Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

This restaurant is by far the best Chinese restaurant in Baltimore. Period. Their prices are unbeatable and their customer service is top-notch. The quality of their food is what really separates them from every other restaurant nearby. I cannot recommend it enough.

Best Chinese in the neighborhood! We're always happy with how quick they are and the customer service is great. I generally get tofu and veggies in garlic sauce - spicy and flavorful! Their tofu is super yum. They generally give you something free (e.g., crab rangoon) when you spend a certain amount. We love this place.

It's cheap take out Chinese food so don't expect too much, but China House does seem much better than most similar carry out places. The menu has your typical Americanized Chinese items but they're made pretty well, food is ready quickly and you get a lot of food for a low price.

My astute husband wrote this review for me in two comments: "Their dinner special prices [$6.95] are like Frostburg prices!!!" (That's really a good thing since he graduated over ten years ago.) And "There are two kinds of Chinese food. Crappy crappy Chinese food and good crappy Chinese food. This is good crappy." I did not experience the rudeness others encountered when ordering. It was the regular Chinese restaurant ordering experience. Not overly friendly, a little brusque, but I'm not expecting much more than that. I would dig an online ordering method just to fully round out my laziness, though. We ordered on NYE and they still made it to Upper Fells Point with our food in under an hour which I was happy with. The food was delicious but the prices were the kicker for the fourth star. We will be eating leftovers for days. The egg drop soup was thicker than most, which I liked. The won ton soup was a highlight. Free crab rangoons with our $20 order were also a favorite. The meat was higher quality than a lot of carry outs. Overall, a solid choice for satisfying a Chinese food fix.

For the past 3+ years I have lived in the same 1 mile radius of Baltimore and I've probably tried 8 or more Chinese delivery joints in that time and China House is by far the best. For quality, taste, reliability and consistency, speed, and price it beats all the others. I love their inexpensive combos with an entree, fried rice and an egg roll. They usually throw in a free soda for you soda lovers. I can't think of anything I've had that wasn't delicious but my favorite thing to do is tell them what I want and let them recommend. Like most Chinese restaurants, a lot of menu items run together and aren't true to their culinary source so looking up the difference between Hunan and Szechuan Chicken won't tell you much about what you're actually going to get. I just call and say I want something really spicy with chicken and lots of veggies and I get it. They also usually put more love into custom orders like this...my veggies and chicken came with some nice sear last order. China House is just a hole in the wall on Eastern Ave., definitely not somewhere you want to sit and eat but for pick up and especially delivery, it can't be beat, at least not around the Fells, Canton, Patterson Park areas. O! And after your first order they have your address on file so you can get it done even more quickly!

I thought my dinner was delicious ! I ordered the chicken egg foo young and Szechuan wontons. Do not pass up these wontons! Other people ordered moo-goo gai pan-was just okay, Szechuan beef-good. Everyone agreed the jumbo shrimp was not worth it. Over pounded flat and over breaded. The egg rolls were HUGE but I didn't care for it compared to those wontons!! We ordered to our hotel and delivery service was great. They called and we met them in the lobby.

It's your typical bad Chinese take-out spot. They have the usual suspects (General Tsao chicken, chow mien, fried rice, etc). They use a lot of the "red sauce" and the veggies are glazed over with the sauce. They're prompt and generous with their portions -- even the shrimp dish had a good ratio of shrimp to veggies. If you're looking for Chinese take out, this place will do the trick, but it's not authentic nor particularly good. They also throw in stuff for free if you order over a certain amount (soda, crab rangoon). Be warned, though, that you don't specifically say that you want the lunch or dinner SPECIAL, they will give you (and charge you for) the entree portions. We thought that our dinner would be $8 a dish, but it ended up being close to $10 a pop. That being said, they gave huge portions. I can't comment on how much smaller the lunch and dinner specials portions are.
(3)Jazmine L.
My boyfriend and room mate love this place. Seriously it's the only place that they'll order Chinese food from.
(5)Kirk S.
China House is like an old, tattered teddy bear: it isn't exactly perfect, but that's perfectly okay. China House is pretty much like every run of the mill Chinese place in the country: it has General Tso's Chicken, egg foo young, an assortment of different fried rice dishes, etc. Thing is, it's good. They're nice. The food arrives piping hot and pretty quickly. The tofu dishes and egg dishes are pretty tasty, and they almost overwhelm you with the amount of food you receive per dish. It's the kinda place that, while not exactly mind blowing, is an old faithful standby.

