Gave Cafe Poupon another try and had the almond croissant. It tasted just like it looks - flaky deliciousness! Pretty sugary but I needed it for an afternoon pick-me-up. I think from now on I'll stick to pastries rather than their savory food (re: my review on smoked salmon salad)

LOVE YOU, CAFÉ POUPON! I needed a place for a business meeting last week and wanted to pick a new-to-me place. So, I broke out my trusty Yelp app and scrolled through my bookmarked cafés and happened upon Café Poupon - a central locale for both me and the biz contact I was meeting. Now, I had walked by Café Poupon on numerous occasions and never noticed it was there (sorry). Now that I am paying attention, I can't believe I missed it. Cute and quaint inside, you really do feel like you are in a Parisian bistro. The ladies who work there are super polite and cheerful and have a wonderful tea presentation as well, which I appreciate. While I didn't partake in any of the desserts, I did make a mental note to come back and take advantage of them once I hit goal weight (which may be a few months since the holidays are no time to be worried about all that! lol!). So far, I am definitely a fan. Looking forward to planning some more work days here. I have a feeling I'll be raising this rating even more in the coming months. So far, so great!

Excellent place for a quick bite Latte delicious Quiche perfect Croissant perfect ending French toast looked delicious for the next trip.

This place is a institution in replicating the feeling of a Parisian coffee house!!! My mom used to come here and get pastries and petifors (sp?). Thank goodness for this place. It gives you the corporate America experience with the down home localness of a local coffee shop because it is!! You need to get in here and support this local business!!

Best French pastry in Baltimore! Great place to get dessert and coffee! Not a cafe in American sense, e.g. no savory sandwiches, not many seats, so adjust expectation. Not open after 6 PM or on Sundays.
(5)Maureen Y.
This place is great. The food is delicious and fresh and the quality is always outstanding. The service is pretty friendly and they have ample seating and free wifi. Most recently I had their soup of the day which was seafood soup. It was light and fresh and not fishy. It was accompanied by a few pieces of soft baguette and REAL butter made it even more amazing. Tiramisu for dessert was very good but I enjoyed their fruit tart much better the last time I had it. I had a nibble of my boyfriend's oatmeal raisin cookie and it was very fresh and had a perfect chewiness. Their prices are a bit on the higher side but are well worth it. They make a good coffee and espresso drinks are great too.

Iced coffee is iced coffee is iced coffee, right? Wrong! At least not here at Cafe Poupon. They use Illy coffee, which just tastes better. It might be because Illy coffee grounds are packaged in steel canisters and pressurized with an inert gas rather than air... it might be because Italians just know how to do espresso and all things coffea... whatever the case, it is yummy, hot or iced, but especially iced. This is especially impressive, since most iced coffees taste watered down and/or like an indistinguishable mix of perhaps arabica, perhaps garbage beans. Cafe Poupon also runs these neat-o specials, like 5-9 a.m., $5 for a double latte/cappucino and flavored croissant. Score. Their pain au chocolat and almond croissants are verrrrry delish, I'll tell you that much. The only thing that keeps me from giving them that final fifth star is that I kinda wish they'd toast/warm up my pastry once I order it. That would make things perf. All in all, a great little coffee shop with a lot of seating inside and out (adorbs little patio area with umbrella'd tables) and lots of other great things going for it (coffee, deals, noms).

Cute little bakery with a great selection of cute little pastries! I have also tried their iced mocha that comes with a double or triple shot - definitely keeps you caffeiniated for the day!

Café Poupon is excellent!! I went here once before to ask for their famous bostok. They were out so they gave me some samples of their other pastries. I hadn't had the chance to go back until today and I'm so glad I got to enjoy a great brunch here! First, the coffee. My friend ordered coffee while I ordered cappuccino. The cappuccino was awesome - one of the best I've tasted in Baltimore! Both drinks came with a delicate little cookie thing. We also tried one of their macarons - yaaas a legit macaron in Baltimore. They're not as pretty as Lauduree but the taste is just as good! My friend ordered a quiche while I got the croque monsieur - a ham sandwich with guyere cheese on top served with beschemel and a side salad. The bread was so soft and I really enjoyed the freshness of the salad. This is somewhere where I would take my picky parents to brunch - it's that good! But I could also see myself stopping by to casually grab a coffee and pastry or even a quick lunch with friends. I really loved everything about the place - the food, the people, and the atmosphere. It's a gem in the downtown area! Be sure to check it out :)!

