $9.99. It all came on really good Italian bread. It was pretty expensive but really good. Had like 2 whole sausages on it and it was baked to perfection. Also got a large (14 inch) classic pizza with meatballs. The pizza was amazing and only cost 14. It was enough for 2. The crust wasn't too thin but was still nice and crunchy. Meatballs tasted home made. If only the sandwiches were cheaper, it would be 5 stars.

Went to Isabella's after a couple of weeks of craving good brick oven pizza. Well, if this spot has the best bop in Bmore, then that's really sad. The pizza is ok. I ordered the marghuerita and regular cheese pies. Crust was dense. I like my crust with more air (light/fluffy??). Cheeses and spice were very good. The pizza at Isabella's is just "ok" to me. I made a special trip to this spot after researching online and reading the reviews on here (yelp). I can't imagine traveling here in the future just for the food. The service was good. I went in the late afternoon, so parking was not an issue. The deli is cute if you like Italian meats and other culinary delights.

  • Carrie L.

Wow. This place wasn't at all what I expected. I though it would be more of a sit-down place, but it's more of a deli with a take-out counter, some market goods, and about 4 or so tables. First of all, they have what I presume to be Italian soda and iced coffee in a case up front. I had a San Pellegrino Limonata and boy, was it good. Not too sweet, and very lemony--quite a contrast with canned "lemonades" you can get stateside. The can was pretty too. Now for the pizza--there are many choices, and you can't go wrong. Whether you want meat or veggies, they have all kinds and it seems as though the meats come right from Italy. My partner had a pizza with cheese and prosciutto. I had a veggie or "Garden" pizza. The veggies were marinated mushrooms, roasted peppers, and roasted eggplant. What a difference from a typical "veggie" pizza. They also have subs and salads. If the subs and salads are anything like the pizza, I'm sure they're quite delicious. This place makes for a nice little lunch stop in Baltimore's Little Italy.

  • Mark H.

The pizza is made in a wood burning oven right in front of you. They use the best ingredients, including mozzarella made in house and freshly sliced meats. Best place to get either a pizza or sandwich in Baltimore's Little Italy. It is a zoo at lunch but worth it. Great staff as well.

Have you ever watched an 80's movie, in which our hero, is a bachelor. His kitchen is always littered with empty pizza boxes and his fridge has two Chinese food containers and a 6 pack of beer. Ummm ... well confession time... that is the current state of my kitchen. Clearly, I am overly dependent on take out. The empty pizza boxes lately have belonged to Isabella's. I still love Iggie's and Tutti Gusti, but I also like to share the love and the money. I am a big fan of Italian crusts and brick ovens, it just makes a superior pie. While their regular cheese is okay, I highly recommend you venture into some of their fancier toppings. Try their Margherita, delicious especially if you special request sauce instead of fresh tomatoes (In the winter, the fresh tomatoes are pretty anemic). Skip the sausage, and try some of their delicious deli meats like the soppresata or their prosciutto as a meat topping. Parking is nearly impossible in Little Italy, but luckily service is quite fast and you can get your pie and back in the car before getting a ticket because hazzards blinking is not a good enough excuse for blocking a fire hydrant.

This was one of the coolest accidents I've experienced in a long while. On a whim I stopped in this place and decided to order a Pizza Margherita. I was so surprised at how delicious it was! I usually give a little leeway for pizzas south of the Mason-Dixon line, but the quality and flavor of the ingredients reminded me of pizzas I ate in Italy. No kidding. Just the right amount of sauce, crust, cheese, good olive oil, a li'l bit of grease, and a lot of very fresh basil.

On a cold snowy day in Baltimore, I walked with some friends to Isabella's in hope of some gut busting sandwiches. After about 10 minutes of walking in the cold, I really began to wonder if this was worth it. My toes are numb, my face is frozen, but I my stomach told me to push on. Finally, we made it to Baltimore's Little Italy. Isabella's is pretty small, only having about 5 tables and enough room for maybe 20 people, including standing room. The smell of fresh baked bread and pizzas filled my senses and my stomach anticipated the arrival of a Italian stomach doctor. I ordered the Scooch sandwich and also picked out a Arancini (Italian rice ball). Arancini- Arancini is a ball of rice (similar to a risotto) with some peas inside, it is roll in bread crumbs, then fried. It was served with meat sauce and mozzarella. The meat sauce contained some Italian sausage. Overall this was pretty good. It didn't blow me away. The rice could have been softer. The fried exterior of the ball was delicious and crispy. The meat sauce was fantastic and the sausage in it was well spiced and delicious. yelp.com/biz_photos/BJrk… The Scooch- This sandwich contained Capicollo (which comes is cured meat from the pork shoulder and neck), Soppressata (pork that is flattened, seasoned and cured, similar to salami, but salami is ground not flattened), Porchetta (pork roast that is well seasoned with herbs like rosemary and garlic then roasted), Gouda Cheese, roasted peppers, lettuce, balsamic dressing, all on a house made roll. This sandwich was wildly flavorful. The cured, salted and seasoned meats were incredibly tasty. It is hard to find meat seasoned like this, and these were perfect. The roasted peppers, gouda and balsamic added another degree of flavor that can't be described, you just have to eat it. The bread was fresh. A crispy exterior with a soft and tasty interior. The smell of this sandwich will drive you insane. yelp.com/biz_photos/BJrk… yelp.com/biz_photos/BJrk… I would love to also try some of the pizza here sometime. I am sure they are outstanding. The sandwich menu is packed with sandwiches that I am sure are terrific. Overall, I would say this was worth the mile walk through the snow.

You won't find too many places in little italy to get a quick bite. Staying on the waterfront on Presidents St, I took a stroll through little italy looking for a sandwich shop and stumbled upon Isabellas. It also happens to be one of the very few places in the area with only 1 dollar sign. (I am cheap sometimes). First time I got the Rustico with italian beef, bleu cheese, and walnuts. It was so good. I had to go back and try again. What made it good was its complete attention to ALL of the ingredients. So many places put good meat and vegetables onto stale bread, or fresh vegetables matched with poor meat quality. Isabellas puts it all together the way it should be and I don't think they try too hard to do it. Had a small sandwich and drink for about $8. Very small with only 2 tables, though waited only about 5 min for food. I didn't find anyplace in little italy that wasn't good, but this place was the quickest and cheapest. Definitely a stop when I return to Baltimore.

I'm going to be honest - I didn't believe that pizza this good actually existed. Largely due to the influence of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, as a kid I was obsessed with the idea that there must be something better than the Papa John's that was delivered to the birthday parties of myself and my friends. Fast forward about 20 years, and every supposedly 'incredible' pizza experience I have had was somewhat underwhelming, leading me to believe that this holy grail of pizzas I had been imagining would forever remain in my imagination. Thank god I chose to consult Yelp when a friend and I, hungry and wandering around Little Italy, decided to go for pizza. I know that this is a ridiculously long and hyperbolic build-up, but the pizza here is really THAT good. You don't need to eat a ton - an 8" was perfectly sufficient for myself and a friend, and both of us were very hungry. Just savor every bite of this seriously near-perfect experience as often as possible.

I was pretty impressed with this place when I visited. It's located among many Italian and Italian-American establishments in the Little Italy section of Baltimore, a short drive (or reasonably-distanced walk) from Fells Point. I ordered a small Magheria pizza (I think it cost like 8 dollars). It was quite delicious. They seemed to use fresh San Marino tomatoes and the pizza was topped with basil. The crust was wonderful, as would be expected from pizza prepared in a brick oven. I think the establishment is run by Eastern European immigrants, possibly Russian, but I'm not sure. As an additional incentive for visiting, the girl working at the register is a smoking hot blond!

A Yelp-inspired success, Isabella's hit the spot. The DaPatro (Sausage, peppers, onions) was made with fresh ingredients upon ordering and was fantastic. The cannoli to go was so good I was extracting every divergent piece of ricotta from the box. Diverse menu gives you lots of options for pizza and hot/cold sandwiches. Weekday evenings there was no wait, only occasional carry out traffic. Will definitely come back the next time I'm in town.

This place is one of the best kept secrets in Baltimore... a few more 5 star ratings and the secret is going to be out! I don't know how they make them but it's like a bit of delicious magic in this little place! haha. The subs aren't the biggest but what it lacks in size, it makes up in taste!!! It's one of my favorite lunch places so I'll be there! There's only about 3 tables for seating so be sure to take it to go!

  • Ria S.

I'm so glad I found a great lunch spot like this near my office (Thanks Yelp). Sure, it's crowded, cramped at times, but that's how you know it's good! I had a sandwich, and it was simply fresh and delicious. You can taste the fresh baked bread...mmm... The owner/operators seem to be honest, down-to-earth, and friendly people. I will support any business like that! I think I might just become a regular :)

My husband gave this 5 stars, I gave it 4 stars, so it's really like a 4.5. But we both agreed this place is excellent! It was a smaller restaurant than I was picturing, with just a few tables up front. There are various Italian products for sale on the shelves, and the wood-fired oven in the back. We both had sandwiches- I ordered the Scooch, which has 3 different kinds of meat + balsamic dressing + roasted red peppers, plus some cheese and lettuce (I might be missing something else). My husband had the classic Italian sub. We shared them between us. The best part was the meat! It was sliced super thin and there were piles of it- no shortage here. So much flavor and variety! The bread was also great- crusty on the outside, with good soft crumb on the inside, and super fresh. We'll definitely be back- there were tons of good sounding sandwiches and pizzas!

Went here on a recent visit to the Inner Harbor after checking out some other reviews and was not disappointed. I had the Aria sandwich which was delicious although a little oily. It was definitely busy at lunch time and there were only a handful of tables but we were able to get one by the time our order was called. Looked like the pizzas were very popular as well. I would definitely go back again to try more items off of the menu as many things sounded good.

Found this little gem on Yelp and it was everything we had hoped for! Let's put it this way: the last day of our trip was my birthday and could have gone anywhere - this was the only place I wanted to revisit. Brought a bottle of wine and settled down to a plate of sopressatta and prima donna cheese, then a delectable sandwich. I only finished half of my sandwich - the other half came home in my luggage and would have been the only thing truly missed had the bags been lost! My advice is to skip many of the other Little Italy spots that only exist to separate tourists from their lire (La Scala, I'm talkin' to you!) and go here first and again and again! If there's not a seat inside, dine by the bocce court out back - how cool is that?

  • baltibroad C.

yeah, the pizza is really good. the crust is awesome (bubbly, crispy and stretchy all at the same time). I always wind up getting the meatballs and rapini as the toppings, however, other things look good too. As rapini goes, it is bitter, but they put a lot of garlic and red pepper- delicious! The sandwiches are tasty and fresh, but are not so big, so consider one of the sides to compliment. I'll definitely be back. Oh beware, there is not much seating room.

Sandwiches are awesome. I would give it a 5 but there is not a lot of room to eat in. But for a quick bite or food to go I highly recommend.

We stopped by Isabella's durring a recent visit to Baltimore and very generally impressed. Our son wanted pizza and we didn't feel liking eating at Uno's in the harbor area. So with a quick check of Yelp on the iPhone we found this place. It's a short walk from the aquarium area but well worth the hike... it's a definate step up from the chain overcrowded chains right on the water. It's a small place with only a handful of tables, and is a combination pizza place, sandwich shop, and italian store (with meats, cheeses, and a few imported Italian grocery items). The service was friendly and the pizza was very good. They had a nice selection of drinks in the fridge. Definately recommended.

  • Cyndi L.

We ordered the margherita pizza + mushrooms and it was the best meatless pizza i've ever had! The pizza was ready under 10min and its thin crust had the perfect crisp. I couldn't actually see the basil but i could definitely taste it and it made the pizza perfecto. The place is small w/ 4 small tables. The drinks selection is meh so BRING YOUR OWN ALCOHOL ..I mean drinks...w/ or w/o alcohol. There is a bathroom upstairs so ask to get past the cashier and don't kill your bladder.

Quite probably my favorite carry-out place in the entire city. Had at least half of the sub menu and several pizzas. It's allllllllll delicious. My personal favorites are: -The Zinger -Chicken Parm -Italian Coldcut The owner is really nice and friendly and everyone who works there makes it feel like the perfect-corner-neighborhood-place.

