I've lived in Rosedale for over 3 years and just went to this place a few months ago. I'm so bummed that my fiance and I hadn't come here sooner! A good family restaurant that you can take just about anyone to and everyone can find something on the menu they like. A few things... A) Portions are ENORMOUS. Fiance got chicken marsala and it was three whole chicken breasts. His parents got fish entrees and each came with 3 full filets. It's insane. You WILL have leftovers (unless you're me and get crab cakes or soft shell crabs which I will devour in one whole bite.) B) Owners and servers are very friendly. They really want you to come back here and the good service makes that an easy thing to do. C) Food is really good in general. Desserts are awesommmme. Finally, the menu is gigantic at this place. It's hard to look at the whole thing. They always have specials which I think are really good.

Sat down for over 20 minutes no one even came over. Then they don't give any free soda refills but want a 15% gratuity. They put anything in the hood and take advantage .will never go there again

What do I like about Hazelwood Inn? Everything! My favorite go to is the crabcake platter. First off, it's a really nice sized JUMBO LUMP crabcake...ANNNNNNDDD it comes with TWO sides! The best part is it's under $15!! Maybe I'm cheap, but I feel like a winner everytime because many places charge over $20, and their crabcake is not always as big. Drinks are always good and reasonably priced. I had the Strawberry Peach sangria on my most recent visit and loved it. Happy Hour here makes the already reasonable prices even better. **Note: I normally venture in during the week on the bar side.**

The food is good... Not the best crab Cake I've ever had however for the price I would grade it a B... A little Filler but they season it well.... And its not expensive. However You get a lot for your Money sian the Drink category. The Bartenders Really serve it Up!!! We had a Round of Tequila Shots and they did not disappoint.

Crabcakes are my favorite at this spot. Been here a few times...good food and cozy seating.

Club sandwich platter to go. Nice deal, great sandwich- a bunch of fries. Could the portion of cole slaw be any smaller though? It's one of those little plastic containers you normally get dressing in. Really who hates cabbage that much? Still needs Restaurant Impossible---Robert Ervine where are you?

Dined at the Hazelwood Inn this past Sunday and what a great experience! We were seated in a timely fashion. The restaurant itself is very pretty and the waitstaff was great. We had a really great waitress who was very attentive to our needs and even recommended a few dishes. This was important since there were 11 of us. I ordered the broiled seafood trio with the grilled broccoli (a must try) and a peach and red wine sangria. My meal was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend dining at the Hazelwood Inn. You won't be disappointed. I'm already making plan to visit again.

Happy Hour with friends is always great. Drinks are always on point. My favorite must have is the Tuscany Salad.. OMG It's to die for. I have never had a salad that was soooo good and portions are huge i was about to eat off that salad three times.

This spot seems a bit aged, which is never a problem for me, it has nice Home feel to it. There are three parts, sounds crazy but, there is a main dining area, they have what seems to be a liquir store and the bar area, which i where i have dined in. I went for happy hour with a couple of friends, and i had the Apple martini, which was pretty good, the part that made me a fan was hands down the Crab dip - AMAZING!! Maybe because im from NY i never had that before, but yes it is the reason why i will return!! The Lemon pepper wings are really good as well. Since i am a newbie in Maryland, it is hard for me to find places i like, but this was good. The one thing that annoyed me was that the staff didnt come around too often to ask you about your food, if you needed additional drinks etc. Great place though!

We took my aunt out for her bday on Sunday. We arrived close to 4pm and got seated right away which I appreciated. Our server, Theressa, was wonderful. She was funny, attentive and thorough. The bread was warm and fresh. I ordered the chicken chesapeake, my 2 aunts ordered the crab stuffed (was actually topped) tilapia, and my mom got the meatloaf. All was good and came as a large portion. Ii enjoyed my chicken chesapeake but enjoyed the taste of my aunt's tilapia even better. They definitely use fillers in their crab but are not stingy with crab meat and the flavor was just right. We had 3 entrees and beverages for less than 100 dollars before tip which was fair for hr amount and quality of food. I shared my leftovers with my husband and he was full. I would go back in the future and would definitely ask for Theressa.

My sisters and I went for a birthday lunch, started off with some delicious Long Island Ice Teas (my fave) and potato skins. The potato skins tasted as if it was mustard in the imperial mix which kind of threw me off. Decided for an entree to get the lollipop lamp chops. OMG they were ssssoooo good!! They tasted as if they cooked them on a charcoal grill to perfection, I wish I had them RIGHT now, lol....the side was mashed potatoes, not homemade which would've been outta this world but they were still acceptable, besides all the good food it was topped off with everyone singing Happy Birthday w/ a slice of cheese cake, BDay Heaven ;-)

Lots of food no matter what you get.good prices. Good sour beef and dumplings, liver and onions...great! Good crabcakes. Reasonably priced. Good fried chicken. Great local place.

