There are a few times throughout the year where I don't want to drive all the way to chipotle or qdoba, yet I still want Mexican food made fast. I then think to myself, "am I willing to endure the constant smell of a mixture of feet and homeless men while eating below average food?" No, I am not ever willing to come to this worthless establishment. The smell is so fucking terrible, and do not get me started on the terrible service. After you order your overpriced $10 burrito, you have to wait up to 30 minutes for the illiterate, illegal immigrants to shit in a tortilla and throw some beans in it. Please, for the love of God, do not ever eat here. P.S.- The only reason I gave this horrendous restaurant one star is because they have very cheap guacamole (only $0.75, what a bargain!)

I like it better than Chipotle or Qdoba. It has more variety and is less of a clusterfuck than Chipotle, and Qdoba just sucks at customer service. This location is a little...well, depressing. I wouldn't want to eat-in here, it just doesn't have that kind of atmosphere. I like that they have a ton of different ingredients, both mexican and not-so-much, and you can customize your order to include any of them. I got a spinach quesadilla, a side salad, and a tortilla soup. The tortilla soup was more like queso. I did not like it at all, but my husband used it to dip his chips in and liked it for that purpose. The quesadilla was good, not mind-blowing, and the salad was okay. It had corn on it, the tomatoes were very fresh, the lettuce was okay, but the honey lime dressing was very good. I also like the wall of hot sauces. It would be much better if they gave the inside an update.

The food here is just okay, the service is terrible. The three times I've gone ordering just a simple burrito took about 20 minutes. Since the food is nothing special it is not worth going back when trying to order almost leaves me with a headache.

I absolutely love the this place. The food is delicious but a little pricy. I always get a black bean quesadilla with chips and queso (which isn't actually on the menu but should be). They have a reward program called Burrito Elito. For every dollar you spend you earn a point. After 50 points you get $5.00 off of an order. A free burrito is also provided for your birthday when you sign up for the program and the burritos are huge. There is plenty of seating inside but on a nice day I like the outdoor seating they provide or sitting on one of the benches overlooking the quarry. Another thing I like about California Tortilla is their hot sauce wall. There used to be a much wider selection that I wish they'd bring back. I recommend Hickory Haven. It isn't spicy but is delicious. The sauces on the wall are coded to indicate the spice level and all are available for purchase.

Well that didn't last long....This place has again fallen out of my good graces. Management must have changed hands again because the service is back to being piss-poor. I waited a good 5 mins before someone came from the back of the kitchen to take my order. At that point, the cashier could barely understand what food I wanted. I don't need you to be fluent enough to have a full conversation with me, but I'd like to think you at least know your menu items. Also, since they're participating in Dine Out for No Kid Hungry, customers can pay $1 towards the charity and in return you get a coupon for a free taco (plus some good karma!) Sadly, the cashier didn't understand me when I said I wanted to do this, so that was a no go. In the grand scheme of these, Cal Torts are at the bottom of the fast-food Tex-Mex chains anyway. The only reason this place gets any of my business is because it's on my way home more so than a Chipotle of Qdoba...but I'll go out of my way for better food and service from here on out. Besides, gas prices has gone down somewhat, right?

California Tortilla corporate is awesome. I can't say enough about them for their work. Unfortunately, they were not unable to fix the problems at this independent franchise location. There was a short term improvement. The food was very good for a couple of visits, and the hot sauce wall was fully stocked (though not organized very well). Things were looking up, presumably because of corporate feedback. That was all short lived. The hot sauces went empty with the outsides crusted over. The food quality plummeted, as they served up steak burritos with not a single edible piece of steak. It's all business as usual at the Quarry Lake Cal Tort.

I think the food here is solid. The fish tacos are very good. I guess service has been spotty for some reviewers but since change in management a little while ago, I have had excellent service. I guess pobody's nerfect... I am a burrito elito and frequent visitor with frequent valu-pak coupon usage. Keeps my tank full

So a few months ago, I would have given this place two stars. Rarely did they ever have any hot sauces, and frankly they were not as good as other CalTor's I've been too! However, management has changed, and they have improved tons. The manager is really nice and eager to help you (and fix something they messed up on), and the food even tastes better! If I need my CalTor fix I'll come here, but the one Downtown is still the best.

One of my fav Mexican food stops! Great service! Their fish tacos are to die for..going there and not getting one should be a crime! I also enjoy their bbq ranch crunchy burrito almost every time I'm there..and they also have great gauc too! Having the burrito elito card comes in handy too!

In general, I love Cal Tort, but this location in particular has some flaws and inconsistencies. I have visited twice. My first visit about 3 weeks ago, I would have given it 4 stars, but my second visit last night was a 2 star experience. Both times the restaurant was totally empty, and their hot sauce wall was pretty barren. It seemed like they hadn't restocked their hot sauces at all since my previous visit, which was really disappointing. The staff is friendly, but the food was lacking on my second visit. I got a taco salad, and it had barely any lettuce in it, and the taco shell bowl had a really funny taste to it. The chips also tasted weird and not like they normally do, and I suspect something is wrong with their deep fryer. Additionally, the queso had a really dark color to it, like it was old and had been sitting out for a day or two, and it didn't taste that great either. I'm hoping that they were just having an off day and can get it together....

This place changed owners several months ago and I'm glad to report that they are doing a lot better than the previous owners for sure. The guacamole is really good (it used to be of questionable freshness before the new management) and the food in general has improved significantly. We used to avoid this place like the plague. We now go there quite regularly. The staff is particularly efficient when the bosses are around :) When the bosses are not there, the pace is slightly different...

As far as mexican fast food-type places go, I definitely like them for their selection. You can customize anything, and there's an option for meatless, or light cheese, whatever you want! I haven't used the Wall of Flame (I just pick up my food and go) but I've looked at them while waiting, and the entertainment value is enough. The place is friendly with some cheesy decorations, but the food is tasty and quick!

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