The pastries and lattes are great! Very refreshing and they have a great variety! Friendly staff with beautiful atmosphere

What an awesome little place! It is very unassuming from the outside (I almost missed it and I was looking for it), but it's very spacious with lots of seating inside. I stopped by to get an almond croissant, a bostok, and some macarons. I wasn't intending to get any macarons, but at 85 cents each, what a steal!! The bostok is fabulous: a nice crunchy exterior, soft and custard-y interior with jam. Yum! A bit on the pricier end, but worth the splurge every once in a while. The macarons are by far my favorite. I initially got one of each kind, and after trying the passionfruit and coffee, I went back to get another set. Yum! If you love french pastries as much as I do, definitely come by for a try! :)

What a perfect cafe. I am a coffee-holic so I am qualified to say that you should skip Starbucks or whatever other coffee-serving establishment there is around here and opt for Cafe Poupon. They use Illy coffee which I'm a huge fan of. Prices are on point, in fact I think you do pay more at Starbucks. They do their best with the latte froth art (or whatever you call it) at the top of your latte but it's amateur-ish at best (I've seen more skilled artists in my day but if this is in any way a deterring factor then I have to guess you have far too little to worry about in life, lol!) The pastries are where they hooked me. Fresh, expertly crafted homemade pastries sit and taunt you from the display. I ordered the pear croissant and the chocolate croissant, and I wouldn't have stopped there if I had any concern whatsoever for my waistline. The pear one still haunts my dreams. DELISH! Free wi-fi and a neverending supply of caffeine make this place ideal for studying/ school work. It makes me wish I was still a student so I'd have more excuse to come back.
(5)Faiza H.
I got the iced tea and the macaroons from where. They were definitely good, but the more pricey side. Good ambiance here
(4)Jennifer O.
Bottom Line: $5 for a double latte or cappuccino and a choice of plain, chocolate, or almond croissant? DONE. Even if my almond croissant had been regular, and not well above average with flakey pastry that was still soft and delicious on the inside, I wouldn't be able to pass up this deal at least every week if I worked near Cafe Poupon. The latte was well made, although I wouldn't mind a little bit more bold flavor. The baked goods looked wonderful, and my pistachio macaron was tasty, though a little sweet. I love the ambience with the marble floor, wooden tables, and literal wicker baskets for your pastries.
(5)Brie V.
Cafe Poupon is one of the most charming and picturesque cafes I've ever visited. The most notable feature of Cafe Poupon is most certainly its ambiance. The interior's classy marble floors, historic and high ceilings, pairing of wood-and-wicker chairs with marble-made table tops, large and whimsical caricature prints of generic French people hanging on the walls, and the faint background sounds of classical music culminate into one elegant, sophisticated, and simply divine atmosphere. Honestly, I felt like I had butterflies fluttering around in my tummy the first time I ever walked in there. Then I saw the pastry case, and those butterflies quickly transformed into voracious vultures craving anything that was warm and flaky. And my friends, Cafe Poupon has a GREAT deal to offer in the warm and flaky department: croissants, turnovers, and other pastries of all types (some that I can not readily identify but still covet upon sight), and French macaroons of at least 6 different flavors. Not to mention the baguette sandwiches, cookies, cakes, and specialty mini desserts also on-hand. The vast array of goodies they offer is not only astonishing, it's virtually unmatched in the Downtown & Mount Vernon neighborhood. I've been here about half a dozen times now, primarily in the morning or directly after work for some sugary and caffeinated pick-me-ups. Beginning with the sugar...the almond croissant is a must-buy and a must-try-not-to-devour-in-20 seconds. DELICIOUS. The almond paste-filling is SO tasty with the perfectly flaky exterior sprinkled with slivers of real almonds and a light sugar glaze. If you plan on eating it right away, have them warm it up for you there. You will not be disappointed. The chocolate croissant is also very tasty but pales in comparison to the almond croissant. The apple turnover is another great choice. Now, the French macaroons....TRY THEM ALL. These little guys are baked (and priced) to perfection. Seriously- not a crack on them. Just thinking about them puts a smile on my face. Now to the coffee. Cafe Poupon serves illy coffee. The illy brand is an Italian-based company that distributes their coffee to 140+ different countries. Which means...well...it's reliable and generic in taste. There is nothing distinctive about it. You certainly don't get that craft drink kind of feel as you would had you gone to Dooby's for a pour-over or Atwater's for their Counter Culture-brand concoctions. It's really just blah. I find this both disappointing but maybe fitting. Disappointing because I would like their coffee to reflect their unique ambiance. But, taking into consideration the classical French-cafe vibe of the place, perhaps it's quite fitting: who says they need some trendy, small-batch coffee-producing farm to provide them with some distinctive tasting beans? Whatever happened to just the good ole' classic capp.? In actuality, perhaps the "blah" but acceptable taste of their espresso creations is meant to actually complement the anything-but-blah pastries. I am unsure. I sure don't complain when I'm sipping on one of their cappuccinos with an almond croissant in-hand (and in-mouth) though. CONS: All of the drinks are elegantly written on a chalkboard in what I presume is French? I am not sure. What I am sure of is I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT MANY OF THEM ARE! I recognize the staples but I would say I don't know a good 30% of them. A couple of times, I have found myself standing in front of the drink menu trying to Google the drink names but getting frustrated when my phone autocorrects it to some American word and then resolving on just getting a latte or cappuccino. The staff also isn't very engaging for being a neighborhood cafe. I feel like they should try to connect with their customers a little more, or at the very least, have a conversation that goes beyond "Please and thank you." A couple of the staff members are a little standoffish. Once, when I asked what a drink listed on the menu was comprised of, I got a quiet and incomprehensible cursory response. Another time, the cashier lady got short with me when I didn't understand the way the cup sizing to espresso shots ratio worked. Little disheartening. The atmosphere is charming and the food is delicious. But there is definitely room for improvements to be made in both customer relations and the presentation of coffee menu items. One final thing to mention, I am beyond bummed that Cafe Poupon does not stay open past 6pm. It's perpetuating the whole "Downtown Baltimore closes at 6pm" vibe that the city is trying to eradicate. If Cafe Poupon would advertise themselves more and stay open longer, I'm CONFIDENT that the people would come and make it their nighttime coffee and dessert destination. This would not only be great for business, but it would be a great contribution towards revitalizing Downtown Bmore. This place truly isn't reaching its potential!