40 min delivery as quoted and food still hot. Friendly on the phone, deliverer called upon arrival because our buzzer doesn't work. Can't ask for better service. But the quality ends there, right as our bag is delivered... You know what? if you like Baltimore Chinese, good for you. You and I prefer different things. Stop reading now and hit "back" on your browser ______________________________ It's no secret that Charm City can't do Asian food with any consistency. There are a handful (maybe) of restaurants worth eating at. Chinese is downright bad here, Uncle Lee's the only place I've found worth a second visit (three years later). China House is bad even for Baltimore Asian. That's an understatement. It's among the worst food I've had in 2+ years. You know the horror movies where a group of people are killed off one by one in order of ascending importance? China House is that first character to die, the one that is killed off just to introduce the monster/demon to the audience. Szechuan Chicken - Most flavorful and best dish by a mile. The sauce is standard American-Chinese restaurant orange stuff, like food-court "Orange Chicken". The spice level is 3/10. CH's menu-pepper scale is untrustworthy. Dumplings - Dry, tons of dough, one-spoonful of actual filling, tastes oddly like spice and chicory. Soy has salt in it, making this the second best dish we got. Shrimp Egg Roll - Super-thick roll. Two mini-shrimps inside, little crunch. The contents inside the roll are the same color as the roll itself--sandy tan. No green, no orange. A first for me. Black Mushrooms, Bean Sprouts - Oily and bland, the water-crest crunch provides only relief. Dirty water/ash notes after sitting 10 minutes, so eat immediately. Beef and Broccoli - Inedibly stringy/old beef, tough and won't break down while chewing. One bite / fifty chews later and I'm done with CH.