My first five star! I agree that a little more space would go a long way here, but I live close enough to pick it up and take it home. Though the first time I went I couldn't wait and ate there. Best pizza in town. Crust, cheese, sauce, all excellent. Even the fresh tomatoes on the margherita pizza were fresh and tasted like real tomatoes.

Great, affordable and tasty sandwiches and pizzas, with top-notch ingredients. The pizza is somewhere between NY and Neapolitan. You can't go wrong here. Really really good, and I am very picky.

5 stars = it does not get better than this. I've only had one experience here but it was great service, and the Italian cold cut sandwich was the BEST I have ever had.

I grew up in Baltimore, but now live in Chicago. Whenever I fly into BWI, I'll stop in and pick up some sandwiches before heading North to visit my family. This is generally my favorite part of the trip. This is the best sandwich I've had in all of Maryland. I think it's the bread that makes it so good. Definitely recommend grabbing food from here.

I worked in Naples, Italy for over 5 months back in 1998 and I can truly say that Isabella's is the real deal! I came into town this past weekend from Virginia Beach, VA and after reading reviews on this website I knew I had to go. I love Neopolitan-style pizza and I can definitely say that I was NOT one bit disappointed. I also ordered the Isabella sandwich....hellz yeah! It was delicious! No pizza by the slice here but the owner did not hesitate to make me a small margherita. Speaking of the owner, the dude is world class! He treated me like I was family. The place is small but the pizza, the ambiance and the energy in the place makes it ginormous! If you're near the Inner Harbor....ya' gots to go!!! I can't wait to go back!!!

  • Ross C.

Wonderful pizza, had one with garlic, rapini, and soppressata which was sliced right before going on the pie. Lots of credit for actually giving the crust some char, although a little bit too much cheese weighed down the pizza and changed the crusts' texture by the end. We will be back!

  • Aly M.

Yumtastic. For carryout, it's perfect. For sitting down, it was a little crowded. We got the Porchetta sandwich and the Margherita pizza. Both were good. I think the Margherita might have been better with fresher tomatoes, but I think it's just a seasonal thing (not quite prime tomato time). I know that while I was there, people were raving about the Lombardi pizza. The sandwich was also awesome. It had lots of flavor and tasted so fresh. I definitely would come here again. Great prices and great flavor. It also had nice people.

We found this place while driving around Little Italy, and it proved to be a very decent spot for a quick and inexpensive lunch. Isabella's looks like an authentic Italian deli, save for two Russian ladies behind the counter. Don't get me wrong: they were extremely nice. It's just not very authentic. The decor isn't much, but it works. As you enter, you see the counter with meats, salads and cold appetizers in front of you, a shelf full of Italian sauces and spices to your left, a cooler with sodas and a blackboard with today's menu offerings to your right. There are a total of five tables, only three of which can seat more than two people. Are you confused yet? Does it begin to sound like one of those word problems in your algebra class? Anyway, I perused the menu on the blackboard overhead and chose the Porchetta sandwich (roasted pork with rosemary, fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, grated cheese and olive oil). I got the 6-inch for $6.99, not the 12-inch version for $8.99. The sandwich was cut in half and served on a plate with a side of nothing. It was garnished with nothing, as well (at no additional charge). Isabella's gets extra points for the sheer quantity and quality of meat. However, I am forced to deduct a couple of points for the quality of bread - the soft white roll was fresh, but lacked in the flavor and texture department. My friend had a tuna sandwich, and she seemed to really enjoy it. I was just glad it was grilled tuna (I cannot stand the smell of tuna salad). If Isabella's were close to my office, I'd put it on the list of my regular lunch places. Since I live about 2800 miles west of Isabella's, I won't be back any time soon.

So after a few more tries at Isabella's, I can confidently say that: 1) It's most likely the cheapest meal you'll find in Little Italy. and 2) They have some darn good pizzas and salads (haven't ventured into sandwiches yet). Being smack dab in the middle of Little Italy, I'm sure many have come to the same conclusion as this place is always packed (but then again a 100 sq. ft. waiting and dining area will seem packed with 6 people in it). The pizzas remain some of the best Italian pizza I've had in Baltimore thus far with that nice thin crust with just enough crustiness to balance the toppings, cheese and sauce. Good classic selection of toppings and always fresh ingredients. Now the salads--for being pre-packaged (same day but still), are pretty amazing. One in particular (whose name escapes me) comes with rosettes of roasted eggplants and a hefty serving of greens and other goodies like olives, tomatoes, etc. For under $10, you sure get a lot (I couldn't finish it in one sitting). All in all a solid selection for Italian staples. Still have to try those sandwiches and their other deli offerings but if you're in the area and looking for a cheap, delicious meal (by Little Italy standards) this is definitely the place to go!

Fresh, great thin crust, and reasonably priced given the high quality.

I tried the King Richard pizza. It is an amazing pizza. The meat was fresh. The dough was absolutely delicious. I would have given it 5 stars, but the 14 inch is kinda a medium size pie for $15 . Thus small size for the price.....Also take out maybe the only option. Not really a sit down restaurant.

Damn they can make a good sandwich here. No a great sandwich. I don't come to Baltimore often, but when I do I come to Isabella's. All the sandwiches are beyond good, making me think why can't I make a superb sandwich at home. To start with I don't have a brick oven or a meat slicer. They have some good bread; it's the perfect balance between crispy yet soft. It's crispy enough to hold up to the oil, keeping the sandwich together, but not so hard as to cut the roof of my mouth. They use homemade bread, top it with freshly sliced meats, cheese, veggie and oil. I usually go with a large sandwich and eat to the point of absolute excess. Today I had half a Hagen and half a Zio Ronni, and then waddled my fat ass down to my hotel for a nap.

Boy is this place delicious! I'm a huge fan of the Subway meatball sub (with banana peppers) but unfortunately Subway couldn't hold a light to Isabella's. I ordered a meatball sub from the deli and was amazed at the high quality of the meat and bread. The meatballs were seasoned perfectly and very juicy, while the bread tasted like it was baked right in the deli. The deli itself is very small with only a few places to sit, but it's well worth it for the food. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Not too expensive either, I paid about $9 for my sandwich.

this is the best pizza in the universe. no better pizza is possible. the crust, the sauce, the cheese and toppings -- everything is world-class. the pizzas are made fresh and served straight out of the oven. your search is over now. seating is a bit limited but that's hardly even a dent in the experience.

I'm a pizza snob from New Haven, and I claim that there are only two places in the city that make a good pizza: Iggie's and Isabella's. If you want gourmet, interesting-because-it's-weird pizza, go to Iggie's. If you want straight-up pizza that doesn't suffer from "Maryland medium crust disease", head to Isabella's and enjoy.

I've been a longtime fan of Isabella's sandwiches, but I just recently tried their pizza for the first time. Thea C. is absolutely right, you don't find better Italian pizza in Baltimore. I'm a longtime fan of BOP, but their crust isn't quite what I'm looking for. I did think that the pizza was a tad bit on the oily side, but it was still delicious and I'll be back here to satisfy my future pizza needs.

Fresh house-made mozarella, layered with tomatoes and delicious basil...quite a sandwich. Still in my mind the next day. Called the Sonny if I remember correctly. Friendly, quick, and extensive outdoor seating. Good selection of San Pelligrino, etc and even some bottles of olive oil for sale. Looking forward to being back soon.

4.5 stars. Yes, yes, yes. I love this place. I've tried most of the sandwiches on their menu as well as their pizza. The sandwiches use a nice light bread with nice mix of chew/crunch to the bread. Their deli meats are a cut above average. They have very nice pork (porchetta sandwich) and good meatballs. Their pizza has a nice crust and while I don't know if it's the best in Baltimore, it's definitely above average. Great place for lunch.

the BEST pizza I have ever tasted! The service is fast and the crust is just amazing! very small like the other reviews stated, so i wouldn't recommend for large groups. I was surprised it looked more like a small deli, but it's soo worth it. They don't make it until you order it. I will definitely go here for pizza from now on! :)

Went on Yelp recommendation. Delicious pizza, interesting menu choices. Crust was chewy--quite different from my recent NYC pizza experience--but it was good. I wasn't a huge fan of the antipasti plate. The olives were mushy and the eggplant flavorless. Only one kind of cheese and two meats. We ended up tossing most of it. Tiny tight interior--one table for four people (with a chair hanging out into the doorway)--and a couple tables for two or three. I found the blaring heavy metal industrial rock a bit annoying.

Isabella's rocks! Best pizza in this part of the east coast. Everyone who has reviewed so far is right. The pizza is far better and more authentic than BOP. Guy Fieri wrote up BOP, but boy did he ever miss the mark on that one. Best Italian sandwiches anywhere. The best time to eat at Isabella's, is anytime, but even better is on Friday nights in July, when they show movies on the brick wall across the street. Little Italy denizens drag out the lawn chairs and card tables, go to Isabella's pick up their pizza and sandwiches and enjoy the flick. If they aren't showing a movie, you can stroll about 30 ft to the back of Isabella's and watch them play Bocce Ball. Great fun and great food! What's not to like?

After scouring the highway for a Waffle House, dim sum, or other tasty treats on our way up to Baltimore, we realized that the highway exit signs weren't going to get us very far. We made our way into Baltimore, headed for the ridiculously huge and sweet delights provided by Vaccaro's, only to find a huge line. Our hungry bellies rumbled a bit, urging us to find food elsewhere. We wandered a bit through Little Italy, and after checking out the pricey menu at Caesar's Den (am I the only who thinks that sounds like a male strip club?!), we found Isabella's. Inside there was a small table that was already filled by some local teenagers... that was the extent of inside seating. This place is obviously carry-out focused, as a couple of people came in while we were waiting to pick up their pies. The menu options looked great and we had a hard time deciding until the cashier interjected, asking us if we wanted to take one of their canceled orders for a discounted price. They were closing so the pizza would have gone to waste. We're not a picky crew and the pizza was still in the oven, so we managed to get a large for only $12. We only had to wait a few minutes and during that time we got a chance to see a true Baltimore local: a bum ran in to the shop with no shirt on, then looked right at us, apologized profusely, and ran back out. He returned once he put his shirt on, continually apologizing. It was as if he didn't realize he was walking in to a pizza joint and thought it was totally kosher to be shirtless. Because they were closing we cozied up on a bench outside and scarfed down our pizza, watching Baltimorians walk by. The pizza was fantastic, and it was a great start to a perfect summer night.

The quality has gone downhill. We got the usual sandwich and the bread was so hard, especially towards the end that it was not edible. Very disappointed and I hope it was an off day.

Fantastic! We were visiting a friend in Baltimore and he took us there for lunch and I couldn't have asked for anything better! The owner was really nice and told us which sandwiches were really popular/had won awards and offered to answer any questions we had. My boyfriend ended up ordering the meatball sub which he couldn't stop raving about, and I got the Italian Cold Cut which was amazing :-) Next time I'm back in Baltimore, definitely taking a side trip back here, totally worth it!

While in town, Yelp led me to this place. At the suggestion of the guy taking my order I got the DaPatro (sausage, peppers, onions). The peppers were so deliciously soft that they seemed to just melt and become part of the cheese and tomato sauce. It's also in the quaint 'Little Italy' neighborhood.

Went there today for a late lunch & had a great time. The Lombardi pizza was great and the owner was very entertaining. The interior is extremely small so be prepared to wait or take it to go.

Isabella's perfectly embodies the small city neighborhood restaurant. The food is fantastic (and fast!) and the Italian deli offers even more delights. When you go be sure to get a Cannoli, theirs are among the best that I've ever had.

  • Amy R.

Loved it. The sandwiches were fresh, big (even the small), and the bread was delicious. The hubby got the chicken parm, while I got the verde. I wasn't excited about the veggie options, but somehow it all came together in a super-tasty format. Quick and friendly service, and somehow we thought ahead and got some bread and dough to go. Just wish we'd gotten more for the freezer as the pizza we made was the best at-home try ever...