Let me tell you how pleased I am that Cafe Poupon is but a few dozen steps from my front door. My friends, I am very pleased. I love all things Paris and this is as close as you can come to Parisian cafe culture in Baltimore. Pastries! Macaroons! A brioche French Toast that is worth the resultant diabetes! Just kidding...maybe, see included pic. Order your coffee and take a minute to sit in their quaint little shop(pe). You'll get a tin filled with Illy coffee, enough to fill the tasse they give you about three times, and if you're lucky a complimentary mini-pastry. It is heaven on the weekends after a long week. Lurve it.

I stopped in at Café Poupon on my way to jury duty, and I have to say that it really made the day much better! The website and other Yelp reviews had led me to believe that they served omelets for breakfast, but it appears that this is no longer the case. I ordered ham on baguette instead, with a café au lait, and a coffee eclair for later. I did accidentally say "eclair café" since I haven't had one of these since I was in France years ago, and I thought it was interesting that they didn't know what that was and I realized I had to repeat myself in English. Oops. The baguette was lovely, good bread with very fresh greens, actually delicious tomato (in January?! from where?) and a little bit more mayo than I like (but that's usually the French way). Mustard on the side, but I didn't use any. The coffee was fantastic - perfectly balanced, not bitter or too acidic. Definitely will be a favorite stop, especially since there are often a few parking spots on some of the cross streets near this part of Charles. Halfway through our jury duty wait, I had the eclair. It was nice, not overly sweet, good coffee flavor, but won't be something I crave and go back specifically for. It was cut in half to be filled, which I definitely think is cheating, and makes it harder to eat. The pastry was good, pretty fresh but not entirely perfect. Definitely better than Vaccaro's. They're nicely authentic (even to the point of being a bit pricey) for a café, except that it's very spacious, and has free Wi-Fi. Not amenities you'd readily find elsewhere - and quite a good place to sit with a book or get some work done. I'll definitely visit again!