China House is decent place for take-out Chinese and is our go-to when we have a hankering for General Tso's or Orange Chicken. Their delivery is relatively quick and efficient (~40 min) and carryout out orders are quick as well (~10 min).
(4)Tori R.
Five stars on a scale of what you're expecting. It's American Chinese takeout, not white linen service. Food is good. Fried items are crispy not greasy. Great flavor. Good portion size. Easy to order, and staff is very friendly. Always do pick up so can't comment on delivery. Food always ready in 15-20 minutes as promised. It's my go to spot!
(5)Mallory S.
Perfect for that greasy Chinese craving. You definitely can't eat there, the place is tiny. Super quick delivery and all orders over $10 come with soda and crab rangooN!
(4)Cherpumple F.
Hurry, call for Chinese food! Probably the most "authentic" Chinese food in the area (haha...Fells and Canton, that is), easy delivery, friendly service, and cheapO prices. As other reviewers said, it's not super, but it's perfectly okay.
(3)Byron B.
I love the General's Chicken. I get it lightly sauced, and it is great. It is actually still crunchy, and spicy. I normally go and pick it up myself since I'm only a few blocks away. If you ask for it though, delivery takes about an hour, so order early.
(4)Christopher N.
I happily stumbled across China House a couple of years ago and have to say that it has never disappointed. First things first: for a relatively cheap Chinese takeout/delivery place, this place well deserves five stars. It's inexpensive, the food is delicious, and the portion sizes and service are beyond reproach. Last weekend, my girlfriend and I ordered a large egg drop soup, General Tso's Chicken, Mongolian Beef, pork fried rice, and vegetable lo mein. The food arrived to our door step in about 45 minutes, in advance of the 50-55 minutes we were quoted over the phone. Everything smelled and tasted absolutely delicious, and the delivery included ample amounts of different sauces and 5 free crab rangoons. Ugh, so good! The price is really quite reasonable--maybe $30-35 for all of the food we ordered above. The portion sizes are pretty much on par with most Chinese takeout places, which means that the average person can eat the same entree for 2-3 meals. And it's a nice touch that they pair your address with your phone number so that the next time you order they know where to deliver it. All in all, I think it really hits all the marks for a Chinese delivery place--it's fairly cheap, you get lots of food, the food is delicious, and the service is fast and convenient. We will definitely be ordering from here next time we're feeling lazy and want Chinese.
(5)Dave S.
I love to find these out of the way places that usually locals only know about. Just a little family owned business that pumps out good food, that's fresh.. Not much atmosphere, its really only take out. Would diffidently go back
(5)Chris G.
Food was good for Chinese food. Delivery came earlier than expected which was nice given we were quoted 45-50 minutes. I'd go back to this place for sure.
(5)Mike S.
Best egg rolls in the City.
(4)Guillermo H.
Although the surrounding area and modest style of the restaurant may give people a misleading impression, the food is delicious and the staff is incredibly friendly. I ordered the General Tsao chicken and shared the Pu Pu Platter with someone. The portions are large as well. Although I believe most people tend to order the food as takeout, I sat down to eat with my friend and the manager allowed us to have complimentary drinks, which was sweet of her. I would definitely come back to place, especially upon considering how affordable the food is.
(5)Row S.
So I am quite picky when It comes to my chinese food. I have been moderately happy with the other chinese place I usually order from ( they are on Eat24.com , so it makes ordering very simple) but after reading many positive Yelp reviews, I decided to give China House a try. I am very glad I did. The donuts are awesome!! Orange beef was great too, and the crab Rangoon's were a welcomed bonus! Again,I wish they were on Eat24.com , but all in all, I am one satisfied, and very full customer. I am thrilled to now have a go to Chinese.
(4)Kristen Q.
I don't know how all these reviews say it's cheap, mine was $14 for chicken and broccoli and 2 egg rolls. Nothing special.
(2)Rick K.
I have ordered delivery from here several times - the orders have been correct, delivery came in 30 minutes and the food was delicious. So this past delivery was a bit of a disappointment - I ordered extra rice - there was none and the delivery took over an hour. Prior to this, I would have given 4 stars, this experience was a 2.
(3)Samantha M.
My wife and I love this place. We always get delivery. They delivered when Baltimore got 8 inches of snow!! The food is always great. There was only one instance when it look over an hour to get our food but it was a weekend night. Food is reasonably priced and they offer great promotions for sending a certain amount of money.
(5)Rachel S.
Hands-down the best Chinese delivery around. Compared to the competition, China House delivers fresh, tasty grub, at the oh-so-wallet-friendly prices we couch potatoes have come to expect from such culinary establishments. I like to order what I refer to as the "Rachel Buffet": fried dumplings, egg rolls, Kung Pao chicken, pork lo mein, and if I'm feeling like getting some extra loving, their breathtaking fried donuts. Then, I gingerly spread a plush towel across my bed, sprawl amidst the cornucopia of noms, and let the noodles slowly seduce me. Works every time. China House, you old rogue.