So I've been here 3 times now and everything I've ordered has been amazing! This is a pizza/sub type place. The pizza is seriously good, I had the Margherita (Homemade mozzarella, Tomatoe slices and Fresh basil) and I'm pretty sure that is the best pizza I've ever had. The Cold Cuts here are also amazing. And of course you can't leave without having a cannoli : ) Prices range from $7.00 - $9.00 for subs and salads (large portions), Pizza's were around $13.00 for a large. Well worth it! Its a small hole in the wall type place with not a lot of seating. The owner and staff are super friendly!

I'm so excited to find a new place for pizza! This place in Little Italy is small, but packed with great sandwich and pizza options. The staff is super friendly. The counter is stuffed with sausages, salads and desserts. The margherita pizza was a delight. Thin, crispy, bubbling cheese and fresh basil. I've been back twice! And, this from a girl who actually doesn't care for Little Italy.

Great quality for a small limited service deli / pizzeria. Authentic products. We had the margarita pizza, fast & very tasty.

  • Charles R.

The pizza was okay but I really like their sandwiches. The place is usually busy with people coming in and out ordering their pizzas and sandwiches. If you decide to sit inside with one of the 6-8 seats inside be sure to pick up one of their books on sharks or dinosaurs by the window while you wait for your food. They have the best italian sandwiches in Baltimore (some say the world) and the service for being a pizza and sub shop is very warm and hospitable.

  • Kathy H.

Isabella's is one of my favorite restaurants in Baltimore. They have a wide variety of delicious sandwiches. Each one that I try is better than the last. The restaurant is authentic Italian and they only use the best ingredients. Their pizza is amazing too. They catered an event for the company I work for and everyone was very impressed with the quality of the food. It's one of the first restaurants that I recommend to people when they come to Baltimore.

This pizza is so very good! My other half is from new jersey and is a total pizza snob and even he raves about this place. The crust- authentic thin crust is to die for! You can buy dough here and make your own if you like but the best is half cooked, take it home and indulge. We travel a long way for this pizza but it is worth it. Oh yes, the owner and the staff are just wonderful. 5 stars for Isabella's- I'm on my way there right now!

Not bad. Had a prosciutto pizza, and on a different occasion, an Italian cold cut sub here. For reference, I'd sometimes get a tomato, garlic and prosciutto pizza at Vace in Cleveland Park (DC) and it would be phenomenal. This one, not so much. The cold cut sub was very average. As an Italian deli this doesn't compare to DiPasquale's, Mastellano's, Trinacria, etc. but it is located within easy walking distance of a lot of people. As a pizza restaurant, well, I think they're a little bit above average. I'll try them again. By the way, this is about as informal dining as it gets. We weren't there terribly late but we had people cleaning around us to close up (and I think somebody was smoking :))

Got plain cheese pizza at the lunch hour rush. It was ready in less than the fifteen minutes I was told to expect. The brick oven char was so fantastic I actually are the crust. Very well seasoned sauce and delicious cheese. But oh the black char on the crust. Also decent prices and interesting topping combos available. Seating is very limited so plan to wait or take out.

  • Ricardo R.

Good pizza, don't get me wrong but the shop (I really wouldn't call it a restaurant) itself is a little meh. I assume it's great for college students and other people on the go, but it's not great for families at all as some other reviewers suggested. Only about three tables and no servers. Having said that, I must say that the pizza was really good and was served fast and hot!

  • Michelle B.

Friendly staff, consistently delicious pizza, and reasonable prices? I'm sold on Isabella's. It's definitely the best pizza I've had in Baltimore so far. The crust is thin and crispy but doesn't crumble under the weight of the toppings, the sauce has a nice bite to it, and they don't skimp on toppings. Plus it always comes out quickly so I've never had to stand around awkwardly for too long while waiting for my food to come out. Parking is slightly annoying and they only have a couple of tables inside so you'll probably have to plan on take away. But these are minor inconveniences for what is always a worthwhile trip. Their deli also looks amazing and if I ate meat and cheese I would definitely stock up at Isabella's. Alas...

One of the first places we tried for Sunday lunch in Baltimore and still our very, very favorite. You can tell they have their own brick oven by the quality of the bread and the pizza crust; love both the subs (particularly the Serafina) and their pizzas.

  • John W.

Great quality, quick service, fresh ingredients, and always consistent. Doesn't get much better than this for true Italian style pizza. One of my favorite restaurants in Baltimore. Hardly any space to dine in so this is definitely a carry-out spot.

  • Amanda P.

This is one of my favorite restaurants. Their pizza is the best I've ever had. I've tried the meat lovers, white pizza, cheese, and pepperoni. I've also had their caprese salad, which was fresh and amazing. Isabella's also sells imported sauces and pasta from Italy along with some other foods. This place is very small, so don't plan on bringing a large crowd or dining in around lunch time.

  • Robby B.

Unreal. The sandwiches here are the best I've had in Baltimore city. Just slightly ahead of some of my favorites like Trinaccria and DePasquale's. The Isabella is a must try. Check this place out!

Delish Delish Delish! Nothing I get from this place is awful. The moment you step in the smells just envelope your nose. Try the italian cold cut with peppers. It also includes a little mini mart for all your Italian spice needs.

Yummy! Having been to several places in Little Italy, I'd just kind of come to assume that all of the restaurants were set up pretty much the same.....dark interior, semi-formal seating, and wait staff. So imagine my surprise when I was out walking and came across Isabella's, went inside and saw that it's really a true honest for goodness Italian deli! While I didn't have the pizza, from what I saw of others, it looked and smelled yummy (mark that down to try on my next visit). But I got the Sonny, which is a cold sandwich with fresh mozzarella and tomatoes....delicious! My friend got another sandwich (can't remember the name), but it was some kind of sausage sub that he said was very good. I love the deli counter up front with all of the fresh olives, peppers, meats, and cheeses, not to mention the shelf by the door with various dry and canned goods (pastas, sauces, etc), and even bottles of seltzer in case you get a little indigestion after eating all that great food! My ONLY issue is that the seating is VERY limited, I think there was only 3 tables in the whole place, and 2 of those only seat 2 people. And those were tucked into a corner against the wall, and when anyone goes to the cash register, they're standing with their rear in your face while you're eating. Talk about getting to know your neighbors! But given the small size of the place, I don't really know what other options they could offer......although putting those small tables outside would be nice on a pretty day!

Really really good pizza. We ordered carryout and got the margherita pizza and it was delicious! The crust was light and not too heavy. It was loaded with fresh mozz. I am looking forward to trying other pizzas here.

This is one of those times where I hesitate to write a blatantly honest review because if I share how I really feel about this Little Italian gem, it might become....god forbid...too popular. I'm not a fan of waiting in line...though, I would for this joint...it's that good. I am of the belief that the smaller, blink and you miss it type places are some of the best around and Isabella's is no exception. The service is just as one might expect from a small Italian deli...relaxed, yet friendly and if you frequent it often enough, you feel like a regular and are recognized as one by the staff. I like that...I like it a lot....it speaks to my Italian side and conjures a fierce loyalty. As far as the actual space, other reviewers have mentioned how small it is....this is true, but I don't necessarily see it as a negative and I've never had an issue getting a table. That said, what Isabella's does lack in size, it makes up for in quality. The food here is incredible; it's fresh, authentic and not at all, fussy. I'm a creature of habit, so the "Sonny", basically Caprese on a fresh hoagie, is what I get every single time; mozzarella, basil and tomato on bread which I work over with balsamic and olive oil. *drool* However, just because I'm Sonny faithful, does not mean my eyes have never wandered to other sandwiches or affixed onto a piping hot pizza making its way to fill someone's belly. I imagine everything here is good; you really can't go wrong. So...go forth and patronize this Little local so they do well and are always in business. My suggestion might be laced with pure stomach growling selfishness, but it also comes from a place of wanting good people, who run a good business to prosper and keep doing what they do best. Feeding me ;) Mangia Bene!

The other night I called Isabella's at 8:42pm asking if it was too late to pick up some pizza. The guy said no, and I managed to roll my sorry ass down there (and parked IN THE INTERSECTION, because thanks, Little Italy, for nothing) and got there just before 9pm. Just one dude in there and clearly he'd gone through all the other labors of closing the shop. I got my pizza and he locked the door literally on my tail as I walked out. This after I gave him a $5 tip. Now, looking over the other reviews here, it's worth confirming that the employees are dicks. They're unsmiling and there is no small talk. They could care less and they are too cool for you. But I'd much rather get incredible pizza from a dick when I call that close to closing time, than a friendly "sorry, we're closed, try again tomorrow thank you!". Also yes, no table space. The two or three tables are almost always occupied. So, do not bring your five annoying kids here and expect Applebees-specification service - sippycups and crayons and politeness. You'll just ruin it for the rest of us!

(08/02/2013) Had Isabella's pizzas delivered for a work party because it was the honorees favorite. Good chewy, very thin crust, lots of char. Pizzas had plenty of toppings, were very cheesy; had a very thin smear of sauce, not sweet. We don't usually frequent the restaurants in Little Italy, find most of them to be mediocre red sauce houses. Isabella's is a place we'd def will seek out again.

Fantastic Italian Deli. I ordered the Greco Pizza and it came fresh out of the oven and was absolutely delicious. Overall a great place for a quick, inexpensive, great tasting meal.

Overall: Jam-packed studio-like restaurant that functions as both pizza parlor and deli counter. Service is off-on, but these spots thrive on quality, which this has in flashes. _______________________________ Ambience: (1/5). Three tables seat ten next to industrial pipes, extremely cramped between the growing Sunday lunch line, din of two families, chip racks, and soda coolers. The door can cool or heat the whole place, so sit closer to the ovens if you want warmth. _______________________________ Service: (2/5). Friendly albeit gruff, amazingly fast-prep, and good suggestions as far as cafeteria service goes. A bit odd in exchanges, more direction required on procedures like when to pay and how to take food to-go. _______________________________ Drinks: (3/5). Small variety of sodas in the corner, including Pellegrino. _______________________________ Food: (3/5). Pizzas are decent, but first site reveals this isn't Neapolitan: too cheesy, greasy. The Da Patro is too thick and hearty, sausage is too plain and standard, fennel and all. The sauce is burnt, sweet, caked on the starchy corn-meal crust. The Stuarto is too greasy, the prosciutto cooked and sweating, the delicate fatty flavor lost amidst the overuse of cheese. They are more complete than Joe Squared but fall below Iggie's best. Doesn't approach Matthew's, Verde, or Hersh's.

Just finished my first meal at Isabella's. Best pizza I have had in a long time. I came in around 7pm on a Friday night, other than myself there was one other party of 5 that left within the first few minutes; other than that I had the place to myself. Which isn't saying a hole lot because they only have 3 tables. I got the King Richard 10", it was a brick wood fired pizza with Italian sausage, ham, house made meat balls and pepperoni for $9.50. Great price for what you get, and a great pizza. Would definitely recommend, and come back.

Out of this world brick oven pizza for a SCREAMING deal in Baltimore! This is a tiny delicatessen place that has three tables in the store. They also sell Italian dry goods as well. We ordered the Margarita Pizza and the meat pizza...whose name I don't recall. OH MY GOODNESS! The crust was AMAZING melt in your mouth goodness!!!! On the tables they have a container that was 50/50 oil and balsamic vinegar with a switch you could adjust for the amount if oil and vinegar ratio you wanted. Then you used a push pump to pout it on you plate or pizza. GENIUS idea!!!!

REALLY! Almost 5 stars... I didn't have any food. It was a dump inside! Tables old dingy. next To garbage can had food stains all over the wall. There are 4 tables in the place. It's just OLD LOOKING AND DIRTY. I left... Please comment if you agree.

AWESOME. PIZZA! Yes, this is some of the best pizza in Baltimore. Great crust, great toppings! Loved the King Richard, Bianchi, Lombardi, and almost every other one I've tried, with the exception of one, where the sausage was a little tarter than I would have liked. Good service, no pretense, no posing! Better than Joe Squared and Birrotecca's pizza, and better topping to crust ratio than Iggies.