This is an adorable little cafe with coffee drinks, pastries, small desserts, and lunch options. After an in-depth explanation of each option by one of the employees (they should really consider small signs!), I finally made a decision. My chocolate mousse-like cake was pretty tasty ordered with a glass of milk. This would be a great date spot; it's super romantic with fresh flowers on each small table. There are also some good spots to study, particularly at the bar along the window, but I'd be hesitant to spread out too much or stay very long.
(4)Yvonne S.
I love croissants. I have probably had many types at many places. So, I wasn't about to pass this place up knowing that they serve them too. The interior is like that of a quaint cafe. I was by my lonesome self, but it was cool. Ordered myself a bostok and an almond croissant with cappuccino. Both were really good! They may be better if they were warmer, but I was satisfied with the texture and taste. The coffee was smooth as well. They have a march special now: a croissant and a latte or cappuccino for $5.
(4)Ashley C.
As I eagerly looked for something decent on my break from jury duty I stumbled upon this gem. Using my meager lunch allowance I was able to grab a coffee and the roast beef baguette sandwich. Perfectly portioned and not too heavy this was the perfect filling lunch for my short break. As a bonus they have seating by the window so you can watch the people walk by on charles as you enjoy your coffee and sandwich.

I went to this morning (7:30am)to get some pastries by yelp reviews. When I come back to hotel n eat them, there weren't fresh at all. I don't know they make today or leftover from yesterday. Taste isn't good either. So disappointed.
(1)Moira R.
The pastries I had: 3 stars Latte: 4 stars Ambiance: 5 stars I ordered a tart with creme and strawberries on top and a lemon macaroon with a double shot latte, I was given a sample piece of chocolate cake which I appreciated because it was something that I had almost ordered. When I looked at the pastry case I was a bit disappointed. Why are the croissants so flat? Normally I love to eat a crisp and buttery croissant with coffee, but they shouldn't be so flat. I knew that I would be disappointed so I went with the tart instead. The tart was a disk of what is best described as puff pastry. However, it was pretty hard and dense. Another person across from me pointed out to the woman behind the counter that they should not be so hard, they really shouldn't be. I ate mine regardless though because the strawberries and creme were quite succulent and made up for what the pastry lacked. The macaroon was too sweet, I'm glad I had the coffee. The cake sample was good, very soft thin layers of chocolate cake and chocolate creme with a hint of raspberry. They use Illy brand coffee which is one of my favorite espressos. Unlike other popular chain coffee brands, Illy makes a well balanced roast that is well suited to espresso drinks... not burned, not to acidic, but bold enough to make a flavorful latte. I find that if If you're worried about getting a milky latte, order a double or a tripple, a single will give you warm milk with a hint of coffee. The latte I had was well made and didn't need any sugar which by my standards indicates and excellent well made latte. This location is just cute. They have gorgeous large light fixtures that may be original to the building, and wicker chairs reminiscent of Parisian cafes. This would be a nice place to take a date for breakfast/afternoon snacks/after dinner dessert.