Went on a Friday night, place was packed, good sign, got seated in less than 10 minutes, service was great! Food was excellent, no complaints, prices are exceptional, portions are very big, you won't be disappointed.

Great place to eat with family and friends. I find myself going on Mondays with my neighbors to eat some really great food. The food is amazing especially since the menu is very basic but that's what makes it a great place.

This was my favorite first time here and I was not disappointed. Food was pretty good and drinks were good as well. We had a few appetizers (southwest egg rolls and panko shrimp) along with a cheeseburger and a crabcake sandwich. I liked the overall atmosphere and music as well. I will be definitely going back.

Food is AMAZING. I did find plastic in my chef salad and in my crab dip. Once we got this squared away everything was okay. We had a big party and Kali was very overwhelmed. Luckily Theresa was there and helped her save the experience. Quite upsetting that we couldn't do separate checks. Would eat here again because the food is good but make sure you check for debris. Smh. Also, request Theresa. She's superwoman!

Their food is amazing. I've only been twice, but it's definitely the place to go when you want some strong drinks and good food. They have a good selection of different items on their menu it's almost hard to decide what to eat! Their Tequila Sunrises are cheap and they don't hold back on the Tequila. Their food can be on the pricey side but it's worth every penny! Both waitresses both times were excellent.

We just moved up the street from here and dinning in was average, nothing to write home about. We tried carryout twice from here and it was horrible. We were really hoping the first time was just a one time thing because it is so convenient. It looked like they just threw left overs in a box both times.

This is place is without question the best place to go for a nice jumbo lump crab cake! Very little filler and the lump crab just tumbles off the large (maybe 8 oz) crab cake. Our group was treated very well and never had to ask for anything. The menu is vast and the other selection very outstanding. If you haven't tried this cozy hidden gem you don't know what your missing.

I'm a fan of Hazelwood Inn because of the broiled crab cakes and $2 dollar beers. This Restaurant/Lounge/Carry-out resembles a funeral home from the exterior but don't let that deter you. I love the bar seating with flat screens everywhere. There is a rustic dining room area that is good for groups and family diners. I would easily be a regular if I lived closer.

This place is great. The food is good, the prices and better, and there aren't a bunch of colleges kids. I came here on a Monday for happy hour after work (which is actually seven days a week from 11a to 7pm). Lola was my bartender. She was very attentive and made awesome drinks. Personally I am a whiskey lover, and I can say after 3 drinks I knew it was time to go home. I definitely recommend that if you can catch her here, do so. In addition to being friendly and providing optimal customer service, this girl knows her stuff. I had the BBQ bacon supreme burger to eat. It came very quickly compared to other places I've been. It was big and juicy and filling. I also noticed that other entrees were coming out in large servings, so don't dear that you will leave this place hungry. Whether you're coming here to eat, drink, or have a good time, I would recommend Hazelwood Inn to anyone. I will definitely be coming back.

First off, I'm gonna need the storefront photo for this place to be changed IMMED-JATELY. I dunno who the dude is but I've never seen him there any time I've been unless he just hides out in the bathroom taking random pictures. Anyway, this place does its job for being a neighborhood bar. Actually, I'll venture out there and list it as one of my "eastside" spots because people from all over that side of town tend to drop in. Hazelwood Inn is near a number of other bars but they aren't as attractive and welcoming so I prefer to spend an occasional evening here when I don't wanna go straight home. The food here is just so-so but the prices are cool. I used to go for the dollar crabs but last season the crabs they served were not good AT-ALL. Apparently more and more patrons must have become aware of it because the last time I was there I heard a waitress tell a table "we serve 5 crabs per table the first order around and if you like them, we will bring you more." Crazy right? Speaking of waitresses, they suck. For the place to be so cozy (seating about 12 table sections with 4 seats & about 12 seats at the bar), it sure is hard to find your waitress. Hint: they sometimes can be found chilling in the outside section chain smoking while you are on the verge of dying of starv or thirstation. *eyeroll* Try to make it for happy hour because the drink specials are great. I also love the fact that they have trivia almost every night. My beef with the trivia is that you have to write down your answer and walk it up to the DJ each time...which usually results in people just calling the answers out LOL. Oh and if you come for trivia, don't stay too late, sometimes the old folk get a lil rowdy & drunken and take the trivia thing a little too seriously. I have seen the DJ's life threatened over trivia answer technicalities.

I had the pleasure of having dinner here around 5pm. Last night. Of course they are know for the crab cakes and it was delicious as usual. But, last night I tried something new for the first time and that was the snow crab with hot butter that they offer. I was in for a treat. As I sipped my Peach Sangria I truly enjoyed a meal that I wasn't able to finish. Not because it wasn't good but, it was a large serving. I won't complain. I will return.