Delicious pizza in the heart of little Italy! I ordered the Lombardi and it was absolutely delicious! That first bite when it comes out hot from the wood oven is crazy good. The dough is soft and has that little hint of sweetness to it that makes a non-crust lover like me eat all the crust! The sandwiches come in a sub form, and they have a huge variety to choose from. Only has about 10 seats so we were lucky to snag one, but saw many people come in to pick up an order to go.

I'm from New York, and have had much much better pizza. But I will judge this place ageist other Baltimore pizza and it stacks up very well. They have a good old fashion brick oven and an okay meat ball sub.

  • Ed W.

I recommend the Marcus or the Italian Cold Cut Sub for lunch. The ICC is a little different, but in a good way. What I love most about this place though is the pepper shooters - sweet peppers stuff with prosciutto and provolone - they are little bites of heaven! Never a long wait and excellent customer service.

Tried this place last weekend after reading some really good reviews. I don't ever eat pizza locally. When I eat pizza, it's usually one place and one place only, Lombardi's NYC. My buddy and I split the Margarita. It was decent. A few steps above what you would find at a chain pizzeria but the cheese was standard, the tomato's were lackluster probably because they're not in season. The best part was the crust, it was slightly sweet, soft and crunchy. Small place, but it was dead in there so seating wasn't an issue. I think for anyone who hasn't experienced a high quality NYC or Chicago pizza, this is a decent place to get a pie but for me, the bar in my mind is set pretty high. I'll definitely give it another shot in the summer when everything should be more in season and a little more robust.

I spent the weekend in Baltimore for a mini-getaway last weekend, and found this place while doing my restaurant research on Yelp before the trip. I'm glad I did because it's a great spot! They have some packaged Italian foods for sale, as well as prepared salads, meatballs, and marinated veggies. They also have a wide variety of meats and cheeses for sale by the pound. The space is tiny - it fits just 3 or 4 small tables - so don't go expecting to be able to stay there to eat. We were lucky and got a table, but several people came in after we did and took their meals to go. The small size adds to its charm, though. The menu is extensive, and it's hard to choose what to get because everything sounds so good! We decided to go halfsies on two sandwiches - the zinger and the verde. The zinger (a hot sub with chicken with pepper cheese, honey mustard, hot peppers, roasted red peppers and lettuce) was excellent. I loved the hot peppers combined with the sweet honey mustard. The chicken was super tender and the bread was the perfect consistency. The verde (a cold veggie sub with roasted peppers, mushrooms, lettuce, olive spread, eggplant, artichokes, and sharp provolone) was good, but would have been better served hot. I'm usually not a fan of olives on or in any other food (I like them on their own), because they usually overpower all the other flavors, but this olive spread was mild and delicious, and a great complement to the other veggies. The provolone was salty and delicious. As I said, though, the sandwich would have been better served warm. We had leftovers of both sandwiches, so I heated up the rest of the verde and it was much better that way (even though it wasn't bad to begin with!). I would definitely return to Isabella's next time I'm in Baltimore, and next time I want to try the pizza - it looked and smelled amazing!

The young kids they have working here are rude and made us feel as if we were a inconvenience to them- sadly we walked out and never got to enjoy the food! It's amazing how employees make it or break it for restaurants!

Never the judge or a juror, just a foodie. I am from NY home of good Italians( I'm a black woman) as well as stellar Italian food, though I didn't feel like I was at home, this was good......I usually get something simple on my first visit to a popular place considering, if the do the simple things wrong , they will make the real challenging things cry....so I ordered the meatball sub. A good meatball sub has levels, that each have to meet a certain standard, or it's all going wrong.....bread, sauce(or gravy), the flavor of the ball itself, and portions bread to cheese to sauce to meat ratio.....this sandwich wasn't an experiment...(.let me try to remember how my YaYa used to do it) it was pretty good, and filling, without too much filler in the meatball, sauce tasted smooth not bitter, well seasoned, meatbalsl were a good size not small, but fit in the bread,to the ends, enough cheese to taste, not overwhelm......like Schwartzenagger ? with the accent and everything....I'll be back.

Has to be the best pizza in Baltimore. The small space and location make it a a "hole in the wall" restaurant, but it's well worth it! My favorite is the pizza with prosciutto, ( Stratto ). It's amazing and they slice the prosciutto to order! Really authentic and actual Italian employes.

If you are near Baltimore area, you need to go try this place. You walk in and they make you feel very comfortable. They treat you like you belong there and really take care of you. We ordered the Pizza Bianca. It was AMAZING! Probably the best pizza I have had in a while. We ordered the pizza and he just us to grab some drinks and have a seat while they cooked it. We paid for everything after the pizza was cooked and out. I would recommend this place to everyone. Unfortunately we were only driving through, otherwise I would be a regular. There are only a couple tables inside if you want to eat there. We didn't have a problem getting a seat because most people were taking their food to go.

We choose Isabella's to cater our office holiday part. We ordered two different kinds of salads (mixed greens and Caesar), an antipasto tray, an assortment of Italian sandwiches, a dish of baked ziti, and an assortment of cookies and canolis. The catering order was for 15 people and ended up being very affordable. Every dish was very fresh and pretty authentic. The meats used in the sandwiches were nicely cured and very tasty. Some of the sandwiches had a nice green olive tapenade on them, which paired perfectly. All the sandwiches were also on nice crusty Italian bread as well. The plate of antipasto featured an assortment of marinated vegetables, with some prosciutto, and fresh briny olives. The ziti was a good complement to all the other cold dishes we had ordered. The pasta wasn't overcooked and the sauce had a nice tomato, creamy flavor. Everyone at my office loved the food. We will definitely use Isabella's for other office related functions.

We didn't have the pizzza, so based on the reviews It's likely we missed out on what makes this place so good. We did have the subs, but I've had much much better. 4 subs X $9 plus drinks, chips and a small tip and this became an expensive lunch for the kids and me. (about $50) ....And I found the counter help entirely unfriendly. It was about as much interaction as using a vending machine. (should have went to Amicci's.) avoid.

Awesome little place. I got an Italian sandwich and a cheese pizza, enough food for two days for under $. Pizza was great; though the sauce was a bit on the sweet side for my taste, great crust and perfectly cooked. The Italian sub was on wonderful chewy fresh Italian bread piled high with yummy premium meats. It's counter service and a small place, a great find in the lovely Little Italy neighborhood.

The most delicious and best valued pizza ever!!! Their menu consists of pizzas, sandwiches, and deli salads Service: The service was very prompt- we waited only 15 minutes for our pizza Food: Half Prosciutto and Half Sausage - $13.99 for a 14 inch pizza The pizza was served really hot- you can definitely see the cheese still sizzling from the heat. The pizza was extremely good and super cheesy. The crust was thin and had a really nice crisp. The cheese and toppings was very generous too. The only thing I would have to add is that I wish I had order more vegetables to balance all the meat. Overall, EXCELLENT pizza. Overall: They definitely need to expand this restaurant, 4 tables does not cater to all the customers!

This place was awesome. Went in at around 130 and bought a pepperoni pizza for myself and a chicken Parmesan for my girl. The pizza was delicious the perfect amount of sauce, cheese overflowing and not skimping on the pepperoni. I normally don't eat crust but the pizza was so light and delicious that I couldn't help myself. My girl loved her sandwich as well. Get there before or after the rush because they have limited seating, other than that pretty awesome.

Rude, rude, rude! Stopped for some pizza thirty minutes before closing and encountered a VERY rude female worker last Monday night. She was already counting her cash drawer and couldn't be bothered taking our order. We got the impression that she wished we would just leave. Pizza was very good, but doubt we will be back due to this employees' customer service.

I can say I honestly enjoyed lunch today. I had a meatball sub...yummy! The only downfall is I'm trying to lose weight for my wedding...but that's my problem...nothing to do with Isabella's..LOL! I will be visiting them again...just after my wedding :-)

A little gem of a restaurant. Great pizza and sandwiches. Fresh ingredients and authentic Italian options. Savory pizza sauce with good brick oven crust. I'm on a forever mission for the best pizza in Baltimore. This is at the top of the list! Wish they had more seating ... don't count on eating in. Being that it is located in Little Italy only makes it better for me. Fits in nicely to the neighborhood and makes for a fun outing (Vaccaro's for dessert...). Some reviewers complained about the staff not being friendly. I have not experienced this -- sometimes a little dull but not rude. Definitely check it out!

After going to another closed sandwich shop in the area, some shop owners recommended this place for a sandwich. Their SCOOCH sandwich was delicious!!!! Recommended by the guys behind the counter (couldn't decide between the smooch and the meatball sub), we went with their specialty. The bread was soft and just toasted right, and the filling was sooooo good- a perfect blend of 3 meats (not too thick, not too thin), with gouda cheese, roasted peppers, and lettuce smeared with balsamic dressing, served warm and toasty- SOO GOOD!! TRY THIS!!

Delicious pizza and it was prepared quickly. Nice crispy crust. Unfortunately, the space is really tight, but every time I've been I've been able to squeeze between the other table and the drink fridge. A great place for takeout, especially for the summer Friday night film festival!

Possibly the best i've ever had! Maybe even better than La Zingara in Windsor Ont. I cant remember the names, but we had the sub with ham and rosemary, the 4 meat pizza and the pizza with ripini and sopressata [about $50 total with 3 drinks]. Each of the 3 were outstanding, the ripini and sopressata was out of this world. I love they make their own cheese. Not a lot of seats, but that gave it a very snug, warm and old world feel. Not lisenced, unfortunately. Still, I will definitely visit ever time I go to B'more.

We were told to go to Isabella's by 3 ladies we asked in Little Italy, Baltimore. We were not disappointed. With only 6 tables we were lucky to get a seat. Most of their business is take away. This was one of the best pizza's i have ever tasted. Freshly made, cooked in a pizza oven, with fresh homemade mozzarella. The mixed green salad and garden pizza were enough to share for lunch. Very friendly fast service Will return on next visit to Baltimore

Great find in Little Italy! This place has a great selection of delicious hot/cold subs, salads and pizzas for a great price. I have tried half dozen of their sandwiches and am wowed every time. This past Friday was the first time I tried their pizza and it was very delicious. I can't wait to try more. If you want something different and delicious this is the spot to go!

I visited the inner harbor today and chose this place for lunch, based on the great yelp reviews. I had the margherita pizza. It was great! The ingredients tasted very fresh. This place is very affordable too. $9 for a 10 inch margherita and $14 for a $14 inch. I'm only docking one star for atmosphere. Tiny place with just three tables and it took me a minute to get used to the bad smell.

After eating there, I was really surprised this restaurant was so highly rated here on Yelp. The folks at Isabelle are definitely friendly, laid back and helpful. The problem was the pizzas. We have gotten two pizzas from Isabella's. Both were burned black on 2 and 3 of the eight slices respectively. On the slices that were burned we ate a few bites from the tip and had to throw throw the rest of the slice away sadly. For the pieces that weren't burned and we could eat, there just wasn't anything special. It was a pretty standard thin crust pizza that wasn't bad, but I ate pieces because I was hungry not because they tasted good and I wanted more. I don't think we will order from Isabella's again. It's too bad because once in awhile, I would love to be able to order and eat a good pizza, but there are plenty of other types of Italian food in Little Italy.

I quickly stopped by Isabella's today by chance, since i saw the raving reviews. I ordered a cheese steak americano and their King Richard Pizza to go. I finished half of the cheese steak and it was delicious very tender rib eye meat they used. I had a couple of slices of the King Richard pizza it was alright, but i guess in recent time when i look at pizza in baltimore, i compare it Hersh's. Both pizza styles are neopolitan, but i prefer by far Hersh's. The sandwich was excellent, in subsequent visits i will try their signature sandwich and meatballs. The cheese steak and pizza are huge sizes.

Perfect way to end my mini vacation weekend! will definitely be returning.

A good choice for sandwiches in the little italy area. We ordered a porchetta sandwich which was pretty good even eating it hours later. It would have been more tasty had we eaten it immediately after it was toasted. The caesar salad was standard. The Brick oven pizza was good.