Yuum Yuum Yummm, I don't know if you have been to the other location in Baltimore or even D.C . But Seriously this is a added Gem to our neighborhood. They are in the old Tremont Cafe Location attached to what used to be the Tremont Hotel. Quality food, freshly baked items and to die for croissants. I work a few blocks from here and was literally stalking the location to watch for the opening. Things to add to your to try list: Ham & Cheese Croissant Madeleines Chocolate Chip and Walnut Cookies Cheesecake with Fruit ( seriously the best cheese cake Ive ever had. light soft creamy & fluffy) Fraisier Cake The Pear Tart... well how about try everything!!! This location has more space to eat than the other Bmore location. The staff is super friendly and in educated on the items.
(5)Thomas H.
Very cute little bakery and coffee shop. Looks like Paris inside. Great coffee. Try the pastries and the baguettes.
(5)John F.
I had jury duty and was very happy to find this place just before I went in the courthouse. The apple croissant was very good and the cappuccino was even better. They use illy beans and are one of the few places in Baltimore that make it with the correct 1/3 espresso, 1/3 milk, 1/3 froth ratio. Definitely a find for a coffee person.
(5)Robin B.
I love to search out small bakeries when I travel. While in Baltimore this morning, I read good reviews about Cafe Poupon. It was cold walking 1/2 mile from my hotel but the bakery warmed me right up! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The lady behind the counter greeted me and we discussed options. I decided on bacon quiche for breakfast, and she told me the croissants were still warm from the oven. Of course I had to get one. Then I spied the chocolate chip walnut cookie and a lemon macaron. The quiche was light and flavorful. Also very filling. The croissant was much airier than I had even hoped. It was light and flaky. The lemon macaron was devoured in two bites and I could only eat half of the cookie as I was getting overly full. I washed it all down with hot tea served from my personal tea pot. As I was getting ready for the walk back to my hotel, the counter lady brought me two mini desserts to try. I left on a sugar high and didn't need to eat until I got home to Louisiana. I will certainly go back to this little gem if I find myself in Baltimore again.
(5)Dana O.
Best cappuccino I've ever had! The service is lightning fast and very friendly. I looked forward to the sweet addition of the brown sugar cubes in my coffee. So happy I found this place to get my coffee fix while in Baltimore.
(5)Sarah J.
Yes! A French coffee shop with pastries in Mt. Vernon/downtown! Patisserie Poupon sells breakfast and lunch options, such as quiches, baguette/brioche sandwiches, and salads. (Correction: no omelettes.) Of course, it also has desserts and coffee (Illy brand). There is seating inside and outside, and the interior of the place is very nice with its French lithographs and marble floors - quite Parisian. Had a ham and cheese croissant for breakfast here, and it was delicious, freshly baked. Service is fantastic, quality is high. Try it out!
(5)Dani M.
Oh Em Ghee! This little cafe is so great. It is a GEM! I went for lunch last week. I had been wanting to go for a couple of weeks and finally made the decision to stop in. I didn't really know what to expect, but I knew there would be pastries. Sooooo many! I wish I could say what I ordered, but I don't know! I just randomly tried a raspberry pastry and it was delicious. I can't wait to stop in again. They are a bit pricey with some items, but I'm assuming because it is really good quality. But I will be going back and trying something different each time. You can also eat inside or outside which is really great for spring/summer.
(4)andrew n.
I come here a couple of times per week for coffee. They serve Illy coffee, which I'm very partial to. The coffee is hot and fresh. I haven't had the food, but it looks great. I think it's the best coffee spot in Mt. Vernon.
(4)Jennifer C.
I love baked confections and the Poupon group makes some of the finest French pastries in Baltimore. Their Cassis is always a solid choice. I wish they could offer dairy free or vegan options. However, I know that it will be difficult to stay within the French tradition and be able to offer dairy free/vegan. A girl can hope, right?
(5)Bill G.
Great place to grab a Boisson and a or a Viennoiserie. Everything is fresh and they serve illy. Great place for a morning meeting.
(5)Helen C.
My mom and I had breakfast here today and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. I had their spinach quiche and salad and fresh-squeezed orange juice. I had the quiche warmed up, and it was rich and delicious and the crust was perfectly flaky. The oj was really sweet and it was clearly very fresh and newly squeezed because there were tiny seeds at the bottom. My mom had a delicious pastry called a bostock, which tastes like almond, coconut, and has raspberry jam. They said it was baked in rum although you can't really taste that. Today they were only taking cash due to a network error, but hopefully they fix that soon. I saw that they have cronuts here... I must try one next time!
(5)Scarlett H.