(4)Christopher A.
This place is awesome!!! I ordered the Jumbo shrimp and broccoli !! Best decision I've made today!! I also ordered the spring roll which was hot, fresh and delicious. Customer service was excellent and they even gave me a free soda. I'm new to Baltimore and this is the best Chinese I've tasted thus far!
(5)Manav K.
Overall good but they put too much rice and close to no meat. I called them to complain about it and they put my call on hold. That is not the best way to treat your customer especially when I am ordering so much.
(2)Camille B.
Simply put: this place rules. Quick and free delivery, great pricing and the food always hits the spot when I'm craving Chinese. We always used to wonder why they gave us a free soda, but it's because their menu has a coupon for free soda with $10 purchase. Never asked for it and they always deliver! Last night, I went a little overboard, hit the $20 mark and was graciously rewarded with free crab wontons. Needless to say, I was way more excited than anyone should ever be about crab wontons :D Won't be going anywhere else for my lazy night Chinese food cravings! And if you're a spring roll person, def give these crunchy gems a shot.
(5)Elliott P.
Pretty good food, but not standout-ish. I'd order again, because it's what I'd expect from a Chinese place. The delivery was timely and the staff was really helpful. The Kung Pao Chicken did have some of that chewy fat stuff you often find in Chinese food chicken dishes. The spring roll was yummy. Check this place out, it won't kill you, but it isn't the best Chinese in the world. A-OK.
(3)amanda p.
I love Chinese food - there's nothing quite like hot, delicious takeout. But it always sucks to be disappointed by Chinese food. Not to worry, China House will not let you down. Aaaaaand I'm a New Yorker so I know my Chinese food. The chicken fried rice is excellent (I asked them to not use too much oil had they listened!) and the Mongolian beef was not the usual and delish. Standards like general tso and egg rolls are also great. So far they've been great. Hopefully I can bump this up to 5 stars one day.
(4)Bill M.
Good Chinese in Baltimore! This is a take out place to put on the list. These folks got it down. Credit cards, delivery, open 7 days. Really big menu. Wonton soup great Crispy beef great, Fried dumplings great. If you like fresh, and hot food, prepared well, large portions and reasonable prices, give them a call.
(4)Nil S.
I ordered Shrimp Fried Rice and It was bland; there was no smell of freshness at all.... The rice tasted as though It was prepared days ago and frozen.. will not be back ....
(3)Angela B.
Don't tell my boyfriend I secretly like this place! I'm not the biggest fan of Chinese food so I never suggest we get it, but this is a really solid place to get Chinese takeout. The food here is hot and fresh and the portions are massive! I'm a boring shrimp lo mein kind of girl and the shrimp lo mein here is delicious. The egg rolls are also an excellent choice! Most importantly, you won't have to wait long at all for your order to be ready. Who knows.. maybe I'll venture out of my comfort zone and order something new next time! If you really want to get hooked on this place, try the fried donuts. These are not your standard Chinese buffet fried donuts. These fried donuts are game changers. They're hot, fresh, fluffy and sweet. Seriously sinful in the best way! Unfortunately (or fortunately, I'm not sure yet), they only come in a large order, so you might want to share with one or two people.
(4)Joe K.
Chinese joints in the city are hit or miss. Some use MSG, other claim they don't but I am pretty sure they do. China House is a fairly good joint located right near the bowling alley and a few blocks away from Patterson Park. Inside is small, but it isn't really why you come here, it's for the carry out and quality in my book. Cost verse proportion is about the same as most places, however they're good in their dishes. I have tried their house fried rice, and their chicken dishes. All are good quality, and use white meat and good size shrimp for their meals. I wouldn't say it's the best ever, but it certainly is worth your time to stop by and try it out one late night. 3 stars!
(3)Cassandra V.
I enjoyed the shrimp & scallop over fried rice. Was tasty. Delivery timeframe was great. And I enjoyed the freebie - a Pepsi on the house! I'm so glad they deliver :-)
(4)Matthew M.
Great neighborhood Chinese food! Was looking for one forever and didn't think we had one in the area. Fresh veggies quality chicken / beef and it's cheap!
(5)Stephanie I.
This is the only place we have ordered Chinese food from and have never had any issues. I like that when you call they already have your address on file so you don't have to spend time repeating yourself. My food literally arrived 15 minutes later which was amazing. I ordered the pepper steak w/ onion & egg drop soup. The beef was really tender and high quality. I rice was fluffy and delicious. I'll definitely continue to order from here!
(4)Andrew W.
