I've been coming here since I was a UMBC Retriever, something about familiarity that is just awesome. I guess you would consider this place to be a "dive," especially if you are one to check out appearances. Inside it looks quite bare at times, I hardly ever see people dining in. Don't be alarmed by the tables which are generally lined in plastic, or the appearances of the dining area, or the sometimes random items that find their way to the tables, tvs, radios and the like HA!!!!! The staff is awesome, the food is good! I'm a creature of habit, and I always get the house lo mein, which to me is thee bomb.com . I've tried just about everything, and you just can't go wrong here, the prices are reasonable and you will be full!!!

This food is great for a broke college student who lives 2 minutes away. But the food is mediocre......at best. I had the general tso's combo platter, which came with pork fried rice, a tiny portion of broccoli, and a choice of wonton or egg drop soup. The chicken was pretty tasty, as well as the rice. But the soup tasted like watered-down chemicals. I tried both wonton and egg drop soups, and both were nasty. On the other hand, this food is very cheap. Like $8.00 for the whole meal; so it is decent for broke college students. But if I had more money and a car, I would drive to Catonsville and try some Chinese food there.

My favorite place for late night Chinese carry out. They deliver, which is really convenient considering I go to a college near there so whenever I feel like ordering some American-Chinese food I always go for Golden Gate. I always get the combo platter, which includes a main dish and some pork fried rice (half/half) and a few pieces of broccoli, all in a reasonably and fairly large portioned box. In addition, the combo includes one spring roll and a choice of egg-drop soup, wonton soup, but I prefer the hot and sour soup. As for the main dish, my top three picks on the menu are sesame chicken, orange chicken, and my personal fav, General Tsao's chicken. They are all very similar looking and tasting, especially the sesame and General Tsao, except sesame chicken has sesame and General Tsao is supposed to be a bit spicy (although for me it's really not spicy at all) but still good. Also, if you order any of these chicken mains make sure to ask for white meat, which costs a dollar extra but it's definitely worth it. Anyway all this ends up being only around 10 bucks--which is crazy affordable considering most of the people who order from here are probably college students. Overall this is the best tasting, and best value, delivery Chinese in the area, IMO. Their chicken actually has chicken meat, and not just all fried flour like some of the other ones I've tried (Grace Cafe). The portions are nice, the hot and sour soup is yummy, and it's cheap and convenient.

"You are broad minded and socially active" that is what my fortune cookie said. I guess I have no choice but to Yelp one of my favorite "dive" places to eat Chinese. They are mainly a carry out restaurant and with a local college near by they get a lot of repeat customers. Whenever we go we always eat there. We love to get the tea and the extra things you get when you dine in. Plus the Mandarin style orange flavored chicken (which is the best dish) always taste better when eaten right away. It never tastes as good the next day or if you get it as a carry out dish. The restaurant is not set up for lots of eat in customers and all the time we have eaten there we have usually been the only customers dining in. We tend to get a lot of attention. There is probably only about 6 small tables. The combination is your best choice as you get soup, egg roll and pork fried rice.Tonight, I got the Shrimp Lo Mein and the hot and sour soup. Both were delicious and I had enough to bring home for dinner. Other favorites are the orange chicken, General Tso's shrimp, and any of their Szechuan dishes. I also like their vegetables, especially the string beans. I have tired many of their dishes and specials and have never been disappointed. Tonight we got the meat dumplings as an appetizer. Ask for the hot oil!. They were quickly devoured. If you are in the area around 11- 3 you can get their specials for around $5. Hint: Don't be turned off by the decor of the place. Linen table clothes but covered with glass or plastic, Paper lanterns hanging, and tonight we spotted a small Christmas tree on top of the soda machine with gold tinsel. They also had some tvs on the front tables for sale along with some radios and a toaster oven. The people there are hard working and very friendly. It's about the food.