We slid inside this unassuming corner store out of the blazing heat last week after watching a neighborhood game of bocce ball next door. We ordered 2 individual vegetarian pizzas and a vegetarian antipasti platter. Since Isabella's doesn't have a liquor license, the staffers sent us to a local wine bar to pick up our own drinks to bring back-- we purchased Italian beer. When we returned, our pizzas were ready and still hot. Everything was FANTASTIC. Large portions, delicious, and reasonably priced.

Delicious pizza. We got there around 6pm and had our pizzas fresh and ready within six or seven minutes. It smelled and looked so amazing that I burned the skin off my poor upper lip because I couldn't wait for the damned thing to cool off! It's still healing and it's been three days, haha. Careful with the HOT pizza. The pizza dough is fresh and fluffy, pillowy yet also crusty. They make their own mozarella fresh every day and you can taste it. I had the Margherita and my honey had the King Richard-- which is totally a man's meat delight. Excellent. Super duper good. We had lots of leftovers and the pizza even tasted great cold right out of the fridge. This is a small, down-home pizza and subs joint. They also carry wonderful deli meats and fresh cheeses. I highly recommend it.

My quest for Baltimore's best pizza and cheesesteak has taken me to this wonderful Italian deli on High St in Little Italy. The pizza, cooked in a wood fired oven, was thin and crisp. The sauce and toppings first rate. We also tried their cheesesteak. Their roll, neither Philly or Baltimore style, was fresh and the crust provided an nice, unexpected amount of bite. The salad on the cheesesteak, i.e., the lettuce and tomato, looked delightfully fresh picked. We wolfed ours right down they were so delicious, and wound up taking half the pizza home. (Still good cold) The place has a very small dining area, three tables that sit no more than four. Outdoor tables when the weather permits adds a few more seats. Busier at lunch than dinner. The deli case offers all sorts of good smelling Italian delicacies. They even sell imported Italian type Bromo Seltzer if you get heart burn. So just go already.

Baltimore's best NY style pizza joint! My fav is their Garden Pizza with its grilled eggplant and artichokes. The marinated mushrooms on top give it a nice zing! The Stuarto Pizza was so so but saved by Isabella's excellent crust/sauce/cheese. Best to call ahead and pick up given its limited seating. Parking is tight in the area with the many neighboring restaurant valet spots. Wish I could have tried their sandwiches and Italian specialty items to take home!

Go, go now!

The Isabella sandwich is unbelievable. It's the only thing I've had besides getting some olives to go and I bought my dad a crazy good bottle of olive oil. The owner is very knowledgable and will talk your ear off. No room to eat inside so take it out. Really cute girls make your food by the way.

I came back the next day and tried the Caprese salad with the homemade Mozzarella -- it was the bomb! I also recommend their amazing espresso.

Great place to stop in and pick up a pizza or sandwich. King Richard pizza or meatball sub....always tasty!

  • Gene L.

We were visiting baltimore for the first time and decided to visit Isabella for their Pizza based on yelp reviews. We had their most popular Margherita pie (even the owner recommended it) and Da Patro Margherita - the ingredients were fresh but we felt that it lacked little salt. We sprinkle small amount of salt and it tasted better. Da Patro - Everything was spot on: Awesomeness!

A must stop place for great pizza and Italian type sandwiches! We had a pepperoni pizza, it was excellent. The pizza dough was delicious and the flavored of the sauce was outstanding. We also had a sandwich called Sonny, normally cole but he was nice enough to toast it for me. It had handmade mozzarella, tomatoes, and prosciutto. This is more of a takeout place although they do have 3 tables for eating in which is where we sat. I would recommended this place, great pizza place on a small block in Little Italy section of Baltimore.

The season is over now, but next summer, if you're going to the Friday night films in Little Italy, join everyone else, support a local business and get a pizza and salad from Isabella's for dinner al fresco in the Ciao Bella parking lot before the movie. Otherwise? You should probably get your pizza elsewhere, unless you like dry, blackened crust, and skimpy cheese. Besides that, the toppings on our margherita pizza and Greek salad were fresh and delicious. That cheese on the salad - oh man I just wanted to leave the greens and veggies and eat just the cheese! It's definitely not my favorite pizza, but it's not bad, and it is pretty quick and convenient. I'll try it again if we go to another Little Italy film next summer, but I'm not clamoring to go back anytime soon.

Very good pizza! It reminds me of the pizza in Rome. We ordered three to split among 7 people, and it was really great to try a variety while watching Casablanca at Little Italy's movie night (conveniently across the street from Isabella's). We got the Stuarto (with PROSCUITTO - need I say more), the Pizza Bianca, and the Garden Pizza. I really liked the Pizza Bianca, because it had really flavorful feta cheese. Would definitely come again to try the Greco (feta AND olives). I would say that the price is right, especially considering the quality. Isabella's did not disappoint.

Be sure to know that the brick oven is not just for pizza, they put all sorts of sandwiches in there. This Little Italy family owned hot spot has been on my list for MONTHS and I finally stopped in for lunch. They were crowded, but somehow the guy behind the counter knew exactly who walked in when and helped everyone in the right order, and profusely apologized with some pasta salad if somehow he made a mistake. The folks here make you feel right at home the moment you walk in. I didn't do any of the picking, I went with a regular and let him pick his favorite off the menu. I never like to pick anyway. We went with the King Richard, basically your meat lovers: meatballs, sausage, pepperoni and ham, with light tomato sauce on fresh house made dough. I wish i had a better picture of the pizza, but I was too hungry to focus. These guy's meatballs are outrageous. I wanted to get one on the side, but we had too much food to begin with. The crust is crisp, but still a soft doughy center - with a few char marks from being in the oven. There was so much meat on this pizza, but it wasn't greasy or dripping with oil - can anyone explain that to me? They top everything with your classic mozz. I suggest this place for lunch any day. They are fast, taking less time to make your food than you take to deciding from the menu.

Subs and brick oven pizza! Isabella's is great for a good solid lunch. There may be a line and a wait as they get fairly busy. The pizzas are cooked to perfection and are fairly affordable at approximately ten dollars for a ten inch. The dough is perfect and the toppings are fresh and high quality. The subs are good quality, but are sometimes soggy. I expect my subs to be warm and toasted.

We came for the pizza and stayed for the sandwiches. Their pizzas are great, large and flavorful. But their sandwiches! OMG! Best Italian sandwich I've ever had! The porchetta was amazing. The combination of their scrumptious bread and the savory meats was perfection. Isabella is somewhat of a hole-in-the wall with just awesome, unpretentious food served by real cool people.

I live in New York City and I've never had pizza as perfect and delicious as that of Isabella. We ordered a Saraceno pie and boy, was it life changing. The crust was soft and bready! Great for dipping in some marinara sauce afterwards. The Soppressata and Capicollo were tasty Italian meats, and the Feta cheese and Garlic sauce were magical complements. Don't be fooled by the other nicely constructed Italian restaurants nearby! Isabella might look like a deli, but it surely wouldn't disappoint! Small spot, but excellent quality of food! I would recommend carrying out if you have a big group.

When we went there, a couple visiting from Italy was eating pizza there with big smiles on their faces, conversing with the owner in Italian. If its good enough for them its good enough for me. Seriously though, we got the margarita pizza and some pepper shooters. The pizza was great, and so were the peppers. Also- they sell a variety of Italian novelties at the store, including Torone!

Why eat at a chain restaurant when u have amazing chives like this in town. Came here in a Monday at 3:30 pm and not a soul in sight they said I came at the perfect time ... The meatball sandwich was worth the trip from SFO I love to support little places like this especially when food is so good!

Anybody say PIZZA. Some of the BEST pizza you will eat while in Baltimore. It's in the outer fringes of Baltimore's Little Italy. Cracker thin crust, very savory paired with amazing ingredients and wonderful service. I try to stop here every time i'm in the neighborhood. Good beer selection and within walking distance to the Baltimore's Inner harbor.

Uhh, I hate to be "that one" to poop on the 4-5 star party but the pizza here is decent. Maybe a little above average but not 5 star worthy. The pizza didn't have as much sauce; was quite lacking. The crust wasn't as crispy as I would have liked as well. Come out to SF if you get a chance. No disrespect to his place but I've had better.

VERY small inside. Maybe three or four tables. We planned to eat at Isabella's before the Oriel's game last Saturday, but had no luck. We were able to walk in, order our cheese pizza, and walk out with it about five minutes later. That brick oven doesn't mess around. Our hotel was on the edge of Little Italy, so the walk back was only five minutes and our pizza was still hot we arrived back to our room. The pizza was extremely good. Some of the pieces were a little nuked on the bottom, but the pieces that weren't burnt were so good that I forgot about the scorched pieces.

Don't be fooled by the small size and simple decor. This place has FANTASTIC sandwiches. My wife and I each got a small sandwich to go. She got the Aria (chicken pesto) and I got the Verde (veggie) Wrapped up on the outside they don't look like much. But open them up and wow! Both sandwiches looked carefully made with high quality bread, spreads, and sharp cheeses. We would recommend both!

Picked up a pie from here for a lovely dinner on our deck this weekend and was happy with the quick service (pick-up in 15 min). We ordered the large Vinni which ran $16 and had chicken and hot peppers. The crust was lovely, had a nice chewy texture and a light char on the bottom that comes with a brick oven. Maybe a tad stingy on the toppings (but I prefer my pizza loaded up!). The sauce had a nice sweetness to it. Unfortunately we ate it once we got home so it had cooled down considerably.. next time I would love to eat it hot and fresh out of the oven! The actual store was a cute little establishment near Vacarros in Little Italy. It had a few tables if you want to sit in but it seemed to be primarily a carry-out location. They also were selling other prepared food items and dry goods such as candies and pasta. Will definitely be back when I'm having a pizza craving.

We stumbled upon this neighborhood gem and are so glad we did! It was voted best pizza and we could taste why! They only have a few tables so must people order food to go. We had a pizza but they offer salads, sandwiches, pastas and Classic Italian items. Definitely worth going to!

I came here for lunch with my aunt and just got a small pizza. It was delicious. Best pizza ive had by far! Not even exaggerating i am extremely impressed with how good it is!! I wish you guys would open a chain and come down to virginia!!

The pizza is as good as advertised. We took some napkins and plates and ate out on the curb--no room inside. Luckily an Italian festival was going on in the neighborhood, so we fit right in with everyone else--except our pizza was better than theirs!

From Pittsburgh came here after immediately following awful experience at Sabatino's down the street. Not sure if the guy working was the owner: very welcoming very nice treated us so well. Explained the awful experience at Sabatinos and we took fresh mozzarella home made pizza and Italian coffee back to Pittsburgh with us. Well worth it. You will not be disappointed when you go. It's amazing and done the way pizza is supposed to be in a brick oven with fresh ingredients with passion and care. Got the garden pizza , with artichoke eggplant and mushrooms. Purely amazing . Also a couple had the King Arthur and said it was amazing as well. I don't think you could leave this place disappointed. When you conduct your business the right way with good fresh ingredients and produce good food and good service success is just inevitable . Impressed definitely one of the gems in Baltimore: owner said to stop back in next time we are in town for more hints of other gems & places to stay away from. Highly recommended great vibe great decor great all around.

There's really nothing I can say that hasn't already been said in the other 200+ reviews, so let me say this. If you're in Baltimore and you didn't eat here, you're an idiot. It's freakin' delicious.

Grade A+ If you're in Baltimore and require a sandwich, Isabella's should be your first stop. This is among the best Italian sandwich joints I've encountered outside of New York, and is the best in Baltimore by some distance. I can also vouch for the sides, especially the caprese. Little Italy is hit or miss, but this humble (and reasonably priced) deli is its crown jewel.

Maybe 2.5 stars... The staff was quite rude and unfriendly. Pizza was cooked very very well, light and crusty crust. However, nothing special and not worth the price. Tried the margharita and the pancetta pizza 10"

1st time here and I will be back... Maybe tomorrow! Lol there's a reason this place has over 230 reviews!!! The cheese tastes amazing and my pizza was hot so the cheese was all stringy!!! Yum! I got a 10 inch double pepperoni pizza and they have some very tasty pepperoni. I thought the crust would be super crispy and hard since it has that burnt look... But it wasn't! It was soft and fluffy! I'm very happy with his place! Good job!