I live right across from this treasure of a cafe and it's a treat to myself whenever I go. It's a bit pricey for what is advertised as real Parisian food, and I'd say it's fairly authentic (based only on my short trip to Paris a couple years ago and nibbling street food there). They have a significant menu of drinks, snacks, and entrees for breakfast, lunch and early early dinner (they close at 6pm) and the cakes (which range from personal size to two people to party size) are fantastic. I am a black coffee drinker, and I hadn't known that if I just ordered "a coffee" there, I'd get a personal pitcher that fills my mug like 3 times. It's a cozy place to study, so getting 3 cups of coffee for the price of one is great for all afternoon. The croissant is light and fluffy and not as "heavily butter" tasting as american style croissants. They recently added the lamb shank to their menu (I don't know if it's seasonl or anything), but the meat was tender and fell off the bone to be digested with the creamiest mashed potatoes and tender asparagus. Definitely worth the price, and even though they said it was a wait, I waited less than 20 minutes (entrees come with a salad too)--could be because the cafe was not really busy at the time. I've also had the brioche french toast, and used the little brioche breads they sell to go with my chili. Everything is delicious so far. It is a bit pricey, so when I go, I'm treating myself. **Also, service is amazing, and they are very attentive as soon as you step up and happy to offer suggestions.
(5)Cris J.
Great pastries, a nice lunch selection, and the only place to get real café lattes and cappuccinos that I know of in downtown Baltimore. They have a nice patio for warm-weather relaxing, and the café is decorated with authentic French café chairs and prints.
(4)Thor K.
What a great little cafe! Stopped in on a whim for a sandwich at lunch, croque monsieur, and was pleasantly surprised with the decadent delight served up. Cheese encrusted ham sandwich press with an aesthetic and tasty salad on the side and a free sampler pastry to boot! Really delicious, filling lunch for a song. Really friendly and welcoming staff in a clean, bright, and open floor plan with excellent old Parisian hot jazz on the house radio... You bet I'll be back to try some of the endless rows of pastries visible behind the glass!
(5)NormaJean C.
Wow! Delightfully French! Coffee, salads, desserts..all fresh and fast and most importantly, delicious! Try the chicken mango salad with avocado!
(4)Kelli B.
Came here with my 2 kids (5 and 7) and the staff is great. They offered them paper and crayons and were very welcoming. Ordered a cappuccino and chocolate mousse. It was GREAT. I will definitely be back and will be recommending to my friends!
(5)Claudia M.
Little cafe' with decent pastries --- a bit too heavy on butter for my taste --- and good espressos. A bit pricey for what you get perhaps, but certainly a decent lunch spot when visiting B'more. Service is fast and friendly.
(3)A D.
The chocolate chip walnut cookies are the best cookies I have ever had! Period. Their croissants are also amazing, and I really liked the Croque Monsieur. I wish they had a sandwich that includes veggies, but the food they have is good. I've been to the original patisserie many times and glad they opened a cafe. The cafe ambience is a little too "downtown" for my vibe, but it's downtown, so what can I say?
(4)Lisa P.
Overall I was happy with my experience and will return to try other menu items. We ordered the Niçoise salad and an almond croissant and eclair for lunch. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was clean and inviting and it was a nice day so we were able to sit outside. Presentation was lovely; the salad was arranged beautifully and pastries and bread were in nice baskets. The salad was good - everything seemed fresh and there was nice variety - artichokes, green beans, tomatoes, etc. It had a LOT of olives which I normally would love, but unfortunately the olives were only so-so and we didn't finish them. The olive tapenade was excellent. The bread (which came with the salad) was good but not exceptional. I've been searching for a good pastry shop for a long time, and this one looked very promising. Unfortunately, nothing was sensational. The almond croissant was more gooey than flaky and the eclair had a strange coffee-ish flavor instead of pure chocolate. So not terribly promising, but not terrible either. I'd like to try the plain croissant and maybe some cake or other pastries before deciding for sure. A note about sitting outside - it seems to be a popular lunchtime smoking area, which is unfortunate. On the other hand, it does add to the Parisian feel!
(4)John A.
One of the few places in the city with Illy coffee. Naturally, they make a great cappuccino and espresso. The pastries are really good too.
(5)Alice H.
The folks at Patisserie Poupon opened up this cafe over on N Charles. Same great pastries and cakes but now with cafe/lunch items. I have yet to try their lunch options. I only went for a chocolate chip cookie, which is amazing by the way. I don't know how they get all those layers of chocolate in it, but it's layers, not chips. The service was very friendly, and there is plenty of space to sit. That was my only complaint with their bakery on Baltimore St - it's so small and there's really nowhere to sit. I will be stopping by here more often for some afternoon coffee breaks.
(5)Dodikins D.
If there's a French toast on the menu, you can be certain that my husband will order it, no matter what time of day it is or what the place actually specializes in. I have therefore tried more than my fair share of them. The brioche French toast here, however, may be the first one he's ever ordered that I actually like. The inside was soft and custard-like, while the outside had some nice crunchy (delicate, not hard and crusty) bits. It wasn't overly sweet, a gripe that I have with many French toasts. I came here for the ham and cheese croissant originally, but ended up "helping" my husband finish his French toast before turning back to my own food. The ham and cheese croissant was good, but not as filling. The mixed fruit cheesecake was overly dense and just okay. I'm not sure I would order it again. Prices are a bit expensive, but like I said, the food was also better than my usual. We came here with the intention of studying / working after lunch, but the internet was too slow for my husband's needs. However, there were other people who were studying, so maybe it was just our bad luck.