This is about as authentic Chinese as you can get delivered to your house. I've lived in China previously, and so I tend to be a little snobbish about Chinese food - but these guys are the real deal! Generally speaking, if anyone is rating a Chinese place on their General Tso's or egg roll quality, I would say ignore that review. Travelling through China, my test of a restaurant was their or Kung Pao Chicken. China House's is soooo good. One aspect to a great deal of my favorite Chinese dishes is Sichuan peppercorns (). Although this place does not leave them in the food, it does taste as though they may at least use them to spice the oil that they cook their food in. It leaves what I can only describe as a mildly pine-y sort of flavor that is a nice background note in some of the best Sichuan food. The fried dumplings at this place taste as close to what my fiancee and I gorged ourselves on in Tianjin as we have been able to find in the United States! We have ordered and sampled the standards of General Tso's and Sweet and Sour Chicken, which are very tasty, if somewhat expected. The only knock that I really have against this place is that they put mushrooms in everything, which I don't quite understand. Although they are happy to leave them out whenever I can calm myself down long enough while ordering to remember to ask for it. I have been quite surprised to see people saying that portions are "about average" or "what one would expect." My fiancee and I DEMOLISH Chinese food, yet the portions are such that when we order two dishes and dumplings we usually have left overs for 2 days. Lastly, the delivery is freaky fast. Like Jimmy John's commercial fast. Props to you China House, you have my business as long as I live in Baltimore!
(4)Mike C.
I ordered take out from here last night and got the chicken lo mein dinner combo with some wonton soup on the side. The lo mein was really tasty and had plenty of chicken, and the eggroll was delicious as well. Their pork fried rice is OK, but there really isn't any pork, as another comment mentioned before. I might have seen about 10 pieces in the whole container, which was disappointing. The wonton soup was probably the worst thing I had. They just dropped the mostly-wrapper wonton into some hot college inn broth, with no additional vegetables or pork. As far as the food goes, China House is pretty much a low 3-star experience. I bumped the rating for 2 reasons: They don't skimp on the food and you get your money's worth; and during a busy 7:00 dinner rush on Saturday night, my food was ready in 15 minutes. If you're looking for a cheap, fast Chinese food fix, this is the place to go.
(4)Tiffany M.
I read the reviews on yelp and thought I'd try it. It's not disgusting, but it's definitely not good. It's cheap and they deliver. But the food is bland.
(2)Steve A.
In a city with so much bad food that pretends to be Chinese, finding this gem was worth the trip from Catonsville! The egg rolls are excellent- not greasy and soggy as so many in the city. Try the Singapore noodles for something different! My gf isn't adventurous, so we stuck with the standards- beef and broccoli, egg foo yung, Gen. Tsos, etc. Everything was well prepared and the beef was tender and complimented the broccoli very well well. Thanks fellow Yelpers for leading me to this spot!
(5)Christine K.
Roommate and I were craving Chinese, but had no intention of driving out (yes, lazy lazy lazy). Like most Chinese restaurants, the menu is extensive. We ordered chicken and broccoli, veggie mushu, and hot and sour soup. Ooh and a big plus about the soup is that you can tell them to skip the pork, which is fantastic for a vegetarian. While it's cheap, the flavor is definitely all there and the portions are surprisingly large. Food came in about 40 minutes. We even got free soda (which is now going to waste since neither of us drink it, but it was a nice gesture). So, if our experience was so awesome, why did I dock an entire star? I really wasn't crazy about the service. It wasn't so much the delivery dude, but the lady who answered the phone who sounded annoyed and rushed. She also answered with "Hello?" and nothing else, which is how most people answer their personal phones, so I was confused about whether I even called a business. Aaaaaanyway.
(4)Kelli W.
DERISHOUS!! I had the shrimp and scallops in garlic and it was some of the best quality I've had!
(5)Fevi Y.
Super easy to order. Super fast to arrive. Yum yum to the max. So glad I ordered here instead of dominos! Them donuts are super good! I also got a free pepsi. Nice touch.
(4)Jenifer S.
China House isn't a fancy eatery, an innovative gastropub, or a modern fusion restaurant - it is a fast, cheap, tasty take-out / delivery Chinese joint. Knowing exactly what it is, then a 5 star rating shouldn't be hard to fathom, because this place is AMAZING! I live outside of the delivery area, but I can call in my order, get in the car, drive the 15 minutes to the place and it's ready be the time I find parking, so fast is covered. As far as cheap goes, the prices are simply unbeatable in Baltimore - even most of the Chef Specials are around $10 - and you get at least 2 portions per entree. As for tasty, well, there may be better Chinese food out there, but it would be a challenge to find better at these prices, and I've most certainly had far worse for a lot more money! The veggies are fresh and crisp, the sauces are thick, flavorful, and well proportioned for the amount of food in the entree, the meat is tender, and the seafood is cooked perfectly. My one complaint is the wonton soup broth - it tastes like canned chicken stock and there are no veggies in it to brighten it up - but that one little gripe isn't worth docking a full star. Overall, this has already become my family's new go-to Chinese restaurant, and we'll even choose take-out from China House over delivery from any other joint!