Isabella's is definitely a establishment you should visit if you're a lover of brick pizza. Went here on a Saturday afternoon after strolling through the Harbor. It's located in Little Italy at the intersection of E. Pratt and S. High St. It's a very intimate setting as there are about 4 seating tables to dine-in. Prices are very low compared to the quality of food they serve. Oh yeah...forgot about the good stuff...the food! It's was amazing! I ordered the Bianca which had fresh mozzarella, Dolce Ricotta, Feta, Garlic and Herbs. Hands down one of the best white pizzas I've ever had. Yep...true story. Very flavorful and the crust was super thin and able to hold all the toppings with no problems. The brick oven gave it a super crisp texture and was very rustic. In terms of the service, it was nothing to brag home about. The staff greeted me at the door and said thank you after giving the pizza to me. Felt they could have been a little more personable, but that's just me. Definitely will be back to try to other pizzas!

A great place for a quick lunch or dinner. Isabella's located in middle of Little Italy. There is limited seating (three tables total, can accomodate about 10-15 people total), but all the times I've been there, there hasn't been any problem finding seats. The pizza is delicious, and I would definitely recommend that you eat it fresh. My go to's for pizza are the King Richard and Pizza Bianco. King Richard is great for meat lovers. Pizza Bianco has different types of cheese, and can be quite flavorful. The scooch is my personate favorite out of the sandwiches. TONS of meat, but above all, the sauce is delicious. Would highly recommend this place!

Delish little gem tucked away in little Italy. The pizza is amazing and the sandwiches are to die for. Worth the trip and the price is just right. The staff is super friendly and knowledgable about the menu. Love it here!!!

Ordered the Pizza Pavion (Soppressata and Rapini) plus a couple of items from the deli case: mushrooms and peppers. Polished it off with a mini cannoli. The pizza was perfect, good thin chewy crust from the brick oven and garlicky toppings/sauce with a good balance. The deli items were also very tasty with a little heat in them to make it interesting! The cannoli was a great way to top it all off - light, crunchy she'll and filling with chocolate pieces. Not too sweet and just the right size.

When my goddaughter said she wanted pizza for her birthday, I started looking for the best pizza in Baltimore. Yelp led me here, and I was not disappointed! +Neighborhood: charming, quiet and easy to find a parking spot. +Order: at the counter, but pay after you eat. Easy and convenient. +Crust: thin and beautifully blistered from the oven. +Toppings: fresh and high-quality. She had plain cheese and I went with a more adventurous white sauce and spicy sausage. Both were excellent. +Salad: the mixed greens was fantastic, especially the thinly sliced, crispy-chewy baked eggplant and juicy artichoke hearts. Dressing was perfectly seasoned, too. +Decor: a few shelves of Italian groceries made the place feel homey and casual, though they were pretty pricey ($8 for a can of tuna!) +Bonus: I loved the cruet on the table: you could dispense extra-virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar or a mix of both according to your proportional preferences. Prices were fair: $40 fed 2, but really 3 since my husband ate the other half of my pizza and salad for dinner.

Was at the aquarium and decided to walk over to little Italy for lunch. Happened across this place and poked my head in. It smelled so amazing I had to try a pie. Glad I did. It was fantastic pizza. Best I've had in Baltimore.

The owner has reached out to me about my experience at his establishment. He has gone above and beyond what I expected. He started he would be taking care of the issues that I raised and offered to compensate me for my trouble. He has been very professional and sincere about fixing the issues I raised. Like I said in my original review, out had nothing to do with the food. The food was very good.

While visiting Baltimore, I knew I had to try something from "Little Italy". I looked up the pizza places in "Little Italy" on Yelp to find one that looked like Italian pizza we are used to. This place was a great find! The pizza was excellent! The only downfall would be that it is "to go" only. There were no tables. It was just a small place to walk in and place your order. We then walked around "Little Italy" a few minutes while waiting for it. They did have a few shelves of Italian goodies you could purchase. We took the pizza back to our hotel and devoured it!

Stopped here for a quick bite before visiting the aquarium. Pizza was delicious and ready within 10 minutes. There were not enough seats in the restaurant, so we took our pizza to the Bocce court behind the restaurant and ate there.

YASSSS, THE SCOOCH. DO IT. Caesar salad was pretty standard but the scooch is excellent. Not the best sandwich *ever* but it's quite substantial in size and satisfying. Not a single complaint from me. Love the area, plenty of street parking, and I got out of my car right when the church bells were ringing which made my carryout experience all the more charming.

  • Jess C.

Love this place. Low key, unpretentious. Really nice staff. Absolutely loved my pizza bianca. Next time I'd get it without feta because it sort of interfered with the ricotta taste. That's just my opinion. But I will be back!

A cute and small pizzeria in Little Italy Baltimore. Good pizza choices, surprisingly good pizza, being that i am from Brooklyn and was in Italy before. I expected less, and got more! Pretty much the only change i would make to the pizza is that i would make the bottom of the crust a little crispier. But that's nitpicking. P. S. There are only about 10 seats total in this place. So dont come in large groups here to eat in. Take it to go then !

  • Charles C.

One of my favorite pizza places in Baltimore a must try. Sit down and eat it fresh. The place is very small only three tables but that's what makes it great. The guy behind the counter calls you by your name and it's located in little Italy.

After getting the recommendation from a friend I tried this place for their pizza. We tried a plain cheese and the white pizza and both were very good. I loved the cornmeal crust and enjoyed this gem. The restaurant is small so more of a takeout type restaurant but will definitely go back!

Among the best meatball subs I have ever had. If you go, try the peppers stuffed with cheese and prosciutto/salami. I think they are called 'pepper shooters' or something like that. Not a lot of seating, so you might want to think about carryout. Everything I have had from there has been amazing, but I've basically stopped ordering anything else because the meatball parm is so good.

Isabella's pizzas are very tasty. My BF moved to Baltimore almost 2 years ago and everytime I visit him, we get pizza from them once a week (and he also orders from them regularly). We like to get cheese and/or pepperoni - it's usually cooked to perfection (with a few exceptions where it was slightly overcooked), the cheese is delicious and there's plenty of sauce. It's really just a hole in the wall, though, with only a few tables, so it's better for take out. The only reason I'm taking off one star is because the service/friendliness of the staff varies a lot. It's not always the best. (Ah, and their mini cannoli are quite good too!)

The Italian sandwiches are delicious!!!! So good, that even though I've been here several times, I've never ventured off if the sandwich menu to try their pizza, which I hear is good, too. Scooch sandwich is my favorite! Tasty!!!!!!!

  • R U.

My favorite pizza spot in Baltimore thanks to their Sarceno pizza (italian meats, garlic, feta). Their crust is always nice, crispy, and also moist enough so that you can eat an entire pizza in one sitting without feeling dry or thirsty at the end (yes, it has happened before!). They're consistently delicious. Only downside is that they don't deliver, but they're easily worth the drive for pick-up.

  • Joseph T.

Best pizza I've ever had. Make time. no, seriously ... you can get medical care whenever, but you can't get a pie from Isabella's except for when they're open. We drove up from D.C. demolished a pie in their whatever-is-smaller-than-tiny dining room and got a pie to go and we were happy to sit in Baltimore's whore-able (that's not a typo) traffic all the way home with our car smelling like pizza perfection!

This is a really small restaurant, but it makes the best brick oven pizza around. I always goes out of my way to visit if I am anywhere nearby. There are only a couple of tables, and only one seats more than two or three, but the tables turn over quickly. There is a great variety of pizzas, and the staff is pretty friendly. Large variety of pizzas, and other italian sandwiches and meats.

Pizza or Panini...piZZA or paNiNi??? You will be faced with this delicious dilemma when you come to Isabella's but you can't go wrong with either. I suggest bringing a friend or two and getting both. I've been reviewing a lot of Bmore pizza places lately and Isabella's has moved to the top of the list for me. Here's why. The CRUST: crispy, never burnt nor soggy, just the right amount dough to do it's job The INGREDIENTS: you can't really go wrong with any of the pizza. I tried the Margarita, which in my opinion every pizza place should be judged upon. Also had the King Richard (essentially meat lover's), and Pizza Bianco. The quality of the fresh ingredients, from the sauces to the seasons, to the cheeses, needs to be highlighted. Every element of the pizza is what it should be and in the correct proportion. For a Baltimore pizza joint, it doesn't get better than this. What moves this place 5 stars worthy is actually the quality of the paninis, I've only tried the SCOOCH so far, but have heard great things about all their sandwiches, which are hefty in size but not in price. The same quality ingredients found in the pizza are in the paninis. Service/decor: quick quick quick service in a small whole in the wall venue, the best for good pizza. Waiters and staff and friendly. We came in later in the evening around closing time and they let us stay for about 30 minutes past closing. Overall: This is a must try classic Italian pizzeria, on par with Di Pasquales and Trinacria markets.

  • Reesha M.

We had the king Frederick pizza and traditional cannoli. Everything tasted good. Two things that stops me from giving them 5 starts is the fact that after I had eaten all my food I noticed that they don't wear gloves. There were two female workers I noticed, preparing food and each time after they touched the food, they touched their nose. Pretty gross!!! I did not see any hand washing after they touched their faces. One other thing is their customer service is poor. Each customer that walked In through the door was not greeted. Even as the employees took my order, I didn't get a "hi" or "how are you today". It's a not very welcoming atmosphere. My rating today is definitely based upon the food.

Located at a corner in Little Italy, this little spot with a huge following has made quite a buzz on Yelp and I knew it was definitely a must try while in town. Took a nice walk to here from the Inner Harbor which wasn't bad at all. The closest parking you could get to here is street parking, I believe, and there is also a parking garage not too far away as well. Inside, seating is very limited but luckily we were there at the right time. Greeted and offered menus immediately, I was very pleased with the service and style of the restaurant. I think the employees could tell we were new comers. All the menu choices seemed on point but we chose to go with what they seemed to be known for the most, the brick oven pizza. Ordered the 14" Margherita pizza and a couple sodas from the fridge. The pizza was very delicious and even tasted great later on that night as leftovers. The pizza was thin and cheesy, and the tomatoes really set it off for me. I didn't even have to add extra Parmesan cheese on top. Customers came in and out frequently, with even some guys just ordering fresh ingredients to take home from the deli case. I definitely want to come back to this spot and try some of their sandwiches. I definitely recommend this spot if you're venturing through Little Italy.

Holy crap this place floored me. My wife and I stopped in Baltimore on the way home from New York and wanted a nice, quick, simple meal. Isabella's popped up on the Yelp map with good reviews and good prices. My wife and I ordered a 14" Saraceno Pizza. It's a Soppressata, Capicollo, Feta, Garlic and Herbs pizza. The two meats (Sppressata and Capicollo) are covered with Mozzarella cheese, the Feta is below the meats on top of a white / garlic sauce. My wife didn't think we would finish the pizza, but there was no way I wasn't going to finish the meal. It had to be one of the best pizza's I've ever eaten. The sitting area is small, so most of it is a carry out with deli selections to take with you. If you're looking to bring 6 or 8 people for a sit down meal, you might be cramped especially if there's a game in town and they're busy. Just the wife and I were able to grab a small table, set the pizza down and start eating away. The store itself has been in business in one form or another since 1942 as a Deli or Bakery with a wine press in the basement. How cool is that?

Very legit pizza place! Super small only 3 tables so getting it to go is the best option. Was in Baltimore for 6 weeks and went 3 times because it was the best pizza we found in the city.

  • Mike G.

Handsdown best sub/sandwich/pizza in Baltimore. Brick oven says all. Get the Scooch. Don't ask questions - just do it. Homemade meatballs are phenomenal as well. Halfway through the menu so far, and nothing is short of delicious. Pizza is great too, perfect for little ones.

  • Julie H.

Very small & quain shop, I love the subs that they have here. There is a lot to choose from on the menu and the service is pretty quick.

  • Asia G.