The food is just okay here if you are looking for a quick bite. Management sometimes isn't that friendly when they are taking your order by phone. But usually it's a nice girl who answers the phone to take your order. They have a reasonable lunch menu and pricing

Decent food. Nice staff. We dined in--looks like no one else ever does. The dining area is extremely old but I'll get carry out next time. My fiancé had general tso chicken--it was good, tasty sauce, lots of breading on the chicken but that's expected. I had chicken and string beans, it was good but extremely spicy. I'll get it again but no spice. Entrees were served with pork fried rice--tasty and moist. We also got wonton soup and egg rolls with our platter. The soup was gross (good broth but gross wonton meat), the egg rolls were good, not greasy and had a little meat and cabbage. I'll be back for carry out. It would be nice to spruce the place up a bit.

I haven't been this place for a long time, it used to be my favourite restaurant when I was a student, I visited here a lot previously and I remember the waitress there was very nice. But yesterday when I visited again, I found it's really not as good as before. First of all, the whole erea is became bad and getto, I even scared to park my car outside; Secondly, the people there are not nice as before anymore, and they charge $1 service fee for each customer without telling in the begining... though just few dollars, but it makes me feel uncomfortable- if you need to charge, at least should tell me.. I don't think will go there again..good thing is they open late till 11pm, and food is not bad.

I stumbled across this place by accident, looking for the snowball stand (new to the area). But it turned into a happy accident. Yes, the place is a dive. But, the food is good. I've sampled quite a few things but their shrimp egg fu yung is my hands down favorite. I haven't had a better version of this dish in years (and ive tried quite a few) since my favorite place closed. I also really like their Szechuan string beans. The only thing I don't really care for is their version of bourbon chicken and the shrimp egg rolls (one tiny piece of shrimp in the entire order, not worth the extra charge). They're quick, friendly, food is cheap and they deliver. Give them a try.

I'd give it no stars if yelp would allow it. Was in the area to house sit for a relative and went to college nearby and remembered this place. Tried to order from phone but website kept shooting me to a general food ordering site, that this restaurant want in the database of. Finally. Alex and the person that answered the phone was pretty short and rude. I had to ask questions about menu because can't get to menu online---see above. When I arrived the place looks like it should have been shut down ten years ago for a thousand health violations. Air vents filthy with dust. Carpets all dirty torn and stained. Floors in kitchen disgusting! Vaccines piled agains the wall in dining room. Microwave on a table next to a coffee pot in middle of dining room. All dirty and I mean filthy. I literally almost got up and left and should have. Ended up that my gf and I both got stomach viruses from mild food poisoning and we ordered TWO DIFFERENT MEALS ALL TOGETHER. Next stop health board complaint. Do not order from here!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've gotten take out from here a couple of times, so here is my review finally. Food is pretty ok. I like General tsao and sesame chicken, they've both been good and the portion is pretty big for ordering a small. General has a bit of a spice to it, which I like. First time I got something it was over the phone and I wasn't the one ordering so I only had the food. Second time however, I went with a friend to get take out. Their service is pretty bad. Maybe we caught them at a bad time, we went around 5 and they were eating dinner. But when I asked for clarification of some menu items they seemed like they just didn't want to talk to me. Then after getting food we asked for napkins, spoons, forks, they gave us two sheets of napkins. When I asked if they had any spoon they told me to use the fork. (?!) I had to press them to get anything out, my Friend and I walked out wondering why they were so stingy about giving us any utensils. They literally cost ten cents.

I have ordered from this restaurant twice and both times I have had horrible service. On the phone they kept me on hold for a few minutes, which isn't enough to make me not go. What was worse was after ordering the food and picking it up they didn't put any utensils in the take out bag and upon asking for them they hesitated and gave me one fork.... And I ordered food for 3 people. Very rude! The also charge .10 for any additional duck sauce which is also ridiculous. The only time I went they were eating dinner at a table behind the counter and didn't get up for a few minutes after they saw me until they finished eating. The quality of the food was decent. The only downside is compared to other chinese restaurants the food was SOAKED in oil. Enough to make me feel sick after eating it. The wonton soup had very little flavor and wasn't good. I will most likely not come back here again

No sense of customer service. Guy on the phone yell ed at me over asking for a dish over rice because they don't come over rice. So when i ask for a side of rice he yells that it comes with rice. Seriously? just give me the fucking rice.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