I love Cafe Poupon. Service is great (sometimes a little slow), but they are very nice people. All pastries that I've tried are delicious. Nice to go by yourself, with a friemd, or for take out to eat at home.
(5)Kim Q.
Stopped for lunch. I had Bioche Brie sandwich. My date had Ham sandwich and seafood soup. Everything was so fresh and good. The Brioche was so tasty. The pastries all look beautiful. We got Lemon macaroons to go and that is a good thing they are meant to stand alone not after lunch. So rich. We will be back for sure

(8/13/2014) Wonderfully charming cafe in downtown Baltimore. We've loved sampling Patisserie Poupons desserts all over town and have had many a cake from the bakery for special events. So fantastic that they've opened up a really nice spot to leisurely have breakfast, lunch, or a sweet treat. Aroma of the place is so fantastic when you walk in (they should pump it out the door for some free advertising), carmel, butter, sugar, chocolate, yeast...We were there for a wedding cake testing. It's all pretty efficient, essentially they serve you 8 pre-sliced samples (plates prepped and chilled ahead of time). Some of the cakes tasted a little stale (Opera, Triomphe) and this probably does them a disservice. My fave: Fraisier (fresh strawberries, pastry cream, marzipan, white chocolate fondant). In reference to the cake ordering process, great service, knowledgeable and helpful, friendly staff. Can't wait to see the final product! Note: to potential brides out there, if you can't decide on your favorite of their cakes, the layers can be one of each kind!

A truly good baguette requires three things: flour, yeast, and water. That's it! Cafe Poupon fosho knows what's up and how to make good baguette. Seriously, their sandwiches are out of this world. Nicoise salad is also delicious. Not in the coolest, most scenic place in the city being more downtown, but thankful that Poupon finally opened up a cafe.

This is a new little cafe across the street from where I live and I went there for the first time and ordered a walnut danish. It was yummy! The place looks much smaller than it is from the outside. And they even have outdoor seating. I was running out to work so I didn't get to enjoy the atmosphere. Next time I go I am going to try a beverage.

I am so glad Cafe Poupon opened near my office. This is now my go-to lunch spot when I do not make my own lunch. I've had the turkey baguette and the traditional croissant (which I've also had the pleasure of enjoying at the original location - Patisserie Poupon.) The baguettes are crusty, the cheese is creamy, the dijon mustard is spicy, they butter your sandwich (a delightfully decadent surprise!), and the croissants are perfection.