Where else can you get fresh mozzarella made same day, in house? Isabella has won me over with their fresh mozzarella balls, look for them at the counter in the zip-lock plastic bags. -Good Pizzas for takeout, not the best. -Ask which specialty pizzas contain their fresh mozzarella (versus pre-shredded).

Just recently went here while in town for a conference. I found top rated restaurants in the area and this one popped up. First off, I'm not sure I would classify it as a restaurant but more of a deli that serves pizzas and has three tables. It's a small gem but they make some pretty sweet brick oven pizzas. The menu can be a bit overwhelming, but take the time to look over it. I didn't look at the sandwiches on the menu, but they have those too. Small selection of drinks in the cooler. Rootbeer, cream soda, regular soda, etc. Isabella's is within walking distance from the Inner Harbor and definitely worth the walk. It's set back in Baltimore's Little Italy and near a neon flashing sign. Don't be fooled by the sign, keep walking and you'll see Isabella's on the corner. Fair prices for a personal pizza, each of us got our own and shared. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a place to grab a quick bite to eat - not good for large groups.

Visiting Baltimore on our 20th anniversary, we were out and about looking for delicious and fun places to catch lunch. We asked some locals while we were at the aquarium, and they suggested since we were close to little Italy, give it a try. Now... I'm so glad we did. It's a tiny little spot but the pizza is amazing! I had a plain pepperoni ( even fixed it with olive oil instead of red sauce). My husband had the Da Patro, and he loved it. But you can't leave little Italy without getting a cannoli...and these were awesome.

    (5)
  • B R.

Very happy to find this place. Had a really good Garden pizza with artichoke, mushrooms, and eggplant. For dessert, I had their cannoli. The cannoli was awesome!!!!!!! The prices are very reasonable given their location. Would definitely return on my next visit in the area. Has a very small sitting area (about 3-4 tables) but likely most of their sales are take-out.

This is an excellent lunch spot. It's probably better for those who work near this little restaurant and pick up a sandwich to go. This place is quite tiny so there weren't that many seats but the food is excellent. My boyfriend and I ordered a medium King Richard's Pizza. The crust was very well made and the toppings were delicious. The sauce was nice. Nothing was too salty or lacking of flavor and the crust had that perfect amount of crunch. We also shared a 6 inch Scootch and that was very good too! The meats and cheese had a nice combination and we didn't feel like we were overly stuffed after sharing all that food. I came in not having high expectations for this place, but it really exceeded my expectations :) Very nice lunch spot and I hope to go there again soon :)

Very great hole in the wall. Great pizza - high quality ingredients - huge subs. We got a four meat pizza, the King Richard I think. It was off a bit, the crust was burnt throughout the pie, but I still have confidence that this could have been a 100% awesome pizza. Too much meat for me too, but that's just personal taste. I was just bumming a slice from a friend, so couldn't be choosy! Maybe just ask them to make sure they don't burn your pizza? Judging from the other pictures on Yelp it seems like they could do this often. My sub was really good too. I got the Isabella. It comes with a homemade olive spread that was really good. The meats and cheese were great too. The bread was really so-so, but not bad. We also got the regular and the chocolate dipped cannolis. They were amazing

Stop by for dinner 3 hours before the orioles game. All tables were open, food quick and delicious

Great to-go place for sandwiches and pizzas! Easily became one of my favorite places in Baltimore. All of their sandwiches are delicious, I have tried many of them and I have not been disappointed. The Isabella and the American Cheesesteak for instance are totally on point. Their deli meats are sliced fresh for every sandwich, you can get just deli meat to go too! They also have an array of antipasti in the glass cooler when you walk in, along with a bunch of dried italian grocery items on the shelves. They also have brick oven pizzas which are also amazing! They are so flavorful and delicious! Definitely one of the best under rated pizza places in Baltimore. Only complaint is that this place is WAY too small. I love the small and quaint aspect, but it doesn't have a very welcoming atmosphere to sit and eat. Especially with only three tables (two 2-tops and one 4-top) so do not plan on eating there. Definitely get it to-go. Also, a fun tip: Behind Isabella's is the outdoor bocce court, open for the public too, just FYI!

This place is super small, so big groups avoid unless you're taking it out! It always seems to be packed so be prepared for that too! I've been wanting to try to try this place out for a while. I keep hearing everyone rave about this place and yesterday I finally got to try it. I got a cheese pizza, standard, simple. It was great! But I have had better. But I also did get takeout so I wonder if that has anything to do with it. Either way, this is a great local shop and I would go back again. Bon appetit!

Tried this place when visiting Baltimore and I am Not sure what the hype is all about. Don't get me wrong, their pizza and sandwich were good. I had a slice of margarita pizza and meatball sandwich and they were delicious. But i don't think it was THAT good if you know what I mean. Yup, there is a kid who gets orders and they have this cool hippy vibe coming out. But pizza and sandwich were same as you'd get from local pizza joint. (not dominos or papa johns.. you know)

Brah, ordered a meatball sub and homeboy put it in the microwave. Use that oven brah, don't tread on me.

Wonderful little pizza place that I will never forget. Really small place, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in pizza and atmosphere. If you are looking for a good pizza place, then this is it. Probably better to go if you would like a guaranteed place to sit.

Pleasant and quick service. Limited seating (about 4 tables and 11 seats) Good food. Tried the Cooch which was excellent. It consists a mix of flavorful Italian meats (Capicollo, Soppressata, Porchetta) and Gouda Cheese. The sandwich is complemented by Roasted Peppers and then the Balsamic Dressing gives it a final kick. Also had the Aria (chicken, mushrooms and pesto) which was good but the chicken was a touch dry and the sandwich needed a little more of a kick (like the Cooch with the balsamic dressing) Topped off with San Pellegrino at $2 a pop. Would definitely recommend the Cooch. Will be back. Lots more sandwiches to try.

Outstanding Italian sandwiches and very good wood-oven pizza in this tiny combination of deli and pizza place. Isabella's is only about 7 years old but I'd have believed 70 years, it just has the feel of a classic old-school place. A personal pie at 10 inches and about 10 bucks is plenty of food for two people. I tried the veggie pizza, the crew that day was perfectly happy to spice it up a bit with fresh red cherry peppers and pepper flakes. In all of 5 minutes I had a pie with an absolutely perfect char on the crust but not burned on top. Very good pizza. The sandwiches are amazing thanks to the Italian deli meats they slice fresh for every sandwich: capocollo, mortadella and any other favorite, it's here. Another treat was a special rosemary-infused ham, delicate and so yummy. Even the spicy vegetarian sandwich (hey- variety!) was great. I recommend asking for your sandwich to get an extra toasting in the brick oven, you'll be glad you did. I can just about eat a half-size sandwich alone, a full-size is plenty for two. The deli counter also offers marinated mushrooms, filled cherry peppers, cooked stuffed green peppers, fresh mozz plus any of their meats and cheeses by the pound. They have a few shelves with De Cecco pasta, olive oil, canned San Marzano tomatoes and other Italian specialties. Try to leave room for dessert! Cannoli here are simply perfect: small, crispy, filled right when you order then dusted with powdered sugar. They have chocolate-dipped cannoli shells but that's overkill :) I think they're perfect plain. I've chatted up the staff and everyone was very friendly, so I don't quite understand Yelper comments about rude staff. These are some serious cooks, not just high schoolers etc. The only thing is, the kitchen staff is right there in the same space with you, there's no front-of-the-house separation from back-of-the-house, you're likely dealing with a person who anywhere else would be called a line cook and not allowed to talk to customers LOL! I've visited here on several weekday afternoons about 2pm and had the place to myself -- I could sit at any of the four tables! Seriously this place seats only a dozen people, so take-out is probably about all you can hope for at peak times.

Maybe it was a bad pizza, maybe other things were better, but I got a soggy pizza.

Tremendous pizza--a buddy and I had the Garden Pizza (Eggplant, Mushrooms, Artichokes) and the Greco (Feta with Tomato Slices, Mushrooms & Kalamata). Among the best. The lack of indoor seating wasn't a problem for us: benches outside the front door were great on a warm, clear Saturday night. Fast and reasonably price as well. If you're looking for a great, quick meal, skip buying a slice at a franchise and head here.

Um, wow. I never want to eat Papa Johns or any other chain place ever again in life. Got a 14" King George, and it was everything I wasn't expecting it to be and more. It's a small place, so don't expect to be able to bring your party of 6 to eat here. I LOVE pizza (if you can't tell from my reviews lol). I wish I lived closer so I could eat here more often. If you're debating, just go...you won't regret it.

Another take out night with Isabellas. Mediocre experience. The Rustic was actually quite awful - the beef was extremely dry. The zinger as good and spicy but had too much bread and not enough filling. The king Richard pizza was probably the best thing from the evening. I'd say stick with pizzas at Isabella's and get sandwiches at one block away, at Vacarros.

I've been coming here for over 5 years now and I have never been disappointed. My favorites are the rustico, italian cold cut, chicken parm sub and the pizza.. it is out of this world. Seating is limited but on a nice day there is plenty of seating next door around the boca court. It doesnt take long for tables to open up as you wait for your food. I honestly wouldnt change a thing.

We were in town for a show at the Arena and were too early and starving and what better way to find food but Yelp? So... I just looked at what was near by and I see Brick Oven Pizza... I'm sold... And I hadn't even read the reviews yet. So we drive around town (Apple maps took us the extra long way!!) thru some shady stuff and I'm gettin' nervous, then turn to into Little Italy!!! OMG... Heaven!! So, quaint little shop that has olive oil, San Marzanos, pasta, and all the goods from Italy, Baci included, fresh deli, and pizza and panini menu fit for a king... In fact, I ordered the King Richard... Meatballs, Italian sausage, ham, pepperoni and cheese... And this amazing thin crust that was just the perfect place between crispy and airy... And they are fast too!! It was ready in about 6-7 minutes!!! So there's not but a few tables, but that is typical for a little deli style shop . The vibe is great and the staff are super nice! The young guy at the front made super pizza suggestions (kept my belly happy for hours:) and everyone was welcoming and chatty... A great place! I'll go back for sure... Just a bit of a drive.

Possibly the best pizza in Baltimore. Their sandwiches are incredible too. Cheap. Limited seating. Authentic Italian... not that I have a single credential to say that.

My cousin & I were playing tourist for a day, and we wandered into this tiny restaurant after being completely charmed by Little Italy. She ordered a cheese pizza and I ordered the Zio Ronni sandwich. Oh, my god. That sandwich. I'm going to have dreams about it. She enjoyed her pizza, but I wanted to sing ballads to my sandwich. Definitely check this place out. Affordable, great variety, and very friendly folks behind the counter. Would happily return if I ever find myself in the area again.

This review is for pizza only... BEST PIZZA IN BALTIMORE. There, I said it. If you can't eat in, order it 2/3's done, take it home and zap it in your oven. Your welcome. And get a salad! Not just to offset the caloric load of your pizza.

  • Mike G.

Looking for a quick bite with my wife and two young daughters, this was a perfect choice. My kid's pizza was great, my wife and I both had subs. Great as well. The dining area is small, be prepared to find alternative seating if during a rush. Tables did turn quickly during lunch. The staff behind the counter greeted everyone that walked through the door, great personality. Even the customers were friendly chatting with each other and welcoming of us, the obvious tourist. Great place, will be back again.

We stopped in on our way south on a Sunday. This was exactly what we hoped we'd find in Baltimore's Little Italy. The Rustico and Porchetta were just what we needed to make it to NC.

I'm not sure how this place is rated so highly, as it was one of the worst pizza experiences I've had in Baltimore. Extremely over priced ($18 for one pizza), soggy, and way too much cheese. I suspect they must have made a cheese pizza hours earlier and added my desired toppings to it, since it took less than 10 minutes for the pizza to be ready. The atmosphere wasn't all that great either -- the staff was blasting trance music and playing games. Perhaps the sandwiches are what make this restaurant so highly rated, but if you're coming for pizza, you can find much better elsewhere.

Great sandwich shop.. Superfresh bread and meats..Great oldschool italian sandwich place..i got the scootch sandwich, which was so tasty..also got an individual brick oven pizza with sausage and peppers. Had great sauce and cheese.. Also tasty.. Owner is real friendly..only negative is only a few tables, so get it to go..