One chill Friday evening a friend and I were craving Chinese food and with the mighty powers from Yelps Monocle we stumbled upon China House. We were going to place a call then decided it was right around the corner from where we were so dropped in and gander-ed at the menu. We ordered Chix lo mein, General Tso's Chix, pork fried rice, and egg rolls. Everything pretty much came together under the Specials listed so we didn't have to order anything extra and to our surprise we got a free soda with our purchase and spent close to nothing on the meal, hellz yeah for going in and getting a coupon on the menu. We decided we needed a few extra beverages for our chill evening and told the girl behind the counter we had another errand to run and asked how long till our food would be ready. She said "15 mins" and we said "Cool', then strolled on down to the liquor store and got some bottles to pop. When we got back our food was ready...in under 15mins which rocks when your craving is strong. While we were on our way home the scent of Chinese food was making my mouth water so once we got home we tore into the food, everything was tasty, no complaints. We even had enough food for lunch the next day. I don't usually not finish an egg roll but in this case I was full so when I heat it up the next day it still tasted good (tip put your oven on broil and leave it in for 5-10 mins it crisps the outside) Compared to other Chinese food around the city its good for the price, the portions were great; we had enough leftover for lunch the next day so we basically got four meals for under $20...Not bad if your on a budget and need to fill up. I will be coming back again since it's nearby maybe I'll try delivery because I have a good feeling it won't take long.
(4)Alyssia K.
I ordered the Kung pao chicken and spent the next two days vomiting. Thanks china house for the Nuro virus. Won't order from here ever again.
(1)Chaka H.
We just happened to find this place when we had no energy to put on real clothing and leave the house. We wanted Chinese food, and we wanted it to be delivered. :) Check and Check! The food is very cheap (we spent $30 on A LOT of food), and pretty tasty. I like the chow mein and the sweet and sour chicken the most. I'll most likely order again when I'm feeling really lazy and I have a taste for rice/ noodles!
(4)Noah B.
Great food! Very cheap too, and totally worth every penny. Lunch specials were delivered fast and had solid portions that filled me up. I went for classics like generals chicken and Hunan beef - both were great. Their mapo tofu was good, but not spicy at all - be sure to request some kick to it if you decide to go that route. Good job, China House!
(5)Nicholas C.
Been here twice within a few weeks. Good food, good portions, at a good price. I've had the spring rolls and tofu with spicy garlic sauce both times, and it was good. Other people I've gone with have ordered the General Tso's Chicken, Sweet and Sour Chicken, and the Shrimp, and everyone has liked what they had. The great thing is based on what you order, you can typically get something for free (soda, crab rangoon, or entire entree). Good for take out if you live in the area. The place seems to be always run by the same people/family, which is good. We'll keep supporting this local business.
(3)Andrew J.
I decided to try this place after reading the current Yelp reviews, and was I glad that I did. I've probably tried every Chinese place within a mile radius of Fells Point, and this was the first one I look forward to ordering from again. The food is very fresh, and most dishes are accompanied with a good amount of vegetables - portion sizes, especially the $7 dinner specials are very large. If you are looking for Chinese food in the area, look no further. I gave 4/5 stars for two reasons - 1. while the food is definitely the best in the area (5/5), compared to good chinese restaurants in other cities, its more like 3/5 (so I averaged..) and 2. they are not on GrubHub or any other online ordering service, which gets to be inconvenient compared to other options, especially when paying by credit card.
(4)Tracy D.
This place is insanely good!! I love the bean curd and vegetable soup - it is light and has huge pieces of tofu and not-soggy vegetables (although vegetarians be warned that the broth is likely chicken). The steamed dumplings are a must with every order - the sauce is great. Eggrolls are fantastic. I also love the wonton soup and spicy bean curd. I've picked up orders and had them delivered and have always had great experiences. So glad this place is right down the street!!!
(5)Jessica G.
I agree with others here. This is a good, reliable Chinese delivery place. It's right at the border of Upper Fells/Canton/Butcher's Hill/Patterson Park. I've ordered from them five times now, and while it's not gourmet, it's definitely solid Chinese delivery. Chicken cashew is my favorite. Good veggie fried rice, too.
(5)Nadler B.
I was not expecting this food to be so delicious because when I called to place an order, I was told that they did not have string beans for chicken and string beans. They also did not have brown rice. I ordered the chicken with mixed vegetables and it was so tasty! Highly recommend it to anyone who wants to eat very yummy Chinese food!!
(5)Mike K.
Pork Fried Rice was packed to the brim. Took a serving from the carton before the level of rice dropped below the lid. Free soda too. Gotta love it.
(5)Bmore Judgemental ..
Finally! Good china food in the Canton area! Everything we got was great. I'll definitely be going back, which is more than I can say about any of the other chinese food places in this area. We even got free stuff! I didn't know that still happens! Two thumbs up China House!