Had been hoping that this place would have a good selection of fresh bread - unfortunately only a kind of sweet bread and two baguettes available when I came by. Hopefully it was the wrong time of day. Place looks nice.

Yum! You know how quiche, especially spinach quiche, can be bland? Not here! From the buttery crust to the choice of cheeses, the development of flavors is well balanced (not too heavy) and spot on. Coffee was delish! We will be back for the French toast- we saw it after we ordered & it looks amazing.

Finally a good little bakery in Mt. Vernon area. I really enjoyed the mini tarts and pastries. Highly recommended for French bakery lovers

So glad this place opened. I remember the previous cafe that inhabited this space, and it was a very sad affair by comparison. Unlike some other Midtown eateries that charge a premium for mass-produced cafeteria fare, everything I've sampled here, from coffee to baked goods, is good quality and worth the price. Although you can order everything on their menu to-go, I recommend taking advantage of their well-lit and inviting seating area. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and seem to treat their regulars well. I appreciate that they actually come out from behind the counter to make sure they know which dessert or pastry you want to purchase. Treat yourself to coffee and dessert, folks. This place is a nice respite from the workday grind.

Loved this place and will miss it! I loved the pastries and coffee was amazing. While I visited Baltimore I noticed it's hard to find good customer service in a lot of restaurants and shops. I'm sure it's just a northern thing but this place had great service. I cannot get over the food though it was so so good.

Delightful little gem with a quiet courtyard to enjoy lunch of ham and cheese croissant. Pleasant and patient staff waited for me to decide on my lunch. The only downside was their payment tool didn't have a tipping option so I had to dig for some coins to put in the tip jar. Great experience.

Nothing to complain about. We were in a group so we sampled a bit of everything. Everything was delicious and prices were excellent.

Love this place! I couldn't wait for this place to open, and have been here twice thus far. I had not been to the other Baltimore location before. The staff here is so friendly and knowledgeable. In addition to the full display case of delicious looking and tasting baked goods, there is also a small fridge off to the side that serves grab and go sandwiches and salads. There are several tables to sit as well.

Chip off the old block. We love the Baltimore St. location and now this great new location.

My favorite place to grab an espresso in Baltimore. On top of that, delicious food and wonderful staff.

My husband declared his pastry (served with house made jam and Kerrygold butter) the best he's had since we were in Paris. High praise! The outdoor patio is nice. The place isn't free at $4 for a double latte, but the people were nice and with real dishes it beats Starbucks! Would return.

All the little service hiccups I encountered when they first opened are gone! There are hours on the door! There's outdoor seating now! And best of all, the staff is always happy to explain what each pastry is, no matter how many times I ask. If you're lost and easily mesmerized by all the colorful tarts and cakes in the pastry case, I recommend trying the mini pastries, which are under $2 a piece. That way, you can sample a little bit of everything before you come back the next day and eat a whole mocha eclair for lunch. Or maybe that's just me.

I loved the environment and the service was very nice. I got a single americano and illy coffee was very good.

Went there this morning, but got treated badly, if not discriminated by one of their employees. So I was waiting in the line to get checked out, the cashier greeted the gentle man behind me, which was nice I thought. But when it's my turn, the cashier girl ignored me completely and started to ask the gentle man behind me what he would like to get. So there was a pause, the gentle man didn't know how to response, because he was obviously behind me. So again, she didn't look at me at all, and asked the gentle man whether he should be in front of me. I was so shocked and didn't know what to say, the guy confirmed that he got there later than me. So finally I paid for my chocolate croissant. Her explanation was she didn't pay attention whether I was in the front since there were too many customers. But there were actually only three customers at that time. Anyway, the croissant tasted ok, I just wished I could have a better experience, or the cashier could handle the situation in a better way.

Terrific cafe in downtown Baltimore. I went here with my girlfriend and we had a great lunch. The food was organic, fresh, reasonably priced, and proportioned perfectly. They have seating outside which allows for a warm summer lunch spot. I'm pretty certain wi-fi is available as well. Definitely a great place!