Really enjoyed my experience at this place. I ended up going with the King Richard Pizza - it's ultimately a meat lovers with sausage and pepperoni. Carnivores will love it! It's crafted so well, one of the better brick oven pizzas I've had in a while! There are multiple sizes you can get, and for me the 10' was more than enough. Most of my friends ended up getting pizza as well, although one of my friends got a sandwich and it was ginormous! The restaurant is tiny, and really only has like 3 tables to sit at. If you're from the area or are staying in a hotel nearby, I'd just get it to go and eat in comfort. Unless of course you want to get gelato as dessert at any of the multiple gelato places nearby (like we did).

  • Thom D.

The food quality was pretty good -- but the experience in the place left much to be desired. The staff wasn't particularly nice to customers eating in the restaurant or taking out, and the person answering the phone kept making fun of callers, after he hung up. Might come back for take-out, but absolutely do not recommend for eating in.

  • Aaron W.

Extremely good brick oven pizza. I got the 10" pepperoni and sausage. All ingredients were very fresh and the sauce was light and tasty. Cooked just right in the oven and served quickly. On a normal day I would say the 10" is enough to split with a salad and maybe an appetizer, but due to my appetite at the moment I finished the whole thing off. Reasonable price as well, $9 before tax. Only 3 tables and very small at that so takeout is probably best but it was nice enough and empty so we ate in. No alcohol is served there and only soda in cans.

  • Kory T.

Fresh, authentic, great pizza! The King Richard with Green Peppers is the way to go. The pizza came out in 10 minutes, everything was on point. The crust was soft and you could taste the seasonings in every bite of the pizza. A must have!

  • Christine C.

With so many reviews let me be short and sweet: Food - LOVED Location - LOVED Tables - LESS LOVE We had pizza and a couple sandwiches. It was all fantastic and very authentic. They only have a couple places to sit in here, wish they had more space to sit and enjoy your meal. It got busy after we arrived too and the line was in our face as we sat and ate our meal. But we will probably go back because it was that good. Service was quick but they were not too friendly - maybe it's cause we had kids??? Or maybe it's cause we looked like tourists? Who knows. But they were not friendly, all business until one of their friends walked in.

  • Brad M.

This is one of my go-to places in Bmore! The pizza is so consistently good and fresh and they're always incredibly nice. I usually get the King Richard pizza with mushrooms instead of ham. There are 2 sizes and the large size is probably enough for about 3-4 people. It's fairly thin crust and made in a fresh stone/brick oven (I don't recall which). We get the Chef salad too, which has really awesome marinated mushrooms. If they have Arancini's you should definitely give them a try--not the cheapest but so, so good. The only thing I might say negatively is that the price of the salad is a bit much, but I suppose the price of the pizza makes up for it ;)

We were visiting from NC and had to visit little Italy. We stopped by this little shop and it was AMAZING! There were 8 of us and the girl and two guys making the food handled us greatly! The food was absolutely amazing, we got three different pizzas, pasta salad, and a sub. It was perfect! I cook for a living so I can point out when things are wrong and right. This place was perfect. I wish I could visit this place on the regular. Keep supporting this place it's perfect!

Delicious pizza! Their spicy hot pepper pizza is some of the best that I've had. I think there's parmesan under the regular cheese? Whatever it is, it makes the pie taste fabulous. Generous amounts of cheese and sauce and a nice chewy crust. I wish the large was bigger.

Lunch time!!! What better way to spend lunch then by going to little Italy. I have been to LI several times, but I have always missed this little gem. Okay, it is in the city so no, parking isn't great, but there is a garage that is practically free to park in. Isabella's is right on the corner with a green awning. It is quite small on the inside with about two tables and a counter with fresh foods. The menu is pretty big, from brick oven pizzas, to salads, and sandwiches. So I decided on a sandwich, I got the Porchetta, which had roasted pork with rosemary, mozz, tomato, cheese and oil. There are two sizes, small and large. I got the small. Okay let me tell you, this sandwich was ahmayzing!! Nommers!! The bread was awesome, and the pork was great, you could really taste the rosemary. I was sad when it was all gone. The staff were really cool and things were made quickly, despite it being lunch time. I am so happy that I found Isabella's because I will definately be returning!!!

Yelp score: 3.5 Mon evening, we were near little Italy & had a craving for some 'fresh out of the oven' pizzas so decided to try this place. Food: 2 x 10" pizzas- Bianca (white pizza- ricotta, mozzarella, feta, garlic) & Vinni (red pizza- marinara base, mozzarella, hots, chicken) Diners: 2 Take out Verdict: well made, authentic pizzas. Service was quick. Bread was thick, toasted well but not chewy and the red base/sauce was very well flavored. Given that, the pizzas were very simply made/ with less (one to a couple of ) toppings for the price that you pay. All in all this place is worth a try if you are in the area.

  • Melissa S.

So the only reason I'm giving 4-stars is the limited seating and employee only restroom. It's better for take out than dine-in as there are only 3 tables inside. This was a fantastic local place for brick-oven pizza. Husband and I split 14" pizza pavion. It was delicious. It had a good amount of toppings. We finished all but one slice so go hungry, take the leftovers home or get the 10" if it's for one or two.

After a Segway tour (so much fun!), we were n the mood for pizza and wanted to try Isabella's, but ended up ordering sandwiches and salad. The Zio Ronni was delectable, served on a delicious Italian sub roll. I loved the veggies on the mixed green salad, especially the eggplant. Served with balsamic viniagrette. Service was quick and casual. There are only a few small tables and some benches outside for waiting. The prices were reasonable and the food so yummy. Great place to stop for a bite.

Truly a gem in Baltimore. Isabella's is one of my favorite places for lunch. The sandwiches are fantastic. Everything I've had is absolutely wonderful. The Scooch is my favorite but the zinger is also really good. The service is also great. Small family feel, everything made in house. Every time I've gone the guys have welcomed me and helped me quickly. I love coming here and having it as a go to place to meet up with anyone. I brought my family and they were more than impressed. So grateful that places like this are a part of little Italy and the Baltimore food scene.

Sad to say, it was not good. Ordered two different pizzas. One had olives on it that tasted like they might have been spoiled or past their prime? And the other was just bland and boring. :'(

Awesome dining experience at Isabella's. Perfect spot for a nice lunch in Little Italy. Small and quant setting. Get there early if you want to eat in the tiny restaurant area. The food was top notch. Pizza cooked perfectly and all the sides/apps delicious.

Whenever I am in Baltimore I try to swing by Isabella's to grab a sandwich. I have been going to Isabella's for about 5 years and am truly surprised that there are any bad reviews of this gem. I am sorry for the people who don't find this place wonderful -but maybe it is for the best because it is always crowded!

Great food...Went there over Columbus Weekend and had a great lunch...had the steak sandwich with an arancini and a drink for 17 and it was more than enough to share...other people raved about the pizza and meatball sub...tight inside but take a seat at the bocce court in the back...don't waste your money at Inner Harbor chains when you can go to this gem!!

  • Nick P.

Scooch sandwich is awesome! Various Italian meats (including capicola), Gouda cheese, roasted red peppers, and balsamic vinegar, which was quite interesting to try on a sandwich, but delicious. Also got garlic bread with cheese, which was tasty, but a bit burnt. Nice neighborhood vibe and friendly staff. Small interior. They also have a deli case where they sell meat cheese, etc., and they also make pizza, but we didn't try any. Prices are a bit high, but I guess that's to be expected in a larger city. Definitely a must-stop if you're in this area of Baltimore.

this was just a really really really solid pizza experience from beginning to end. aside from my friend's boyfriend struggles/stories (the dude is a real weiner sometimes!) this afternoon's meal was a ten. don't expect to have a seat here as there's only three tables and only one has more than two seats - we got lucky today and took the "big" 4-person . the guy behind the counter was cool, everyone here was - just people alright with spending a nice afternoon inside churning out great pizza and sandwiches. the pizza, though. sheeeeesssshhhh. we had the pavion sans broccoli rabe (rapini) b/c one party member prefers the flesh of lesser animals, not plants, on her pizza, which is cool and metal. the crust and cheese and sauce played perfectly together - not a weak link i can think of. after tax it came out to $19 or so for a 14 inch pizza. i'll be back next time i come back to baltimore.

Isabella's literally has the best pizza in Baltimore. You can just point to one on the menu and it'll be the best thing you tasted. The Greek salad is delicious. Ask for Irene, she's the best.

I have to admit that I rarely eat pizza in the DMV because I just don't like our options. However, if I lived closer to B'more, I'd definitely eat pizza more than a couple times a year. Thanks you, my fellow Yelpers, I headed to Isabella's while I was in B'more for a little race. The place is TINY and can probably fit 15 people tops. It may not even fit THAT many. Anyway, while the people who work there aren't particularly friendly, I gave them a pass cuz it was a heatwave when I went there. You order your stuff, get your drinks out of the fridge, grab a bag o' chips and anything else you want, and wait at your table til they call you. You pay AFTER you eat. Interesting. I guess they wanna give you the chance to eat and buy more. Anyway, we got the Margherita 14", I believe, based on some reviews. Um, wow, that was kinda a big pizza for the 2 of us, but we pushed through. HAHA. It was definitely worth the humid, sweaty walk for the hotel. The tomatoes were fresh, the crust was thin, but not too thin, and the basil just made it perfect. Definitely worth a stop if you're near the harbor. Besides, it's Little Italy, you know you can get some great dessert afterwards as well :)

Would give the pizza five stars but very small place, deli style. Friendly enough staff, clean appearing overall, however my self seated table was a bit dirty. Pizza, King Richard I believe, was definitely a five star pizza! I will return again!

Try as I might, I just understand the hype about this place. Sure, there is a wide variety of sandwiches and pizzas, but it's just not very good. The bread tastes old, the meat tastes like its not refrigerated properly, and they use too much of all the wrong sauces, leaving your breath to taste like sewer. The staff is not friendly at all. All around, bad experience.

    (1)
  • Ben W.

The pizzas here are great but it's the paninis that set this place apart. I've tried half the menu and there's nothing that misses the mark. My favorite so far was the Scooch. High quality ingredients, fantastic bread, quick friendly service. There's not a lot of seating and it can get busy during the lunchtime rush but really that shouldn't be a reason to stay away. The real question to be asked is how do places like Subway and Potbelly survive when places like Isabella's are within walking distance?

I've been on my quest to try every Baltimore pizza-serving place I can find. Isabella's was my next stop and it didn't disappoint. As the name of the quaint cafe implies, pizza and paninis are its specialties. I'd say the brick oven pizza is good, but the brick oven sandwiches are better. I came here excited about Isabella's pizza, but I left being excited about their sandwiches for when I come back next time. Isabella's is right smack in the middle of Little Italy. Parking, if you can find it, is street parking with a 3 hour time limit. Seating at Isabella's is few, but that probably won't deter me from coming again.

Checking Yelp before a concert at Ram's Head Live, few options were recommended but Isabella's had 4-1/2 stars. Had the Da Patro pizza and it was most excellent. Highly recommend this local eatery in little Italy!

Stopping here before leaving Baltimore totally made up for the disastrous Italian food experience we had the previous night. It also makes me pretty dang glad the vegetarian place we walked to was closed (despite Yelp's posted hours saying it was open for another half hour). We got the garden pizza and I even forgive the guy for not replacing the mushrooms with olives, as we had asked, that's how good the pizza was. (It worked out okay; husband loves mushrooms and he said these were deliciously marinated. It was just extra work for me as I had to pick them all off.) Great, chewy crust, excellent ingredients, cooked just right. I only wish we'd also ordered a margarita pizza as well; other customers did and it smelled awesome. Next time!

First, don't forget to pick up your beer and wine before stopping in. The restaurant sent us to a very friendly bar only 2 blocks away. Next, the best part of the experience was the pizza that tastes amazingly as if you were eating in someone's home in Italy. Keep in mind that they only have 3 tables and a window sill for eat-in service. This place could easily move to 4 stars for me when they finish that 2nd floor dining room, become more welcoming to non-locals and offer something other than paper cups for beer/wine.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types.