We love to visit steak houses that seem to have been around forever. there is servers who really know the menu, good cooking, and lots of charm. this is just that type of place. we found it by accident and thought we'd try it out. the waitress was very helpful - seemed like she worked there for a long time. She recommended the Steaks and Fish. My husband got the Prime Rib which was huge!!! and i got the Special Rockfish. they were very accomodating and got all the sauces on the side for me. both came with a soup or salad and a vegetable. Food was very good and worth a trip to check out!

Beware! Your meal may cost more than you expect! I've been going to the Hazelwood Inn a couple of times a year for the past four or five years. Let me rephrase that - I *had* been going. I won't be returning. We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon expecting the usual good food. It was just OK - I had a burger and it was done the way I expected so I had no problems with it. Fries were a bit on the mushy side though. My wife and mother had crabcakes and both thought that they tasted a little odd. Not odd as in spoiled, odd as in who puts pimento in a crabcake?? Whatever - not enough to stop going there. Our server was friendly and attentive - until the bill came. She plopped the check down on our table and promptly disappeared never to be seen again. Once we looked at the check, we knew why. Stamped in big red letters was "For your convenience, an 18% gratuity has been added to your check" WTF! For MY convenience? Do I look like simple math is something that I cannot perform? How is that convenient for ME? Let's be honest here - your business is in a neighborhood that is in decline and as a result, sometimes your servers get shafted by your patrons. It's NOT for my convenience - it's for YOUR convenience. I have no problem with adding a gratuity to a large group, as long as it is clearly posted in the restaurant or in the menu. Not the case here. Nowhere was the "Everybody Tips!" policy stated and, the three of us hardly constitute a large group anyway. It's kinda stupid, really. If you're going to charge a set fee for service (be it fantastic or, be it mediocre) why not just raise prices and say tipping is not allowed? I wouldn't feel ripped off then. For the record, I always go into a restaurant with the thought that the waitstaff is going to get a 20% tip and anything above or below that reflects upon the service. Our server would have gotten at least the 20% so, it's not that I don't tip - it's that I like to be the one who decides how much. Since I can't make a tipping decision at the Hazelwood Inn, I can make the decision to eat elsewhere - I encourage you to do so as well.

Service in the bar is HORRIBLE!!!!! Waitress/bartender with blond hair and muffin top was shockingly RUDE!!! We have been going here for 10 years and enjoy eating on the restaurant side(where waitresses are ABOVE professional and courteous)....but decided to try out the remodeled bar side....While the food is always good, the service in the bar was way under par. I am at awe that this wonderful place would keep such bad employees. It's bringing the place way down. Beware, if you eat in the bar there is a %15 gratuity automatically added to your bill. If it wasn't for this, she would have got %0! Just horrible!
(2)Laurie K.
Meh, it was just ok. We went for a bday party that was held upstairs. They had a fixed/buffet of wings, chicken fingers, pizza bites, and fruit and cheeses. It wasn't that impressive, but maybe we should come back another time to have dinner downstairs.

My friend and I stopped in, looking for a quick bite to eat. Food is Excellent, service in the bar area is VERY opposite! Waitress didn't even come to the tables....had to go to the bar to get everything....no problem....we noticed she was the only waitress and was also tending bar. However, she was very rude and spent most of her time behind the bar cussing and carrying on about something that happened to her to one of her friends at the bar. Then while eating, she proceeds to open the back door and smoke! Leaving the back door open....smoke filling the area where we were seated. We were not the first to complain. Most of the bar looked back at her in awe(being that it was 40 degrees outside). Someone stated, 'isn't this a smoke free environment?' She replied by saying she was 'outside.'. SMH... Absolutely HORRIBLE service. We made sure we left her the exact amount on the check and no more(since 15% gratuity is already included). Time of day: 1:00pm on a Saturday. Waitress: grossly dressed, blonde hair pulled back If you go here, eat in the restaurant area and NOT the bar. The waitress in the restaurant area are4 very, very nice, attentive and greet you with a smile all the time! If it wasn't for the good food, I would never go back!

This place is a little weird, but in a good way. The dining room lacks atmosphere and isn't really my speed, but the service was good and the food was solid. I prefer the bar area. The crowd is diverse. There is a fun and relaxed atmosphere. The full menu is offered in the bar area as well, and that has a lot of fair priced specials. The weekday special of $10 for either a lump crabcake or NY strip with two sides is a good bet if you don't see another special that calls to you. Ask for the strip a little more rare than you want to be sure it isn't overcooked, because that seems to be the trend there. The crabcake is super, has very little filler, and is generously sized. Either one is a good choice. Last I checked, Tuesdays is trivia night, Wednesdays is karaoke, and I saw a sign up for some live music one other night and some other one-off events. The website is horrible, so don't expect to learn anything of use from that, but pay this place a visit and see what it's about. Certainly worth checking out if you are looking for a place with beer, bar food, sangria, and good specials with no affectation. Since it's sort of an everyman's type of place, I recommend it to anyone.