Nothin fancy here... but this is my go-to Chinese Delivery place. (maybe b/c they are fast and its right up the street from my house)

So glad I found this place on Yelp! Being vegetarian, it's hard to find good Chinese take out but China House has delicious tofu that is not mushy and just what you'd expect lo mein - totally satisfies my craving for fatty Chinese food. I have to say however, I won't be ordering the fried rice because I've definitely had better. On a positive note, they threw in free cream cheese wontons which was nice, and they were good. Also, I ordered delivery and they were very prompt. Will def be ordering from here all the time!

China Hoouussee! From the get go let me be honest in saying this will be a biased review. I live in a house with 5 guys and at least 1 person orders from China House once every 2-3 days. A bit excessive? Perhaps. But we live down the street and this place makes it wayy too easy to not eat from there. Prices are very fair, food comes in hot, and delivery takes no time at all. The least effort I've ever put into a meal to feel very rewarded after its consumption. They have everything going for them, including food quality and customer service. **Sidenote-- for those of you that don't know-- you better ask for the dumplings w/ special sauce next time.. those joints are off the chart! S/O to China Hoouuuuse. Mad love from the 214 guys.

Delicious, inexpensive Chinese food delivered super quickly to your door? This is the lazy, hungry, broke girl's dream, thank-you-very-much.

As a native New Yorker I find myself to be particularly distrustful of most Chinese food outside of New York. With that being said this is the only Chinese food place I will order from in Baltimore City. The portions are large (a dinner special can feed 2, although I always seem to eat the entire thing myself) and the service is prompt. The prices are reasonable and the delivery is prompt. I've ordered from here at least a dozen times and never regretted it. A solid choice if you don't feel like cooking.

I have ordered for over a year. My daughter orders every week at least once. But last night instead of putting a standard order of Phoenix and Dragon . They put 1/2 and the filled the other half with the General Tao chicken which is fried. I called and they said there was a new menu. I said there is no way that is correct and they hung up on me. I found the menu they put in with the order and called back they again made an excuse and hung up. The text from their menu says the same thing every other Chinese does related to this dish. The customer service problems with cost them a customer. Between my daughter and myself that is $160 a month they will lose. I tried to call back today around 11:00 and asked for a manager and they said 'no manager' . I asked when one would be in and they hung up.

While at Hopkins, my wife and I needed simple and easy take-out. This place delivered well-beyond expectations. The look from the outside had me concerned, however, the food certainly delivered. We had very straight-forward dishes, granted, but they were solid (along with an equally-great price). Would certainly go back.

so damn good i mean, it's not AUTHENTIC as SF chinese food, but for Baltimore, i can't complain. it's not sweet and fried chinese food for americans. it's simply chinese food made by actual chinese people (yes, they exist in Baltimore and yes they do speak chinese), which makes me order delivery from them at least twice a week my routine: go to work, get home after a very long day, call them on my way to the gym in my building, work out for about 30 mins, hop in the shower for 5 mins, and they are at my door. try the Hunan shrimp, shrimp with snow peas, and any of their classic chicken dishes. If you get $15+, free soda, $20+, free appetizer! Oh, and amazing spring rolls Can't really find another good chinese place in Baltimore. Will be order from this place for the next decade. Thank god.

Great food, great prices, super friendly, and always fast. This is my go to Chinese food place in the area.

I have ordered from here about 5-6 times now (tried the hot & sour soup, wonton soup, spring rolls, egg roles, steamed dumplings, General Tso, Kung Pao, steamed chicken & vegetables)The food is consistently good, hot, and fresh. The portions are very large (makes several meals) & the price is reasonable. I always get a free can of soda with every purchase over $10. What is best is the speed of delivery. Food was once delivered to my door 17 minutes after I called (granted, it was a random Tuesday night). I have also picked up & my order was ready in under 10 minutes. They also take credit cards over the phone, which is a plus!

We have been waiting for over an hour for our delivery. It still has not arrived. It seems as though they have unplugged their phone since there is nothing but a busy signal, so we can't even check the status of our order or cancel it. This place doesn't deserve my money.

Delicious! Hot and fast! Best delivery Chinese I have ever had. Even when I order during busy times I am so pleased with how quickly the food arrives.

Love this place best dumplings hands down and I'm picky about my dumplings the lo mein is equally as good. When I call they know who it is and they are honest. Their driver didn't have change I gave him a large bill I trusted him to come back he did within minutes so I tipped him for his rapid return.

Everything we've ever ordered is always good. Fast delivery. And ordering is easy. Order extra - eat leftovers for the week!
(5)Seth K.
Love this place. Good food. Cheap. Quick delivery. Large portions.

I just moved into the neighborhood and this seemed like a quick easy place to walk to and grab some carryout. There are a couple of tables but this is really mainly a carry out kind of place. I ordered a couple of entrees ( leftovers are a bonus when your fridge is empty). The service was great! The menu is pretty much standard of a Chinese carry out place. The house specialties are kind of a nice addition to the menu at definitely the right price. The portions are large. The pork fried rice is excellent. I'm sure I'll become a regular.

Really fast delivery! Great Chinese Food! I really enjoyed ordering take out from China House. We tried a little bit of everything on the menu and were not dissapointed at all. We absolutely will be ordering from here again!
(4)Michael M.
Fast, friendly, they take AMEX. Food is good; however, it is delivery so don't expect a 5 star menu. I've tried most places around Canton and this is by far the winner.
(5)Miranda B.
I've been scanning yelp's reviews for chinese all afternoon and I finally decided to take a chance on China House. I am not disappointed. The food was fresh, hot and wonderfully flavoured. It was a real treat considering some of the other choices in the area. Keep up the awesome work!!!

We were hungry for Chinese one rainy Saturday but didn't feel like leaving the house to get it. After pulling up Yelp to find somewhere that delivered we stumbled across China House and decided to give it a try. I'm pleased to say that it was pretty good and will definitely order from here again. They have a dinner combo which gives you almost any entree, fried rice and an egg roll for $6.95. We even got a free soda!

If you're looking for chinese takeout that isn't expensive but is made with real ingredients (i.e. I believe the chicken actually comes from a chicken), this is the place! They're quick, super cheap and the food is good (for chinese takeout)!
(5)Elizabeth T.
This was some of the best Chinese food I've ever had! I'm pretty picky when it comes to Chinese food too. You get really good sized portions for a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend China House!
(5)Maylian P.
Uninspiring, bland pork BBQ and pot stickers.
(2)Ron T.
This place is great! I have been trying everything on the menu and it's all great. I'm hooked and you can't beat their lunch special. Huge portions cheap. I'll be back
(5)Erica G.
I was starting to become doubtful that I would ever have decent takeout Chinese food in this city considering all the other places in fells point/canton that I have tried have been greasy and less than but this place restored my hope. Some of the best Chinese takeout I've ever had. Prices are cheap, portions are great and quality is amazing in comparison to other places in this neighborhood. Have ordered a number of things from the menu have yet to be disappointed with anything.
(4)Ryan T.
This place is spectacular. The portions are big and the quality is great. I wouldn't have known this place existed if it wasn't for Yelp! because it's easily missed. Found my designated downtown Chinese spot...
(5)Jennifer H.
This is seriously the only Chinese place from which I will order takeout or delivery. The chicken with garlic sauce is wonderful. I always end up with a free soda, too.
(4)Scott F.
ordered 2 kung pao chicken dinners with 2 spring rolls. probably only needed 1 kung pao dinner. definitely more than 2 of us could eat. also, came with ~ 5 cream cheese wontons, ~ 3 fortune cookies, (optional) forks, and plenty of sauces (soy, duck, mustard) for free. food was very tasty (just a little spice). service was very courteous. i was in and out from picking up the order within minutes. they do offer delivery as well.
(5)Mandy G.
I love the cheese wontons and chicken wings. Simply fantastic. the prices are reasonable and the lady at the phone is really nice. They are really quick in delivering the food and you really can't beat the value for money. My to go place for some quick Chinese food.

Please add General Tso's shrimp and shrimp lo mein to the list of yummy dishes at China House. Also I had been intrigued by the Young Chow Fried Rice (white style) as it seemed the same as house special fried rice...it is not! It's slightly different than the typical takeout fried rice - no soy sauce with char siu (bbq pork) and so delicious it has replaced my usual order of shrimp fried rice. I think I might need to go to Chinese food rehab after discovering this place - Sunday night is now my established takeout night and China House never disappoints.
(4)Michael C.
They do good take-out. Dinner specials are great and lunch specials rock.

I base chinese on general tso's. # 1 for a good general tso is the chicken (needs to be REAL, with not much breading, and crispy) breaded chicken is a staple of any chinese restaurant as it is used in many popular dishes (orange chicke, sesame chicken, general tso, etc...) #2 is sauce. Not one, i repeat. NOT ONE place in delivery range of Fells Point has decent chicken nor sauce. I want to try pf changs next, but idk 2 meals and spring rolls is $50 for carry out.. Ill keep waiting. Btw i lived in NY for 5 yrs previous to baltimore, where the chinese is great. Pizza wise.. Hot Tomatoes on S. Braodway is prob the best ive tried around here. Better than bop i think
(3)Veronica S.
I have ordered from here many times. Food is fresh, tastes great, and good variety. LOVE their boneless spareribs. Order them every time. Not sure about their rice (they sub-in steamed veggies for me). Check them out.
(5)Samantha L.
Love this place. Thinking about it at 9:30 AM :) So yummy and always hot. Only bad thing is that it's so close I eat it more than I should!
(5)Wendy S.
this is by far my favorite chinese restaurant! delivery is super fast. prices are great. everytime we order, there is something free in the bag! today it is a pepsi, last week free large order of crab rangoon!
(5)Brian F.
Great food, I highly recommend the spicy tofu with vegetables.
